Spark plugs!!i have a 98 lincoln navigator, i just had a 60,000 mile service completed on it 3,000 miles ago.the truck was sputtering and stalling out in traffic, the lincoln dealership assured me it was a hose egr/pcv, i can't really recall which.they replaced the hose along with the service.i deploy to korea in sep 02', and i get a call from my wife the truck is doing the same thing.so she takes it to a different lincoln dealership, they inform her that a spark plug is rusted and frozen in the head assy.they also inform her that the upper half is broken off, and the lower half is still in the head.i call to ask is this something that should have been caught on one the regular services, and he said "maybe".that is all he would say , he said he could not comment on what another dealership should have done.so i'm getting nowhere, but out of $14-$1,500.my complaint is that how is something like this suppose to caught if no one ever checks under the spark plug covers even for condition and security.i had this truck checked before i left so i would feel good that my wife and kids wre in a reliabl/safe vehicle, when in fact that truck could of stalled out when she was passing or even caught on fire or something.that is my complaint.
Woke at 4:00am to the smoke and fire of our vehicle fully engulfed in flames from the engine compartment. The vehicle was located in our driveway. It was parked at about 9:50am the day before..roughly about 18 hours before it caught on fire. My wife and mother in law got our three kids out into the back yard. Two of the kids were within 20-25 ft. Of the fire when they were sleeping. I went out to the garage and tried extinguishing the fire with a fire extinguisher, but was unable to do any good. I then hooked up the water hose and began using the hose on both the car and the side of our housewith most of my efforts on keeping the house wet since the vehicle was only about 8ft from the house. I got hit in the leg and chest with material that flew when one of the tires blew out. Later, the other front tire and windshield blew. The vehicle was totally destroyed, mostly from the front. The siding on the house was buckled from the heat, and the garage doors and concrete bib around the driveway needed to be pressure cleaned to remove all the smoke residue. Our insurance company took the truck on a flatbed and declared it a full loss. The fire department told me that had i not stuck it out and risked my life keeping water on both the house and the vehicle that the house would have definitely caught on fire, although i was told that i shouldn't have taken the chance.

The radiator in my navigator failed due to busted core tubes and seaking seams.i have contacted the dealership and they requested an invoice with reason for replacement.i sent this information to them and they never contacted me as to whether i would be reimbursed.i then called themn and they said they would return my call of which they never did. I then filed complaints with consumer protection agency, fla. Dept. Of agriculture & consumer services, and called other agencies.since these agencies said i did not have any recourse, because the suv was locally repaired and the lincoln/mercury dealer did not do the work i didn't have a leg to stand on.since the first incident the radiator has had to be replaced again, with the same problem.i am a little old lady 59 years old who does not miss use my vehicle, therefore i suspect i have been taken advantage of by requesting repayment of the repairs made last october.
I drove from maine to mass.approx 170 miles, we stopped at my boyfriends mothers house for 20 min.i got back in my car started it up and it had a horrendous noise under the hood.it sounded like a motorcycle was in my engine.i did not feel safe to drive it anywhere.we had to have it towed home and our mechanic told us the bad ...awful news and the expense.i have a blown spark plug and need a helicoil resulting in a new motor or mine being taken apart (which one is cheaper)i am a single mom and cannot afford to replace the part as i have a $350 a month payment on this vehicle!!!fortunately this happened while we were parked and starting it up and not somewhere on the mass or maine interstate.contacting ford hasn't worked, i just got a generic email acting like this is news to them yet i can find documentation all over the internet from people with the same issue!!!!

The contact owns a 1998 lincoln navigator. While driving approximately 65 mph, the rear of the vehicle independently swayed from side to side without warning. In addition, the contact mentioned that the brake pedal was depressed, but failed to respond and the rear of the vehicle began to scrape across the ground. The contact mentioned that the vehicle stopped independently. After inspecting the vehicle, the contact discovered that the lug nuts on the rear passenger side wheel fractured and caused the wheel to disengage from the vehicle. The entire rear of the vehicle was fractured. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the frame, the drive shaft, the trans axle, the transfer case, the rear axle, the bearing, and the rear lug nuts needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 69,000.

Ipurchased my lincoln navigator in 1998. The problem i have is that the airbags filled up while driving and cause the vehicle to to swerve. The suspension stays in the up position. I have had this problem corrected once and it cost me $500.00 dollars.when the airbags fill with air the truck is raised in the rear to a very unsafe driving height that shifts most of the weight of the truck onto the front wheels. The first time i encountered this problem was at 55000 miles and now at 96500 the problem has occured again. I'm sure the dealer will not repair my $50,000.00 vehicle without charge, but i'm still headed for the dealership next week to get the problem corrected because it is to unsafe to drive in the condition it is in now.dt
