- vehicle is subject to takata airbag recall. Located in zone a- received multiple notices in mail since 2016.- mazda website does not acknowledge a recall exists when trying to schedule an appointment- they acknowledge it when phoned in- recall always quoted to take a day, with no alternate transport available. Despite mailer saying free alternative transport available. I've tried multiple times.- i need a vehicle - always. Right now my choice is to continue driving my car (at risk of 'serious injury or death') or lose my livelihood.

Recall #14v-344 has been out over a year and there are still no parts/remedies available. How is this possible? now they've reissued the recall under a new number (15v-382) but still no parts/remedies are available. There are millions of lives at stake. Is there a time limit? the manufacturer should be forced to buy back cars with defects or pay for us to lease another car until they can fix it. What remedies do we have other than to sit and wait and put our lives at risk?

Our 2006 mazda 6 gt was totaled in a wreck in which it flipped 4 or more times on the highway and then into the median. The speed at the time accident occurred was 70 mph. Not one of the 6 equipped air bags was deployed. I contacted mazda customer service and was told that apparently none of the sensors were tripped and this is not uncommon. I find it hard to believe that not one of 6 would trip in an accident that violent. My insurance also didn't seem to think it was an issue. This is problem because most of us believe that our air bags will protect us in most any wreck, especially one in which you are flipping on pavement. Thank god there were no major injuries, no thanks to air bags.

I have received several recall letters regarding the defective driver and passenger airbags. It's been 2 years since i received letter from mazda regarding one airbag. Within those two years, my mazda dealer still states they are unable to source parts for the recall, two years after first notice. Received letter from mazda regarding passenger airbag recall (now two recalls). Local mazda dealer still states mazda hqs has not provided them with required parts to fix both recalls. Will be writing a letter to bbb regarding mazda corporate's failed fulfillment of a potentially life threatening recall that has simply been brushed under the rug with no concern of the public's safety.

Takata recall
We were notified in july 2015 of air bag recall, told parts weren't yet available and that we would be notified when they were. As of january 2016, 7 months later, we never got a notice from them. We called and they had the parts ordered for us in about a week. Just got the call that our parts are in, but the dealership will only do the work on a weekday, not on weekend. My wife and i both work monday through friday, and both of us have fairly new jobs so taking time out during our work day for this is disruptive to our jobs, yet the dealership refuses to perform the work on a saturday when we are both readily available. Since this recall is the fault of the manufacturer, shouldn't they be accommodating to our schedules to get this work completed?

Had recall for defective airbags. Took vehicle to dealer and they replaced both drivers side and passenger side air bags. I have received second recall notice to have the passenger side replaced again as the one they originally replaced it with is defective to. If the passenger side is defective then so the drivers side is to. Want to know why drivers side isn't going to be replaced.

My husband was making a left-hand turn and didn't see any oncoming vehicle.the vehicle smashed into him making the car spin 180 degrees.the passenger's side airbag went off instantly, the driver's side airbag did not deploy until after the car had stopped spinning.
Neither side or front airbags deployed in accident.this car was rear ended at 45 mph and then pushed into a guard rail, causing damage to the front and rear of the car.
I was driving on northbound 71 near louisville, ky when a vehicle entered the freeway and cut me off. I avoided a collision with him but the vehicle behind me hit me multiple times in multiple locations, spinning me across the freeway. One was a side impact hit which forced my head into the driver's side window, breaking it. I had six airbags in my 2006 mazda 6 and none of them deployed. The rates of speed being traveled were at approximately 55 miles per hour.i was harmed but not enough to warrant a lawsuit according to lawyers, yet my equipment failed to protect me in my vehicle. My vehicle is now totaled as well.

After getting my airbag recall fixed on my 2006 mazda6 on tuesday 10- 3 today thursday 10-6 i took it to work this morning half way down the block my dash showed a car with a key in it and the horn started going off and my signal lights worked like the hazard lights when i turned them on to turn right or left, i had to pull the horn relay to get the horn to stop going off it didn't matter if the car was in motion or not all of the above still happened so i could take it to the dealership to be told that if it wasn't a mistake on their end i would have to pay for it and i have to wait until tuesday before they could get into it.
I noticed the cooling fan coming on every time i turn the car on and it doesn't turn off for several minutes after the car is turned off.the engine is running in the normal temperature range, so i don't think the fan should be running constantly.i took the car to my mechanic, who notified me of a recall by mazda for the fan control module for the same production year and the same make/model.i reached out to mazda, but they notified me my vin didn't fall in the range of the recall.it seems odd that the same product would have the same issue in the same car but not be covered by the recall.i wanted to notify the nhtsa of the issue in hopes that mazda would resolve the issue.thanks.
Car wouldn't start so we were going to have it jump started.the cables on the battery were burnt and there was evidence of battery acid on other parts of the engine.the car was under warranty and was repaired by the dealership after several phone calls.now, i just recently noticed a funny odor and the vinyl on the left front door appeared to be melting and the buttons would not work the windows.i took it to a mechanic where he showed me that the wiring harness and switch was completely burned up.fortunately this did not happen while driving and start a fire.unfortunately the vehicle is no longer covered by the warranty so i will have to pay out of pocket for the repairs.my mechanic said that he has never seen this happen before and there probably no way of detecting this ahead of time.
The contact wanted owns a 2006 mazda mazda6. The contact was driving 30 mph when the electrical components malfunctioned.the alarm sounded, the windows opened and closed, and the door locked on their own.the contact disconnected the battery and called the manufacturer. The manufacturer suggested the contact take the vehicle to the dealer for diagnostic testing.the contact did not take the vehicle to the dealer.the contact stated the vehicle was unsafe to drive because the vehicle could lock the occupants inside the vehicle in the event of an emergency. The failure mileage was 81,000.
Driving on freeway at about 65 mph, all of a sudden the abs light came on, seconds later the check engine light came on. About 30 seconds later, my mazda6 shut off and i lost power steering. I got stuck in the middle of the freeway. Smoke was coming out of the left side (if standing in front of car) under the hood and radiator fluid was pouring out the bottom. Car wouldn't start, click click click, had to have it towed home. Had a independent mechanic look at the car, he said the engine was blown. **my car gave zero indications that it was overheating, no change in the temperature gauge.** i think there is a defect somewhere in this area, as it should've told me it was overheating. I bought this car brand new in june 2006 and have babied it. This is the first and only problem i have ever had with it. I did not replace the engine.
The transmission seems to lock up and rev at a high rate, then the cars bucks and either engages at a lower gear or you have to slow to a crawl before the transmission engages. This has happened at low speed and traveling on the interstatewith traffic all around, including a semi-truck right behind my vehicle. This is a definite problem and safety hazard.
I was sitting at a red light, my driver side door started to smoke. I was able to let it air out enough to drive home. As soon as i made it home, the smoke started pouring out of the window control and the whole door panel, rushed to get my kids out of the car. As the smoke thickened a fire started, i was able to put it out with a fire extinguisher before too much damage was caused.

The parts were not available within a reasonable time frame to receive the repairs. The contact noticed that the ceiling fabric was buckling near the front of the vehicle and the failure was progressing towards the rear. The electric control panel on the driver side door was used several times and the manual function for winding the windows up and down failed to work. The contact had to make several attempts to get the window to go up and down. The contact waited for months and was unable to determine when the recall repairs would be completed. The failure mileage was not available. Vin tool confirms parts not available. Parts distribution disconnect. Parts distribution disconnect.
Mazda's blueprint for disaster:battery location, battery quality.overheated , low quality battery spewing acid on critical engine components, corroded wiring, steering, sensors transmission, other parts beyond repair. Washed with water.

I've had issues with my car whenever i put gas in it. My car won't start up or cut off whenever i put gas in it.i've also had issues with the acceleration because of this.

Tl * the contact owns a 2006 mazda 6.while driving at an unknown speed in a parking lot, the vehicle suddenly accelerated.the acceleration continued even after the hand brake was applied.the contact lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the side of a truck, tree, and transformer before finally crashing into a metal fence.the air bags failed to deploy.the police were called and the vehicle was towed.there were no injuries. The dealer was notified of the failure, but the manufacturer was not.the vehicle was not repaired. There were no injuries.the approximate failure mileage was 66,000. Updated 08/12/14*lj
At 75,000 and light driving, the car would 'clunk' hard when it slowed. The dealer took 3 hours and 500 dollars to fix an engine mount bolt.also they said the check engine light was on.two oxygen sensors are out and wanted a few hundred dollars more.sadly disappointed in this lightly mazda 6 v6 2006 car!the engine mount bolts would have been horrible if the engine fell in traffic.
When vehicle is turned off the engine cooling fan sounds like the car in still running...it revs up and back down and it keeps repeating this three or four times. I thought the hood was going to blow off but the temperature gauge inside the car does not say it is overheating. I believe this the result of a faulty cooling fan control module.this control module should really be recalled because it is probably causing other problems and it is kind of scary when your car in sitting in your garage turned off but keeps getting louder and louder.
The contact owns a 2006 mazda 6. While driving various speeds, the clutch would shift automatically into neutral and the engine revved. After a few seconds, the gear would forcefully shift into any gear without warning. The failure occurred more often while on inclines or when the vehicle was in fourth, fifth, or sixth gear. The vehicle was taken to a dealer to be diagnosed, but the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was still under warranty at the time. The failure mileage was approximately 15,000.

The contact owns a 2006 mazda 6. While driving 40 mph, the vehicle began to decelerate independently and the check engine indicator illuminated on the instrument panel. While depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle would not respond. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

Transmission roughly jerks itself into 2nd-3rd gear. When the car has come to a stop and is then accelerated, engine stalls for a few seconds, then slams itself into 2nd or 3rd gear. This poses as a rear-end threat, as the car is forcefully put into gear, causing the car to jerk forward suddenly. For me this only occurs at lower speeds (10-30 mph). I have researched this problem and many others have come across the same thing.
Dt*: the contact stated while applying brake pressure in stop and go traffic, the engine stalled without warning.afterwards, the check engine light illuminated momentarily, and the engine was easily restarted.the dealer inspected the vehicle, and performed a diagnostic test which did not produce any failure codes.the manufacturer was alerted.
I currently own a mazda 6 (2006) which i acquire o march 13, 2007.since february 15, 2007 my car started to stalls and shut off.i had taken my vehicle back to the dealer (mazda jim click) for repairs since the problem arise.when i bought the vehicle i also paid for an extended warranty platinum (pas).the extended warranty is for 72 months or 100,000 miles which ever occurred first which include any mechanical or electronic problems in the vehicle.the vehicle had been in the services department for repairs five different occasions.they had exchanges parts off the vehicle because apparently that was the issue but up to this moment the problem persists. Back in june 6, 2006 i took my vehicle back to the dealer for the same issue.the service department kept my vehicle for 39 days; my car was return to me on july 15, 2008 and apparently again the car was fixed.on august 2, 2008 the vehicle stall and shut off again; the problem persist for 3 days on a roll and that's when i decide to call jim click so they can towed the vehicle back to the dealer.since that date the dealer is still trying to locate what is causing the vehicle to stall.now the dealer decides to exchange the computer in the vehicle.when the dealer towed by vehicle back to the service department on august 4, 2008; i informed the service department manager that i will be contacting the bbb for this issue.current miles: 52300 (aprx.). At this moment i have a claim open with the bbb and mazda north american operations has contact me.
The check engine light comes on.i had the code checked and it is the cooling sensor.the vehicle is not overheating and light will go off for a short time and then come on again.
Engine power decreases substantially going uphill when you push accelerator.even after the recall item was fixed (reprogrammed computer), it still does it, especially on other then 93 octane gas which is not always available.when merging into traffic, had a few close calls with accidents.
My new 2006 mazda 6 sedan that was purchased from the dealer 30 miles away from s.f.. Right after driven home, it had the severe overheating smell inside and outside the car. Such overheating smell occurred even when moving the car to the curb. Dealer said it was new cars burning off smell. Took it to the local dealer:changed the engine cooling thermostat, the radiator cap, coolant reservoir tank and re-flashed the powertrain. Was told that residual smell will linger for a couple weeks. The overheating smell persists inside the car when the air vent is set at cold outside air. Usually smell starts in about 5 minutes after a mile of ordinary city drive at 25 mph to 35 mph on flat road. It gets stronger and sometimes hot air blows in when the day is warm (around 68f to above 70f). If car is parked for hours in an open space after several miles drive, hot air and smell blows immediately at start and stay on. On freewaythe smell is less strong but becomes very bad when exitto a stop sign. During the cooler days of 50f to 65f, the onset of the overheating smell is delay. There is no such smell in the vent air when set for ''warm'' air at night or at ''air condition'' to check if smell is from air duct. Now the car has 3000 miles on it and the smell problem still exists.a few times i have headache after driving with the smell. For this problem i have taken the car four times between both dealers and called the mazda customer service center two times. Each time they did a pressure leak test and told me the car is ok within manufacturer''s specs.they all claimed that there is no such smell in the driving conditions as i described. Nothing is done because they cannot recreate the problem.last month found oil stain under car and some radiator hoses turn white with powder. Last week the local dealer changed the leaking strut and the slightly leaking overflow tube to the coolant reservoir tank. It also said color change of radiator hose into engine is normal.
There seems to be no one significant event that has lead up to the issues i am currently experiencing. The problem has gotten progressively worse with time over the last few months. It started with a minor stutter back in late july/early august. It worsened a few days after the computer was reflashed for the recall in early september. I'm not sure if that was a catalyst to this problem or not since it was stuttering before a little bit also. By late september the problem seemed to be worsening. By mid-october it was stuttering constantly when driving in stop and go traffic. The problem worsened with cool weather when the engine is cold. On nights below about 30 degrees, the car stutters and bucks severely for the first few minutes until the engine is warmed up. Acceleration is sometimes unpredictable during this time. So far, mazda has replaced the mass air flow sensor and updated the ecu to the latest available as of november. Spark plugs were replaced prior to this per my request. Nothing seems to make an impact. It should also be noted that this problem (cold start) seems to worsen on rough/uneven roads. Gas type (93 or 94 and name brand) seems to make no noticeable impact.
Dt*:the contact stated while idling, a high pitch noise came from the engine.the noise was also present while driving at various speeds during normal road conditions. The vehicle was taken to the dealership who determined the noise came from the belt tensioner and replaced it.the noise persisted and after a short period of time, the dealership determined the water pump was the source of the noise and replaced the pump housing gasket.none of the repairs performed eliminated the noise and the manufacturer was contacted.customer service collected the information but no solution was provided.the contact expressed concern about the inability of the mechanics to produce a solution in vehicle purchased brand new with only 1323 miles.
2006 madza 6 with transmission problems customer states that the car has been sitting at the dealership for a month and the car is still in disrepair**nar**ccthe consumer stated a few months after purchasing the vehicle, the vehicle began making a grinding metal sound. The consumer parked the vehicle looked under it and noticed fluid was spilling out.the consumer took the vehicle to the dealership and after 2 weeks the dealer stated the repair work was finished, however 3 days later, the consumer began to hear the same metal sound as before only this time, the consumer had no gears and no clutch. The consumer then received a call from he dealership stating the vehicle had blown a rod and there was a problem with the engine and not the transmission. The consumer was told he would need to provide receipts of oil changes or the vehicle would not be fixed.
I leased my fully loaded 2006 mazda a6 back in december of 2005. Ever since then, i have had trouble with the car. First, the driver side window was not going down. A few days after i bought the car, i realized that the turbo kept giving out on me. Then i came across a huge dilemma, where the limited slip differential, drive shaft, and all the bolts and hinges had to be replaced because of a bolt which was not torque enough. Then, the brakes kept making an annoying noise even without the brakes applied at low and high speeds. Subsequently, the tires wear and tear was horrible at 6,000 miles, to the point where i should have replaced them, and mazda didn't doanything about it. Later i found out that the air pressure in the tire was too low. After that, the keyless entry/keyless start remote stopped working, and had to open the car manually, which got fixed after 2 attempts, and just replaced the whole thing. Now, there is a problem with the rear axle, and how it has to be replaced, because when the limited slip differential problem came across, they neglected to look or fix the axle from the start. Now they have the courage to tell me that i have to pay for the axle, and rent a car, and all the expenses, because they were negligent of looking at it from the start. They are blaming the axle issue on the tires, when they were bad to start with and the tires that were going bad were the front ones, not the rear.
Air conditioner never works properly on drivers side since new.dealer claims it's not a problem but driver vent and left middle vent always blow warm when air is on.making car unbearable to drive in heat also car does not cool off properly in summer.
The low beam headlights continue to go out.i have replaced them number of times.this is not just a problem with my car numerous mazda3 owners and mazda6 owners are having this same problem.this is especially dangerous when the lights go out at night.
The low beam headlights stopped working. The bulb is functional but there is a problem with the connection .if i bang on the headlight assembly the bulb starts working
Low beam head lights aren't bright enough to see the road clearly
The contact owns a 2006 mazda 6. The contact stated that the headlights were very dim, which made it difficult to see the road at night while driving. Ourisman mazda of rockville (located at 801 rockville pike, rockville, md 20852, 301-424-7800) replaced the headlight bulbs twice; however, the failure remained. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that they were unable to assist with the repair. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000. The vin was invalid.
The low beam headlamps on my 2006 mazda 6 have repeatedly gone out on my in the past year.many times while driving.this last time i tried to replace the low beam headlamp and the bulb was not blown.i inserted the new bulb and it still doesn't work.this is a problem for mazda 6's and 3's my parents are going on their 9 bulb in the mazda 3.according to many mazda forums this is a recurring problem for a number of other owners as well.this must be addressed driving at night is difficult enough but when your lights go out it makes it down right dangerous.
The contact owns 2006 mazda, mazda6. The contact stated that both plastic headlight lenses became oxidized. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who stated that the headlight assembly would not to be replaced or they would have to resurface the headlight lenses to correct the problem. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer had not been notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.
Car loses power on acceleration when cold. It bucks and kicks back when throttle is depressed making it impossible to accelerate into traffic. Car needs to be slowed down and shifted in 1st in order to accelerate causing possible rear end collision problems. See post here for other owners reporting same issue:http://forum.mazda6club.com/index.php?showtopic=65171&st=0
Pressed clutch in loud noise heard then grinding. Pedal stuck to floor while in traffic.car i had happily owned 2 mazda 6 2006 sedan and wagon and was considering another when the diesel comes out.that was last week. This week without warning the clutch pedal went to the floor and made a loud bang grinding noise. Car has extended warranty from mazda we had told mazda for over a year hard to get into reverse and 1-2 chatter noise but never got any resolution on this.took car in dealer said it would be a clucth which is not covered i was not happy but somewhat ok with that. It turns out that went the part failed throwout bearing it destroyed the transmission and that is not covered (mazda customer service must know about the problem as they tell you not covered and basically hang up on you.same with mepp which i paid a great deal of money for bumper to bumper extended total care which is supposed to cover manual trans but somehow does not.getting rid of both cars and may have to junk my other car which went from being worth 10k to 0. In an instant by a bearing which should be covered.don"t buy mazda they don't stand behind the product.always dealer serviced and just was serviced and passed mazda (green light thing they give you every time it's serviced making you feel like it's all good which is a lie.3000.00 to replace the clutch is insane it's not a skyline gtr.
I've had issues with my car whenever i put gas in it. My car won't start up or cut off whenever i put gas in it.i've also had issues with the acceleration because of this.
When coming off the freeway or driving through town, the engine starts to surge. The engine rpm is around2000 and will not come to an idle. Almost cannot stop the vehicle. Very hard brake pedal due to low engine vacuum, caused by the engine rpm being so high. There is not a consistent basis for this happening..the repair shop has replaced the throttle body assembly, mass air flow sensor and purge solenoid. Same results. The check engine light does not come on. No codes are stored in the computer. The gas pedal is not sticking and no floor mats interfering with the gas pedal.
The contact owns a 2006 mazda mazda6.the contact stated that the driver's side door lock failed to function. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the door lock activator needed to be replaced.the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. When accelerating, the car suddenly has no power, then shifts hard down, typically it happens shifting into 3rd or 4th gear.under about a half pedal, it basically feels like a stall, then jerks you backwards, hard as it kicks into gear and accelerates.i'm told there is a service bulletin that there are transmission failures for this car.unfortunately, we are out of warranty.
The issue has been ongoing, but originally started in the summer of 2008 (car had roughly about 42,000 or so miles on it). Initially the car would increase the rpm up to 7000r in 5th gear (going to 6th) and then decrease causing it to do a hard jerk (someone else described it as being rear ended and that's exactly what it feels like). I took my car to the mazda dealership in marlow heights, md (while it was still under warranty) and the service person and i went for a drive (i was driving) he told me that he didn't notice anything off about it so i went back home. Fast forward to 2013 (the problem persisted through the entire time) when i took the car thearlington mazda dealership. This is where they did a test drive on it and came to the conclusion that my car's transmission is going bad (the car had about 49,604 or so miles on it). To date, the vehicle (which now has 58,360 miles on it) has trouble picking up speed is extremely laggy and in 5th to 6th gear will pull a hard jerk before it catches up with itself. I agree with the other owners who have this problem. Mazda needs to recall and replace the transmission because there's clearly a safety issue. After all, if another vehicle is following too closely behind the vehicle(s) having this issue they are going to undoubtedly be involved in a serious collision and there probably will be a fatality.please note: i included the mileage the car has so that those considering purchasing this car will know they may not have long to enjoy it before they have a really dangerous and expensive problem on their hands.

Potential rear end collision:i own a 2006 mazda 6 vin [xxx]. I have experienced frequent times when i have accelerated onto the highway (or any other need to avoid a collision) and have experienced a severe loss of power/acceleration. This could have easily resulted in a rear-end collision had the cars behind me not reacted immediately. I have notified the local dealership and "mazda customer satisfaction" of this problem and was told that my vehicle is "out of warranty. I also found that mazda has issued a tsb #05-016-06 that explains the potential cause. Mazda is aware of this problem.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The vehicle was taken to a dealer to be diagnosed, but the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was still under warranty at the time. The failure mileage was approximately 15,000.

My transmission fails and revs high when i accelerate too hard or am going up a hill causing a downshift.this is most common when switching between the 5th and 6th gears.this is a very dangerous problem common in many vehicles of this model year.if i suddenly can't accelerate going 60 mph on the highway and drop down to 40mph as i wait for the rpms to go back down, there is a serious risk of being rear ended or side swiped depending on the situation.there is a service bulletin but it should be a recall.the fix would cost thousands of dollars.
The contact owns a 2006 mazda 6. While driving uphill at approximately 68 mph, the vehicle slipped out of gear without warning. The contact lost control of the vehicle and the vehicle landed in a ditch. The failure recurred several times. A police report was not filed and there were no injuries. The vehicle was taken to a dealer. The technician diagnosed that the trans-axle slippage was due to poor design. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 35,000. Ma 08/05/2015updated 10/23/2017
The contact owns a 2006 mazda 6.while driving 55 mph in sixth gear, the vehicle makes a loud noise and suddenly downshifts into third gear.the vehicle has been to the dealer several times and they replaced the valve body and flushed the system.the failure was temporarily solved for a few months.the manufacturer informed the contact to take the vehicle back to the dealer.they stated that if the dealer could not permanently correct the failure, they would replace the vehicle.the current mileage was 30,000 and failure mileage was 8,228.
Please can someone put in a recall for this my transmission is having problems again and this is my second madza 6... This doesn't make any sense we spend money of vehicles that suppose to run well... So why are there so many people having problems with these madza's and know one is doing anything about it.... I was on the highway with my kids when the car just cut off and wouldn't move and when it did it was started grinding when i put it in gear.... That was a scary thing... The same happened to me in my first madza 6 with only 89000 miles on it... Something needs to be done....

Internal transmission/differential problem caused hole in bell housing, causing transmission fluid to leak out.apparently from the message boards, this is happening a lot.and consumer reports shows a black circle for the drive train on the 2006 model year. Why no recall?
2000 mazda 626 - automatic transmission - 52k miles1) no reverse - one time incident in may, moved it forwarded and ran through the other gears and then it went into reverse... So didn't think much of it.in late september, it happened again. Frequency increased over next month.no pattern... Hot, cold, dry, wet, etc.2) i now have no reverse most of the time, though still intermittent3)took to aamco... It's not electrical, needs total overhaul for $2k6 year old car with only 52k miles, not driven hard... Shouldn't have these problems.i had a 1987 mazda 626 that had the same issue at 11 years old.
While driving 65 mph down the interstate, my 2006 mazda 6 made a loud noise like grinding gears and stalled for a second revved up and went into 3rd gear.the car went from 65 mph to almost a stop and then to 20 mph in the middle of the interstate.after that, the car downshifted several times in the next couple of days.research showed many other 2006 mazda 6 owners with similar problems.a mazda tsb was posted in december 2006, and the car was purchased in november 2006.mazda has not notified any costumers of this problem and a transmission going out at 58k is not typical.the dealer said it was the valve body solenoids.replaced those for $800 and still shifted out of gear.then paid $3800 for a new transmission that might do the same thing in a few thousand miles.if you are out of warranty, mazda does nothing for you. This is a very serious rear end collision hazard.
Engine power decreases substantially going uphill when you push accelerator.even after the recall item was fixed (reprogrammed computer), it still does it, especially on other then 93 octane gas which is not always available.when merging into traffic, had a few close calls with accidents.
The contact owned a 2006 mazda 6. While driving approximately 40 mph, another vehicle crashed into the front driver side and caused significant damage to the front end of the contact's vehicle. During the crash, the seat belts did not secure the driver. The air bag deployment was delayed and caused the driver's head to impact the steering wheel. The driver sustained severe lacerations to the upper lip, damaged teeth, and facial contusions that required medical attention. A police report was filed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The cause of the failure was not determined. The vehicle was destroyed. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
When starting and initially driving the vehicle in single digit temperatures the power assist to the brakes cuts off intermittently and without warning.when starting the vehicle in extreme cold temperatures the "tcs off" light illuminates and remains lit for approximately 30-45 seconds after the vehicle is running.when driving, the vehicle's power braking system fails to engage resulting in a stiff pedal requiring excessive stopping force.this situation goes away after brakes have been pumped or used repeatedly (presumably to warm up fluid).problem does not manifest at higher temperatures and no additional abnormalities exist in braking performance and no dashboard lights illuminate to signal a problem.potential for collision if above normal stopping distance is not observed during operation in cold conditions.due to the fact that the issue is intermittent a vehicle diagnostic would likely turn up a "could not duplicate" scenario.

I purchased a 2006 mazda 6 isport in dec 2005.since purchase i have had aggressive vibrations in the brake system every 15,000-20,000 miles. While i am a high mileage driver, most driving is on a highway and does not requires start-stop braking.in addition, i have replaced my brake pads when tech's have suggested.i havemy rotors turned out by the mazda dealers 3 times and in the current situation the rotor cannot be turned.the dealer and the mazda corporate refuse to look into my history of this issue because my car is out of warranty.after much research, i have found several dozen mazda forums that discuss this same issue with the mazda 6.i have also found that the government found issues with former mazda vehicles such as the tribute and its ford counterpart.this is obviously a problem however the dealers, mazda's local technician, and the corporate tech line will refuse to look into the matter anymore.

Brakes have failed 3 separate times in this 2006 mazda 6. First time i was driving and went through a stop sign. I have the brake pedal to the floor. Pumped the brake and brakes came back on. Second time, backing out of garage no brakes. Had pedal to floor and had to pump them before almost hitting neighbors garage, last time pulled into a parking spot and had no brakes. Hit another car which stopped me. Each time i reported this to polar chevy/mazda. Each time they had me bring in the car and they looked at it. Each time they reported nothing wrong with the car. Each time they stated that there was nothing wrong with the car and that i needed to have the back brake pads replaced. The last time the brakes failed polar chevy/mazda called a tech at mazda. I was told they have never heard of this doing this before. I have told them now 3 times and again each time the car has been brought into be looked at!
The contact owns a 2006 mazda mazda6.the contact stated that when letting go of the steering wheel, the vehicle would pull abnormally hard to the right. The contact stated that the front driver and passenger side control arms were replaced as well as an adjustement to the sub-frame. Both front strut heads were replaced and an alignment was performed but to no avail.the contact was concerned because the vehicle pulled extremely hard to the right and the contact did not want to lose control of the vehicle. There were no further repairs.the failure mileage was 58,000 and the current was 99,951.

The passenger side front vehicle frame has rusted completely through where the steering members attach.found this when checking the brakes. Appears dangerous!
Front sub-frame rusted causing lower suspension / control arm to come apart, leaving front wheel to be unstable.this happened while driving, almost causing accident do to instability in staring system.i see that this is a common problem with this model, however for some reason my vin doesn't show the recall.is this something that the company is planning to address, or am a stuck with the problem?pictures included.
Steering locked while driving the car in the city at around 35-40 mpg.it would slightly pull the right though very hard.it unlocks if the ignition is turned off and turned back again.the issue repeated 10 days after the first incident followed by a loud thud which appeared to coming from the car as the road was clean.steering was unlocked once restarted.
I was driving a hertz rented mazda 6 2006 with approximately 1,100 miles on it. Was driving at approximately 65 miles per hour when i lost control of the car. The car swerved to the right and hit a truck and swerved back to the left and hit a median. On subsequent inspection, it was found that the steering linkages were faulty and had failed. The police have recorded the incident as mechanical failure. The car was completely damaged due to impact, the side air bag had released and the front left wheel had completely come off (the last mentioned being the cause of the above accident). The rental company was supposed to be investigating the accident, so far i have not got any information back.

On 6/18/2018, the passenger side steering control arm broke off the sub-frame of my 2006 mazda 6 while i was driving it. Fortunately, i was driving on a side street close to home when this happened and not on a highway. I did not know at the time that it was the subframe. All i knew was that there was no control of the car as it was being driven. The control arm broke off the sub-frame because the subframe was rusted/corroded. On 7/5/2018, the dealership confirmed the subframe failed because it was rusted/corroded. And the dealership quoted me an estimate of $1,973 to repair the car using a used subframe.on 7/9/2018, i received a call from angela (refused to provide last name) a mazda usa customer service representative.

A potentially harmful characteristic of the power window function. I noticed that if momentary contact of the window close switches were made (of a long enough duration) the windows would close automatically. If the operator were to discover that the wrong window was being closed .....simply letting up on the switch would not stop the power window function. The window would continue to raise, even if someone's arm or extremity was in the window. If a person were to make such an error of selecting the wrong window with normal power windows.....simply letting up on the switches stops the operation. This was not the case with the 2006 mazda 6 that i leased. I did not test the force that the window was capable of exerting before stopping on its own. Iimagine on a small child thatit would not take much force to be harmful orfatal.
