"clock spring recall" my air bag explodedwhen i started the vehicle and put it in drive.vehicle filled with smoke, received gashes to my left arm and watch was blown off my wirst. Had car towed to ford dealer. They determined crack in wire on clock spring caused the air bag to explode . Ford recalledf150's and lincoln mark ltfor the clock spring and paid for damages on a lincoln navigator that had the air bag explode just like my experience due to the clock spring. Refer to nhtsa id 10569242. Ford motor co has denied any help for damages.
2006 lincoln navigator was parked.entered vehicle and inserted key in ignition.i cranked the vehicle, sat back to have the car warm up.about 5 seconds after cranking the vehicle, air bag inadvertently deployed without incident.car was filled with white smoke.contacted local ford/lincoln dealership and was told they had never heard of a vehicle airbag deploying without incident.contacted ford/lincoln corporate office and they offered to pay for the diagnostic at local ford/lincoln dealership.diagnostic revealed no accident data, and a defective clockspring mechanism in the steering wheel....same problem as previous recalls in 2006 ford f150 and lincoln mark lt, which obviously share parts with my vehicle.ford/lincoln offered to pay for the repairs, less a $200 deductible because, as they stated my vehicle was not covered under the recall even though it's the same problem that other vehicles were recalled for.

Whenever the car is washed or if it snows or rains the car experiences spontaneous electrical activity when no key or person is present using any aspect of the vehicle.for example, after washing the car, the vehicle will drive perfectly fine, but upon being parked, sometimes hours after being parked, the vehicle will then be observed triggering power seats, airbag warning lights, and clicking sounds can be heard.the vehicle has had a power window motor burn out and a wiring harness related to the power seats corrode and fail costing over $700 in repairs.we believe the reason for these problems is due to the windshield leaking on to some kind of electronic control device such as the gem module and then causing the device to short circuit and trigger various electronic lights/switches.more recently, the vehicle was left outside for two weeks with no use and several feet of snow fell along with some rain and the vehicle's battery is now completely discharged due to the electronic problems/moisture leakage.

The traction control system activates during normal driving conditions.(3) dealer service manger reuben fernandez at freeway lincoln dealership in california has tried to duplicate the condition and has not been successful in doing so. The dealer's service request that i drive the car until thecondition worsens before he can fix the problem. The suv's computer was adjusted and reset. The failure has accrued twice since then. The dealer currentlyhas the suv and iv'e requested the car be replaced by ford.
2006 lincoln navigator, with just over 100,000 miles on vehicle. Vehicle shut down immediately after giving an engine failed safety mode error on dash.fortunately my wife was driving in the neighborhood and doing 25 mph. Muscled it over to the side of the road and restarted the vehicle.this is about the 4th time this has happened in the 5 years we have owned the vehicle. The other times the vehicle was being driven around 45 mph on 4 lane highways/roads.we had a 2003 expedition that had the same problem. Ford motor company definitely has a design issue that impacts safety and they do not want it known.

I was driving at about 40 mph on a two lane road and my navigator just shut off.i looked at the instruments and it said engine fail safe mode.i pulled over as best i could and placed the vehicle in park and turned it back on.luckily i was only about 3 minutes away from home.i read the manual and it mentioned coolant.i checked the coolant but it is completely full.i've been reading about this issue and it seems as if there's a flaw.i've read about how people take their cars in and have different diagnosis and the issue does not get fixed.i will be taking my vehicle in to ford but i'm worried that i'm going to be charged a lot of money and it may not even repair the issue.there are many complaints about the engine fail safe mode with vehicles shutting off on the highway.i'm afraid to drive my car even after i take it in to ford.if i'm able to i will upload my bill once i see ford.
Was driving on the highway and the vehicle went into engine failsafe mode. Was able 2 pull over and turn engine off and restart with noprob. This has happened at least 10 more times since always on acceleration luckily i was not in accidents. Most of the shut offs have been in highway driving conditions at speeds over 55 mph. After research seems this is hard 2 diagnose but ford is aware of this issue. Seems as though it's usually the throttle body but can also be the fuel modulator. Other people have been in accidents i'm just lucky i haven't.

2006 lincoln navigator.fail safe mode comes on while driving and shuts vehicle down.this has happened twice and also exact same incident to friend in different state with same 2006 navigator.decided to report after i called lincoln and they had record of my call in december 2009 and january 2010 but no record of the work performed to correct the problem or the dangerous incident.it happened again september 23, 2010 after it was supposed to have been fixed by changing a sensor. This is extremely dangerous!!car shuts down and my wife was almost rear ended at highway speeds.on google search of "lincoln navigator fail safe mode problems" there are 1380 results.goes to over 2500 when 2006 is removed.during first "fix" ford dealership replaced a sensor but the details are not documented in my file on the ford/lincoln computer system.this could be how ford/lincoln is avoiding a major recall for a extraordinarily dangerous problem.

Engine was missing when trying to accelerate or pass vehicles. Dangerous situation when trying to pass on highways and interstates. Took 2006 lincoln navigator in for new spark plugs. Dealer said all 8 plugs broke off and one damaged the head and now need new head due to broken spark plug. Cost will exceed $3,000. Spoke with 6 local mechanics and all agreed this is a big problem. Why should i pay for ford's faulty design?
Engine shut down at 45 miles an hour. Fail-safe light illuminated followed by a loss of power steering. Coasted car to the side of road and turned key to off position. The engine immediately restarted with no other problems. This car has 79,000 miles on it and i have owned it since new. This has not happened since the car was new. Our 2006 lincoln navigator (with 14,500 miles) that we just bought today was parked in our sloping driveway.my husband and i along with our two kids - 4 yr old son and 22 month old daughter just got into the truck to go somewhere and i just turned on the car, put my foot on the brake pedal and changed the gear from park to reverse.and the next thing i know, the truck was rolling down our sloping driveway and road in reverse and i just didn't know why that was happening because i had my foot on the brake.i just kept pressing on the brake pedal and nothing was happening.since it was downhill, it just kept going really fast and even putting the auto shiftback into park didn't slow it down until it swerved and rammed in reverse into a city fence which is what halted the vehicle. My entire family is completely shaken by this.we just called the police, called our insurance, etc.truck has been removed by cutting the fence, etc and has been towed. Further internet search has revealed (on edmunds) 2006 lincoln navigator brake failure.my entire family could have been seriously injured in this incident.

Suspension is making noises, and the running board is rusty and bolts came out or broke off, and there is a crack in it, had i not been holding on when i got out of car i would have falling. I had it check and the other side is rusty also and about to come off.

2006 lincoln navigator with power deploying running boards. Both sides have failed due to the structural support post corroding to the point of mechanical failure. When this fails a passenger stepping on it can be hurt due to a fall so it is a safety issue. Again this is a structural frame member that is failing catastrophically due to corrosion.
Takata inflators do not work in cold weather. Below a certain temperature the car begins to bounce uncontrollably. Makes for a dangerous situation when driving and this begins to ocurr.
In cold weather the cars air suspensions stops working and the car starts bouncing all over the place while driving. This to me is dangerous especially on when occurring on long trips. This is a common problem that i am seeing all over the internet.

The contact stated that the air suspensions were lowered to the point where the contact could not steer the vehicle or make sharp turns. Allen visual ford in monroe, georgia was made aware of the failure and replaced the air suspensions, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The motor running boards, the aluminum piece that suppose to hold the running boards to the vehicle, broke off without any warning.how does this happen?i am driving, stop at the light and make a left turn, and all of a sudden i hear these sound like my running board are sliding out.i pull over and the entire running board is hanging out completely away for the vehicle.luckily there was no other cars beside me.i had to push it back in and drove very slowly so it would not fall back out and hit another car.this is dangerous and could have cause a serious car accident.the running board needs to be checked on all 2006 lincoln navigators as soon as possible.
Drove the vehicle off road, hit a severe pothole, air ride suspension has constantly failed and ford has never repaired it.
Air bags shocks.
A notification appeared on the screen to check suspension while driving on the freeway at least 65 miles per hour.
We have had our navigator in many of times we have had all of the parts in the suspension changed. We have also put in a new compressor. Drove just fine in the summer spring and fall. Once we got our 1 st cold day we have no suspension again. This is my only car and its a family car. Traction does not work when the suspension is out. On slippery roads truck is all over the road. There is nothing the dealer can do they have done everything they can and it still does not wor . I am afraid i will go off the road with my kids in the suv. Also with no suspension my back is now out just driving it to the store. Something needs to be done or lincoln should buy all of them back. We have less then 90,000 on the suv. When asked when this happened it happens every day its cold out.
The suspension on this suv is extremely dangerous i have replaced the suspension airbags oh rings compressors multiple times and each time it turns cold and i live in arizona the car drops and on able to drive it due to extreme violent shaking to wear the car seems like it's going to roll over something needs to be done with the suspension on this vehicle lincoln needs to own up to this mistake
Air suspension on my vehicle begins to bounce in cold weather. Apparently this is a common issue. It is due to a faulty o-ring. I was on a long distance trip and ran into cold weather and the car started bouncing uncontrollably. I feel this could be very dangerous in certain conditions
Suspension goes out frequently for over 2 years and everything has been checked out and ford says nothing is wrong after each repair. I don't understand the rules to getting a vehicle replaced but my concerns are above and beyond the rules and should be considered for our safety and well being.we have been in the shop at least 7-10 times during this time.all goes back to same issue - suspensionin june of 2009 we purchased a 2006 lincoln navigator for nearly $30,000, with the understanding that if we took reasonable care of the care that this would be a dependable, reliable vehicle for our family of 5.since early 2010 we have had nothing but ongoing problems with the suspension system in this car. We have gone nearly two months and $4,000 in car bills during this time driving other cars from dealers while they have been working on our vehicle.started with buying a new control module, then ride height sensors, and on to the latest buying a new air compressor. Car broke down on vacation and they said control module (which was just replaced) and needed to order it so we would have been stranded in florida for nearly a week and this would have been the 3rd new control module put into our car.so ford pumped us up with air and put something in car for nearly $700 and ensured us that will get us back to michigan safely until we could get the new module. Made it 2 hours into our trip and the suspension dropped out on us again. Been nearly 2 years with the same issue.our car has just been taken back in today 1/20/2014 because of the same issue. It broke down on us on our way to a work function this time, so i missed work and we dealt without having car again. Got new air compressor for $900 and it worked for a week this time.bottomed out again and they said every test performed fine again. When will ford/lincoln listen and take action running out of money.
The contact owns a 2006 lincoln navigator. While driving approximately 10 mph, the contact applied pressure to the accelerator pedal and the vehicle exhibited an abnormal cranking noise from the front end. The contact stated that the failure would also occur when applying the brakes and when driving at low speeds. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician was unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 36,000.
We have been having braking and transmission issues with our 2006 lincoln navigator and have been told today that the vehicle has issues with brake rotors overheating, abs failure and transmission failure. We have been told these conditions can happen suddenly as we have experienced.
The rear driver side tire valve core was coming out (almost completely). It was sticking out so far that i was unable to screw tire valve cap on completely. By screwing the valve cap tightly would actually cause the valve core to be pushed in which would allow the air to escape from the tire. I have been told that this is a common problem with the tire valves which have the tire pressure sensor attached to them.
It starts shaking then it says engine fail safe modeand then turns off while driving
Accelerator stuck full open when putting in reverse to back out of my carport.my foot was on the brake and the vehicle (2006 navigator) burnt rubber for two feet before i cut the ignition.the dealer checked and found no discrepancy on file or with the vehicle.
The contact owns a 2006 lincoln navigator. While driving approximately 65 mph the "engine fail safe mode" warning indicator illuminated on the instrument panel.he applied pressure on the accelerator pedal, and received low vehicle power. He pulled to the side of the road and restarted the engine to resume normal vehicle operation. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for inspection.the failure was contributed to the engine throttle switch.the vehicle has not been repaired for the malfunction.thefailure mileage was 57,000.the current mileage was 61,000.the vin was unavailable.
During normal driving conditions, the car gave in rapid succession a number of warnings and the car began to run rough and shift erratically.one related to the stability control system and the other was a "etc engine failsafe mode".after restarting the car the stability control error persisted.the dealer replaced sensor assembly 6l2z*3c187*aa for ~ $1000 for the part and labor + the battery and indicated no other codes were stored relating to the fail safe warning.the fail safe warning returned a few weeks later and the dealer was unable to replicate or capture any codes over a 2 day period.
The contact owns a 2006 lincoln navigator.on july 17, 2009, while driving approximately 23 mph, the contact felt the steering pull to the right.she attempted to keep it centered and then heard a loud noise.the front passenger side of the vehicle instantly collapsed and she crashed into a parked vehicle.the contact stated that the wheel was broken in the center and the tire was detached.a police report was filed.the vehicle was towed to a tow yard and the insurance company will conduct an investigation.the contact injured her right knee.the current and failure mileages were 80,000.
2006 lincoln navigator owned or leased by my daughter/son in law almost lost left rear wheel on january 27, 2008.upon inspection, left rear wheel was found to be loose. When hub cap was removed it was discovered that two of the threaded wheel lugs had broken off with the lug nuts still on the broken part of the studs. The other four lug nuts where loose.this vehicle was carrying three baby girls (triplets) and their mother and father when this incident occurred.the vehicle was within a minute or so of loosing the wheel. With potentially disastrous results.the wheel studs should never have separated even if they were overtightened. The threads should have stripped first.wheel studs may have been defective and this should be investigated.vehicle was returned to dealership for repair.
