1999 mazda b400 was involved in a direct frontal impact, totaling the truck, and niether air bag deployed.

I was making a left hand turn into a parking lot, slid on some gravel and struck the right front rim of my truck on the curb.the airbags deployed, warped the steering wheel, destroyed the horn and caused over $2500 dollars of damage to my vehicle.no body damage occurred to the vehicle.my question is, is this normal.

Consumer was in a front end angled accident at 45mph, hit the rear passenger's side of the other vehicle, and driver's or passenger's air bags did not deploy.dealer nas been contacted.

Windshield wipers come on spontaneously while driving at all speeds (mph); also steering wheel locked up after windshield wipers eon at speed of 65mph pulling car to right resulting in crash. The airbags on the driver side and the passenger side failed to deploy.

Vehicle sustained extensive frontal damage at a impact estimated at 30-40mph that resulted in state farm insurance deeming the vehicle a total loss. My son was the driver of the vehicle and he received a broken nose and is going to require surgery and is having headaches . Neither of the airbags: driver or passenger did deploy!!! if any futher information regarding this is needed as to current location of vehicle etc. Please feel free to contact me at anytime. When i called mazda corporation by phone i was basically told that "they do not look into things like this". I am convienced if the airbags would have operated properly my son 's injuries would have been much less and may not have received any injury at all. Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Differential sensor failed during driving.at 55 mph the transmission would not move the truck in drive.after finally stopping the truck i discovered that the truck would not move in drive 1, but it would move in drive 2, speedometer didn't work, the abs light stayed on.

Possible electrical system failure caused the starter to run regardless of the key position (shut off after 5-7 minutes) vehicle would not start and towing was necesary, ac compressor will not shut off regardless of control settings.nlm

I went to the truck in the morning to find that there had been an electrical fire sometime between 11pm and 8am in the morning. The fire melted about 70% of the dashboard including the instrument panel, cracked the windshield, and melted the interior molding next to the drivers seat.

Many times reported and the dealer can't seem to find the problem? when at a stop truck will idel down low and when to accelerate truck loses power. Now i have a problem with my abs brake light comes on and after having that check they said i need to have this replace (after only having 27,861miles)and after many complaints to mazda dealer and mazda corp, they now feel that i would be responsiable for this repair and not them. Explain that this should not have gone out (abs) at this mileage, and the way this vehicle has run since i had purchased it new.i now feel that this a safety issue with my abs braking system and still having to use my vehicle to get to work and back knowing that soon this may not work when needed! please take the time to review my work orders with mazda and related issues with other complaints that they just can't seem to find the problems when i make apointments to have them fixed.i feel that my complaint is with safety issues and would like them to have this fixed.can you help me in this matter? do not know who to contact anymore, and mazda had a rep look over my work order and siad that they will have don from where i had purchased from (mazdavillage) in clearwater to contact me about having this fixed. But nothing is going to be done? please advise.thank you, bruce m. Ferguson

This complaint is in reference to sb615642 (engine ping). I had this problem from the first day that i drove my truck off the lot. I took the vehicle back to the dealer on several occasions only to be told each time that they either could'ntduplicate the discrepancy or blamed it on the gas i was using. I finally got tired of the run around and took matters into my own hands. What i found was that, according to my service manual, the factory had installed the wrong type spark plugs. The factory had installed "platinum" type plugs on one side of the engine and "regular" plugs on the other side. I cross referenced the platinum plugs and found that they were intended for a 4.0 liter engine. I have no idea what the regular plugs were intended for. Probably left overs from ford's pinto assembly line. Anyway, armed with this evidence, i returned to the dealer and demanded that the correct spark plugs for my truck be installed. After first accusing me of tampering with the vehicle they relented and installed the correct spark plugs. That was a week ago and the engine has been running fine since. I'm bringing this issue to your attention because i believe this to be a prevelant problem (if internet message boards are any indication) toowners of mazda b3000's and ford rangers. Both with the 3.0 liter engines.thank you

Engine idles at @3500 rpms intermintently

Gas tank leaks through rear side plug of tank.this happened after fuel pressure taken at time of safety inspection.

The contact owns a 1999 mazda b4000.ever since the vehicle was purchased, the fuel filter has not properly fit the quick connector.the contact has called the dealer more than six times concerning this failure.the dealer stated that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign id number 06e056000 (fuel system, gasoline).the failure mileage was 161,000.

Backed vehicle onto ramps to get underneath and replace speed sensor in the differential. Vehicle rolled off steep end of ramps, bouncing about 8 inches. As a result of either the repair or the bounce, the vehicle has a strong gasoline smell and a diagnostic p0455 (eecs large leak). While investigating noticed that the vehicle apparently does not have the metal skid pad under the gas tank, and never did. Eecs canister appears to be just in front of the spare tire, also nonstandard. Beginning to think i was sold some sort of lemon. Car was purchased new, also has the intermittent wiper and pinging problems others have reported.

Fuel system shut down while driving on highway.

Engine developed rough idle at approx. 12000 miles.dealer says fuel problems, however i have tried several gas stations and the problem continues.engine experiences slight hesitation on take off from stop.also engine has stalled when truck is in drive possibly due to slow and rough idle.have also experienced surging upon vigorous acceleration.

The contact owns a 1999 mazda b4000.the contact stated that the interior lighting in his vehicle would illuminate intermittently.the failure forced him to pull over while driving various speeds.he removed the bulbs.in addition, the lights would not turn off when the door was closed, which could have potentially worn down the battery.the manufacturer stated that they would take his complaint, but offered no further assistance.the current mileage was approximately 148,000 and failure mileage was approximately 80,000.updated 05/14/09.*ljthe consumer was informed the problem was a faulty door switch.

Emergency parking brake locked up, causing vehicle to lose control. Please provide further information.

Mitsubishi b3000 truckautomatic transmission failure. The consumer noticed a rough shifting in the transmission while driving the vehicle.after taking the vehicle back to the dealer to no avail the consumer went online and found numerous complaints against mazda trucks ( b3000 4x4) being defective. The consumer contacted mazda and was told his truck went out of warranty the day he purchased it and it was nothing they could do.*tc

#1 at approximately 1000 miles the diferential pinion gears were replaced due to a grinding noise from the rear end, #2 at 9,500 miles i took the truck back to the dealer and complained of noises in the rear end and front end vibration. They disregarded the noises in the rear end and replaced the two front tires.since then there have been several attempts by mazda to balance the front tires, i still have the vibration in the front during normal driving.18 october 1999 with approximately 12,000 miles on the vehicle, i toook it back, this time there is a very distinctive noise from the rear end and front end vibration.mazda ordered a complete rear axle assy and once again balanced the front tires.i was told by service manager that the truck is safe to drive.note: the rear axle assembly will move abour one inch from side to side when i shake the rear tires. I beleive the front end problems are being caused by the rear axle assembly floating when the vehicle is driven.( dot number: w2uu tire size: p225/70r15 )

In hot ambient temperatures, florida, after my 1999 mazda b3000 has sat in the parking lot forthe day,the clutch and brake master cylinders failed to function correctly, it is as if when i step on the clutch the fluid bleeds by the o rings and the clutch fails half way to the floor, the same with the brakes, when you step on the brakes, the fluid is leaking past the o rings in the master cylinder, making a gurgling/aerating sound.after you have driven a few miles and air flow over the affected components cools the components, the brake noise almost disappears, and the clutch will sometimes come back to full position, mostly though it will only come back up to half position. When you park the vehicle in the shade or in a cool area, or in the winter, this does not happen.my question, was there a defective batch of o rings and is there a recourse for maufacturers investigation and subsequent repair.

Although therewas a repair made for this problem, it is still not fixed as of 8/23/1999.an additional tsb was installed but still no difference.the beat goes on.

The driveshaft or clutch unit has a loud popping noise as i come out of reverse and shift into 1st. Sometimes it is loud enough to sound like a u-joint but i have checked them. Mechanic at a dealership told me the driveshft has a sleeve on it and this is what i am hearing. But i am not convinced this is the problem.

This truck is manufactured by ford, it is identical to the ford rangerwith the exception of a few exterior body panels. This truck has a mechanical flaw in the drive line that feels as if the transmission bounces or "thumps up and down" when moderately accelerating from a stand still. My service center has attempted 4 repairs as per mazda service bulletins, all have failed.each time i contact my service center regarding a repair solution i am told the same thing"mazda is working on a fix". I have contacted mazda customer service numerous times and gained no information. I have been researching the characteristics of this defect. In a very short period of time i have located other ford ranger owners with the same problem, some models dating back to 1994. When they turned to ford for a repair, they too were put aside. What alarms me is nhtsa has many bulletins where ford acknowledges my same complaint, some bulletins dating back to 1997 model year. I firmly believe that ford has sold 100's to 1000's of ranger and ranger equivalents with this design defect as first quality, while knowing they are not. Today, sept. 18,2000 a mazda representative has contacted me for the first time since this problem began. He said they do not know how to fix it. I need help in directing ford to aknowledge this problem and release a fix. I have tolerated this defective vehicle for 25000 miles andi am approaching the end of my warranty. Another concern of mine is what long term effect this will have on other related components. Please help in anyway possible.

The drivetrain of my truck seems to have slack in it. When i slow to a stop it "clunks". Wheni accelerate away from a stop it "clunks" back in the opposite direction. I took it to diamnod mazda and they changed part of the drive shaft and that corrected it for a few weeks but it is back to doing it now. I called back and they said they could not fix it? i contacted mazda customer service and they said they knew about the problem but did not have a fix. They do not appear to be too concerned about the problem. I would give them back the truck under the lemon law since it has been to the shop 3 times for the same issue and it is not resolved but the laws in louisiana are not in my best interest.

Vehicle is experiencing transmission problems, consumer found out that the first owner had the transmission replaced, transmission is continuing to malfunction.

Shift knob has come off when shifting from 1 to 2 in middle of a shift in a couple of situations, causing missed shifts, and the vehicle to decelerate rapidly in the middle of traffic, causing a dangerous situation.the knob is only held in place by an axial press spleen, with no real means of retaining the knob in place such as a set screw.

A trw seat buckle has failed in a 1999 mazda b3000. The buckle will not retainthe latch. The buckle failed on nov. 19, 2009. The mazda was taken to mazda dealership for resolution. Dealership issued repair ticket of approximately $250.00. No buckle was in inventory to replace at that time.

My frame is completely rusted out. I went to get the truck inspected and my mechanic said the frame was very thin. He said that it may not even last another year and that next year if he does inspection the frame make break while on the lift!i live in maine and have taken care of the truck, washing it regularly. Seems like other people have had the same issue. This is unsettling. The truck is is in great shape otherwise. I wish i could get more miles out of it. Seems like such a waste.... .only 97,000 miles on it.

Frame is rusted threw at rear left spring shackle bracket along with rear spring shackles. Is mazda addressing this as toyota did? i understand this is common mazda trucks and ford rangers.

Vehicle frame is cracked/rusted, strut mounts rusted, fuel tank tie down rusted.

Entire truck body frame is rusting out, fuel tank brackets rusted out, seat cushion support on drivers side broken

Wind tunnel affects drivingand rain is coming throughdriver's door. Truck had been previously damaged and repaired, unknown to the owner--fender and door are out of alignment, and there is a gap between driver door and body, allowing rain and wind to come in. The right front door on this truck does not sound tight when it is closed. (i originally reported lest, wrong door.) the door does not sound"sound" when it is shut.the sound is a tinny sound, almost as if insulation hade been left out or whatever product is used between the doors....

Right front door difficult to open-it sticks frequently, and then reluctantly opens.i notified dealer during prepurchase for repair- at time of sale was told they ludricated it and that it would get better as the vehicle broke-in.the problem initially did get better, but now it's worse than before.

10 years in northeast pennsylvania have caused little to no rust on 3 other ford vehicles in the family, but my truck got hit with an extreme case of rust. No major offroading or mudding, no jumping/abusing the truck whatsoever. Toyota recalled the frames of their pickups, and i *believe* that ford got their frames from the same steel manufacturer. I speculate that steel manufacturer, and/or ford, did not "dip" these frames in any anti-rust formula.frame rust/rot/cracking on a 1999 mazda b4000 4x4 (the truck is/was made by ford, 98% the same as a ford ranger). Rear leafspring shackles fully corroded and extreme rust around sparetire carrier. Seems to be a problem with the late 90's - early 2000's rangers.new rear leaf spring shackles were added in place of the rotted out shackles. Frame was welded on 2 different occasions at rear upper shock mount where frame cracked. It is now cracked again. The truck has never been through any abuse. It's been primarily a highway vehicle in the family.

I have a 99' mazda b 3000 w/42,000 mi.was driving the truck home from work, heard a noise from the rear.checked bed then underneath.discovered a large crack in the truck's frame below the shock tower, with a lot of rustthe truck can no longer be driven.

Truck veres suddenly to the left and nearly takes the steering wheel out of your hand. Took truck to dealer they said nothing was wrong with the suspension. Truck contionus to suffer this violent jerk of the wheel forces the truck into the left lane of traffic each time the right front wheel hits a hard bump in the road. I never heard from the manafacture on the compliant i am lead to believe this truck is unsafe. Any help you can provide will be appreaciated thank you.

These tires have not yet failed in an external sense. They have begun to make a growling sound that was not present earlier.i had them checked this summer when the original recall was issued for different tire sizes and they were judged allright. This is about an already existing recall for mazda 1998-2002 b-series cruise control deactivation switch safety recall 4707h. I have spoken with mazda representative several times. The problem is that they are telling me to take my truck down to the nearest dealer and they will fix the problem. That is fine except the nearest dealer to me is over 200 miles away. According the letter i got it states there is a possibility of an underhood fire. I don't feel it is safe to be driving my truck that far if it could result in a fire. I have tried repeatedly just to get the part sent to me when it becomes available and i will have it fixed locally. Mazda refuses to send the part saying that the nhtsa will only allow mazda dealerships to install the part. If this is true there are plenty of people in my situation who just are not going to get the problem fixed and continue driving there trucks with this problem because the distance to the nearest dealer is to great and doesn't make sense when the part could be shipped directly to them and installed by a qualified ase mechanic. All i would like is to have the replacement part sent to me. After all it was the manufacturer's mistake and i am the one who is suffering from it.

I had a recall notice from the dealer the cruise control deactivation switch on my truck.i took it to a dealership in tuscaloosa alabama, where they replaced it, but let the wires just hanging loose in the engine, very sloppy work, also prior therecall the switch burnt out melting the cruise control button on the steering wheel, they said they don't cover that even though the switch they recalled causedit.

Consumer received a recall letter . Originally another dealer sold the business to present dealer. Consumer calleddealer, and he said parts were not in,and to call back in a few months. Consumer caleed back on 15th of nov 1999, dealer said they would put in order. Dealer now is telling consumerthat they need a specific vin #. Consumer feels dealer should have said this from the beginning.consumerhas not been able to use cruise control since july because the recall letter said it may stick .
