Takata recall. I received a letter in july 2016 that my passenger airbag was on recall. The letter stated:" a ruptured inflator may result in metal fragments striking vehicle occupants causing serious injury or death." it is now sept. 21, 2016 and i have been calling lincoln company asking when will my airbag part be available. It was learned that lincoln is "in the development stage" to produce the part!not only do they not have a part, they have not even developed the part yet!!"i spoke to three different people at lincoln customer service and a supervisor about this situation. They all stated they have no idea when a part would be available, even though i am in florida zone a for the most serious case of inflator malfunction. Since receiving the letter, i have not allowed anyone to sit in the front seat passenger seat.....and will not until this matter is fixed.hence, i have not had the use/enjoyment/comfort of the automobile that i purchased.this is very unacceptable.the worst part of this to me is that the three people i spoke to at lincoln said, "it is safe to drive the car and use that seat, since the letter did not indicate a loaner car would be issued."how in the world can anyone get a letter like this and then the company say the likes of "oh don't worry."????their logic is totally insane and illogical.unfortunately, i understand that over 50 million cars+ are on recall for this matter and it is a nightmare for the car companies.however, i can not worry about them, i have to worry about my grandson, or any other passengers! how long will i have to make people sit in the backseat of my car?????

While driving down the highway with no warning my engine started knocking real bad and then i lost all power due to the engine stopping. Had i been on an interstate with lots of traffic this could have been a very dangerous situation. After a tow and taking the car to a ford dealership. I found out that the water pump failed and allowed coolant to go into the oil pan, causing damage to the bearing on the pistons. After research i found this is a design flaw with fords 3.5 engine and millions of cars are on the road now that will eventually experience this failure. I have recently had the car into a ford dealership and had they told me of this problem and the fix was to replace the water pump before it failed, i wouldn't have been subjected to this dangerous driving condition and my engine wouldn't now be a paperweight.

I had heard a wheezing noise in the front end so i took the car to my mechanic. He was unable to find a problem. A week after while driving the car i was driving and as i turned the car completely shut down. Two days later it began to not drive properly i took the car back to the mechanic and said i had a bad sensor but the water pump was going bad. He stated it shouldn't go bad in this newer of a car. My car has been undrivable ever since. I've called around to get it fixed as though it seems nobody has the proper tools to fix this issue due to the fact the whole engine needs to be removed to fix the problem.

The hybrid mode does not work anymore after 9 years. The vehicle hesitates upon acceleration. It will only run on the internal combustion engine even though the battery is fully charged. Ford knows about the problem as noted in their oasis 8922.

If i had not hit the post the car would have gone in to a lake and i might have drowned. I was alone the car - and i had about $10,000 damage to my car. I, as well as my mechanic, want to know why lincoln gets out of taking care of their defective taillight issue on vehicles that have salvage titles? it would be one thing if the lights were damaged or destroyed in the accident - but if a car has been back on the road for years, yet meets the other criteria - why should i have to pay for taillights that went out at 60,000 miles? it's a safety issue. This isn't a window switch, it's something i can be ticketed for or can cause an accident. Please explain to me why this safety issue is optional for the lincoln company. Mine has been out for a year, i lost my job due to health issues several years ago, have no money to deal with it - and you have made it so lincoln doesn't have to.i have talked to them locally, their corporate number - and my mechanic had me contact the state patrol person who deals with dealers. Nobody cares.

At 44k mils, passenger seat switch & motor w/track malfunctioned for seat seldom used. Caruso lincoln dealer was able to get warranty repair done on door problem.i did not even attempt warranty repair on seat problem preferring to pay and pay off vehicle asap and rid myself of it.

The 2011 mkz front seats have a hard block i think is the box for the seat controls that if you sit in it for more than a few minutes starts hurting the back of your legs.it actually takes your attention away because it is so un comfortable you are always adjusting the way you are sitting. I took it in for service and the service tech felt it and told me that he thought something was wrong too.he called me the next day and told me that the seat was the standard and that is the way they were made there wasn't anything they could do.when i went back to the dealer to pick up my mkz i went into the show room to feel the seats in the new mkzs and they are all the same.i filed a complaint with customer service, they said the seat was standard but if they get enough complaints they might do something. This is the most uncomfortable seat i have ever had, taking a long trip is not pleasant.

I was traveling down a hill that ends with a stoplight on a backroad in the city. The light turned red, i applied my brakes and my foot went to the floor with no brake pressure. I was able to pull over and use my emergency brake to stop me. There was no fluids visible.

At any given time the brakes will go out in the car and give a fault code to check abs system. This has happened 4 times over a 2 year period, one of those times i was going 55 mph and went to stop at a yellow light. My brakes failed and i ended up running the red light almost hitting a car starting to cross from the other direction. Once you shut off the car and turn it back on the brakes work again like nothing was ever wrong. I took the car to the dealership and they were not able to find anything wrong with the car. Each time it has done this the dealership can't find anything wrong. I've seen other people having the same issue that has caused accidents, i'm not sure why there hasn't been anything done about it yet.

Car in question: 2011 lincoln mkz hybrid, 163,287 km (101,484 miles).driving on a city street all of the sudden warning lights come on: abs, traction control, giant wrench, p/brake light, service advancetrac. Brake pedal all the way to the floor, i blew a stop sign, as car was slowing down, but than just rolled thru the intersection. Had to use a parking brake to come to a complete stop when i was looking for a safe spot to pull over. Had to replace hydraulic control module and abs module.

The contact owns a 2011 lincoln mkz. While the contact's wife was driving and attempting to apply the brakes, the brake pedal lowered slowly. The contact stated that his wife struck a flower pot on a nearby lawn and had to apply the emergency brake to stop the vehicle. The air bags did not deploy. There were no injuries. A police report was filed. The vehicle was not towed. The contact took the vehicle to a certified mechanic who repaired the master cylinder, but the failure recurred. The contact returned the vehicle to the certified mechanic who discovered a mechanism under the brake pedal that prohibited the brake pedal from being able to be depressed appropriately. The mechanism was removed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure; however, the contact had not yet received a response. The failure mileage was 40,000.the consumer stated there was an obstruction above the gas and brake pedals. The obstruction prevent the driver from applying the necessary pressure to the pedals. A mechanic stated the failure was due to poor response timing of the vehicle's master cylinder. The master cylinder was replaced, but the failure recurred several more times.the vehicle was involved in 2 accidents due to the failure.

I was driving at roughly 35mph suddenly and without any warning lights or chimes, my brakes lost pressure, the pedal then sunk to the floor.upon pumping the brakes a few times i was able to slow to a stop but the pedal then continued to sink to the floor.upon going all the way to the floor, the car barely stops and pulls hard left, as if the passenger side front brakes aren't working.

The contact owns a 2011 lincoln mkz. While driving various speeds, the brake pedal was applied and traveled to the floorboard without warning. The vehicle was towed to craft hyundai (2625 lakeside dr, lynchburg, va 24501, (434) 455-7060) where it was diagnosed that the calipers, front brake pads, master cylinder, and brake hydraulic control needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the parts needed to be replaced again. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to nhtsa. The failure mileage was approximately 92,000.

After my wife driving approximately 1/2 mile out of the driveway she lost all of her brakes. The brake pedal went to the floor with no resistance, she shut off the ignition and the car coasted to a stop. She managed to get it back home by turning the ignition on and off. She called autonation ford and had them toe it in. Autonation ford confirmed that all braking was lost and they said there was a short in the abs control module. My service advisor stated that he had never seen an entire brake system failure like this.i asked them why an abs control module failure would result in loss of hydraulic braking. They had no answer and were quite indifferent to the loss in braking since they stated that the car is equipped with an emergency brake. Can you believe it????since the car was 4 months out of warranty they wanted to charge me $2,000.00 for the repair. I negotiated with a ford warranty associate and she agreed to pay half of the repair costs. Any vehicle that can lose all braking without a redundant backup is unacceptable. After getting the car fixed i traded it in. The total cost to me was about $20,000.00.i am particularly concerned for all of the unsuspecting families driving the mkz. Just imagine! no brakes at 50 mph coming to a stop light, hitting the car stopped in front of you, and having your family and the other vehicles' family carted off to the morgue.i tried to explain the potentially serious outcome of a total brake failure to both the autonation ford service advisor and to the ford warranty associate. They were more interested in not covering the car under the warranty than the seriousness of the failure.in conclusion, i sincerely hope that the nhtsa investigate this failure mode and have ford make the necessary design changes and recall the vehicles with an appropriate fix.

I started my car and pressed the pedal to shift into reverse and started to back up from a parking spot. The pedal suddenly went to the floor and the car kept moving, pulled the emergency brake. Had warning lcd icons in red about brakes. Tried shutting car off and restarting to see if condition changed, no change, pedal went to floor and no pressure.checked for leaks under car and no leaks of brake fluid were present.as i could build pressure slowly and had the ebrake, i drove slowly to the nearest dealer.while driving other messages came on to service advance trak and the yellow wrench.pedal would make contact with brakes at the very lowest point or by pumping brakes otherwise i would have not driven to the nearby dealer.i could have gotten into a serious accident had this happened at higher speeds than backing out of a spot because its so sudden and your stopping distance is greatly affected even with something so slow as adjusting a parking job.car had around 96,140 miles when it happened.this is a very dangerous condition as even at low speeds i needed a large distance to stop safely before cars in front of me. Car is at the dealer and was just quoted 1,100 dollars but this does seem to be the same issue i read about for previous years recalls and should be investigated.

I was driving, normally around town. My brakes have been working find and normal up until this point. Then, all of sudden i went to press my brakes and the pedal almost went to the floor. Luckily, there was not any cars in front of me or was at an intersection. Several warning lights came on: check engine wrench, abs light, service advance track and e brake light. So, i was close to my home and i drove it slowly to my house and checked underneath the hood. The brake fluid level was fine and no brake line leaks whatsoever. Next, i researched the problem online and found out that it is an abs module failure. I also found out that ford had a recall on their abs system, but for only years 2006-2010. Go figure, the new module costs over $500 plus, then labor charges and a dealer has to reprogram the abs system. Wow, what a super expensive unforeseen repair pill.

My brakes completely gave out forcing me to use the handbrake. I took it to a ford service shop and they said the problem was the hydraulic control unit. The part itself is on hold due to a recall. However, my car has not been placed on the recall list.i ended up paying out of pocket to have it fixed but was advised that ford could reimburse me once nhtsa sends the recall notice.side note: ford was the third shop i took it to. The other two mechanics could not diagnose the problem.the attached invoice has my name wrong. It's [xxx].information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The vehicle remained without brakes while driving.one week and i have no news.please call lincoln and how the car carries for 8 years, they did not want to do anything when it is something of safety and life.

My car couldn't break, suddenly got warning while driving through a parking lot by walmart store. Red "check brake system" yellow "service advance trac" "break" and "abs" dash lights started popping up and i could not even break a little bit even after stepping on the break pedal real hard, i was fortunate enough to not having anyone in front of me on the parking lot as i absolutely couldn't break!!!!!! i put my blinkers on and placed the car in parking gear, yet it wouldn't stop!!i finally had to turn off the ignition then there was a big shake and the engine stalled finally and vehicle came to a halt. Vehicle had to be towed to the local dealership via aaa towing. The local lincoln dealership did not showany concern and were completely ignorant of my narrating this to them. They simply slapped a charge of $3061 and said that it needs replacing abs module anda change of hcu (hydraulic control unit) and stated that there is no recall on these components. I called lincoln global to place a complaint and to check if this was a 'known' issue with lincoln mkz 2011 model. They said currently they do not have a recall on this component. I strongly believe this is a serious safety concern as it affects brakes directly and there is zero possibility to stop the vehicle. I was fortunate this occurred in a parking lot where there was not anyone in front of my vehicle while it occurred. While i'm working with the dealership on getting the price of the service a little down, thats not of my main concern.the brake failure of this nature could be fatal for both driver/passenger and people on the way of the vehicle. Please lodge this as a recall investigation/complaint. There is no issue found with the break pads or break lining, drum etc. All are normal. Vehicle is regularly maintained withsame lincoln dealership at all times at all given intervals.

I drive a 2011 lincoln mkz and today i had a bit of a problem. A coworker of mine needed to be taken to a hyundai dealership so that she may pick up her vehicle for some servicing that she had done, and during my attempt at parking i lost my power steering. At first i couldn't move the car so i had put my vehicle in park and then i turned it off. I had turned to my coworker and she had noticed my difficulty steering. I had then started my car once again and tried to park but this time i was capable of steering. The number of turns it took to actually steer were far beyond the usual and it was coupled with a chatter that i both could feel and hear. Luckily i opted for a warrant that included roadside assistance and i had my vehicle towed to the dealer. I've yet to receive any sort reply from my dealer and i will surely keep the appropriate authorities notified.

Steering is very heavy and sometimes fails completely especially when slowing down to a stop.it is most pronounced when slowing into a curve.the power steering pump also becomes noticeably louder.this is an ongoing problem since buying the car 2 months ago.

While driving 35 mph in good, dry, weather, the dashboard warning "service power steering" appeared then the "advance trac off" dashboard signal appeared.the car was parked, turned off, then when the car was turned on again, the power steering was absent and the warning lights reappeared, this time as "service power steering now".steering the car was possible but very difficult.the power steering remained non-functional until the car was diagnosed by the dealer, although no work or outcome was reported by the dealer.actually, the dealer recommended that the rack and pinion system be replaced.the suggested work was declined and when the car was returned, the power steering was working and the dashboard warning "service power steering now" was off, although the "advance trac off" signal remained until 4 minutes later while driving on the highway.

Took the car to the dealership they said they fixed the issue (replaced power steering motor and reprogrammed). Picked up the car and within 16 hours as i was making a turn the same issue happened. The car is currently still at the dealership with no solution to the problem. There seems to be a recall out for 2011 mkz for this reason but for some reason my car vin doesn't pull up that recall.

We purchased the vehicle on the test-drive requested that the dealership address the front-end noise.have taken the vehicle 3 separate times for repair of the front-end noise.after 3rd time at repair by dealer, discovered the 'noise' was the right front strut and ball joint failure.the dealership we purchased vehicle did not consider this a safety issue.you could take the right-front tire and shake from side-to-side with all tires on the ground.we have had to spend over $2000 and have not been able to drive a new car before the 30 tag expired.

My wife got to the mall and tried to get out of the car and the door would not unlatch. She called me frantic asking what to do. She did not dare ask a stranger, so i told her to wait and i would be right there. She was very upset by the time i got there.-20 min. The door opened normally from the outside. Later i took the door apart and found that a plastic part of the handle that transfers motion to the door latch had broken. This seems like a poor design and/ or a poor choice of material. In a different circumstance or location this could have been a life threatening event. I believe the design or material should be changed before someone is injured or worse killed.

When pulling out of driveway the front passenger door opened.wasn't able to latch the door. I had to put a bungee cord to keep door from opening. The car isn't safe to drive. The vehicle will be towed to get repaired.

The contact owns a 2011 lincoln mkz. While the driver was attempting to open the front driver's door, there were flames on the door panel. The driver extinguished the fire. The latch on my driver's side door slipped. The door won't open from the inside & gets stuck open. There is an active recall of the same nature on other years, same make & model: ford recall 15s16. Issue occurred when i was trying to open door.

The front drivers door will no longer open from the inside.this started on september 30, 2016 while i was on a road trip.i thought maybe it was a fuse or electrical problem.i started rolling the window down to open the door from the outside.we went to the ford dealership and was told the part was back ordered by more than 700 parts.if we hold two parts of the handle at the same time we can get the door open.i have carpal tunnel and that is sometimes difficult.when i asked about a recall i was told not yet but the problem has been corrected in later models.if it is ever recalled we will get our repair money back.it has been several weeks and we are still waiting for the part.if i am in an accident or need to get out of the car in a hurry this is definitely a safety hazard.what if i lose power and cannot get the window down.i can not valet park.i was told and well as saw it on the internet that this is a widespread problem with the mkzs and ford fusions.this is a safety hazard.
