Takata recallaccording to your airbag recall list website (http://www.safercar.gov/rs/takata/takatalist.html), the 2014 mazda cx-9 is part of the takata recall, however when you use the look-up tool, it is not listed as under recall (https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls).please confirm whether my vehicle is under recall. When will mazda update their info on this and begin notifications?

Takata recallmy complaint is that i have received several notices referencingthe takata airbag problem.mazda has still not initiated a recall.i have supplied my email address to the tkrestucturing.com/ppic in reference to the chapter 11 case no. 17-11375 (bls). My complaint specifically is against mazda and why they are dragging their feet in initiating recalls for the affected airbags.we have not had an issue yet, but do fear what could happen if a vehicle crash would deploy the airbags.injuries and even death could happen.mazda needs to begin issuance of the recall notices asap. I am using today's date below since a date is required to continue.

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2014 mazda cx-9. The contact stated that nhtsa campaign number: 18v717000 (air bags) exceeded a reasonable amount of time for repair. The contact received the recall letter in october of 2018. The dealer (napleton's arlington mazda, 1555 e rand rd, arlington heights, il 60004) stated that the part was not available for the repair. The manufacturer had not been contacted. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect. Consumer stated repair completed.

1) when left parked for 2-3 days, mazda cx-9 (mine is 2013) consistently drains the battery2) on my grand touring the steering has a shake at above 60 mph the above problems are common on all mazda cx-9 and consumers are spending $$$ on these manufacturer issues

I started my car at home to allow it to warm up while i got the kids ready for school. My cars starts with keyfob (no key)once we was all ready we left home to go to school. I proceeded to drive my car to the school (without the keys, apparently i left them on the table and forgot to grab them) we arrived at the school. I parked, turned the car off and entered the building.when i returned to leave, i was unable to since i did not have my car keys. My mazda cx9 will shift into gear and drive without the fob within proximity to the vehicle this clearly violates fmvss 114 s5.2.2- except as specified in s5.2.4, the vehicle must be designed such that the transmission or gear selection control cannot move from the 'park' position, unless the key is in the starting systemtherefore, i was stranded, i contacted mazda service (because in the past it seemed as when i got into the car to leave without the keys, i could not shift our of park) to ask they said that is how it was meant to operate.this is a major safety concern.1) my car can be moved without the key fob2) no notice that key fob is missing3) be stranded due to not having keys.

I was slowly approaching a stop light when our 2014 mazda cx-9 started having vibrations, which at first came from underneath, between the driver's row and the 2nd row passenger. It immediately felt as if the car's engine was about to fail. I managed to make that right turn, carefully stepping on the brakes, and crossed a rail-road crossing. The car was running at a speed of 20 mph. I slowed down to make another right turn towards my destination, then the engine abruptly died.the battery and check engine lights suddenly lit up on the dashboard. From the intersection's stop light to the location where the engine failed, it was a distance of approximately 0.5 mile.my wife came and picked up our 3 children from the corner of the street. My brother-in-law came to my location with jumper cables and gave my engine's battery a jump-start. The engine started but the vibrations were stronger. The car ran for another 0.3 mile before it died again. I had the car towed to the mazda dealership from where i purchased the car. After 1 day i was told that the incident was possibly due to a bad tank of gas. Another day later, i was told that something else was wrong with the engine, and that it was unrelated to the earlier suspicion of bad gas. After 5 business days, i was told that the engine's cylinder 6 needs a new cylinder head. The other option was a complete engine overhaul. The car has never been in an accident, and has approximately 81,000 mileage. The estimated cost for repairs was $5,834.this is a very serious safety issue that warrants an investigation. Had the car experienced engine failure on a busy interstate, my family and others could've been seriously injured or even killed.

The engine sputtered and stopped without warning while driving. It turned out the water pump went out and spilled water internally in the engine. The car has 73,000 miles on it and it appears that this has been happening to other owners of this vehicle routinely, and mazda has kept this design flaw and safety concern a secret. It is costing over $2,200 to repair, and i believe that mazda should be held accountable for it. Thank you. My wife took our 2014 mazda cx-9 to liberty mazda for a check engine light that came on the evening before she already and an appointment for another issue. She asked them to check the light as well.after their findings they told sue the car had a catastrophic water pump engine failure. This water pump is located inside the timing chain cover and leaks coolant in to the engine. At this point we were handed over to a sales rep. Who informed us this was a foolish design with the water pump located in the powertrain behind the timing chain cover. This causes catastrophic engine failure with no warning this is wrong and should not happen. We talked to jason the sales manager who reiterated the same message and said he would put in a good word for me if cooperate called about my complaint.he did and cooperate offered us the eplan on a new car.approximately $2,000.00 for a car valued at $12-14,000.00 this engine was manufactured by ford for mazda and the ford escapes have the same trouble. Please feel free to contact me

I noticed a rough noise when i started the 2014 mazda cx-9. I chose to ignore it thinking it was because of the cold weather. Got to the highway on the way home to kansas city from columbus, oh. Several miles later when filling gas, i noticed a weird smell like that of a burning rubber or coolant. The car got me home same but i noticed slight smoking from the engine when i got home.took it to the mechanic and he advised it was the water pump. He didnt have the right tools to replace it so i took it to a mazda dealership who advied getting a new engine. It's been over three weeks and i'm still waiting or the dealership to find an engine they could replace with. Total cost, $4k - $5k. Extremely frustrated that mazda wouldnt recall cars with this type of engine/ water pump problem!

The contact owns a 2014 mazda cx-9. While driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicle lost power and stalled without warning. The contact was able to restart the vehicle after several attempts; however, the failure recurred. The contact stated that there was an odor of coolant fluid and smoke appeared from the front of the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence and then towed to napleton's countryside mazda (6060 south la grange road, countryside, il 60525, (708) 354-2700) to be diagnosed, which was still pending. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 118,000.

The contact owns a 2014 mazda cx-9. While driving 45 mph, the contact heard an abnormal noise and detected a strong odor inside the vehicle. The vehicle was coasted to the side of the road and taken to an independent mechanic who found an internal fracture of an oil leak. The mechanic stated that the transfer case may need to be replaced. The dealer (quirk mazda, 111 mcgrath hwy, quincy, ma 02169, (617) 773-8000) was contacted and indicated that there was no recall campaign to provide a remedy from the manufacturer. The manufacturer was notified and stated that the vehicle was not included in a recall. The vin and failure mileage were not available.

I purchased a 2014 mazda cx nine a year and a half ago. The other day i was driving and i don't know where my fan got really loud so i pulled over and turned up the heat and turned off any ac. All the sun steam started coming out of my engine and the car died. After towing it to the local dealership i was told that i had two options. I could either buy a brand new car or pay $13,000 to have it repaired. Apparently the water pump broke and the engine seized up. I had absolutely no warning. No leaking, no check engine light, nothing' i later found several reviews saying this was an issue with this make & model. I still owe over $16,000 on this car and now i have to get a new car.

The contact owns a 2014 mazda cx-9. Contact stated that while driving at 40 mph, the vehicle decelerated and the steering ceased without warning. The contact depressed the brake pedal which failed to engage. The contact allowed the vehicle to idle with both feet off the pedals which allowed the vehicle to come to a complete stop. The contact turned the vehicle off and back on which resumed to normal vehicle operation for about 2-3 minutes however, the failure recurred. The contact inspected the vehicle for leaks but found none. The contact stated that the coolant bottle was empty. The contact checked the oil which looked milky and dirty. Lee edwards mazda(2218 louisville avenue, monroe, la 71201 (318) 388-3540) was contacted and informed of the failure. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed and determined that the water pump gasket was fractured. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure recurred. The manufacture was not made aware of the failure. The mileage was 70,000.

The water pump failed on the vehicle and coolant leaked into the engine oil. The vehicle all of a sudden started shaking, the engine shut off and the vehicle lost power. The engine is now damaged beyond repair. The vehicle has an internal water pump and the owner's manual does not recommend any maintenance to the water pump. This vehicle had all of the recommended maintenance completed at an authorized mazda dealer, the vehicle was in a parking lot when the engine unexpectedly shut off.while no one was injured when the vehicle lost all power and the engine shut off, it is something that should be looked into.

The contact owns a 2014 mazda cx-9. The contact stated that the dual exhaust muffler, the bolts, the clips, and the assembly were covered with rust. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 800.

Foul sulfur smell in cabin, gas smell odor, smelling gas fumespungent fresh gasoline smell inside the cabin while driving. On the highways, or local roads. It last few minutes when opening the hood rotten eggs smells, the intensity varies, it happen sporadically, i used with different kind of gasoline, also different grade from 93-87. It would be ok for the first 100 miles then the same thing all over again .more noticeable with heat on high in the morning .it is almost the fuel injectionrailing are leaking ,or bad catalytic converter or it could be coming from the transfer case or bad heater core.i took it to the dealership few times , once i was told since it is new ,you need time to age the converter, finally it became unbearable , i took last monday , i was given atsp issued by mazda to recommend changing gas brand every 100 miles which i have been doing , avoid sudden acceleration, which i am aware of , also the recommend avoiding short trips , i guess we are suppose to walk or have a bike inside the mazda to use on short drive.. It seems like it is on going problems with mazda since 2003. And they are insulting the public intelligence with their recommendation where they should come up with remedy to this toxic problem .. I hope your agency investigate this problem and hopefully made mazda do something about it .

When you pump gas into the fuel tank, the gas spews out when the pump stops. The gas flows out down the side of the car.

We were on a city road uphill and driving to a friends home. Our mazda cx-9 grand touring made a rattling noise, released a lot of white smoke, and lost acceleration.i immediately pulled the car on the shoulder and a by passer stopped his car on opposite shoulder and analyzed the situation and shouted move your family out and move from the car since its on fire underneath. We immediately moved out and by passer called 911. All the time while we waited and fire department arrived the car was dripping fire.

Noticed burning smell coming from underside of vehicle and oil-like substance on floor of garage after driving.took to the dealer and was informed that the transfer case failed and was leaking fluid on exhaust system.research indicates this is a known design issue in multiple year models of mazda vehicles and i feel due to the significant fire risk of oil/lubricant dripping onto the exhaust system, this should be subject to a recall.

The driver seat and passenger seat has a clicking noise and has a little play on the back rest while turning around corners at any speed. I am worried during a time of high stress during a fender bender or high impact crash these seats will fail and break.

I purchased the car with 7,000 miles and since the beginning there has been a humming noise every time i turn the steering wheel to either side. I took it to the dealer and they told me it was a piece of plastic stuck to the control arm. The car continued making the noise only audible on a quiet night and now the car has 30,000 and humming is more pronounced day and night with only slight turn angle. The other issue is the drivers seat has a little play, felt during turns.and the last issue is the usb just stopped working

Told by dealer that front discs had excessive corrosion @ approx 15k and two plus years.contacted manufacturer with no assistance offered.

First brakes started failing were soft had to pump them to stop in time as to not hit another vehicle. I took my car to my mechanic. He said we needed to replace the master cylinder. Did this now brakes make a whomp whomp sound and push back some. Was told to drive a few days and see if it gets better. Did this and hubby was driving they were soft again. Then i took car today it was fine until i got home to pick up kids to take them out left car running came in got my kids went back out to car. At this time brakes are now hard and you can't push them down. I put car i'm reverse and car didn't want to move almost like brakes are on safety bake is not on. I took around block to see if it would get better. It didn't in fact i barely made it up a small hill even with my foot to the floor with gas peddle. Got back to my house opened door and you could smell the brakes like they were burnt.will be taking car back to machanic tomorrow. I know there has been problems with other years mine is a 2014 i don't think they have fixed or solved them. My car only has 71,000 miles on it right now. Note when i say car i am meaning suv.my car when it first happened mushy brakes was in motion on road not freeway thank goodness. The second problem was not in motion to begin with then was in motion.

This is a mazda cx9 2014 awd.i needed to stop quickly on a city street in moderate traffic at 3:00pm. I was traveling about 25 mpr north in the inside lane on a dry road. I pushed down on the brake pedal hard and the car did not slow down but, continued on until it impacted with the car in front.the air bag did not deploy and there were no physical injuries to drivers of either involved vehicles.the damage to my car is estimated to be over $2000.00 dollars.i had previously taken this car in to the mazda dealer here in temecula, ca last month because the brakes had been non-responsive but, service dept. Said brakes tested normal.this car only has 11,000 miles on it. I am now scared to drive it as i am 64 years old with no tickets or accidents ever. It is currently at the "auto center auto body" shop being repaired through aaa ins.here in temecula.

Vehicle has 57000 miles had to put intwo master cylinders in two years.auto was in motion and complete loss of brakes.

Our 2014 mazda cx-9 power brake booster has gotten progressively worse over the last few months and has now failed at 75,269 miles where the pedal is spongy, pedal travel is long and there is a hissing noise (air leakage) from the power booster, all resulting in severely reduced brake effectiveness - very little. We cannot safely drive the car. This is the same failure and safety defect that was the subject of odi investigation pe-14-005 (odi closed 2/10/2014) involving 2007-2013 mazda cx-9 vehicles in which the odi resume said "the agency will continue to monitor complaints and other information relating to the alleged defect and take further action in the future if warranted."in that case, in order to avoid a recall, in march 2014 mazda agreed with the nhtsa/odi to extend the warranty for 7 years or 100,000 for the 2007-2013 mazda cx-9 vehicles and repair the condition and initiated special service program ssp93.this now is exactly that same condition but in the next year model - a model 2014 mazda cx-9 manufactured in 2013 that obviously received the defective power brake booster that was manufactured before the booster supplier corrected the faulty booster mold in february 2013.yesterday (4-29-21) mazda said (mazda customer service reference # 1-378914617) our vehicle is not covered for the repair because the nhtsa/odi agreement and ssp93 only applies to 2007-2013 vehicles where ours is a 2014, even though it was manufactured in 2013.this is not only another example of the same problem now existing in 2014 mazda cx-9's with a power booster manufactured before the february 2013 faulty booster mold correction, it is unconscionable for mazda to refuse the repair.please - we need your help in resolving this - and need you to re-open the investigation for the safety of others.thank you.

Paint finish.chips on both front doors from just touching anything with them. Also part of hood is discoloringand it has a rough finish on it.

The contact owns a 2014 mazda cx-9. While driving various speeds, the brake pedal was depressed and a bumping noise was heard from the front suspension. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the ball joint and lower control arm corroded and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was later taken to neil huffman mazda (4926 dixie hwy @102, louisville, ky 40216, phone: (502) 835-8745), but was not diagnosed due to the diagnostic fees. The manufacturer was notified and stated that there were no open recalls. The approximate failure mileage was 46,000.

When making left turn started hearing a squeal and air conditioner shut off then floor board on front passenger side started filling with waterafter looking online, apparently many people have had this issue with their mazda cx9. It is caused by the drain to your air conditioner getting cloggedmultiple videos are online of how to unclog itthis should be a clue to mazda that there is a design flaw took it to dealer and was told it was a maintenance issue no where in my maintenance manual does it say to get air conditioner drain cleanedcost 138 for them to clean it out and caused some damage to blower motorcalled mazda and of coarse got the run aroundonline people are saying they have had to take theirs in multiple times to get unclogged.some having to pay 300 each timethis issue needs to be investigated and fixed
