Door ajar (driver's side) indicator illuminates when door is closed. Multiple occurrences of this issue are documented on internet. When this occurs the following systems are affected:* door locks - cannot be locked from driver or passenger automatic door lock button. When attempted all door locks automatically unlock again. Auto locking safety feature is effectively disabled. Work around is to manually lock all doors.* interior lighting - dome lights (interior lighting) will not turn off until vehicle is moving at 10 mph or faster when door ajar issue occurs. Visibility while maneuvering at low speeds at night is impaired and increases potential for accidents in areas such as parking lots. No known workaround. Additionally, when remotely locking car, marker lights and interior lights remain on, unknown if excessive battery drain may occur.* security system - keyless (touch) locking of automobile does not work when this issue occurs. Using remote lock activates the alarm system. This causes random false alarm activations. Security system cannot be used effectively. Work around is to keep car unlocked.due to the number known systems affected by open or closed state of the car doors, it is possible that other systems including safety systems could be affected by intermittent door ajar sensor failure while the vehicle is in use.

Door ajar sensor has stopped working correctly. It works intermittently. When it does not work the door does not lock automatically and when electric door lock are activated, the door unlocks.
The driver side door ajar sensor is malfunctioning ausing the lights to remain on while driving. This problem has progressively gotten worse to the point the interior lights stay on all the time which is a driving hazard at night. This is a common problem with the mkx as it is all over the internet. Ford has a bulletin out however will not cover cost of replacement.
Door latch sticks and vehicle won't sense that the door is closed.clearly an issue for ford based on an internet search yet nothing is being done to help.daughter at school can't get interior lights to go off and can't lock door because the car thinks door is open.
Electrical short in throttle body. The vehicle would stop at anytime while driving. Pulled off street and re-started. Incident happened four times.....updated 07/23/15
The door ajar sensor is malfunctioning ausing the lights to remain on while driving. This problem has progressively gotten worse to the point the interior lights stay on all the time which is a driving hazard at night. This is a common problem with the ford edge and mkx as it is all over the internet. Ford has a bulletin out however will not cover cost of replacement.
Door drivers side ajar latch issue:even when the door is closed the vehicle still says the door is ajar.this has been fixed four times since i have had the car.
The problem was diagnosed as a failed throttle body, with trouble codes p2111present in the on-board computer system, indicating the electronic throttle actuator control system was stuck open and closed, respectively.
Lift gate will open without prompting. Have parked the vehicle and went inside and come back outside and liftgate will be open.at other times it will not open or close when i push the button on the dash or the rear cargo button or key fob button. Camera goes fuzzy or blacks out.
Door ajar sensors are failing and not allowing me to lock.
While driving 40 mph, my vehicle stalled out, power went out, lights, power steering and brakes.i had to pull to the side of the road and put my vehicle in park to restart it.i was driving in a busy area at night, no headlights, very difficult to control, my car was slowing down due to no power.
My passenger door agar sensor does not work properly. Even if my door is closed, it remains on and i can spend hours opening and closing my door for it to remain on. I cannot lock the car when unoccupied since my alarm will go off within an hour trying to alert me that my door is open, even though it is not. While driving, my doors do not lock and my lights remain on.. My child could open her door in the back seat while i am driving down the road because of their failure to lock. I also cannot see at all at nights with the interior lights on. They do not go off until i reach a certain speed, because of the sensor saying my door is agar.
Two of the doors show an unlocked alarm, even though the doors are fully closed.this prevents the doors from being locked, and the lights to remain on.i cannot set the car's alarm as it will set itself off.

Passenger door switch defected stays on at the dash can not lock doors when driving and over head lights stay on till i reach a certain speed as well as when i lock doors the alarm goes off for no reason due to it picks up that the driver door is a jar this is a big safety issue as and when you investigate this you will see for yourself this is all happening when the car is parked as well as in motion
The contact owns a 2011 lincoln mkx. The contact stated that the vehicle sync program was defective. The contact mentioned that once the failure occurred the navigation system, temperature gauges and rearview camera would sporadically fail or activate without warnings. In addition, the contact stated that the system would not recognize the key fob and the vehicle would not turn start. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the sync program was defective but they were unable to come up with a feasible remedy. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 15 and the current mileage was 2,000.updated 9/27/11 the low pressure oil light illuminated and the sync system locked up. The consumer stated the problem happened sporadically. Updated 10/07/11
Driver side door ajar sensor comes on frequently. Interior light stays on when this happens, making it difficult to drive at night. Sometimes it causes the alarm to go off during the night, which is aggrivating. Such a nice car but this is an embarrassing problem. I just bought this car used but the owner said she has had this problem several times before.
Door ajar light stays on. The doors don't lock, dome light stays on, and the alarm goes off multiple times during the night. These things all cause multiple problems. At night with the dome light on it is distracting and lowers visibility. My battery has ran down multiple times.
Door ajar sensors are failing and not allowing me to lockthe vehicle
Problems with the electronic throttle body (etb). When driving, there is an extreme, sudden and dangerous loss of power. At the same time, ford's infamous "wrench warning light' for this problem comes on and the car enters into the 'limp home mode'. This is the same problem that ford / lincoln is having in which the nhtsa had opened an investigation in feb. 2013 after thousands of ford / lincoln owners complained of the same issue i am currently having, then closed it after ford agreed to 'fix 1,600,000 cars that "limped home"'. My research shows that ford claims that customer satisfaction program 16b23 has been issued. However, when i contacted lincoln hq, they stated that since nhtsa has closed this investigation, they are not willing to include my vin with this reported problem. This problem is getting worse as well. It has happened 5 times now and every time, i have to pull off to the side of the road and shut the vehicle off. I called the lincoln dealership where the vehicle was purchased and the service manager was well aware of the problem and stated that he fixes these 'all the time' at $160.00 for the part, and $400.00 for the labor.please reopen the nhtsa investigation/ case to include my vin in this 'recall' or whatever ford wants to call it.
The contact owns a 2011 lincoln mkx. The contact stated the vehicle was experiencing multiple failures. The first failure was both the heat and air-conditioning unit activated at the same time, despite both units being turned off. The second failure wasinaccurate readings from the electrical meters and gauges along the instrument panel. The final failure was while traveling at low speeds the vehicle failed to accelerate properly. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the manufacturer was contacted, but the vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was 535 and the current mileage was 800.
The drivers door ajar warning is activated even tho the door is fully closed.i cannot lock the doors while driving because the sensor thinks the door is ajar.even when i try to lock the doors, the vehicle automatically unlocks all doors as soon as the car is in motion.
Faulty sunroof track assembly, unable to open or closebackup rear camera stopped working, stationary (prior to backing up, once put in reverse)
The contact owns a 2011 lincoln mkx. The contact stated that when activating the turn signals, the radio volume would independently increase.in addition, the contact stated that when the turn signals were activated they would not operate and once they became operable, they would not disengage. The contact stated that the failures occurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician replaced a module and provided updates. The contact was not able to specify the exact repairs however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was not further repaired. The vin was unavailable. The approximate failure mileage was 500.
Radio and ac settings change every time the car is restarted.can not make a call using the voice command system.call will not route through the car's speakers.stereo will not come back on after a call.stereo freezes up and shows that it is on sirius, but is really on an fm station.stereo stays on when the car is turned off and door is opened.sync screen blanks out and stays off.performs "system maintenance" frequently.says that the navigation card is faulty.back up camera does not come on, but system says it is functioning.has been taken to the dealership twice for repairs.they have performed a reset both times which temporarily restores function.was told that nothing further could be done unless lincoln came out with an update.
I keep get the check fuel fill inlet system error on my vehicle. I've had it fixed but the light comes right back on. My car jerks as i am driving and sometimes stalls.
2011 lincoln mkx electrical system software recall lincoln issued a recall (10v659000) nhtsa campaign #11v128000 which required replacement of affected bcms may have the potential for an internal short. If an electrical short develops, an overheating condition may occur which could result in a vehicle fire.our lincoln started to develop issues only a few weeks after purchase. The turn signal would repeatedly burn out. The dealership we purchased from replaced the bulb & housing several times with no permanent fix. After some research we found the recall notice & called lincoln directly. As it turns our the car (vin number & all fit the criteria for the recall per ford) however lincoln refuses to fix the affected module because the car is originally from canada! we live 1 hour away form canada, so iam sure we are not the first to buy a car in the us that originated in canada. At this point we do not even feel safe driving the vehicle for fear it will catch fire. The signal & running lights burn out every 2-3 weeks. Very scary! we cannot in good faith trade the car in either with knowledge of this information. The mechanics that have looked at the vehicle stated that there is evidence of an actual fire around the turn signal housing.
Door ajar warning on the driver's door keeps the vehicle from locking while driving - and also does not want to lock after the vehicle has been shut off and is staionary; i had this fixed a year ago in 2017 at gene messer ford here in amarillo and now the problem is back; please advise asap.
When driving down the highway, the sync screen goes completely blank. At this point i have no access to heat, a/c, defroster, radio, or backup camera.on occasion the screen has been blank for up to one hundred miles.i don't worry about the defroster in the summer but in the winter this is a definite safety concern.not having the backup camera is risky for there may be small children behind the vehicle.i've been in contact with ford motor company.they tell me there engineering department is working on a fix but there is no eta nor do they have any idea when of if they can fix it. The consumer wanted to include the file number assigned to her by ford motor company. Complaint # 441951441
Smell of wires burning, seat burning skin, screen and other items not working.
Original screen was cracked-unit would not work - lincoln replaced unit.approximately 3 weeks ago after last update from ford, the unit was not working properly-couldn't use navigation because it wouldn't take addresses and other minor issues -we called and ford tried to reset it twice - didn't work.took car in to ford land-lakewood, co. They tested and again tried to reset - no luck - finally after having the car all day, they were authorized to replace unit again.got car back and within the same week, the unit started acting up again - blank screen, delayed time to come up, always said "performing scheduled system maintenance", most of time back-up screen would not come up until way after we had backed up and left; had trouble with addresses; on 11/2 after our last stop, system did not come up at all.took car to dealership 11/4 - have had it all day testing it-they don't know what is wrong with it-no call, no nothing, lincoln ford needs to get their act together and get an entirely new system or learn how to fix the old one.thinking about trading vehicle for toyota, lexus, buick or cadillac. Tired of the problem.not a safety issue per se but it is irritating. Note-this problem has been in the newspapers nationwide.i am surprised that they haven't gotten a better system.i know many other people must be having the same problem or, did we get a lemon.
2011 lincoln mkx- problem - intermittent "driver door ajar" warning shown on instrument cluster - causedome lights to illuminate, and repeated door closing attempts to end "door a jar" warning. Warning happens when stationary and / or in motion, resulting in an unplanned stop. If diving with "door ajar" warning, doors will not stay locked, questioning if doors are really closed.
My rear view camera works intermittently. Some times it just says call the dealer.
Signal appears all the time saying driver door ajar and now the panic alarm goes off on its own multiple times day and night. Key is in house when alarm goes off. Received recall notice, but i am over mileage by 9,000. Portsmouth ford in nh who i bought it from wont do the recall work.
Doors (driver side back door, passenger side back door) show door ajar warnings even when the doors are properly shut. This fault continues to run my battery down, and eventually forced me to purchase a new battery. I read similar complaints, and as a dedicated ford brand purchaser i am very upset this issue was not recalled and corrected. The fault activates upon starting my vehicle or while driving. The lights continually staying on causes the battery to drain and eventually die!!! this is not a fault caused by owner error, and i strongly believe ford should recall and replace the faulty door latch assemblies!
Vehicle registers door adjar constantly.causes dome lights to stay on even while driving, can't lock door, and battery goes dead.this is an issue! i saw there was an investigation but apparently nothing has been resolved.the problem started gradually and progressed to always. One time after the battery died i had a friend jump it and the cables started on fire! unsure if this is related but the 12volt plug in the dash stopped working and the heater ac hvac also went out previous to this. What a pain...
The problem was diagnosed as a failed throttle body, with trouble codes p2111present in the on-board computer system, indicating the electronic throttle actuator control system was stuck open and closed, respectively.
I was driving on a 35 miles/per hour zone without any warning i heard the car making clicking noise and completely shut down. I had someone checked it for me. My coolant was going into my engine. I got it towed to dealer the engine has to be replaced for almost $10,000.00. I had the car service 2 months ago at the dealer and i still over 3,000.00 miles until my next service.
While driving about 55 mph on the highway my car suddenly stopped.the engine was still on but i had no control except to coast to the side of the road. A sign that said awd failed appeared.i turned it off and restarted it and drove home.we took it to the ford garage. They had no idea what was wrong since there was no "code". We took it home after about a week.in less than a week my husband was driving home from work and the same thing happened to him.after the ford garage had it for about 3 weeks they called and said they were going to replace the throttle body.my husband said that is a design flaw and lincoln's problem.they didn't want to call so gave us the phone number and my husband called.their response was things fail in cars.my husband said cars shouldn't quit working while you are driving down the highway.next day lincoln rep said they would pay $250 toward the repair.we now have possession of the car but no idea if the problem is fixed or not as of yet. (not sure of exact dates. But it was in may and/or june of 2016)
While driving the vehicle and approaching a stop sign the vehicle just shut off on its own. I lost all engine power, brakes, and steering capabilities., etc with no warning. Luckily no other vehicles were near me at the time.i was able to roll backwards in neutral to a somewhat safe location off the road.several days after that it happened again. I was in a parking lot and had just started the vehicle and then it warned low oil pressure and then just shut off on its own.i checked the oil and it's not low. Oil level is perfect. After some quick online research i found many similar complaints from other lincoln owners.unexpected engine shut off while driving and with no warning.scary and very unsafe to say the least.i contacted the dealership where i bought the vehicle and they said this is the first time they heard of this issue. Please advise. Thank you.
The contact owns a 2011 lincoln mkx. While the contact's husband was driving approximately 70 mph, the check engine indicator suddenly illuminated and the speed reduced. The contact pulled the vehicle over and had it towed to a family member's trailer. The contact called gene mercer ford of amarillo (located at 3400 s soncy rd, amarillo, tx 79119, 806-355-7471) where the water pump was replaced. The dealer diagnosed that the engine failed and needed to be replaced. The engine was not replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 150,000.
My 2011 lincoln mkx suddenly shut off when driving off the expressway. The engine suddenly turned off, giving me a wrench tool on the dash board. Luckily had just gotten off the expressway and was able to move off the frontage into a store. I was able to turn it back on but turned off on me like 3 more times. When i took it in to my dealership right the next day they couldn't find out what was wrong with it. So i took i took it homethen started noticing that my truck felt like it was going to turn off suddenly. Took it to dealership again and they told me that it sound it like it was the throttle body, caused by a leak in oil. They changed it out and my truck works good now. Doesn't feel like its going to turn off all of a sudden.
Vehicle experienced sudden and complete engine stall at approximately 45 mph.lost power steering, brakes, and control of vehicle became extremely difficult.after bring vehicle to safe stop on shoulder, it restarted.
My 2011 lincoln mkx has a blown head gasket.one week prior to this diagnosis, my car was evaluated and diagnosed by the lincoln dealership because of an engine light being on.there were no symptoms--only the light was on when the car was on.i had the oil changed by the dealership at this time as well.the diagnosis stated that no problem could be found, but that the light may come back on, and i would need to bring it back for (and pay for) another diagnostic check.the next day, the light came back on, still with no symptoms other than the light being on.i wasn't able to get the lincoln to the dealership right away.exactly one week later, still with no symptoms other than the light being on, i drove the lincoln on a highway close to my home for 5 minutes and it began struggling like it was going to stall.immediately the light "low engine oil pressure" came on.then immediately the car stalled, and i coasted onto the shoulder of the road.there were no other symptoms other than the struggling engine immediately before stalling and the "low engine oil pressure light".i had it towed to the nearest 5-star rated auto repair place, and within a few hours, they called me and diagnosed the lincoln with a blown head gasket.the lead mechanic stated that this was determined by visual inspection of the oil as it had engine coolant mixed with oil.he called it the "classic milkshake look" that is apparent when there is a blown head gasket.
I keep get the check fuel fill inlet system error on my vehicle. I've had it fixed but the light comes right back on. My car jerks as i am driving and sometimes stalls.
The brake booster failed on my vehicle and was just replaced by the dealership for nearly $900 dollars. This is the 2nd major safety issue i have had with this vehicle because the throttle body had an issue that caused the vehicle to completely shut down while driving with no warning. That was replaced at no cost but i had to do my own research for the repair and that issue could have caused an accident with injuries or death. Because lincoln determined that my particular vin is not eligible then the cost is on me, again a major safety issue that could have caused injury and death when the brakes barely stopped. I know i cannot recover money for own repair but i feel ford/lincoln should not be able to get away with making their own determinations of what vehicles should be covered when they are at fault for building a poor. Substandard product. I do not want other owners to be railroaded by this policy.
Water pump failure filling motor with coolant$2500 repair with no guarantee the motor is not permanently damaged.has 112000 miles and just out of warranty.my wife was driving it when the suv started missing and she had to pull over stranded on the side of the road.
This is the first of three incidents with this vehicle. On this occasion i was traveling downhill approximately 35 mph, one block from my home and the engine stalled. I lost all power and coasted to a stop.the car did start back up and i resumed my travel. The car was immediately taken to the dealer and the problem was checked out. The car was returned to me the next day. They were not able to duplicate the problem or give any explanation.
Transmission issues. Shifts hard. Already spent 2500 to fix the transfer case. We've heard tons of people have this problem.
While driving shuts off without warning. Dark dashboard and no steering. Has happened twice, once on a city street and once on the interstate indry road conditions. After waiting a few minutes it restarts.
As i was going to pull out of a parallel parking spot, the car immediately stalled and lost all power while in drive. I placed the car in park and attempted to turn the car back on. The car turned back on then as i was about to leave the parking spot again it shut off immediately as i pressed the acceleration. This is very dangerous and left me out in the middle of the street with on coming traffic.
This is the second of 3 incidents with this vehicle. On this occasion i was accelerating onto the expressway. I was on the entrance ramp traveling 55 mph, when this vehicle lost all power for the second time in 6 months. I was able to maneuver to the right hand side of the ramp (with no power steering) and come to a stop. On this occasion i was close to being rear ended. The car did start back up and i returned home and contacted the lincoln dealership.the vehicle went in for servicing and again they could not find anything wrong with the vehicle. The mechanic suggested that i never allow my vehicle to get below 1/2 tank before filling with gas.
I was driving on the road all the sudden i heard a knock in the vehicle and burning smell without any warning the car has stopped in the middle of the road. I was able to get it to a safe place. I have it towed to the dealer the entire engine has to be replaced because the coolant was going to the engine which will cost nearly $10,000.00. I still owe over $18,000.00 and only have the car for a 1year. I can't get any help from the ford company or the dealer. I am a single parent that's in a true dilemma not knowing what to do. The dealer has done the service in the car 2 months prior to the engine failure. I kept the service everything it's due. I was doing all the right thing.
This is the third of three incidents with this vehicle. On this occasion i was traveling 70 mph in the fast lane of the expressway, when the engine failed for the third time in 1 year.on this occasion the wrench symbol came on the dashboard. According the vehicle's manual this is an indication of a powertrain problem.this was the closest that i came to having an accident. There was only about 1000 feet to the left on the fast lane to stop the vehicle without hitting the guard rail. The vehicle has been at the dealership for 5 days. We were called the day after we dropped the car off for servicing. Again they said they could not duplicate the problem and wanted to return the vehicle to us without resolving the problem. I informed lincoln that i would not take the car back until it was safe to drive. We are currently working with lincoln to see what can be done.
Even with meticulous maintenance my mkx engine catastrophically failed. The dealership said the oil and water mixed and it was in no way caused by us.they are wanting me to pay $7000.00 to replace the engine.we followed manufacturers recommendations for service and preventive maintenance. I believe lincoln should cover this as this was no fault of us as the owners.we are the original owners and purchased it brand new. My wife was driving to bend, or from prineville, or on the highway and the vehicle lost power and then died.she was stranded on the roadside with no cell service.
The throttle valve assembly was bad. The car stopped running when the wife was driving highway 105 at 50 mph. She turned on the flashers and was able to get off to the side of the highway after a short time the car was able to be restarted and driven back to the house. The same thing happened again about two months later. This is a very dangerous situation. The engine stops with no warning.
The contact owns a 2011 lincoln mkx. The contact stated that while driving approximately 70 mph, the engine stalled without warning. The vehicle then coasted to the side of the road. In addition, the gps navigation system failed to operate correctly. The engine restarted and the contact was able to resume as normal. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer, where the computer control module was updated. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 11,000.
The contact owns a 2011 lincoln mkx. While parking the vehicle, the low coolant level warning light illuminated and the vehicle started to smoke. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who stated that the module, which controlled the cooling system, failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 48,000.
The sirius travel link (thru mylincoln touch) does not work and has not worked from day 1 of picking up the suv on 9/27/10.at first lincoln would not admit any issues but now they finally do but do not say when a fix will be available.i should have been told that option was not working before they had me sign a lease for the car.alot of us are paying for something that does not work and do not know if it ever will.
Two of the doors show an unlocked alarm, even though the doors are fully closed.this prevents the doors from being locked, and the lights to remain on.i cannot set the car's alarm as it will set itself off.

Warning happens when stationary and / or in motion, resulting in an unplanned stop. If diving with "door ajar" warning, doors will not stay locked, questioning if doors are really closed.
Left headlamp stopped working.replaced headlamp and it will still not illuminate.dealer said it was an electrical wiring issue into the ballast.cost to repair is $2,200.00.lincoln concierge refused to assist.this is a safety issue because the oncoming drivers perceive the right headlight as being the left headlight in the dark causing them to veer into our lane.thisis obviously a design flaw that has a serious safety concern.
Door ajar light stays on. The doors don't lock, dome light stays on, and the alarm goes off multiple times during the night. These things all cause multiple problems. At night with the dome light on it is distracting and lowers visibility. My battery has ran down multiple times.

The contact owns a 2011 lincoln mkx. The contact stated that he began to smell a strong odor of gasoline while driving and the vehicle was immediately towed to the dealer. The tow company detected a leak in the engine. The contact stated that the failure mostly occurred when the engine was hot. The contact was awaiting diagnosis of the failure. The failure and current mileage was 2,900. Updated 5/9/11 the dealer replaced a leaking fuel line. Updated 05/23/11
On a clear day with a temperature of about 65 degrees, had been driving car approximately 25 minutes between 45 to 55 miles per hour, wiht last at least 10 minutes at 55. After turning onto divided highway and driving 55 miles per hour for about 7 minutes, with no warning car stopped responding to accelerator. Had to coast onto shoulder. Kept trying to get accelerator to respond.tried no foot on accelerator, lightly pressing accelerator and completely depressing accelerator and everything in betweenfinally was able to get car to drive at approximately 20 miles per hour, then car ceased responding to accelerator and stalled. Restarted car and could drive at approximately 1/2 mile per hour even when flooring and or fluttering accelerator. Tried to restart car numerous times and it would start, then immediately stall out. Car then car completely ceased responding to accelerator. Had to have towed and am awaiting response from technician. I initially thought the cause may be a fuel pump, but after reading complaints from ford edge customers suspect it may be a throttle body issue. Will wait to hear from technician. This was a very dangerous situation dropping from 55 to 0 within less than a minute.
On i35, driving 70, vehicle suddenly lost acceleration completely and we were able to coast to shoulder, car still running. Warning light low oil pressure came on as well as sydtem trans alert. When put in gear would go 10 yards, would quit.
I keep get the check fuel fill inlet system error on my vehicle. I've had it fixed but the light comes right back on. My car jerks as i am driving and sometimes stalls.
The contact owns a 2011 lincoln mkx. The contact stated that the driverā€™s side front door latch was faulty which caused the door ajar warning light to illuminate while the door was properly closed. The alarm system would also activate intermittently due to the door ajar warning light being illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was out of warranty coverage. The contact was referred to the nhtsa for assistance. The failure mileage was 124,799.

My backup camera has stopped working and turned black just like other lincoln models that are being recalled and i believe my car should be included in the recal... Also my transmission leaks fluid just like other lincoln's that are being recalled for the same issue, i feel like mine should also be included in that recall as well
Shift indicator for park does not light up not allowing to turn car off. Have to wiggle to get it to park
Have owned this 2011 lincoln mkx awd approximately one year. During that time i recall about 4 times during this period, when going from a coasting down the hill mode on surface streets, to placing foot gently on gas pedal as leveling out and or starting upa slightincline, a loud, jerking slam has been heard and felt. Enough each time that i thought i had been rammed from behind by another car only to find there was no car behind me. The car would then continue on as if nothing had happened. The most recent time i encountered the "slam" was the evening of wednedday 4/24/19. This was the same situation as previously noted, when going from a coasting mode to driving with foot lightly on accelerator, a loud slamming noise was heard and felt. Last friday, 4/26/2019 when driving on a 35 mph zone, it sounded as if something had gotten stuck under the car, sounding like a dragging branch, or a dragging brake caliper. We checked under the car and looked at brakes. Backed car up and heard a faint metal sound, then drove forward and heard the dragging sound again. Rather than risk driving the car further, had it towed to the dealership where it was diagnosed with a a problem with the power take off/transfer case.it will have to be repaired/replaced as a high cost.
I was driving about 55 to 60 mph, just off highway, while my mkx all of sudden lost all power. The vehicle was still moving, however, stepped on the gas pedal, the car was not gaining any speed. I managed to pull over immediately to avoid rear-ended and shut off the engine. After a few minutes, tried to start the vehicle, it sounded nosier than usual but it seems worked fine. The weather condition is nice and shiny. I was on the road for about 1.5 hours, rush hour with about 30 min bumper to bumper. My mkx is a 2011 model with 51000 miles.i googled this issue and found out "ford motor company (ford) is recalling certain model year 2012-2014 ford edge and lincoln mkx vehicles manufactured september 2, 2010, to november 30, 2013. The ford recall number is 14s10" for the same problem i was experienced. Why mkx 2011 model is not included.
Ptu failure on a vehicle that already had service on the same part. Loud grinding, drag, intermittent noise that peaked in the beginning around 35-40mph, eventually grinding at low speed, loud banging noise. Sounds like a fan blade clattering around as it spins. This problem should be covered under recall and is very dangerous. Vehicle is out of warranty.
The problem was diagnosed as a failed throttle body, with trouble codes p2111present in the on-board computer system, indicating the electronic throttle actuator control system was stuck open and closed, respectively.
Drivers seatbelt doesn't recoil to driver after latching it.
After purchasinng my vehicle, i noticed a distinct hard object just under the seating surface. At first i thought it was a seat adjustment such as a lumbar support on the seat bottom, but that is not the case. I was, and still am, sitting directly on the motor controls for the seat.i contacted the dealer where i bought it twice about the problem and was told to take it to a dealer here in florida where i work. I took it to a lincoln dealer in west palm beach. The service rep. Felt the seat and immediately told me that there was a problem with the manufacturing of the seat. He asked me to leave the vehicle and they would fix the seat the following day by installing some additional padding. I took a rental car provided by them back to my apartment. I was contacted the following day by the same dealer rep. And was told that since there were no previous similar complaints that they could not make the repairs.i then contacted lincoln's customer care service team and was told that i would be contacted shortly by a customer care specialist, which i was the following day. I was told that this nonconformity was a part of the design of the seats and that he was closing the file.
When driving down a freeway the brake booster went out again after it had been replaced. When i tried to brake, the pedal went down to the floor without bringing the vehicle to a stop or even slowing it down. This nearly caused an accident. We called the dealership and they said since it had been replaced already it wasnt under warranty anymore.
The contact owns a 2011 lincoln mkx. The contact stated that while driving approximately 60 mph and decelerating, the vehicle vibrated excessively. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was informed that the rotors needed to be replaced.only the rear rotors were replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 17,000. The vin was unavailable.
Brake pedal goes to the floor with no stopping ability. Driving on city street.
Abs module dump value-my brakes can be very hard to stop and it's very uncomfortable.i'm concerned about my safety.i had new brakes and rotors put on all the way around and i'm still having issues.i have been informed that this is a common problem in the lincoln/ford.i have invested alot of money in this vehicle over time and it's becoming more and more frustrating that it continue to have issues.
The contact owns a 2011 lincoln mkx. The contact stated while driving 15 mph, the brake pedal was depressed but failed to respond until the brake pedal reached the floorboard. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to parks lincoln of gainesville (3333 n main st, gainesville, fl 32609) to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle remained at the dealer unrepaired. The contact stated that the failure occured three times. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 74,000. The vin was not available. ## vin failed ## lincoln mkx 2011 ##
Loud grading noise front passage wheel
The vehicle breaks keep going out. I just had to get the brake booster and another part fix that's connected with the brakes done in february and now in august the same thing is happening the vehicle will not stop own it's on unless you press the pedal all the way down and it still hard to stop. Driving the vehicle is very hard to do with the same problem happening.
A valve sticks in the hydraulic control unit of the anti lock brake system when it is activated when heavy braking that created a very soft brake pedal when braking because brake fluid is being diverted thru the abs system when it shouldn't be. I noticed there was a safety recall on ford, lincoln's up to a 2010 model. There needs to be a recall on my model vehicle also.
My brakes will go out for no reason. Also, my electrical system (dashboard) will freeze up for no apparent reason. I have taken it to the ford dealership numerous times, but i was told neither was a recall issue and they could not help me unless it happened when they could actually "see" it happen. Yes. They said that.
The brake booster was replaced on my 2011 lincoln mkxdue to a recall due to brake failure.it was replaced approximately 1,000 miles ago and now it has failed again and nearly caused a serious accident..this incident was on the 23rd of august 2019.this manufacturerused faulty brake boosters from the beginning.this car only has 53,578 current miles.this automobileis a danger not only to the owner but also to the general public if not corrected by the fordlincoln motor company.. History:lincoln mkx and ford edge vehicles are experiencing more serious problems than necessary.. I have been waiting patiently for another reply from the local dealership concerning this unsafe & major problem with my 2011 lincoln mkx. My wife & i were on our way home on the highwayapproaching a red light.when i pushed the brake pedal to stop the brake pedal went all the way to the floor and nearly caused a serious accident.i made it home and parked the vehicleunder the carport and it has not been driven since.i have .started it and rechecked it and the pedal still goes all the way to the floor... This car has been a lemon automobile as far as the brakes and brake booster are concerned.i feel that ford lincoln motor company should be responsible for this problem and should have the brake problem fixed on a permanent basis and not on a temporary basis!!!unsatisfiedcustomer/owner of my 2011 lincoln mkx. If this problem is not corrected by the ford lincoln company i will have no other alternative except to contact an attorney.
Tried to tap the brakes to take the cruise control off and it wouldn't disengage. Tapped harder and then stomped on the brake to release it and stop from hitting the car in front of me. After that, it was very hard to make the brakes work. Took it a ford dealer while it was still under warranty and they claimed they couldn't duplicate it. Finally took it to a lincoln dealer after the 50k mile warranty expired and they made me pay for a new brake booster. Now the car won't start everytime because it says the brake isn't depressed, but of course, it was!
Takata recal' my brakes make this hissing noise when i step on it and sometimes the car would not stop. The car would keep roller after a apply the brakes and sometimes the padal would not go all the way down so i have to use extra force trying to stop my vehicle. It dos it on turning on the high way or on a main street with a speed limit of thirty mills an hour. Im not driving my car right now because of that problem. I had my kid and wife in the vehicle with me when this happend and i was scared that i was gonna hit the other car so i had to swerve to the side of the high way to stop.
First of all, i have only had my car for one year.during this year my car is on its third time loosing its brakes. All times it has happened out of nowhere, and while i was driving and applying brakes to either stop or turn on a road. All three times i almost crashed.i know what i am about to say next, i shouldn't have done but i don'thave a spare car and needed to continue to drive it until i could afford to get it fixed. I would drive extremely slowly with my caution lights on and break way before i needed to stop.after driving it several weeks, it would slowly fix itself back to working. This past weekend i took my daughters to the mountains to see the autumn leaves changing.anyway, i can't imagine my daughters or myself surviving coming down the mountain and the breaks going out. Two days after being home, theygo out onmy while driving. I am so thankful and lucky that over the past year that no one has died fromthe brake failures, my family or someonefrom another family.all three times that my brakes went out it was while in motion. Highway, city and once turning. When it happened yesterday for the third time, i was applying brakes while pulling up to a stop sign and my brakes felt fine at first while i was applying pressure but then it was almost like it broke some sort of seal (or i had supper powers) and push straight to the floor. Very scary!i could feel something like rubber or parts kind of rubbing against each other, but no grinding of the actual brake pads. To sum all of the up, i am 50 years old and have only purchased cars that range around $5,000.i thought i deserved a nicer and safer car for once in my life.this car is the most dangerous car i have every bought andi would rather have a car without all the extras to have one that would get me to a location safely without putting my life or the life of someone else in danger.
The contact owns a 2011 lincoln mkx. While driving approximately 10 mph over a pothole, the brakes failed to operate as intended. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure recurred several times. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 50,000. The vin was not available.
The contact owns a 2011 lincoln mkx. The contact stated that while driving at 15 mph, the brake pedal was depressed however, the vehicle failed to stop as designed. The contact stated that the braking distance was extended. The contact stated that the failure occurred after replacing the brake pads and rotors. The vehicle was diagnosed by an independent mechanic and the contact was informed that the failure maybe caused by a brake booster or the abs system malfunctioning. The vehicle was not repaired. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer were notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 137,000.
Power boost on brakes fails intermittently.when the power boost goes out, the car either fails to stop, or if already stopped, then jumps forward until the driver stomps the brake to the floor to stop.it's extremely dangerous.
The brake booster on my vehicle went out and it caused several near miss accidents where i felt like i wasn't going to be able to stop in time before we realized what was wrong.an extended warranty is not sufficient - needs to be recalled. I paid $900 to have this repair made because i was never notified of an extended warranty.
The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to apple ford lincoln of york (1801 whiteford rd, york, pa 17402) and the mechanic informed the contact that the hydraulic control unit needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 157,954. Consumer also stated she was having issues with her brakes which at times went all the way down the floor.
Vehicle has less that 50k miles and rarely driven.three different instances of the brakes failing with the pedal being pushed going all the way to the floor was diagnosed to be an issue with a recall for the brake booster (recalll 13n02).symptoms of "spongy brakes" always present. Other brake components were checked and verified to be operational.dealer indicated this is not a safety issue and will not be fixed because the extended warranty had expired.yet i have a dangerous vehicle that i am expected to pay for a manufacturing defect.

The contact owns a 2011 lincoln mkx. The contact stated that at start-up of the vehicle, the brake pedal would intermittently depress to the floorboard without warning. Additionally, there was an abnormal high-pitched sound coming from the brake booster. The contact had initially taken the vehicle to the dealer where he was informed that no fault had been found with his brakes upon inspection. As the intermittent failure persisted, the contact then took the vehicle to an independent mechanic where he was informed that the vehicle was placed under recall for the brake booster. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where he was informed that the vehicle no longer qualified for the 10 years/100,000-mile recall repair. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure and referred him to the nhtsa for assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 63,000.
I was driving my car and a car pulled in front of me i pressed a little harderon the brakes and after that the brakes went to the floor. I brought to my mechanic and he said that the seal on hydraulic brake was broken
I'm experiencing some linkage of fluid from underneath my car that has to do with my front end and i have taken it to the dealership and they can't fix it but it needs to be replaced and the cost is way to much. Please help! and there is no given reason why!

Roof hatch and windows open with nobody in car.heater goes to full heat upon starting vehicle.relates to technical bulletin issued regarding leakage inassembly but we have been advised correction is not covered by warranty even though service bulletin states it should be covered under warranty.can you help us correct this deficiency?thank you for your prompt response to this issue.
The door ajar light stays on for the drivers side door even when all doors are closed. This problem is a safety issue because it doesn't allow me to lock my doors while driving. Nor can i access my keyless entry or door lock. This seems to be a common problem and gross negligence. This is a potential law suit and victim of a crime.
Faulty sunroof track assembly, unable to open or closebackup rear camera stopped working, stationary (prior to backing up, once put in reverse)
This vehicle has been producing a strong exhaust/burning/sulfur smell in the cabin while using the climate control system/recirculator. There is a technical service bulletin out for this exact problem that states under certain conditions exhaust fumes can be pulled back into the cabin when using the climate controls.i took the vehicle to the dealership and paid $105.00 for them to tell me exactly what i already know. I would like to know what they did to pinpoint this specific problem.they told me tsb is not paid for by ford. They quoted me $500-600 to fix the problem following the tsb.my wife and kids are in this vehicle 95% of the time and have complained to me about the nauseating smell.not to mention exhaust fumes contain carbon monoxide!the dealership said the rear bumper needs to be pulled off and numerous areas of the body sealed where fumes are getting in. Why this isn't a full recall from ford is beyond me. Exhaust fumes entering the cabin making people feel sick and ford knows about this issue should be a full recall in my opinion.or at least cover this repair for the people that have this problem. Not sure what my next step will be, but i can't spend $500-$600 right now.i hope nhtsa researches this problem if they haven't already.
Door ajar will not turn off even when the door is closed.it keeps all the dome lights on and the car will not lock while in motion, therefore causing a fall out hazard while the vehicle is in motion.while in park, the dome lights remain on for a significant amount of time causing battery drainage and doors do not lock.they unlock themselves creating a safety issue.
Lift gate will open without prompting. Have parked the vehicle and went inside and come back outside and liftgate will be open.at other times it will not open or close when i push the button on the dash or the rear cargo button or key fob button. Camera goes fuzzy or blacks out.
When the temperature drops the liftgate will not stay up and will close completely on a person or items in its way. This is while vehicle is stationary and try to load items in the back area. This has happened on more than one occasion.
Drivers door shows open when closed. Cant lock the doors and battery drains. Happens when closing at stop on when moving.
Door ajar warning - i have had to replace both my driver's door latch and the left rear door latch in the past 4 months. When the left rear door ajar warning light came on interior lights would stay on or the security alarm would go off at random times of the day or night. I replaced the door latch problem solved. Then the door ajar warning for the drivers door started coming on earlier the month at random times. When driver side door ajar warning light comes on, the door locks do not work. I can try to lock them and they will lock and then 2 seconds later they unlock. This is a big safety issue as well as a security issue. I knew the fix was to replace the door latch which i did. The problem for now has gone away. I cannot afford to keep replacing door latches on this vehicle. I called lincoln / ford and complained to them about it and they said that it is nothing they could do about it.
The 8 inch touch screen has gone blank.can not access phone, audio, temp. Or navigation screens. This occured upon starting vehicle.
The rear camera works intermittently.at times the view is upside down or right side up or black.
Door ajar sensor stays on even though doors are closed. Doors does not lock and lights stays on draining the battery.
The abs hydraulic unit module has gone out in my vehicle.the module controls the abs breaking system.as of today 10/18/17, the abs breaks are not working on my vehicle.i took the vehicle to the dealership and they said it would $1,000 to replace the module.lincoln will not stand behind the safety of their customers or their vehicles and fix this safety problem.recalls on this same module have been done on the ford edge, which is the same vehicle.however, lincoln says that recall was vin specific and does not apply to the mkx.this is a major safety issue that needs to be addressed by the nhtsa.
Navigation no longer working- they are requiring me to purchase new sd mapping system. This should be illegal- how can they make me spend more money on a new mapping system when the navigation is working? it's a way to make me spend unnecessary money. I do not mind having outdated maps. Also the backup camera is no longer working, it is not that old of a vehicle. I have older iphones with camera's working.
Touch screen not working
The sunroof of my 2011 lincoln mkx , exploded while i was driving on the 401 in canada. (i am us citizen). A portion of the roof must have blown off onto cars behind me. The sound was similar to that of a gun being fired at close range. It was a friday, mid-afternoon, and the start of a 3-day holiday, the freeway was bumper to bumper. Shattered glass rained in on myself, my 14 year old son and his friend. I maneuvered to the side of the freeway.at this point, we cleaned as much glass off from ourselves and out of the car as we could. I am so thankful, that the shade happened to be closed, i can't imagine the glass that would have fellen on us if it hadn't of been. We careful cleaned glass off from the shade however, there was a small rim of the glass still attached. With flashers on,i slowly managed to drive the car off an exit, while the sunroof shade continued to tear, fragments of glass continued to fall on us. Since i was in a foreign country, i did not have cell service, this is why the decision was made to drive the vehicle and not call a tow truck. I feel that we were very fortunate that we happened to be fairly close to a ford dealership, 5-10 miles. At this time, the dealership is still assessing the damage. I have had to rent a vehicle and will be making arrangements to travel back to canada in a weeks time to hopefully, reclaim my vehicle.the insurance claim has not been made yet due to the unknown amount of damage at this time however, my insurance agent is aware of the incident. After researching, it is my understanding that ford had had a class action suit filled against them due to similar incidents. I will be contacting lincoln once i return back to the states.photos, insurance claims, rental forms and cost of repairs will be uploaded at a later date.
Faulty sunroof track assembly, unable to open or closebackup rear camera stopped working, stationary (prior to backing up, once put in reverse)
My backup camera has stopped working and turned black just like other lincoln models that are being recalled and i believe my car should be included in the recal... Also my transmission leaks fluid just like other lincoln's that are being recalled for the same issue, i feel like mine should also be included in that recall as well
Passenger door ajar alert comes on randomly, even when the passenger door hasn't been opened or shut in days. It has happened when the vehicle is stationary and when it is in motion.

The contact stated that while stopped, the vehicle momentarily surged forward before stopping on its own. Approximately ten days later, the driver was attempting to park and the vehicle surged forward until it crashed into a bus shelter. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer and they were unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was also made aware of the failure and offered no assistance. The failure mileage was unknown.
Unintended accelerator first happened approximately 18 months ago.i took my vehicle to a ford dealer to have a brake recall done and told them that i went to stop at a red light and something made the accelerator stick forcing me to jump a curb and run at a high speed through an empty lot in front of our library and then back over another curb and out onto another road.i put both feet on the brake and kept pushing; it finally stopped.the service department told me they did a diagnostic test on the car and they could not find nothing wrong with it.on july 18, 2016 i was pulling into a parking spot and as i took my foot off the accelerator to brake again my vehicle accelerated by itself forcing the car to jump the curb and plow into a 4-foot hedge.the car stopped on top of the hedges.i am attaching a picture.had the car not been stopped by the hedge ' there was an eight lane road in front of my car and i dare not think about what would have happened had the car gone straight into traffic. I do not know what component or system created this unsafe risk.
The sprayers on the hood would not spray windshield wiper fluid. My vehicle was in motion when i needed to clean my windshield due to poor visibility.
