Takata inflators!!!!! it's been since may 2016 and i am unable to have anyone ride in my passenger seat. I'm a father and a husband who needs all the seats available in my car. Have talked to mazda usa, the local dealership, etc... And no one has a clue when the problems will be fixed
Nhtsa recall #:16v-594, manuf recall #: 9816h the sophisticated air bag sensor (sas) unit failure. The warning light has been illuminated since mid year of 2016. It was confirmed by mazda dealership 03/08/2017 that it was on due to result of sas unit failure (when they replaced the defective airbag recall). I was told the sas module was not available at this time.i have called multiple times for time frame and told no date was available yet.
4/23/12 - took car to dealership for airbag light that would continuously flash on dashboard whenever car was on. Their findings: "pulled code b1127 - cleaned & tightened terminals in connector under seat to correct resistance. Test drove ok. Connector 0810-15." cost me $92.00 to repair. 3/12/14, (94,425 miles) took car back to dealership after experiencing same problem with flashing airbag light for several months prior. Their description of service: "technician performed diagnostics using mazda scan tool. Found code b1127 - passenger side airbag module high resistance. Checked for tsb s, found tsb 08-001/09 - coating on airbag terminals allowing oxidation-- replace module. Installed gs3l-57-ka0b: module (r) a/b side, replaced module per tsbp 08-001/09. Cleared code from pcm." this time it cost me $453.87!!!! i can't believe there hasn't been a recall on this yet!!! also in jan. 2015, (92,000 miles) i walked out to my car one day, during the winter, to find my passenger side dashboard with a huge crack in it! it is also very sticky feeling. I haven't even looked into how much it's going to cost to repair this. After doing some more research i found out that allot of people are having problems with their dashboard and i think mazda needs to get involved and fix this.
Takata recall-i got a recall message in the mail.i went to dealer-maintenance and they said they fixed the problem.i have a copy of the report at home.i had it ( supposedly) fixed and then i got a notice from mazda corporate that it still was not fixed.i have an intermittent steady airbag alarm.they said they fixed it 8/10/17. I reported to the dealer that i got a notice it had not been fixed yet.they said they did fix it and the notice was about the passenger airbag and it was a new airbag recall. I asked when they could fix it and they told me it would be a while in order to get the parts. I don't know if this is true or not.my safety and my passengers are at risk.i drive people in my car.i sent a copy of the maintenance report stating they had fixed it to my sister in case iam involved in a fatality. I can fax the maintenance report.
Car airbag light flashing on dash indicating need for repair, took to lot a i bought the car from who replaced the passenger side air bag, still have flashing airbag light and am concerned now airbag will not inflate in an emergency and that my mazda 6 was overlooked during initial recalls for other mazda 6 of this generation as it has the same problems with it that are listed as recalls for others.

I bought a used car from a small dealership, they sold me the car without a dash harness, all the wiring that is supposed to be connected to the computer in my car is not there, so i can't do smog check. The mechanic could not check why the check engine light was on because the computer in my car was not communicating with the tool. Sold me the car with airbags not working. Lied about having it all checked out. And i still haven't received my title, registration, and plates to my car.

Takata recallthere have been two recalls in the last few months on the front passenger airbag of my car. They "fixed" both problems but are still telling me my passenger side airbag won't work in an accident without me paying $500 for them to replace a third part of the airbag system. It is clear to me this entire passenger side airbag is faulty and if they are messing with the lives of their consumers by extorting safety for money when they know the flaw is in their own installation/parts they are an unethical brand. It seems more likely that they are insisting on this purchase in exchange for safety so they can make back some of the money that the previous recalls have cost them. Either way, the recall needs to be expanded to include whatever additional components might be damaged due to mazda. It is not feasible that three components of my passenger seat airbag have gone wrong in the last few months but the only two under recall were not the issue. They are telling me the current issue requires an replacement of the entire air bag module.
My car had a air bag recal and a subframe and other misc recalls so i contacted the dealership near me which was in springfield mo and set a apt and had it replaced then got a call the next day saying they wuld meet me half way with a loaner car which was in mansfield mo for the subframe replacement and they have had it for over a month and they called and told me it was ready for pick up 6/21/21 and i drove up there wed to pick it up and it wuldnt start wuldnt do nothing dead battery. Dealership then hooked up a jump box the gauges started jumping all back and fourth like something was shorted or a short some were got it started and the min the jump box turned off the it killed all power the car shut completly off to nothing. So they gave me the loner vehical back and they drove me my car to west plains mo and they took the loner vehical and i got in my car and the air bag light is flashing very fast constly the steering is super tight and the brakes feel weird the passenger side is missing a piece in the dash only lights that was on my car when they picked it up was the tire sensor light and the check engine light got pics to prove and show everything.. Iā€™m driving it back to dealership to see if they can fix or make it right and give me the loner vehical back till they get my car back to the condition it was in when they picked it up for a recallrepair..

Takata recall (passenger)the website indicates that my repair is incomplete, meaning that parts are available. The mazda service manager told me that parts are not available and for me to call back in "another month." the service manager does not answer calls and he does not return calls when i leave a phone message. I complained to mazda and they were equally not helpful. I live in zone a and am unable to use my vehicle as i need to use it (passengers cannot ride on passenger side front). I have asked to be notified when the parts are in stock and i was told that i have to continue to call back--they will not notify me when the parts become available.i have been unable to talk with a mazda customer service manager--i get placed on hold and someone never answers. I need to have this remedied. The length of time is ridiculous, as other manufacturers are completing the repairs.

Hello:there has been 2 recalls on my vehicle, both regarding airbag. The sas unit recall has been without a remedy since august 2016. The second recall regarding airbag inflator has been without a remedy since january 2017. For such serious safety recalls, i am disappointed that there has been no remedy for almost a year.
My dashboard (crash pad) on my passenger side over my airbag is melting and cracking causing me to be concerned about safety in the event of an accident.mazda claims that recall ended in march of 2019 but i was never notified by mazda of this recall therefore i feel it should be extended for my safety.the crash pad becomes sticky, melts and cracks the dashboard.my vehicle is still in operation and therefore my saftey is still important

I was told i would be called when the parts arrived. I was never called. On august 1, i left a voice mail with a service tech asking if the parts were in. I never received a response. In mid-augustt, i went to the dealer's service department in person. I was told the parts would arrive the next day and that a service tech would call me the next day. The dashboard in my 2009 mazda6 passenger side is melting. The dashboard is sticky and a mess. It could probably be a hazard with my airbag. The dash is also very soft and the coloring comes off.
Takata recall - assured by dealer parts for recall in stock. Dealer kept me there, without having the parts, for hours while searching for billable work. Suggested $759 - $1059 unrelated service. Careful post-visit analysis indicated no suck service needed. Now i'm wary of returning for recall or any other reason. Heritage mazda catonsville md 21228invoice #5mcs115194.
Takata inflators: i received several recall notices (e.g. 16v-594, 13v425000, 11v134000, 09v043000) regarding my 2009 mazda6 ([xxx]) and tracy mazda conducted various repairs. During each repair, i mentioned the airbag inflator alert (see attachment). After service or repair was conducted, i was informed that the problem was reset or cleared by the mechanic. For a period of one week of commuting (home to work or vice versa), the inflator indicator disappeared. Then it returned, during short warm up, after driving a short distance, intermittently while driving on highways/freeways, etc. I returned the vehicle following the last recall/service-repair per receipts notation, i was informed that i have to pay $85 for diagnosis fee because the air inflator indicator is not a part of the foregoing problem. If indeed the necessary repairs were done right, should my vehicle airbag inflator indicator would indicate a warning? is resetting the airbag inflator indicator the "real" solution to the problem?information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
I took my car to ferman mazda of brandon9809 adamo drive, tampa(813) 623-6600to get the recall done. They had my car for two and half months.said they did recall on airbag. Now my airbag light came on and doesn't shut off. I was told that they replaced the parts that they recalled but now i checked online it says it wasn'and airbag light turned on. Now i know that they didn't do what i was told was done.

Takata recallmy airbags stopped functioning for no reason since last year. My car is a 2009 model but only has 45000 miles on it and never been in an accident or wrack. Maybe it's a good thing that it's not working because mazda refuses to include this model as part of the takata recall, so hopefully it will not explode in my face. I called mazda's customer service and they gave me the run around. Told me to get a diagnostic done, call them back after that and "maybe" they will cover it. Well i left numerous messages, they never called me back. What makes me scared is that the mazda dealership who did the diagnostic refused to explain what exactly is going on. They acted really weird and rude when i pressed for answers. All they told me that i have to pay around $500 to replace a part but that will not guarantee that my airbag will work. And of course that's an extra cost that we would have to pay. I don't understand why this model is not affected by this recall when many older and newer models have already been recalled?
"takata recall"i just finally had my passenger side airbag repaired, after nearly a year of effort and two separate recalls.i was working with dgdg auto group, who own both capitol mazda and steven's creek mazda in san jose, ca.i have been trying to get this resolved since i received the first recall in 2016.i have been told that parts were not in stock, that i had to wait for the indicator light to change from flashing to solid or vice versa.even the experience the last two days has be substandard, but i won't list the reasons for that.i just wanted to record my extreme frustration getting this glaring safety issue resolved.i love my mazda, by dgdg are terrible.
My wife complained to me today while driving the mazda6 there was a glare coming from the dash area right over the passenger airbag. She touched it and it was a shiny sticky deterioration of the dash itself.you cannot touch or rub out as it sticks and leaves a black, sticky glue on your fingers.looked it up and there are a great many mazda owners that seem to suffer from this very same issue...and nobody is getting satisfaction from mazda.44k and the dash is melting??????
I recently noticed out of no where the dashboard on my car cracked for no reason it is right by the front passenger airbag. It is also extremely sticky . I don't feel safe driving it in this condition

The airbag indicator (malfunction) light turns on and off intermittently for over a year.my car is out of warranty so the dealer will not service it without an expensive fee.i fear for my families safety because if the airbag is not operating properly it will be a life threatening injury to my family.i am under the impression thatcertain parts on vehicles should be serviced for a longer period of time, seat belts and airbags!.please investigate the matter and issue a recall.

Door lock actuator has failed!***the alarm on my mazda goes off at random periods of time.sometimes its once a week and sometimes is 5 times a day or night.i have reviewed several internet forums and it appears that there are a lot of people with the same problem but they have not created a complaint on this website.the remedies that they have found to have the dealer replace a door actuator that is faulty.this door actuator locks the doors and if when it fails to properly lock the door it will intermittently sound the alarm.the alarm is not so much the concern as much as the door lock actuator.it if fails to lock it creates a safety hazard for people as they are driving down the road the door could accidentally be opened.children could open the door and fall out of the car as it is failing.please look into this issue as it is a safety concern.
2009 mazda6.consumer writes in regards to automatic unlock button malfunction.the consumer stated within the last year, the automatic unlock button inside the vehicle, suddenly stopped working, and in fact did the opposite of what it was supposed to do. When the unlock button was pressed, the entire vehicle automatically locked, and at times, would not release the lock, even manually. It would take many attempts at perfect timing to select the unlock button while opening the door in order to be able to get out of the vehicle. The automatic lock button functioned as it should, locking all doors. In other words, both the automatic lock and unlock buttons only locked the doors. The consumer stated she was locked inside the vehicle on several occasions, until she was able to get the door to release. The dealer identified the problem as the body control module for the locks. However, they could not offer a guarantee that the new body control module would not have the same problem, as mazda acknowledged a problem with the part.
On january 25, 2014, i had my car service at a s. Florida mazda dealership for a 2013 recall on the door latch mounting screws. The recall stated that the screws may become loose. If all three door latch mounting screws become loose and fall out, the door latch mechanism will not engage when the door is closed, and the door ajar warning light will illuminate. Currently, i am experiencing the same issue with my doors and the door ajar light illuminating. In addition, due to this issue, my battery that i had replaced in may 2020 does not work. My car did not start. I had to have my car towed to the nearest mazda dealership. The dealership replaced the battery but told me that my door latch on 2 doors had to be replaced because my car thinks the door is ajar and this causes the battery to drain even with the car turned off. It sounds like these issues could be attributed to the 2013 recall. Furthermore, the technician informed me that my car alarm goes off without warning and the technician attributed this to the door latch issue. So all of the above issues can be traced back to the 2013 recall on door latches. It appears that there is a manufacturer defect on the door latches. Therefore, the dealership should make the necessary repairs without charge to me. Right now, my car has been at the dealership for 1 week and 2 days.
The car's alarm system would be triggered randomly. In a period of 3 weeks it happened around 15 times. It ended up draining the car battery once. The alarm is on for few seconds and then it stops by itself. Upon taking it to the mazda dealer they said it is a problem with door's electrical system and they had to replace the switches in all 4 doors. They were able to solve the problem, but i doubt if it is related to the recall that was made last september for fixing the door's latch system. The dealer had fixed the same just a back month.
The other day went to drive the car would not start. No acc on remote start button, key in ignition, still would not start. Checked all fuses, the battery. Took dash apart, removed stereo, checked all wiring harnesses all tested good. Had it towed up to olympia mazda. They are currently troubleshooting. Recalled airbag was switched out a few years ago and the warning light came back on about a year later. Possibly the car thinks there has been an collison and the car is in lockdown mode. Technician was completely baffled. Will call them tomorrow and ask them to check the ecm, bcm or what not. Other than this. Have never had an mechanical issue with this car. Would purchase again.
There seems to be an issue with the low beam headlight assemblies in the 2009 mazda6 vehicles. I have had both low beam headlights go out on me on two occasions while driving down the road. Once both lamps needed to be replaced, the second time banging on the light cover got them to work again. I was told by the service manager at mazda to just bang on the light cover with my hand and it should come back on. The driver side headlight goes out often and to get it to come back on i have to bang on the light cover. I've put about 12 bulbs in the car.you find similar incidents on the web in mazda forums. Also, you can see from the comments of a youtube video a friend of mine posted, it's common:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uqqperresa8mazda says the headlights are working just fine and that there is no issue. I have never had to be told to bang on the light to make it work again bu a service technician. If it's that common, there is an issue.[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

My car steering veers to the left constantly. The electrical system is wired wrong and doesn't work properly.this happens while i'm driving all the time and its only a matter of time before it causes me to wreck.
When ac or heat was on at any speed, it would run for a few mins. Then stop blowing out air before slowly dying out. It would make noise like it was trying to work again, but then wouldn't. Took it to mazda dealership. They did "test on ac/hvac system & found faulty control head due to electrical failure." they installed a heater control & the problem was fixed for a while. 3 months later same thing happened again. This time i was told the "hvac blower motor was tripping out on internal thermal overload" so they replaced the hvac blower motor. While that was getting fixed, i also had them look into another problem i was having. The tcs/dsc light would stay lit for 10-15 mins after i started my car and sometimes would just randomly come on while driving. The dealership did test & found "code c0034 - right front wheel speed sensor signal rate out of range & c0027, c0048 - right front wheel speed sensor circuit open, tech monitored sensor & found internal sensor failure. Corrected by anti-lock brake system. Installed gs3l-43-70x: right front abs sensor."
The contact owns a 2009 mazda 6. The contact stated that the horn activated along with the door actuators failing intermittently. The vehicle was taken back to the authorized dealer who indicated that the front drivers side and the rear drivers side door actuators needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 65,000.
My car alarm had been going off sporadically for about a year or more (maybe once a month), but it got progressively worse to the point that it would go off 3-5 days a week. I'd had my door latches inspected at the end of 2013 for a recall that although it wasn't electrical in nature, electrical issues could develop if it's not repaired. So, i was not expecting there to be any issues with them, but was surprised to learn that not one but both of my rear door actuators were defective. After getting that fixed the very day i picked up my vehicle from getting repairs i noticed my passenger side dashboard was shiny, and appeared to have been polished. I later learn that look actually came from the dashboard melting. Now i have melting toxic material, that also can cause a glare, in my vehicle.
I returned to my vehicle after work and the vehicle was dead except for the remote keyless entry and lights.the vehicle would not start and there was no accessory or on power.the dealer stated that the steering wheel lock and push button start had malfunctioned.i was quoted a repair bill of $1,660, which includes more than $1,000 in parts (parts numbers gs3m-66-15xd and gsyd-67-5dzg ).these are basic systems that failed after only 31,000 miles of use on a vehicle that was maintained very well.

Headlight harness comes loose frequently, resulting in loss of headlight. Must either hit the headlight forcefully or manually secure headlight by removing wheel well. Hundreds of people on youtube have reportedly experienced the same defect. Uncertain whether this occurs while stationary or moving, but imagine vibrationfrom motion will knock it loose again. This photo was taken after manually adjusting the right headlight via the harness in order to turn it back on. The right light is dimmer than the left, suggesting a ground issue.

For the last year, the car alarm in my 2009 mazda 6 has been going off sporadically by itself at all hours of the day while parked in my apartment building parking lot. The dealer diagnosed that my passenger side door actuator needed to be replaced. It was, and a few weeks later the alarm went off again at 3:30 am, waking up all of my neighbors in the process. Brought it back to the dealer and now they say it's the driver side door actuator. There are so many reports on the internet of other mazda owners having this same issue and there is a bulletin out there for it. Why has been this not become a recall yet?
The panic alarm has been going off every week at least once or twice. This happens a lot in the evenings between 8pm and 11pm.it'll go off by itself for no reason at all.this happened another time last year, but only once.now, it's happening every week and it's pretty annoying.i've read on other forums where people are having the same problem.i'm afraid this is going to kill my battery soon.
The pressure or heat coming from muffler burnt back part of vehicular i am paying 1400.00 in wire repairs. Air bags recall, scars me don't have another car.the passenger door air noise escaping, melting dash board, alarm system goes of everyday up to 3to 4 times. Tire pressure, and engine light on.
The contact owns a 2009 mazda 6. The contact smelled a strong burning odor inside and outside the vehicle. After entering the vehicle, there was evidence of an electrical fire. The fire department responded; however, there were no visible flames. The entire interior of the vehicle was covered with soot and smoke. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was dectected that the harness connector wires underneath the driver's seat were burnt and the fuse box overheated. The vehicle was repaired. Neither a fire nor a police report were filed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 110,000.
My car alarm kept going off several times a day for months for no reason. I brought it into the dealership and they found that i had a bad door latch. Could have been a safety issue if door could have come open while driving. Warranty was up so i had to pay all costs to replace.
Driving through a tunnel my car began to fill with smoke. I pulled over and looked for where the smoke came from and found the switch to my heated seats was on fire. My car would no longer turn on. Repair man at dealership says it's something that just happens i guess. Somewhere something shorted. I'm just glad my child was not in the car when this happened.beware!! there are current recalls for the exact make and model in australia and europe for the same issue. I'm still waiting for the us the issue a recall so i can get my money back.

Horn has activated randomly for years now, the first instance occurring on or about july, 2013.i have brought the car into the dealership many times for this.each time they said the door latch was faulty and setting it off.i have had 3 door latches replaced with the most recent being done on 5/2015. In august 2016, the horn started activating randomly again.the dealership said that they found "codes" on the 3 door latches that were already replaced!clearly there is a defect somewhere with the door locks or its electrical components.this poses a severe safety hazard as a child can open the door lock and fall out when the vehicle is moving if the lock is not working.
The contact owns a 2009 mazda 6. During higher humidity temperatures, the vehicle's alarm randomly activated. The contact was unable to determine if this issue would affect the air bags. Was driving vehicle at 45 mile per hour.suddenly noticed steering wheel was off center.i did not hit a pothole or any other obstructions on the road.steering became very loose and vehicle hard to steer.when braking the vehicle started to make squealing sound and pulled to one side.suspension became very harsh even on good surface road..this is a catastrophic failure with no warning.fortunately was able to get vehicle to auto repair center without getting into accident.auto repair facility examined vehicle and showed me that engine cradle - subframe had rusted thought and broke.this caused the engine to go off center which caused the braking, steering, and suspension issues. Auto repair facility told me the vehicle was not safe to drive and made me sign a waiver to release the vehicle.

I bought my mazda 6, year 2009, brand new from a mazda dealer in virginia.some time ago, while i was driving it at approximately. 30 mph in heavy traffic on one of the main roads, i then turned on the left turn signal as i needed to make a left turn at the very next light.suddenly, the enginedied completely and the car stopped in the middle of the traffic.luckily i was not hit by the drivers behind me.i was able to put the gear in park, start the engine again and drive the car home.i then called the mazda dealer (where i had bought the car) and i immediately made an appointment to have the car checked.to my greatest disappointment, the mazda dealership told me there was nothing wrong with my car and they could not find the cause of the problem i had on the road, when the engine died while i was driving my car.a few months later a similar problem happened again and the mazda dealer could not find any problem with it at that time either. Now mazda has a recall for mazda 6, 2010-2012 only, but it's for the same problem with the spider's webs and possible risk of cracks in the fuel tank, with a risk of a fire.i'm concerned the year 2009 is not included in the recall since the same problem appeared in the earlier recall.
Engine overheated while driving in a straight line in traffic at low speed with temperature in the 80's. The engine block cracked as a result. The engine and the complete cooling fan assembly had to be replaced. The engine temperature had risen high on several occasions before this, while idling, driving at low speeds, and driving at moderate and highway speeds, temperatures ranging from 50's to 90's. When the overheating occurred the air conditioning also failed to function properly. I had complained to the dealership about this issue and they claimed it was a fuse. They replaced the fuse, but it did not resolve the issue.
Engine cradle/crossmember is severely deteriorated on the passenger side. Excessive rust and holes in the structure. My concern is a safety issue in driving the car and having it stay together.

I went for an oil change and found out that the frame that holds the engine in place was completely rotted out and that my engine could fall out at any given time.also, because of the rot, the rod that should be attached to the steering was not attached because the bolts had nothing to adhere to. This could have resulted in me driving with my daughter and losing my steering and possibly getting in a fatal accident.the car is in the shop as it is not able to be driven per my mechanic for safety reasons as well as failing inspection fro this. Please contact me as soon as possible as i do not have any transportation and i work full time.i can be reached at [xxx].or my mechanic at hometowne auto, [xxx].information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
My son was driving my car to get food when the car lost control of steering and veered right towards the curb. His steering was straight but car was difficult to control. Thankfully he was only going 25 mph. We took it to auto shop and was told engine cradle/subframe had rusted throughout. Very expensive repair. We also own a second 09 mazda 6 that we now worry about and will get looked at.
I heard chirping noise from the car and took it to a dealer who wasn't able to reproduce the noise but the noise came back and with in the next 10 days it got worse. The dealer told that there was a leakage from exhaust donut and exhaust heat shield had to be fixed.i got them fixed and after 3 days and less than 100 miles i hear the chirping noise again and this time it is louder.i can hear it even when the car is parked.

I was driving with my ac on in my 2009 mazda 6 and the car began to overheat and the ac got hot.i had to pull over with my infant in the car into the nearest parking lot.the car was brought to mazda and they said that the cooling fan for the motor and the ac were faulty, but since the car was 4,000 miles over warranty, they would only give $200 toward the $907 job for their faulty part.i looked it up and there is a tsb for this part.nhtsa item #10032548 .if there are many others having a problem with this faulty manufactured part on relatively new cars i believe there should be a recall.it was the hottest day of the summer here when the ac went and my car started to overheat with my 6 month old in the car.my car only has 40,000 miles on it.
My 2009 mazda 6 i touring at during driving at 20-25 mph or at 50-80 mph produces a sulfur emission from the air vents inside as well as from the exhaust pipes. This began when the odometer was just over 300 miles. Even though this car requires regular unleaded octane rating 87 gas, octane rating 92 has been usedas well as generic brands of gas. Since switching back from octane 92 gas to regular unleaded octane 87 gas (as advised from the metro mazda dealership in ma) and from the generic to a more recognized brand of gas (mobile), the sulfur emission from the air vents has been greatly reduced to become a rare occurrence, but is still there, as recent as 10/22/09 on the highway with about 4200 miles on the odometer. The sulfur emission still comes out from the exhaust pipes and is most notable in the garage whether the car is running or not. The smell is still noticed when outside, running or not, and happens frequently, almost every time the car is shut off. Whether distance in travel is short or long, the emission from both areas remains and has been ongoing since the first occurrence.

Shortly after i purchased my vehicle (used) i noticed that my headlight on the passengers side was dimmer than theother and while is was driving, the light would go on and off, i figured it just needed to be replaced, but if you bumped the light it would come back on and work for a few days and again would go through the same thing over again, this became to be a safety issue to me because i work at night and with this issue happening intermittently i figure id change the bulb and hope for the best. Bulb changed same issue continued, i researched this on numerous sights to see that other mazda owners where going thru the same problem, edmonds had people on their sight with the same issue, headlights are on the top for safety if you cant see or be seen the worst can happen. Help us mazda6 owners.
The entire passenger side dashboard is gooey, sticky black. If you touch itgets all over your hands, and everything will stick to it. It appears to be melting away. This started a few years ago.recently i noticed the rear headlights look as if they are warped from the inside, as if it was a melted candle.
The original factory bulbs of the tail light / brake light on both the driver and passenger sides of my 2009 mazda 6 touring are melting the red plastic inside the lens and becoming deformed.this is causing visibility issues for vehicles behind me as the light is shining through as white instead of red.the exterior lens is not damaged, just the interior lens closest to the bulbs. I have contacted the dealer where i purchased my car and no recalls have been issued for this problem.i believe this is a manufacturer design flaw that could lead to a fire and reduced brake light visibility for drivers driving behind me.
New hid headlamps have very little light to see above a certain height depending on road terrain.as example when going downhill you cannot see the lanes in upcoming uphill grades.the lack of elimination in the area above the horizontal projection, prevents seeing road signs, lane changes, and pedestrians if you are traveling at a downhill angle on your approach. My car, 2009 mazda 6,has adjustment to raise projection depending on weight of passengers in back seat, but these new lights in my opinion are still unsafe when driving at night.i spoke to service department at dealer to inquire about possibly changing out these lights for some other type, but he said he had same problem when driving his vehicle at night.this headlight design is being added to more vehicle makes and is making night driving a safety issue that needs to be addressed for all new cars using this design.these new headlamps are worthless on hilly terrain. Since the service department person agreed and there is no apparent fix, i believe this will result in more night accidents.
Just like all the online discussion boards indicate, my driver's headlight does not turn on regularly.once i could fix it by hitting on the headlight assembly, but now that does not work any more.bulb is fine.
The driver's side high beam headlight has gone out. Hitting in makes the light turn on again, but it goes out within a few minutes.
Both headlights at different times have gone out, been replaced and go out again within a few weeks of replacing the bulb.if you bang on or hit the headlight it may come back on.have replaced the drivers side 4 times in one year.hitting bumps in the road may bring the bulb on or off also.
Defective headlight, low beams go out for no reason. If you hit the assembly the light comes back on. Common problem for this vehicle, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uqqperresa8 . Accident potential.
Discovered excessive condensation following the outage of the right passenger low beam headlight.outage to the headlight renders the vehicle unsafe and unfit for driving in situations that require usage of headlights until repaired.condensation also observed in driver headlamp, however light is still currently functioning.resulting damage includes replacement of entire headlight structure and components due to water related damage and subsequent headlight failure.
Low beam head lights do not work. High beam, fog and marker lights work fine.

There have been problems with other mazda cars that got recalled due to a possible faulty fuel shut-off valve that could allow gasoline to enter the fuel tank emission system. If enough fuel gets into the system, it can cause the engine to stall. However, this recall did not cover my 2009 mazda 6 and i had the same problem. Door lock actuator has failed! the alarm on my mazda goes off at random periods of time. Sometimes its once a week and sometimes is 5 times a day or night. I have reviewed several internet forums and it appears that there are a lot of people with the same problem but they have not created a complaint on this website. The remedies that they have found to have the dealer replace a door actuator that is faulty. This door actuator locks the doors and if when it fails to properly lock the door it will intermittently sound the alarm. The alarm is not so much the concern as much as the door lock actuator. It if fails to lock it creates a safety hazard for people as they are driving down the road the door could accidentally be opened. Children could open the door and fall out of the car as it is failing. Please look into this issue as it is a safety concern. This has been happening for at least the past 4-5 years.
Engine light came on put on machine for diagnostic it was canister purge value sitting or driving.
The contact owns a 2009 mazda, mazda 6. The contact noticed a large amount of gasoline leaking from the fuel tank. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who stated that the failure was contributed to a crack in the upper portion of the fuel tank. A temporary repair was performed.

The door did not latch completely when i closed it after getting in the car. I opened the door back up and realized that all three screws that hold the latch in had fallen out. I inspected the passenger side as well and 1 was gone.updated 04/18/13*lji went further and checked all of the screws in the car and realized that all of the screws were easy to remove. There was no adhesive on the screws to prevent them from backing out. Fortunately, i discovered the door didn't latch in my garage and not while i was going down the road!

Vehicle will not crank with transmission in park, must be shifted to neutral.this is a safety concern as the vehicle may move unintentionally while starting in neutral.when the shifter is placed in park, the transmission is mechanically in park and the vehicle does not roll.the dashboard shifter position indicator does not highlight "p" though when in park, and thus the vehicle does not crank.to start the vehicle, i have to have foot on the brake, press start/stop, move shifter to neutral, then press start/stop button to crank engine.unintended roll away risk since vehicle is started in neutral.
I bought this car 2009 from mechanic 2 weeks ago i run for 100miles for to and from work only.after suddenly at light came so i went to check nearest auto parts stores with code reader for diagnostic & he said there might be a transmission problems. After i am ablt to start engine but car won't drive in d mode but r can work with jerk and horse power go up to 5000 up. So i am going to see with hayes mazda in kalamazoo. Therefore, please take a serious action or investigation into this matter
2009 mazda 6 i touring at makes an intense buzzing vibration sound after shifting to drive at first ignition of the day before any acceleration. The vibration comes from the center cupholders in the front, which in turn is from the automatic transmission itself. This is a recurring issue from day one.
I purchased a 2009 mazda6 on 3/26/2009.four days after the purchase the new vehicle was in the shop to replace the automatic transmission.the automatic transmission casting had a small weep hole in it which was causing a leak.dealer had to replace the automatic transmission.for the first 4 weeks i owned the car it was in the garage for 3 weeks.
I was reared ed 2 years ago in september. When i took my vehicle in to get fixed the seatbelts were checked and in working order. A couple weeks later i removed my son's car seat to sweep out the carand to wash his seat. As i was putting his seat back in i noticed the belt would not lock. So i moved it over to the passenger side as my oldest always sat on the drivers side. A couple weeks after that the rear passenger seatbelt wouldn't lock. Now i have a infant in the vehicle went to put her carseat behind the drivers side. Worked up until a week ago i noticed today as i was taking her seat out of the base it was moving a lot. I yanked on the seatbelt now it won't lock. I have read complaints on this and recalls on some cars for this.
When i got the vehicle i noticed the dashboard was really sticky and i didn't know how but then i met someone with the same vehicle with the same issue. My back seat is very loose and makes noises when driving
The contact owns a 2009 mazda 6. While driving 10 mph, the brake pedal failed to depress without warning while approaching a stop sign. The contact continued to depress the brake pedal until it finally worked. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.
The check brake light came on. I found that there was very little break fluid. I took the vehicle to my mechanic and he determined that there was a hole in the break line created when it rubbed up against the engine. He said it was a design flaw and recommended that we take the car to the mazda dealership. The service manager was very understanding but could not make any judgment. He consulted with mazda corporate.corporate ruled that since it was not under warranty they were not responsible for replacement of the part. As a gesture of goodwill they paid for the part which was $73.28, and charged me $405.00 in labor to installation. To me, i would certainly like to get reimbursed my out of pocket expense. But more, so i wouldlike to have this design flaw corrected so that someone doesn't killed when their brakes fail. I will be out of the country until feb. 17th. Thank you
The contact owns a 2009 mazda mazda6. The contact stated that while attempting to engage the emergency brake, the release button fractured. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that the emergency brake assembly needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was not available. The failure and current mileage was 49,000.
Faulty e-brake. E-brake button has corroded away and will no longer hold the car in park (car is a manual, so this is particularly concerning since this is the only way to offically keep the car in park when turned off). Car was parked in a stationary position, on a slightly slanted road. Came back and car had slightly backed up into car behind it because parking break had 'let go'. Luckily slant was small enough to not cause damage to the car behind mine, and only left a minor dent in my rear bumper. Inside of car was hot (it was a usual hot day) and seemed as though the actual parking break button, or glue that held it on, had melted. I can now no longer keep the break in park - have to either put it in first gear, or physically hold the break up with something underneath, putting my car and other at risk for car rolling back.
Driving on highway, i had to brake and realized i had to struggle to steer the vehicle properly.i heard a loud clunk when releasing clutch when i had to use it.my steering wheel was out of alignment.when i brought in for service they said the entire frame and underside of the body had rusted out.i do not have pictures yet.
My brakes on my 2009 mazda 6s have failed 3 times, resulting in the master cylinder being replaced 2x, and the abs unit 1x.when i would bring my car to a stop, it would start to roll again.this made me very concerned about causing an accident.
Inspection agency found that the engine cradle was corroded to the point of near failure. Have been told that a replacement using a used chassis will cost over $1500. I have lived in new jersey/pennsylvania for all but 8 months i have owned this car since 2009. From reading about others with the same issue, it seems the engine cradles were not made to handle those winter conditions. Hopefully this willgenerate a recall since it seems like a common occurrence. I also had to have my front axle replaced about a year ago for a rusting issue that may have been due to the same material corrosion.
The contact owns a 2009 mazda 6. While driving approximately 30 mph, the steering wheel had to be turned all the way to the left in order to maintain a straight line. The contact pulled the vehicle over in a parking lot and heard a screeching sound when the brakes were applied. The steering wheel went all the way to the right. The contact called an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the subframe was rotted out and the front passenger side sway bar link needed to be replaced. The dealer, mazda of bedford in bedford, ohio, was contacted by phone and advised the contact to bring in the vehicle. The manufacturer was contacted and provided case number: 1-836240644. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.
Mazda dealer was performing a couple of recalls.they found that the subframe was severely rusted.said that it needed replaced before it failed.said that engine could drop out or problems with steering if the subframe failed.9 year old car with 100,000 miles andno other rust problems is unsafe to drive because of problem with the subframe.i contacted mazda but have not heard back from them.
The contact owns a 2009 mazda 6. While driving 35 mph and making a left turn, an abnormal noise was heard and the steering wheel became extremely loose. The contact stated that the steering wheel was uncontrollable. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and it was diagnosed that the rack and pinion mounts fractured due to rust, but the vehicle was not repaired. The dealer and manufacturer were not notified.the failure mileage was approximately 150,000.
Advised at most recent service appointment that the 'subframe is very rotted' and will cause safety concerns.
The contact owns a 2009 mazda 6. While driving approximately 30 mph, the vehicle started pulling to the right. In addition, the traction control and dynamic stability control off warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was driven to the contact's residence. Bought 2009 mazda 6 brand new.car has 140,000 miles well maintained. I had to slam on my brakes to avoid a collision with a truck pulling a trailer. The truck was at a stop sign facing west, i had right of way driving north, truck driver pulled out in front of meturning left to go south. My speed aprox.40mph to dead stop.. My vehicle never left the road or no impact with other vehicle. As i started to drive straight, i had to keep my steering 20-30 degrees to left because my car pulled hard to the right.i pulled over to check for flat tire. That was not the issue.i was able to turn around and proceed to a mazda dealer aprox 2 miles south .i left the car there for mazda to inspect.the service advisor called me and told me the front sub frame had split/cracked due to rust corrosion--"thats northeast ohio for you". Repair estimate $2000-$2500.repairs are not done. Dealership has allowed to leave the vehicle in the parking lot for a short time. My car can not be driven.the dealership offered to work with me to "purchase another vehicle " .
Loss of steering due to passenger side rusted sub frame
This car was bought used. After suspension inspection i found out that the front subframe is extremely rusty and immediate replacement is necessary. According to the body condition there were no any incidents which may affected the subframe condition. Further driving with this is dangerous.
Subframe has severe corrosion, rotted out. Only one bolt holding the rack and pinion.hard to keep the car in the road.steers to one side.make popping noises when turning certain directions.steering wheel shakes when driving on freeway when reaching speed of 40-50.
Engine cradle/crossmember is severely deteriorated on the passenger side. Excessive rust and holes in the structure. My concern is a safety issue in driving the car and having it stay together.
Driving to work on highway 44 when i noticed the handling was really bad. Had to come to a quick stop and applied brake pressure when rhw xar suddenly swerves to the right. Upon getting the car under control i had to run thw sterring wheel 3/4 to the left to keep the car going straight. Made it to work by driving slow and conitinuing steering left. Called a tow truck to have it towed to a shop. My mechanic replaced a wheel bearing and took it for a drive. He lost complete control of thw car twice; took it back to the shop and discovered the subframe completely rusted out and was the cause of the problem
Steering became difficult. We thought it needed an alignment nut 2 days later the steering became difficult. This was driving on a residential street at approximately 30 mph. We took the car to a repair shop to discover the sub frame has rusted into two. $1700 minimum to repair with a used part.
I was driving about 45 mph on rochester rd in traffic when i had to pull to the right and brake for and ambulance heading my way, i heard something break in the front end and upon trying to resume my position in my lane my car would not steer and in order to keep my wheels straight i had to turn my steering wheel to the car left. I thought i had a tire going down so i pulled over to inspect my tires and found nothing so i got back in my car and made a turn back on the road and i knew right away something was terribly wrong as it felt like i was on a sheet of ice. I pulled over and called for a tow truck. Upon inspection at my repair shop they found my subframe was rusted out.
I backed out of my driveway, which has a slight curb to it, and heard a clunk or pop from the front of the car. Drove down my street and to a highway on-ramp and while turning onto the ramp the steering felt loose (required more steering angle than normal to turn same amount). While on the highway, to keep the car straight, the wheel needed to be held turned left ~20degrees. I drove to the 1st exit to get off the highway right away, and while applying brakes, the car pulled to the right. Going on city streets to try to return home, a traffic light turned yellow, and applied brakes again and car pulled almost over into the right hand lane. Immediately pulled into a parking lot and called a towtruck, and towed it to a shop. Pictures from inspection performed by the shop are attached.
Driving down the road and noticed my steering wheel started to not be aligned. I then noticed the steering response wasn't there like it usually was. I was on a highway and the car started steering as if it were a boat. A delay in the steering response wascreating a dangerous driving experience. I brought it in to the dealership and they had told me that the part that holds everything together had completely rusted out. I could not take the car back with me as it was too unsafe to drive on the road. It's been 4 weeks now and still my car sits at the dealership. The car doesn't even have 90k on it and is in great condition other than that. Four weeks of no car and no word on anything about how it's going to get fixed has cost me money in rentals and also kept me from getting to all the jobs i need to get to. After doing some research on my own since i keep calling and they keep telling me they don't know what's going on with it, i'm noticing so many people with the same car having the same exact issue. This isn't a wear and tear issue like brakes or tires. This is a manufacturing and engineering issue that has failed. Any information on this would be great!
Update to nhtsa id number: 11074904on 7/8/18, the front crossmember engine cradle failed, which has resulted in the catastrophic failure of being able to steer the car.the car is now unsafe to operate and drive whatsoever.i have been waiting 4.5 months for the manufacturer to provide the replacement oem part which i had scheduled the repair in the beginning of march 2018.the manufacturer has refused to sell the part to the mechanic, and the dealer said the price of the oem part has now doubled.this price gouging and inability to allow me to freely choose who to perform maintenance on my car is unacceptable and may result in the pursuit of legal action.
Subframe rust the front passenger subframe is severely rusted to the point that tmy local mazda dealer (alden mazda in fairhaven, ma) didnt want to perform routine maintenance due to their concerns over this very serious safety issue.they told me that the car is unsafe to drive at this point.i drive approximately 150 to 200 miles on most days and i'm very concerned for my safety.i purchased the car on february of 2018 with only 68,000 miles on it.as of july 30th 2018 it's at approximately 79,000 miles.
I am having trouble with my alignment going out had it done and a day later went back out. Apon review it turn out the sub frame by the motor cradle is disintegrated causing the problems with steering and alignment.
Car suddenly veered right on the highway and scraped both fenders and the mirror against a cement barricade.steering has been unpredictable.while elevated on jack stands with both front wheels hanging, crouched facing the right passenger side tire, the tire can be gripped with the left hand on the rear facing tread and right hand on the front facing tire tread, then moved in and out with large amounts of play, wobble, and clunking noises. There is also a large amount of noise and clunking coming from the area where the streering " linkage" ( term?) connects to the hydraulic rack when the front of the car is on jackstands and the steering wheel is moved to both extremities. The hydraulic steering rack appears to flex left and right when the car is on the ground in the normal driving position and the steering wheel is moved to both extremities.the left drivers side wheel bearing is in need of replacement.while assessing that is when the extreme rusting of the front subframe was noticed, along with a huge rust hole on the right passenger side as described by others.very close to the attachment of the lower a-arm of the same side.car was purchased new from dealership with 1500 miles by an in household family member and has had all/nearly all of its scheduled dealership maintenance at the place or purchase up untill the beginning/middle 2017.afterwhich i recieved the vehicle.this was all noticed on or aprox july 1st 2018 and the car hasnt been driven since.
Takata recall i was driving my car to work and the steering rack went out of it the car only has 116,000 miles on it.
2009mazda6 possible loss of steering control.the steering rack mounting bolt on the right side is not connected to the frame.the mounting boss on the cross member frame (engine cradle) is rusted out after 8 winters and 69000 miles.the steering rack is only connected on the left side by 2 bolts that will fail soon.at that point there would be a total loss of steering control when the rack breaks free of its mounts.i found this after noticing that the car made a noise when turning, also while in park and turning the steering wheel back and forth, the front end of the car would lift up and back down.iinspected the front right for a cause and found the rack was loose.i believe it is too dangerous to drive in this condition.
My car steering veers to the left constantly. The electrical system is wired wrong and doesn't work properly.this happens while i'm driving all the time and its only a matter of time before it causes me to wreck.
While driving car, felt clunk and car kept pulling to right and hard to control steering.when turn wheel, loud clunking felt and hard to control car.car was on highway just before exiting to city street.took to independent mechanic who said subframe completely rusted and affected steering and wheels would not let anyone drive car and said car is undriveable. Car towed to mazda dealer where it sits today. I was driving my 3 brothers in the car when this occurred.luckily there was no accident.
Garage kept mazda 6. While traveling about 40 a person cut into my lane and under hard braking we heard a loud grinding sound and the car pulled hard right.we pulled over and the car was not driveable. Had it towed home to find the subframe broke behind the passenger side tire. There was an unusual amount of corrosion there compared to the rest of the car.
In august 6th, 2018, i was driving back from work with my 4y old son in quebec city at 50 km/h. When i want to stop at the red-light i sensed a significant loss of steering control to the right and i was completely shocked because i was just about to hit a cyclist. And my son was frustrated too. Luckily nothing bad happened.but from there i wasn't able to drive correctly, i held the steering wheel to 60 degrees to the left while going at 25 km/h to be able to drive straight and get back to my home.the following day i drove my car to the nearest garage, and to my surprise, the guy told me that the subframe at the right near to the wheel is completely corroded and the steering rack was separated from its mounts causing the steering loss.the garage owner told that he called mazda to ask for a new subframe for me, but they told him that they don't have it in stock and they have already 5 more people with the same problem waiting for that.knowing that i do rust check and treatment before every winter.i am very thankful to god that nothing bad happened while i was traveling with my family during our holidays.mazda should recognize this as a serious and very dangerous defect since it is happening for a lot of people.
Steering safety issue urgent. Vehicle was being driven on a highway when suddenly lost steering, front end of vehicle elevated upon turning steering wheel when it was stopped and stationary. Subframe of vehicle rotted prematurely allowing steering linkage attached to subframe to become detached. Vehicle unsafe and required tow to dealership. Dealership inspected vehicle and reported subframe needed replacement in order to fix safety issue - car not able to be driven until repair complete. Vehicle had been serviced at same dealership for years and issue never reported with subframe. This is an extremely unsafe condition for these vehicles. Technician verbally reported that premature rust/rot could be due to location of ac condenser drain line. Subframe replaced with new mazda oem subframe. Friend with same make/model/year recently reported same issue with subframe.
The contact owns a 2009 mazda mazda6. The contact stated that while traveling 65 mph, the low tire pressure warning light illuminated and the vehicle veered to the left. As a result, the tire blew. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic where it was diagnosed that the tie rod valves needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was repaired. The failure and current mileage was 88,000.
The contact owns a 2009 mazda 6. The contact indicated that the dashboard was deteriorating. The contact noticed that there was a sticky substance leaking into the front passenger side near the windshield, the front driver side window, and the floorboard. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 36,000.
The dash board is melting.it is sticky and there's seems to be nothing to do about it.i checked on recalls for the dash, but did not find any.i have had cars here is south florida for 40 something years....never had a problem like this.why is it not recalled?
Dashboard is melting and becoming shinny and sticky.
The dashboard on the passenger side of my vehicle is melting and is very sticky all the time.
My front dashboard is melting. The dashboard is sticky to the touch and very shiny and reflects the suns glare.
The passenger side dashboard is literally melted to the point where the car is unsafe to operate during the day due to the reflection on the windshield. This is very unsafe and needs to be recalled! i have never seen or heard of a vehicle doing this and i'm appalled that the dealer has yet to remedy this issue.
The dashboard is melting and the mate black material has become sticky and shiny causing a glare on the windshield.
The top of the dashboard (only on passenger side) melted and became very reflectively shiny and sticky.i almost hit a pedestrian crossing at stop light as the reflected sun glare blinded my view.
2009 mazda isport has gone through two complete sets of brakes, rotors, and pads and it only has 22,000 miles on it. The brake pedal is very inconsistent when applied. Sometimes it goes all the way to the floor and sometimes it only travels a small distance.it's much worse when the dsc is engaged.
Dashboard is melting vehicle is always parked under cover and out of direct sunlight.manufacturers not acknowledging as a defect.
I have a 2009 mazda 6 s touring with 18000 miles on it and the three screws that hold the drivers door latch assembly on came loose and fell out. These screws should of been locked tightened in place and it seems that all the latch screws on the car were not secured not to work loose.. ..updated 04/18/13
The dashboard is melting and creating a glare on the windshield when driving.
Melting dashboard on my mazda 6.i'm very unhappy about this.a recall needs to be made.
Dash board is melting. I started noticing 1 side of dash was getting sticky, then it started melting slowly. It causes a very bad glare at times and makes it hard to see. I have contacted mazda and have brought it in to have it checked at the dealership and they confirmed it was melting. The material used one the dash is defective. Since i am out of warranty the repair cost is on me? this should be a recall for defective material.
The contact owns a 2009 mazda 6. The contact received a recall notice back in march of 2019 for nhtsa campaign number: 18v631000 (suspension, structure). The contact called garden city mazda at 516-874-0385 and informed them that the parts to remedy the recall were unavailable. The contact was informed that when the parts arrived, the dealer would email her to have the vehicle serviced. The contact had yet to receive a notification to have the recall remedied. Also, while driving 40 mph, the vehicle began to jerk while depressing the accelerator pedal as well as when shifting gears. The contact stated the check engine warning indicator would illuminate intermittently both prior and after she experienced the failure. The contact took the vehicle to a local mechanic, but it was not diagnosed. The mechanic suspected that there had been an oil leak that affected the transmission. The manufacturer had not been notified of the failures. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 94,000.
I purchased the car at delray mazda in 2011.i immediately purchased a dashmat to protect the dashboard from cracking or fading.i saw a segment on the news about other owners of mazda, nissan and etc. That has a cracking, sticky dashboard as well.i was advised to contact you.my dashboard is sticky underneath the dashmat and in the area of just above the glovebox, the dash is falling off in clumps.it is a black cushiony material that is falling apart and also cracking where the dashmat doesn't reach.the dash is also very sticky as well.i will contact the dealership and mazda but would like this resolved.
My dash is melting on the passenger side. It's about a 10 inch section. It sticky and soft. It rubs off when touched. I've done some research and it appears there are a lot of people experiencing the same thing. I'm sure they will claim it's the armour all but i used that stuff very rarely and if it was something i have applied, it would be melting all over. It has to be a defect on mazdas part. I did email them but haven't heard back yet.
The passenger dash board has melted (passenger air bag side). Also air bag light has turned on showing that the (air bag not on).
The dashboard on the passenger side is melting. It is sticky and mazda refuses to replace it.
The passenger side dashboard above the glove compartment is starting to melt. There is a shiny residue on the dashboard that becomes very sticky upon contact.the affected area is also very soft to touch much like a cushion rather than the typical hard plastic feel of a traditional dashboard.
My 2009 mazda 6 also has a melting dashboard, causing a glare on the windshield.
I see several complaints about a melting dashboard. The dashboard, especially on the passenger side has asoftish material that almost melts when parked in outdoor under sun even for few minutes. In such a condition if i touch this part of dashboard it crumbles into pieces. It is almost impossible to always park under roof and this material used seems to be of very low quality. Cost of fixing is unknown.
My passenger side dashboard is literally melting. Mazda admits to having put a defective piece in my model vehicle however will not take responsibility and replace their faulty piece. They claim if it is a safety hazard there would be a recall..well there needs to be! i live in south florida and the sun reflecting off of the dash is flat out blinding and dangerous not to mention god knows what materials leaking into my air vents that my entire family is breathing in, being potentially hazardous. I don't think the national highway traffic safety administration should allow mazda should wait for accidents to occur and people to potentially get injured to take responsibility for this issue and fully replace the dash piece in the affected models. This issue has been called to the attention of the public in numerous news segments and online articles meaning hundreds of thousands of people are having the same issue and their lives could be in danger. A recall needs to be issued as soon as possible!
The passenger-side dashboard is melting. It is sticky to the touch and causes a shiny glare.
I just recently got this car. I am making payments on it. I noticed my dashboard melting and now its so bad that there is a glare in the middle of windshield. I cant see through it at times. And the material from the dashboard is melting now in drip lines down the dash. It is ugly and is ruining anything that touches it. Kids try to dig holes in the dashboard and i'm scared that they might try to consume the goo that comes off the melting spot. My lawyer has informed me to file a complaint. I need a replacement dashboard as soon as possible. Please help.
The contact owns a 2009 mazda 6. While the vehicle was at an independent mechanic, it was diagnosed that the engine cradle was defective due to severe corrosion and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for the repair; however, the parts were unavailable for the repair. The contact was informed by a mazda representative that this was a known failure with that particular model vehicle. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 220,000. The vin was not provided.
The passenger side of my dashboard is melting.it is only occurring on the section closest to the window and for about 12 inches.i have tried to keep the windows open, use heat barriers/shields etc.it is even wet and gooey when the ac is on and i am driving.i have read that the plastics etc that are used in vehicles can emit cancerous odors/vapors/etc when they overheat.can this issue please be investigated as after reading the complaints this is a robust problem that can affect the safety of many people!
The dashboard of my 2009 mazda 6 is melting.it has become extremely sticky and shiny. The condition causes a glare on the windshield that can interfere with visibility.in addition, the dashboard deterioration is causing an oily film to build up on the entire inside of the windshield.the film has to be cleaned off frequently and is very difficult to completely remove. Ordinary window cleaners just smear it. The film interferes with the driver's ability to see in afternoon sun.i contacted mazda and they are aware of the problem. After i had it documented at the dealer, mazda agreed to pay for the part but would not pay for the cost of the labor, which is estimated at approximately $500.
The dashboard of my mazda is melting.the dashboard is shiny and sticky with a terrible glare.it looks like it is wet, but it is really gooey.i am worried the airbags may deploy prematurely or not at all.the damage to the dashboard is getting worse.i feel this is inferior workmanship and or materials and should be placed under recall.
Dashboard melting under normal driving and storage conditions. The dashboard of this vehicle is oozing a black tacky substance that shimmers in sunlight. The shimmer is reflected into the windshield resulting in an unsafe driving condition.
Melting dashboard.
The contact owns a 2009 mazda mazda6. The contact stated while the vehicle was being serviced by an independent mechanic, he was informed that the subframe was corroded. The contact called south burlington mazda (1795 shelburne rd, south burlington, vt 05403, 802- 660-6900) and made the dealer aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with nhtsa campaign number: 18v631000 (suspension, structure) however, the vin was not included. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 77,000.
Subframe rustedstright thru on the rightsupport point. Left support point had no rust at all.. Approx 96000 miles on the car, and thisrust was found by my mechanic after replacing the neutral safety switch..the rust is hard to detect because the plastic covers , that cover the subframe.
Brought vehicle in to a mechanic to replace right-side inner/outer tie rods due to knocking sound when turning the steering wheel all the way to one side. Mechanic got it on a lift and showed me the tie rods weren't the problem, it was the fact that the front subframe was so rotted that the tie rods weren't attached to it anymore, they were just free floating. Mechanic said the vehicle was unsafe to drive and the subframe needed to be replace asap. After removing the rotted subframe, it was obvious to see that the large amount of rust that had formed was due to the poor design of the a/c waste water port. It's just a plastic opening sticking out of the firewall, so all the waste water is dripping/pouring down from the opening and ends up sitting on the subframe and causing rust. There is also an intentional hole in the subframe right below the waste water port, so the water also gets into the frame and travels down its length to spread out all the rust and corrosion. I had to buy some hose clamps and a plastic elbow and some vinyl tubing to direct the waste water down below my brand new subframe so that i don't end up rusting it out as well.
The contact owns a 2009 mazda 6. The contact stated that there was extensive rust and corrosion built up on the subframe. The vehicle was towed to modern mazda of burlington (2608 alamance rd, burlington, nc 27215, (336) 229-5501) to be diagnosed. The dealer refused to service the vehicle for an unspecified recall campaign. The dealer asked the contact to pick up the vehicle and would not repair it because they were not in a salt belt state. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. Russ darrow mazda of milwaukee (11330 w metro auto mall, milwaukee, wi 53224, 1-(888) 675-2781) indicated that if the vehicle was towed them, they would provide a loaner vehicle and service the recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vin and failure mileage were not available.
During a recent alignment, for my 2009 mazda 6, i was informed by a mechanic that i could have aserious problem if the "suspension crossmember-engine cradle" is not replaced. After bringing the car to a body shop, i was informed it would not be wise to drive the car until this part is replaced. I was quoted $1,800 dollars for parts and labor.for a well maintained car with less than 100,000 miles on the odometer, i consider this an extreme and unreasonable repair.
I have received multiple estimates (please see attached files) that indicate the beginning of a problem other mazda6 2009 owners have had--the subframe has rusted and needs to be replaced. First time the problem was identified to me was at 65,000; previous owner may have been notified but problem has grown more severe. No incident has occurred as of yet but estimates range from $2,000 to $4,000 to replace; mazda dealership claims part would take 1-3 months to order. I dated the incident as of the first estimate i received. I have been warned that the engine and transmission could drop out of place!!! at only ~60k miles, this car has a lot left in it!
The subframe of my 2009 mazda6 completely rotted out from the inside and the vehicle broke down during normal use.on wednesday, may 2nd, a mazda dealership replaced my rotors, pads, and noticed the car was pulling to one side so they corrected the alignment.during this time they identified a normal level of rust on the subframe but was not concerned by any other signs of failure.less than 10 miles after leaving the dealership the subframe cracked, my front passenger wheel cv axil disconnected and the car was inoperable.thankfully i was going only 35 mph, down a straight, paved city road, and not on the highway.i fear that at higher speeds the car would have gone off road or worse for when the subframe broke the car jerked heavily to the right then completely stopped.i believe the dealership provided quality service and due to the type of physical failure of rotting from the inside the danger it posed to myself and my family in the car was hidden.the dealership informs me that there is a backorder (400ish) for the part and that parts may not be available for several weeks.searching online there seems to be many similar cases reported with models around this timeframe.due to the type of failure, number of similar cases, age of the car, type of use, i am shocked that there is not a recall.
While driving on highway at 55 mph the passenger door opened .passenger didn't fall out due to seat belt. Found that three screws fell out of door latch.replaced screws, now door can not be opened from outside.
While pulling down my street after backing out of my driveway, i heard a noise from the rear of the car that was not normal. It was more evident going over bumps. My car was due for an oil change anyway so i went to my local repair shop and asked them to investigate. The rear cross member is completely rusted through causing a nearly catastrophic failure of the right rear section, including a piece that rusted off and is floating within the spring. Mazda did issue a recall for this very issue, but it only covers the front cross member, which is absurd. I called mazda to confirm that the recall doesn't apply to the rear, and jose, the representative i spoke to by phone acknowledged that it does not. I am in a rust belt state, and if salt can affect the front cross member, obviously it can affect the rear in the same negative fashion. Just because the rear doesn't turn the car, doesn't mean it poses less of a danger as evidenced by my vehicle.
I braked quickly for a traffic light. The car skidded and veered violently to the right. When i accelerated from the light, i had to hold onto the wheel tightly to keep the car on the road. If i let go of the wheel, the car would immediately swerve to the right. In addition, the front passenger side wheel was squealing. I got it to my mechanic who told me that the subframe has rusted through and broke. I was shocked as the body has no rust. I have always keep the car very clean and maintained. In fact, i had the under body rust proofed when i purchased in 2009. I had to remove the car from the road as it was undrivable. If i had been on the highway doing 55, i would have been involved infatal accident.
Symptoms: alignment of the car was not correct, steering wheel not centered, when breaking tire grip was limited. Rain exaggerated the symptoms, car would slide easy and was difficult to stop(tires are in excellent condition). Right front wheel camber significantly out. Visual inspection of the tire indicated camber was not correct.investigation into potential wear items was completed searching for the possibilities of worn lower ball joint, shock tower connections and steering related components. All items appeared normal.further investigation to connections of the lower control arm revealed significant corrosion and separation of welded steel on the engine cradle(also known as front sub frame/front cross member/front k-frame)corrosion weakened the crossmember sufficiently to allow normal everyday driving to bend the crossmember and created the out of alignment and camber issue. Continuing to drive in this state could have resulted in the lower control arm breaking the crossmember completely and likely at a time when significant breaking would be required. With the wheel out of alignment acceleration/breaking and steering are all affected due to the limited traction from misalignment. Wet weather driving control is also significantly impaired.
Shiny, melting dashboards blinding drivers, i receive a notification to change dashboards by the mazda, i take the vehicle to the consignee they notify me that because it is in the reconstructed category, the change will not be carried.i live in the south of florida where temperatures are high throughout the year, apart from the dangerous glare the gases generated by the right of the plastic are affecting my health.
The contact owns a 2009 mazda 6. The contact stated that the dashboard was melting. As a result, the sun caused a glare which impaired the contact's vision. There was also a sticky substance present. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact also stated that the vehicle's alarm activated randomly. The failure recurred multiple times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing. The mechanic stated that the rear driver side door failed to close and the door latch was replaced. The failure recurred and the front passenger side door latch was replaced. The contact was made aware of nhtsa campaign number: 13v425000 (latches/locks/linkages); however, the vin was not included. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 40,000.
This vehicle had the front sub-frame replaced based on nhtsa complaint 11100333 and the subsequent recall from mazda with nhtsa id 18v-631. It is now two years later and the rear sub-frame was so rotted that it was falling apart. My vehicle would not pass the state safety inspection without it being fixed. It was repaired by a non-dealer mechanic in feb 2020. The mechanic tried for several months to get a new rear sub-frame but could not because it is on manufacturer back-order. Since this is my only vehicle and i needed it to be fixed asap, a used sub-frame had to be installed. Because the new part was unavailable this makes me think that this is a widespread problem and the manufacturer can't keep up with the demand. I was told by a mazda dealer that the rear sub-frame is not covered under the same recall as the front. Both items were manufactured at the same time using the same inferior steel so i think this should also be covered. I definitely feel that another mazda recall should be issued for the rear sub-frame.*dt *as
The front engine cradle/subframe, lower control arms is rusted/corroded to the point that i was advised car would not pass inspection and that if parts failed, engine would fall under car and i could loose all steering/brakes.per request from mazda car was taken to dealer who confirmed extent of corrosion.this corrosion did not happen in an instant after warranty but started and continued to worsen during warranty period.only saw this when non-dealer was putting new tires on car and noted extent of corrosion.
Rusted subframemechanic's inspection at 100,000 miles revealed severe rusting of subframe. This is a safety concern because if it breaks it would allow the engine and transmission to fall out of place. I have ordered a replacement part but it is unavailable until july. In the meantime, it feels as though i am driving a time bomb. I am filing this complaint because it seems abnormal for a structural component to rot out so quickly and because it seems to be a common problem for this make and model.
The contact owns a 2009 mazda a6.the contact stated that the dash board was melting.the manufacturer was contacted. The vehicle was not repaired.the failure mileage was 50,000 and the current 75,000.
I usually get my girlfriends oil changed on her 09 mazda 6 4 cyl at a local shop but decided to do the oil change myself. Upon inspection while waiting for the oil to drain i noticed a significant amount of rust corrosion on the right rear where the subframe attaches. It's sad because we have only had the car a year and a half and before we bought it it was actually really clean underneath. I honestly don't see this 2009 mazda passing inspection again and would like to know if mazda will help out. Do we keep driving this car and risking our and everyone else's life's ? photo is just the bottom. Top side of cross member is much worse. Please help!!??
The vehicle was purchased by me and given to my son to drive a year ago.the vehicle has about 120,000 miles and run perfectly except it won't pass a state inspection because the inspector says the subframe under the engine is so badly rusted, the engine could easily drop out from under the car while in operation.this is a safety hazard and were told mazda is ignoring the issue.
The dashboard started to melt a few months ago, around may. Now the dashboard is permanently sticky and there is a smell arising. In addition, dashboard creates a glare on the windshield which affects the visibility while driving. If you place something on it, there is a black residue that comes off along with it. The melted dashboard is shiny and sticky.
The contact owns a 2009 mazda 6. The contact stated that the dashboard on the vehicle started to melt. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer stated there was nothing that could be done outside of replacing the entire dashboard. The failure mileage was 104,344.
The contact owns a 2009 mazda 6. The contact stated that the dashboard was melting, shiny, and sticky to the touch. The reflection from the sunshine and approaching headlights from oncoming traffic at night affected the contact's vision to safely operate the vehicle. Hennessy mazda (7261 jonesboro rd, building 2, morrow, ga 30260, (844) 237-2079) stated that the extended warranty was expired by six months and nothing could be done to assist with the repair costs. The manufacturer was contacted and advised the contact to call nhtsa. The failure mileage was 125,000.
The contact owns a 2009 mazda mazda6. The contact stated that while the vehicle was at state inspected, the contact was informed that the sub frame was extremely corroded and that the vehicle was unsafe to drive. The vehicle was driven to marketplace mazda dealer located at 3755 w henrietta rd, rochester, ny 14623, (585) 359-4900, for inspection. The contact was informed that the sub frame needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted or notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 87,300.
At 70,000 and 9 years to the day since we purchased the vehicle the front sub-frame is dangerously rusted and close to complete failure. Detected during routine service.
The dashboard has melted. The car is usually parked outside. It started melting in 2017, but it has gotten worse. When the sun is bright, the reflection will cause driving concerns.
Front subframe and engine support rusted out to the point that it was cracked and broken had to be replaced before it resulted in catastrophe loss of control.i had to replace this part @ $2500 just to keep car drive able.i've since sold car after frame was replaced with new oem part.
Passenger side dashboard has become sticky/melting
Rubber around small rear window, not the one that opens, has lost most of the rubber. Noticed this while washing the vehicle. The remaining rubber did not seem dry rotted but it pulls out easily and significantamount is already missing.
Dash board melting and becomes sticky
Currently my car is stationary, unsafe to drive, in a repair shop.the front subframe on the right side is completely rotten to the core. All parts attached (suspension, wheel, etc.) to the frame are falling off. The rotten part is chipping away. My car was making a clanking, banging noise (i believed the muffler or something was loose) so i towed it to the repair shop.when i returned to the repair shop, the manager said she had bad news, lord and behold, she tells and shows me the frame.i could have passed out.if i would have known this car had this problem, i would have never purchased it. To make it worst is the cost to repair the vehicle. My car is not repaired, mazda does not have a recall on this vehicle issue which is not safe, and mazda does not what to help with the expense. Nhtsa, this is very common problem with mazda 6 2009 models; a lot of customers have identified this problem and it is unsafe to drive the vehicle.please do something about this immediately. The current repair shop cannot fix the frame so i must have my vehicle towed to a collision shop. I am not very happy and i am not driving my car.i will go back and take pictures of the frame and send it to you.
The contact owns a 2009 mazda 6. While driving approximately 5 mph, a loud banging noise emitted from the front of the vehicle. The contact discovered that the front passenger side wheel well rusted and caused the suspension to fail. The cause of the failure was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 190,000.
The vehicle is 8 years old, has 133000 miles, has had 1 owner, and has always been housed in a garage. Despite this, the front sub-frame assembly is rusted and rotting and needs to be replaced. I originally brought the vehicle in to get the right inner/outer tie rods and tie rod boot replaced, but once on a lift a mechanic identified the pervasive rust. The mechanic showed me that the rust/rot was so bad that the mount point for the tie rod assembly no longer attaches to the sub-frame.
We were driving my 2009 mazda 6 on 4/25/2018 - which i purchased new in sept., 2009 from berkshire mazda in pittsfield, ma, 01201. The car suddenly veered dangerously to the right at about 50 mph on ny rt 22 (the road had rough pavement) in canaan, ny,went off the road, barely missing two trees. It had to be towed from the scene. If this sub-frame had broken apart 5 minutes later i would have been on i-90 next to semi trucks. Two people in the car could easily have been killed, endangering other motorists as well. There is no rust-through on the body of the car. It has been regularly serviced. It has about 85,000 miles. I called mazda they said there's no recall for sub-frame rust/deterioration. This is the fourth mazda our family has purchased. I have seen numerous other online complaints and descriptions of the 2009 mazda 6 losing directional stability because the front sub-frame had collapsed due to premature rust disintegration. I also see that this particular model: 2009 mazda 6 was recalled in australia for this exact problem. Nhtsa needs to have this recall enacted to protect american lives as well.
While driving my 2009 mazda 6 at 30 mph on a city street the car violently pulled to the right and i had to cut the wheel to the left in order to drive straight. I brought the car to a local mechanic who informed me that the car's subframe had significant rust and rot and was not safe to drive. The car is in otherwise good condition and has approximately 65k miles.
Dash of vehicle on the passenger is beginning to melt.in melting, the dash now has a gloss appeareance that, in the right light, creates a glare while driving.this can make it difficult for the operator to see.
I purchased a used 2009 mazda 6 almost a year ago (november 2017). The vehicle seemed to be in fairly good condition. The seller was up front with any areas of concern and fixed the issues i was concerned about before the vehicle left the lot. I had no issues withthe vehicle there after. An air bag part was recalled on the vehicle that required maintenance from the mazda dealership. Upon having the recalled part corrected the dealership worker informed me that i should be concerned about the front sub frame which is a costly repair. Two months later, still trying to figure out how to come up with the money for this repair, i noticed and issue with the steering. I had the vehicle assessed only to find that the rusted subframe is the cause of my concern. Went online and to my great surprise i am not the only 2009 mazda 6 owner experiencing this. This is a travesty.
I was driving and making a turn when a loud clunking noise occurred and i lost stability of the car. In order to make it to the dealership (which was within a mile), i had to turn the wheel to the left and drive 10mph to maintain stability. Over the 2 days previous to the event i heard occasional clunking noises while driving. The mechanic found significant rust that had gone through the subframe on the front passenger side, rendering it undriveable. They informed me that this was a common problem they had been seeing and that the part is backordered months. The rest of the undercarriage was mostly rust free except for the subframe.
The contact owns a 2009 mazda 6. The contact stated that there was an abnormal noise coming from the vehicle. Upon inspection of the front passenger tire, and front and rear frame, the contact noticed extensive rust and corrosion. The frame also had cracks near the front passenger tire. The vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 17v457000 (air bags), but the contact was not notified. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was to follow-up on the recall information. The approximate failure mileage was 74,151.
The subframe on my 2009 mazda6 has been noticeably rusting over the years since i purchased the car from a mazda dealer as the original owner.over the previous year, mid 2016 to mid 2017, my mechanic had become increasingly concerned with the consequences that would come from the subframe rust and suggested we start documenting and referring the problem to mazda.the mechanic's concern was related to the decrease in strength of the subframe and its ability to continue to support the engine weight.his fear was that the engine would drop out of the bottom of the car onto the road after going over a bump on the highway.the mazda6 was brought into a mazda dealer in march and june of 2017 for service related to brake light and takata inflator recall.the problem with the rusted subframe was identified by the service mechanic during the second visit, june 1, 2017, and the service department noted on the service ticket "subframe rotted" and "car is not safe"(attached).the problem was also directed to mazda on their on-line complaint service.the original text to mazda is not available from me as this was an on-line form as this one is.the response from mazda (attached) was that there were no recalls for the subframe rust problem and that the warranty on the vehicle did not cover the subframe rust problem.it is unimaginable to me or anyone that i have presented this issue too, that a car with daily use and typical mileage would have a subframe that is results in a vehicle that is unsafe to operate after only 7-8 years.
I have been taking my 2009 mazda 6 (60,000 miles) to the dealer for regular maintenance since i bought the car.it gets taken to the dealer twice a year for regular oil changes and tire rotations.on the most recent oil change and tire rotation, they said that the front crossmember engine cradle had severe corrosion and rusted through.if the repair is not done and the when, not if, the part fails the engine may fall out of the car and the front tires will fail to steer.this is a major safety liability!a crucial component to support the most important part of the car should not rust and fail on a car that has less than 7,000 miles driven per year.
I recently noticed out of no where the dashboard on my car cracked for no reason it is right by the front passenger airbag. It is also extremely sticky . I don't feel safe driving it in this condition
The contact owns a 2009 mazda 6. The contact stated that the dashboard on the passenger side was melted and created a visibility hazard. While driving during the day time, the sun reflected onto the dashboard. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer and dean patterson mazda (101 pleasant valley blvd, altoona, pa) were notified of the failure. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 102,000.
This past week, while driving my vehicle to and from work on a public roadway, the steering wheel was off-center and the vehicle started to shift to the side of the road while vehicle was in motion while driving straight.i took it to an auto repair shop and they told me the sub frame is completely split in half and all corroded.the vehicle is undriveable right now.it's going to be very expensive to repair.
Engine cradle broke, causing the steering to lock up. I was driving approximatly 45 mph straight on a rural state route, i braked slightly to slow downthen the car just locked up and slid off the road.had it towed and found that the engine cradle was broken.after doing some research i found this to be a problem with this year and model.
The contact owns a 2009 mazda 6. While driving 10 mph, the contact heard an abnormal noise coming from the front of the vehicle. The contact parked the vehicle in the middle of the street because it was unable to be driven. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic. The contact spoke with woodhouse place mazda (located at 8606 s 145th st, omaha, ne 68138, (402) 397-8300) and was informed that the failure was due to nhtsa campaign number: 18v631000 (suspension, structure). The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 144,000. Action number xxxxxxxphotos attached'parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).'
The contact owns a 2009 mazda mazda6. While driving and depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle veered to the right. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who changed the brake pads, but the failure continued. Upon inspection, it was discovered that the front subframe of the vehicle was rusted and corroded. The manufacturer was notified and the contact was advised to tow the vehicle to the local dealer (morries mazda, 13700 wayzata blvd, minnetonka, mn). The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was confirmed that the subframe was rusted and corroded. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 150,000.*consumer stated mazda usa is replacing the subframe for us. Either way this is a huge issue with cars on the road that could cause major accidents. The sub frame was so rusted that you could put your hands through in many different places. Very dangerous. Updated 10/26/18
The contact owns a 2009 mazda 6. While the vehicle was being diagnosed for a cyclical noise in the engine, the contact was informed by lannan mazda (720 rogers st, lowell, ma 01852, (978) 454-9300) that there was severe rust and separation of the subframe in the engine compartment. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 132,000. The vin was not available.
While driving at highway speed (55-65mph) the steering wheel began progressively rotating counter-clockwise with the vehicle remaining straight.the dynamic stability control turned off as if the vehicle was out of control and the vehicle acted as if it were on icy/slick surfaces no longer providing support to the driver.the braking system began to struggle nearly causing an accident on the off ramp of the expressway causing a fishtail with the abs attempting to engage.at this point the steering wheel was registering straight' with the steering wheel turned approximately 30 degrees left.somehow at speeds less than 15 mph the vehicle was driven to the local mazda dealership where it has a service history for an emergency service inspection.a test drive with a service representative supported the owner's complaints of a severe safety concern with right turns causing a significant 'grinding'/metallic dragging sound as if the vehicle's rightunder-side was contacting the ground.after inspecting the vehicle in the lift the mechanic determined therewas front passenger frame metal corrosion which was breaking off in chunks.the dealership voiced awareness of another 2009 mazda6 with similar miles (approximately 15,000 fewer)having nearly the same issue last fall/winter. The vehicle in this report has approximately 189,000 primarily highway miles and is otherwise in excellent condition for its year/make/model.the aforementioned frame failure should never happen and is believed to be a manufacturer defect which should not be the responsibility of the owner.fortunately in this case there was not an automobile accident/collision, injury, or death though this could have easily happened.i do believe there is an extremely serious problem here and needs to be investigated as human lives are at stake.
The entire passenger side dashboard is gooey, sticky black. If you touch itgets all over your hands, and everything will stick to it. It appears to be melting away. This started a few years ago.recently i noticed the rear headlights look as if they are warped from the inside, as if it was a melted candle.
The front of the sub frame on the right side has rusted and the car is not driveable.the steering is pretty much disabled. I was able to get it to the shop which is a mile away.it will take two months to repair as parts are not readily available.
Loss of steering due to passenger side rusted sub frame
I was driving to a medical appt on local roads when i noticed a thumping sound from the front left, as if the tire were going flat. I stopped and inspected the tire and found no problems, so i continued on to the appt less than a mile away. Leaving the appt i felt the car suddenly pulling sharply to the right, and the dsc-off light came on. Turning right caused a loud squeaking noise. I drove immediately to a mazda dealership that was fortunately only a mile or so away. They examined the car and found that it is unsafe to drive due to severe rusting of the front subframe (right side). They said that if i had hit a pothole the right front tire may have broken off, endangering my life and the lives of others. The dealership was unable to locate a used subframe, and new subframes are on backorder until june - leaving me to find alternate means of transportation for at least a month. Living in a northern climate i expect cars to rust, but a 9 year old car with only 70,000 miles should not have deteriorated to such a level this quickly.
Driver side front door would not latch, inspected to find all three door latch mounting screw were missing, and the door latch was falling down inside the door. Very dangerous, and i was stranded in a parking lot with a driver door that could not be latched.
Rust through of engine cradle frame on passenger side of vehicle.discovered during oil change.
Driver side front door would not latch upon entry to the vehicle.inspection showed that all 4 screws were missing from the latch mechanism.inspection of the other 3 doors showed that up to 3 of the 4 screws were missing from them.every door had at least 1 missing screw.
Had the oil changed yesterday at 93000 miles and was told subframe was extremely rusted. They suggested we only drive in town because it could break with any stress and cause loss of steering.10
Door latch sticks when opening, causing door to possibly stay open unbeknownst to driver and cause door to open while driving and possibly eject non secured persons or objects in car. Found out during operation when the door next to my toddler swung opened in a turn.
I recently noticed that my dashboard has become cracked and very sticky . I do notknow how this happened when i contacted mazda to get it fixed i was told they can not replace that part . I don't know what to do i feel stuck i paid a lot of money for this car
Dashboard is melting; very sticky to the touch even while in the garage.
The rod to the door handle inside the front passenger door fell in due to the recall that happened back in december 2013. The recall only replaced screws on the part that was still in the door. It did not cover the part that fell in because the screws fell out that hold the piece in. The door will not open from the outside without the rod attached. This is due to the first recall. We had no idea the screws fell out until the door would not open from the outside and we examined it. It should of been part of the original recall. This could create a situation where if there is an accident or issue and the passenger is not aware of what is going no one from the outside would be able to open the door to get them help or get them out. This should be a new recall. This should of been covered in the original recall and paid for by mazda to fix.
Front drivers side would not close.upon checking all the screws holding the latch were missing.
When i tried to get into my car the door got stuck and only open about 2 inches. When i finally opened it and got in the car the door would not close. When i checked it i realized that all 3 screws were missing and the door latch had shifted.
2009 mazda 6. Consumer writes regarding outer door handle voluntary safety recall 5209a *tgwthe consumer stated the dashboard indicator light illuminated indicating that one of the doors was still open while the vehicle was in motion.despite checking to make sure all the doors were securely closed, the light continued to stay on, until the consumer stopped and turned off the engine.also, the abs, tcs and brake indicators illuminated as well.the consumer then discovered he was not able to lock the vehicle by using the lock button on the driver's side door handle. The button was non-responsive and symptoms only worsened as time went by. The consumer went to a repair facility and a diagnostics test revealed the faulty door handle was the reason for the malfunction.the consumer stated he was never informed of the recall. When the consumer went back to the dealer, he was informed, his vin was not included.

The contact owns a 2009 mazda 6. The contact stated that the passenger side subframe was rusted, which made the vehicle difficult to maneuver and affected the alignment. The contact self-diagnosed the vehicle, but it was not taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing or repairs. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was approximately 151,000.
Engine cradle/crossmember is severely deteriorated on the passenger side. Excessive rust and holes in the structure. My concern is a safety issue in driving the car and having it stay together.
Front subframe and engine support rusted out to the point that it was cracked and broken had to be replaced before it resulted in catastrophe loss of control.i had to replace this part @ $2500 just to keep car drive able.i've since sold car after frame was replaced with new oem part.
Car was recalled for front crossmember.no repair was needed.told by dealer that the rear crossmember needed to be replaced at cost of $2,000 as it was rusted through and r/r coil spring could pop through
Vehicle has a grinding/buzzing sound (when vehicle is in motion) coming from the front passenger side. Took the vehicle to a mechanic to be inspected and extensive rust and corrosion was found on the subframe. I am thankful that this was discovered before a major malfunction which could lead to a serious accident or death. From reading the many complaints of this problem on this website, i hope that madza will address this issue.
The car has only 31,000 original miles and i'm the original owner. The entire rear subframe and suspension assy is heavily rusted and suspension bushings are rotting.this is a common problem among owners in north eastern states and mid atlantic. Mazda recalled the front subframes but not the rear. This is a major safety defect and will result in the car having to be scrapped before it accumulates many more miles.
I am having trouble with my alignment going out had it done and a day later went back out. Apon review it turn out the sub frame by the motor cradle is disintegrated causing the problems with steering and alignment.
The contact owns a 2009 mazda 6. The contact stated that nhtsa campaign number: 18v631000 (suspension) exceeded a reasonable amount of time for repair. The contact received the recall notification in september of 2018. Ourisman volkswagen mazda of rockville (801 rockville pike, rockville, md 20852) was contacted and stated that the vehicle was previously repaired; therefore, there was no need to bring the vehicle to the dealer. The manufacturer had not been contacted. The contact had not experienced a failure. Vin tool confirms parts not available. Consumer stated vehicle was taken to dealer on april 2019 for2818i recallfront cross member corrosion- possible rust holes inspected. No holes, light rust inspection only.
Subframe and rotting.live in menomonee falls as well. Rust occurs abnormally fast in the whole hoiusing of mazda 6.
This car was bought used. After suspension inspection i found out that the front subframe is extremely rusty and immediate replacement is necessary. According to the body condition there were no any incidents which may affected the subframe condition. Further driving with this is dangerous.
In september 2017 while driving on a city street at approximately 30 mph there was a sudden and significant loss of steering control following a loud knock originating from the front end of the vehicle.upon inspection the front crossmember/sub-frame was completely corroded to the point of breaking.the steering rack became totally separated from its mounts on the passenger side resulting in the steering loss.the failure occurred at 85,583 miles.since the failure i have attempted to get this fixed. However, even after trying to get a replacement sub-frame from 4 different dealerships, i have been unable to get one for the last 7 months.they are back ordered and every time the date comes around, the date is pushed back further again, again, and again.i have reached out to mazda's north american customer service (service request number 1-1245266941) and in the last month have gotten no more than we'll look into when a replacement will be available.in researching this problem, it is apparent that this is far from an isolated incident as many others with this model car report failures of this exact nature.the employees of the local mazda parts departments are well aware of the complaints as well and have stated to me they are surprised that mazda has not initiated a recall or tsb regarding this issue.these failures have the potential to create a significant risk of injury and it is my belief that mazda is not treating this situation with the seriousness and promptness that it warrants.it is my understanding that this same part is was installed on not only the 2009 models, but all model years through 2013.if there is not corrective action taken, it is reasonable to expect this problem to persist for years to come as the other later models age.
Hello, back a few years ago mazda issued a recall for the front subframe of our mazda 6 due to premature and extremely damaging rust that rendered the vehicle dangerous. We had this replaced and all was fine until not that long ago when we had to repair an exhaust leak and in the process realized how bad the rear subframe is rusted out as well... I've noticed the back wheels of our car have been cambered out by a few degrees for a few months and i'm pretty sure this is due to the rear suspension and rear subframe components collapsing on themselves due to the rust weakening the metal. I have some pictures which i will attach. Mazda currently does not have a recall for this part but we would, and many other mazda owners out there on the forums would like a recall to be issued due to the extremely expensive nature of the subframe repair... I would really love to hear back from you all on this issue, i believe the car is fairly unsafe to drive at the moment... Thanks in advance!
This report is concerning a dealer, matt castrucci mazda, in dayton, ohio.this dealer failed to offer us, the customer, an appointment to inspect our vehicle for safety due to the recall on mazda 6s for the suspension, structure recall.we repeatedly called to schedule an appointment and were repeatedly told that they did not have the parts and that they would contact us when they received the parts.we called several times from the date of receiving the recall until finally we called and they said they had the parts.we scheduled the appointment.when we arrived, they stated they did not have the parts but we had a few other things for them to look at so they kept the vehicle.they did then inspect the vehicle and found it unsafe to drive.we are very upset that our son was driving an unsafe vehicle and believe that it was the dealer's responsibility to have recommended to us that we bring it in for inspection the first time we called for an appointment and this did not happen.i asked the dealer to forego a charge for a test they performed regarding a tire pressure indicator light as consideration for their mishandling of the situation, for which they refused, refusing to acknowledge that they should have scheduled an appointment to inspect our vehicle the first time we called to preclude a customer driving an unsafe vehicle.i would like for someone to file a report that this dealer is incompetent and willfully and intentionally were neglectful of their duty to inspect a vehicle for a safety recall when contracted by the customer..
My complaint is regarding excessive rust/corrosion of the subframe of my vehicle that was recently discovered during a routine oil change. I am at just under 113,000 miles, and the car is otherwise in greatcondition. I expected a good five more years of use, but now, due to the dangerous circumstances, i am in search of a new car.i purchased my mazda new in march of 2009, and other than routine maintenance there have been no major issues. The passenger side wheel bearings were replaced just over a year ago, and the car still had a noise coming from that area immediately following. We were told at that time that it must be something loose in the wheel. The noises seemed to worsen and multiply recently. At times the car would seem to feel a wobble (best word i can think of) at higher speeds. Luckily this was noticed before something tragic happened. Now i am left with an inoperable car that i will need to pay an estimated $1,600 minimum to repair with a wait time of at least three months. The shop to which i take my car said they have seen this before in mazdas and some hondas. They suspect it could be an a/c draining flaw. I live in northeast ohio, but there is no other rust on the car. I am glad i did a search and did not just accept this as normal.however, i am wondering how many others out there have, and have not placed a complaint.
Went to take my car to the mechanics today for a loud humming noise. Come to find out my front cross member is rotted out. This seams to be a common problem. The ac leaks right on the suspension. Can't wait to see what this is going to cost.
Subframe has severe corrosion, rotted out. Only one bolt holding the rack and pinion.hard to keep the car in the road.steers to one side.make popping noises when turning certain directions.steering wheel shakes when driving on freeway when reaching speed of 40-50.
2009 mazda mazda6. 121000 miles. 9.5 years old. Driver side of front subframe rusted through and cracked. First noticed that the steering wheel was turned 1/4 left of where it should be when the vehicle was moving straight. Had mechanic assess. Paid $90 for alignment. Drove vehicle again. Backed out of driveway and heard pop. Steering felt much looser. Difficult to control vehicle.when depressing the brake quickly in traffic, the vehicle pulled strongly to one side. Wheel would not center. Vehicle would no longer maintain consistent steering. Had driven and checked at mechanic. Diagnosed rusted and cracked subframe. Mechanic found used subframe from maryland. Quoted $2000 minimum for repair. Could be more if bolts were rusted holding frame in or repair required work from top side. All other systems on vehicle in excellent shape (no issues) with electrical, engine, etc. Had hoped to get 3 more years out of vehicle. New york state conditions are conducive to rust, but this failure is serious, could have led to a serious accident, and seems premature.
The contact owns a 2009 mazda 6. The contact called on behalf of the driver. While driving 55 mph, the vehicle shook violently and pulled to the right. In addition, the traction control warning indicator illuminated. The contact was able to coast the vehicle to the side of the road and noticed that the wheel rim was tilted outwards, striking the fender well. Also, the a arm was detached and the frame was corroded. An independent mechanic inspected the vehicle and stated that a new subframe would be needed. The contact called paul miller ford at (888) 776-0844 (located at 975 e new circle rd, lexington, ky 40505), but no assistance was offered. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 170,000. The vin was not available.
I have been having something making noise in the rear end of the vehicle since feb. I had people check it during oil change and said everything looked fine. On 06/21/2018 while getting a tire fixed i had this company check the noise. They discovered that the rear drivers side subframe had rusted away and becoming a safety hazard.so this is about a $1300 fix not counting new parts that will connect to the subframe. The subframe is on backorder for the next 3 to 4 weeks. So just hoping car will stay together until then. Also mazda only has to subframes in stock within the us and doesn't sound like willing to ship here. The front subframe does have rust but not putting it on a lift until rear subframe is here as i think the lift is stressing the read subframe.
Component - rear subframe/crossmember.yes it is available for inspection. I was driving and suddenly heard a loud crack and the rear drivers side of my vehicle dropped to the ground.i was getting ready to pull into a parking lot so i was luckily driving slowly.if i were traveling at the normal speed limit, i could have wrecked and possibly caused injury to myself or others on the road.upon inspection from the mechanic, the rear subframe is completely rusted out and broke as a result.after research, i found that the front subframe/crossmember was recalled in 2018 for rust issues.this car had the recalled repaired.but mazda has no recall for the rear.there were no warnings that this was going to happen.
The sub frame on my 2009 mazda 6 broke while my husband was coming to a stop, which nearly caused an accident. He was able to drive it at a very low speed to a nearby service station. They were able to get it on a lift to survey the damage - it had a severely rusted sub frame that broke and had to be replaced. He was on vacation and had to have the car towed 300 miles to our local mazda dealer. The local dealer said "they had never seen this", we also have contacted mazda, several times they have blatantly ignored us. The car has been well maintained, i am the original owner, the body of the car has no rust !
Loss of steering due to passenger side rusted sub frame
Last year, on my mechanic's advice, i purchaseda structural cross member for my 2009 mazda 6.mechanic said cross member was in severely deteriorated condition, and required immediate attention.i can provide invoices if appropriate.total cost, part plus labor, was roughly $1000..fortunately we caught this problem before a steering issue or other problem arose.
Front sub frame is completely rusted out to the point of braking and immediately not safe to drive, rest of the undercarriage is completely clean of rust. Mazda corp. Has denied claim to repair the damage under warranty. Please advise.
While driving car the front passenger wheel moved sideways; it was discovered after being towedthat the sub frame (or engine cradle) was rusted and broken in a few places; mazda claims that they have no problem with rusted frames but have had them for this model on back order for 6 months; it cost $1100.00 to replace the frame and 6 weeks to get a used one.
I brought my 2009 mazda6 in for the recalled front cross member corrosion safety recall.after an inspection i was told it qualified for a replacement.i authorized the work and picked the car up a few days later.we did not receive the normal maintenance sheet.after driving the car the next few days the at (automatic transmission) light came on and transmission started to slip.we serviced the transmission fluid with 3 quarts and found damage and leak just above the cross member recall repair.we returned the car to the dealer and informed mazda customer care.walser mazda of burnsville said the transmission line has rusted and repair costs would be around $400.i said the damage to the line was when the recall repair was done.the car was driven less than 250 miles since the repair and leaked out 3 quarts of fluid.i believe the sharp edge of the cross member damaged the transmission line when the recall repair was done.damage should be the cost of the dealer.document possible damage when this recall is preformed.
Both front wheel bearings went out (simultaneously) over a period of about five days, and there was no crash or accident.it appears to be highly likely that the bearings were defective from the manufacturer for both of them to fail at this low mileage.the vehicle was taken to a mazda dealer, and the technician that did the repair stated that he had never seen both front wheel bearings go bad at such low mileage, and agreed that the bearings were likely defective.
Valve stem cracked then completely broke off under the plastic cap. The tire pressure warning light had been coming on 2-3 days prior to incident.each morning when cold during first start up light would come on, after a few minutes of driving after vehicle warmed light would turn off.on way home from work traveling 70mph light came back on.took the next exit and stopped at gas station to fill up tires, removed valve stem cap and installed air hose.air hose could not fill up tire, air just came out of the side of stem, reinstalled valve cap.at that time we didn't know the stem was cracked so i drove the car very slowly approx 3 miles to my parents house so my dad could help.he tried to remove the valve cap, at this time the stem completely broke off at the threads and stayed with the cap.the stem internal parts sprang out so it was necessary to remove the tire and install the spare.we took the tire to nearest belle tire so they could replace the stem but since it was a dealer only part all they could was replace it with a standard rubber stem with no sensor.they mentioned it was a common problem they had seen before, to which i was very surprised.these sensors were created to combat low air pressure after the "tread act" and ironically are causing a low air pressure.the original cause of the pressure light was due to a slightly bent rim on the inside.this had a slow leak after belle tire replaced the stem.we took the tire to brighton mazda the following day to replace the sensor, they too said they had seen cracked stems in the past.please look into this and determine if this is a safety issue.i think its very ironic this is happening when the free rubber stems almost never fail and $70 sensors are breaking on a 3 year old car.
Tire pressure sensor failed while traveling down highway, when finally able to pull over tire was completely flat and ruined, valve stem fell apart in hand while trying to remove valve stem cap, this is the 3rd occurrence while owning this vehicle, very lucky this time that it was a back tire and not a front.each time that i have complained to dealership, i am told that the tire shops that are replacing my tires don't know what they are doing of which i disagree. I have seen many forums regarding this issue with mazda 3's and 6's, each time being told the tire shops don't know what they are doing.mazda needs to step up and acknowledge a poor design, come up with a better one and recall these bad tire sensor valves before someone is seriously injured or killed.
While driving at 55 mph, the low pressure warning light came on.i attempted to get to a safe place to check my tire but the tire went flat too quickly.i had to change the tire on the road.the tire pressure monitoring device had failed and fallen inside the tire resulting in a rapid pressure drop.corrosion had caused the nut to break apart and fall off.within 6 months the same thing happened on a different tire.driving at 55 mph, the warning light came on and i immediately pulled over to watch my tire rapidly going flat - all within about 20 seconds.i changed my tire on a very busy highway.i was lucky that this did not happen on a multi-lane thruway.this is a very serious safety hazard - the mandated safety device is the cause of the hazard.
For the second time in a year the air valve on one of the tire pressure sensors on our mazda corroded and snapped off as i was putting air in the tire. I'm very grateful this happened while the car was in our driveway and not while my wife or daughter was driving the car.
The contact was servicing a 2009 mazda mazda6. The contact stated that the valve stem on the tire pressure mounting train system was rusted and corroded and causing the tire to leak air abnormally. The contact did not inform the dealer or manufacturer of the failure, nor was the vehicle repaired. The current mileage was 50,349 and the failure mileage was 43,349.
The contact owns a 2009 mazda mazda6. The contact stated that while driving, the psi warning light illuminated. The front driver side tire deflated immediately after the warning light illuminated.the vehicle was taken to a repair shop where the contact was advised that there was corrosion on the valve stem for the four tires. The front driver side valve was completely damaged by corrosion.the vehicle was repaired by replacing the four valve stems and the tires. The manufacturer was not made aware of failure. The current mileage and failure mileage was 48,888.
2009 mazda 6.consumer writes in regards to tire sensor valve issues.the consumer stated the low tire pressure light illuminated frequently. It was determined, the valve was corroded.the valve was replaced with a cheaper one. While driving 65 mph, the consumer experienced a flat on another tire due to corrosion and a cracked sensor valve.the consumer replaced all four valves due to corrosion.
The contact owns a 2009 mazda 6. While the contact was placing air into the front driver's side tire, he found that the valve stem was corroded and fractured. In addition, the low tire pressure warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was towed to dean patterson chevrolet cadillac (101 pleasant valley blvd, altoona, pa 16602, (814) 942-2222) where it was diagnosed that the sensor and valve stem needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 104,000.
Valve stem sheared off of tire pressure sensor. I had the car serviced yesterday. During the oil change, the technician also inflated the tires to 32lbs each. Today the tire pressure monitoring system indicated a low tire. Passenger rear tire was 23.5 pounds. As i was putting air in the tire, the valve stem literally sheared off causing complete loss of air and a flat tire. I went to the dealer and the tire pressure sensor needed to be replaced. Out of pocket cost: $130.78.upon inspection of the valve stem, galvanic corrosion can be clearly seen. Photo available on request.
When i went to go remove the valve stem cap to check the air pressure, the valve stem broke off with the valve cap revealing the valve core.the tire was deflated within seconds.further inspection of the valve stem showed that it was corroded.the valve stem broke off exactly at the point where the cap was screwed to.the dealership did not cover the cost for repairs as my car is not under warranty anymore.the cost for repairs came from my pocket.

I recently noticed that my dashboard has become cracked and very sticky . I do notknow how this happened when i contacted mazda to get it fixed i was told they can not replace that part . I don't know what to do i feel stuck i paid a lot of money for this car
Right side of the dashboard has become sticky, melting, and causing major reflection issues, day and night
I was cleaning my car and found that the passenger side dashboard was sort of melting. Lint from my towel was sticking to it. I thought it might somehow have something on it, so i kept scrubbing, and the problem got worse. I tried cleaning it on a cloudy, cool day, but the lint was still stuck, not coming off!
Our dash is melting and is putting a glare on the front window. It has a awful smell and is very sticky. We have called the mazda company and we were told that we will have to purchase a new dash our self. There is other complaints online from others who are having the same problem with the dash in there mazda
I have noticed that my dashboard is melting and is very gooey and sticky. It is now creating a very hazardous glare on my windshield. This is only on the passenger side. It is also emitting a very unpleasant odor that i feel could be toxic.i really need to know what can be done by the manufacturerto fix this problem before it gets worse or may cause someone drivingthis vehicleto cause an accident due to the glare that is now interfering and we cannot get a clear view of what'sin front of us.
When i got the vehicle i noticed the dashboard was really sticky and i didn't know how but then i met someone with the same vehicle with the same issue. My back seat is very loose and makes noises when driving

Other than the dash issue i have only had minor issues with all categories of my mazda auto's! nhtsa p l e a s e.....delete the earlier stement hereinnhtsa id # 10726451 6/21/2015.satisfied mazda customer!
I first noticed my dash in my car today.the dash in my car appears to be melting.it is sticky, and beginning to have a shine to it.this area is located over the airbag area of the dash.i am not sure what can be done to fix this problem.
Subframe has severe corrosion, rotted out. Only one bolt holding the rack and pinion.hard to keep the car in the road.steers to one side.make popping noises when turning certain directions.steering wheel shakes when driving on freeway when reaching speed of 40-50.
After a few years of owning the vehicle the dashboard became very sticky.in may of 2015 the dashboard over the passenger side airbag has begun melting.there is a spot about 2" in diameter that is melted.in addition the foam tape between the front windshield and dash continues to come undone and start coming off.i have replaced this foam tape about 3 years ago at a mazda dealership and it has come undone again.i currently live in alabama and i always use a sunscreen.
Melting, sticking dashboard causing glare on windshield. This problem has been ongoing, and it is only worsening.
The dashboard in my car is melting and is sticky and shinny. This is impossible to clean and if touched it results in black plastic fragments coming off. The dashboard remains like this no matter the weather and even if it is no longer hot inside or outside the car. The most impacted area is on the passenger side of the dashboard. This issue appears to be getting worse this summer.
I was pulled into a parking lot going about 5 mph hit a pothole and i lost control
....toyota and other companies have taken ethical action to recognize this factory/product defect and are responding professionally to their customers.mazda continues to ignore the complaints and has taken no recall, etc action.why hasn't the nhtsaexploited mazda's greed and lack of customer support via the news and internet?mazda spends millions on advertising..........but doesn't won't to address this safety issue!jf...............a mazda customer of 30 years that is very disappointed in mazda!
The dashboard is sticky on the left side .just keep bigger and bigger.
I own a mazda 6 2009 and i have taken it to the dealership and even paid out of own pocket a rental car for 2 hours while they fixed a recal and then they get it done mind u im already 2 hours away from home so i go pick my car back up and they call me the next day needing my car badly to fix the other recals well this time they was willing to meet me with a loaner vehical half way.. My dashboard is sticky and melting. This is very bad !!!!!!and very concern about the air bag.
As well as the takata recall, the passenger side of my vehicle is literally melting off. The airbag cover is sticky to the touch and who knows if it is melted into place. I've seen many other complaints and i've seen that mazda has tried to charge people for labor which is absurd.
The dashboard of the passenger side has started to melt. When i put my hand on it stick and my hand is black.
Passenger side dash board is sticky and shiny. If the sunlight hits on the shiny spots it creates a glare that is distracting, especially if driving. I also worry about the airbags deploying properly if the vehicle is in a accident. Contacted local mazda dealer and they never called me back. Contacted mazda costumer service. They said there was never a recall on the dash board, but several websites say that there was a recall. Representative for mazda said that at the time i took my vehicle to the local dealership in 2017 to fix other recalls my dash board was inspected and showed no issues so it wasn't replaced. So now for my dash board replacement to be considered i must take my vehicle to have a diagnostic done and i must pay. Representative also says that a replacement was highly unlikely.
While driving at speeds above 30 the door ajar light flickers and the dome light goes on and off. I have already had the door latch recalls fixed on my car. It is fighten to think the door may fly open
The front cradle assembly was rusted through and broke while i was on the highway.my mechanic said he had never seen anything like it on a car this new and it could have caused a very serious accident.a mechanic at the dealership where i bought the car said he has never had a problem like this with a mazda 6.
Dash of vehicle on the passenger is beginning to melt. In melting, the dash now has a gloss appearance that, in the sun light, creates a glare while driving.
I am having trouble with my alignment going out had it done and a day later went back out. Apon review it turn out the sub frame by the motor cradle is disintegrated causing the problems with steering and alignment.
The dashboard to my 2009 mazda 6 is melting.i tried going to the dealership where i purchased the vehicle but they said there wasn't anything they could do because my vehicle was out of warranty.they suggested i contact mazda which i did to file a report.
Side mirrors are discoloring causing viewing problems
My dashboard is "melting".i have tried using a sun protector between the dash and window but the protector is sticking to and peeling off of the dash.is there anything i can do?the warranty has passed but i believe there is a lawsuit against mazda for this exact problem.
Engine surges when i brake, but not always.usually it is when i'm going straight ahead, however, it has done it in a turn and once backing up.this has happened again today, and after i had throttle body cleaning done two weeks ago.
Took my car to a repair shop to investigate a rattling noise coming from my car. The rattling was caused by the catalytic converter heat shield being loose. While the car was being looked at the mechanic noticed that the right hand side of the sub frame was rusting away. This transpired january 18, 2018. The repair shop has been trying to get a replacement part without success. I am now being told that the earliest they could get one is the middle of may. My inspection expired the end of march. I find it very difficult to believe that mazda doesn't have this part available anywhere. I fortunately have not had an accident while driving this car.
I recently noticed out of no where the dashboard on my car cracked for no reason it is right by the front passenger airbag. It is also extremely sticky . I don't feel safe driving it in this condition
The front subframe broke due to being rotted through. This happened while i was driving
Dashboard is melting and it creates a glare that reflects on the windshield making it difficultto see ahead, especially on sunny days or at night. Thought it was an isolated case until decided to do some research on it, finding out it is happening to plenty of other consumers.
The dash material above the passenger airbag has been deteriorating and melting as if a chemical reaction has occurred. This winter the section in question has generated several cracks and fissures in the surface.
My mazda 6 started overheating during a heavytraffic day. Ever since, i noticed it would only startover heating only when the car is idle at a light, traffic, or parked for about 5 minutes and thenslowly start creeping up. If i give it some rpm, thegauge comes back to normal reading.*additional info- heater only works when riding- i have to add a bit of coolant everyday- changed thermostat, fan control module andfans work well.
The dashboard is melting and the mate black material has become sticky and shiny causing a glare on the windshield.
Right side of the dashboard has become sticky, melting, and causing major reflection issues, day and night
Hello, i purchased my a mazda from a mazda dealer in my area. At the time of my car purchase in 2017, they chose not to fix the dashboard recall before selling me the car. Now during summer 2020 my dashboard has shown to become sticky on the passenger side. It is now starting to obstruct my view with a glare, making it harder for me to see out of my windshield. I called the dealership and they are saying the recall is closed and they can't help me. I even called the mazda customer support and they shut me down. They said that the problem must have occurred within 10 years of the cars production.this happened to me a few days ago and now is getting worse. They would not have fixed the dashboard within the time frame because it showed no damage until now. Please help and make them pay for my dashboard! it is unethical to have me pay for a design and safety flaw out of my own pocket. Especially one they failed to tell me about or fix before they sold me the car.
I first noticed my dash in my car today.the dash in my car appears to be melting.it is sticky, and beginning to have a shine to it.this area is located over the airbag area of the dash.i am not sure what can be done to fix this problem.
Dashboard is melting and it creates a glare that reflects on the windshield making it difficultto see ahead, especially on sunny days or at night. Thought it was an isolated case until decided to do some research on it, finding out it is happening to plenty of other consumers.
Dashboard melting under normal driving and storage conditions. The dashboard of this vehicle is oozing a black tacky substance that shimmers in sunlight. The shimmer is reflected into the windshield resulting in an unsafe driving condition.
Passenger side mirror defected. Does not tint when needed and half the mirror stays tinted, which can be a safety issue at night time.
The dash has developed a glossy sheen from the deterioration of the material. Due to the deterioration, the dash cannot be cleaned and over the past year the affected area has grown. Due to the glossy nature of the affected area, light reflects onto the windshield causing reduced visibility. There have been several close calls when turning and the change in angle of the sunlight and the resulting reflection has prevented the driver from seeing objects in the path of the vehicle as it turns to the right including pedestrians and cars entering the roadway. The incident of close calls will increase with the increase in the affected area of the dash and will become increasingly dangerous if the affected area spreads to the driver side of the dash.
2009 mazda 6. Consumer writes in regards to various safety recalls issued for this vehicle. *ldthe consumer stated after the air bag sensor was replaced, but the airbag light remained illuminated. It was reprogrammed , but the failure recurred. The doors and windows would lock, leaving occupants trapped in the vehicle nor would the vehicle start. The horn would malfunction. The horn relay was taken out due to the horn unexpectedly sounding off. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures, but did not offer any assistance. The vin number was invalid. Updated 08/23/2017
Driving along at approximately 50 mph.temperatures outside was about 15 degrees.temperature inside the car was set to 70 degrees.suddenly and unexpectedly, i heard an explosion from overhead as the moonroof shattered and blew upward and out.after the initial blowout, shards of glass fell in on me inside the moving vehicle.
I understand that the car isn't under warranty anymore; however, how was i supposed to know thatmy rim would crack as i'm driving. Like i said a million times to so many people, i did not hit a curb, or a bump for the rim to crack. I have one rim issue and all the others are just fine. This is my rim story from the beginning to the end... In the week of august 15th-21st, 2010, the tire pressure warning light came on all of a sudden. I got nervous and i noticed my front-right tire was somewhat low. I went to pep boys to have air put into the tire. A few days later, the light appeared again and i went to another pep boys to have air put into the tire. The warning light disappeared after it was worked on. Then the warning light appeared again after a couple of days and i went back to pep boys to have the front-right tire checked again.the young man said to me, "miss, there is a crack inside of your front-right rim." i made an appointment to another dealer who repairs rims and repair my rim. Everything was fine after the rim was repaired. Then i received a letter from mazda corporation about recalls. I had those done and the dealer said, "i need to get my tires checked again." i left the dealer and went to firestone and they repaired the cracked rim (2nd time). On january 11, 2014, my aunt and i returned from food shopping around 3pm. I parked the car at my aunt's house to unpack the food from the trunk. My aunt, cousin and i were getting some of the food out of the car, when all three of us heard air (whoooooosh) being blown out of a tire for about 20 seconds. We all stood still and looked to see which car the air was coming from. Then my cousin look at my car said, "[xxx], do you know you have a flat?" i just could not believe this was happening again! when i saw the tire flat as a pancake and the rim touching the ground, i was shocked and upset. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
The contact owns a 2009 mazda mazda6. The contact stated that the passenger side rear tire valve stem was corroded and causing the tire to go flat. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who advised that there were no recalls on the tires or the valve stem. The failure was experienced twice. The dealer first repaired the vehicle at the dealers expense but denied assistance with repairing the vehicle a second time. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 26,000 and the current mileage was 37,000.
During normal use, valve stem broke halfway down the stem which required replacement of the valve stem and tire pressure sensor on that one wheel.
This car was bought used. After suspension inspection i found out that the front subframe is extremely rusty and immediate replacement is necessary. According to the body condition there were no any incidents which may affected the subframe condition. Further driving with this is dangerous.
Driving on i-94 west, near ann arbor, mi. Felt vibration, then left rear tire blew. Managed to pull to the shoulder and changed tire. Inspected damaged tire and noticed valve stem and sensor were missing. The next day checked the other tires for proper inflation and when i tried to remove the valve cap from the right rear tire,it blew off with the core stem and the tire went flat. Had both tires repaired, new sensors and tire. I had new tires installed on 1-11-14 and two sensors were changed at that time. So three out of the four sensors failed with one blown tire .
I bought a used car with 2 dashboard light tmps & engine the dealer give me extra warranty but never been repair furthermore i find out by myselfa recall for the outer door handles after the door open while i driving in the express way this happened tomy youngest daughter; and in other 2 incidents the car do not respond with the appropriate speed causing me a big chance of accident afterwards it is happened again so due toother several mechanic problems and for security i have to decided to return the car now i have no money no car and a big problem i am having hardly time tried to summit my concerns because i think thedealers are responsible for sale security cars before the sale but apparently the laws are in the dealers side as a consumer i hope maybe some one can see how this irresponsible dealers play with the consumers safety. I pay over $3,000 in repairs by my self and i have been around 90 days with out car and all this problems in a period of time of 26 months plus my payments to the dealer that was $460,00 a month this issue start on 12-6-13 to 02-26-16 after the car need a new repair at cost of $3,000 so in the reality this company was negligent when they fail to properly repair the car since the beginning they just pretend to fixed but wasn't. I want to thank you for your time.
For the second time in a year the air valve on one of the tire pressure sensors on our mazda corroded and snapped off as i was putting air in the tire. I'm very grateful this happened while the car was in our driveway and not while my wife or daughter was driving the car.
2 valve stems from the tpms sensors are leaking air. That provoked an instant loss of total air pressure in the tires !!!! this is extremely dangerous if it happens on the interstate at high speeds.it seems mazda has a service bulletin sb-02-001-12 but not a recall at this time (march 4 2015)from 4 tpms sensors on the 2009 mazda 6, two (2) of them failed one day after another. Both sensors failed at the valve stem.had to replace all 4 sensors due to being afraid this sudden loss of air pressure could happened at 60 miles/h on the interstate.the manufacturer of the tpms sensors is continental and they already have a different part # for the sensor (continental vdi redi-sensor se10001hp-az). Also mazda has a different part # for the new sensors: bbm2-37-140b. I was surprised how mazda didn't issue a recall by now. I've seen plenty of other people complaining about this on online forums or websites specialized in car issues.
