Starting about a month after we bought the car we noticed that the indicator light for the passenger side air bag would sometimes light up indicating that the passenger side airbag was deactivated. We stop the car and exited the vehicle and reentered the vehicle and the light started to work properly.over the next several days we noticed that the issue was happening more often. We took the car to brown's mazda in alexandria. After checking the car out they said there was nothing wrong with the car. On tuesday september 2, 2014 about 10 days after having the car serviced my wife and i was driving on a level city street around 5:48 pm, at that time the indicator light was off, which would indicate that the airbag and active restraints are on and that the car recognizes that there is an adult in the passenger side seat. A car pulled out from a side street in to traffic causing us to hard brake in order to avoid the accident. My wife that was in the passenger seat was thrown forward as if she did not even have a seat belt on, the active seat restraint did not tighten at all. The passenger side airbag light that was off was now on indicating that the airbag and restraint system was off.she was shaken but thankfully not harmed.again we took it to the dealership and they have said that there is nothing they can do to fix it's just part of the design and that people my wife size should not use the car. I am very concerned about driving the car, because there is no way to predict when the airbag will decide to deactivate leaving the passenger at risk of injury if there were a crash or rollover.

My 2014 mazda 3 suddenly and unexpectedly accelerated and crashed into a parked truck. There was an eye-witness. Here is what happened: i was driving on a quiet, dead-in street accompanied by my husband.i turned left into the turn around area at the end of the street. As i was coming to a stop, with my foot on the brake, the car suddenly accelerated'going very fast, very quickly.it leapt over the curb, narrowly missed a tree and a fire hydrant, passed back over the street i had been on moments earlier, and crashed into a parked pick-up truck.the air-bags did not deploy.all of this happened in 2 to 3 seconds. We were not hurt.the eye witness was in his yard, which adjoins the turn-around area. After the accident, he came over and asked if i was ok. He asked me if i could turn my car off.the eye witness later told me he had seen the whole thing and that i never had control over the car.he said he told the police that he was watching me turn my car into the turnaround area and saw the car suddenly accelerate. He wanted me to know that there was a mechanical problem with my car.he told me that when he approached the car, it was revving and still trying to accelerate into the truck, even though my feet were nowhere near the pedals.that was why he asked if i could turn the car off.i remembered before turning the car off, that i could hear the whine of the engine as it sounds when it is at high rpms.theunexpected acceleration and the fact that the air-bags did not deploy are both serious safety concerns. The car was towed to the mazda dealership and the service department contacted mazda corporation who sent an engineer to check it out.they said they could not find a problem, but they put an event data recorder on the car to monitor it. They drove the car for a few days and nothing showed up.the dealer bought the car back.

The contact owns a 2014 mazda 3. The contact stated that the vehicle had stalled several times with no warning. The dealer heritage mazda catonsville (6616 baltimore national pike, catonsville, md 21228, 1-(844) 224-1951) recharged the battery as an interim repair due to the intermittent loss of power. However, they had not provided a permanent remedy so the vehicle was not repaired. Within days, the vehicle had continued to have a loss of power and stalled. The manufacturer had no recall campaign and had only 1 tsb on the electrical system for this year, make and model which was unacceptable to the contact. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, indicated that there was no recall campaign to provide a solution so the contact was uncertain if the vehicle may be repaired. The vin was not available. The approximate failure mileage was not available.

Has anyone else had problems with the radio system. My radio fades in and out continuously. It plays fine when i use the cd player or play pandora but when i play the radio it is horrible!

The car's cmu needs to be replaced so the car has no functioning radio, gps or bluetooth. The screen on the dash constantly tries to reboot, which is a distraction and hazard while driving, particularly at night.mazda has not been able to give me any timeline for the repair and claims it is not covered under an extended warrantee that it issued for the touch screen in this model and year mazda3.

A few times when starting up the vehicle, the mazda emblem pops up slowly, then fades away, and the lcd system screen will continue to be a blank, black screen with no response until i restart the car. About 7-10 times it has happened where i'm driving and all of a sudden the music will stop, then the lcd screen shows a mazda emblem, and the system reboots itself. I'm taken notes and have tried to find commonalities when this happens, but have not yet.i've mentioned it each time i get a mazda oil service, but the techs never find anything.i also have video recording of one of the instances where it lasted particularly long.

On numerous occasions when i attempt to accelerate, the vehicle does not move forward and feels like it might be jammed.the car will then propel into gear causing my vehicle to skid out.the problem is intermittent.it appears to be happening the worst when making right hand turns. This has resulted in one accident, and two near fatal accidents.

The contact owns a 2014 mazda 3. While driving at approximately 50 mph, the speedometer decreased to zero and the accelerator pedal was depressed but the vehicle did not accelerate. All of the warning lights illuminated. The failure recurred four times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure.the failure mileage was approximately 6,700.

Occasionally the engine will hesitate when accelerating, and then the check engine light, tpm, and stability control light will illuminate on the dash. Less frequently, the engine will occasionally stall while driving or while sitting at a stop light. The lights on the dashboard will remain illuminated, so i do not think it's a total loss of power.

I have had two continuous issues with my 2014 mazda 3; the navigation system shuts down and then begin a cycle of continuously shutting down a rebooting and the heads up display at times does not pop up when i start the vehicle.the only way to stop this is to pull over, shut off the car and then start it back up again (this generally fixes both the navigation and hud issue, although these issues do not seem to be related as the have not occurred at the same time before.) this certainly seems like a software issue as rebooting does fix the problem. This happened multiple times and mostly occurs at the end of long trips, when i need it most. In some instances this has led me to take wrong turns in heavy traffic or forced me to pull over in heavy traffic in order to figure out where i am going. Mazda needs to deal with these issues as they can pose a safety hazard to those following the navigation directions. As always do not depend solely on a navigation system, especially the one in the 2014 mazda3. It will enter into a cycle of continually shutting down and rebooting when you need it most. I have brought my vehicle to a dealer to update the software to the latest version a few months ago, it did not fix the problem. I went to a dealer for a recent oil change i mentioned the problem and they did not even seem to know what the latest software version was or why i would want it updated. I hope that most dealers would update the software for a car under warranty when they complete an oil change, or at the very least know and make the customer aware a newer version of the software is out so an update can be scheduled. I plan to complete this update, but no one at the mazda service center i went to was able to tell me what the update changed/fixed. I am highly disappointed in the vehicle's navigation and hud. Caveat emptor when buying a year one model.

The 2014 mazda 3 has a notice bulletin regarding a known issue on the radio and connect system failing.mazda will not replace or fix this issue without telling customers to pay $1010 for a new hardware unit which some have reported not fixing the issue.mazda needs to recall this part as it affects the entire computer of the car by not allowing the driver to control the radio, maintenance, hands free communication, navigation, and car settings.shame on mazda

On may 7, 2014, at approximately 11:00 pm i parked in a parking space, on a hill, at towson woods apartment complex. I turned the car off with the emergency brake engaged at over 3/4 of the way up. I was standing about 10 feet outside my car, which was off and stationary, talking to a friend for approximately 10-15 minutes when my car started to roll backwards of its own accord. I attempted to push it, which failed, and then i jumped into the drivers seat and tried to pull the emergency brake up as far as it could go, which did not stop the car. It then crashed into the bumper of another car. Because the wheel had been turned to the left when i parked, the car had rolled at an angle so that only the right side bumper made contact with the other car?s big aluminum bumper that sticks out. After driving the car out from against the bumper, i found there to be cosmetic damage that included the bumper sticking out. (estimate $855)may 16, 2014 at 9:00 am. After approximately an hour and a half i was told that the technicians found that the emergency brake applied when the handle was applied all the way up, which they termed ?within normal operation." however, for ?peace of mind,? they told me that they tightened the brake so that now it only goes up 5 clicks. The actual wording used is ?tech made minor adjustment so ebrake does not go all the way up.? on may 21, 2014, at approximately 7:05 pm, i started my car and a flashing light on my dashboard appeared. This is the ?bsm off? light, in regards to the blind spot monitoring. I read the manual and it said to clean the area where the bsm sensors are, which i did. It still was malfunctioning so i did the next step in the manual, which was to take the car to the dealer. Estimate $250on june 2 the problem happened again. The parking brake goes all the way up. We are taking it back to the dealer again to have it fixed.

Unfortunately a picture will not work for what us happening in my vehicle. The navigation hub in my vehicle with start to phantom press buttons when stopped or driving. When stopped it will start to open menus and change settings as well as open the phone and attempt to dial numbers on it own. This can be very distracting while stopped as it is constantly beeping and clicking which prevents me from paying attention. While the car is in motion it is unable to dial numbers but will still go into menus and start changing settings which is a huge distraction from the road while driving. There is no way to turn off the system and if you try to mute it with the mute button the system has unlimited itself and continued to rapidly change setting or select different things within the menu all the while making very audible and distracting noises. This is a known issue that has been seen in many forums and mazda has not done anything to fix this for their customers. My fear is that of the fact that it can take your attention away from driving while this is happening. It is not a consistent condition though and will not do it for days, weeks or months but then will all of a sudden start up again. Resetting the system does nothing to fix this as well as turning the car off then on again. I hope that this issue may be recalled as it poses safety hazards for anyone with this problem to be distracted and not pay attention to what is happening on the road which could lead to traffic collisions especially in in climate weather.

The contact owns a 2014 mazda mazda3. The contact stated that while driving 40 mph, the check engine, traction, air pressure, and brake warning lights illuminated. In addition, the vehicle decelerated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the repairs were unknown. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure and current mileage was 3,500.

Car has died three two times and it is less than a year old.there are a lot of complaints like mine on the internet.please look into this safety issue.

According to the dealer, the steering sensor and abs module have gone back. The car has only 35,000 miles on it. I spoke to a local mechanic who indicated that the modules are flying off the shelves right now because so many of them are going bad.

I was driving on the freeway and decided to pass a diesel truck to get over in to the exiting lane on the right.... I started to pass the diesel and realized that i would need to pass faster to make the exit... I pushed the gas pedal in harder to accelerate and as i was picking up speed my car just locked up.... It felt like the car stalled..... And the car went off.... I had to very quickly pull out of the lane and to the side of the road as the car was no longer operating... I narrowly missed being plowed by the diesel truck... And was able to pull off to the side. I tried to restart my car by pushing the button and it wouldn't restart an all these light were lighting up in the console. I had to wait about 10 mins and finally my car came back on.

The contact owns a 2014 mazda mazda3. The contact stated that while coming to a stop, the vehicle lunged forward. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician stated that the power module needed to be updated. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure.the failure mileage was 7,600 and the current mileage was 9,200. Updated 07/16/14 ma

My car is equipped with a push to start/stop (keyless) "feature". I pulled my car into the garage last night (with the radio off), pressed the start/stop button to stop the engine, and went inside. When i woke up this morning, the car was still running, all night inside my attached enclosed garage. Co meter measure non-zero ppm levels a few hours after shutting the car off. Other then the radio, there are no obvious non-audible indications that the engine is running / not running. Additional expectation would be the car should be smart enough to automatically shut itself off after idling for extended period of time. Mine was running in the garage for about 6.5 hours.

There is a serious issue with the reception for the radio. It constantly fades in and out and is so bad that i cannot use my radio in a large metropolitan area. I brought the car in to the dealer to recreate the issue and they said that they couldn't hear it.

My infotainment system and backup camera is erratic. The infotainment system well automatically dial telephone numbers, change channels and randomly change other items. This happens when i'm driving. My backup camera also intermittently cuts out.

Tcs malfunction. 'transmission control system' symbol is car with skid mark on the bottom. Take to dealer right away.

My car has been stalling while i'm driving

After a car wash at home, the traction control sensor and the tire pressure monitor sensor on the rear driver side tire both failed.the underlying systems continued to function but due to the sensor failure, warning lights for both systems showed up on the dash and abs brakes were unavailable.repair required replacement of the entire abs module.

Safety recall-electrical system:alternator/generator/regulatorwhile driving on the highway, with my wife and daughter in the backseat i notice my battery light come on. After that every warning light on dashboard came on and the car began to slow down even when pressing my foot on the gas. The car even tried stoping and the steering locked up. We were successfully able to get it towed but i believed this happen because the dealers didn't fix the recall and instaed they bypassed it.

Harsh vibration in cabin similar to an engine misfire occurs randomly near idle or immediately after ignition. The dealership and manufacturer have been made aware of this concern and were unsuccessful in reproducing or isolating source of the vibration. Video documentation of the failure during its occurrence has been provided to both parties and has been forwarded to the senior regional engineer for analysis.current owner has an open vehicle repurchase claim under lemon law with the manufacturer pending investigation of fault.

On february 23, 2015, i purchased a new 2014 mazda 3 s grand touring sedan with technical package, vin # [xxx].the vehicle current mileage is 5,470.since purchase, this car has had a stalling problem that is intermittent, unpredictable, and not reproducible on demand.stalling means it does not respond to normal pressure on the accelerator, and literally coasts for a period of time.this time may vary from 2 to 10 seconds in a given instance.during this time the motor is running, there is no check engine light, and no codes are thrown.i have learned that quickly repeated pressing of the accelerator may help terminate the stalling.common factors when stalling occurs seem to be when the engine is warm.the car has been driven for a while, and then the car has been parked for a short time, restarted, and moved back to traffic followed by a 90 degree right or left turn or car is driving normal route then stops for a stop light/stop sign or traffic, followed by a 90 degree right or left turn.in both these scenarios, there is a sharp turn.the car will just finish the turn and then stall when the accelerator pedal is pressed.it should go without saying that if this problem occurs at the wrong time, it could be a major safety hazard to life and property.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

My vehicle is equipped with standard "push-button" start which is used in conjunction with a radio controlled "key fob."while standing within a close proximity to the vehicle, the doors will unlock with the touch of a button on the door handle and the vehicle will start with the touch of the interior start button and the brake pedal pushed down.the same interior start button is pushed again to turn off the engine.on april 15, 2015, after parking the vehicle, i put the car in park, engaged the hand brake, and exitted the car, forgetting to push the interior start button to turn off the engine.i left the vicinity of the vehicle (about 100 yards away) and the car engine continued to run until i returned, 2hours and 40 minutes later to turn the car off.my local mazda dealer said this was normal and there was no built-in safety mechanism to prevent the car engine from running while the "key fob" was no where near the car.imagine the safety concerns associated with this?if the car were parked in a residential garage, the results would have been disasterous.why doesn't the engine automatically cut off when the key fob is a certain distance from the vehicle?why isn't the alert (a short series of beeps identical to other beeps the car makes when locked) distinctive and alarming?this is a serious, life-threatening situation associated with the use of keyless start engines that needs to be addressed.

In parking garage, turning into parking spot.car engine revved up, and car accelerated into the guard rail, smashing the frontend of the vehicle and damaging the radiator.driver did not put foot on the gas; car lunged forward on it's own. The airbag deployed, and driver had dark bruises on abdomen, left anterior thigh, and left side of neck d/t seat belt, and also had minor whiplash.fortunately, no other cars or people were around when car accelerated.also, had the car had more than just a few feet to run into something, the driver would have been injured worse.prior to incident, car engine revved up for several seconds on its own twice while driving down the highway.

While merging onto the highway and accelerating to highway speeds, the car lost power, the check engine light flashed, the traction light came on, and the check tire pressure came on all at the same time. The car also would not allow me to accelerate past 35-40 mph. After taking it to the dealership, it was determined that one of the four engine coils needed to be replaced. A month and half later, the same thing happened and another engine coil is needing replacement.

Led daytime running lights flickering going dim and then bright when the headlights are turned on, and the car is in gear.

July 2018 i noticed the rear passenger wheel getting really hot and making a popping sound after driving it on hot pavement.the brake caliper was stuck and i had to get a new rotor, rear driver's brake caliper and new brake pads.i had to wait 3 weeks for the caliper to come in.the mechanic said it was odd all the other calipers were available for immediate delivery except the rear passenger one.we looked online and noticed a recall but my vin was not included.fast forward 1 year - august 2019, i was smelling fuel around the driver's wheel well and inside the vehicle after fill up. I didn't notice any fuel leaking onto the ground underneath the car.i took the car to my mechanic and there is a fuel leak coming from the seem of the gas tank. The whole tank has to be replaced and possibly the fuel pump.once again i have another wait for the parts from mazda - at least a week.these are 2 very expensive repairs in the matter of a little over a year for a car with 30,000 miles on it.he said when he looked under the back seat he couldn't believe how much fuel leaked out.he said from looking online, my car should have been recalled for both of these incidents since other models of the same year were.i contacted mazdacorporate about each of these issues and they tell me my vehicle was not impacted by the recall and there is nothing they can do since it's no longer under warranty.

My 2014 mazda3 is leaking from a seam in the fuel tank. There is an existing campaign for other 2014 mazda3s #16v684000 but my vin apparently is not caught in that campaign.seems highly suspect that some vehicles of the same year were missed when developing the campaign. My vehicle is on the lift now and my mechanic is watching fuel drip from the seam in the tank.note this is happening with a full tank of fuel, when vehicle is stationary.after parking there is distinct fuel order emanating from the rear of the vehicle.

Purchased as new vehicle. From the time of purchase i smelled gasoline in garage after parking overnight. After 1,000 miles/3 months the gas smell became increasingly stronger and gas mileage plummeted from 30 mpg to 18 mpg. Took the car to the dealer for repair. They said the seams of fuel tank were leaking--entire tank had to be replaced; not safe to drive.

I noticed that my parking brake (emergency brake) did not feel as sturdy as it had been. It felt as if it had not been fully pulled up, but it had been. I drove to my destination and parked the car in a parking lot, which was flat. I tried to pull the parking brakes, but it would not go up at all. If i hold on to the parking brake, it works, but the lever will not stay up.there is a recall on parking brakes for this model, but not for my vin. This should be investigated. I believe the recall should reach a wider span of mazdas this model.

The contact owns a 2014 mazda 3. While driving various speeds, the emergency brake warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to wyoming valley porsche, audi, mazda, volkswagen and kia (126 narrows rd larksville, pa 18651 (570) 288-7411), but no failure was found. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the rear passenger side caliper was sticking to the brake rotor, and the caliper and housing needed replacement due to excessive rusting. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 17v393000 (parking brake); however, the parts to do the repair were unavailable. The dealer confirmed that the parts were not available. The contact had not notified the manufacturer of the failure. Vin tool confirms parts not available. The failure mileage was approximately 60,00.

The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer (bommarito mazda west, located at 15736 manchester rd, ellisville, mo 63011; (636) 391-0073) was contacted and confirmed that the parts were not available for the recall remedy. The manufacturer was not contacted. The contact had not experienced a failure. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

I bought my 2014 mazda 3 in november 2013. During the first 6 months of purchasing the car, my diver side rear caliper froze causing me to pay almost 900 dollars to replace the caliper, both rear pads, both rear rotors, and labor. A major reason for the inflated price was due to the calipers being a specialty item which not only made them extremely expensive but also took weeks to get delivered. Fast forward another five months later my rear side passenger caliper froze. So, once again i had to pay close to 900 dollars and wait weeks for the caliper to come in. I was told by multiple mazda certified mechanics as well as the mazda dealership shop managers to keep my receipts because the brakes i had were freezing on a lot of the new style 2014 mazda 3s. Finally in 2017, the recall finally posted. I called the dealership i bought the car from, central mazda in plainfield, ct, and was told my vin didn't have a recall associated with it. Apparently, even though my car had the exact part that was being recalled, as well as the issues described in the recall fitting exactly to my issue, my car was made in 2013 which the recall did not include. I was told to call mazda to see if something could be done due to my situation obviously being exactly what the recall was posted for. Unfortunately, once again i was told by mazda that my issue was different from the recall due my car being manufactured before the date for the recalled cars. In conclusion , i was stiffed with a bill for almost 2,000 dollars within the first year of buying a brand new car, as well as weeks of headaches due to not having my car. I have had a great experience with the car after this issue was finally fixed, but i will never buy a other mazda due to the way i was treated. If it wasn't for the manipulative way mazda claimed no responsibility, i would be a returning mazda customer.

Parking brakes will not hold car, even after adjusting the parking brake cable.

I initially had issue getting into and out of the 3rd and 4th gear (manual transmission car). I could feel gears grinding during shifting (with the clutch fully depressed). The dealer replaced the third gear. After the fix, the car now has difficulty getting into and out of gear 2 and 3. This problem is intermittent but is more noticeable after the initial start-up of the car, especially if the weather is cold (50f or colder). With the clutch fully pressed, i can still feel the gear rotating and grinding during shifting. When the car is cold, a lot of force is needed to shift the car into 2nd and 3rd gear. The shifting issue is less noticeable when once the car has been operating for 20mins.

As i was turning into a parking spot to park my car, the car accelerated on its own and ran into a concrete wall. I have had issues with this car's programming, including when i took my car in to get fixed after the safety recall in january '16. As i realized the car was accelerating - and pushing on the brake would not stop it - i lifted the emergency brake. The crash ultimately stopped the car - not the brake or emergency brake, and the airbag deployed.less concerned about the damage to the outside of the car, and more concerned that i had zero control over the car and any ability to stop it.

At appox 84000 miles the transmission suddenly failed with out warning. The car was being driven on a trip from alabama to north carolina. My wife was driving and had just turned off the highway to go to her friends house.

My daughter's 2014 mazda3 transaxle was making a whining noise. Upon doing an internet search, we discovered a technical service bulletin (tsb) that addressed this situation. The tsb #'s are 05-008/16, 05-005/15 and 05-004/14, and mentioned a bearing in the transaxle will be damaged due to an improper configuration of the transaxle case. In other words the transaxle case was manufactured incorrectly and the transmission cannot be rebuilt. We visited several mazda dealers whom verify the tsb addressed the situation. Mazda would not cover the $5,000 cost to replace the transaxle even though they knew at the time the car was purchased of the impending problem, and that it was only a matter of time before the transaxle would eventually fail, most likely once outside of the warranty period, which is just what happened. The transaxle failed at 70,000 miles, 10,000 miles over the 60,000 mile warranty, but it was well within the 5 year warranty period. We discussed the issue with at least a dozen local transmission repair shops for alternatives available. Additionally we also submitted an auto complaint form to the better business bureau (bbb), and spoke with the state of wisconsin consumer protector department, along with the lemon law auto area. We contacted mazda usa's 800# and the dealership where the car was purchased trying to obtain a more favorable resolution. With the assistance of the service manager and mazda zone representative, mazda usa presented us with a final offer of $2,500 for a re-manufactured trans-axle. With no other avenue available, we decided to have the repair done at a final cost of $2,572. We feel mazda should have issued a recall notice to fix this situation back in early 2014. They knew which cars manufactured would have the problem and at what point in time the trans-axles would fail. We are all very dissatisfied with mazda usa.

Around 68,000 miles, i began to hear a subtle whining noise coming from my 2014 mazda mazda3. I was unsure where it was coming from and originally thought it was something to do with the tires. As time passed, the noise became louder, eventually to the point where i felt i needed to get it checked out. A mechanic told me it was something to do with the automatic transmission because the sound was emitting there. He explained to me that there was a technical service bulletin posted by mazda that described the exact issue, and that's what he's sure it is. I got a second opinion from another mechanic and he explained the same thing. The cost to replace the transmission with a remanufactured model is somewhere in the ballpark of $2,000 - $3,500. The second mechanic i went to showed me the technical service bulletin. After the description, the bulletin states, "this is caused by a damaged bearing in the transaxle due to improper configuration of the transaxle case." this would be covered under warranty; unfortunately, the issue is known only to happen right around 65,000 + miles, after the warranty has expired. Because the technical service bulletin states the issue is "due to improper configuration", tells me that it is not something that should have happened. It only happened because of a manufacturing defect. After taking my car to the mazda service center, and being told they can't do anything about it, as well as speaking with mazda customer experience and explaining the situation, mazda was unwilling to help because my vehicle is no longer in warranty. I believe that because this issue was due to 'improper configuration' mazda should issue a recall. The technical service bulletin to reference for this complaint is bulletin no: 05-005/15 or nhtsa tsb # 10105626.

Rear passanger seat belt failed in lock position nothing in it no candy ect and stuck in the open position refuses to lock belt current mileage 37989 just out of bumper to bumper warrantee

The passenger seat belt had a tensioner that was broken from either right off the dealer's lot or shortly after. Under hard braking, my wife hit the dashboard inside the car once as a passenger. I should have brought it in earlier. I just brought it in today (6/20/2017) to the mazda dealer (putnam mazda in burlingame, ca) and they discovered the seatbelt's tensioner is broken internally. They are replacing it, though the part is backordered until july.there is reasonable suspicion to believe more than my vehicle may have been affected.

My daughter was driving at 65 mph on the interstate. The road was straight and she was traveling in the right hand lane when she was struck from behind left of center by another vehicle. Her car bounced off the right side guardrail and then spun across the roadway. Her car then struck the concrete barrier on the left side of the road. My daughter and her passenger were thrown backwards due to the impact from behind and my daughter lost consciousness at that point. She suffered a concussion and has had frequent and sometimes severe headaches, along with back and neck pain since the accident. The photos i am sending were taken after the vehicle was towed and the debris from the roadway was placed in the backseat of the car which is forcing the seats to be in a more upright position than they were at the crash scene, but you can still clearly see that the seatbacks broke. This is a very dangerous and preventable problem that needs to be addressed.

Loud squeaking after driving about 30 minutes, especially on left turn at low speeds. Squeak disappears with the slightest application of brake or parking break. My left rear wheel is especially affected by this; noticeable heat coming off the left rear after driving. Dealership said they had it on the jacks after they drove it 15 miles and they couldn't even turn it. They don't believe front wheels are affected.i've been telling them something was up with my brakes for months now. I suspected something was wrong when i was at an independent garage; i took it to mazda after they said nothing was wrong but i still noticed a feeling of the brakes sticking after hla activated especially.possibly a slow build up to a major problem over a period of months.

The contact owns a 2014 mazda 3. While operating the vehicle, a rubbing sound was heard coming from the rear brakes. The contact indicated that the rubbing sound became progressively worse. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer (mall of georgia mazda located in buford, ga) where it was diagnosed that the rear passenger side brake caliper was damaged due to exposure to water and had made contact with the brake rotor. The vehicle was repaired and the failure was remedied. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The contact was informed that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 17v393000 (service brakes). The contact stated that the vehicle experienced the same failure listed in the recall. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 56,000.

Car was taken in to be serviced at 47,950 miles and the left side calipers had to be replaced.car was taken in again at 53,474 miles and the right side calipers had to be replaced. *asthankfully we do routine maintenance on our vehicles. Thankfully it did not become a driving hazard and cause an accident. We had taken the car in both times to be serviced andthat is when they found the issue. When it happened the second time that is when i started to look into recalls pertaining to this issue. The following recall does not effect our modelmazda north american operations (mazda) is recalling certain 2014-2015 mazda6 and 2014-2016 mazda3 vehicles. Water could possibly enter the brake caliper causing the parking brake actuator shaft to corrode and possibly bind.

Emergency brake engages while driving & will not release. (exact same problem other mazdas were recalled.) occurred on both city streets & highway.

Can parking break will not fully engage or becomes disengaged even though parking break handle is lifted. Car will occasionally roll fwd on a hill of break does not engage.car rolled down a hill and even jumped the parking space curbs.driver was not in the car but break appeared to be set.

Issues with braking when coming to a stop. Passenger side rear caliper sticks, making a lot of noise and causing the pads to wear down way too quickly. Had to change my rotor and pad three times in the past 2 years. Now my mechanic says it's the caliper. I contacted mazda corporate about this problem and they told me my vehicle was not impacted by the 2017 recall and there is nothing they can do since it's no longer under warranty. It's a 5 year old car, it shouldn't be having these issues.

Emergency brake failed. Car parked in driveway, in gear and e. Brake engaged. Car was located in the middle of the street 20. Mins later. Dealership charged to replace breaks and same symptoms showing up again. Car less than 60k mi. This is manually engaged breaks not automatic.

My 2014 mazda 3 had very bad wear on the rear brakes, but not on the front.i took them apart, and both calipers were frozen.i contacted the dealership and they told me that there was a recall, but only for the cars manufactured in mexico, not in asia.the recall needs to be expanded, as mazda denied there was any problem with these calipers.clearly there is a more widespread problem than mazda will admit.

The contact owns a 2014 mazda 3. The contact stated that the vehicle exhibited abnormal grinding noises from the rear brakes. The failure occurred without warning. The vehicle was taken to cooley motor (401 north n greenbush rd, rensselaer, ny) where it was diagnosed that the rear brake caliper mounting support was severely corroded and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and stated that the vehicle did not qualify under mazda tsb 04-001-16 due to it not falling under the 36 month warranty. The failure mileage was approximately 32,000.

Parking brakes will not hold car, even after adjusting the parking brake cable.

Having spent approximately 10 miles in stop and go traffic, the traffic picked up again, only to come to another stop.i was unable to stop because my brakes had completely failed, my foot went to the floor and i had no braking response at all.i tapped the vehicle in front of me, no damage to his car, so we decided not to call the police.my car sustained cosmetic damage to the front end, pushed the left front fender back so i was unable to open the driver's door.i was approximately 250 miles from my home when this incident happened.the following day i did a test panic stop in a parking lot, and the brakes then responded appropriately.

Took my 2014 mazda3 igt hatch to a local shop to have front and rear brake pads replaced. Tech informed me that he noticed one side on the rear was worn more than the others. Parked on a hill the next day and noticed the parking brake had a lot more play than normal. The parking brake could not hold the car when pulled all the way up. Car rolled forward if shifter was in neutral with parking brake engaged. Took car to martin mazda in newark, delaware to have brake function checked. From invoice: "found internal malfunction in drivers side caliper with e-brake operation, requested p/a on caliper for repair, caliper is working hydraulically."they did not have the caliper in stock so i have to return when the part comes in. Checking online, i found out that there is a recall for this problem (nhtsa recall no. 17v-393 / mfr recall no.1217f) but my vin is not covered. I have the same e-brake problem, and the failure occurred in cold weather just as the recall states.this recall should be expanded.

My 2014 mazda3 with vin [xxx] is experiencing squeaking and binding of the manual parking brake while driving.the 2014 mazda3 has already had a recall for this issue under nhtsa campaign number: 17v393000.they say my car is not covered by this recall, but this car is a manual transmission with a manual parking brake and is less of these are made and less may have been reported.additionally, this website for mechanics (https://mazda.oemdtc.com/528/squeakinggrinding-noise-from-rear-brakes-2014-2016-mazda3) says that this is a recurring issue caused by: "squeaking/grinding noise from the rear brake even after the brake pedal is released. Upon inspection, the caliper mounting support is corroded and one of the disc pad is abnormally worn out (a).this is caused by vehicle usage in an area using road salt. The surface of the mounting support may swell from corrosion causing premature disc pad wear and brake noise.disc pad is abnormally worn out (a)to correct the problem, an improved caliper mounting support has been newly established as a service part. The anti-corrosion surface treatment has been changed from zn to zn-ni plating."the website says this problem affects:"2014-2016 mazda3 vehicles with vins starting with jm1" which my vehicle isas i live in california central valley and have no road salt, i believe this may be a systemic issue.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The contact owns a 2014 mazda mazda3. The contact stated that the rear brakes seized while driving down a hill. The failure occurred without warning. The contact inspected the vehicle and noticed that the rear brakes emitted extreme heat. The vehicle was taken to an inspection station where it was determined that the rear brakes were worn and needed to be replaced. The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.

According to the dealer, the steering sensor and abs module have gone back. The car has only 35,000 miles on it. I spoke to a local mechanic who indicated that the modules are flying off the shelves right now because so many of them are going bad.

Bought new vehicle at end of january 2014 and problems arises february 2014. Steering of the vehicle is faulty. While driving vehicle cannot easily maintain stable line. To stay straight having to keep the wheel about 5 degrees turned to the left. While making slight right turns, vehicle wheel becomes unstable and jerks left if going on bumps or dips. Very unsafe. Dealer admits the problems but will not replace part because mazda engineer said its within safety guidelines for mazda. How is a new vehicle ok to drive when it can't drive straight and takes extra effort and hold the wheel away from the norm to drive?

When driving on city streets on uneven pavement, the car emits popping and squeaks from the suspension. When getting in into a parking lot, the car producesa clunking noise that emanates from the front of the car. Also when winding and unwinding the steering while parking the car or moving slowly, again the vehicle emits clunking noises from the suspension. Today is 10/7/2020, i have purchased the vehicle from my next door neighbor who was the first owner of this car. The vehicle has been maintained regularly at the local mazda dealership and has no outstanding recalls. I took the car to the mazda dealership, they informed that there is a tsb since 2016 on this specific issue and will cost $600 to repair.

The contact owns a 2014 mazda 3. While driving various speeds in the rain, the contact heard a creaking noise coming from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to cabrera auto (carr #2 km 82.2 salida expreso hatillo, pr-2, arecibo, 00614, puerto rico) where it was diagnosed as functioning normally. The vehicle was then taken to mazda de la kennedy (marginal ave. Kennedy, km 2.1, urb. Industrial bechara, pueblo viejo, san juan, 00920 puerto rico) where it was diagnosed that the bushings on the front driver and passenger sides had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to mazda kennedy where it was diagnosed that the shocks failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired again, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to kennedy mazda where it received an unknown diagnosis and repairs; however, the failure recurred. The contact had another appointment scheduled with mazda kennedy. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 30,198.

While exiting a traffic circle, i heard a pop and the car swerved. I corrected but was too late as the front wheel hit the curbing causing the aluminum rim to crack on the passengers side.upon inspection i found a large rectangular piece of the tire side wall missing. The side wall separation wasthe tire on the passenger rear side. The rapid deflation caused the car to swerve while exiting the turn. Fortunately i was traveling at a low rate of speed!

The infotainment screen has spider cracks in 2 corners that are starting from the sealed inside of screen. It is spreading and according to the internet blogs happening to other mazda's. See attached photos. The screen has not been damaged and most of the changes happen when i use the command knob and not touching the screen.

Car caught of fire on the freeway whole car was consumedstarted in the front right wheel well area

I was driving on the interstate when i heard a very loud explosion. I looked up and the center of my sunroof was gone. There was a little glass in the car, but most of the glass exploded outward. The glass in the car consisted of small shards. Fortunately no one was with me so no injuries.

It has happened twice in 6 years and5 months. Road hazard like a torn wheel from other car or divider on road. If when driving it goes over it during night time the computer within the mazda 3 triggers automatic deflation of the car tires.

Tcs malfunction. 'transmission control system' symbol is car with skid mark on the bottom. Take to dealer right away.

The cable controlling the air blower from cold to warm will disconnect. This has happened at stationary and in motion. The bracket controlling connecting the arm moving the blower has broken.

I was driving down the freeway in the snow/rain mix when i heard a loud bang! i though i was hit by another car but when i looked around i noticed the glass of my sunroof had shattered and some glass fell on me.upon further investigation, the sunroof had actually blew out and upwards from the inside out. I contacted the dealership who then submitted a claim to mazda. Although they are aware of latent defects in sunroofs, they refuse to repair/replace mine. It's cold and raining here and i have part of my car roof missing due to a manufacturers defect that i keep reading about all over the internet.this is dangerous to have happen and these sunroofs should be replaced. I could have been killed driving down the freeway thinking i was either hit or shot at!i have images upon request as they are not loaded on this computer.

There are reports online that mazda3 2014-2016 has a defective infotainment system. Screen blacks out and plays one radio station or touchscreen malfunctions. All mazda dealers in houston do not speak of fixing this for free . But throughout mazda forums across the u.s. Some people have this equipment replaced for free as mazda knows this isa problem on such vehicle models and years.

My in car monitor is cracking at the screen and will not turn on. It has been this way for several months. The dealership told me it would cost thousands. I did nothing to the system it just does not work. This is a big problem. I see there are recalls for canada vehicles with the same problem but my vin is not included.

About a month ago i got into my vehicle and noticed a corner of my infotainment screen was cracked.the cracking is internal and seems to spider around the corner.it cannot be felt externally in any way.doing some research, i came across multiple other owners displaying similar problems.i was also able to find service alert no. Sa-008/18 which pertained to the same issue even labeling it as (spider cracking).calling mazda's customer experience department, i was informed (and knew) that a service alert is not a recall.while this is true it is something that occurs due to normal temperature changes in a product (vehicle) that should be able to withstand such conditions.i was also informed that the service alert did not include my vin even though my vehicle is inside the year, make, and model the service alert pertains to.i was encouraged to reach out to nhtsa if i had further concerns.while the spider cracking was more of an aesthetic issue since then i have noticed the infotainment will often rapidly change through various menus and apps.this causes both a sudden distraction to the driver as well as potentially making unknown changes to the vehicle systems maintained through the infotainment package.while my wife was driving the vehicle last week and trying to use the navigation, she was consistently having the directions break up and display change causing her to need to pull over.given that both the aesthetic cracking and the menu/apps changing problems began at the same time it seems that the internal crack may have thrown off some pressure/contact the display relies on.the vehicle is available for inspections upon request.aesthetic problem was seen by the dealer on july 7, 2021 however the function changes were not observed until just after.

The infotainment center on the dash repeatedly glitches out, will start randomly calling contacts if bluetooth is synced will randomly switch to radio stations, pandora, info on the screen, using the steering wheel controls and center console controls will not do anything. It happens at random times stationary or at any speed, you can't turn it off because the controls don't work, resetting it doesn't work, disconnecting the battery doesn't work it just starts up again as soon as the car turns on, it's an intermittent issue so it may not happen all the time but lingers for days or weeks at a time when it does glitch out.

Sunroof glass shattered in very cold weather.glass actually exploded.vehicle stationary at stoplight on city street

I have 2 issues. Themost dangerous one is the entertainment system. It jumps around from phone to radio to contacts to music and randomly makes calls, plays the radio, and cannot be controlled. It is very dangerous as it is distracting to driver. When it make calls it cannot be disconnected and whichever screen is displayed it acts as if someone isconstantly making contact with the system.radio stations change and phone calls are madethe second problem is that half of the screen is cracked making it impossible to see anything on it.both of these problems have been recognized by mazda but did not repair it when i took it in.they want to change the screen but i'm not sure that is the problem with the uncontrolled system. This happens when the temperature is warm outside.i have read many of the exact same complaints for both of these issues.these issues are mostly when i am stopped but continues when i am moving. Since mazda does recognize these problems and have directions for correcting them, they still want me to pay for a new screen and system

The headrests jut forward at an extreme angle and causing chronic and acute neck, head and back pain.the design of these is a result compliance with the nhtsa's headrest standard.the nhtsa went too far and should reconsider the standard.it is causing misery for thousands or even millions of motorists.to alleviate the pain, i was forced to reverse the headrest...making it far unsafer in the event of an accident. There are thousands of posts about this online.

My car has been stalling while i'm driving

Tread separation on two factory-mounted original equipment yokohama tires within 3 weeks at highway speeds, one incident causing significant body damage. Incidents occurred at approximately 19,000 miles.

It appears the mazda computer electronics trigger auto defaltion of tires after hitting a road hazard on the road. It has happened more than once and i had to replace my tires multiple times.. Once at 35 mph and other at 44 mph approx

The glass sunroof spontaneously exploded while we were driving 65mph in lane on a straight section of i-476 between allentown and quakertown pa at 11am on december 31, 2019, constant 40 temp, no recent change in altitude, not near an overpass or close to other traffic. No indication that anything struck the vehicle from any direction. Sounded like a shotgun blast. My wife and i were showered with broken glass.terrifying and extremely dangerous, but we were able to exit the highway safely. Subsequently read the 2017consumer reports article on such events - turns out this is a thing. Insurance covered repair, we were out only the deductible. Repair took three weeks. We can provide documents if you like.

7/27/163:30 pmweather clear and dry ' temperature 78 degreesmileage about 24,000all regular maintenance up to datei accelerated onto washington sr 520 eastbound at exit 51 to get up to merging speed.i kept the car in second gear and the engine revved to about 5,000 rpm.i don't think i have ever driven the car over 4500 rpm in the nearly 3 years i have owned it.i am not sure why i didn't shift into third as i usually do.third gear is my definitely my preferred gear for this maneuver and it always works well for merging onto a high speed highway. I was greeted with multiple flashing idiot lights for engine, tire pressure and anti-skid.the throttle was unresponsive and i was not able to merge onto the highway safely as my speed dropped rapidly from about 45 to 30.i limped along in the first lane at about 30 mph, i tried to turn on my emergency flashers but i don't think they worked.i am not certain of this last point as i was panicked that the engine had appeared to quit just has i was merging into heavy rush hour traffic that was moving at about 60-65 mph. I could not get any power in any gear and tried feathering the throttle.i pulled off the highway at the next exit ' about 1 mile.i shut off the engine and let it rest for about 30 seconds.when i turned the car back on, everything appeared normal.no idiot lights and the throttle responded normally.i was able to drive the last couple of miles home without incident.i absolutely love this car but this incident scared the crap out of me.

I was turning slowly into a parking space between two parked cars with my foot on the brake.approximately 1/4 to 1/3of the way into the space the car suddenly accelerated (my foot still on the brake).it jumped the curb, crossed over the sidewalk, "took out" 2 pilings and large flower box and then stopped.engine was still running.it happened in a matter of seconds and i had no time to react in any way.car had to be winched off of the pilings which now have to be reset approx. 15" - 18" into the ground.i have photos taken by a neighbor, but do not know how to upload them.tow truck driver took some to show to the insurance adjuster.

Moments after driving my 2014 mazda 3, i noticed the blue coolant dashboard icon was lit signaling the coolant is cold. As i drove without touching the accelerator, the car abruptly accelerated and i had to slam on the brakes so i would not rear end the car in front of me. Plus, i noticed the coolant dashboard icon turn off also. The cruise was completely off!

My mother was driving my car on the long island expressway with 2 passengers in the car. She was driving around 60 mph when the car suddenly accelerated by itself. In a matter of a few seconds the car went from 60 mph to over 120 mph. She tried pressing the brake pedal as hard as she could but the car would not respond. She had tododge about 7 cars as she tried to get the car to slow down. She then pulled the emergency break but the car was moving so fast that it barely slowed the car down. She got her car to the side (last lane) of the highway and decided to press the push to start button and the car finally came to a halt. There was not too much traffic so she was able to survive the cars sudden acceleration without getting hurt or damaging the car. A witness on the highway saw my mothers car speeding out of control and called the police. The police came and filled out a police report and left. We got the car towed to a mazda dealership and left it there overnight so they could figure out the issues as there was clearly a defect with the car. They called us back saying thateverything was checking out normal on the car and they decided to have the car technician drive the car home and back to work the next time in an attempt to duplicate the issue. They called us the next day saying they drove the car 58 miles and could not duplicate the issue and told us that we had to pick up the vehicle. They said that my family feeling safe in the mazda vehicle was their priority but that was clearly not the case. They refused to take responsibility if this problem happened again and we got into an accident and also refused to provide us with a loaner car or a replacement vehicle or provide assistance in trading in the car for a new one. They said they had done all they could and until this happened again they would not be able to assist us. My mom could've died in that car.

On or about august 18th, i was driving through slow-down traffic passing the scene of a multi-car accident on highway 101 in san mateo county, ca at 35-40 mph. Without warning, the moonroof glass exploded. (it was closed at the time.) there was no loud noise preceding the event, and no sign of any foreign object striking the car, nor among the debris. A week later, i had the glass replaced at putnam mazda in burlingame, ca. I paid for the repair out of pocket (us$790.61). But in talking to the service rep, he confirmed that no outward cause for the failure was apparent. All gaskets and seals were intact and installed correctly, all mounting points were within tolerances, and the sunroof operated normally. The only sign of an issue was the actual broken glass. At this time i was told i was the third mazda3 owner that week to come in for a moonroof repair (the second one that very day). This points more to a latent defect in the material/part, rather than a force majeure situation. And seeing as the car was repaired at a mazda dealership with mazda-approved parts, that leaves me concerned that this exact same failure might happen again in the future. I reached out to mazda usa, and my request to have my expenses reimbursed was denied because without "inspection or diagnosis from the dealer we would not be able to review for reimbursement". It should be noted that the mazda dealership that performed the repair recommended that i seek out a goodwill reimbursement from mazda usa.

The rear view mirror is so low on the front windshield that it makes anything to the left of center of the car, very difficult to see.i rented this car.i cant believe they are allowed to position the rear view mirror as such.it is a safety hazard.

While driving down freeway in clear warm weather, the passenger rear tire had the side wall blow out. This produced about a 2 inch square hole in the tire.

It has happened twice in 6 years and5 months. Road hazard like a torn wheel from other car or divider on road. If when driving it goes over it during night time the computer within the mazda 3 triggers automatic deflation of the car tires.
