The dealer stated that it was a coincidence and had nothing to do with the fact that they had just worked on the system. Took car to mazda for airbag recall, replaced airbag but mazda tells me the actual sensor that tells the airbag to deploy does not work and its my responsibility to fix it. Prior to the recall the sensor did not come up on the dash after the recall i now have a light on my dash and mazda is telling me its 700.00 to replace fix and part and labor. Electrical car shorts out all the time, windows, engine, lights work one day not the next when doors open. Car stalls out when driving and system reboots. Other issue is i have spent 7 thousand dollars in repairs on this car. I have black smoke coming out of the tail pipes, ive replaced thousands of dollars in parts. Engine light wont go off. I took it finally to auto zone for a free engine diagnosis to get a print out and now the emissions valves are showing faulty. Its burning 2 quarts of oil about every couple of weeks/monthly basis. Ive replaced motor mounts, coolant/oil parts, air compressor, headlights, bumber, wiper blades, electrical control panels, rocker arms, spoilers that have cracked with weather, the car still needs another motor mount, i now have a knock in the engine like its the lifters and i still have another year on this 5 year loan on this car. I have to keep rolling payments to the back of the loan to keep up with the repairs. Its very frustrating. Ive never had this many problems with any car i have purchased ever!!! even the parts department at mazda has said what do you expect you purchased a plastic car on wheels. Is there any other people experiencing problems besides myself?

Takata recall: its been 6 months, and it's a real hardship with not being able to have front seat passengers in my primary automobile. I am in a carpool to drive my child and neighborhood children to school, and i have not been able to do so without having someone in the front seat.i also received a notice that the front suspension has a safety recall forlower control arms replacement, i received this notice in august with no further communication from mazda or my dealership.i'm disappointed with responses i get to my inquiries from my mazda dealership.

Takata recall and horn and passenger door lock. I took my car in for the suspension recall and air bags to galpin in van nuys ca. I got the car back and the suspension was done but not the passenger air bag.the reason from the mazda service mgr was since my passenger door is broken ( the lock) he could not open the door so he did not work on the air bag.i can not afford the 200.00 that it will take to fix and replace my passenger door lock. I feel that i should have my door fixed by mazda and then do the repair work on the recalled air bag.the door lock just broke on its own and i paid cash for my car brand bmw from galpin. Also i was driving on the freeway and all of a sudden my mazda emblem in the center of the steering wheel blew off and landed in ny lap!! i was not using the horn.i now have no horn and have looked at the fuse and everything else and no one seems to know what happen here.you can see that my mazda emblem is broken all the way around this piece?? someone said that since there is an air bag in the steering wheel i need to buy a new steering wheel? really? i am a senior on my social security retirement ..i am not able to have these problems fixed at hundreds an hundeds of dollars.however if my air bag has a recall and they didn't fix it since my door lock is broken and they couldn't open the door. What would you suggest i do?please contact me with any info you have at [xxx] or email at: [xxx]thank you[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).?

There are several recalls on this vehicle including air bags. We have made several attempts over the years to get any of these done with zero success. The dealership just keeps telling us to come back.our air bag light comes on and goes out all the time. The lights fill with water after washing or if it rain causing the headlights to short out and blow the bulbs.the engine rattles everytime you crank the car and then goes away. We have changed the oil regularly and it still does it.

* engine issues when the a/c compressor locked up. This is a known issue in this make and model. This happened around 36k miles while i was driving on a freeway. We had to coast into the next exit.* engine knocking issues. They still persist and started around 50k miles. * engine resistance. Alongside the knocking there seems to be a good amount of resistance when taking your foot off of the pedal for acceleration. * they added a factory extension to the radio for the ipod. Ever since they installed this, the rest of the electrical components have been overloaded.- headlights go out frequently. This concerns me as my wife drives the car and i wouldn't want both to go out at the same time.- the battery won't hold a charge if not driven for a few days.the dealership acknowledged that the radio has a 'parasitic draw' on the battery causing these issues, but refuses to take responsibility for their installation. Their solution is to charge $800+ for a new head unit, which is outrageous since i never did anything to the factory head unit.

I purchased the 2008 mazda cx7 about 2 weeks ago and already replaced the compressor i first had white smoke coming out the tail pipe well i didn't think anything of it until someone told me that is not normal so a week later i started hearing noises like a diesel truck and a knocking noise so the next day i went to the dealership that sold me the vehicle and we drove the vehicle and he stated it was fine he then drove again and the vehicle locked up and they told me the compressor locked up now i'm hearing a ticking noise from the engine and they stated it was normal but it still concerns me cause reading other statement have me worried that the engine valve will be next and i don't have money to repair a vehicle i'm a single parent of 4 kids.

Mazda cx-7 2008; i purchased the car in september 2007 and it currently has 19,908 miles. The ac is breaking down. While i'm driving on the highway at 65mph, the pressure or high ac air pressure drops and hot air comes out. I also experienced burning smoke coming through the vents. I had the car inspected by the dealerback on august 3, 2012 and they replaced the valve cover.on september 1, 2012 i was driving again on the highway with my family and we experienced the same problem. The ac pressure dropped, hot air was flowing out of the ac and we smelled burning smoke.i took the car to the dealer this morning and they are now advising me that i have to replace the blower fan which is out of warranty (3 years/36k miles) and will cost $500. I have no problems paying for a part, but the valve cover, blower fan, or ac items shouldn't be breaking down at 19k original miles.i asked wayne mazda service consultant: anthony cunhaif the blower fan was part of the ac compressor and he said, "no".i strongly feel that mazda installed faulty ac compressor/units on the 2008 cx-7. This issue has to be investigated before a car catches on fire and people get burned alive or worse, a multiple car crash on the road resulting in deaths.

The oil light and engine light on my car came on the evening of june 8, 2010, and stalled immediately. That night i poured 5 quarts of oil into my engine. The fault was eventually discovered to be a missing gasket at the oil filter cap which allowed oil to seep out of the car nonstop since my last oil change. I do not understand why the oil light only came on after there was virtually no oil left in the car. If i had been on a highway at the time, i would have had almost no warning before my engine died out on me. Now, the entire engine has to be replaced because it ran for 2 miles with oil.

This mazda cx-7 is at a mazda dealer's service center right now getting the timing chain replaced, vvt issue corrected, a new turbo system to keep it from dumping tons of blue smoke from the exhaust, a/c system fixed, and there is an intermittent electrical issue as well.not happy obviously, as these are all know issues with the vehicle.mazda has agreed to pay for the timing chain, but the rest comes out of my pocket.

Car had been sitting in the driveway for 2 full days with no use. I walked outside to place trash in trash bin and noticed smoke coming from the drivers door. I quickly ran inside, grabbed fire extinguisher and put out the fire.it looks like the fire originated at the window motor or the window switch panel on the drivers side door.

I was driving my car close to home and i was traveling at a speed of about 30 mph.i heard a few taps and then turned off the heating/air conditioning.as i pulled into my driveway, the noise resumed and a burning electrical smell started and actually the smell remained the entire night.i had it towed the next day to my local automotive repair place and as it currently stands the clutch burned up in the compressor and the car is not drivable.i called the dealership, russel, in baltimore and asked if there had been these problems and i was told no.i have since read many stories that are about the same.

On the mazda cx7 the dash instruments are almost impossible to see if anyoneis wearing sunglasses. Mazda apparently is alert to this as on the most expensive cx7 all the instrument lights are illuminated. This creates an impossible situation in trying to gauge even your speed. I own a cx7 , in florida where you must wear sun glasses, and have been warned about speed. Mazda seems to hold this as an upgrade, which is not right.

I tried to call a dealer at mazda but they do not call me back for the recall. I will try again but i think they going to charged me. I can't afford it. How can you help me please? i can't drive at night because the front light has fog inside and i can't barely see. I can't stop quick because the break are bad and trembling the whole car including the wheel.the air bags on the computer signal is on all the time as well for the light. The breaks are really bad !most of the time on the highway. It is an unsafe car. System is not reliable. I want to get ride of this dangerous car asap.

Ac failed on long trip. Temp gauge did not indicate overheating, no warning lights were lit up. After arriving at destination 5 hours from home, turned off engine and saw smoke coming from rt front hood area near wheel.tried to start, not turning over. Added coolant to over flow (it was empty). Still not starting. No mazda dealer open in area (closest one was 45 miles south in ft wayne. Time was approx 2pm on saturday.enterprise rent a car also not open except airport locations (they are open 8-12 on sats). Knew there was a w-mart nearby w/ auto service. Our vehicle is parked in large mcdonald's lot near the back out of the way, relatively safe location...clld and spoke w/ [xxx]at wal-mart. He offered to come look at the car after work-w/in 15 min he was there. Because engine not turning over, he at first was concerned engine may have seized up/head gasket blew etc. He isolated the ac clutch as the problem by manually turning over the engine and then taking belt off completely. Started right up...he then proceeded to drive us to airport in ft wayne, had our car towed to his repair shop, accessed the problem area and advised me what part to order.the man is a saint.we spent 4 hours at airport until enterprise took mercy on us and rented us a car even though i only have a debit visa.part has been ordered from dealer where we purch car.they matched price online of $289.01 and shipping to indiana is only $12 will arrive by end of day tomorrow. Not sure what labor cost will be.unable to order only clutch from mazda. Don't need pump but will have extra in case it fails in the future.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Mazda cx-7 recall 9716h.rcvd recall notice in 10/2016 but no further notices & told in notice that parts were not available to correct the dangerous recall.had no idea how disastrous this problem could be.driving my cx-7 on old willets path, smithtown, ny on 2/3/17 @ approx. 6:30pm with my 4 children in the car, traveling less than 35 mph when the right wheel came off the axle of the car.the wheel was the right side passenger side of car.the car then began to turn into oncoming traffic as a result of losing control of the car. Cars had to move out of my way as it was almost out of control. I feared for the life of myself and my 4 kids in the car. Thankfully i was able to luckily gain control of the car due to my 30+ yrsexperience as a driver and force the car onto the shoulder of the right side of the road, sliding into dirt. The car skidded approx 75 feet on pavement. (photos attached) the cause of the accident was diagnosed by my mechanic as the ball joint and lower control arm of the car completely snapping/ breaking caused by erosion/corrosion, which is exactly what the recall is for. Car was towed as was not drivable. The tire cause damage to the axle wheel, and other parts of the car and engine as described by smith haven mazda, where car is currently being repaired. Had i been traveling at a higher rate of speed, this could have been a deadly matter and myself and 4 children could have been killed.i am so upset that mazda did not immediately notify their customers to completely stop using these cars due to the dangerous risk of death/crash. I no longer want to be an owner of this mazda and want to ditch this car for fear of what could have happened to my family; unacceptable safety notification by mazda. Had myself or children been killed or hurt, i would be suing mazda. Will mazda consider offering me any compensation on trading/selling this car?

There are several recalls on this vehicle including air bags. We have made several attempts over the years to get any of these done with zero success. The dealership just keeps telling us to come back.our air bag light comes on and goes out all the time. The lights fill with water after washing or if it rain causing the headlights to short out and blow the bulbs.the engine rattles everytime you crank the car and then goes away. We have changed the oil regularly and it still does it.

The gasket on the oil coolers on these cars are defective. I have an oil leak from this gasket that puts me at risk for an engine blowout. I will have to replace the entire oil cooler at a cost of $500+ because the gasket can't be purchased separately. Mazda needs to take responsibility for this before people get stranded on the road. If you search this oil leak online, you find dozens of posts about this happening to other cx-7 owners. This is a crossover suv geared towards families. I drive my kids around in it and now am very concerned about the safety of this car.

The contact owns a 2008 mazda cx7. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked and unoccupied, oil was leaking from the engine compartment. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnosis. The engine oil cooler and engine cover were both repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The failure mileage was unavailable. ...updated 04-22-14 the consumer stated the timing chain and vvt actuator was a recall item. The vehicle had not been repaired. Updated 04/28/2014

As i was driving my mazda ( with a turbo engine) along the highway it began to decelerate on its own and making a loud knocking/grinding noise. It stopped on the road going up a hill with no turnouts. So it appears that the turbo blew up. It will start, but i cannot go anywhere. I have also had to replace gaskets on my oil filter housing unit, as the stock gaskets were faulty and causing a severe oil leak. Also, my emissions regulation ( egr) valve is bad and therefore will not pass smog. Each of these issues i am seeing more and more complaints about from other owners of the same vehicle. Mazda has made a horribly defective car and refuses to do anything about it except to claim owner negligence. I bought my car with 40k miles on it and it has been falling apart from the start. There is absolutely no excuse and this is not owner negligence, it is mazda negligence and refusal to make anything right on their completely defective vehicles.

The vehicle is a 2008 mazda cx-7 bought as a pre-owned certified from mazda dealer in ramsey, nj. It had the engine light on and i took it immediately to the dealer near my work (colmar, pa) and it was diagnosed with code p0401, egr valve failure. With under 40k i was not expecting this to fail and the repair cost was $718. (diagnosis, parts and labor). I looked up online and saw that it is a frequent issue with people having much newer car than mine. Obviously it was not covered under warranty and i had to pay from my pocket. But i am disappointed with the repair as the next day the brake light came on. It comes on in the morning and stays on intermittently. It finally goes away after 15-20 minutes of driving. I plan to go to the dealer tomorrow to see if this is something that resulted during yesterday's repair.

While traveling at 45mph, experienced sudden loss of power.cel came on and trouble p3001 was the code display on handheld reader.car is out of warranty, dealer states several components within engine have failed and mazda has no responsibility over failures since i do not have an extended warranty. I have researched the problem production years 2007 and 2008 are plagued with premature engine failure.

Vvt and timing chain noise and heavy engine rattle at start up, 72,000 miles on vehicle mazda refuses any kind of warranty on engine.

The contact owns a 2008 mazda cx-7. While driving 10 mph, the vehicle began to decelerate and all the warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact stated that the engine stalled. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the failure could not be determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

Timing chain went out . Mazda is trying to say it sludge from poor maintenance . Even though we have all receipts since we owned it for oil changes. We just purchase this cx7 in august of 2012 with almost 28000 miles.now a year later and 40000 miles it needs a motor.

The contact owns a 2008 mazda cx7. The contact stated while driving at an unknown speed, several unknown warning lights illuminated and the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The contact stated that her spouse diagnosed the failure as a mass air flow sensor failure. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer for repairs nor was it diagnosed by a dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure however, there was no assistance provided. The approximate failure mileage was 154,000.

I want to implore you to make mazda recall this make/model, with them knowing they have a faulty vvt/timing chain issue, that has affected hundreds,if not thousands of car owners, putting their safety at risk. I have not myself, had the issues yet, that are well documented, but unfortunately i did purchase this car, and it is unbelievable that mazda will not fix this problem.

The contact owns a 2008 mazda cx-7. The contact stated that white smoke emitted from the tail pipe. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated that the failure was due to poor maintenance and that the turbo needed to be replaced. The contact also mentioned that the failure was previously experienced. The technician also stated that there was a blown head gasket. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted about the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 81,000.updated 12/31/13the dealer informed the consumer the turbo failed due lack of maintenance and not enough oil changes.

There was a knocking almost as if the car was a diesel, brought the car to milford mazda in milford ct after purchasing the vehicle a month earlier at bobs in milford ct.the mazda dealer replaced the vvtdecember 2012 the service engine light goes on and i take it to the local garage and they get a code for camshaft, i bring the car to mazda who tells me upon arrival with out even looking at the vehicle that i need a new engine and it wouldn't be covered under my extended warranty because they are sure there is sludge in the engine, yea same story everyone else gets.i faithfully had my oil changed every 5,0000 miles max as this was drilled in my head growing up from my dad.approximately some time in march i was driving to work i get this loud whining sound coming from the engine and the car loses all power the turbo went.i have a new turbo installed and still supposedly need another vvt just 2 years after they replaced this part and now there is a humming/whining noise coming from the rear of the car not to mention (2) tie rods are bad.this car is no doubt a piece of crap that i still owe 13k on and mazda corporate will not even return my call.there has to be something that can be done with all the same complaints.

Check engine light came on took it to dealer...egr value needed to be replaced...warranty was expired. About $700 or part...wondering if there is recall on part. Reading forum and seems to be a problem with others.

Car had severe oil leak found during an oil change with no oil left in the car; however there was never oil on the ground - i park in the garage.i took the car to the dealer for a diagnostic test, they did the dye test and found the leak near the oil cooler from the seal/gasket.this is a very expensive part and it appears to be very common after 80k miles from my searches online.please investigate as this is very unsafe and needs to be addressed.

Purchased vehicle used at 41,000 in mar 2012. First issue: egr valve had to be replaced at 44,000 miles in may 2012, not covered under warranty ("not a california emissions vehicle"). Had 45,000 mile service performed. Dealership service tech also provided service history from previous owner and verified it was serviced regularly. Service tech confirmed this was a known issue with the vehicle, but it was not covered under warranty unless it was a ca emission vehicle. Also not covered under aul extended warranty purchased with vehicle. Cost: $750 to replace egr.second issue: dec 2012, 52,000 miles, driving for less than a mile in congested traffic at 15-20mph. Vehicle began spewing white smoke out of exhaust. Immediately pulled off road, called for tow truck. Waited 3 hours with two children under 8...vehicle was taken to same dealership for evaluation/repair. I asked them to evaluate turbo, based on white smoke and slow driving/idle, as consistent with other known issues. Was informed engine mount 3 filled with oil, which coated underside of vehicle, causing smoke. Engine mount failure covered under 60,000 mile factory warranty. Service technician indicated they haven't seen this issue before (however, i see it in several posts online). Service technician commented i was lucky that this did not result in a more catastrophic event (fire, total engine failure). He also commented there is "a lot of stress on mount #3" and it was hard to find the replacement part. He acknowledged turbo issues, but claims my turbo is okay (for now).mazda needs to recall and fix these well known and documented engine issues (egr valve, engine mounts, turbo chargers, compressors) before there is further loss of vehicles/life. At a minimum, extend the warranty to cover beyond 60,000 miles when so many known issues exist. It will be cheaper than the class action lawsuit underway.

The contact owns a 2008 mazda cx7. The contact stated that the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and a diagnostic was performed. The failure was located as the emissions gas recirculation valve. The dealer replaced the egr valve and the failure was repaired. The failure and current mileage was 66,600.

My mazda cx7 - 2008 has only 44,000 miles and the engine light went one and after bringing it to a mechanic and checking the codes with a computer, it came up that the egr valve needs to be replaced. All the mechanics that i talked with were really surprise and asked me if the mazda cx7 - 2008 has a recall on the egv valve because it is not normal that with that little miles the egr valve need to be replaced. I have checked on the internet and i'm seeing many other owners that are having the same issue. I think there is a factory defect with the egr valve for this model.

I already have a complaint but i forgot to add that my airbag light is on and won't come off along with my engine light it won't even crank since we broke down in the middle of highway because idh the money to get it fixed and trying to ask for a ride everyday! thank you so much

After bringing to mazda for takata inflator recall, and lower rocker arms recall, i was told my timing chain should be replaced at a cost of $1300 plus tax!!! a mazda tech. Said he knew for sure that was the issue just from listening to the noise.my how knowledgeable for a guess.i started researching this, and see that a class action suit was filed in 2012 regarding this issue, and it went no further. I would like to know if i can get further information regarding this issue and if mazda will pick up this bill. I see a huge amount of folks have complained about this issue and the vvt also, and mazda has done nothing.i would like to pursue this issue further.can you help, or direct me on how to do so? i have taken very good care of this vehicle that i have had from new and now all of a sudden it needs a $1300 plus repair? i am dissapionted in mazda after reading the complaints, the danger this issue could cause, and the fact they dont care.

Mazda got stuck and had no power the first time second time happened october 9,2013 car kept shutting off and finally could not move. Turbo once again twice in 5 months and i only had this pre-owned vehicle for 7 months.

The oil cooler on my 2008 mazda cx-7 began leaking around the rubber o-ring a few weeks ago.my mechanic called ferman mazda in brandon, fl to get a replacement and was advised by the service department that the old style oil cooler had problems and mazda re-designed a new one,and now mazda owners have to spend over $400 to buy a new one because the rubber gasket and oil cooler are not manufactured anymore.oil has covered my engine and the plastic engine cover underneath the vehicle.the heat from the engine can cause a fire if it sprays up near the plugs/starter.there is an obvious problem with the oil cooler, however ferman mazda does nothing to fix the problem for their customers.

First the turbo went out and now the engine!!!

I got a recall on the air bas but the engine went up first couple weeks i had it

On sunday, january 4, 2015, i was driving my 2008 mazda cx-7 and i stopped at a stoplight. When i tried to take off when the light turned green, my car hesitated and when i pressed on the gas peddle a little more, it still hesitated then finally took off. All of a sudden, i heard an extremely loud popping noise, and then thick, heavy white smoke started to come out of the tailpipe. The white smoke then started flowing out from under the hood, and it started to come into the car through the air vents. When i tried to pull over and put the car in park, it wouldn't shift into gear, so i pushed the parking break, and it finally stopped. I got out of the car and when i went to grab my purse, i saw fire coming through the bottom air vents ( the ones that blow air on your feet) so i grabbed my purse as quickly as i could, and ran away from the car. Then, i saw part of the engine fall out of the bottom of the car, on fire, and burn into the street. About 5 seconds later, the whole entire car burst into flames. All of the doors were closed, but the intensity of the fire blew both of the passenger side doors open, and blew out all of the windows (including the sunroof, which was closed at the time). When the firefighters finally put the fire out, the car was still smoldering and everything inside was melted. The steering wheel, the seats, the door handles, the mirrors, everything. The fire was so strong that it blew the hood back onto the windshield. All that is left of the car, is just the metal frame, and the engine. The car has a 4 cylinder engine with a turbo feature on it. I believe thatis what caused the fire and made the loud popping sound initially.

The contact owns a 2008 mazda cx-7. While driving approximately 40 mph, the contact heard a loud grinding noise outside of the vehicle and blue smoke emitted from the exhaust pipe. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who stated the failure was contributed to engine sludge. The technician advised that the engine be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 50,835. The vin was unavailable.

I bought the car at 30k miles in november of 2011.i have since driven 15k miles on it.i noticed a click in the engine.i took it to the dealership where they proceeded to tell me that everything was fine and i needed to get a 45k mile maintenance on it.i told them the clicking was bothering me.they said that was fine.i got the car back and the noise appeared to have gone... But reappeared after a few days.i went back to the dealership and told them that a car under 5 years old with less than 50k miles on it shouldn't make that noise.they finally admitted there was a problem with the timing chain, causing a leak in the oil which put sludge in the engine.they told me it was my fault etc.i proceeded to look online and there were thousands of other people with the same problem.from the research i have done, they aren't even making the car anymore and i'm sure it's due to these same engine problems.my dealership told me it was my fault... And the other people on http://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/direct/view/.f1826a6/0 had the exact same problem.i hope someone does something about this!the dealership tried to switch out the car saying that they were trying to help... And after driving it for 10 minutes... I told them the beginning noise was in this car as well.he acted aloof and said he didn't hear it... Until we were back at the dealership.then he said... 'oh ... I hear it now'they need to do a full recall of this car.working so hard to finally be able to get a car makes you so happy... But to get ripped off in the end.... It's awful.i feel completely vulnerable and it's terrible.thanks for even having this website... Hopefully we can get this car off the market!

Sudden loss of power as the turbo stopped working. The mazda dealership claimed that the turbo broke due to sludge in the engine. There was a lot of sludge in the engine, however, the car was well maintained with regular oil changes. It seems that the median engine temperature is hotter than is appropriate for the specified oil in the owners manual. This results in oil burning and sticking to the inside of the engine. Eventually a piece of "sludge" will come loose and clog the oil tube to the turbo, resulting in the turbo unit overheating and breaking.mazda seems to be aware of this problem as they were pressured to extend the warranty on this part. However, the problem is very serious and there should be a recall of the turbo unit and clarification in the owner's manual. Mazda has yet to agree to fix the turbo and "sludge" in my engine. They are still insisting that i did not maintain the vehicle well. Fyi- i was a car designer with honda/acura for 4 years who designed the 2009 - 2012 mdx. I am stating this because i know suv's and how to maintain them very well.

I have white smoke coming out of my tailpipe when it idles. I also have a burning oil smell in my car. I have to roll down the windows when i get into my car. I have a 2 1/2 year old and i cant imagine its safe for her to breath this in. I took it to green mazda in springfield il to be repaired, this is a known issue with this vehicle. They installed a ventilation kit. That did not solve the problem. I took it back and now they say there is no problem. So they saw a problem and installed a ventilation kit but now that is doing the same thing there is not a problem. The next step is to replace the turbo, which they will not do. This should be a safety recall.

The oil cooler above the filter is leaking very bad, and i need to replace the gasket, but i had no prior leaks before and it was hard to start my vehicle. You can't just buy the gasket for the cooler, unless it's the newer silver oil cooler, the part alone is at least $400, but there seems to a frequent issue of this with many others, on the 2008 mazda cx-7.

Earlier that day i got my oil changed on my lunch break at work. I drive back to work my car sits in the parking lot and i leave a few hours later well my car it was making a really loud noise it sounded like a helicopter i live about 30 miles away so i figured if i drive slow enough i might be able to make it home. As i was going up a hill the car start to decelerate so im like ok maybe i need to go slower no i get up over the hill and am going down the hill and the car just dies there on the side of the road. I get it towed to mazda the next day because i find out i have a powertrain warrenty until 60,000 miles i only have 54,000 miles on it so they tow it under my roadside assistance. Now my car has been there for a month and come to find out my timing chain went on it causing a domino effect on it and making the engine go. Now the dealership wants 8 grand to fix my car because mazda denied my claim due to "engine sludge" which at this low of miles and me performing regular oil changes they considered "lack of maintance" because i couldnt prove it.

While on a freeway off-ramp car started to idle irregularly accompanied by white smoke and a loud whining noise. Identified problem as a/c compressor. Turned off air conditioning; smoke and whining seemed to stop, and i was able to drive it the 15 miles to my mechanic.

There was blue smoke in 2013 and the engine oil had been burned to nearly empty.it was fixed with my own pocket but in happen again. Fyi, the first time it happened at almost 40,000 miles and right now is 62000miles. Right now there is a problem of the power steering pump which may out of control when it makes turn. I read anticle say that mazda will recall cx 7 including year 2008. When i call them today they said no such kind of recall. I read a lots of article complaining mazda cx-7 regarding of these two issue. Hope your department can follow up to protect consumer. Also when the car runs in highway of fast enough there's no smoke but when it runs slow the smoke come out tremendously. Thanks.

Vehicle started making a loud whining noise while driving at 55mph. White smoke started pouring out of rear end. We thought the car was on fire. It then wouldn't get over 20mph. Pulled over and called a tow truck.

The contact owns a 2008 mazda cx-7. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the turbo charger and the engine needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure and current mileage was 100,262.

The contact owns a 2008 mazda cx-7. The contact stated that while driving 25 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact pulled over and had the vehicle towed to a dealer. The dealer performed a diagnostic test which determined that oil sludge was in the turbo lines. The dealer advised the contact that the turbo malfunctioned and needed be replaced. The dealer did not state how the oil entered the turbo lines. No repairs were performed on the vehicle. The failure mileage was 54,445.

I was driving down the highway and suddenly i hear a loud noise sounded like i was in a big rig truck then all of a sudden it started to overheat b4 i could pull off of highway it cut off right in the highway i had my grandson with me and thank goodness there was not a lot of traffic or we probably would've been dead

I write to express my disappointment at the quality of vehicles mazda is putting out, and the lack of response mazda's customer service department offers its customers. In 2008 i bought a 2008 mazda cx7 and this car has given me nothing but problems. From the faulty wiring that always blows out the headlights, to the power windows which sometimes turn off and turn on, to the exhaust fumes that can be smelt inside the car, i've complained about all of it and spent countless resources and time trying to fix it all. The last straw came about a month ago when i was informed that my vvt adjuster and chain were out, the turbo was out and the engine was failing and it would cost me close to $4,000 to repair it. We're talking about a car with only 75,000 miles. According to my mechanic and according to edmunds.com reviews these are all common cx-7 problems and mazda just won't own up to them.

The contact owns a 2008 mazda cx-7. The contact stated that while driving 20 mph, the vehicle made a popping sound and white smoke emitted from the rear of the vehicle. The contact mentioned that the vehicle stalled immediately after. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that there was hole in the piston caused by the turbo charger. As a result, the engine needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was not available. The failure and current mileage was 78,000.

Purchased my 2008 mazda cx7 brand new 12/08/2008. Started noticing white smoke coming out of the tail pipes while idling and i lived in south florida at the time. Dealership stated that the car was leaking oil and they wanted to fix the problem by putting in oil that would cost over $100 per oil change. After putting in the oil the problem continued. Took the car to the dealership again and they then stated that the only fix would be to replace the turbo and that i had to contact corporate to get it fixed. After speaking with corporate the turbo was replaced, but i am now having white smoke coming from the back of the car again and i am at 45,500 miles. This is a problem that i see listed often on this site and with some cars starting on fire. I hope that would not happen, but if mazda has changed the turbo due to this problem in newer models a recall should be looked at to keep the problem from occurring.

The contact owns a 2008 mazda cx-7. The contact stated that the check engine warning lamp was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic who diagnosed that the egr valve was defective and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance since the vehicle was no longer under warranty. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 45,900 and the current mileage was 46,000.

Mazda has a bulletin out to mechanics about cx-7'd timing chain. The timing chain problem could cease an engine on a highway and cause saftey hazards. Mazda is also refusing repairs on my timing chain because i cannot produce the paperwork for my oil changes. I even have a 70,000 mile warranty which was extended because of the timing chain problems. I even called my bank to get statements proving payment in the same amount for the place i get my oil changes done, which mazda has a couple copies of, but they refused bank statements. This is horrible business practice and us, consumers should be protected against this. My car has 65,000 miles and i'm still making car payments. I can guarentee i will never buy another mazda and will tell everyone i knnow and post it on every site i can.

The ac in this vehicle has always under performed. It did not get really cold and had to be run on the high setting constantly.just last week the compressor failed completely.

2008 mazda cx-7 a/c compressor failuresending sparks out from unit, inside engine bay.

Mazda cx7- turbo engine failure. Excessive oil consumption and burning oil lead to turbo failure and ceased engine. June 30, 2010. Had to pay $10,000 to replace engine and other major parts in suv.mazda blamed customer although there are 100's of complaints regarding this very issue whereas the customer was ultimately blamed. It is well documented about the excessive engine oil consumption and engine ceasing on these vehicle. Each complaint has the same problems and end results. Customer is blamed for lack of oil changes and therefore blamed on the failure of this vehicle.i eventually had all of my oil change certificates and was told by mazda they do not honor hand written receipts. Mazda only wanted computerized receipts. All of my maintenance was done by mechanics that have a combined 50 years in business .that was not good enough for them. There fore i had to pay this huge bill to get my vehicle back.

Purchasedvehicle in 1/2008.2008 mazda cx-7 we took a trip from salt lake city, ut to las vegas, nv the weekend of may 1-3, 208. Check engine light came on, along with the at light when we climbed any sort of a hill on i-15 i made an appointment on may 4ththe mazda dealership (d. Dahle mazda salt lake city) did the repairs when i picked up the vehicle, transmission was reprogrammed because the shift points were not correct. Mileage out was 10408 on 5/18/09 my wife was driving south on i-15 when the check engine and at lights came on again just north of mile marker 185. Smoke was coming out of the vents when she pulledover. Witnesses ran up to the car yelling for her to get out, the car was on fire. Drivers area was fully engulfed. Although she was not injured (thank god) it was a narrow escape according to witnesses contacted mazda road side service they contacted steele towing. Flagged down two semi drivers, they got out there fire extinguishers and discharged them the vehicle became fully engulfed, and ended up having an explosion uhp arrived on scene (trooper derek spencer badge # 341 ) local fire arrived. Two fire trucks attempted to extinguish, vehicle was totally destroyed. Vehicle was towed to steele towing in nephi, ut met steele towing at 8:00 a.m. Next morning before the vehicle was taken to d. Dahle mazda in salt lake city close to 200 photographs of the vehicle and spoke with the towing company. Contacted rob meyer general manager during our drive home. All he would say to us is 'to contact our insurance company'. This is not an insurance issue. This is a faulty vehicle, a dealership, and auto manufacturer that will not honor the warranty and keeps directing us to contact our insurance company.i do not want to see this happen to another person.. This is of great concern towards consumers, vehicle safety and the unwillingness of the manufacturer in regard the safety of the public. Much more documentation, photographs.

One morning the check engine light turn on, the computer code came back as egr val,i have had this vehicle for over 3yrs this is a pricey part, i have read about this and a lot of people have experience this as soon as they reach the 62k miles this is ridiculous. I hope this has nothing to do with a noise that the engine have ever since o bought it which the said it was normal... As per the tires i had to replace them as soon as i reached the 1 yr, never will i buy a mazda again....

2008 mazda cx7, a/c compressor locked up,bought it brand new from dealer and only at 14,500 miles it locks up on me.

On september 22, 2011 our 2008 mazda cx-7 experienced a complete engine failure.this failure occurred without any warning while driving on a freeway: the engine had not previously experienced any problems or made any unusual noises, no indicator lights had signaled a problem, and we had made oil and oil filter changes in accordance with the maintenance schedule.the failure created an extremely dangerous situation, as the car lost power and this meant that several critical functions, most notably, the steering, were severely compromised; the driver only just managed to bring the car to a safe stop. The mazda service center examined the engine of the car on september 26 and reported that the piston in the number 2 cylinder had failed damaging the engine beyond repair.the service manager verified our maintenance records and indicated that the engine was free of sludge or other build up.

Air conditioning began blowing hot air.many complaints logged online for this year vehicle having the same issue.contacted the dealership to find the warranty has expired 3 weeks prior to this issue.recommendation was to contact mazda customer satisfaction.they provided a file number and informed i needed to have the dealership confirm the issue was the compressor.the dealership did confirm the compressor and belt need replaced.contacted the customer satisfaction number back and the appeal/complain process began to see if they would provide financial assistance in replacing the compressor and belt since the warranty had just expired and only has 28,000 miles.was informed 2 days later that the decision was that they would not provide any assistance since it is out of the warranty period.very discouraged that a corporation would not stand behind they vehicle under these circumstances and the fact that they know this vehicle has these issues.i could understand if the vehicle had 60,000 miles but this is very disappointing.

The contact owns a 2008 mazda cx-7.the contact was driving approximately 45 mph when the engine began to exhibit an unusual squealing noise and stalled. The dealer advised there was excessive engine oil sludge buildup and the engine would need to be replaced.the vehicle was not repaired.the vin was not available. The current and failure mileage was 36,800.

The air conditioning unit on my 2008 mazda cx-7 cracked, causing the pulley assembly to freeze up.as a result, the pulley no longer turned on the serpentine belt and made a loud noise, and the air conditioner failed to work.the car was immediately brought to the nearest mazda dealer who diagnosed the problem and advised me not to drive the car, out of concern that damage to the belt might occur.in reviewing my files later, i found an august 2010 notice from mazda advising me that the model year of my car might have this problem, and that the warranty coverage would be extended to 5 years or 60,000 miles.it further stated that no action should be taken unless i was experiencing an issue with this component of my car, which i wasn't at that time.unfortunately, my problem did not emerge until now, and is not covered by this warranty extension since i now have 75000 miles on my car.however, air conditioner units normally do not fail on cars of this age and the notice from mazda makes it clear that they are aware of this problem.i feel that mazda should do the right thing and cover the cost of replacing the air conditioning unit in my car.

Had to replace the a/c compressor that went bad, was a recall on them but my warranty was out.then now 11/8/13 i am being told that my egr valve is bad and needs to be replaced and it so happens guess what the emissions warranty has ran out.i have seen a lot of complaints on line about the a/c compressor and now the egr valve.

I purchased a mazda cx-7 new in 2008. I recently experience total engine failure while riding on the highway with my daughter. The mazda dealer looked at the vehicle and contacted the warranty company and mazda on this issue, mazda stated there was "sludge" in the engine and that was not covered by the warranty.they stated this must've been caused by owner maintenance, however, i have maintained the car as stated in the manual. The company stated we need to produce copies of all of our oil changes since purchase of the vehicle and the dates/mileage at the oil change. We did not have this information, however many complainants who have produced the oil change history are still denied warranty claims. This issue of sludge is not only causes by the owner, but also caused by manufactured defects as in the toyota case. Many other mazda owners and mechanics have stated the turbo charging in the new mazda cx-7 has started to "cook" the oil too fast and this causes the sludge in the engine, however mazda will not own up to this defect and honor the warranty and this vehicle. There have also been sited issues of the timing chain causing engine failure however mazda would not look at any other issues. My vehicle is still under the 60,000 mile warranty and a defect of the engine going out should be covered. Mazda is illegally making the allegation about the owners of the vehicle causing the engine failure in a car only two years old, only to not be responsible for a problem it has caused. Please help me and other mazda owners correct this issue. There are currently multiple complaints against mazda and many vehicle owners such as myself are without a vehicle while in litigation with this issue. The repairs would cost over $7000. I have also copied and pasted the forum in which over 100 people have discussed this exact trend in their vehicles and mazda being less than willing to further assist with this issue. On my way to work i glanced in my rearview mirror and noticed white smoke coming out from behind my car.i looked at my gauges and noticed that my battery light was on and my temperature gauge was all the way on hot.pulled to the side of the road and, as i pulled over my engine light came on and my power steering went out.i shut off the car and called my husband (who owns a collision repair shop and a tow truck) and told him to come and get me and my disabled car.as i sat in my car waiting, a police officer came to check that i was o.k.the officer sat in his car behind me for about 10 minutes and then backed out and left. Within a few minutes of the officer leaving a gentleman and his wife pulled over a good way up in front of my car.the gentleman got out of his car and started running to me shouting get out, get out, your car is on fire!?the gentleman called 911 to summon the fire department.as we waited for the fire department a highway patrol assistance vehicle pulled over because they had a fire extinguisher. My husband arrived and took the car back to his place of business.our insurance was company was called and they sent a claims adjuster out to assess the damage.our claims adjuster determined that the fire had started with the air conditioner and had caused $3,900.00 in damage to the mechanicals of the car.

Egr valve failure on a 2008 mazda cx-7 with 47,500 miles. I had never heard of a egr valve before my check engine light came on and i took it to the local auto parts store to have them tell me the error code.took it to the dealership and they told me that the warranty for the part was 60months/60,000 miles. While i was way under on the miles, i was 5 months over on the time. Since this was my 3rd trip into the dealership over the past 5 months dealing with problems/maintenance with my cx-7, i asked why this particular part failed. I was told that it was due to the negative effects of ethanol. After some quick research, it is clear that 2007-2008 mazda cx-7 has serious problems with the egr valve. It will cost me $650 to fix. Mazda should have been forced to recall this part since it looks like it was defective from the start. Was told that a new replacement part for the egr valve would be put into the vehicle which will not break due to presence of ethanol in gas.

The check engine light came on so i took it to the dealership.turns out the timing chain, gaskets, lock, and bolt, oil pan gasket, and egr valve need to be replaced.the car only has 37,437 miles on it.to have major engine problems is ridiculously unsafe.mazda has many cases with these same issues and yet has not issued a recall.even with the warranty covering engine parts/labor it's absurd! they need to be held responsible for selling lemons to the public.

Mazda using the wrong oil.recently had the oil changed in my 2008 mazda cx-7.when i drove it off the lot the carsmoked like crazy.they said they were using the wrong oil so they replaced it with 5w-30 instead of 5w-20.then car continued to smoke. So next day they put 5w-40 in it.the oil is leaking into the turbo creating a fire hazard.

I was driving at about 25mph when i noticed a burning smell. I pulled over and popped the hood and saw smoke coming from the ac compressor. It turns out that this is common for this model. Mazda extended the warranty but of course mine expired this year. It's just a shame that my car has less then 40k miles and mazda has acknowledged this is an inferior part, but wont help cover the cost. There are hundreds of reports of this part failing and breaking the serpentine belt causing the car to lose all power. This should absolutely be a recall. Imagine this happening while on a highway or turning at an intersection.

Sudden ac clutch/compressor failure with 29000 miles on vehicle.didn't notice until we stopped at a scenic overlook off i 75 in tn and had heavy white smoke from under the hood w/ a grinding bearing noise.repaired under warranty, but not sure if w/ an updated part(s).research shows that this is a very common problem w/ this vehicle.

I was traveling in valencia on the 5 freeway and the interior of my 2008 mazda cx-7 filled with smoke to the point where i found it difficult to drive. I pulled to the exit (magic mountain pkwy) and pulled to the side turning off the engine.after several minutes i lifted the hood to find that the engine was still smoking around the belt area. I was able to get the car to firestone newhall, ca where they are still looking at it.very dangerous situation. The ac compressor seized causing the belt to fire and almost catch fire.after further research i have found that this is a common and dangerous problem with this make and model.

I had smoke coming from under the hood.ac compressor was burning up, and entire ac system needed to be replaced, only for the ac to stop outputting cool air on hot days unless i'm driving over 55 mph.

I was driving my 2008 mazda cx-7 from baytown, texas to killeen, texas when i noticed that the air conditioning stopped working.approximately 3-5 miles later white smoke billowed from under the hood and my steering locked.because there was no suitable terrain on the right and because i was steering around a right-turn, i was forced to pull to the left.because of the smoke and the distraction caused by the incident, i did not realize that there was a semi-truck heading towards me in the other lane.if it wasn't for the adept handling of the truck drive, i would have surely gone head on and i would have been killed.i was towed to bryan, texas where the vehicle was repaired after a whole day in the shop.they repaired the air conditioning compressor, an engine mount, a pulley i believe and some other miscellaneous items to the tune of over $1,400.i was extremely upset when i found out it was a common problem...one that nearly caused me my life.i have two small children that drive with me extremely frequently and i find it hard to believe that nothing s being done about mazda placing people in danger like this.

On 6/17/09, my 2008 mazda cx-7 erupted in smoke while i was driving with my 1 & 3 year old. I was terrified it would catch on fire & luckily was able to get my boys and i out safely off the freeway. Herzog meier mazda in beaverton, or confirmed it was the ac compressor that caused the vehicle to break down. The estimate to fix was $2400.i decided to go online & do research. I was outraged by what i discovered. There are endless amounts of cx7 owners who also had issues with the a/c compressor most with less mileage than my vehicle. I called mazda to file a complaint today. Mazda should acknowledge this error & do a recall.

I was driving to my destination when the a/c stopped working and i smelled/saw smoke coming from underneath my vehicle.the vehicle was taken to the nearest mechanic and i was told that the air compressor was locked up and that we would have to wait a few days for a replacement part or drive home without the a/c in 90+ degree heat.remedy, replaced air compressor at a cost of $957.43 and by the way the vehicle had only 39203 miles on it.

I'm mexican woman . The first of august 2010 to go on the road (towards the city of queretaro, mexico,in a van mazda cx 7 2008 model first and let the air conditioning running, then started to smoke the driver's side, suddenly the short time stopped the car and when we got off shore and we saw that was on fire, stopped the fire and water damage, according to the agency are of 46 thousand pesos as two months ago that ended our warranty does not want to be responsible for the incident . We were all family, including my sun of four years, i thinkthat couldhad passed if the car had exploded, we took gasoline 30 minutes previous to the fire . I've gotten a number of forums to investigate complaints and there are scores equal to that of the same model. There are others in the cx 9 that even if you already acknowledged that the agency is also a risk of fire trucks were summoned ac. In our case say it is for use and is not factory defect nothing, not even now deny that the problem is in the air conditioning compressor and this was what we had said now say it's pulleys. Honestly i'm desperate, i want to help, see qe many people have had this problem and is not fair is very expensive and especially djando the money was really terrible, i was shocked muchisimo feared for our lives and i think that is a very serious matter and are not taking well. Please i need help. The only thing i'm told by phone mazda customer service in mexico is that there is nothing to do and there is no instance where to turn, this scares me a lot i can not believe it.

I have a 2008 mazda cx7 with 60,000 miles. My ac compressor just went out. First noticed a slight squealing noise which i thought might be a loose belt. The next day i noticed a strong smell like burning rubber. Car seemed to drive fine. Two days later i finally got it checked out and was told it was the compressor and needed to be replaced. I didn't get it fixed right away but they did tell me i shouldn't wait too long cause of possible lock up and belt breaking. Later that night when i turned on the car there was a squealing sound and lights went crazy and didn't want to start. I turned it off then tried again. It barely started that time. The very nextmorning it did the same thing and i drove it straight to be fixed. Went he mechanic turned the car on to move itfinally locked up and wouldn't start. I did not have it repaired at the dealership because everyone says it's more expensive. The place that fixed it gave me two options of fixing. Just the ac compressor or the compressor, expansion valve and receiver dryer. They told me i could just do the compressor which is what i did.

2008 mazda cx-7 air compressor failed at 42,000 miles while driving down the road a few days ago.appears to be a well known issue with the 2007 and the 2008 mazda cx-7 models that were built in '07 (as is the case with my '08).mazda needs to take responsibility and recall the 2007 and 2008 mazda cx-7 and replace the air compressor.luckily, i was able to turn the a/c off and drive my car to safety.not everyone has been that fortunate.this could have been a horrific issue had i been traveling at a high rate of speed with small children in the car.this is not just an a/c issue.once the compressor on the mazda cx-7 fails, there are a limited # of miles the car can travel until there are engine issues - even with the a/c turned off - will still cause engine problems if not fixed immediately.

My check engine light has come on in my 2008 mazda cx-9. Took the vehicle to the dealer and they advised the egr valve has to be replaced due to it being warn out. Mazda states this part does not fall under emissions warranty. After doing some research, this appears to be a common problem with mazda's and i don't feel i should be paying $1200.00 to fix a vehicle that is only two years old. Mazda has been no help just trying extort money from consumers.

This narrative is about total engine failure in a mazda cx-7 2008. There were no indications leading up to the failure. I got regular oil changes well within the manual recommended 5000-7500 miles. One morning on my way to work, the car simply stopped accelerating when i hit a small hill. There was no check engine light, no warning, nothing. I drove the car immediately to mazda service. As i was driving to the dealership, the check engine light did in fact come on. Upon looking into the problem, the dealership looked at it an determined that there was sludge in the engine and that the engine was destroyed. I had a warranty yet mazda refused to cover it due to "lack of maintenance" from owner. I was forced to replace the engine and was told if i went the route of another engine from a different mechanic or manufacturer, that the engine would be branded. Therefore, i ended up paying $7600. Upon further investigation, i found story after story with the same plot line. This engine must be recalled. It is faulty and dangerous and mazda refuses to acknowledge it for financial reasons.

2008 mazda cx 7 grand touring - purchased pre-owned vehicle from a certified mazda dealer in october 2008, had a loud engine sound and dealer advised this was "normal", just before warranty expiration found that transmission seal was bad and replaced this as well as the recalled compressor.now at 64k and noise in engine is getting worse and it is in fact the timing chain lapping.found out that this is a common problem and that some people have been having the chain break leaving them stranded in the middle of the road.also found that the entire casing and the tensioning belt/mechanism is failing.this is a huge safety concern and i am surprised that no one has recalled this, it is a very common problem in the 07 model as well.will request old parts be kept.currently being worked on.

I own a mazda 2008 cx7 sport - purchased new on 11/28/2007. I have 62,500 miles on the vehicle. It was towed to the dealer on 6/22/2010 with loud whining noise and loss of power. Dealer said the turbo is malfunctioned. Over the next week the extended service company for mazda requested maintenance records. I had the oil changed outside of the dealer some of the time. They looked at this and declined the warranty repairs. I kept calling and they agreed to send out an independent adjuster. He noted a "sludge" build up on the oil return hose bolt to the turbo. They declined my warranty coverage. I am having to pay $2500 to repair. I have been doing research online and this vehicle is having numerous issues with sludge buildup. This comes from the engine running to hot and breaking the oil down to create blockages that ultimately affect the turbo or other internal engine parts. If you look on edmunds website you can see their are others with the same issue. Mazda will not make the recall or assist the consumers. We follow their recommendations on oil change and are getting no assistance. I am afraid that i will have additional issues once this is repaired and they will decline future service. Hat can you do to help? i actually have the dealers printed copy of where they repaired the timing belt tensioner in april at 57k miles. According to the supervisor for customer service at the extended warranty office his computer records show they repaired the serpentine belt for less money that the dealer records i have in hand. What is going on this just does not seem honest. I need help and there are others with the same situation over the last year - some having to spend $7500 + out of pocket to repair their cx7. Please call me for help.

The contact owns a 2008 mazda cx7. While driving black smoke was expelled through the vents of the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. A technician from the dealer stated that the air conditioning clutch and belt had failed.he then added that the failure was a manufacturer defect. However, the estimated cost for the repair was $1,243.00.the manufacturer took a report, and a representative stated that they would assist with the repair. The vehicle was in the process of being repaired. The failure and current mileages were 42,000.

We purchased the vehicle new from a mazda dealer.from the time we purchased the vehicle i have noticed excessive carbon buildup around the exhaust openings at the rear of the vehicle.it is progressively getting worse to the point where the catalytic converters are getting red hot.the chrome exhaust tips are now discolored due to the heat.this vehicle was checked several days after purchase, where according to the mazda dealer, there were no issues.we moved, and a new mazda dealer is servicing the vehicle.today, 03-18-09 it was again checked diagnosticians with no issues.when this vehicle is driven for approximately 100 miles or more the exhaust system gets extremely hot.it is this "layman's opinion" that this engine is running very rich, "starving for air". I am concerned that this will eventually catch fire from the excessive heat generated at the catalytic converters and transmitted through the remainder of the exhaust system. (last trip back from phila area was 03-11-09...i was concerned about parking it in the garage until it cooled down).

I have a 2008 cx-7 with a failed egr valve.they refuse to cover this part under my power-train warranty even though this is clearly an emissions failure.i have been doing some research on the environmental protection agency's website and it is my understanding that the vehicle manufacturers are required to design and build their vehicles to meet emission standards for the useful life of the vehicle specified by law. Under section 207 of the clean air act, if epa determines that a substantial number of vehicles in a class or category do not meet emission standards in actual use even though they are properly maintained and used, epa can require the manufacturer to recall and fix the affected vehicles.my car has less then 30,000 mile on it and the erg valve should not have gone out already.i should not have to pay $712 to replace a part that does not meet emission standards set forth by california.it is not just my vehicle having this problem, the more research i do the more i realize that this an on going problem with multiple mazda consumers.

Sudden failure of ac clutch. Locks up and burns. Affects steering and will damage engine.

I was driving. Ac suddenly stopped burned smell coming in to the car, were i had my 12 month old baby in the car. Smell was making me sick baby start to cry. I called the towing company to take the car to the dealer. Saw on line that other people have had the same problem with the mazda cx7 ac problem.

On my 30 mile drive home from work, i briefly smelt something burning. Later on that drive, i realized that my a/c did not seem to be blowing cold. My a/c has always taken a while to cool the car down, but it wasn't even cool after my 30 mile drive home. When i confirmed that the a/c was not blowing cold at all, on my drive to work the following day, i took my car to a repair shop to have the a/c checked. That is when i was told my a/c compressor had "locked up" for some unknown reason, and needed to be replaced. I took my car to the mazda dealership the following business day and they confirmed the same. Mazda could not provide an explanation for why this happened at 58,000 miles. The compressor is still not repaired at this time because the mazda dealership will not warranty their repairs.

The ac in this vehicle has always under performed. It did not get really cold and had to be run on the high setting constantly.just last week the compressor failed completely.

2008 madza cx-7 4 cyl turbo. I bought the car on july 05 2011 with 89k miles. The next day a/c compressor locked up.it's was fixed with a brand new compresssor, but blow semi cold and hot while oncold mode.a recall should be in order as americans are getting ripped off by madza.

Just realized after changing back light that both side of rear lights have exactly the same problem , light bulbs are getting extremely hot during using and thisburnt the plastic part that is part of the rear lights.

These headlights and taillights and even inside the car dome lights are dangerously dim. Even with lights on bright it is difficult to see

The oem bulbs in the brake lights are too hot and after some time the bulbs burn through the plastic, causing the brake lenses to get cloudy, the plastic to melt onto the bulb, and the red tint to fade in the brake lights. My car is like this and every 2008 cx-7 i've seen has the same thing - cloudy and burned brake lenses from the bulbs burning a hole in the brake lense plastic.

Headlights are extremely dim.inside housing for headlights is melted from overheating, making headlights ineffective. Driving at night is not safe and down right dangerous. Very common problem for all years of this vehicle.

Tail light lenses / plastic in the housing for stop lights, flashers / signal lights and back up lights ignited slowly and melted away.i realized that something was burning in my car and after a thorough search, i noticed that my left tail light was not working and the brake light / stop light appeared to be smoky.when i attempted to remove the light bulb to check the tail light housing, i noticed that the plastic lens within the tail light housing had melted and a strong smell of burnt plastic was felt immediately.i removed all the bulbs within the house to check for further meltdown of the plastic lens but at this time, it appears that only the brake light lens has melted to the point that i can now see the white light coming thru the outer shell of the red lens in the stop light.i have kept both light bulbs from the left and right tail lights, to show the melted plastic around the bulbs and i left the melted lens in the tail light housing to prove that there was a meltdown within the tail light housing.note that the bulbs i removed 7743-12volt, are all original equipment from when i purchased the car from my local mazda dealer on 12/7/2007.i am not sure if i should worry about themeltdown eventually becoming a electrical fire inside the tail light housing.

Both rear brake light bulbs melted through the light encasing.

The contact owns a 2008 mazda cx-7. The contact stated that the clear tail lights made it difficult to decipher when the brake lights were illuminated. There was no red coloring for the brake lights. The dealer diagnosed that the bulb was pink, not red. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 68,000.updated 01/04/17*lj

Due to defective seals on the headlight assemblies, moisture builds up inside the lens causing very poor visibility at night driving...this is on the inside, not the outside of the lens....had purchased extended 7 year 70k mile bumper to bumper warranty but mazda says it from going through car washes...what a scam..guess someone has to get hurt for them to fix there defective parts...my wife won't drive the car at night.. Last mazda i buy..their customer satisfaction service is horrible...this is a serious safety issue and should be addressed...look around, they are all fogged up!!

Mazda got stuck and had no power the first time second time happened october 9,2013 car kept shutting off and finally could not move. Turbo once again twice in 5 months and i only had this pre-owned vehicle for 7 months.

In november of 2016 my right headlight went out. Went to purchase a $100 bulb and when the mechanic went to replace it he advised the bulb could not be replaced because the housing to hold the bulb was melted. He advised this is abnormal for the housing to melt and most vehicles would not have this issue. However, he advised he has seen this happen a lot with cx-7 vehicles. He suggested that i reach out to mazda for assistance since this, he felt, was a defect of the headlight assembly. I called mazda filed the complaint however the rep set expectations for a call back that i never received. Fast forward, the left headlight assembly is doing the same. I called mazda and spoke with christopher and he said mazda could not do anything for me because they apparently sent me an e-certificate last november when i called in about the right side assembly. I advised him that i did not receive it and emailed it to me again. I asked him what assistance could be provided for the replacement of the right side assembly and he advised there wasn't any. I expressed my concern about this being a safety issue i could not simply just replace the bulb, the whole assembly for both sides now need to be replaced. I then spoke with thom and he also denied assistance. I feel this is very unfair. The housing which holds the bulb melting in both assemblies has nothing to do with the age and mileage of my vehicle. This is a manufacture's defect and i think mazda should have to pay for it. There is nothing i could've done to prevent that from happening. I know people who have vehicles older than mine and they do not have this issue. What are my recourses at this point? this is very unfair. To offer $300.00 on a part that cost $2000.00 (both sides) is not reasonable. The vehicle cannot be driven because its a safety issue. No lights.

The contact owns a 2008 mazda cx-7.the contact stated that the rear exterior light would burn a hole in the tail light cover, melting the plastic.the dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure and advised the contact that they would inspect the vehicle at a charge but the contact declined.the vehicle was not repaired.the failure mileage was 49,800 and the current mileage was 49,880.

The contact owns a 2008 mazda cx-7. The contact stated while driving approximately 25 mph a spider crawled on him and he almost lost control of the vehicle. The failure was directly related to nhtsa recall 11v134000,fuel system, gasoline, storage tank assembly.the vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing nor was it repaired. The contact expressed concern over losing control of the vehicle while driving due to the spiders. The contact also stated there were several spiders and spider webs inside the vehicle. The failure and current mileages were 55,200.

My mazda cx7 - 2008 has only 70,000 miles and the engine light went on and after bringing it to a mechanic and checking the codes with a computer, it came up that the egr valve needs to be replaced.

The contact owns a 2008 mazda cx-7. The contact stated that each time the vehicle drove over a bump in the road, the radio independently turned on or off. The contact also stated that the door locks failed to remain locked. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign numbers: 17v429000 (air bags) and 16v593000 (suspension); however, the parts needed for the repair were not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact called an unknown mazda dealer in columbus, oh and was informed that the remedy part was not available for the repair. The manufacturer informed the contact that they could not do anything about it and did not offer further assistance. The failure mileage was 80,000. Parts distribution disconnect.

Vehicle started making a loud whining noise while driving at 55mph. White smoke started pouring out of rear end. We thought the car was on fire. It then wouldn't get over 20mph. Pulled over and called a tow truck.

Whining sound when gas pedal is compressed, form 30 - 65 mph, at times ,loss of power.

I already have a complaint but i forgot to add that my airbag light is on and won't come off along with my engine light it won't even crank since we broke down in the middle of highway because idh the money to get it fixed and trying to ask for a ride everyday! thank you so much

So this is my complaint and story so we went to florida like a week and came back to texas. When we got back home i started to hear an noise on the engine. I took the car to the mechanic and he said that wasn't normal it sounded like a diesel truck. So the next day i had to go to work and i was coming back home the engine light started to flash continuously and car started to shake so i drove it to a auto parts store, so they can check the code and they said it was a piston 3 misfire. I took it to mechanic again and he said the spark plug had oil and he said that was not a good sign he said it might be the engine or a bent valve. First of all this is our only car and don't have money to fix it. A use engine cost 3,000 and up and if its the head it cost like 1900 and i've been readinga lot of bad reviews of this car i really need help i can't afford to fix my car we are a family of 5.

We bought this car on february 19, 2011 with around 26,000 miles on it. On january 30, 2012 (around 36,000 miles) theengine light came on and the vehicle lost all power. We took it to our mechanic to have it diagnosed and it came back that the mass air flow sensor was bad.we had that replaced, but it made no difference at all.the engine light came back on and that mechanic told us we would have to take it to a mazda dealer and that if it was anything to do with the powertrain, it should still be under warranty.we were happy to hear that indeed it was still under warranty and that mazda most likely would cover all costs.a day later the dealership called to tell us that mazda needed to see proof of maintenance on the oil changes, as there was a "sludge buildup."we had the oil changed as required, but were told that mazda may not honor the warranty after all...seems it doesn't matter if you did everything right or not, mazda seems to be denying this is a major problem.we are still waiting to hear if this will be covered, and have been doing lots of research on this issue.we wanted to get a start on this issue if it ends up being the nightmare that other owners are describing.there seems to be a major engineering flaw and we are afraid of losing everything due to the extreme repair costs associated with this problem.not to mention recurring issues that seem to arise after the repairs are made!mazda needs to stop the denial and resolve this issue asap!hopefully you can please help some hard working people who cannot afford these costs!thanks for your time...

2008 mazda cx-7with 40,925 miles.am disabled, retired military so to save money i peform own oil changes approximately every 5000 to 7500 miles depending on driving conditions.alwas need to add oil in between changes though no leak found.was told by mazda service within first 6 months of owning this vehicles that the turbo gets extremely hot and burns off oil.just before mileage stated above, the check engine light came on while driving and engine lost power.no other indications leading up to this.handheldobcd-ii computer check showed code p0101 (mass air flow sensor).checked cx-7 on-line forums and in less than 1/2 an hour found over 25 complaints (stopped searching at this point) with same problem i have.apparently this is a common problem and the outcomes were scary.as per several forums, mazda tells customers, as i was also told, that the turbo and bearings bad, said sludge in engine breaches warranty due to lack of maintenance proof and denies to honor warranty.say car needs a rebuilt or new engine and turbo installed and i must pay $7k - $9k for a rebuilt engine.now owe over $18k on a car that should have a recall done on it for this problem.spoke wih mazda customer assistance ad they told me that the district service manager's (dsm) decision is final, and nothing they can do to help me.then asked my dealer for dsm phone number and was told they can't let me have it, but said he was going to be at their dealership that day to verify another warranty claim denial and that they would have him call me.filed on-line complaint with bbb and am awaiing info from them to discuss mediation and if that fails arbitration.

The contact owns a 2008 mazda cx-7.the contact stopped the vehicle and turned off the ignition.when he placed the gear into park, it would not engage.the dealer stated that all of the vehicles do not lock in park after turning off the ignition switch.the gear shift moves while the engine is on and the vehicle is in park.the contact has owned the vehicle for three weeks.another driver exited their vehicle and thought that the vehicle was in park after she turned off the vehicle.the gear failed to lock into place and the vehicle crashed into a tree.the service manager at the dealer stated that this was abnormal, but all of the vehicles operate in that manner and there may be a potential safety hazard.the contact and service manager also observed several vehicles that were designed in that manner.the contact is also waiting on a district service manager to call him back.the insurance company was liable for the repairs.the owner's manual did not indicate that there may be difficulty with the gear shift.there was damage to the rear end bumper and tailgate of the vehicle.the failure mileage was approximately 700 and current mileage was 760.updated 09/10/08. *ljupdated 09/11/08.

I purchased my 2008 mazda cx7 new from jake sweeney mazda in cinti, oh.i had not had any problems with it until this incident.i was driving for work from cinti, oh to clarksburg, wv.20 minutes into my drive, the ac went out.there was a strong smell of a belt burning.i turned the air off, put the windows down and continued to drive without ac. Three hours later, the car stalled.i was able to pull over and get it started again.i drove to the nearest repair shop i could find.they told me the drivetrain had gone bad and would need to be replaced.i called mazda and they told me it was out of the 5 yr/60,000 mile warranty since the car has 79,000 miles on it.i could pay to have it towed to the closest mazda dealership and have a diagnostic done to see if they would consider honoring the warranty.this would not be applied to any needed repairs.i opted to leave it at the repair shop. They are ordering the part which will take a week to get.i had to rent a car to get back home and will have to drive back to wv to get my car.i realize the car is out of warranty but having the drivetrain go out after only two years and 79 ,000 miles is terrible quality.i have leased new cars all my life and have never had one have a problem this major after only two and half years. I won't be buying another mazda again.

Abs light on dash display, dealer advised had to order a module. Stopped to get gas while i was out of town and airbag deployed scaring myself and my two passengers. I was thank goodness not in vehicle.only driverside airbag deployed and seatbelt tightened up and broke the plastic around the door frame.

The driver's seat under welding which attaches the chair to the body of the car, under the seat, has become detached for no known reason. The front end of the driver's seat unit is no longer attached to the frame of the car yet the back end of the seat is still attached by the motor controls to the power seat.the driver's seat actually rocks back like a rocking chair lifting & moving the seat and backrest as one unit. The broken weld is actually visible when looking under the driver's seat.the motor to the power seat has been functioning but is deteriorating. The seatbelt cannot protect me from this defective seat, if i were rear-ended it would be likely that i, the driver, would be flung backwards into the back seat which could fatally injure one of my children.

Driving approximately 55 - 60 mph on an extremely cold (-20) morning.tried to brake and brake is very hard and does not stop.after pumping the brake several times, it grabs and brakes properly.this is the fourth time this has happened in an approximate 30 day period (all during extreme cold).took car to dealer and they find nothing wrong with the brake system.i have subsequently found the articles about the nhtsa opening an investigation into braking problems on the mazda cx-9 that sound identical to the problem i have been experiencing.

Recall 9716h (front lower control arm) was sent out in october 2016 and 10 months later there is no solution or eta to the solution.in the interim, we are driving a potentially unsafe vehicle during dangerous times of the year (winter).recall 1317f (air bag inflator) i was denied a service appointment due to a technicians strike and offered no recourse or options in the interim.announced safety issues when no immediate repair is available, should at minimum be have the requirement to offer drivers a safe and comparable rental vehicle while a solution is put into place.we are in a situation where mazda has now essentially said "we sold you an unsafe car so just keep driving it until we fixing it fits into our schedule".

The contact owns a 2008 mazda cx-7. The contact stated that the steering wheel was extremely tight and was difficult to maneuver left and right. The dealer indicated that there was a premature failure with the ball links associated with the lower ball joints. The driver side ball joints. Months later, the steering wheel was difficult to turn left and right again. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and they replaced the ball joints on both sides of the vehicle. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 16v593000 (suspension) months ago, but the remedy and parts had not yet been supplied to the dealer. The dealer indicated that the two repairs were separate from the steering recall. The vin was also included in nhtsa campaign number: 16v356000 (air bags). The failure mileage was not available. Parts distribution disconnect. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

Thanks.

The power steering failed.almost impossible to steer car to safe stop on side of road. The power steering hose was cut by the end of the crankshaft at the end of the engine and all the fluid leaked out causing the pump to stop and burn up. The hose was cut by long-term rubbing by the end of the crankshaft that spins outside the engine cover. The hose is located next to the shaft that spins.it sliced into it causing a leak.

Without warning the cabin of my mazda cx-7 filled with smoke and the powersteering went out. Apparently faulty ac compressor burned belts and knocked out powersteering. Mazda replaced compressor with new revised compressor.

Nov. 2015 i was involved in a accident on i435 in which the airbags deployedwhich i inhaledthe gas, which disoriented me for awhile. After regaining my senses discovered my vehicle was totaled.

Bought the car july 30 2016. Left front control arm broke causing lost steering and additional damage to the car. Had the car repaired at a shop july 20 2017. Got a recall notice for the same issue sept 2017. Just had the car repaired as per the recall 08/09/2018 but now mazda does not want to reimburse for the prior repairs made since it was after the august 10 2016 date on the recall and cause i don't have the bank statement from back then showing it was paid on my visa. I sent them the invoice from the garage that is clearly marked paid visa. The breakage happened on the street i live on, wife and i were on our way to meet with family for supper. The car was just driven home by myself from work on a 65mph 4 lane highway less then a hour prior, thank god it didn't break at those speeds. The road makes a slight turn to the right when i heard a bang and the left front corner of the car dropped. Once i safely got the car stopped with steering found the left front tire at a 90 degree angel with the fender on top of it. Drive shaft was torn out from the transmission and tie rods were bent.

My cx-7 was repaired under the ball joint recall. The ball joint had failed prior to getting the ball joint replaced. As a result there were a lot more repairs that were required.it has been a little over a year since the ball joints were repaired. Repair date was 1/25/2017.according to morrie's chippewa valley mazda in lake hallie, wi, my left ball joint is already loose.it was my understanding that this recall was to address the ball joints failing prematurely. It should have lasted more than a year. Mazda says there is no warranty for the recall replacement.

The ac quit working in the car. Hot air will blow but will not blow cold air

My car is a 2008 mazda cx-7 and this summer i began to use the ac which never seems to cool off my car. It blow cold air but not very cold and i have to keep it at level 4 and push the other button that makes it blow harder. Which i think is the circulation button. I should not have to keep it on full blast and with the ac button and the one next to it depressed all the time to cool my car off. I don't think it is running correctly.

A/c compressor went out. All parts needed to replace is compressor/condenser-dryer/expansion valve. Total of $2778.00 working fine. Stopped at store 15 min. Start back up and no a/c

Mazda issued a warranty extension on the a/c compressor because of a known problem. My compressor broke after this extension. It created a safety concern as the clutch broke off of the compressor cause sparks to fly from the loose rubbing metal. Sparks were not caused from electric arc. When the clutch originally seized the engine / compressor began to smoke. I turned off the ac and drove home. Upon driving the car to to the repair shop with the ac off, the clutch separated and began sparking. This clutch could have separated and shot like a projectile. Ac compressor broke while on highway. I have the old part should you like to see it.

Without warning the cabin of my mazda cx-7 filled with smoke and the powersteering went out. Apparently faulty ac compressor burned belts and knocked out powersteering. Mazda replaced compressor with new revised compressor.

At some times it starts blowing so hot that it is more comfortable to turn the a/c off even when it is 105 degrees outside! i have taken the car into mazda of st. George, utah twice and they put a thermometer in the vent, tell me it's cold enough and send me on my way. They say they don't know why it blows hot air but that the a/c system is working normally. I have lived in this very hot climate for a very long time and have owned many different cars. All of them were able to cool down the car to a comfortable temperature even in our hot area. When the temperature gets above 100 to 105 degrees the car is too uncomfortable to drive. In fact, my wife will choose to drive my truck (as opposed to her '08 mazda) as the air conditioner in the truck actually blows cold air.

We have a 2008 mazda cx7 bought new in 2008 at about 35,677 mile mark our a/c started going in and out not blowing cold air.took it and the tech air blowing at 46 degrees and pressure good.no major problems after.just this past weekend my wife is driving the car with my eight tear old on the interstate when the car started smoking severely.she pulls over call me, a brief look over i saw that something was wrong with the a/c clutch area.now the a/c is out. I'm on my way to mazda right now and will update status later.vehicle is out of warranty wouldn't you know.apparently from research via the internet this is and has been a very common problem.help! please.....

I already have a complaint but i forgot to add that my airbag light is on and won't come off along with my engine light it won't even crank since we broke down in the middle of highway because idh the money to get it fixed and trying to ask for a ride everyday! thank you so much

Also the bearings are recalled. We received two letters from the mazda recall department, stateing the recalls.
