Takata recall- received letter from big valley ford at 3282 auto center in 2016 saying that airbag needed replacement and they would contact us when they had replacement for the airbags. To date they have never contacted us. Received a notice about chapter 11 case # 17-11375 concerning airbags. Looked up car information on nhtsa site and confirmed car had recall for airbag. Called big valley ford in stockton ca. At 1-800-871-8112 and was told that until someone takes over airbag business they have no airbags available to replace our current defective airbag. This was left on our voice message system yesterday 11/15/17 at 4:27pm by jackie at big valley ford (209-870-4361). My question is what do we do now and how do we get this dangerous defect fixed? apparently ford doesn't put airbags in their cars any more since they have none to replace the one they chose to put in the car i drive. Hopefully we will never be in an accident where the known defective airbagis deployed.
My car is on recall for faulty air bag on passenger side of car.i received a letter telling me i would be notified of when and where to go for replacement.that has been over a year now and i'm still waiting.i worry about this problem every time i ride in my car.please advise---
I have been trying for years to get a replacement airbag due to recall from commercial ford in aransas pass, tx who services my car.they say they never received any airbags.my recall states that no one should sit in my passenger seat yet i cannot get the airbag replaced.what is my next step?
Takata recall--i received notification of nhtsa recall 16v-384 in a letter from lincoln motor company dated july, 2016, which stated that i would be notified when parts were available for the repair.in december, 2017 a 2nd letter arrivedfrom lincoln advising me that i should not allow anyone to sit in the front row passenger seat, and that lincoln expected remedy parts to be available in the spring of 2018.on 6/11/18 a 3rd letter arrived from lincoln dated may,2018 advising me that parts are anticipated to be available during the 2nd and 3rd quarter of 2018, and that lincoln would pay up to $45 per day for a rental vehicle while waiting for parts.however, $45 per day will not cover the cost of renting an equivalent vehicle.a call to lincoln informed me that that car rental allowance has been increased to $55 per day (which will still not cover the cost of renting an equivalent vehicle.i live in south florida where the hot humid climate puts my car at greater risk.in the more than two years since the first recall notice ford and lincoln have continued to build and sell new vehicles (presumably with safe passenger air bags).if they are able to install safe air bags in new vehicles, they should be able to use the same technology and parts to repair my vehicle.anything nhtsa can do to expedite the repair of my vehicle would be greatly appreciated.

Takata inflators:i purchased my lincoln mkz to have a safe family vehicle to transport my 4 month son to and from the hospital over 200 miles away every day! july 2016 i received notice that there were safety concerns with my vehicle and i would be contacted when parts arrived. Then in december 2017 i received another notice saying the same information but also included there are to be no passengers in this vehicle. This vehicle was no longer serving a purpose for my family to get to the hospital with my son. I received another notice in june 2018 that my vehicle was no longer to be driven and i just received my rental car on july 10, 2018... There is still no parts currently being distributed in order to repair my car. My vehicle has sat, i have had to pay a mechanic to come flush it and put in new batteries etc to maintain it after not being driven. I am very grateful to receive this rental car now however, it hardly seems to make it better after paying on a car for two years that was not deemed safe and fully functional. I know that this situation has caused many distraught customers, however for me and my son who was fighting for his life, this situation has truly been a hardship.my son's needs unfortunately, put me in a place where i can'tjust "upgrade". The vehicle was purchased november 2015 with 21,300 miles and today it still has less then 39,000 miles due to it being unfit. A most devastating challenge to my family. I have all supporting documents should anyone wish to see them, i am happy to provide it. At this point it will be hard turning back over the rental car as i finally have the means to care for my son, going back to the sitting lincoln will just bring more problems.i hope someone can understand how emotionally damaging it has been for a family to wait two + years to drive in their vehicle during the most difficult times in their life

Takata recall:fortunately, my auto has not yet been in a situation that would cause the front airbags to deploy, however, lack of action on this airbag recall is causing me economic hardship.i desire to obtain a new vehicle, but am unable to trade in the 2010 lincoln as the dealer said they cannot sell a vehicle under an active recall, and no parts are available to rectify the situation.i've requested an update from the ford dealer in hutchinson, mn multiple times, and have very rudely been told there are no replacement parts and to stop asking.so, i can't safely drive my car, sell my car, or repair it!the trade in value has dramatically decreased in the year i've been trying to get rid of the vehicle.this takes corporate irresponsibility to a whole new level.what is taking so long, and why is ford and its dealerships being allowed to be so rude and irresponsible?

"takata recall"; any passengers of the the vehicle are at risk.
Have had car for eight years and still has not been fixed.
Takata recallwe purchased a 2010 lincoln mkz from a lincoln dealership now owned by "ford galaxy" in houston, tx and have owned the vehicle for 8 years.in july 2016 we received "safety recall notice 16s26" indicating passenger airbag inflator should be replaced and that if a crash necessitating airbag deployment may result in metal fragments striking vehicle occupants causing serious injury or death.since july 2016 we have on numerous occasions requested the airbag inflator be replaced.the lincoln motor company's response has been "we do not have the replacement parts."in december 2017 we received a second recall notice that stated we should "not allow anyone to sit in the first row passenger seat".for 8 years we have been driving a ticking time bomb.it feels like a page out of the old ford pinto playbook. The lincoln service manager at galaxy ford told us this morning that they still do not have replacement inflators.from an owner's perspective, it is unimaginable that lmc cannot find replacements for the defective parts in less than 2 years!is there anything you can do to help resolve this problem?

Takata recall:i want to purchase a new car but because this recall is listed on it for so long a period now, no dealership is willing to offer me any amount close to what my car would be valued otherwise as a trade-in.there is something very wrong with the fact that i am being severely financially punished because of this recall.we are talking many thousands of dollars here. I very much want to know my legal rights in this matter.i also believe that dealers are purposely using this as a way to pressure potential buyers like myself into dumping their vehicles because they feel helpless in this situation.i anxiously await a reply and a solution to this as soon as possible.thank you,[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Takata recall - still waiting since july, 2016 for both our mercury milan and lincoln mkz to have new passenger frontal air bags replaced. Concerned about passenger safety since ford has disconnected them!!! how long must we wait for this to be corrected???
I traded in this 2010 lincoln mkz on november 24, 2018 at classic acura in beaumont, texas. Since that time i have contacted both lincoln motor company by phone and email plus kinsel ford-lincoln of beaumont, texas in person and by phone. These contacts were done multiple times and today i received another recall notice (19s54-abs hcu valve concern (17x29) on the 2010 lincoln that i no longer own. Has not been keeping whoever is the new owner of the 2010 lincoln mkz advised of recalls.
My 2010 lincoln mkz car was struck in the drivers door on 15 april 2011 by another car at an estimated 45 mph. Side impact airbags failed to deploy resulting in driver and passenger being badly injured. Both vehicles were totaled.
I took my 2010 lincoln in to a local garage for annual state inspection.i was told that it would not pass inspection due to both rear brake lights not functioning when parking/headlights are on.i then took it to an authorized ford dealer.they also failed it for a safety inspection sticker and i was told that i needed both rear quarter mount led tail lights.they would cost me approximately $525. Each.i have been forced to look for properly functioning used lights.i have returned 2 lights so far because they malfunctioned the same as mine.this tells me that mine is not an isolated case and many lincoln mkz drivers are operating unsafely, unknown to them.i feel this is a direct safety hazard in light that i was driving without any brake lights for an undetermined time.my 2010 lincoln mkz is only 6,000 miles over the warranty period andsafety recall should be issued by ford motor co.
I was driving my vehicle on a highway when the car stalled out. I tried repeatedly to re-start but it kept stalling. The car was towed to a lincoln dealership near my home and it was determined that the throttle body and pcm had to be replaced which cost me $2128. At the time of the incident, my car had 91,860 miles. I noticed on the lincoln chat sight that other owners complained about the same problem. I was surprised to learn that this extremely dangerous defect was not under recall. Hoping that the ntsb would further investigate. Thank you.
Backed crookedly into parking slot in public parking lot. Tried to straighten car in slot by slowly moving forward. Car on its own lurched ahead at high rate of speed; brakes had little effect and i struck a parked car. Somehow shifted into reverse and car on its own gained ferocious speed traveling backwards. This forward, then backward pattern continued on its own while i struggled to control the steering wheel. In reverse, car continued gaining speed beyond my control, wheeling about the parking lot and striking 3 or 4 additional autos. During all this time the car shot mostly backward at increasingly faster speeds in wide arcs, in pinball fashion. Eventually the repeated hammering by my car against other parked vehicles slowed my car enough that i could brake finally, and turned off the engine. Altogether my auto had struck and seriously damaged 6 other vehicles. Accelerator seemed stuck during the event, and brakes had no effect until car's speed was sufficiently slowed--before operating. Damage to my auto, particularly the entire front end--grill and front fenders--was extensive.
Passenger side outside led taillight/brake light is now flashing, as if a rightturn signal were activated, but when no turn signal is activated. This is in addition to a prior reported defect where the same passenger side led taillight displays a light condition as if braking, when car is not actually braking. This safety defect is also observed on some 2008-2010 mkz and mercury milan vehicles in the past 18 months. The led lights are not owner replaceable; instead the entire taillight must be replaced at a cost to the owner of over $500. This confuses other drivers and then creates a safety hazard.
(1) driver rear circuitboard lights are not illuminated, the first row,and second row..400 to 500.00 repair because of defective lighting..(2) driver side front window are no longer automatic up or down..have to keep the power window button depressed, for operation of this window..started with these problems almost simultaneously 4/5 months or so ago..

The radio blew out, after lincolninstalled the an airbag that was recalled. It's sounded like a body drop on the vehicle also the airbag light came back on.
Mkz right side outer led taillight assembly is displaying all three bands of led's at all times, instead of only when braking. The correct display without braking is only the center led band. Also, at random times, the three led bands flash as if a turn signal is activated, when it is not.these conditions cause other drivers to not understand whether the car might be braking or turning, when it is only proceeding straight ahead.this is an integrated led taillight assembly that has no replaceable bulbs. The entire assembly must be replaced by a dealer at a cost of $500.00bulbs cannot be replaced by an owner, even in an emergency.the left side (driver side) outer led assembly operates correctly, with the center band of led's operative and three bands lighting only when braking. This adds to the confusion of other drivers following the vehicle.ford motor and lincoln division refuse to acknowledge a problem, and state that unless it is within a warranty period, no replacement will be made to correct the problem. It has been reported to lincoln motor division for the past 18 months and the problem continues to date.
Driving at 35 mph, tried to slow down for a stop light. Car would not slow, brakes were ineffective againstthe motor that was stuck accelerating. I put car in nuetral ( as car engine raced) and coasted into a business parking lot. I shut off car and restarted. Engine revs were normal. I put car back into drive and drove back to work, the rpm's were surging, but not out of control this time.
Excessive heating of heated/cooled front seats at approx. 40,000 miles. Temperature too high to touch. At 50,600 miles, dcsm module under the driver seat and associated pigtail wiring burned up, melting connector and wiring. Dealer evaluated prior over heating of both driver and passenger seats as normal at approx. 40,000 miles.

I was informed by friends following our vehicle that the driver side red brake light will illuminate with no change in brake pedal feel at nite when all the car lights are turned on.this i believe is a safety issue since drivers following our vehicle will not be awarewhen the vehicle itself is braking.contacted a ford dealer who informed us that the cost to correct this problem would be $534.00 (the whole tail light assembly needs to be replaced and is not covered under the extended warranty.i researched whether this was a recurring problem with ford vehicles and found that a technical service bulletin dated 11-11-10 was issued and nhtsa # 10042506 applied.

Right side brake light has failed.
Driver side brake lightsled lights are out already the cost 500.00for 500.00 it should at least work for 10 years.
Passenger side headlight low beam goes off with no indication does not matter whether stopped or moving. The only way to get it back on is turn lights off and turn back on but it does it repeatedly per trip. Does not make a difference if the car is moving or not.took to dealer approx. Three times but could not find reason for problem.dealer suggested to replace entire headlight component at a cost of approximate $3000.first the cost is extremely high, second i don't understand why there is no answer to why this is happening.
At 56,000 miles (just over warranty) a friend noticed that my drivers side brake light was not working.i have no idea how long this condition existed.brake lights are a safety item and i note there are other complaints on this site regarding the early failure of these led lights.ford would not warranty this and with a replacement cost of over $500.00, there is a real danger that some people may delay, or elect to not replace the light.the importance of functioning brake lights can not be overstated.i also have concerns about the luminosity of these lights.i'm not at all sure that they meet federally mandated standards and this should be looked at.

The parking brake on my lincoln mkz will not hold the vehicle on a slope. The dealer and ford motor company say that there is nothing that cane be done about it. According to them, the brake is designed to function when the transmission is in park. That does not comply with the federal regulations for parking brakes which are quite clear. They state that every combination of motor vehicles must be equipped with a parking brake system adequate to hold the vehicle or combination on any grade on which it is operated, under any condition of loading in which it is found on a public road (free of ice and snow). There is no mention of the transmission or park in that description. The vehicle is quite dangerous. Property and people will be damaged and hurt. The same braking system is used on the ford edge. ...updated 11/07/12

When they most often failed was after hitting a pot hole or small bump in the road approaching a situation to stop with the foot on the brake pedal.the abs system would kick in and the brake pedal would go to the floor losing pressure and braking. I have had several near miss accidents and have blown stop signs and red lights because of this issue. Had it in the shop several times to have it checked out. What i had replaced was the hydraulic control assemby for the abs system. A valve was sticking in the module that caused this to happen. I have kept the part. I have tried to contact ford to no avail.
After braking in an emergency situation the brake pedal hasexcessive travel which is exactly as described in safety recall 19v904000.i checked the vin and this vehicle is not listed as being included in the recall but it definitely has the problem.i spoke with ford and unless the recall includes this vin they will not repair as a recall, but rather at my expense.i was travelling in the middle lane of a 3 lane highway going approximately 60 miles per hour and the vehicles in front of me braked hardcausing me to brake hard as well. It was a rainy morning and the abs activated and i felt the brake pedal soften and go down about another inch where it still provided braking but i can feel that it is lower than before and there is a point at which i can feel the brakes but still need to depress further to achieve good stopping.this is the third time that this happened. Previous times the brakes seemed ok the next day. This time i can still feel that there is something very different.
One evening i got into my car and was heading home from work when i used the brakes and they went all the way to the floor. I had no brakes. The part i replaced was the hydraulic brake control unit. It cost me almost 700.00 to repair. I have the proper paperwork if you need to see the repair order. Pretty ironic that the recall will be coming out but they say my car wasn't affected. I could have been in a severe accident. I am looking for reimbursement on the money i spent. Lincoln has done a great job with all other issue that have come up.thank you for your time and i'm sure you will do the right thing and stand behind your product.

Brakes lose pressure and go to the floor, as described in recall 19s54, but this car is not covered under the recall and the ford dealer is charging $2000 to repair it.
After hitting brakes hard on wet surface the abs activated.from that point on the brakes would depress to the floor.tried to pump up, but the brake pedal would still drop to floor board.at one point the car was pulled over since the brakes no longer worked.had master cyl replaced, lines drained.pedal still seems soft.i've had 3 different mechanics work on the brakes and all 3 did something different.probably should have taken to the dealer.
There is a recall from the lincoln ford company for brakes which has been ongoing since 2019. They keep delaying the implementation of the part saying they are still in the testing phase. They are not giving owners the option for courtesy leases.

In a stopping situation today i heard a loud pop and then lost all brake pressure. I took the vehicle to a local repair shop and they found a rubber flex hose right off the master cylinder had blown out. This is in an area that is not very easy to get to nor is it near the bottom where salt and road debris can get to. My vehicle is out of warranty by 2,391 miles. I called the ford lincoln mercury hotline and they said i was out of warranty and there was no recalls on this situation. I could have been in a bad accident or hit a child it was very scary. This should be investigated due to the nature of losing brakes is not safe. Hopefully this does not happen to anyone where there is an injury. This should be checked for a possible recall. Thank you in advance.
While backing into a parking spot, the car's rear sensors sounded. Since i thought there was still 3 or 4 feet of space to a chain link fence behind the car, i got out to investigate. There was room, so i got back into the car & continued to back up slowly while looking out the open driver door.when i applied the brake, the car would not stop.i applied the brakes a few more times, but still couldn't get the car to stop.i believe i moved my right foot more to the left & tried to stop again. When that didn't stop the car, in desperation i moved my foot to the right, pressing firmly once or twice.at that point, my foot either slipped off the brake pedal on to the gas pedal or even possibly hit the gas pedal directly.the car lurchedbackward, knocking the fence down & damaging the driver door.my wife & i were in the car,but suffered no injury.no other people or vehicles were involved at all.the car was repaired at riverhead ford in riverhead, ny & the claim has been paid by allstate.my wife & i had experienced no brake problem prior to 6/24/10, & riverhead ford found no brake problem when the car was repaired.my concern is that there might be a sporadic abnormality caused by the brakes or transmission or computer, & possibly other vehicles have been reported with a similar problem.

We purchased a 2010 lincoln mkz last year for my wife. As soon as i drove it off the lot i realized there was a drift to the right. We do not drive the car often and we decided to let it go until the first recommended checkup. It was checked and the alignment was found to be in specs as per ford. There was also a letter to the dealers stating that the drift was a "characteristic" of other front wheel drive ford products and there is "no problem" with the vehicle! i have contacted ford ever since the service and they will do nothing to repair it. If i look away and don't realize i have eased the pressure of holding the wheel, the car changes lanes to the right at any given time. Never to the left with "road crown in the road, crosswinds" or whatever as described in the letter from ford. As of yesterday's phone call, the customer representative said there is nothing that ford will do to correct this problem since it is a "characteristic" of the vehicle!!!! as per their notice, this is characteristic of not only the mkz model but also the 2006 zephyr, 2006-2010 fusion/milan, and the 2007-2010 mkz as well. I do wish you can investigate them and correct this safety problem since my wife and i plan on doing a lot of traveling this summer with the car and i'm actually afraid to drive it on trips.
I was parked almost perpendicular to the curb (that was the way the parking spots were set.) i put the car into reverse and was about to back out when i saw a car in my rear view.i quickly shifted into drive and put my foot on the brake.the car suddenly accelerated forward about a foot or more before striking a lamp post. There was extensive damage to the right front headlight as well as the bumper, grill and hood. The airbags did not deploy and there was no injury to the other 2-passengers. This was not the first time this phenomenon has happened.the sudden surge has occurred at least twice before.both times when i was on a hill and put my foot on the brake to keep the car from rolling back.
