Our car has not been recalled by ford or nhtsa. Numerous requests over the last (2) years havenot returned a response. Why is cars from the same year being considered and not ours? is their safety more important than ours? why are we being ignored by theestablishment?this is outright discrimination..... We have spent $1200. For the passenger airbag inflator, only to find out we need the driver side inflator also for it to work. Where are the parts?why hasn'tfoqrd made these parts available?they have neglected our safety..... We can not even carry our grand children in our vehicle because of this . Where's the justice in this?this same situation applies for my 2005 dodge ram pickup, again no parts available.why don't you just replace them with takata-inflator, like we have now, if it lasts (10) more years,at least we'll be safe...does anyone in washingtondo their jobs anymore?maybe it's time for new leadership, and not the democraticdo nothing party...you have had (8) years, for heavens sake , get moving....
2005 lincoln town car air bag light came on at nearly 51000 miles. Mechanic replaced clock spring in steering column ($250)--did not fix problem!! then informed an additional problem in column. Never in an accident and maintained properly. Have written ford motor twice suggesting they should fix the problem, that it must be a factory defect. They did not have the decency to respond!!!!!

Vehicle dashboard "air bag" light came on! took to lincoln dealer who stated it looked liked the passenger seat pretensionerneeded to be replaced. Stated that most likely the driver side would also ultimately need replacement as well, as it is a continual and on-going problem!cost to repair one side approx. $750.00 after discount. This car has always been serviced by lincoln, never in an accident, and only has 35,500 miles on it. Dealer also stated, that it is a real safety issue and if not fixed, air bags might not deploy if in an accident. Although, i have an after market service warranty - oem bumper to bumper contract, they refuse to pay for the repairs, stating that "safety items" are not covered? with ford motors knowing of the on-going safety problems this item should be on recall due to overall safety concerns with cars on the road, whereas, customers cannot afford to fix them, or fail to, and lives are being lost as a result!

After i start the vehicle and fasten the driver seat belt, the vehicle generates a series to 5 chime sounds and then pauses for a few seconds, then it repeats the 5 chime sounds. The set of 5 chime sounds are repeated a total of 5 times totaling 25 chime sounds. Additionally, the chime pattern sounds again exactly as before after the vehicle is in use for about 30 minutes, then the chime sequence repeats itself approximately every 30 minutes thereafter. There are no warning indicator lights shown in the dashboard, and neither are there any airbag indicator lights on before or after the chimes begin to sound.

I was parking at applebees when the car bolted and slammed in the wall. I tried to put itin park but went in reverse also at hgh speed. Finally i was able to brake and go to park. I'm concerned. I did not have my foot on theacceleator. I would like someone to check my car out.
Immediate uninitiated tremendous engine acceleration after shifting from reverse to drive. I had to jam the brake on and put the car in neutral until the acceleration stopped. This has occurred previously approximately five other times over the course of eight years.

Our concrete drive is at a small incline-i went to put car in our garage -i had overhead garage door open-i started car and the wheels squealed leaving tire marks on concrete as it jumped forward-when i hit brake pedal it accelerated more. This was one of about 7 cases where car for no reason accelerated and jumped forward without any warning-when this happens the tires always squeal leaving tire marks on surface. In oct. 2012 i was at a 4 way stop light-light was red and without any warning car jumped forward and 2 cars had to take action to miss my car as it ran through the stop light-other cars were blowing their horns-thank god we did not crash. This condition is extremely seriousi have reported these cases to krenzen where i bought car but they claim there was never a case reported such as this. I asked them to make a report on it. I find many cases on the internet like my case.

While in motion vehicle engine accelerates on its own. Not a driver error problem. This extremely dangerous engine revvinghas occurred several times when driving in the city and slowing down approaching an intersection. Can control the engine revving up by placing transmission on neutral, stopping car turn ignition to off. Restart engine and engine behaves properly. Took car to dealer 0n 9/22/16. Dealer kept car to attempt duplicating problem. Car returned car to me on 10/20/16. Dealer says no problem detected. This accelerationproblem has happened numerous times going back to shortly after i purchased the new car. I bought the car in good faith. I now believe that the dealer and lincoln sold me a defective product. Too dangerous to drive with passengers and safety for other persons. This problem has occurred probably about 20 times and reported several times to no avail.

My 2005 lincoln town car extended warranty expired @ 100,000 miles and at about 110,000 miles the a/c failed.the dealership repaired it citing that the evaporator failed at a cost of approx. $2,400.i called ford motor and they said that there's nothing they can do to help me.about a month ago, 3 months after having the evaporator replaced, the a/c failed again, not blowing cold air.i took it back to the dealership that did the original work, and this time they said that the accumulator is leaking and has to be replaced at a cost of approx. $700.00.again i called ford motor and they said that they cannot help.can you intervene?the dealership is safford lincoln-mercury, silver spring, maryland, phone #: 888-848-5997, and the service manager is chris austin.

Low beams head lights cuts off without warning while driving all the time
At lest 14 times, all our lights inside and outside the vehicle go off and stay off for a period of time.so far this has happened in the daytime and we, purposely, do not drive it at night as cannot trust it to not occur again.we live on a restrictivbe budget so have not been able to get it repaired.did see the recall on the 2005 mercury and wonder if this should apply to us as well. Our dealer, colorado river ford, says it does not, but strange that symptoms are the same.
I have a 2005 lincoln town car, signature series, that on the same day on two occasions while going slow and lightly braking the car suddenly accelerated. My foot was not anywhere close to the gas pedal. This has never happened before and not in the last two weeks. I went up on the net and found many other people had reported the exact same problem with that exact year and model lincoln. A number of which went to their local ford dealer only to find them to say we checked it out thoroughly and found nothing wrong. I expect this could very well happen again and create a very serious accident. I just want to go on record as having reported this incident to as many places as possible so that in the event it causes an accident in the future i have some recourse if they say it was only drivers error. I may send this to ntsb, consumers guide, and insurance safety board and others in hopes of getting some answer other than , could not duplicate problem.thank you
Dt:2005 lincoln town car. The consumerwrote a letter to the dealer regarding potential gas tank safety and/or explosion problems that may exist in lincoln town car. Have notany gotten any knowledgeable person saying thatcar was safe. The consumer has not been driving the car.contacted manufacturer, and someonecalled the consumer backand said the car was safe.the person hetalked to said he was the individualresponsible for complaintsaboutvehicles.he showed no indicationthat he was an expert that could speak with authorityregardingconsumer'svehicle safety. The consumerpurchased thevehicle in april 2005.the dealer too vehicle to a gas station ,and it took them15 minutes to put in six gallons of gas.the dealer contacted ford to get advice on how to correct theproblem.ford recommended that a gas tank valve should be replaced.the dealer ordered the recommended gas tank valve.the new valve for a 2005 lincoln town car was received by dealer.the new valve was different than the valve that came with consumer's2005 lincoln.dealer called ford and informed them that consumer'svehicle was an early 2005 lincoln town car.later models were redesigned for use only on2005 lincoln town cars.the dealer reordered the older design part that should work onconsumer's lincoln.unfortunately the older design part was not readily available.ford put out an order to locate this part, and finally the part was received and reinstalled onvehicle.my car was tested, and the problem seemed to be resolved, but only time will tell.does this gas tank pose a potential safety problem, and if so is ita time bomb ready to go off at any time?consumerasked himselfwhy the part was redesigned for use on later 2005 lincoln town cars.additionally, why was the part not readily available?finally my car was out of service from 08-18-05 to 09-16-05a total of thirty days.mileage was 5875 and the delivery date forvehicle was april 5, 2005.
After starting the car while parked, i stepped on the brake and put the car in drive, as soon as i put the car in drive the engine accelerated without me putting my foot on the gas pedal and i had to stand on the brake, the car jumped forward, i jammed the car into neutral and the engine still continued to accelerate to a high rpm, i had to shut the engine off to get it to stop accelerating. I had several children in the car and we almost hit the car parked in front of us. This is the fourth time in 4 months that this has happened. I took the car to the ford dealership to be diagnosed the last time this happened, they found nothing! i pointed out the class action lawsuit for unintended acceleration problems for fords between the years 2002 and 2010 but they denied knowing anything about this problem and told me they would have to duplicate this problem before they would do anything about it. Obviously they could not duplicate this and i am now left with a dangerous car and ford denies this is a problem.
I was driving through a parking lot when i took my foot off the gas pedal and lightly stepped on the brake pedal. As soon as i touched the brake pedal the car accelerated to an uncontrollable speed in a parking lot and i stood on the brake pedal as hard as i could but the car kept accelerating across the parking lot. I had to jam the gear into neutral to keep the car from continuing to accelerate and the rpm's of the engine continued to accelerate until i turned off the engine. Fortunately i did not hit anything in the parking lot and no one was injured. This is the second time this has happened in two weeks in exactly the same way.

After being parked in parking lot - engine turned off, no radio playing, etc. We started the vehicle up, backed up, braked, put in drive and accelerated at which time the vehicle immediately accelerated out of control.brakes would not stop the car.the car continued to accelerate faster and faster.we ran over a couple of islands, pulled fire hydrant out of the ground, ran into a wall, vehicle continued to accelerate and it seared from the wall, accelerating faster we knocked 6 parked cars out of the way like they were boxes all the while braking to no availvehicle continuing to accelerate fasterheaded across the parking lot toward a chain link fence we threw the gear shift into park about the same time we hit the fence.the vehicle balked and came to stop in about 50 feet in an adjacent parking lot on the other side of the fence ripping about 50 feet of the fence with it.front end demolished, radiator steaming, engine still running, ripped undercarriage flattened tires from rims. Totaled the car. And air bags did not deploy. Onlyinjuries were bruises and sprains and emotional problems.praise god.2 adults and 3 children were in the car. Iknow the car malfunctioned and lincoln has a responsibility to the public to investigate, determine cause & correct.look at the insurance report investigative report.they tell me it cost too much to investigate the cause since there wereno severe injuries, .there are many similar incidents on the internet and some not so fortunate. There is a safety issue here and the public has the right to have these accidents investigated.the trauma of being in an out of control vehicle is devastating and lincoln has a public liability to make that determination to save future lives.2 adults and 3 children are still emotionally disturbed about this. Are also similar incidents with other ford products. Please respond.

I purchased a new 2005 lincoln towncar. When i start to pass a car and press the accelerator to the floor to go into passing gear there is a period of a few seconds when the car appears to lose power then it shifts down and accelerates.the dealership told me "that is the way it works and there is no way to correct it".i think this puts me in danger because i cannot tell if the car is going to downshift and gain enough speed to pass or not.
My husband was driving his 2005 lincoln town car down a private driveway of our country residence.his vehicle became stuck by the side of the driveway.while attempting to dislodge his vehicle from the side of the driveway, the automatic transmission fluid in his vehicle overheated.the overheated transmission fluid forced the transmission fluid dipstick out of the transmission fill tube far enough to allow the transmission fluid to overflow onto the engine of the vehicle where the transmission fluid caught on fire.the resulting fire spread throughout the vehicle, and my husband, who was unable to escape from the vehicle, burned to death.

When is this democratic government going to go after these companies who violate the law?my 2005 dodge truck also is under a recall for the same thing, but there are no parts available to fix it...wewant action and now< quit telling us the consumer lies< like we"ll get back to you in (2) business days.this is allb.s.....a8.

Air bag light on, giving code 34 then remains illuminated. Dealer said seat belt tensioners on both side need to be changed @ a cost of $1,500 .they also advise serious injury can occur in an event of an impact .
February 2013 air bag light came on took to dealer and diagnosed passenger side seat belt pretensioner needed replaced , repair was made at cost over 600.00, then again in may 2013 air bag light came on, dealer diagnosed driver side seat belt pretensioner needed replaced at another cost of over 600.00.
Dt:the consumer owns a 2005 lincoln town car. She states that the way the front seat belt buckle is located in the seat it causes her right leg to go numb. In the other vehicles that she owned the seat belt buckle was beside the seat not in it. She contacted the manufacturer and they stated that this is just the way the vehicles were made. They also indicated that the seat belt buckle was put in the seat because of the side air bag. The dealership will not correct this problem because of the safety factors and regulations for the vehicle.
Driver's seat heater electrical failure, shorted caused fire, 2"x4" burn hole.

I was driving my 2005 lincoln town car signature series approximately twenty five miles per hour. When i approached a stop sign that another driver was already stopped at, my brakes completely failed, with the pedal going all the way to the floor, causing me to hit the back of the other person's vehicle. I then threw my car into park to speak with the driver of the other vehicle. The brakes seemed to work after that but now i'm completely paranoid that this will happen again at some point! nobody seems to be able to tell me what's wrong with my brakes!

I had just purchased this vehicle and was driving it home from the car dealership. While pressing on the brake pedal with my right foot to stop at a traffic light, the brake pedal went down so far that my right foot began to also press on the accelerator pedal while that same foot was still on the brake pedal. As my right foot was then pressing on both pedals (brake and accelerator), the car began to accelerate towards the intersection being controlled by the traffic light and towards another car that had stopped at the traffic light. To avoid plowing into the back of the stopped vehicle, i shifted the gear shift from "d" (drive) to the neutral position and then my car suddenly stopped just before plowing into the back of the stopped vehicle. At the time of this incident i did not realize what caused this, but i was able to reproduce this series of events within a hour afterwards.

I was nearly stopped at a 4-way intersection, foot lightly on the brake, when the car lunged forward and i heard a noise as if i were pressing the accelerator and giving the car gas. I pressed the brakes hard and the car slowed but did not stop promptly (as if brakes were not working well). This was an unexplained acceleration, and dangerous. If the car had not finally stopped, i would have been in the middle of a busy intersection, with one of my precious grandchildren in the back seat. So dangerous. It happened again to me this a.m. When i was stopping at a stop sign. Brief acceleration. And i am positive i was not pressing the accelerator. Calling my dealer today. I am afraid to drive the car now.

I just purchased a used 2005 lincoln.the 1st day of/during driving it, i had the same problem when moving my right foot onto the brake pedal to stop.doing so, 3 different times, the vehicle leapt forward.(i've heard of this happening in the past to older folks driving into buildings.)i have come to be aware that when moving the right foot from the accelerator to the brake pedal via rolling on the heel of your foot, that the right outter edge of your shoe-sole contacts the accelerator at the same time when applying the brake pedal to slow or stop the vehicle.no uploads or additional documents provided.

On the 2005 lincoln town car the brake and gas peddle are to close. When you step on the brake it is very easy to put your foot on the gas peddle at the same time. This could result in a very dangerous situation.this has been an ongoing problem from the day i purchased this car.
Applied brakes and car unexpectedly accelerated. This has happened 6-7 over the last 3 months. The last time the car was at a dead stop at a traffic and unexpectedly accelerated.
I may send this to ntsb, consumers guide, and insurance safety board and others in hopes of getting some answer other than , could not duplicate problem.thank you
After being parked in parking lot - engine turned off, no radio playing, etc.

I took delivery of my new town car and on the short drive home, i rear ended a car stopped at a traffic light.i saw the light was red and began by stop normally and then realized that the car was not stopping.i pressed harder on the brakes and the engine revved faster, the anti-lock brakes would grab and release and then i struck the stopped car.the impact did not set off the air bags but did considerable damage to the bumpers of both cars.i thought perhaps the accelerator had stuck and took my car in to the dealer, but they could find nothing wrong.apparently my foot was on the brake and the accelerator when i tried to stop.a friend who has the same model town car as i have said that this happened to him 4 times when his car was new.my son's wife has a 2004 expedition and he says that he hates to drive it because the brake and accelerator are too close together.another friend expressed the same concern.my nephew has a 2005 ford diesel pickup and i am told that he was backing up to a dock and hit the accelerator along with the brake and slammed into the dock breaking his tail light.this vehicle and the others i have mentioned have pedals that adjust in and out together and in all positionsthe height is the same on both, after the slack is taken up on the brake.i had a 1997 town car and the distance between the brake and accelerator is almost twice as wide on the '97i reported this to ford and i do not like their response.i will quote one sentence that sums up the short letter - - "we suggest that you follow the direction of your insurance carrier, which has the right to file a subrogation claim against ford motor company if it chooses to pursue the matter".i sincerely hope that something can be done to force ford to correct this engineering error.
The vehicle engine accelerates for no reason when i apply the brakes to stop and tries to move foward requiring me to reapply my foot on the brake pedal with force and put the transmission in nutrual to stop the forward or reverse motion of the vehicle.i had taken delivery of this vehicle on december 16, 2004and have as of this date have driven it less then 2800 miles due to a major safety defect. I have taken this vehicle to the dealer service center to rectify this problem 3 times, i have also advised them in writing that, this problem makes the vehicle unsafe to drive on the road, andthey advisedd me that, since this problem doesnot appear as an error code in the computer system they are unable to find or repair this.in essence they are unwilling to investigate this problem beyond attaching it to a computer to see if it shows any error code.the problem may be mechincal which would not show up in any computer or the problem may be in the transmission, or the fuel feed but they just have no intention to make this vehicle safe.i belive that this is not an isolated incedent but may be inherent in all vehicles built by fordin this class.

2005 lincoln town car signature. Brand new, only 200 miles on car. Intermittently, the engine accelerates when i place my foot and depress the brake pedal. Instead of stopping, it lurches forward. It has happened 6 times and luckily no other car was directly in front of me. The brake and accelerator pedals can be adjusted up and down and no way is better, it happens in both positions. I have spoken to another person with the identical car and he also has this problem. Both he and his wife have experienced it. I also saw the exact same comment on this web site from a 3rd individual: http://www.mycarstats.com/console.aspthis person said that the auto dealer told him that the car's computer did not list an error code for this so they were unable to repair it.also, i believe that the 2 pedals are too close to each other. My previous town car's pedals were further apart. I have not been back to the auto dealer yet but will go shortlyto report this dangerous occurrence but i don't believe that they will do anything about it. I love the car but think it is dangerous to drive.

2005 lincoln tonw car accelerator sticks, with cruise control not engaged. It will accelerate while braking, at a stop, in reverse, and almost anytime at anytime. I brought the car into the shop, first time they billed me to clean things out. This didn't work sothey said they would drive it to see what it was. Less than 1/8th tank of gas and a week later they found nothing. Gave it back with a computor in it and a button to push when it did it again. 3 days later i had 4 examples pushed on there computor.now they said they can't retrive the information.
For no reason, the front door on the driver's side will not open from the inside.you have to roll down the window and open it with the outside door handle.
I was parking at applebees when the car bolted and slammed in the wall. I tried to put itin park but went in reverse also at hgh speed. Finally i was able to brake and go to park. I'm concerned. I did not have my foot on theacceleator. I would like someone to check my car out.
I have experienced sudden unexpected acceleration on my 2005 lincoln town car.this has happened many times. The car's computer was examined by 2 lincoln dealers and no errors ware found. Just yesterday, i was driving and had my foot off both the accelerator pedal and the brake as i was coasting in traffic when the car suddenly accelerated and i had to press on the brake to stop this. I then took the car immediately to my lincoln dealer who could find nothing wrong again. Do you have any information on problems with the electronic throttle control or any other part such as cruise control, etc., that could cause this problem and has this problem been reported to you by others? i met another 2005 lincoln town car owner who said he had the same problem and i also found an article on the internet by a 3rd 2005 lincoln town car owner with the same exact problem who also said the his dealer told him that the car's computer showed no errors so there was nothing that they could do about the problem.

On september 4th, 2005 at approximately 2:30 pm, my assigned car, a 2005 lincoln continental, crashed into ahertz ford taurus and a hertz volvo. Was the accident my fault or was it caused by a defective car?i was among transporters dropped off at the cherry hill, new jersey hilton hotel.our assignment was to pick-up cars and drive them to the hertz office at mcguire air force base. I found my car, a 2005 lincoln continental, buckled up, checked the mileage, started the engine and turned the lights on. I put the car into reverse and the car accelerated uncontrollably into two parked cars.all cars had severe damage. I don't believe (and am willing to take a lie detector test to prove it) i was in any way responsible for the accident because first of all, i have been employed for almost a year as a bordentown, nj hertz transporter and have a perfect driving record, with no violations or warnings of any kind. Secondly, the parking lot attendant said he thought i had my brakes and accelerator engaged at the same time. I don't know how this was possible unless the car was accelerating by itself and overpowered the brakes.thirdly, acceleration marks on the pavement were continuous, unbroken and had a uniform consistency in color and width, showing that nothing i did had any effect on the backward acceleration.finally, i don't think anyone can reproduce these marks (approximately 33 feet long) with the same automobile unless they speed the engine to its maximum rpm in neutral and then slam the transmissioninto reverse. I obviously did not do this.somebody must investigate the mechanical, electrical and electronics ofthe 2005 lincoln continental that rocketed backward into two parked cars.i want to see this report, since i was the driver.mike meir, city manager for hertz at bordentown, nj 609-298-8585 can refer to the accident report, give you the vin number or any additional information you may require.

On june 5, 2008 i was in line on a hill to get into a car wash & accelerated into the car on line in front of me. I did file a police report at that time. I thought my foot slipped off the brake & that it could have been my fault. However,on april 8, 2010 i was waiting in line at the same car wash in exactly the same spot.i tapped the accelerator slightly to move up in line and my car lurched forward out of control. Despite pressing hard on the brake pedal my car still accelerated into the car in line in front of me. I did not file a police report on april 8, 2010.
