The air bag light would start flashing and then disappear, but only to begin flashing again when the vehicle was in gear.there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the vehicle but the flashing of the air bag light is distracting and is becoming a nuisance.

While driving, steering suddenly with out warning became extremely difficult and hazardous to drive. Did notfeel safe driving and then power steering light came on.this was driving on the street, while turning and driving ...i assume this is the power steering and also seemed to be electric because of lights deeming on radio...unknown.
We purchased our 2007, mazda 5 new in jan. 2007 from a local dealership. At a little over 9,000 miles the car began to hesitate and we returned to the dealership for the first service to "fix" the problem. To fast forward, here we aredec. 31st, 2011 and now we are dealing with not only hesitation and stalling, but now the car actually "bucks" while driving it only adding to the dangers of driving it. This is a well documented problem as we have continued to return it the same dealership each time only to be told it was "fixed".this has become a safety concern, and afinancial woe. Why the lack of concern by mazda and other agencies that know of this problem but have not made mazda admit the problem and recall these cars before someone is killed. Not everyone is in the position to just buy another car if they seem to have a "lemon".i would really like to know my recourse in all of this....to drive a unsafe car?, to hope i or a family member won't be hurt of killed in it until such time i can trade it in? and then feel guilty that some other person is purchasing my unsafe car? i hope that there is "some hope" by contacting your agency. If nothing else if you won't help me, maybe i can warn someone else about this car.
2007 mazda mx-5 customer states that the car was parked 10 feet from the house and suddenly the car accelerated and crashed into the house**nar**ccaccording to the report, the source of the problem may have been electrical.

Check engine light came on the night before. The next morning my wife went to run an errand before going to check the car out at the dealership, but she only got about 13 miles when the engine blew out and started smoking. The vehicle had approx 56k miles and the engine should have been covered under warranty, but the dealership states that it was not covered anymore because we ran the vehicle that morning with the check engine light on. The dealership stated that the engine was completely blown and that it overheated. They state that there was no coolant in it. There was no prior leak in the coolant, and the coolant was checked and refilled only 2 weeks prior. We would have noticed a coolant leak on our driveway.
Car stops running with no fault appearing. Happened at about 17000 miles. Computer (pcm) replaced. Happened again at 70000 miles. Pcm replaced.did not correct problem. Dealer has had car over 5 weeks. Can not determine fault.car is dangerous to drive. Each event happens repeatedly on highway. Very dangerous. Could easily result in fatal accident

I purchased a 2007 mazda 5. This is a decent car but at colder temperatures the vehicle will stall and shutter about 1-3 minutes after start up. The colder it gets and the more miles that the car gets on it the more often this occurs. The dealership told me that this is a common issue and that mazda has told them to flashagain the computer. That was done and did not fix the issue. It is very dangerous if i pull out in traffic and this vehicle fails i am hauling myself and my husband and 4 kids that is going to be something that is mazda's fault for not remedying the situation. This now occurs after driving and coming to a slow or a stop. Also when the temperatures are from 35-40 degrees the front right wheel makes an awful noise sometimes squeaking and then sometimes a grinding noise. The dealership informed me that it is "heavy, and excessive grease in the ball joint". Now that the temperature is warmer you cannot hear this anymore. The vehicle has 13,000 miles and while driving on the interstate at 60-65 mph and you put on the brakes the steering wheel shakes and acts as if the brakes are warped. When the temperature is hot outside the a/c works poorly with a temp out of the vents at 47 degrees. When stopping at a drive through resturant or at the bank the smell of burning antifreeze is very noticable. There is no visable leaks but the smell of antifreeze is evident. This is a poor designed, overpriced, not advertised vehicle that mazda should work out the bugs in, or give the money back to the customers. This car has been in the shop 7 times since new for these issues that mazda said they dont know how to fix yet. I have given them time and the opportunity now my lemon law will be running out and i dont want stuck with a lemon.

Just purchased the car today 7/3/2013. Low beams worked at the dealership. Got it home and drove tonight and both low beams are out. I looked on the internet and found numerous complaints in mazda forums about this issue. Could not find anything about this problem on this website.
While driving my mazda 5, while at a stop the car idles regular for about a min then it begins to loose power and boggle down until the engine shuts down completely. The power steering indicator comes on. For this not to happen i need to keep my foot on the gas peddle. According to the dealer my vin number does not qualify for the recall that was issued on the power steering issue. I believe that my 2007 mazda 5 also has the same problem, stated on the recall for the power steering issue. The dealer refuses to consider my case under the recall.
Just happen after 11 months of ownership of a brand new car now it happens once every week and work again, the driver door doesn't work the remote lock & unlock on the key fob and on the door button, the only way to lock and unlock is to do it manually using the key.
2007 mazda 5 both sliding doors would not latch when closed.*njthe consumer stated after removing the battery cable for one minute with the hopes of resetting the electrical system controlling the locks latching mechanism, he was finally able to get the left drivers side sliding door to latch.the right side had to be held in place by the passenger in the rear seat. The consumer stated once he reached his destination, both doors started to function properly.
2007 mazda5 with automatic transmission stalls ocassionally when accelerating from a stop at traffic lights.happens most often when starting on an uphill grade. Dealership was unable to observe the problem and therefore unable to fix it. In addition, the engine intermittenly loses power for about 1 second while driving at approximately 20 mph.this happens about 4-5 time per week, never more than once on the same day.it usually happens within the first 1/2 mile of driving the car.the dealership was also unable to observe this problem or fix it.i expressed my concern to the dealership and to mazda customer assistance that stalling while pulling into traffic could be a life threatening occurrence, but they insisted that nothing could be done until the problem worsens to the point where a mechanic can observe it.the fact that many others have mentioned the same problem on online user forums did not seem to make a difference.i do not feel safe driving this otherwise wonderful vehicle.
The contact owns a 2007 mazda mazda5.the contact stated that while driving, the check engine light illuminated and the vehicle would not accelerate beyond 15 mph.the contact had to shut off the vehicle for a few moments in order for the vehicle to begin to perform normally.the dealer attempted to diagnose the failure but was unable to determine the cause.the manufacturer was not contacted and the vehicle was not repaired.the failure mileage was 80,000 and the current mileage was 98,000.

Purchased a used 07 mazda 5 with 37k from a honda dealership.was told by the dealership that the vehicle was privately owned.about 100 miles after purchase the oil filter housing, just started spewing oil.another 500 miles later, a crunching noise began to appear in the rear end and the car was consistently steering to the right.took it to a mazda dealership for repair and had the rear shocks replaced stated they issue was they were leaking.the also mentioned that the vehicle was a rental vehicle owned by enterprise, but this was not disclosed at the time of purchase.at the same time transmission fluid was flushed.received vehicle after repairs, drove another 200 miles, transmission started slipping when shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear.the rear end also started making the same noise.issues were immediately reported to the mazda dealership, after not having the vehicle for 3 days, no issues were found.took the vehicle back this morning, with a new problem of the check engine light being on and the rear end always making this noise.the main technician for the dealership currently has the vehicle and i am sure that i will hear that the shocks were leaking again.

There is an apparent design flaw with the third row safety belt. The anchor for the shoulder is too far forward to secure the belt against the rear passenger which would lead to injury in the event of a collision. We hope this could be remedied in future models or possibly correct for current models on the road. We feel insecure about letting our children in their buster seats ride in the third-row or even adults when we have a full car. We would hope that nhtsa can determine risk of potential issues not just ones that have already caused injury. Thanks
We were parked at the local shopping center when my 8 yr. Old son went to unbuckle his seat belt and the entire thing fell apart.
The contact owns a 2007 mazda 5. While driving approximately 62 mph with the cruise control activated, the brake pedal failed to operate. The contact applied the emergency brake, pulled the clutch, and the cruise control was deactivated in order for the vehicle to brake. The failure recurred twice. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the failure was undetermined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 116,000.
I have been informed that the rotors on my 2007 mazda 5 need to be turned because they overheat and cause warping. It is not reasonable that rotors must be turned at about 17000 miles, i have seen on the web the numerous complaints about similar situation. They state that the rotors are a normal wear item and thus not covered. I have had many vehicles throughout my life and this quality and life of these rotors are unacceptable, vehicles average well over 30,000 miles before any type of maintenance must be performed.
The contact owns a 2007 mazda5.while driving between 35-40 mph, the brakes failed.the contact maneuvered the vehicle to the right and left in order to slow down.the vehicle stopped and the contact exited.she noticed smoke and flames underneath the vehicle.the fire department extinguished the flames.after the investigation, the fire department could not determine the cause of the failure.the current and failure mileages were 44,000.
The contact owns a 2007 mazda 5. While driving 30 mph, the steering wheel became inoperable and the steering wheel indicator illuminated. The contact pulled over and restarted the vehicle, but the failure seized. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the power steering pump failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 10v374000 (steering). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 104,000.
The contact owns a 2007 mazda 5. While driving approximately 5 mph, the steering wheel seized and the power steering warning indicator illuminated for three seconds. The power steering warning indicator turned off and the steering resumed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 10v374000 (steering). The failure mileage was approximately 110,000.updated 03/10/16*ljupdated 05/11/18
Mazda will not include my vehicle in this recall below because it was mfr 07/2006 and sold as a 2007:2010-08-13(published by nhtsa on 2010-08-13) recall summary: mazda is recalling certain model year 2007-2009 mazda3 and mazda5 vehicles manufactured from april 2, 2007 through november 30, 2008. These vehicles may have a condition in which a sudden loss of power steering assist could occur at any time while driving the vehicle.hazard: power steering assist is suddenly lost reducing the driver's ability to steer the vehicle as typically expected, and increasing the risk of a crash.remedy:mazda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the power steering pump and lines free of charge. The safety recall began on september 15, 2010. Owners may contact mazda customer assistance center at 1-800-222-5500.additional info: owners may also contact the national highway traffic safety administration's vehicle safety hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (tty 1-800-424-9153), or go to http://www.safercar.gov . Nhtsa source: http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/recalls/recallresults.cfm?start=1&searchtype=quicksearch&rcl_id=10v374000mazda is recalling 2007 through 2009 model-year mazda3 and mazda5 models for an issue with the power-steering system. The recall follows an investigation from the national highway traffic safety administration (nhtsa), looking into power-steering system failures in the 2007-2009 mazda3. Altogether, 33 complaints were received and three crashes were attributed to the issue.the recall affects about 300,000 north american vehicles altogether, including some 2007 models, all 2008 models, and most 2009 models of the mazda3 and mazda5. A mazda source told the publication that rust contamination in the vehicles' hydraulic steering system can cause the pump to overheat and shut down, sometimes temporarily. A service bulletin has already been out for more than a year.
My vehicle was stopped at an intersection as i was waiting for an opportunity to make a left turn. As i was then making a left turn, i realized that i had lost power steering and i thought that the vehicle would completely lose all of its power and hence, its ability to move and cause me to come to a halt in the middle of the intersection. There was an oncoming car, so i just struggled to turn the wheel while i pushed down the accelerator. Thankfully, i made it out of the intersection on time. However, this situation could have had a completely different outcome. After it happened a number of times, i decided to do some research and found that there was a recall on some of the 2007 to 2009 mazda 5 models due to power steering loss. I took my car to my local mazda dealer, but was told that my vin number was not included in the recall. I then called mazda to have my vin included in the recall, but was denied because i was told that my car was manufactured in 11/09/06, and thus cannot be included. I feel that my vehicle should be included in the recall and so i ask that you do investigation on similar situations, as this is a very serious issue that should be addressed as soon as possible. Thank you.
Sudden power steering loss while driving on an entry ramp of a highway, accompanied by illumination of multiple lights on the dashboard. Steering loss occurred while vehicle steering wheel was turned and vehicle was in motion and preparing to merge onto highway. Steering wheel suddenly and violently jerked from my hands, causing the vehicle to steer in the direction off the road. Dash lights (including power steering) flashed intermittently, however would remain constantly on when steering was pulled from center position. Power steering loss was spontaneous, intermittent, and without warning.vehicle did not record any diagnostic fault codes while lights were displayed. Symptoms vehicle displayed coincide with "recall summary" found documented on nhtsa recall 10v374000 for the 2007 mazda5. Incident occurred briefly at low speeds while parking on 08/23/2019 and resolved after vehicle was turned off and restarted. Incident reoccurred while merging onto highway at high rate of speed as described above on 08/25/2019.while incident occurs and lights illuminated on dashboard, the steering wheel motion is very restricted and the wheel automatically forces itself back to the center (neutral) position. The lights on the dashboard will remain constantly illuminated with any movement of the steering wheel away from the center/neutral position. The radio also has hello displayed, as if the vehicle was just started, even though the vehicle is in motion and was never turned off.
Stopped in traffic at traffic signal.attempted to change lanes and make turn when the power steering stopped working while wheels were turned in the direction of the turn. I was able to manually turn the steering wheel and make the turn. Dashboard indicator light was on indicating a problem with power steering.drove to safe area and checked under hood.fluid level was ok.belt was turning.power steering still not working.turned vehicle off and restarted.power steering was operational and dash light was off.went to dealer who queried the system but did not find and 'codes' for the problem.this could have been a problem if my wife or children were driving and did not have the strength to correct the problem and straighten out the wheels at very low speed.
Power steering leak
2007 mazda5 excessive tire wear and alignment/steering issues @ 27k miles.have had approx. 10 alignments including a subframe alignment with no success.have been forced to replace all tires twice due to tire wire on inner edges.car steers to the right requiring steering wheel to held 2 degrees to the left while operating at all speeds.if steering wheel is released car will drift and then steer itself to the right.the tire wear results in cords showing on inner edge of tires before outer edge have any noticeable wear.extremely unsafe vehicle due to possible tire failure 48,000 mile earlier than normal repair time.
The contact owns a 2007 mazda 5. When the contact attempted to park the vehicle, the steering wheel seized. The failure recurred twice. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but the cause of the failure could not be determined. The failure recurred. In addition, while exiting the ramp, the vehicle accelerated and the power steering warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 107,000.
Have 2007 mazda 5 and power steering is just quitting at times. No warning, this steering light on the dsh comes on and the power steering seems to completely stop. Mostly happened while vehicle was stationary but did once while turning onto a road driving 45 mph with kids in the car. Very dangerous! can not let wife drive a car that power steering just quits out of the blue! i have seen there is a recall on this but mazda sites all say there is no recall for this vin?? maybe they already did the recall and it is having issue again?
An issue occurs with the power steering assist, the power steering malfunction warning light will illuminate, and the car will require more physical effort to steer.this happens in very unsafe conditions while driving.i then turn the car off and i am able to steer again for about 2-3 min before this happens again.i called mazda and they are saying my vin is not part of the recall #60108 when clearly this is the same problem that the mazdas were having with 2007/08 models.i've called mazda and they will not honor this recall.

I called mazda's 1 800-222-5500twice about the power steering issue on my car even after providing the info from the nhtsa site:report receipt date: aug 12, 2010 nhtsa campaign number: 10v374000 component(s): steering but they insisted that based on the car's vin,no recall is effective (???) i'm concerned and can't drive my car after an incident when the steering wheel suddenly stiffened. More so since roads are icy this time of year. If the manufacturer is liable, i would rather have them shoulder the expense for the fix. Would appreciate a fast reaction into this issue.
The contact owns a 2007 mazda 5. The contact stated that while driving 25 mph, the vehicle began to pull to the right and was difficult to control. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the wheel was aligned; the failure continued. The vehicle had been aligned ten time and the subframe was also aligned; the failure continued. The problem was causing wear on the tires every 12,000 miles. The contact called the manufacturer who advised him to take the vehicle to the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 100. Updated 02/10/11the dealer informed the consumer that the tire wear was causing the vehicle to drift. The tires were replaced, but the vehcile continued to pull hard to the right. Updated 02/22/11
While driving, steering suddenly with out warning became extremely difficult and hazardous to drive. Did notfeel safe driving and then power steering light came on.this was driving on the street, while turning and driving ...i assume this is the power steering and also seemed to be electric because of lights deeming on radio...unknown.
The contact owns a 2007 mazda, mazda5. The contact started the ignition and detected that the power steering would not function. There was no prior warning. The contact proceeded to drive with difficulty turning the steering wheel. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the vehicle was repaired at the owner's expense. The identical defect was mentioned in therecall associated with the nhtsa campaign id number 10v374000 (steering:electric power assist system). The vin was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was 64,000.

Side sliding doors will open while driving, creating a safety hazard to passengers.
Referring to a december 18, 2006 recall nhtsa campaign id number:06v463000. Regarding a problem with the sliding door coming open when driving during cold weather. My vehicle has this problem which is gradually becoming worse as time goes by. Mazda says my vin # was not included so they will not fix it under the recall. If that is the case and they were aware of the problem when my vehiclewas manufactured, am i not correct in assuming that this modification should have be rectified before the vehicle was sold. I think mazda should be liable to include my vehicle in as part of this recall. I live in utah.
There is major leaking from multiple unknown sources, one place the water hides is in the spare tire wheel well and it was not evident at first as to why the car was molding on the inside. It has terrible microbial growth that is evident and i can only imagine what i cant see. The car to my knowledge has never been in any accident to cause this. Had the heater core replaced because i was told that could be a reason why there is water in floor , it was replaced and i was informed that there was nothing wrong with the original one.. That was a year ago, and it has only gotten worse . When it rains the car is soaked even when the water that is in the wheel well is sucked up... I have seen other similar complaints online, i just don't know what to do . I have children one that has autism and asthma and this is my only source of transportation .... Insurance claim was filed and they covered a carpet clean... The source(s) is not fixed or known!! the sunroof lines have been ruled out as well they are clean...
On multiple occasions now when water gets into the door (car wash, melted snow, etc.) and then temperature drops, ice inside the latch mechanism prevents the door from latching properly.the door will only relatch when the ice is melted, otherwise it will close most of the way but the door ajar light remains on since it is not properly latched.there have been times where the light goes off and we think it is properly latched only to see the light come back on again while driving.
Squeaky noise from the rear of the car, probably caused by suspension. From what i read online i'm not the only one having this issue. Http://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/direct/view/.f0fe2da/153http://www.mpvclub.com/tsb.php?id=189.
The car has less than 68,000 miles. Diagnosed as all suspension needing to be replaced. The mechanic diagnosing said, " i wouldn't let my mom drive that car" and that the suspension could blow out at any time while driving. All the arms of the suspension are bad/haywire and need to be replaced. I noticed that other 2007 mazda 5s have been recalled for the same problem. How i would wish that someone would please check if this 2007mazda5 should also be recalled-even though it was manufactured in a different timeframe than those currently in recall. It's a possibility you know. Please help. There is a very loud rattling sound, thudding of tires when driving at any speed and the back tires don't follow or "rotate" when turning-they "swing" and stay still, as if they lock. Also, the car floods extensively when it rains.
In december 2009 i was driving back from allentown airport and when i went over bumps the back of the car swayed and made a terrible knocking noise. I took it to the mazda dealer and they said it was the front bushing and the rear trailing arms. The car felt very unsafe to drive, so i had them do the work.they charged me 398.00 for a 45.00 part.i'm still having the same issue and when i contact the dealer they told me that it was probably because one of the rims were bent on my car! this is not the case. I have downloaded a service bulletin from the mazda site (no 02-001/08). I brought this bulletin to their attention and they said they did not complete this work and that i should bring in the bulletin and show it to them. My question is if the bulletin specifically indicates the problem that i reported to them on dec 2009, why didn't they perform what was suggested on the bulletin? also, not to mention my car is not under warranty any longer.......i will never buy a mazda again.i'm bringing the car back to them on 5/5/2010 and i'll keep you updated.
(5/2010) at my local mazda dealer during routine rotation maintenance of my tires i observed unusual ware on the inner areas of the tire tread areas and a grove carved on the inner sides of the tires. The grove was exposing areas of the steel belt of the tires. The first recommendation from mazda was to replace the tires, soon. After speaking with the mazda service rep he informed me that this issue has been known to occur in mazda 3's and that mazda came out with a longer upper control arm to help correct the alignment issue with the tires. The mazda dealer inquired and found no recalls or bulletins with the mazda 5 that could help me pay for the new, longer upper control arms for the rear of my car. They did find evidence that supported this alignment issue with mazda 3's. My cost to replace the upper control arms in the rear of the car would be approximately $400. At that time i paid to have my vehicles tires realigned at the mazda dealer & purchased 4 new bridgestone tires from a reputable tire garage 2 weeks later. (12/2010) six months later the same wearing of the tires was noticed during routine rotation maintenance of my tires. The mazda dealer again recommended that i purchase the longer upper control arms to see if that corrects the issue. (1/2011) i then contacted mazda corporate. They were sympathetic and agreed that this issue was not an anomaly; however, they were unable to assist me. They commented that since the dealer suggested this correction to the issue, they should probably help me. The mazda dealer told me that it is a mazda corporate issue. I drive my mazda 5 in constant fear that the tires will blow out and i will get in an accident. This should not be. Mazda told me that the correction is new longer control arms. This is a mazda safety issue. Why would i have pay for the defective upper control arm to not drive my car in fear of blowing tires?
Since i purchased this vehicle in 2009, i have replaced various suspension components numerous times, only to have a continual 'clunking' sound from the rear end.i will never recommend or purchase another!
Front suspension bushing when cold crack and make excessive noise.
The rear shocks on my 2007 mazda5 have failed for the second time. The first time was in the 40,000 mile range. At the time i though it was one shock going bad, and impacting and causing the other to go bad as well. Because i was out of warranty, i did not return to my mazda dealer for repair under warranty. Also i did not go to them because i found a local garage that put in mazda original replacements at a cheaper price. However, at 89,000 miles, my rear shocks have failed again! this is both dangerous, as the rear end is unstable over bumpy roads, and very costly to do every 40 - 50,000 miles.as can be seen in your own listing of several years of mazda5 complaints, problems with the suspension, and the rear suspension in particular, are common.
2007 mazda5 excessive rear inner tire wear. Caused by too much negative camber designed into the car with little or no way to adjust the settings. 39,000 miles on the 3rd set of tires.
The sliding doors seem to be frozen and they will not latch properly.one day while my daughters were in the car with me the doors slid open after i drove away and they thought they had closed the doors.the other two days the door did not slide open but the light indicated the door was open but we hadn't used the doors we only unlocked them.

The sunroof exploded while i was driving on freeway.
2007 mazda mx-5 customer states that the car was parked 10 feet from the house and suddenly the car accelerated and crashed into the house**nar**ccaccording to the report, the source of the problem may have been electrical.
