Read complaints for MAZDA CX-5 (2015)

I was driving on a highway at approximately 50 mph. I was hit in the right side back of the vehicle. This caused that the vehicle veered to the left hitting the central metal barrier of the road in the front left side. The vehicle made a 360 degrees turn and hit the barrier again, this time with the right front side. Finally, the vehicle came to a stop in the center lane (this is a three lane highway). According to the insurance company this vehicle is a total loss. Now comes the worst part. Of the four airbags, two in the front, two side curtains, only the right curtain activated. The three other airbags did not deploy. Luckly, there was no physical harm to my granddaughter or to me, but the mental anguish is unbearable. My granddaughter is not mentally prepared to drive again.

The contact owned a 2015 mazda cx5. The contact stated that the vehicle was at stand still at a stop sign, when she started to move forward when another vehicle impacted the front driver side. The air bags did not deploy. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact stated no one injured or in need to seek medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was not drivable and considered totaled. The vehicle was towed to impound lot. The vehicle was not diagnosed as of yet.a dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer had not been informed of failure. The failure mileage was unknown. *ln

The contact owns a 2015 mazda cx-5. The contact received a recall notice for nhtsa campaign number: 16v644000 (air bags). The contact stated that the parts needed for the recall remedy were still not available and that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact had not experienced a failure. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

Driving on hwy 41 going south from racine into chicago area late morning, my son in law was driving going about 55. All the lights on the dash went on!every single one was lit up so he pulled to the side of the road and the car would not shut off, the electrical system was just frozen, things that were on stayed on and the things that had been off would not go on.after approximately 30 of sitting at the side of the road waiting for assistance (it was over 90 degrees that day) i was finally able to shut the car off.after consulting with a mechanic via phone i started the car.it started right up and the only light on was check engine.we drove to our destination, parked the car for the night and the next morning it was like nothing ever happened.no check engine light, not a sign of trouble.we drove home with no issue.i found someone else with the same issue on this website and took that information to the dealership.they found that the ground wire in the front had been painted over at the factory resulting in a faulty connection.

Driving normally, suddenly at an on-ramp, car would no longer accelerate.i hit the gas a couple times and engine just revved, and the car was jerky as if struggling to change gear.anything over 3,000 rpm it would not drive.i also noticed electrical problems with radio and lights at the same time.thankfully, i was able to coast to pull over.turned off car and re-started.test drove the vehicle around the area and it happened again at over 3,000 rpm.luckily this didn't cause an accident.

I bought a brand new 2015 mazda cx-5 it had less than 50 miles on it. That was december 2015. I gave the car to my son, who has been driving it for the last 2 years. He had the oil changed every 5000 miles with the synthetic oil which i was told was the correct way according to mazda. On april the 24th 2019 the car died on the highway. My son said the lights on the control panel flashed and the car started slowing down and killed over would not start before it died my son said the engine started knocking really loud. Now the dealership wants 10,304.00 to fix a car that has a bb value of 12,000 to 15000 dollars. They want to replace the engine, fuel injectors, and the fuel pump and it also blew a fuse that the guy working on it said he had never seen happen before. Now that was a mazda employee, now i have researched this site and this is not a uncommon problem for mazda, but the dealership won't own up to it. They just say it is past warranty. I don't need this stress.

3 weeks ago, the drivers side seat bottom quit working at the same time the seat back is running super hot (as i choose the lowest level selection button). It's so hot, it feels like it's 'burning'. So i turn it off. Even after 10 minutes of turning this off, it is still running hot to warm. It does not turn off or cool down immediately like it used to. This is why i believe that it's possibly a safety electrical issue. I do not know what or which component part(s) that are truly impacted but clearly it's an electrical issue.

This is the second occurrence of the same issue, but while driving the vehicle at highway speeds, all dash lights illuminated (check engine, turn signals, temp warnings, etc) simultaneously and the information screen displayed an alert "engine inspection required". The incident also resulted in a loss of power steering/heavier-than-normal steering effort and brake warning indications, on the first instance (july 10, 2014), mazda roadside assistance was contacted and the vehicle was towed to the dealer with no fault/cause found. On the second instance (july 15, 2014), the vehicle was driven directly to the dealership. Technicians were able to diagnose the issue to a loose ground connection in the passenger front fender well.

I started the car and went inside of the house and forgot the keys and went shopping, when i came out the car wouldn't start because i didn't have the keys. Why would the car run with out the keys? is this a defect?

Our vehicle is equipped with the "smart city braking" feature that automatically prevents collisions at low speed.this system triggers the brakes and brings the vehicle to a stop when an object is detected in front of the vehicle.this system has been triggered by steam clouds coming out of sewer grates and has brought the car to a complete and very unexpected stop several times.no real "object" was behind the steam cloud / yet because of the way the system is implemented it detected an object and activated the brakes.this unexpected braking can quickly bring the car to a complete stop and could result in serious property damage or injury.we pass by an area with multiple sewage grates releasing steam and this system is becoming a safety hazard.we have been lucky enough not to have someone behind us when the system is triggered - but it is only a matter of time before the braking triggers in heavy traffic.

Mazda engine defect i purchased a 2015 mazda cx-5 used two years ago. While my daughter was driving to work she noticed a loud ticking noises from engine. She scheduled a service with mazda dealership and they stated that the problem is within the internal combustion and the engine needs to be torn down for complete diagnosis, he further suggested that i replace the defective engine with a mazda new engine totaling over $7000. Alarmed, i researched and found other mazda owner experiencing the same problems. This constitutes my formal complaint for mazda defective engines.

Transmission issue: i turned on the car in a parking lot and tmps and scsb code and the tire pressure lights came on. I had about 15k on the car and it was just a year old and due for it's service.i wrote down the codes and figured i would tell the dealership when i took it in for service.i drove a little ways and stopped at a light. The car started to make a loud noise and shudder. I drove through the light and pulled up to the stop sign. The tachometer revved up but the car wouldn't go anywhere.i made it to the stop sign, put on my flashers and put the car in park.i turned it off and turned it back on again.i was able to drive a few more feet then again the entire engine revved up again.repeat this about 6 more times. I was able to make it the mile to my house doing the drive, stop, turn off, start again and repeat.i had it towed to the dealership.thedealership fixed the car and said it was the transmission and that mazda was able to tell them how to fix it because they'd seen it before and it was a a "shift concern and software upgrade needed."i'd really like to save someone else from going through this so i want to report it. If i'd been driving faster and the engine shut down like that, i could have had a serious accident.has anyone else had this problem? also why wasn't this reported on any of the car/driver, consumer reports reviews.this is a serious issue and people should consider it before they buy the car. Mazda should fix the issue in the cx-5 so that it doesn't happen.

Nhtsa recall 16c-644 insufficient corrosion.rear hatch or lift gate may drop.car was in the shop for transmission issues.recall was not repaired

I was parking my mazda cx5 in a spot at a shopping center and when i touched the brake with my right foot and went to shift car into park, it suddenly accelerated full speed, making a vroom sound, jumping the curb and smashing into a brick post (luckily i hit the post and not a person!).i don't know if it's a transmission, brake or accelerator issue - but there is definitely something wrong. I did not hit the accelerator instead of the brake.at first i thought it must be me, somehow, someway, hitting the accelerater but i never really believed this.today, april 26, 2019, the same thing happened!luckily, this time the car jumped the curb and i hit a tree, leaving a small dent in my hood.again i heard that vroom sound, and just thought - oh no, not again!

2015 mazda cx5 2.0 l, well maintained; recommended oil used at proper intervals, with 130,000 miles, mostly highway driven. With no warning lights and/or sounds, vehicle started loosing power at around 30 mph in the city and engine completely stalled. Aaa was called to start the vehicle to no avail, battery checked out ok. Towed to mazda dealership in wichita, ks. Dealer service examined vehicle and found a valve stem broken and lying on top of engine, visible through the spark plug well. As the owner, along with the service manager, i saw the broken valve stem in the engine but also notice my engine was extremely clean on the inside with clean oil as well, no evidence of dirt and/or sludge of any kind. Vehicle owner commented to the dealer how clean the engine and the vehicle was kept inside and out. Dealer responded by text to owner, new engine replacement, at the cost of $7000; used engine with 91,000 miles at $5000. Dealer stated after 60,000, vehicle of out of warranty. Owner researched and found evidence the failure is likely due too engine design. Mazda built an aluminum engine with high compression ratio, but built it lighter and with smaller component parts. According to engineers, that's a recipe for various component parts and ultimately overall engine failure. The skyactiv engine operates at 13.0 compression ratio, by design; if not designed properly and being it's new technology, failures like internal component parts and the engine, are likely. Owner's vehicle at dealer for almost 3 weeks and they are offering no assistance to repair the vehicle. There needs to be an inquiry into the design of the skyactiv engine and address mazda alleging owner's are abusing vehicles and charging exorbitant prices for mechanical issues caused by their product design. Owner currently has two 2015 mazda cx5's . Dealer/mazda offering no assistance.

I was trying to park my vehicle in a soccer field parking lot.as i slowly turning right into my spot at about 3-5mph, my foot was lightly depressed on brake pedaland about to come to a complete stop, the vehicle suddenly made a very loud engine sound (my foot was still on the brake pedal and not on the gas pedal) as the engine rev up for about a second or two then accelerated forward jumping the curb and hit a big fence pole which stopped the vehicle.the vehicle felt like it sped up from 3mph to 30mph and i had no time to react.the front passenger side badly destroyed and the vehicle is totaled. The car was five years old and about 75k miles. It is very safety concerning and should be seriously look into. *dt*as

My vehicle heater core has pluged up after 48,000 miles. I cant drive in cool weather do to fog windshields. This is a hug problem with mazdas cx-5 between 2014 and 2016.

Was turning right onto side city street to park, was going maybe 2 miles an hour because i was going to park. The car engine self accelerated and i could not control it,hit a chain link fence and sheared off a natural gas meter to a home.the break pedal did not stop the car, i was in drive put into park and shut the engine off

Accelerating onto the freeway, the engine lost power and the check engine as well as several dash warning lights illuminated. The vehicle would not respond to the accelerator pedal, and would only go 45-50mph. I took it to the dealer and after reading out the data on the engine computer, i was told the problem was most likely "bad" gas. I was directed to just burn through the gas in the tank. When the car was returned to me from the garage it was running fine and i was not told anything had been done to correct the problem. I am still using the same tank of gas and have not experienced the problem again so far. I checked with the gas retailer and they have had no other complaints with respect to contaminated gas. I feel this is a safety issue. I had to drive the car on a 75mph freeway at 45mph to reach the dealer. Even with emergency flashers on that was a very harrowing experience.

The contact owns a 2015 mazda cx-5. While driving 30 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning and lost power completely. The contact was able to coast the vehicle into a parking lot. The contact restarted the vehicle and several bsm off, tire pressure monitoring system warning light, tcs/dsc indicators remained illuminated. Lannan mazda in lowell, massachusetts was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 44,740.

I pulled out of a parking lot after having the vehicle parked there for about 2 hours- the vehicle is brand new with 725 miles on it and has been driven on city streets only since i've had it. I pulled out of the parking lot, drove 1 block in no traffic, and when parked at the stoplight, noticed a bit of smoke/steam coming from under the hood.not a lot and the car wasn't overheating.since the car was so new, i didn't know what to think of it but thought maybe it was a fluke.drove it for 2 more errand stops on 30mph streets and then home.the next day i pulled out of my driveway and noticed the a/c isn't cooling.i took it to the mazda dealership that week assuming whatever is wrong would be under warranty.they showed me a small pinhole in my a/c compressor and informed me that a rock must've flown through my grill area and left a hole in the compressor, causing the freon to leak.it would cost around $1500 to fix and isn't covered because considered "road debris."the biggest issue i have is that the design of the grill is so open, i can fit my arm in there.what's to prevent this from happening again? every time it happens, the passengers breathe in freon and it's released into the environment.clearly the grill is designed far too open to prevent from large debris, let alone a pebble, damaging the a/c condenser. Something needs to be done to retrofit the opening and prevent this from happening time and time again.i did research and discovered it's not uncommon for this vehicle and one person reported it happening on the 2nd day of her ownership and then again a year later.

2015 mazda cx-5.consumer writes in regards to vehicle air conditioning condenser issues.the consumer was informed the air condenser had been hit by a stone, caused a hole to form which resulted in freon leaking out.

I purchased a new 2015 mazda cx5 in may of 2015 with the tour technology package. Therefore, i have the bi-xenon, hid, headlamps.i do like the curve adaptive feature that moves the entire light system left and right by15 degrees.i drive mostly in well lit city areas, but when my brother was here last november and noticed in rural areas how easy it was to 'overdrive' both low and high beam settings.i have to admit that the regular h1 high beams on my 2007 mazda6 are far better than these 2015 hid lights.they have a sharp cut off on the left side of the highway when on low beam so they don't illuminate as far down the roadas i would like, and that may explain part of the problem when lights are switched to high beam as well. I have discussed this issue with my mazda service dept., and they tell me that by federal law, they are not allowed to raise the height of these 'self-leveling' lights.they can only adjust from side to side for more or less lighting.i can understand why the insurance institute for highway safety gave the 2016 mazda cx5 a marginal rating even with the bi-xenon headlamps.even at normal highway speeds, it would be difficult to stop for objects on poorly lit rural roads. I do feel that this is a big safety concern.manufacturers and their engineers need to reevalute the importance of basic features such as headlights.

Daytime running lights no longer operating.changed the fuse, which was still in good condition, and the daytime running lights still don't work.may be same issue as the cx5 2016 problem?

The contact owns a 2015 mazda cx-5. While driving 25 mph, the headlights failed to illuminate at night without warning. The contact stated that the vehicle was turned off and restarted several times, but the headlights failed to illuminate. The vehicle was taken to whitten brothers mazda (10745 midlothian turnpike, richmond, va 23235, (804) 378-8200) where it was diagnosed that the headlight assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 34,000.

The service department people of koeppel mazda in woodside, nywas evadingto help me schedule a service appointment in connection with the recall. I spent more than 30 minutes on the phone ending with nothing because the people in thatdealership were transferring me back and forth. The numbers i called are 718-721-9100 and 718-764-8105. This kind of customer service is completely unacceptable.

After a 700 mile trip from arizona to california on the highway, my mazda's cx-5 would no longer accelerate. When pressing the accelerator and reaching 5 mph the car would suddenly feel as if it were breaking, causing the car to lurch forward. This occurred when trying to drive down the street. Imagine if this were to happen while i was driving down the highway at 70 mph.

Transmission would not accelerate and automatically braked in the middle of an intersection.would not advance and to the next gear and automatically kept breaking every few feet.had to pull over and be towed.no advance warning or prior transmission issues.car maintenance has been kept up.lucky it didn't happen on a highway going 65.

Tried to take off from a red light, car accelerated then all of a sudden would not go anywhere and rev'd like it was in neutral then slowed and stuttered to a sudden stop.would not shift into gear.

My car's transmisson would just break down in the middle of the highway 69 at prescott, arizona and finally stop there and cannot move around or pull over at all. If this issue happens, this would cause a servere rear ended accident and a potential cause of accident. Luckily, there was telephone connection and we can call a cop and a towing truck. Otherwise, it will cause serious car accident and trafific jam. This issue must be dealt with . The car's transmission would just break down right after 5years and 60k miles warranty while most cars will be like 150k miles. Instead of being responsible to the customer, they never care about the transmission. I am doubting the relaibility ofmazda transmisssion and belive it should be a recall due to that.for road safety and to make sure no car will suddenly stop in the middle of the road due to transmission problem, i strongly recommend mazda need to recall its auto with problematic unreliable transmission system. Also, the transmission will cost a lot for its customer to fix. It is also unfair for mazda owener. To protect my privacy, i am not going to upload whole work order estimate but aa image show the price and how badly the transmission break down in the middle of the highway.if needed and my privacy can be ensured, i can provide the whole work order estimate.

There was chattering noise from the rear while driving the vehicel dealership diagnosed it as a rear differential issue. Napleton mazda dealership in arlington heights il.told me rear differential was broken with out any further details. I told me this issue cannot be fixed needs a new rear differential. So they changed the whole differential. Only the work performed receipt was given.

I was going from r to d on flat ground. The gear indicator says d but when i press the gas pedal nothing happens for two seconds. Then the gear changes and the car jerked forward violently. My wife was scare about it, we have four cars, none of them will be like it. Also, when you going down hill, the gears will change violently, i will take this car to dealership next oil change.

I just purchased this vehicle in september 2014.while i was driving on interstate 15 at approximately 70mph all a sudden i had no more power i could not accelerate, when i pushed the gas pedal nothing would happen.i pulled over to the side of the road and stopped put it in park and put it back in drive and it went.so i continued on my trip however, about 50 minutes into my trip now on interstate 215 that same thing happened this time when i pulled over just putting it i park and back in drive it didn't work i had to turn the vehicle off start it and then it worked.i had to turn around and cancel the trip as i didn't want to be stranded.i'm not sure if its the transmission or what.

The vehicle would not respond to the accelerator pedal, and would only go 45-50mph. While driving through stop and go traffic near a traffic light on a downward slope (maybe 10-15 degrees), i attempted to apply the brakes in order to come to a stop. When doing so, the brake pedal was being applied normally but the vehicle wasn't slowing down like it normally does. As a result, i pushed down on the brakes as hard as possible and while the vehicle slowed down more than it previously was, it attempted to lurch forward more and more. I noticed that the rpms were slowly getting higher while i was in the middle of applying the brake pedal as hard as possible, but the vehicle was coming increasingly close to making contact with the vehicle in front of me. Due to the vehicle being close to being physically stopped already, i placed the vehicle in park as quickly as possible and the rpms for the vehicle immediately climbed all the way to the red-line (i believe 6,500 rpms) and then returned to normal. Throughout the remainder of the trip (another 5-10 miles), the vehicle exhibited no noticeable issues. I called the local mazda dealership to see if any problems regarding the transmission were currently being investigated, but i was told that no recalls were currently open for a transmission problem.

Awd powertrain failure after 5yrs, 79,000 miles. Power to rear wheels disengaged. Heavy intermittent metallic clunking sound emitted from rear axle when in motion under power, especially in slow tight turns, or backing up.mechanic identifies failure point at the viscous coupling of drive shaft to rear differential.no recalls from mazda;repair is replacement of this coupling and the entire rear differential, ~ $2000 parts and labor.thank you mazda, for a poorly engineered awd drivetrain.

The transmission quit on my at 59k miles. Wont go into drive, but will in reverse. I took the care to a transmission shop, and it needs rebuilt. No warning lamps, messages, etc. I was stopped at a red light, luckily i wasn't driving at it just stopped.

Transmission failed at 63,537 miles. After being told the repair would cost $5,400 i asked would i be getting the same transmission that failed. The service advisor had contacted mazda tech support and said "no, we've discovered the problem in your transmission and it has been corrected in the new ones". Mazda knows about this problem and it not taking responsibility to recall or repair the known issue. There is an abundance of information if you google mazda transmission problems. Mazda also does not "tie" warranties to their vehicles. Their hope is that you buy a warranty, then you forget about warranty terms, then deny claims. They're completely unethical.

Shifter assembly is faulty in mazda cx-5. Radio system/car will not completely shut off when parked. Vehicle still on after parking and shutting off engine.

Car is slipping. Transmission is skipping gears at low speeds.

During hard breaking (abs engaged) at 30 mph city traffic, followed by a front end crash, both seat belt retractors for the two front seat passengers failed, failing to keep the passengers secured in their seatsthe belts never locked and completely despooled.the driver was able to use the steering wheel to remain seated, however the passenger's head impacted and shattered the windshield.the passenger also had bad bruising from the final restraint of the belts after it despooled and stopped.

I have a 2015 mazda cx5 with only 4,800 miles on it. Yesterday i experienced something very scary while i was driving. The front seat started to move on its own and completely folded on me while i was driving on the highway. The lumbar support begin to fill with air, then the seat began to fold towards the steering wheel almost completely crushing me. My chest was against the steering wheel and when i reached down to try to lean the seat back it kept moving on its own and wouldn't allow me to push it back.i called my dealership and they acted like it was no big deal and that it may not every happen again. They stated that they only way that they could fix it, is if they could duplicate it again.i am very concerned because this could've killed me but i was lucky that i was able to pull off on the side of the road. This is very dangerous and needs to be addressed.

I'm now driving a 2015 mazda cx-5 touring and i find the head restraint in my mazda is angled too far forward and is very uncomfortable, causing neck strain and pain. I like to sit upright in my car and when seated like this the head restraint forces me to angle my head down so i am looking at the dash, not out the windshield. I find that reclining the seat is the only solution but it puts me in a position that is less responsive and more sleep-inducing. Ironically, the nhtsa madate that took effect in 2008 actually makes my mazda less safe because it forces me to choose between neck strain or sitting in a less responsive, overly-relaxed position just to fix the poorly-designed head restraint angle. I drove a 1994 toyota camry for about 10 years and it had a head restraint that was adjustable for both angle and height. In 1994! please change the head restraint rules so the angle is adjustable!

Several times now, after shutting the vehicle off, exiting and upon re-entry on the drivers side, i have found the drivers seat completely reclined all the way back. I bought the vehicle brand new with 6 miles on it in illinois may of 2014, and the first incident occurred when we had less than 600 miles on it. I took it to the dealership and was told there was nothing they could do because they "could not replicate it". This happened a few times, then nothing. I drove the car to florida, and had the same issue when i came out to the car the next morning and the seat was reclined all the way back. I took it to the mazda dealership down there and was told the same thing, that "they could not find anything wrong, and could not get it to duplicate". I was detailing my car this past weekend, sitting in the drivers seat with the car off. I was cleaning the windshield and had no idea that the seat had completely reclined while i was sitting in it! my leg was no where near the side where the adjustments are. Scary that i didn't even hear the motor sound as it reclined and it was all the way back. I am short and have noticed that when i exit out the drivers side, it seems the edge of the drivers seat pushes down on the controls or something, because i can hear it click, although i don't see the seat move. I think it's poor placement of the motor inside the drivers seat. This could pose a potential hazard if one was driving. I saw there was a complaint from one other consumer that was driving when their seat folded forward. This should be looked into!

The contact owns a 2015 mazda cx-5. The contact stated that while in park with the vehicle off, the front driver's side seat reclined backwards independently. The failure recurred on numerous occasions. The vehicle was taken to a dealer who was unable to diagnose or repair the vehicle but the wiring harness and knobs were replaced. However, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 200.

I have a braking issue. When i brake my car at low speed, i rarely have any issue and my brake works well. But if i drive at a higher speed (>55mph) and brake relatively fast, i will feel like my foot is pushing on both brake and gas pedals, and my car will not slow down as it's supposed to. It feels like there is no significant force of friction between the brake pads and drums. The feeling of braking is not smooth either as if i was pushing the gas pedal at the same time. I almost hit the cars before me twice. This issue can be resolved with quick brake pedal relief and subsequent stepping on again. I may need to repeat this effort several times before it works normally. I believe there is some mechanical problem with it. I drive very carefully on high way now.

Braking i would have a braking issue everytime i drive over a little indentation (a horizontal line that is slightly on the road used for a water passage).when i drive over the water passage my vehicle would not stop and even thought i step on the brake pedal hard, it would just keep going and you can feel the brakes just slipping off the brake pad or something like that.

The front brakes on my car would not pass pa state inspection because of severe rust on the piston side of both front rotors.the outer surfaces of the rotors were fine.all of the pads were at 50% for wear.the vehicle is three years old, bought new, and has 38,000 miles of mixed driving.the dealer contacted the mazda district manager and he refused to do anything about it and considered what i had as normal wear.i replaced the rotors and pads myself and was surprised at the improvement in stopping distance.since this was happening over time, i was not aware of my loss in braking.after i replaced my brakes and personally called michael konzel, the mazda district manager, he told me that this was considered normal and not a mazda issue.i offered to send him pictures, but he said that he did not need them.the vehicle was stationary at the time, but driven daily.

My foot was solely on the brake as my car was coming to a stop in a parking space.then suddenly with no reason, the car accelerated, jumping the cement tire stopper, hit against the concrete parking column, went down a slight hill and hit another concrete parking column before stopping.the whole right side (passenger side) was completely totaled.fortunately i only had bruises and no other cars were damaged.this is a serious safety problem and should be investigated.

*dt*as

Leaving an above-ground parking garage, the city brake assist feature engaged twice, without warning. The car came to a sudden and complete stop and the wheels locked up. There were no cars or other obstacles in the vicinity that would have caused the city brake assist feature to engage. When the feature engaged, the car was going about 5 mph, on a slight downhill (the decline was simply from the parking garage), and it occurred during a straightaway section of the garage (e.g., not while going around a bend).

After the rear brakes were replaced there was a terrible grinding noise when first driving until the car warmed up.it did not happen when first replaced in the summer but when it got colder it got worse. Turned out to be the same caliper issue that was recalled in previous models but no recall for the cx-5

The contact owns a 2015 mazda cx-5. While driving 15 mph, the vehicle steered left and the contact crossed the median, sideswiping another vehicle. A police report was not filed. There were no injuries. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer (colonial mazda, 100 federal road, danbury, ct 06810) where it was diagnosed that both tie rods fractured and the steering rack failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The failure mileage was approximately 32,000.

I was parking my car in the garage last night, when i noticed a fracture line propagating from the base of the windshield (about 6 inches long).in my entire history of driving i have never seen this with a vehicle.there was no stone chip or indentation. Just a fracture line. By the next day when i got into my car, the fracture line had spread across the windshield.mazda claims high safety rating, but this is a manufacture error and poor/thin glass quality.the dealership was trying to argue and not take responsibility. This is a major safety issue!i am escalating this complaint with mazda. At the moment, i have not heard back.

I bought this car new in may. Within the first month, the car wouldn't starti bought the car in to the dealer and they replaced the batteries on the fobs. Last week, i noticed the driver's side window trim front and back doors was melting.i called the dealer, bought it in and they took pics, said they would contact mazda rep and sent me home. On saturday, i drove to a store approx. 10 miles away and when leaving for home, my car wouldn't start again. I finally got it started after multiple tries. While driving home i noticed the blind spot monitoring on the drivers side was flashingand there were no cars next to me. I left the car parked for the rest of the weekend but on sunday noticed the melted spots were worse. I contacted the dealer on monday and brought it in. They are saying something on our house or around it is causing the melting, however, my wife parks her 2015 honda cr-v next to mine and there is no melting happening to her car.all the other vehicles owned and parked in the same driveway for the past 15 years do not have this issue.i also submitted this info to mazdausa.com but have not heard back.

My lift gate failed and slammed shut. Now, the lift gate is nearly impossible for me to open and i have to hold the lift gate open myself. Otherwise it slams shut. Luckily when this happened i was not directly underneath the lift gate, i had free hands and reacted quickly enough to catch it. I did have the lift gate supports replaced already on july 1, 2017 as a result of the recall 16v644000, but it appears the replacement parts also had the issue. This is dangerous, and a little over one year is not an appropriate lifetime for these supports given the potential risk. The vehicle was parked.

Driving down the highway and heard a loud boom sound.next thing i know, pieces of the sunroof start flying off the car. Nothing was around the car and nothing hit the car. The only damage was to the sunroof glass and the glass was bubbled out, not in like you would expect if something hit it.

Both sun visors had to be replaced on my 2015 mazda cx-5.they both were constantly falling down impairing my ability to see out the front windshield.

I was driving down the interstate at normal speed at 7pm north of birmingham, al. It was dark and a couple vehicles were pretty far ahead of me. There was nothing above the car (no bridge, tree, etc.) all of a sudden, i heard what sounded like an explosion or gunshot. I got off at the nearest exit to examine the vehicle and discovered that the sunroof had exploded. The sunroof glass exploded upward and outward. The glass protruded upward and shards of glass were blown out onto the roof of my car. There was no sign of any foreign object having hit the car or sunroof. Luckily i had the shade closed; otherwise, glass shards could have been thrown inside the vehicle and injured me. The noise was so loud that i was also lucky that i didn't panic and wreck the vehicle. After doing online research and finding many similar stories, i believe the sunroof glass was flawed or installed improperly. I reported it to mazda and they told me it was environmental and that i should file it on my insurance. I told them that i consider this a safety hazard and that they should investigate it, but they refused and instructed me to file it on my insurance. When i took it to hiley mazda in huntsville al, they wrote "imploded" on their damage estimate when i very clearly told them it "exploded" outward and showed them my photos.

An interior panel (console cover) adjacent to gas pedal has come off while the car was on the road, once to my wife and once to me.it interfered with the driver's ability to lift the foot off of the gas pedal. I complained to the dealer that it appears that the panel was designed to have 3 spring clips to retain it, but the panel only had one. (my mazda cx5 has several clips on a similar part). The dealer simply snapped it back in place after the first occurrence. After the second occurrence i suggested that it was missing a retaining clip. The dealer ordered and installed a new panel. It came off while i was on the highway, once again interfering with my ability to lift my foot from the accelerator pedal.i observed that the new panel has only one retaining clip, just like the original. I consider this to be a serious design flaw posing a significant hazard, especially to an inexperienced driver.

The check engine light came on and the vehicle has 61,000 miles.the dealership determined that a new heater core is needed and there have been several service bulletins issued on this part.the error code showed po11a.the dealership wants to charge $2,367.00 to replace the heater core.mazda corporate was contacted and since the vehicle is out of warranty they are not will to assist in any way.the reference number for this complaint is 1-3153481645. The technical service bulletin said the average mileage this occurs is 39,029 miles.i realize this may not be a safety issue but this is something mazda should stand behind.there is no accident or injury associated with this.there should be a recall if the part fails this early in the life of the vehicle.

The trunk does not stay up when opening...it slammed down and hit me on the head.

While driving the lane change radar warning system indicates a vehicle when there is none. For example i can be in the right lane on a multi lane highway and the light on the side mirror will illuminate indicating a vehicle in my blind spot when there is none. It is sporadic and mostly does this on the drivers side but has also done this on the passenger side

We were driving across wyoming on the interstate with the cruise control on at 75mph.suddenly there was a violent shake in the car like the engine was locking up.we tried to pull off the highway and it did it again as we were pulling over.when we got the car stopped the check engine light was on and a message on the display that engine diagnostics were required.i called the dealer in ft collins co and my dealer in denver but they said they could not tell me what to do.i drove the car back to denver very slowly with the check engine and warning message on the dash and it ran okay.my dealer could not look at it for a week and when i took it in the warning lights had gone off.the dealer said there were no codes and nothing they could find wrong.i called mazda and they had me take it to another dealer and again there were no codes for it.we are scared to drive the car.it has sat in our garage the past couple months except for the trips to the dealer.if we had been in traffic i think we would have caused an accident.

Driver side view mirror will vibrate while driving and hard to see the objects properly in the mirror.they had the same issue on 2013-2014 vehicles.when i contact mazda dealers, they say there is no fix for that and getting away without trying to fix it.clearly it is a safety issue.

While cleaning our 2015 mazda cx-5 that was parked in our driveway, i ran the seat forward to vacuum under it. When moving it back, the left side of the seat would not budge. When we inspected all over underneath the seat we could find nothing impeding the sliding mechanism.the car had to be towed to our mechanic as it was unsafe to drive with the seat all the way forward. After some research and hard work, our mechanic was able to remove the seat and sliding component and replace the entire power slide unit (part # kdy2-88-4foa power slide lf-s ) for the driver's seat. He found that the cable to the power unit on the left side of the seat had broken. The right sideappears to be weakening as well. Through his research, our mechanic found a tsb bulletin on this exact safety issue. (tsb #09-006-16) he explained that the ntsb had told mazda to correct the problem in subsequent model years but that leaves us, and probably others, in the lurch for a safety issue that shouldn't have happened.

I received a safety recall for my vehicle and have contacted lou bachrodt mazda in coconut creek, florida, to schedule an appointment. However, no one returns my calls. The contact called lynchburg mazda who stated that they were unfamiliar with the failure.

The car accelerates to high rpm's without touching the gas pedal. As soon as car was started engine roared and could not be contained when in gear. When put in drive the car reached over 50 mph without my foot touching gas pedal. When put in neutral the rpm's were revving excessive near the top of the dial. The only thing to get the engine to stop revving was to turn the car off.i had a hard time getting the car to stop. Problem happened both in the city and on the freeway. The first time it happened it was a hot day (100 degrees outside). Car had been driven for about 2 hours and then sat for about 1.5 hours and then problem happened. Problem happened about a dozen times before being taken to the dealership. I had not used the cruise control that day and do not regularly use the cruise control. Mazda says it's a battery issue and that i need a new battery. There is no way that is the problem. I've never even had to use jumper cables on the car. I bought the car new and have only had it for two and a half years. I'm the primary driver. Car has 43,000 miles. I'm demanding that mazda replace the car with a similar age car/similar mileage and they are fighting it. I do not feel safe driving that car. I worry that i will be killed when i can't stop the car or that i will hit a pedestrian or other car and kill someone.

I have experienced intermittent problems with the steering wheel buttons, especially with regard to the cruise control (cc). Sometimes, the buttons appear to change functions with each other.here is an example:1.i am driving along on the highway, and i turn on cc ' the dash indicator appears in yellow.2.i set the cc to my current speed, the dash indicator changes to green, and my speed is regulated.3.i decide to reduce speed, so i press the minus (-) button once.4.my speed increases by about one mile per hour.5.i press minus (-) again, and i speed up another mile per hour.6.i press plus (+), and i slow down one mile per hour.7.i press cancel, and nothing happens ' the cc indicator on the dash stays green, and my speed holds at the current value.'it is possible that cancel reduces my speed by one mile per hour, but i usually don't wait long enough to find out, because i am trying to cancel!8.i press off, and the cc cancels. It is still on, but the dash indicator turns yellow, and my speed is no longer regulated (i am coasting).9.i press off several times, and nothing changes ' the dash indicator is yellow.10.no matter which button i press, i cannot shut of cc.'the dash indicator will change from green to yellow and back, but cc never shuts off.11.sometimes, i can run my thumb around the buttons in a circle, and cc starts working again, but this does not always work.12.if i shut off the car, cc will work for a while.13.if cc stops working as described, and i am on a long trip, it will sometimes start working properly again after some long period of time (30 minutes or so).i have experienced similar problems with the radio controls. I occasionally press the volume control and the station changes. Typically, this only happens once, and when i change the station back to where it was, i am able to adjust the volume again.

First incident, cracked windshield, appeared over night.started out about 8 inches long and grew to about 18 inches.i couldn't get a replacement for 2 weeks -there was no inventory.just happened again, noticed on october 5 a crack that is a foot long.again, happened while the vehicle was sitting over night in my garage.vehicle now has only 3200 miles.2 cracks in a short period of time and no inventory of replacement parts means i have to drive with poor visibility.i'm also concerned about how the windshields would hold up if there was a crash as these incidents happened with no apparent cause.

Had an incident were the passenger side window just cracked into pieces while driving down the highway. Nobody was injured but we were not sure what may have caused this (there were no cars adjacent to us and in the lanes further).

I was driving my new 2015 cx 5 grand touring today when i heard a loud pop.i looked down and saw a 24 inch crack in my windshield extending from the lower drivers side to the middle.there is no sign of a chip and the windshield appeared to be in perfect condition.after looking at this site, i noticed this is a common problem with this vehicle.the dealership indicated that because it is considered wear and tear, there is nothing they can do about this.as common as this seems to be with this vehicle i would have hoped for some assistance from mazda in addressing the issue.

On january 1/10/2015 while driving on local freeways we heard a loud pop. Neither my wife or i could see where anything struck.we thought no more of it at the time.the ambient temperature was mid-forties.car was parked overnight on my driveway.on getting in the car the next morning i saw a 13-14 inch crack had appeared, running from bottom right, passenger side and is through and through the glass and extends past gasket to bottom of glass. On inspection can see starburst below line of sight, in black bordered area.this windshield will not hold up to normal road damage and/or crash impact.

I was driving on the freeway when i heard a loud sound above me, followed by suddenly feeling wind coming into the vehicle as well as hearing glass roll off the top of the car. When i was able to safely pull over i saw that there was a huge hole in the sunroof but no other damage. There were no dents or scratches anywhere on the top of the car where i heard the sound come from. The remaining glass was angled upwards as if the glass had exploded. Luckily i had the slider under the glass closed so no glass made it inside the vehicle as i was driving. Had it not been closed it could have potentially injured myself or my two children or potentially caused a collision.

Car was parked, came out next day and found 12 in crack in windshield dealer said it was rock damage but there is no sign of any damage.

Windshielddeveloped acrack while sitting in garage. Crack spread quickly from top center of windshieldandcrack hooked back up towards top approximately12 inches long. Windshieldwas fine the day before . No rocks of items hit windshield.

This complaint is about 2015 mazda cx-5 design problem when one or botjh rear windows are open: the problem is when one or both are down a few inches or more a very loud thumping noise with feeling of pulsing air causing very uncomfortable hearing & potential of headaches if windows not closed immediately. Front windows usually up but can be opened a few inches and thumping still very loud.this situation happens at speeds above 25 mph & worse on highways. This same problem reported to nhtsa on 9/19/2014, with i.d. #10637592. As other complaint noted mazda is aware of problem a long time ago & supposedly has not done any proactive steps to fix it. They supposedly have a kit consumers can purchase. I would not have purchased car if problem was known ahead of time or happened during test drive. Mazda is not being truthful to consumers and must be held accountable for this cover up.they should recall all effected models & apply fix. I hope the nhtsa does a survey of all purchased cx-5 since 2013 to find out true number of consumers impacted. It would be nice to open windows as needed to let inside heat out or to see to outside as needed for safety without being subjected to thumping sounds that do hurt hearing & cause for headaches. Tk

Traveling on the freeway i heard a pop sound and right away noticed a horizontal crack from the driver side of the windshield. Cracked turned out to be about 15 inches long. Reading from these post makes it a fact that the windshields of the cx5 are defective. What's the next step?

Car sat for approx 4 hours while visiting relatives, on my home i noticed a crack approx 8-10" long in the middle of the windshield, from the base under the wipers up towards the middle of the windshield curving towards the drivers side at almost a 90 degree angle at the end.there are no marks that look like anything hit the windshield, it's a straight clean crack.i'm hoping the dealer will cover it but from what i've read it doesn't look good.i would think there should be a recall on the windshields, if they are cracking like this for no apparent reason, or because of weather changes, or because you're washing your car on a hot day, i can only imagine what would happen to them if the cars are actually in an accident, they would never withstand the impact and shatter to a million pieces!how safe is that?the should definitely be recalled and replaced with better made windshields.

I bought my mazda cx5 new a 2015 model year and experienced a thumping noise when we slightly put rear windows down.it wasn't just a noise though, the pressure in the car changed and caused both my husband and myself headaches.i have reported it to the service manager at the dealer we bought it from and they said the manufacturer is aware of it and they have a fix for it but you have to purchase it from them to get rid of the noise.i have read of the same complaint regarding the 2013 and 2014 years.if i had known about this problem and the fact that all the manufacturer will do is charge for a fix instead of fixing it two years ago, i would not have purchased this car.i don't think rolling down the rear window should cause pain. I have owned this car one whole day.

The contact owns a 2015 mazda cx-5. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 50 mph, the sunroof suddenly exploded. During the failure, the sunroof was closed and a loud explosion had occurred. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer (eldorado mazda located at2150 n. Central express way mckinney tx) but the cause of the failure was not determined. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was not yet notified. The failure mileage was 77,000. Invalid vin.

Have had the car for approximately a month and have gotten 2 large chips in the windshield from unheard and unseen objects.upon attempt to repair by glass repair company the windshield proceeded to crack over 15 inches.i am replacing the windshield with non oem glass as there appears to be an issue with the oem glass considering the multiple reports by other owners.

Vehicle parked.got into vehicle and noticed large crack in windshield.the crack was not there 2 hours earlier when i got out of it.the crack starts at top center in the front windshield and runs down to the rear view mirror and forms a 's' shape and stops beneath the mirror.it is about 18 inches long. The rear view mirror is attached to a panel that has rain sensor and smart stop tech package attached to center of windshield right under where the crack appears.this is a safety concern and expensive to replace.i am seeing evidence of many more similar cracks appearing under the tech package mount on the front center windshield.

2 weeks after the purchase of a new 2015 mazda cx5 we noticed a crack in the windshield.exactly on the top portion of the windshield in the middle coming down to a t.we took the car to the dealer of purchase and a service employee looked at it started digging in a spot and stated that a rock must of hit the windshield because he found a hole.not satisfied with that answer the supervisor for the service department was called and upon looking at the windshield he pointed to a complete different spot and then pointed to a third spot that he claimed was a hole.how does a windshield of a brandnew car never on the expressway have 3 impact spots that are exactly in the middle of the windshield and with that refused to pay for the replacement.since the windshield is not available anywhere but the dealership i am no responsible for the repair of something that was a defect.

Cracked windshieldwe were filling up gas at a gas station & suddenly we heard a pop sound. I tried to go around the car & see what happened but did not notice anything. The car was still pumping gas when this happened.next day, there was nothing in the morning but after parking at work for couple hours & coming back to the car, we noticed a big crack on the screen.

My car has hydroplaned twice in the past six months.the first time, i was coming around a curve in light rain and the back tires slipped. I felt as if they completely lost traction.i was able to correct and keep from causing an accident. I visually inspected my tires and they still looked brand new. This occurred at about 22,000 miles.my speed was about 15 miles an hour.i then had a second incident at about 26,000 miles. This was experienced in heavy rain on the highway at about 60 miles per hour. My car again lost traction and went completely into the lane next to me. It was as if it lifted and went left, both back and front tires. I avoided collision because there was no car next to me. I have had tires rotated every 5000 miles and all maintenance as required to vehicle. When taken to flow mazda i informed them of the problem. They said there was more wear on front than back tires which makes no sense due to required rotation being done. They were not helpful or concerned. I don't know if this is a car issue or tire issue. I cannot drive a vehicle that is hydroplaning.

. The tires that it has are the ones that came originally with the car when i purchased brand newin may 2014. The car has only 12k miles.the incident happened this last sunday (1/10/16) at around 1:30pm. I was returning with my family from a school soccer game. I was driving on the i-95 at around 50mph in the express lanes. Suddenly we heard a loud noise, we were not sure if it was coming from the car, the radio, a nearby truck or even an app from my kids' tablet. At the same time my car started losing traction and vibrates, but luckily i was able to control it and decelerate carefully. I was able to stop in one the sides of the highway, and then i exited the car and took a look of what happened. And then it was when i discovered the scary situation. The passenger rear tire (yokohama geolandar g91) was completely destroyed as shown in the photo that i sent you. That happened without cause. There was not any debris or anything in the highway and the road was clear. The weather was nice too, it had been raining a few minutes before, but it was clear at the time of the accident. After i saw the tire, i realized of the lucky that we were

After making a right hand turn, there was a sudden loud noise. The car then came to a sudden stop on it's own. Upon inspection, the lower control arm ball joint and axle detached from the front passenger tire while the car was in motion.
