My 1993 town car caught fire while parked for two days. It burned down the gaaraaaage it was parked in and caught fire the two other neighbors car aand the condo complex where i was visiting. I have witnesses that say they saw the fire staaart from my ford town car. My insurance sent an expert to dig through the ruble and found the defective ignition switch. Ford said my town caar vin number was not one to be recalled. Now i am being sued by the condo complex for parking my car in the garage.

In the beginning i took my car to the lincoln/ford dealerships for all my brake problems (about 4 or 5 times).then i began taking my car to tire/brake shops.still the problems have persisited.i have had everything done, and still not long after every brake job the brakes begin to squeek/pulsate, and the dust returns on the rims of the tires.at first, i used all lincoln/ford parts then i figured they were the problem.i have never had so much trouble with any brakes on any of my previous vehicles.also the paint is peeling, and i have had 2 windows replaced, and 1 is still not working correctly. Plus some kind of idler pulley, something to do with the belt, costs appx. $660.00.

On sunday, nov. 1, 1998 my wife drove the car to church at 202 n. Walnut st., webster, tx. The time was about 10:00 am. About 45 or 50 minutes later someone outside the church reported a lincoln on fire in the parking lot. 911 was called and the webster, tx. Police and the webster fire & rescue units arrived. The fire started in the engine compartment and also eventually burned the dash panel. The rest of the car was not damaged by fire although there was smoke and water damage over all the rest of the car. The fire was reported to state farm insurance co. , telephone (281) 487-4580 on the following monday. The insurance company declared the car a total loss and we agreed to a settlement. The lincoln was in excellent running order prior to the fire. Any maintenance that was required while we owned it was done by mcree ford of dickinson, tx.referenced in ea02-025

The fuel line rusted and ruptured on my town car on september 9, 2004.i called lincoln and they will not even concider looking at this vehicle.my husband is a mechanic and has seen this problem with a 200 navigator...where the brakes and fuel lines were rusted and the brake lines ruptured.i would like this matter looked into and fixed. This is not a wear and tear item and i should not be expected to pay for it. I do not have the $2000.+ that it will cost to repair the vehicle. I mean this is definatly a safty issue.my car could have exploded with me and my son in it on the last 4800 mile trip that we just took after his last 6 month deployment.thank you debra sierens.

Transmission keeps dropping out just like it has gone into neutral gear. One must take is out of overdrive or pull it into a lower gear then it might return to normal operation. I have had back to the dealer on 11 feb,, 29 feb and 14 mar but each time it has been returned to me saying it is okay, we could find no problems with it at least according to the computer.they initially adjusted the mlp sensor, then the next time replaced the mlp sensor and the torque converter, then when it occurred again .they have never opened up the transmission that i am aware of but contend that the trans, diag tells them everything they need to know.nevertheless, the transmission still drops out and the problem has been corrected.as far as i can see the defect that existed during the warrantystill exists but it is such a chore to take it down tonw kansas city and then come back two days later (car is okay) and the problem still exists.help!!

I was working on doing maintenance on my car. Next thing i know, there's a fire. I got it out quickly enough with the original extinguisher. The speed control harness, which had a recall at one point, is burned and a brake line busted. 9f924 is the number for the part. I do not know for certain if this was ever replaced. But it must have been hot enough to catch brake fluid on fire
1993 lincoln town car cruise control would not turn off after applying brakes.while driving the vehicle for approximately 15 miles with the cruise control set at 55 mph i approached a red light and applied the break and the cruise control did not turn off.to avoid a collision the breaks were applied as hard as possible and i put the automatic transmission in neutral, whereas the engine rpm raced but the vehicle stopped accelerating.after the light turned green i put the vehicle back in drive and preceded to the curb where i again put the vehicle in park and turned off the engine.i inspected the throttle and cruise control linkage and found nothing out of the ordinary.i disconnected the cruise control linkage and was able to start the vehicle and the engine idled normally.when i attempted to put the vehicle in drive the transmission would not shift out of park.the vehicle was towed to a mechanic and upon his inspection his only finding was a blown fuse for the brake lights.he changed the fuse and the transmission would now shift out of park.he test drove the vehicle and used the cruise control without any abnormal anomalies.

The fuel line rusted and ruptured on my town car on september 9, 2004.i called lincoln and they will not even concider looking at this vehicle.my husband is a mechanic and has seen this problem with a 200 navigator...where the brakes and fuel lines were rusted and the brake lines ruptured.i would like this matter looked into and fixed. This is not a wear and tear item and i should not be expected to pay for it. I do not have the $2000.+ that it will cost to repair the vehicle. Steel brake / fuel line assembly failure. Heavily rotted due to positioning on frame rail, trapps dirt/ moisture or could just be infirior quality matterials. Manufacturer said they had not documented any problems. The dealer said it wasn't common but knew the repair labor and parts price off top of head. Other lines in other locations on vehicle appeared ok. I have other vehicle much older than this one and original lines are in good shape. Iv'e never seen brake line failure, which occours suddenly resulting in brake failure, in a vehile only 8 years old. Deterioration is extensive.would it really drive the cost of a new vehicle up that much not to mandate stainless steel brake lines as many manufacturers are providing stainless exhaust systems? thank you for this web site frank markut

Theford company claimed (based only on pictures that i sent them) that there was too much fire damage to determine whether the fire was a result of a defective part which had a recall..the fire department's report, which i also provided to ford,states that the fire appearedto be an under the hoodelectrical fire.i received a notice from ford that the speed control deactivation switch was being recalled.the recall notice states that ford cannot be confident that over many years in service, the type of scds installed on my vehicle will not leak, posing the risk of an underhood fire.this condition may occur either when the vehicle is parked or when it is being operated, even if the speed control is not used.yet, when i submitted my claim, i was told that the fire had caused too much damage to determine the cause and was asked to contact my insurance company. To my knowledge, the did not send anyone to inspect the car before making this determination because i had and still have thecar in storage. This is a request that my claim be reconsidered and that i be compensated for my lossesin this matter.

I was working on doing maintenance on my car. Next thing i know, there's a fire. I got it out quickly enough with the original extinguisher. The speed control harness, which had a recall at one point, is burned and a brake line busted. 9f924 is the number for the part. I do not know for certain if this was ever replaced. But it must have been hot enough to catch brake fluid on fire

He said definitely was the speed switch. Ford sent me a letter saying my vin number was not one of the 263,988 cars made that year to be recalled. I called them several times to ask for a response. Ford finally sent me a letter saying "like we told you on the phone, yours is not one that needed to be recalled." my car not only burned up but my father's new town car burned to the ground and his neighbors and the car port they were parked under. Now i have received many letters from the condo lawyers that they are going after my insurance to pay for the car port. I have many pictures a police report every thing needed to show ford we have a problem. They still continue to ignore me.

I have gotten poor work done at these dealerships, my sister drives a honda and has never had all these re-occurring problems. Failed to mention safety defects in the summary.
