Air bag blinks 3-6 times and then stays on. Dealer was informedthat air bag can malfunction, to have it inspected. Please provide more information.

2000 lincoln town car.consumer writes in regards to passenger side airbag exploded for no apparent reason.the consumer stated he and his wife were traveling on a straight, dry smooth, paved road, when the incident occurred.

While driving at 45 mph vehicle experienced brake failure, which resulted in an accident,and none of the air bags deployed.

The air bag light illuminated on the dash board, the vehicle was taken to the dealer on 5 occasions, the dealer was unable to correct the problem.

The passenger side air bag deployed by itself while driving approximately 5 mph in a parking lot.i was making a slight turn to the right at the time of deployment.the car did not hit or come in contact with anything and to my knowledge the car has never been in an accident prior.no one was sitting in the passenger seat at the time of air bag deployment.

While driving at 45 mph vehcile was in an head on collision due to brake failure. Upon impact, none of the air bags deployed.

Consumer called complainingabout having problems withair bag light turning on vehicle's panel. Vehicle has been at the dealer different times, they wouldfixed it, and it came back on. Manufacturer was contacted, and stated that the only thing the consumer coulddo isto go tolocal dealer.

While traveling at 55mphvehicle ran off the road and ran through some bushes, and then it had a head-on collision with a tree.skidded on the nose ofvehicle. Upon impact,air bags did not deploy. Contacted dealer, anddealerwas not willing to do anything.

Brake failure.first time i was able to stop. My husband next drove the car and could not find any fault with brakes.the car was driven to new orleans with no other problems except it had a tendency to hydroplane during a heavy rain.several dayslater he was preparingto make a left turnat an intersection. The brakes failed to hold and he bumped the car ahead which hit another which hit another. No injuries but damage to two of the vehicles.car was returned to superior lincoln to have the brakes checked and to have rear bumper repaired.they had to replace the rear plastic bumper and stated that they could not find any problems with the brakes.we picked up the car on 8/14/01 and after testing the brakeswhile driving homeeverything seemed o.k. That night while driving from a 4th floor parking garage the brakes failed completly and we headon crashed into a concrete block wall. There were 4 people in the car (all had their seat belts fastened) and all sustained bruises and contusions. Fortunatly there were no broken bones but we are still nursing various aches and pains. The 2 people in the rear seat suffered from wiplash and seat belt bruises and sore chests. One thing that worked was the front air bags that saved my wife and i from any further injury.

Nar 03-24-2003mr.when the consumer hit the brakes, the vehicle veered to the left and the pedal would go down low. The consumer took the vehicle to the dealership on several occasions and because the problem was never fix, the consumer was involved in a collision due to the brakes failing when the consumer needed to come to a stop. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer after the repair were made, but they were unable to find a problem, however on 7/10/02 the consumer wife was unable to stop the vehicle and rear ended a truck and the air bags did not deploy.

When the consumer pushes the last two buttons on the pad to lock car the head lights and tail lights come on, sometimes they stay on causing the battery to go dead, ford exchanged the vehicle for the 2000 model and the new vehicle experienced the same defect, ford does not know how to fix it. *mjs

Bob utter ford auto dealership in sherman, tx tried to sell us a car that the odometer reading didn't match the carfax or its own registration sticker on the windshield. When we returned the vehicle they became verbally confrontational to us. We requested the paperwork they had made us sign to take the vehicle home for an overnight test drive. It had our personal identification information on it that we did not want to leave in their hands. They began stalling tactics and then verbally ordered us off their property.

The space used to push on the horn is too hard, and also too small to apply quickly enough. Dealer says it's the design.

The vehicle speed control did not disengage when the brake pedal was depressed.the consumer had to press the off button on the steering column to turn off the speed control. The consumer believes this problem was related to faulty tail light wiring. *nlm

The vehicle caught on fire and burnt up the garage while parked. The fire department and insurance inspector indicated that the fire originated from the driver side engine compartment. The component that caused the fire was undetermined but it was related to the electrical system. A fire report was filed.

I recently went to a mechanic and was told that my intake manifold on my 2000 lincoln towncar was leaking. He also advised me about a recall about the leaking manifolds but when i contacted lincoln they denied any recalls about it. I have yet not repaired my intake manifold and am still waiting for a response from ford or lincoln from my letters that i have written.

The contact owns a 2000 lincoln town car. While parked, the contact noticed coolant leaking from under the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostics. The mechanic stated that the intake manifold assembly was fractured and would have to be replaced. The mechanic stated there was a recall for the engine and referred the contact to the manufacturer. The manufacturer advised the contact, that the vin was not included in the recall. The recall was a voluntary manufacturer's recall. The vehicle was not repaired.the approximate failure mileage was 80,000.updated 6/25/12 updated 06/29/12.

The intake manifold is plastic and has cracked, leaking fluid all over.caught it before engine overheated, but loosing fluid.

Fire started somewhere in the dash board and the whole car went into flames melting the entire inside of my car. The whole car is now gone something from the inside of the dash went bad and ford should do something about this.

Dt: the check engine light came on while driving.the consumer took thevehicle to the dealer five or six times. They performed a diagnostic test that showed some kind of pin hole,but the consumer did not know where this was on the vehicle.the service enginelight continued to illuminate.the dealer offered no explanation other the pin hole theory. The light was currently still on, and the consumer just left the vehicle at the dealer again. Consumer saidno repairs or corrections have been made.

While driving through a puddlefan belt came loose. Has not contacted a dealer yet.

A puddle appeared under pass.side of vehicle,took it to dealer ,they found the plastic intake had cracked where the heater hose connects to the intake,was told :"no warranty on plastic intakes ", vehicle is 10 yrs old,2000 lincoln town car,never received any information about a class action lawsuit,replacement cost is $1100.00 from the dealer ,they told me there is a 1 yr warranty on replacement part.

Dt*: the contact stated the vehicle's jack collapsed while changing a flat tire.there were no injuries sustained.the dealership was alerted.this was the first time the contact used the jack.

Jack collapsed when tire was being changed. The jack couldn't hold the weight of the vehicle. There was a recall to replace the jack with a stronger one, but consumer was never notified of it until the jack broke. Consumer spoke with three different dealers who agreed the jack should be replaced. One agreed to replaced it if the consumer pays the $50.00 warranty deductible. Consumer think the jack couldn't hold the lincoln but may hold a ford focus. Michelin stated since the tire was driven until flat, it wasn't under warranty. Since they couldn't match the tires, all four were replaced with big o with a 100,000 mile unlimited warranty. Michelin,firestone and possibly lincoln has lost the consumeras a consumer.*ph

The jack bent, which caused the vehicle to fall to the ground, the jack was not designed to hold that type of vehicle.

Consumer received notification that his vehicle was covered by recall 00v200000 concerning jacking instructions.consumer has yet to receive correct information on how to use jack for his vehicle.

Owners manual states all lincoln town cars contain front right and left side air bag, however consumers vehicle is a town car limo and is not included with this feature, manual is not accurate and should be changed appropriately. Yh

Light contol module defective and causes lights to turn off when driving.this happens even when ignition is off, exterior lights flash on and off, draining the battery..ford says it is a bad lcm.this is very dangerous

Dt*: the contact stated that the vehicle's gas tank was not protected properly.the contact observed a news report that stated that the gas tank of the same model vehicles would explode during a severe rear impact, and that protective cases were being installed on police vehicle of the same model.the contact took the vehicle to the dealer on 03/26/06 to inquire about installing a protective case for the gas tank.the dealer didnot acknowledge the safety repair.

Trunk light failed to go off when consumer placed clothes intrunk.consumer maintained thatlight could have been onwhole time, buthad no way of knowing that. The steering is extremely loose. The least amount of movement of the steering wheel will jerk you into another lane and it feels like the car is almost like floating out from underneath you. While on the interstate passing semis it feels as if it's going to push me off of the road. It's extremely difficult to keep the car straight on the road without even moving the steering wheel it'll drift to the left or the right. When trying to correct it going into another lane if you just turn the steering wheel just a hair it's almost like you turn the steering wheel 180. Also when attempting to go around a curve you have to barely turn the steering wheel or else it'll run you off the road.

Drivers side seat belt buckle will not click into place any more.

Location of the seat belt connection on the vehicle is out of alignment and causes discomfort on consumers hip when driving, dealer stated it was a design error.nlm

The center seat belt could not be latched (buckled) closed.this renders the center seat belt useless and could leave a rear passenger with no safety restraint.

2000 lincoln town car.when pulling into a parking place, the car kept going forward, over the 4' retaining wall, and into an industrial building approximately 6' away.the car was totaled, and there was damage to the building.fortunately, the building stopped the car.part of the damage happened when the tow truck pulled the car out of the building.driver was only slightly hurt on the lower arms which hit against the steering wheel.

When it rains and i am stepping on the brakes while driving my wife's 2000 lincoln town car, the car veers to the right. Ford has not published any technical service bulletins or recalled the brakes, however, the ford hotline advises is mechanics to put on ford premium brakes. I had on motorcraft brakes which are also sold by ford.

I wasn't aware until recent that there had been a recall on my vehicle on october 28, 2015. I find this information on credit karma and i been having problem with loose steering i never received anything regarding a recall on my car. I would have definitely took it in for repairs. I need to know if the recall still valid because i need the steering fixed. When driving the steering has a lot play and i no that's not the way it supposed to be. Will someone please help me regarding this matter.

While traveling on highway steering wheel column will wander into another lane.mechanic fromdealership toldconsumer thatsteering box memory was defective, was leaking out underneath the vehicle.

Since july 26, 2000, while driving vehicle and hitting any type of bump, vibration comes up through the steering wheel. Pitmanarm has playedandhas movement up and down. Vehicle was taken to the dealership.dealership stated that thiswas a known problem. Dealership had no solution for problem. Nar 03-24-2003mr.when the consumer hit the brakes, the vehicle veered to the left and the pedal would go down low. The consumer took the vehicle to the dealership on several occasions and because the problem was never fix, the consumer was involved in a collision due to the brakes failing when the consumer needed to come to a stop. Palm beach.the service person mentioned that there was a recall on a wiper motor cover..that was likely to cause complete loss of wiper function.i called ford motor company about this at the request of the dealership and after many calls.1. To a person called randy in melbourne, fla.after talking to them they mentioned that a person on their "techline" named dursum sent a message to the dealership that they would not take care of the wiper motor repair.(no explanation of why not)upon calling ford mo co , the person randy, tried to get a supervisor, and mentioned that all the supervisors were busy, and would call me back in 24 hr.upon mentioning that 24 hrs was a long time.randy tried again.a supervisor at the melbourne office of fordcalled marisha said that nothing would be done.she also mentioned that i would not be able to get a copy of the reason ford refused to make the repair.i am upset that ford refused to fix a part that was expressly stated in a recall.i am going to have my motor repaired at another service establishment,definitely not fords. I will retain the receipts.i am requesting a reimbursement for this repair, and want to make it noted of fords' response to this situation.the reference # of this to ford is 1363350186my car is a 2000 town carit looked as though 1,083,00 units were affected by this recall.that's a lot of cars that could cause a lot of damage.

The chrome plate on the left front rim chipped, causing the air in the tire to leak. Dealer replaced the left front wheel.no air pressure loss was evident until a sudden loss from 32 psi to 15 psi experienced.the dealer removed the tire and revealed a failed area about 2 1/2 inch long by 1/2 wide.the chrome plate appeared to be a bend failure to the wheel.there was sometimes a loss of 15 psi to 15 minutes sometimes a loss of 15 psi overnight. *scc
