Takata recall: i was informed about the takata recall in july 2016, one year ago.a copy of the recall notice is attached. Lincoln claims they do not have the parts to repair the passenger frontal air bag. They do not know when they will get the parts.since the airbag inflator my rupture in a crash, i have a risk of a serious accident. A lincoln customer support agent told me that my vehicle has a low risk of the inflator rupturing since the risk depends on the age of the vehicle. My zephyr is almost 12 years old. Shouldn't lincoln be repairing 2006 zephyrs?what is the risk of a dangerous rupture?

Takata recall - in june 2016, i received a notice in the mail about the following issue with my 2006 lincoln zephyr: the passenger frontal airbag inflator could rupture if the vehicle is involved in a crash where the supplemental frontal airbags are designed to deploy. This defect report is in response to takata dirs 16e-042, 16e-043, 16e-044. I then received another notice in december 2017 saying that the remedy parts have been delayed but may be available in spring 2018, for certain vehicles. The notice also warns owners that allowing anyone to sit in the first row passenger seat could cause the air bag inflator to rupture during a crash and could also cause injuries or death. I'm filing a complaint because not being able to have anyone sit in the front row passenger seat has been an inconvenience and this issue hasn't not been resolved within a timely manner.
A couple years ago, we received a notice about the air bags. We were told that our dealer would contact us when they could correct the problem. We've heard nothing from them. A few months ago fmco sent another warning about how dangerous the air bags were and we should avoid having passengers in the front passenger seat. Still no contact regarding repair. This is ridiculous!
"takata recall"..in july of 2016, i was notified that my vehicles takata air bag was faulty and needed to be replaced. That was 16 months ago.it is very disturbing to know that if you have an accident, you may be seriously injured by metal fragments emitted from the device.furthermore, i asked several lincoln dealer employees, about the air bag recall situation, many replied that they are still waiting for something to be done for their vehicles airbags also.i am 84 years old, i have owned 4 lincoln cars.it is irresponsible of your company to wait over a year (16 months in my case) to not remedy a potential mechanical hazard in your product.if you have an accident, you might survive it, but the air bag will likely kill you.unless i hear a great reason for this pitifully long wait for replacement, i plan to sue your takata company and also the ford motor company for negligence and malicious neglect.best regards

Takata recallthe airbags covered in this recall have not been made available by the lincoln motor company. This leaves my car at risk which leaves the possibility for injury or death in the future. The deadline for a claim in the takata bankruptcy is december 27, 2017. All affected cars should have the same opportunity to file suit in the case of death or injury. I would like to request that the takata bankruptcy hearing be postponed until all affected cars have been offered the opportunity to have the defective airbag replaced.
Dealership (hawk ford of oak lawn) still does allow to make an appointment for recall. They keep saying they do not have the parts. Have been calling for over 6 months to schedule an appointment.
Takata recallpoor customer service and lack of humanity as ford and lincoln refuse to provide loaner vehicles for all of their customers who are affected by this. Our family has endured almost 1 1/2 years of mental stress worrying about getting into a simple fender bender because it could potentially cause serious injury or death as result of a lifesaving device that could in fact kill the driver and/or passengers. Even the insurance companies would not assist in paying for a rental vehicle as a proactive approach to avoid a potential catastrophic event. Our society is obsessed with money and greed, we no longer look out for each other. Still waiting for our vehicle to be repaired in michigan.

Takata recall: i've been waiting for takata and ford to fix this serious and dangerous airbag problem for well over a year. Every time i contact the lincoln dealership i get the same answer..."they haven't shipped us the parts yet."are they waiting for the car to become obsolete or do they figure that it's cheaper to pay for a 'loss'? now i've heard that takata settled with some car companies but not with ford! this situation has to be rectified.
Takata recall: received a notice via mail in regards to this recall. Tried to call the phone numbers listed for claims (free airbag replacement) and got nowhere. It's a prerecorded message that gives you no option to speak to anyone about having your airbags replaced.

In car accident on dec 12, 2019. Upon impact. Severe pain caused from air bag deployment. Myself and my son when both hit in the face. My car was completely totaled due to air bag deployment . My car was turned a little to the right to avoid full blown rear impact coming up over hill. Was on a city street and my steering wheel was broken in half. I am receiving recall on air bags 40 days after accident occurred. My car was a total loss. I have been driving a rental at cost to me for almost 6 weeks now.
Since 2 years ago ford recalled these airbags and do nothing!i went to 2 dealers lincoln in my area because i received letter from ford stating that they will pay for a rental car up to 45$/day until this recalled car is done and none of dealers wanted to provide a rental car-both said that is not worthed and i will lose money if i rent. This car is dangerous and all of them turned me away.ford send a letter stating that they will cover up to 45$ / a day for a rental.riverhead ny dealer said i have to rent through them w hertz a ford vehicle to qualify for this rental or another car up to 30$/day max because ford will not pay!!! i found this weird and went to second lincoln dealer brigh bay lincoln in bay shore ny. Here story was a little changed: "you can rent through us w hertz any car up to 45$/day but you have to pay in advance a month for the rental and after to submit to ford your rental expense and they will decide if they pay or not!!!!??? also you have to take this car with recall to your place and sign an affidavit that you will not use the car until is fixed!!! i ask why they don't keep the recalled car to them and said : no room! these guys at ford lincoln i think they do all they can not to give out another car and prefer that we risk our lives! maybe i should sue them!
I took my vehicle to future ford lincoln of concord 888-415-4242 and they did not fix my recall. They said they did not have the parts and could not do it

Brand new 2006 lincoln zephyr. Electric doors do not lock until a speed of 15-18 mph is reached. Ford's manual states: "doors lock at 12 mph". Dealer could not fix it. Contacted ford. They consider it a "non issue" and closed the file. I find this a safety hazard since it takes a long time in busy commute traffic to gain this speed.
Driving down interstate and check engine light started flashing and car lost power.called dealer and they said the light was an engine malfunction.stated not to drive it.got it towed to repair shop.when they diagnosed car they stated the pcm module went out and was sending uninterrupted electricity to engine coils and surprised the car didn't start on fire.they also stated the pcm module was in its 13th design as they have had problems with this before and lincoln had a technical service bulletin as it has been common.
2006 lincoln zephyr. Consumer writes in regards to vehicle smells of fumes while driving *tgwthe consumer also stated there was a smell of burning rubber and fire coming from under the vehicle, throughout the passenger cabin and through the cracks between the hood and fender wheel. He noticed the vehicle was knocking and running rough, so he turned it off. He then lifted the hood, and discovered smoke pouring out of the motor.the vehicle was towed to a repair shop. An inspection revealed a bad coil went bad on the motor, which caused the engine roughness. The coil had melted severely. The repair shop informed the consumer, the coil would not connect with the computer. The repair shop informed the consumer, the dealership would need to program it. The dealer informed the consumer five more coil needed to be replaced as well as the computer.
The pcm/ecm module went out on this vehicle without any warning. There were several tsb's issued by ford regarding this issue dating back to at least 2013 with absolutely no notification to owners whose lives are at risk (see list below). This module is the main computer, so all power was lost after the check engine light begun rapidly flashing non-stop and the vehicle was shaking aggressively on the highway while driving. To add insult to injury the repair is estimated at nearly $4000 because all sparks plugs, all ignition coils must be replaced along with the throttle body. (tsb numbers related to this issue are as follows: nhtsa id #10052190, nhtsa id #10109070, nhtsa id #10048099)

The problem is re-occurring.when the weather goes below freezing ice builds up around the electronic throttle body.the car will start and as the engine starts to heat up the ice starts to break up.as soon as i have taken the car past 25mph and i let off the gas the engine starts to stall out sending an error signal to the computer and the wrench light comes on.i must say that the problem is very random and does not always occur.i have learned from experience that i must pull over and turn off the car.turning off the car causes the computer to reset and the wrench light turns off and the car goes back to normal.i am upset because after i took the car to my local dealer they told me that nothing was wrong and that in order for them to fix the problem i would have to drive the car in with the wrench light still on.in reality, this means that i would have to drive with a fuel starved stalling engine to the dealership and i would have to keep the car running until somebody came to help.as soon as i turn off the car the problem no longer exists.i have read many other online posts and blogs from other lincoln and ford owners describing the same issue.i hope that ford can acknowledge this problem.i am very frustrated.

I was leaving my doctors on february 21,2019 i walked out to parking lot to start and it made a noise that i didn't recognize so it finally started after 3 attempts so when i got going it had rough it was fine when i left the house with it but on my way the check engine light came on so i decided to stop and have it checked the scan showed 3 cylinders 4 /5/6 misfiring so i replaced the coils and spark plugs but what caused the problemwas it that the timing chain had jumped time causing the cylinders to misfire and also loose power it died in traffic twice on my way home causing a serious accident.i was on a public street with lots of traffic.

The contact owns a 2006 lincoln zephyr. While driving approximately 55 mph, the vehicle suddenly hesitated to accelerate. The failure recurred intermittently. The contact later noticed smoke coming from under the vehicle while driving. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The mechanic advised the contact that the fifth engine coil had melted and caused a small engine fire. The mechanic replaced the spark plug and the coil. After the repair the failure continued. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The technician advised the contact that the pcm was damaged during the fire and would have to be replaced and recalibrated. All of the coils would have to be replaced as well. The vehicle was repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 93,000. ... Updated 02/28/13
This car has a engine and transmission from a ford fusion, its shifting violently and is not safe. The transmission built for this vehicle is very poor craftsmanship and no recall was made. Several vehicles have been affected by the lack of quality control at ford.
While the vehicle was running, but parked, the a/c suddenly stopped working.air continued to blow, but it was hot instead of cool.diagnostic report says the acet sensor failed.repair was declined due to cost ($550).now, even without any climate controls engaged, the panel gets very hot when the car is running.if the seat a/c is engaged, it will work until the panel gets hot, then it won't work anymore.if the failed acet sensor is responsible for the overheating behind the climate control panel, it may be a safety issue and not just a comfort issue.

Recently have had a trunk ajar msg on the instrument panel when the trunk lid is secure.at night after rolling up windows and locking the car the interiors lights are not shutting off(this has happen twice). Had to disconnect the battery. Upon letting the windows down today 8-7-15 found the seat had returned to the full front position -by its self. It had done this before after turning the engine off 3 or 4 times.upon driving and coming home.the driver seat has not reset itself while driving so far.my main concern is the interior lights are not shutting off at present.hope its linked to the trunk lid sensor or whatever it is.have a service appt.. The traction control light comes on all the time. When you take off the car is gutless no power. Until you hit traction control off. Sometimes does it after. Bit. Someone almost hit me pulling out from the gas station last night again, due to no power! it also messes with the shifting due to the traction control ive put everything into my car. This is a huge problem due to the fact it can mess with the transmission and engine throwing off the timing. This should be recalled, ive seen many people complaining about the exact samething. Then there's the brakes which are new but yet the pedal has to be pushed almost to the floor to come to complete stop.
The car has 82,000 miles on it.the throttle position sensor seems to be acting up. After researching this issue on the net, it appears this has been an issue since 04 with fords.in addition, they are on the 3rd generation sensor.i was driving normal speeds, then the warning light came on, killing the power to the engine, put me in a precarioussituation on a 45 50 mile an hr road. Since this known issue since 04, seems like ford should replace this.it's a 20 dollar part, retail, but with this motor, you have to buy a totally rebuilt throttle body for 200+.it is dangerous because it can slow the car right down as you are driving.if you shut the motor off, it 'repairs' itself and works normally.

2006 lincolnzephyr. Consumer writes to express discontent with quality of service at ford company *tgwthe consumer stated doors would not lock and there was a rattle sound coming from behind the dash.
In november 2008 i purchased a 2006 lincoln zypher with 28000 miles. At this time the passenger back interior door handle was broken. The dealer argued with me but fixed the item. One year later in the fall of 2009, the drivers side back seat handle also broke and would not open from the inside. Passengers had to roll down the window and pull the handle from the outside to open the door. If the car is not running you are trapped. Feb 2012, the drivers side handle also broke, last night march 30 2012 the passenger handle broke. I just spent two hours online and found nearly 1400 other ford/lincoln owners claiming the same malfunction of the interior door handles becoming disabled. If the vehicle has no power you are unable to exit if the window is up. This seems to be a huge safety issue. Ford/lincoln needs to repair the broken handles and change the design or increase the quality. I guess someone will have to die first before the company takes responsiblity for their cheap unsafe design and mechanical failure.
While driving on a tollway at approximately 65-70 mph, we suddenly lost all engine power, and were unable to speed up to our exit.enough power was generated to allow us to exit the tollway.we were extremely lucky that no cars were following us, and thanks to god no trucks were on either side of our car when this occurred. We were able to slowly reach our destination. The car is now at a repair shop awaiting information from the nearest lincoln dealer.his computer testing so far does not indicate any problems.
Car speeds and slows down on its own on highways and side streets it is very dangerous

The manufacturer was not notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 124,000.

When accelerating the vehicle hesitates ,makes a loud clunking noise and whines like the gear is stuck shifts veryhard which causes the the vehicle to lose power causing speed to go to a crawl, which is very very dangerous in any traffic especially, when i m on the highway and in interstate traffic. This happens very frequently.
This car has a engine and transmission from a ford fusion, its shifting violently and is not safe. The transmission built for this vehicle is very poor craftsmanship and no recall was made. Several vehicles have been affected by the lack of quality control at ford.
Car constantly speeds up and slows down during shifting process. It is unsafe because it happens on highways and streets it almost caused multiple accidents. I have been terrified to even drive this car. This happens every time the car is driven
The car accelerates and loses speed on side street and highways. This is very dangerous because of loss of speed control.
2006 lincoln zephyr:transmission began failing at 35,000 miles.extremely harsh shifting from second to third gear.no acceleration when driving uphill causes safety hazard as speed cannot be maintained.extremely harsh shifting and sometimes unable to shift gears at all.found a technical service bulletin pinpointing the problem to a main valve body defect.ford/lincoln dealer is requesting a total transmission replacement which costs over $4,000.
The contact owns a 2006 lincoln zephyr. The contact stated that when up shifting, the vehicle would not respond to higher gears and would begin jerking abnormally. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was informed that the transmission was defective and would need replacing. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact called the manufacturer did not provide any assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 24,000 and the current mileage was approximately 26,500.
Im filing this complaint due to having issues with my 06 lincoln zephyr. While driving my passenger side air bag light turned on and in order to get the light to turn off i had to turn off my vehicle and restarted it but the light has not come back on since then. Im also having problems with my passenger side a/c seat climate control randomly turning off completely on its own. Im also having issues with my a/c blowing hot air and i was told it's a sensor deep in the dash that cost approximately $25.00 but the labor is $500.00 plus. I need to find out if there are any recalls for the 2006 lincoln zephyr v6 3.0.

The unit never ran for more than 30 minutes and when down from there to 15 min then 5 min then not at all. Brake peddle goes to the floor after abs is activated.in my case trying to stop in the snow.this is the second time this has happened.first time with 51318 miles, second with 62700 miles.the internet in full of people complaining about the anti-lock brake pump failing which causes the brake peddle to go to the floor.i have another to add to that list.with this being a $1000+ fix and seeing how many have had this problem it is understandable why we believe this should be a recall.

What is the time frame for repairs at this date. Is there progress being made? at this time brakes are working ok
Ford is recalling my vehicle under 19s54.ford knows of 15 crashes related to this problem but the recall notice says the vehicle is safe to drive until the parts are available.how can the vehicle be safe to drive if ford knows of 15 crashes related to the issue?ford should supply a rental car until they are able to fix the problem.
Recieved recall notice in january 2020 indicating parts availability by the end of first quarter.still waiting, dealer is stone walling information.complaint #111321247 filed and still no contact from lincoln or additional information.when abs operates, braking is almost non existent and takes several days for the brake pedal travel to come back to normal.braking does not appear to be normal!!! stopping on snow.

I have a 2006 lincoln zephyr and the dashboard has become terribly warped which has caused my window defroster to not operate properly. This is suppose to be a luxury car and the dashboard is an intricate part that houses the instrument panel. Lincoln/ford should recall these vehicles and fix the problem. So far the only other problem i've experience was with the steering which was repaired under my warranty.
The front dashboard is continually peeling up. It has become warped and i'm afraid it may completely peel up while i'm driving. I wholeheartedly feel that these automobiles should be recalled and the problem dealt with appropriately. Lincolns are suppose to be upscaled american luxury cars so how do they produced such a car with mediocre workmanship? i've priced new front dashboards and they can range in the $1200-$1500 range, used $300-$400 without installation. I love my lincoln but this is unacceptable. Someone needs to address this problem before someone dies!

When husband was driving the gas pedal stuck in the mat causing him to run off road causing damage to hood, fender, headlight, grill & left front wheel got damaged but since we only have liability it has forced us to drive it damaged. In motion, ran into woods
The dash is warping and rising up in the center.this has been going on for years but is now to the point that it affects the defrost flow of air.this means the windshield is frequently fogging over, affecting visibility.i can no longer fully defrost my windshield.lincoln has refused to fix it at their cost.they want around $5000 to replace it.
There was a recall on the windows of our lincoln zephyr which were being scratched due to a bad fit into the door panels.our local lincoln remedied it by doing a'technical bulletin' on the car.however, it is still doing it and the windows are so scratched you can barely see out of them.this has happened over time. It's my daughters car and i didn't realize how bad it was until i had to drive it. Our local lincoln dealership suggested we file a complaint with lincoln corporate but we have been unable to reach them.we paid to have the front drivers and passengers windows replaced just recently but then found out there was a recall for this problem.

Driving at approx 30mph my tire blew out after just replacing all 4 tires 3k miles before. Took the tire back to the merchant and they replaced it because i had a hazard protection plan with tires. Replaced all 4 tires in sept of 2014 due to normal wear and i have had to replace 3 tires due to tire coming off of the rim while driving and losing air pressure, slow leak that resulted in flat and a blowout while driving at 40mph and landed me into a ditch. The tire merchant informed me that the wheels are defective due to the chrome on rim peeling and damaging tire as well as preventing a seal between tire and rim to keep tire inflated. Replacing the wheels with manufacturer wheels will result in same problem being that it is a defect in the product. I feel ford needs to take responsibility for this defect and reimburse customers for new wheels.
Was traveling southbound on i-39 when tire blew out. Have had to replace tires several times and told by dealership and 2 auto service centers that the rims are so corroded they do not hold air properly and need to be replaced. All wheels have chrome flaking off. Car currently has less than 75k miles. In the 2.5 years i have owned it, probably have had to have the tires repaired/replaced 10-15 times.
Tires continually loosing air pressure.mechanics showed flaking and cracking chrome plating on wheels that create air leakage path at bead/rim contact area.damage to tires due to repeated loss of air pressure.mechanics at belle tire say this is a very common problem with the 2006 lincoln zephyr wheels.why no recall?replacement wheels are approx $1,600!

Takata recall we need this issue fixed. Airbags are so important and small children aretransported in this car.
Takata recall.on the passenger side airbag deflated.light stays on in my car constantly
Garage kept, low mileage, well taken care of. Dash board is warping, seems to be a common problem with this lincoln.
The contact owns a 2006 lincoln zephyr.the contact stated that the windows and sunroof open without the vehicle being started simply by pushing the remote ignition key.she stated that it was a safety issue because the windows and sunroof could be opened without her knowledge, allowing someone to enter the vehicle.the failure has been occurring since march of 2008.the vehicle was taken in for an oil change and the mechanic stated that they would investigate the issue.ford stated that there was a glitch in the remote ignition key.the current mileage was 23,348 and failure mileage was 2,000.updated 06/25/08 the consumer stated there are 4 symbol buttons on the ignition key that do not require a lot of force to activate. The buttons can be activated by objexts puching against them. Updated 06/25/08
The dash board of the vehicle is severely warped, i have been told this is very common with this year model. The warp is at the defrost vent as well at the front of the dash above the clock. The warp is a safety concern, as defrost does not work as it should due to the warping. Door handle (specifically drives side at this time) will not open from the inside. You have to roll down the window or have someone else open the door from the outside. This is also a safety concern, as in case of emergencies you cannot open the door to exit the vehicle.
Air bag light came on. Had it diagnosed and fault according to code was b229015fault ppt d1 to d3rhs front sensor not reading properly need to replace inboard and outboard rhs front railsthis vehicle has hardley ever had a front passenger in the front seat and there is no way that these rails should or could be damaged or bent causing the sensor not to read. This is a defective and or inferior rail system.
The car accelerates and loses speed on side street and highways. This is very dangerous because of loss of speed control.
Left front wheel speed sensor not communicating and traction light comes oncost to repair$310.00.
Car speeds and slows down on its own on highways and side streets it is very dangerous
Car has a hard time accelerating/switching gears whole driving in city or on the hwy... Causing the engine to buck. This has been ongoing since i've owned the car. At times my airbag light comes on. ..something to do with the sensors malfunctioning.
Dashboard on vehicle is warped defroster vent is out windshield does not defrost properly obstructs vision while driving
The plating on all four of my wheels are peeling making the tires not seal properly causing air to leak from the tires.i have had four blowouts and several flat tires. I have to air up the tires every 2 or 3 days.i have taken them to several places to get them fixed and was told that they can not do anything about them other than try and put a sealant on the tire to keep it from happening.this has not fixed the problem and i still have to continue to air the tire every couple of days.
The contact owns a 2006 lincoln zephyr. The contact stated that the tires were constantly becoming flat. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection where they stated that the rims were corroded. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified and stated that the contact needed to go to the dealer for further repairs. The failure mileage was 58,000.
The 2006 lincoln zephyr was traveling at a speed of 40 and the rear passenger tire suddenly blew up. The mechanic inspected the cause and concluded that the original aluminum lincoln-factory wheel was defective. The mechanic also inspected the other three wheels and the same problem is continuing to occur with all the 2006 lincoln zephyr wheels. The manufacturing defect was described by the mechanic as follows: the chrome is peeling off the wheel, which prevents a good seal between the wheel and the tire, resulting in the loss of air pressure. The sudden loss of air pressure may cause serious injury or death.
The wheels on my car are corroded and as a result the tires will not hold air pressure i have had two sets of tires with the same problem car has 85000 miles tires were repaired but problem remained the metal shows flaking car has never been hit and shows no other signs of a problem tires lose 20 pounds of air pressure every three days.
I have had my 2006 lincoln zephyr for 1 1/2 years. I noticed within almost a month that my front driver tire was having a slow leak. Shortly after all my tires were slowly leaking and i would fill the tires to 33psi's as recommended, but by two days the psi's would be down to 8psi. My first incident that occurred was driving on the interstate and my back passenger tire blew out. I have bought all new tires and within almost 3 months the slow leak occurred again in all the tires. I have had my tires resealed numerous times ( the reseal holds for almost 3 months) and the leak is coming from the back of the rim where the rim and tire meets. I have been told by mechanicsthat the leaks are damaging the walls of my tire and the mechanic has put new valves on and the tires still leaks. I have invested in a air pump that plugs up to the cigarette lighter because i never know when the tires might be flat. I have contacted lincoln/ford and there is no recall on this vehicle. I have done research on the internet and found several articles/pages with similar people to my situation.i do not feel safe, because i never when a tire blow out may occur and with the leak damaging my tires, it looks like i might be buying new tires quit often. Will you please help my and other 2006 lincoln zephyr owners. Thanks
Wheels need replacing, will not hold an air seal thought it was a tire defect ,not so ,i bought a 2 hp. Air compressorto weep tires inflated. Mechanic said new rims are need before new tires, are linclon rims been upgraded//need to replace!!!
The contact owns a 2006 lincoln zephyr. The contact stated all four chrome rims flaked and the tire pressure decreased. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnosis where it was stated that the tires were losing pressure. The vehicle was repaired and the manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 40,000.
The contact owns a 2006 lincoln zephyr. While driving 55 mph, the vehicle pulled to the left. The vehicle was merged to the side of the road, where the contact noticed an abnormal noise emitting from the rim as if air were linking from the tire. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 99,000. The vin was not available.
2006 lincoln zephyr. 22k miles. All 4 rims corrode causing tires to loose air. Tire shop broke down tires and cleaned rims.applied sealant around lip and remounted tires. Tire shop owner indicated he has cleaned and resealeda number of 2006 lincoln zephyr aluminum wheels.at 35k miles all 4 tires were replaced at lincoln dealer.two weeks after new tires installed front driver side tire came off rim due to low air pressure.i complained to dealer that the tires are leaking air.dealer acknowledged problem with rims and replaced tire free of charge.dealer also indicated all four rims were cleaned and resealed.
I have had to replaced the tires on this car 3 timesbecause they are always loosing air and wearing down fast.the last time i was told it was the rims thats been causing it. I cannot take the car on long trips because i have to put air in them everyday before i leave the house, nice car crappy maker this car has 62tm on it. I am the only driver and owner of it. Why is there not a recall on the rims? is that why lincoln stop making this model? by the way the last tires were purched in 2013 still putting air everyday .what is lincoln doing about this?there are no cheep tires for these cars .
Had a flat tire going down the highway. Didn't think much about it...it happens. Got a couple of new tires put on and a few months later it happens again. Ruining the $250 tire again. My mechanic says the chrome is peeling off my rims and that is what is causing me to lose air pressure in the tire, and that i should replace the rims. They are about $550 a piece so thats not going to happen. These cars that have low profile tires need to have tire pressure monitoring systems because you can't look at the tire and tell its low. If ford doesn't feel this is a safety issue they are wrong.i work at a ford dealership and i see stupid recalls for things that might happen one time in a thousand. But i bet this is happening to all the zephyr, fusions, milans, or anything they are putting these junk rims on.
I have a 2006 lincoln zephyr the chrome is peeling ofthe wheels causing the tires to loose air pressurethe car was purchased new and currently has 9,000 miles we purchased an extended warranty but was told this is not a safety issue i beg to differ.
The contact owns a 2006 lincoln zephyr. Upon inspecting the wheels of the vehicle, the contact noticed that the aluminum coating on the wheels started to peel off. As a result of the aluminum peeling off of the wheels, the tires would not hold adequate air pressure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 30,000.
The contact owns a 2006 lincoln zephyr. While driving 20 mph, the aluminum surface of the wheels began to rub off. As a result, the surface of the wheels became irregular and all four tires deflated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing, but was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 94,000.
2006 lincoln zephyr. Consumer writes in regards to problem with brakes *tgwthe consumer stated upon arriving at an intersection, he applied the brake, and the pedal nearly went to the floor, the abs seemed to activate as he moved into the intersection. The consumer noticed the abs was in control, as he tried to brake. The mechanic checked the brake system, including the brake fluid level, which was normal. The mechanic took the vehicle for a test drive and noticed the brake pedal nearly went to the floor, after which the abs activated.the mechanic saw a heavy accumulation of ice/snow toward the inside section behind the right front wheel. The mechanic suggested letting the snow/ice thaw. Once it thawed, the braking system returned to normal.updated 02/24/12
After having multiple flat tires - which i incorrectly attributed to bad luck - i discovered the problem was not my tires at all, but was instead, the chrome peeling on the inner rim of the wheels, which not only created an air leak from the seal not holding, but also damaged the very-expensive-to-replace tires. I learned this when i tried to put 4 new tires on the car, thinking maybe all the flats were due to the brand of tires, and costco showed me the peeling chrome problem and told me not to waste my money on new tires until the wheels were replaced. Was informed this manufacturing defect with the chrome plating is not a problem ford will fix at their expense and the cost for putting new non-chrome wheels on the car would all be mine.apparently sudden flats due to defective chrome is not regarded as a safety issue by ford.

Tires lose air all the time.i even bought brand new tires and it still happens. Current mechanic advise its the wheels. They are original to the car and i am being told its due to the wheels. Now i am spending money to "clean" them. Not sure if it will help but this seems to be a wide spread problem.
The aluminum wheels on my 2006 lincoln zephyr are peeling at the tire contact point causing a deterioration of the seal capability of the wheel.the tires eventually won't seal properly and lose air pressure until the tire is either reinflated, or goes flat.the dealer was notified, several times but would only clean the wheels, and reseal and reinflate the tires.this treatment lasted approximately 3 months until the tires began to lose air again.we received no satisfaction from the lincoln dealer regarding any permanent corrective action for this problem.we were told we'd have to replace the aluminum wheels, but were given no guarantee the new wheels would perform any better.
While driving i felt the car pulling to the left, after examination i noticed that the passenger left side tire was flat. I managed to get to a gas station, but was unable to inflate the tire. These tires were purchased in new in may 2014. I have driven few miles between may and november, the mileage can be verified with dealership. This is the fourth time that i have purchased tires for this vehicle. The first time was very soon after purchase while traveling out of state. I purchased a new tire then that was very hard to find because of the year and make of car. The tires continued to lose pressure never really remaining inflated. I purchased a air pump that i used to inflate the tires, because the tires would literally deflate to the rim. I again purchased a full set, but the problem remained. 2014 again purchased a full set, then 2014 purchased another tire. As you can see this vehicle with one owner has very few miles, but several tire purchases. Lincoln/ford needs to closely monitor this complaint. It is getting to costly to continue buying tires for some reason other than the defective rim wheel. My family safety is at stake.
I have a 2006 lincoln zephyr and i have noticed the chrome on my rims is peeling off and the rims are becoming very corroded. The tire keep deflating due to this problem even after you air the tires up they slowly leak air. I have seen many complaints about this happening to these rims and it could cause a blow out due to under inflation as the tire specifically says on the side of the tire. This needs to be addressed.
The wheels have stopped holding air for any amount of time. Regardless of temperature, speed, mileage. Mechanics have reported that because of the flaking chrome wheels, they will not hold air correctly for any amount of time. Have paid over $20 on several occasions to have bead seal, which may or may not help until the tires have to be replaced because of unusual wear because of under inflation. Tires have been replaced at an unusually high rate until it is not worth buying new tires as they are trashed in short order. Now my mother drives around on used tires and she has to stop in instant oil change to have her tire pressure checked almost every morning. There are several complaints about this problem and these wheels specifically. Why is there no recall regarding this? this is an outrage that so many people have had this problem. This is a more than $1500 fix to have peace of mind. Please do something so that i can quit worrying about my mothers car, tires, her life!
The contact owns a 2006 lincoln zephyr.the contact stated that all four wheels on his vehicle were defective.the wheels cause the tires to flatten and will not hold air.the contact must place air in the tires each week.the dealer stated that the vehicle needed new wheels, but at the contact's expense because they were not covered under warranty.the failure mileage was 43,905. Updated 4/16/09 updated 04/20/09.
2006 lincoln zephyr. Consumer writes in regards to defective wheel rims. The consumer stated for the last year-and-a-half, he has been losing air in at least one of his tires. Approximately six months ago, he noticed he had been losing air in three tires. An independent dealer inform him that the loss of air was due to corrosion and chrome flaking off the wheel rim. He recommended that the consumer replace all four of the wheels rims. Because of the high cost of the wheel rims, the consumer decided to monitor the air loss and add air as needed. Over the last few months, in three tires, he began losing between 10-20 pounds of air over a four or five day period. The other tire maintained air pressure. The manufacturer agreed to replace two of the rims.
