The cruise control module stopped working on my vehicle and now i'm told it can't be replaced. Subsequently, the radio & a/c stopped working. This cruise control module had to be replaced because of it's ability to spontaneously combust the car in flames as it did on my 1996 lincoln town car. Why doesn't the government enforce the recall laws?

Dt*: the contact stated, while driving 45 mph., on a clear dry day, there was a sound heard resembling the sound of a tire blow out. The vehicle was stopped and the tires were checked for a flat. When no flat tire was found, the vehicle was immediately driven to a near-by service station. On the way to the station, a recurring hissing sound was heard. Vehicle began to over heat.once it got hot, the power of car is,was lost. After happening a few times,i found a very small [pin size] hole in the thermastate recieving unit.this is a part of the manifold it self. All attemps to repair this problem has failed.! trying to fix this proved impossible.this part is in fact made of some type of plastic.as it heats up the plastic exspands, and re-opens the hole, which has now become a crack. All effords to find a sealent to stop the leak, has failed.to have this crack repaired means that the entiretop of the motor [manifold] must be re-placed. Fordre-placed the termastate housing unit in 2000-2001, with an aluminum piece, problem solved.there are no re-calls,nor even a notification, sent out, to address this problem. I feel stornly that this is in fact a known problem, which ford was aware of,but decided that it did nothappen enough to fix it.please note::when the car ovrt heats it shuts off the power to the engine!!! this could potientially be avery dangerous situation, especially in high traffic, high speed situations!!!!
I took my 1998 lincoln to a dealership for diagnosis of engine noise and it was determined the intake manifold was cracked causing loss of coolant and collateral damage costing $1400.00.the dealer advised this was a recall item but expired in 2005.customer service for ford would not grant any concessions and being on a fixed income, i'm looking for some financial relief.i had been to the dealers in the past for service and never once did they mention a recall, even prior the expiration date.i never recalled a notice possibly buying the car in 2000 but you would think the dealership computers would alert to the recall.your assistance would be much appreciated.

The fanblew only hot air, and it did it all the time without stopping, whether it was on oroff. There was no way to stop the hot air from blowing right out. The ford dealership looked atthe vehiclefor $100, and said that the blend-door was stuck on heat, and that it would cost me another $1600 to get it fixed. The motor wasn't even broken, and it was that expensive. They said they would have to take the dashboardapart to get to the plastic plenum, which they would replace with another plastic breakable plenum.
1998 lincoln towncar plastic intake leakage problems from cracks that originated from oem faulty design. I would like to state, "ford and/or his legal distributor did not disclose that the design of the plastic intake manifold was defective and did not contact me thereafter in regard to this matter when and after i purchased said vehicle".if ford's legal distributor had disclosed the defective design i would not have bought the vehicle.the cost for the repair and the possibility of engine damage is enormous. Ford should be held liable for neglect to disclose this information for buyer's of this vehicles.

1. The climate control system blows out 150+ degree hot air at all times.this hot air bounces off the side glass and into the driver's face.the result is blurred vision, drousiness, and fatigue.the problem is especially onerous in the south and gulf coast states.ford is aware of the problem.the dealer is aware of the problem.ford refers the problem to the dealer; the dealer says the problem is an engineering defect for which ther is no cure. The dealer said the chief of climate control for the lincoln-mercury division says no "fix" will be forth coming until the complaint level begins to affect sales. More and more cars are appearing on the road with "discharge" blue headlamps.i'm 67 and find driving at night much more difficult when blue headlamps are coming toward me.other elderly people tell me that these headlamps on other cars are much more dazzeling.i hate to think what night driving will be like when the majority of cars have the super-bright "discharge" lamps.has and study been done to determine what limits should be placed on the "dazzle power" of headlamps.thanks.

I have had a brake problems with the front brakes they kept locking-up and smoking1 first round they changed a front right hub and sensor, that lasted about 1 mile that was around$425.00 dollars. Picked up the car drove it home 1/4 mile the abs light came on. This time it had to be towed back to the dealer. Car sat for one week because a tech was on vacation! then i got a call from my service rep and gave me price around $3200.00 for the repair. After thinking how much money i put in the car over the years i gave her the go ahead to do the work. Another 3/4 week went by the job was know completed so i picked up the car drove it to work. Again it did the same problem the front wheels locked-up but this time i drove & made it to the dealer. I called ahead of time so she was waiting for me to pull into their yard. She saw the smoking pads so i asked her to drive the car and it just bearly moved because the front wheels were locked-up. This time a day went by and i was told it needed another part but they would do it for cost. I asked for the service manager cortney to look at my bills and do the right thing on my invoices. There was no charge for the last job . 1st bill = front hub and sensor$ 420.00 2nd bill = abs pumpasy /hoses assy-frt and rear brk/caliper hoses/kit-brk anti/lk v/blk abs module/brake fluid/470 cpm/labor$ 3463.14 3rd bill =$ 400.00 after conversation with service this was waived.i spent almost $ 4000.00 on parts and labor on my car and it did the same thing until they changed the booster pump behing the master clinder could this have been the whole problem? i have saved the parts do i need to have them tested for proper operation? i feel a refund for the trial and error should be given because if you look at my ro's the list is about 6 feet tall. I am a good customer and i have spent a lot of money at the dealer over the years but this time i am upset
My 1998 lincoln town car (approx 35,000 miles) dramatically pulls to the right during braking when road conditions arewet and the car is travelling in excess of 40 miles per hour. This problem is addressed in fordmotor company's repair bulliten 98-13-4 dtd 07/06/98.notwithstanding having the car repaired by an ase certified mechanic (napa approved) in accordance with the service bulliten the problem has reoccured after 3,000 miles. This is an extremely dangerous condition which could result in a serious accident, particularly since the problem only occurs at highway speeds when traffic conditions are already dangerous because of wet conditions.

Accident 7/11/04wife rear ended a dodgedorango and totaled her lincoln town car. She didn't see thr car stop in front of her quick enough when applying the brakes the car went in a nice straight line but did not have good braking . I found this to be true when driving this car myself . Now we have to pay the price of increased ins. And a bad mark . My wife has never had an accident but there is no room for this in the ins. World even though the car had a engineering problem as so recorded by mycarstats.com and others.this car and ford products were ===improved=== in 1999 or 2000 but of course there is no problem.

Starting in march 2001 i started to regularly get flat tires during my warranty period but thought nothing of it. In nov 2001 i had a blowout on the expressway at 60mph and almost lost control of my car and crashed. It was not until recently when a tire retailer told me this was common knowledge by ford and tire dealers. The aluminum rims have a cheap, thin chrome coating inside and carode and peel causing slow leaks. This is very potentially fatal on the highway. I tried to get ford to look at it but they dont care. They told me even though it started in my warranty period i would have to pay them $150 because my warranty period was over. Do i have to die????????? please recall all these rims!!!!!! on sat 8-30-03 i had a flat in brooklyn and was stranded for 2hrs until a service changed my donut.whem my tire was repaired they showed the rim to me. The chrome coating was peeling in large pieces. They grinded the rims and coated them with someting and told me it will be temporary. Do we have to wait for someone to have a blowout on the highway and get killed?????please do something.

While traveling approximately 70 mph vehicle jumped out of cruise control and accelerated uncontrollably. Consumer was able to stop vehicle without incident.dealership has examined vehicle, but unable to find cause through a diagnostic and driven examination.
Sudden uncontrollable surge in power upon starting propelled the car resulting in collision and damage to property.yh
Vehicle was inside of a car wash.shifted gear andvehicle surged in uncontrollable speed and merged into another vehicle. Then, came to a complete stop.
Whenever pressure is applied to accelerator pedal, vehicle would stall out or die. Took to dealer & informed anti-slip would dethrottle engine.would happen in traffic. Took to another dealer & informed the same thing. Anti-slip keeps wheel from spinning on wet pavement.

The fuel filler will not accept gasoline at a normal rate. Even at minimum speed it will shut off and/or spit fuel back. Have used different pumps, different stations, different positions happens almost 100% of the time. Also major water leakage around windshield on passenger side of car.
While driving home from work began hearing a clicking sound pulled over called my husband he came out decided it was safe to drive home, started the car the next morning the heat was blowing at full speed could not turn off had to close all vents and ride with all windows down, took car back to dealer they informed me that the heating& ac had a broken peace took to the shop and paid a little over $1600 to take out my dash and replace it this was 2004. Last month the same thing has happened and i don't feel it's fair that i should keep replacing a faulty part at $1600 an incident lincoln should pay for this part to be replaced since it does not come from normal wear but a cheap part put on a not so cheap vehicle.
Piece which controls the hot air/cold air mixture's door cracked and allowed the sqare metal peg to spin freely in the cracked plastic - eliminating the ability to make the air either hotter or colder.we had to drive 3000 miles (much of it through icy roads and blizzards) without heat of any kind as a result of this defect. Very dangerous conditions, but ford couldn't fit us in at any of their shops due to the length it would take (a week) to fix the problem.this ended up costing us over $2000 for ford to fix upon our arrival home.clearly a defective part since to get to the part a person must remove all the airbags, front seats, dash, and etc. - it isn't something that could have been user caused or user error.this was a very dangerous defect, as it severly limited our visibility (no defrosters).ambient temperature in the vehicle was less than 30 degrees f for 1500 miles.
Heater core in my 1998 linclon t.c. Has been replaced six times in the last four years. Due to designwindshield wipers are not fast enough, and visibility is greatly reduced when precipitation is heavy. The consumer says the wiper problem is a safety hazard during heavy rain or storm.
While raining the right wiper deposits rain in line of sight and with wipers on fast speed under heavy rain it is impossible to see.
When windshield wiper blades are running inrain, they start going slower/ slower and slower until they just stop. Car has been in repair shop twice for wipers, and problem still exists.
While traveling on the highwayand without prior warningwindshield wipers will come on and off.dealer is aware of the problem.

The contact owns a 1998 lincoln town car.the contact stated that the coating on the rims was wearing down and prevent air from remaining in the tires.as a result, she must constantly place air in the tires.the tire dealer stated that the rims needed to be replaced.in addition, the head lamps have to be replaced for the second time because they hold condensation, which shorts out the electrical system.lastly, the seat belts stick and are difficult to use properly.the failure mileage was 90,000 and current mileage was 102,000.
