I was driving home after dropping my three children off at school. The road that i live on is woodlake pkwy and the speed limit is fourty-five mph. A lady in a car pulled out in front of me from a subdivision on my right, she was headed in my opposite direction. I hit her as i attempted to swerve and miss her only projecting me further and faster to my left where there were two sets of trees and bushes. After the initial collision i then fought my way through trees realizing i had no brakes i slammed down the brakes and landed on some tree stubs 150 ft away from the crash site. My airbags never deployed.
Airbag light flashes on dashboard when the car is turned on and while driving.
The airbag sensor in my vehicle when off one day.i have not been an any accidents that would have triggered the airbag. I has continued to go off and on and it doesn't mater if i am parked or in motion.i have taken to dealership and other mechanics (for second opinion) and they both stated that the airbag system is defective and will not work properly in an accident. I have checked for recalls and have found non. But i have found many other mazda5 2010 owners who are having the same exact problem with their air bags. I would like for someone to investigate this and add it to a recall, before someone in my family is killed or injured in an accident.
Takata recall my fuel tank was contaminat with water and black gook i payed $900.00to have it fixed will the problem is still therethenmy airbag light keeps blinking on and off and my suspencion is off as well then i payed $923.40 fora rental all this was payed out of pocket
I have had my airbag light on my dashboard turn on. This is the third time it does that. I'm scared it's going to explode on me when i'm driving. Please let me know if there's a recall for the car i have. Driving with a scare feeling is not good.
Maybe takata recall - our mazda 5 was parked in the driveway overnight on march 12. We went to drive the car and found the entire interior of the car was covered in a fine powder. The glove box was open. We concluded that the inflator from the front passenger airbag position had gone off on its own. The airbag itself did not deploy. We then drove the vehicle to the mazda dealership for service, (about 1 mile).
I bought the car last december 2015, and it is already blinking. I'm not really exactly sure when it was actually started this problem and i believed it's in the drivers side"air bag" .

The vehicle was taken to the dealer who advised that they could not duplicate the failure. There were no repairs. The vehicle was taken twice to the dealer but the dealer was never able to duplicate the failure.the contact sent a letter to the manufacturer and was awaiting a response. The failure mileage was 20,800.updated 02/0812 the consumer stated during the past several months, the front passenger air bad deactivation indicator light would illuminate and then it would become dark on an intermittent basis. Updated 03/2612
The air bag light will not go off after driving for a while and blinks fast in motion, first time this happened i was making a turn oncity street.
Airbag lit and blinking on the dash board panel.i took it to mazda dealership to have it check but i was told to pay $150.00 just to diagnostic test plus labor & parts when repair is will be done by them.is this part of safety recall ? for airbags .
Flashing airbag light while driving. But it disappears by itself . Dealer and mazdacustomer service say they cannot check it unless it is flashing when it is at dealership. It happened several timestwo months backand also happened recently. Unfortunately whenever we take it to dealership the flashing light disappeared.
2010 mazda 5 passenger airbag light stays on indicating the air bag will not deploy in the event of an accident.passenger's weight is 99 lbs.manual has 66 lbs as minimum weight to activate airbag.mazda usa and the dealer have been contacted and attempts have been made to recalibrate the seat without success.another mazda 5 and 2 mazda 3's on the lot revealed the same alleged defect.
On my 2010 mazda 5 sport, the instrument panel lights up automatically when it is dark or dim outside.on previous years of this vehicle, and on all other vehicles i have ever driven, the instrument panel lights up only when the headlights are switched on.this is what prevents people from driving with their headlights off.the service department and mazda customer assistance both confirmed that the controls are working the way the car was designed.the result of this design change is that both myself and my wife have driven the car in the dark with the headlights off.i have told mazda customer assistance that this design flaw will certainly result in accidents from people driving with the headlights off, but they said there is nothing they can do.i hope they will not wait for someone to have a serious accident before they take notice.

Engine shut off while driving on highway. This is about my 5th experience.
The contact owns a 2010 mazda 5. While driving approximately 15 mph, the engine made a loud abnormal noise. The failure occurred twice. The dealer was unable to locate the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 56,000.
I was driving and brake slowly and the engine just shut off on me. I was able to start the car again. There is not a warning at all but just stop anytime that it want too.
My check engine light when on and i went to the dealer and they said my evaporative emission system leak detection pump (part# aj51-18-581a) needed to be replaced.this happened again and again; i replaced it a total of 3 times in less than 5 years. First time was in 11/21/2011, then again on 7/31/2013 and again on 1/2/2015. There is an obvious defective in craftmenship if i had to change the part 3 times in less than 5 years. Please help me.
2010 mazda 5. Consumer states that she believes the vehicle her vehicle is a lemon *tgwthe consumer stated since she purchased the vehicle, she had to return it to the dealer twice for the same safety issue; a defective fuel pump.the vehicle has been out of service for 21 days.on june 14, 2010 while driving on the highway, the vehicle suddenly shut down. The consumer picked the vehicle up on april 17, 2010.on july 30, 2010 while traveling on the highway, the vehicle again suddenly shut down.the fuel is currently on backorder.
Since i purchased the vehicle in april 2010, i have had to return it to the dealership 2 times (june 15-june 19, 2010and august 2 - august 20, 2010) for the same safety issue: a defective fuel pump. These 2 occurrences have now accumulated to 24 days in total that vehicle has been out of service in the 5 month period of ownership.date of 2nd occurrence! friday. July 30, 2010 date of 1st occurrence; monday. June 14, 2010length of repair: tuesday, june 15 - saturday, june 19, 2010:5 dayson monday, june 14, 2010 around 7pm, the vehicle suddenly shut down while driving on highway route 287, during my evening commute from my work location to my home.length of repair; monday. August 2, 2010 - august 20, 2010 - 19 dayson friday, july 30, 2010, while traveling on highway route 80, the vehicle again suddenly shut down while driving on the highway. During this incident, not only was i about 80 miles away from home, but i was traveling with 5 children in the vehicle! at this point, i became very concerned for the safety of my children in the car! the possibility that an accident could occur if my car lost power and another vehicle impacted the rear of the vehicle; or if i wasn't able to properly steer the vehicle was extremely high on such a busy highway! again, on tuesday, september 14, 2010, the car shut off on nj rt 78 (65 mph zone).it then continued to turn on & off during stop & go traffic. It even shut off in the credit union drive up banking window!!!since these defects substantially impair the use, value or safety of my vehicle, or the defect is one that is likely to cause death or serious bodily injury if the vehicle is driven.

All car locks and doors were inaccessible due to condensation and freezing. Spouse and child were unable to enter car in freezing temperatures.
Around 26000 miles, i noticed my 2010 mazda 5 started showing difficulty shifting.there are 2 noticeable times when it occurs, 1)when travelling between 30-40mph and you remove your foot from the accelerator for 5 seconds or so and then depress the accelerator to increase speed, the car fails to respond until you almost push the pedal to the floor, and 2) when accelerating out of a turn or when traffic light turns green as you approach slowly, the car fails to respond when you depress the gas pedal to accelerate.i reported issue to dealer and the standard answer "unable to duplicate" was given and it was stated by the dealer that a transmission flush is recommended at 25k-30k miles for the mazda 5.i checked the maintenance schedule for a 2010 mazda 5 and there is no indication of any inspection or replacement of transmission fluid for the first 60k miles of the vehicle.i also researched the issue at www.mazdas247.com and found this is a known issue and that a transmission flush does appear to fix the problem.most dealers charge $125-150 for a tranny flush and this is not covered by warranty (3yrs, 36k miles standard for this model).a car that fails to accelerate when you need it to as well as having to a significant service maintenance not recommended by the manufacturer appears to be an issue.hopefully you have received other reports about this issue.
At a full stop with my right foot on the brake, the car jumped (as if being hit from behind) and the engine began revving as if i had my foot pressing down as hard as possible on the accelerator.i had to put the car into neutral and turn the car off to get it to stop.this has happened several times since february at random intervals ranging from 4 months to 1 week apart between incidents and in all different types of weather.mazda's computer is telling them that pressure is being applied to both the brake and the accelerator at the same time, and therefore they say they cannot come up with any other cause than that i am putting my foot on the accelerator at the same time as the brake.this is not the case.i video-taped the last occurrence.the car got up to 7000 rpm and the sudden force of the car jumping into gear actually caused the car to slide even though i had been at a full stop (this instance was in icy conditions).i video-taped the fact that my foot was not on the accelerator, but because my phone does not have a light on it, this was too dark to discern with the dark interior of my car.my husband has also been in the car when this has happened and has seen that my foot is not on the accelerator.the local mazda dealer also rode with me to ascertain that i am not a two-footed driver.mazda is throwing their hands up in the air because their computer will not produce a code to identify the problem, will not offer a rental car, will not offer to replace the car, and will not keep the car long enough to reproduce the problem (which they say is the only way they can identify it and fix it).i even asked them to keep the car the last time it happened until they could reproduce it, and instead they installed a black box device which basically ended up telling them nothing except that force was being applied to the accelerator.
In the cold weather the driver's seat belt does not buckle.it fails to "click" into place.often requires several attempts.on 2 occasions the buckle was held in place as-if it was secured only to snap out of place after 5-10 minutes of driving.
The contact owns a 2010 mazda 5. The contact stated that all of the seat belts in the vehicle malfunctioned. The belt buckles failed to properly unlatch. The belt had to be violently pulled in order to eject from the buckle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 47,000.

When the vehicle is at a stop at a street light the brake pedal will drop to the floorboard.has happen intermittently 3 times.took new car to dealer and they could not duplicate issue and was told by service rep that this issue will happen if your are standing for long periods of time with the brake on or too much pressure on brake pedal.
Power steering will randomly fail while making turns.during the turn, all warning lights will illuminate, power steering will fail.power steering failure light will remain illuminated.vehicle is extremely difficult to control.we have avoid at least three collisions by mere inches.after a few seconds, power steering will return, lights will extinguish.dealer has not been able to find a fault code and has not been able to duplicate the problem.vehicle is too dangerous to drive.this has happened multiple times in the past several years.it has happened at speeds from 15 mph to 55 mph.
Front sway bar bushings were replaced no less than 3 times by the dealer under warranty. The symptom is a clunking or thumping noise on rough or washboarded roads.the sway bar is .908 inches in diameter and the wall thickness of the bushings is approximately .25 inches.they are rubber from mazda and apparently, changing them every 20k mi or so are not adequate for the application.seems that there is a known issue by mazda for this but one of the busining that was just removed 2/3/18 was torn nearly in half across between the sway bar and the cross member.if these were ignored and the bushings completely fell out of the brackets ther would be enough movement of the sway bar to cause interference in steering the vehicle due to the fully articulated design of the sway bar endlinks. This has the potential to be a deadly issue.
July 29, 2019 vehicle in motion on expressway. Sudden loss off power steering which left me without the ability to turn steering wheel. After approximately 90 secs power steering returned to normal. Exited expressway and checked power steering fluid levels. Fluid levels were correct according to manufacturer recommendation. Continued to operate vehicle but stayed on city streets. Experienced intermittent loss of power steering while navigating through a walmart parking lot. August 27, 2019 started vehicle at my residence. Vehicle is always parked in our garage. Power steering not engaging. Drove to tuffy dealer for inspection. Technician states power steering pump has failed.
The contact owns a 2010 mazda mazda5. While driving approximately 50 mph, the contact noticed the vehicle was pulling toward the right. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where they checked the alignment and it was repaired. The contact was informed that all of the 2010 mazda mazda5 vehicles pull toward the right. The failure continued. The failure mileage was 125 and the current mileage was 500.

Rear sliding doors of mazda 5 are freezing shut when pulling on handle door opens slightly and frrezes. Door then cannot be opened or closed and then have to drive car with a partly opened rear door. This is happening on both rear doors. The vehicle was parked during the day in a carpark. This has now happened on 6 separate occasions and is very unsafe. Door latch is freezing and will not open or close rear sliding doors. Door will start to operate normally once car is driven into a heated garage and returns to above freezing temperatures.
The contact owns a 2010 mazda mazda 5. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 mph, there was an excessive vibration coming from the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer and two different mechanics for diagnosis. The technicians stated that the failure was related to a defective frame. In addition, the defect caused both rear tires to prematurely wear. The rear tires had been replaced twice with new tires. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 32,000.
When the temperature is below freezing, the door does not latch.i began to drive the vehicle and the door slid open with my child in the seat closest to the door.there is a recall for this very issue on the 2006 mazda 5
When traveling up a slight incline in heavy traffic at slow speed, the driver side rear sliding door opened fully with no operator interaction without any warning.there was no illumination of the dash door open warning prior to the incident.
The passenger side rear slide door would not stay close. Happened twice now.
Mazda 5 started making rattling noises whenever i drive over a rough road.i googled the problem and found out it's very common in many cars built after 2005 and the solution is to replace the sway bar bushing. This will happen to every mazda 5 and similar i.e mazda 3. Mazda know there is a issue and no recall. The bad bushing affects the steering to feel less precise than itusually does, since the sway bar moves around terribly. As the vehicle corners, the car feel less steady, with poor handling.there is a tsb out for this problem bulletin no: 02-002/11
Rear tires (toyo, size 205-50r17) became noticeably noisy, at speeds ofapproximately 25 mph & above) due to cupping (low spots and high spots) wear on inside edge of tires. I took vehicle to mazda dealer where i was informed that this is caused by the high camber angle of the rear suspension (i.e., the top of each rear tire leans inward).the camber is non-adjustable.
Takata recall my fuel tank was contaminat with water and black gook i payed $900.00to have it fixed will the problem is still therethenmy airbag light keeps blinking on and off and my suspencion is off as well then i payed $923.40 fora rental all this was payed out of pocket
Tires make noise at 25+mph. Also tried to rotate them, but the inside thread worn unevenly (also mentioned here by others). The tire shop said that shocks need to be replaced, called mazda, but they don't cover shocks/struts under power train protection. Also a major clunk at front suspension, mechanics can't figure out.

Mazda 5 premature tire wear on rear toyo tires. Tires are cupping.this problem has existed on mazda5's since at least 2006 due to camber settings.this problem has been reported to the ntsb and on multiple web sites and to mazda.

Riding over bump or rough road illuminates tsc (traction stability control) light on dash.the light should go off on it's own, but does not until car is turned off.after re-starting car, light is no longer illuminated.dealer says light must be illuminated when car is brought in.all mazda on-line forums acknowledge this is a known problem.
Vehicle has a several rust problem for last 3-4 years. It develops mostly on the body panel surrounding the rear wheel on the passenger side. I have come across several other mazda 5 with similar issue. A mechanic also confirmed noticing this issue with mazda 5s. The mazda 5 models after 2010 does not seem to be impacted by this problem though. Additionally my other car, suzuki aerio which is much 6 years older (2004 model) that was subjected to similar handling and parking conditions does not have an iota of rust on the body
Following a sudden brake of the car going between 40-50 mpr on an incline the engine shutdown. I then put the transmission on park and turned off the ignition, waited a minute and then restarted the car. I was able to continue driving thereafter without any problems. This is the first time i encounter this problem with the car.
Corroded tire pressure sensor caused sudden loss of air and tire "exploded" while driving on freeway at highway speed.no potholes, obstructions or other impediments to cause loss of tire pressure.result was a very dangerous situation requiring driver to cross three lanes of traffic to reach shoulder.tire was "shredded" nearly around entire circumference, and rubber crumbled.dealership tech said probable cause was corrosion of tire pressure sensor. Tire pressure sensor was original equipment on vehicle.
