Complaint regarding safety recall 16s26 / nhtsa recall 16v-384.i was first notified by lincoln motor company of this recall via a postal letter in july 2016.upon being notified of the recall i have asked the lincoln dealer several times over the 2 year period the recall has been in place when the parts, etc. Will be available to perform the needed correction.each time i have received the response that the parts of still not available.this recall has been in place for 2 years without being remedied by lincoln motor company due to the parts not being available.an airbag defect is a very serious issue that needs to be corrected as soon as possible.waiting 2 years for the correct part to remedy the issue is unacceptable in my opinion.
In july 2016, i received a letter stating that this is a safety recall and that deployment of the airbag could result in serious injury or death.the letter also stated that i would be notified when the parts are available.i was told by ford motor company nearly one month ago that were still no parts available.given the possibility of injury or death, i would rather not have the airbag connected, but disabling the airbag is a violation of law.am i to violate the law in the interest of my own safety?

Takata recall - i received notice from ford recently informing me that, once again, ford has missed a deadline and cannot project a completion date.according to their november 30, 2017 letter to your office ofchief counsel, ford has failed to meet their prior commitments to nhtsa and, more importantly, their vehicle owners who are left with unsafe vehicles with no assurance of a timely remedy.according to ford's letter, their failure is due to poor decisions on their part (e.g. Trying a "simple" design approach).as our agents representing the millions of at-risk consumers, i expect that nhtsa will not accept their open-ended request for extension, but rather enforce commitments made by ford with appropriate actions to ensure that they are held accountable for their commitments and decisions.to do otherwise would constitute a failure of nhtsa to fulfill its mission.

Takata recall:this recall date is notice has a date of 06/01/2016. Today is 12/26/2017. No answer to this recall in over 18 months. It is clear that ford/lincoln does not intend to remedy this situation which is wrong! so, i am filing a complaint to force lincoln to fix this problem before me or my wife are injured in this car due to an accident. This car is our primary mode of transportation and air bags are a very important part of vehicle safety. We always wear belts and expect the airbags to work properly in case of an accident.

Takata recall - for three weeks now, i've been trying to schedule a repair on my lincoln mkx's passenger side airbag after getting the notification from lincoln motor company + my safety recall number.all four of the lincoln ford dealerships near me in washington are either (1) not calling me back, or (2) have a wait list of customers that is 450 owners deep (evergreen lincoln ford)!!!that is a two year waitlist.this recall sounds serious, but it seems the dealerships around me have zero incentive or desire to fix a potentially deadly defect in the airbag.maybe because it is free?i'm unsure but i wanted to formally log this complaint because all of the videos, letters, messages from lincoln motor company state this defect is very dangerous, but the dealerships dont care.it's terrifying that myself, my family, my children, or friends could die because of shrapnel thrown out by this defective airbag should there be an accident.

Takata recall - ford/lincoln provided a mid-size suv rentalfor 1week and a half, then asked that i take a compact vehicle. I bought a lincoln mkx (mid size suv) and would like a similar rental while a fix/repair is provided for my vehicle. If my family wanted a compact vehicle we would've bought one, we bought a lincoln mks (mid size suv) as that's what my family needs. I would like ford/lincoln to accomodate to the level of vehicle owned. As of now, i'm being 'forced' to continue driving a vehicle that's not safe, putting my family/passengers at risk.if ford can't accomodate this may'be they should look at buying the vehicle back and i will go purchase another mid-size suv that's safe for my family.as of now, i'm driving an unsafe vehicle as ford will not provide a similar vehicle.please help!!!

There is a recall already.i purchased my vehicle in october of 2017 and checked for recalls.i saw the recall for the frontal passenger airbag inflator.i called a dealership in november of 2017 and they said there was no remedy available yet and to check back in the spring of 2018.here it is one year later and your website says there is still no remedy available.is there anything that can be done to get my airbag inflator replaced quickly?it is very dangerous for someone to ride in the front passenger seat.
Takata inflator and airbagwhen i enter my vin regarding the takata airbags, it suggests that my vehicle has two airbag issues for which parts are not currently available. When i contacted customer service regarding the matter they also indicated that parts for my vehicle would not be available until the end of the year. However, mysteriously after complaining about poor customer service at the albany ford/lincoln dealership in albany, ga via the 1-800 customer number, my vehicle was returned to me indicating that one of the issues was resolved (passenger) and the other was a non-issue. And thus they took no action. Everywhere i've read, parts are not available so i am concerned as to why my vehicle was all of a sudden "fixed" when i began filing complaints on my local dealership. I believe it is possible that i am driving around a ticking timebomb that has not yet been fixed thus jeopardizing me and my passengers. I think they are engaging in shady butisiness practices locally, but as of lately this seems nationally to be a company-wide ford/lincoln philosophy, and the local dealership is just a symptom, not the cause. From june 2018 until october 3, my vehicle was stored at the ford/lincoln dealership and i was in a rental vehicle. My vehicle was returned to me by the dealership on october 3, 2018.

We received the recall in june for a leaky fuel tank. We had that fixed. In july 2016 we received the recall for the faulty takata passenger side airbags. We went into bill knight lincoln in tulsa, ok only to find out that there are no parts to fix it. In the meantime, a friend of mine initially got a unlimited loaner car because of the nature of her counseling job with children. She drove different cars in the meantime while i have been stuck with the warning of possible serious injury or death to occupants in the car for the last 8 months. It is stressful for me to think about that, to say the least, for me and for anyone else who might be with me in the car. Since the recall, no one sits in the passenger side. Friends and family have to sit in the back. Even so, i still don't feel we are all free from dangerous flying debris if the airbag deploys, by no fault of my own. Are there any solutions set in place to expedite replacement. Btw, my friend received her replacement airbag months ago. She then traded in that car for a new one. Regretfully, some of us do not have that luxury.
Takata recallon 22 july 2016, i was notified of the recall.this is 1 may 2017, and i am told there are still no parts available.at what point are we able to disable the airbags in our cars to save ourselves in the event of a crash?
-takata recall-i have been waiting since june 2016 to get a possibly deadly airbag replaced.neither ford or lincoln customer service can give me an exact date that the airbag can be replaced, they are only saying possibly in spring in 2018.i drive around my two young children in this vehicle almost daily and i am worried sick of being in an accident.i have asked several dealers about loaner vehicles until parts are in, but i am told they are not.they are also saying that as long as there is no one sitting in the front passenger seat that the airbag will not deploy if in an accident, however my husband was in an accident (alone) in a ford flex just last year and all front and side airbags deployed... So i do not know if i believe them, and have no idea how they can guarantee that statement if a car is in a bad enough accident.

I received a letter from the lincoln motor company in july 2016 informing me of the safety recall for my vehicle regarding the passenger frontal airbag. I have called my local lincoln service department four times over the past year and a half to have the problem corrected, and each time i've been told that parts are not yet available. If there is a known hazard, shouldn't the problem be remedied quickly? i've now waited 16 months and the problem is still not corrected. It concerns me to drive a vehicle with a potential safety hazard, and i'd like to get it fixed as soon as possible before something happens.

Takata recall parts are unavailable, per town & country ford, charlotte, nc
The takata recall is potentially life threatening and unfortunately lincoln offers no solution to the customer and that is something that is not being taken seriously by the company . I have received letter after letter warning me that corrosion of the fuel tank is defective and directions to take the to a lincoln dealer. I have been to the dealer over 3 times and everytime its a different excuse as to why nothing can be done. I smell gas fumes all the time and have seen visible rust on the fuel tank. I received letters saying i would be able to drive a temporary rental and as usual every rental is already out within 100 miles of me. I called lincoln and asked if there are any near new york a metropolitan area and none what so ever can be found. So in ending i have a rolling death trap that can potentially ignite in flames or seriously injure if not kill anyone who sits in the passenger seat if i were to get into an accident. Please help however possible as this is a complete lack of attention from the company.
Takata recall - i received notice in june 2016 and have not received a fix to the airbag problem. The lincoln garage in newport news says they can do nothing because they haven't received the part. In states where road salt is used, ford is recalling certain vehicles where the license plate lamp assembly may experience an electro-chemical reaction and corrosion as a result of water intrusion.ford's list of recalled vehicles appear to be very narrow.my 2007 lincoln mkx (three years prior to the current recall list) has the same problem - one of the 2 license plate lights is corroded and quit working (it was rusted and fell apart when i went to replace it).i expect the other light isn't far behind.if there is an increased risk of fire, the current recall should warrant a closer look at adding more vehicles that used this component.re: nhtsa campaign number: 14v285000component(s): exterior lightingconsequence: corrosion may result in a short circuit, increasing the risk of a fire.
Multiple low beam headlamp harness plugs have melted.other running light plugs have also shown heat damage and caused the light to fail to work.bulbs are not failing but the receptacle/plug where they connect to the vehicle shows heat damage and melting until the light looses connection.i have replaced both low beam headlight plugs already and am getting ready to replace them again.this bulb/plug design probably affects other models and probably other manufacturers too.

I was driving out of the parking lot suddenly anxious about the gas pedal because however hard i pressed it, the car wouldn't move ahead. Imanaged to get onto the main road with the emergency wrench coming up along with the driver airbag and zero mileagefor the car indicating. However, this was lucky because it didn't happen on highway, i was extremely stressed out standing in the lane to turn to highway. I changed my mind, turned around, and returned to the parking lot at a crawl. I understand now that this is a common issue with the lincoln mkx 2007 due to the fact that the ford opened a claim website related to just this problem. No wonder recently i have been bombarded with the letters to renew my factory warranty as soon as possible. Just as i paid off my car last january, it started breaking on me. Is it the reason why you make your cars to last only during the period of the 5-year factory warranty?!now, to change sensor on the pedal cost 400+ and i am afraid to drive lincoln mkx because of this safety issue.
This is my parent's vehicle (2007 lincoln mkx) and information is being entered on their behalf.while driving at 55 mph, there was a "pop" which made the driver think she may have run over something, which she did not. Driver slowed and vehicle then started vibrating & hesitating. Engine light came on and vehicle would not accelerate above 45 mph (speed limit increased to 70 mph on hwy and vehicle speed could have caused an accident if other drivers were not aware of a slow moving vehicle). Vehicle was taken to dealer next day and owners were told coils were burned out and computer system was affected. Dealer also stated that catalytic converter may have been affected if vehicle had continued to be driven.cost to repair estimated at $2400.00. Mileage at time of incident was a little over 66,000 original miles.we are seeing other complaints online of coils burning out and computer problems for this model and feel lincoln should investigate this if they have not already done so.we also feel the full burden of repairs should not be on the owner as this seems to be happening to several vehicles.
I am inquiring about why there have been so many issues with the lincoln mkx from year 2007-2009 ignition coils connecting to the pcm or computer and it has never been an recalled issued. I called an this two months ago and made a complaint at the [xxx] number. I was never contacted. I had no issues with my truck then about last march i was on the expressway driving and just lose power. I went to autozone and was told that i had a misfired. I have been to two different auto repair shops tto have this issue addressed and change out the coils and both have advised me that the computer is not reading the coil, which is standard in my type of truck. Output speed sensor failure, due to a known tendency to short in the sensor wiring for 2007 lincoln mkx and ford edge vehicles.this will result in the wrench icon to light up on dash and vehicle will speedometer will be stuck at 0.the worst and most dangerous symptom, however, is that the vehicle will then be stuck in 5th gear, resulting in extremely slow acceleration from a stop or low speeds, especially on inclines.if you put the vehicle in park and then shift into drive, it will result in a heavy 'lurch' and very loud thud, that feels like the vehicle is being rear ended.driving a bit in reverse, then powering off and restarting seems to eventually clear this state and return to normal operation, until it happens again.has happened 3 times in the last 2 days.the first time it happened, it nearly caused an accident as i went to change lanes on the freeway after slowing down in heavy traffic.this can also be extremely dangerous making right turns with oncoming traffic, or left turns with approaching traffic.this is a known defect, due to poor sensor wiring\housing, and poses a definite safety threat. This should qualify for a recall.

When we purchased the vehicle from valley cadillac in roanoke va in 2014. We smelled something burning a few days later. We took it back to the dealer who kept it for over a week. They told me that they would have to send it to the ford dealer because they couldn't repair it.i was never was told what the issue was only that it cost upwards of $800. Here we are and i was stranded on i81 because the truck lost power and started vibrating . It was towed to a repair shop and i am mortified at the findings. The coil packs were bad. This is caused by the pcm computer failure.that information was not shared at time of purchase as something that needs routine maintenance.in addition, the fix was to weld a cracked and warped coil pack vs replacing it and he bad computer. Here i am $962 later and still need to replace the computer. Had this been done correctly the first time, i wouldn't be here. I have a picture that i will upload later.incidentally the exact same thing happened to my daughters 2008 mkx the month prior.

Water pump failure: lincoln mkx 2007driving down the road at approximately 55 mph, car was running great as usual when suddenly i lost all power except lights. At that speed, thankfully i had enough time to get over two lanes of traffic with no power and coast off the road. I had to car towed to a localmechanic where master certified technicians are working to replace my engine. The car had just been serviced for oil change, air filter, routine maintenance two weeks prior to this engine failure. Mechanic found that the water pump failed leading to oil and coolant in the engine. This car 122,000 miles on it and has been meticulously maintained. There is a class action suit over this, but i was never notified by ford or by my dealer (oxmoor ford lincoln) that there was a potential problem with the design of this engine. The water pump is inside the engine. When this fails with no warning it causes the engine to fail. This has lead to a cost to me of $6000 to replace the engine. I spoke to heather at lincoln quality today (case #11395985) and she said, "unfortunately we have nothing to offer you except our sincere apologies."this is not acceptable customer service. I was not asking to recoup my entire loss since the vehicle has miles on it, but they could offer something to a (former)lifelong ford customer.
I've been smelling gas and i thought it might have been from other cars on the road until today when my car started making a loud noise sounding like it was coming from the passenger front side.it stalled out on me around a month ago for no reason and when i went to park it today i kept smelling gas and noticed it's my vehicle.
Our vehicle was involved in a rear end crash while stopped at a pedestrian cross walk.the visual damage to our lincoln mkx was the exhaust system and rear bumper.the non-visual damage was the brake power booster.the power surge from the rear end impact while the brakes were engaged caused the brake power booster to fail.both my mechanic and the local ford dealer confirm that the failure of the brake system was caused by the damage related to the rear end impact in the accident.the local ford dealer has seen multiple vehicles brake power boosters fail due to rear end collisions yet the insurance company denied my claim for repair to this system. The failure of this system is a very hazardous condition as it is extremely difficult to brake the vehicle with out this system working correctly.
Leaking transmission fluid from front of vehicle by radiator.
Transmission fluid was leaking. Was told it was not covered under my warranty as the transmission cooler was damaged by stones. I asked for the part and detected that there were many stones embedded in he transmission cooler. This is a defect that lincoln will not admit to. Potential hazard if you spring a leak while driving on the highway.

2007 lincoln mk - 70k. Smelled gasoline several times at different locations today. Further investigation revealed that gasoline is leaking from the seam of the gas tank. Have seen multiple complaints on multiple sites including nhtsa for 2007 lincoln mkx and the ford edge(same gas tank assembly). The issue is occurring with these models around the same mileage. Ford needs to put out a recall on this item as it is a major safety concern and there should not be an issue with this part at this mileage.

I was smelling gas from my 2007 mkx.i checked under the car for leaks and didn't see any.most times the smell was strong after filling it, so i thought there may have been a little spill-off near the cap and didn't think anything more of it.a few days before 7/1/2014 the gas smell was really strong both outside and inside the car after just filling it up.on 7/1, i was still smelling gas and took the car over to my mechanic.he advised he was seeing an issue at the top of the tank but needed to drop the tank to be sure.he released the truck back to me advising me to drive the gas down to almost "e".when i got home later that day, i started doing research on-line and found many mkx/edge owners with the same complaints regarding the fuel tank.i called lincoln and they opened a case #.i took my truck back to the mechanic on 7/8 and he advised me that the sealing ring was crushed.he explained it was from corrosion due to the ethanol and it was very common.he ordered the parts and told me the truck would be ready on the 7/9.today, 7/9 my mechanic called me to get the ok to fill the tank.he called me back shortly to let me know he found a bigger problem.he advised when he filled the tank, he found the fuel leaking from the seam on the left side of the tank.he advised this was not common.he also advised he looked up the tank's part # and found there was a revision/update to the part but it did not state what it was.he advised me to get on the phone with lincoln and have them come out to take a look at the tank.i spoke with lincoln relations and they told me they don't do that.i'm very upset with lincoln.based on other customer complaints, this has been an on-going issues that lincoln/ford has turned a blind eye to.something needs to be done.

Smelled fuel around vehicle about a week ago. After a couple days after smell started, fuel began to leak & drip onto ground. By next day i lost 1/2 tank of fuel onto the ground. Took to dealer they found seam on tank is corroded and leaking. Repair is $2000. Tank alone is $1500. If these tanks are this costly, they should last much longer than 6 - 7 years. This is an unsafe condition and overly costly. I am upset to find this is a common issue and is ignored by ford as an issue. There is no reason for the cost to be so high on part unless ford is controlling it. For just about any other vehicle, the typical cost for a tank is $100 to $500. There is no special design. It does not come with anything extra. No pump. No sensors. It is a bare tank. This should be looked into closely and fomoco held responsible and recalls should be sent on these very unsafe vehicles.
The contact owns a 2007 lincoln mkx. The contact stated that nhtsa campaign number: 14v682000 (fuel system, gasoline) exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. Albany, ga (walb) - imagine you're on your way to work, when suddenly, you car suddenly becomes engulfed in flames. That's exactly what happened to anita tunstill tuesday morning while she was driving along roxanna road in radium springs. But when you see what's left of her car, you'll see why its miracle she's alive.it sounded like a dump truck at first, then came a loud noise."i just heard a crash. A boom." but what eliza berry heard from inside a roxanna road home was no dump truck. And what do she see? "fire. Just a huge fire."a huge fire that engulfed tunstall's lincoln mkx. The 57-year-old tunstall was behind the wheel of the suv on her way to work when she noticed smoke coming from the back of her car. Witnesses tried flagging her down, but by that time, flames were shooting up the side. She ran off the road, struck a mail box, a sign, and then skidded across the road leaving a trail of flames, coming to a rest underneath a power line. Rich williams was driving his kids to school when he saw what happened. "i'm driving around the corner and i see the trail of flames and i noticed that car over there was on fire."not knowing if anyone was trapped inside the burning car, williams and a group of good samaritans, employees at radium springs elementary, jumped into action."i got out and ran over, and mr. Poole, the gym teacher, and another teacher were over here, and this purse came flying out as it was on fire. This lady dove out and we just dragged her away.""the car just started popping, engulfed in flames and exploded."tunstall made out it, in shock, but virtually unharmed. It's a miracle she says, just to be alive.something she credits to the unselfish acts of others who put their lives in harms way to save hers. It isn't clear what caused tunstill's car to catch fire. We spoke with her by phone and she tells us she would like to personally thank those who came to her rescue, adding that she wouldn't be here without them.
After noticing same fuel leak under my car , i took them to ford dealership for inspection. Their technician found that fuel tank is heavily corroded around weld onthe rear side of the fuel tank, and that fuel leaks at that place when the fuel tank is full. He told me that tank should be replaced. After that i talked with lincoln representative and she told me that lincoln doesn't cover fuel tank replacement after 5 year warranty or 50000 miles.

I smelled the strong smell of gas while the vehicle was parked. Took it to a ford dealership and they found a leak in the fuel tank at the top of the tank. I was told the fuel tank would cost 1500.00 and then 500.00 for labor for a total of over 2000.00. I feel like this should not have happened to a vehicle 7 years old. I have had many vehicles over the years and have never had a fuel tank leak this bad before. This is a serious safety issue.

I went to the ford dealership on greystonein columbia sc to get my recall done. I was told that the part i needed for the recall was not in stock and that they would have to order it. After two weeks pasted i called to see if the part came in and i was told, it was on back order and they didn't know how long it would take to come in and that they would call me once it arrived. I never received a call.

About 2 months ago, there began a strong smell of gasoline in my garage immediately after filling my gas tank. After this happening several other times, i had the car tested for a fuel leak. A smoke test was performed and no leak was found. Upon searching an answer to this problem, it has come to my attention that this is a common issue in lincoln mkx and ford edge suv's made in 2007 and after. There are many in online forums who have been told the upper part ("neck") of the gas tank has corroded causing fuel to spray onto the chasis. This is also my experience, as i have been told the same thing by my mechanic. I believe this is a safety concern. The fumes after filling the tank is not tolerable and not safe. Whether or not this is a fire hazard, i can only speculate.
The contact owns a 2007 lincoln mkx. While refueling the vehicle, the contact noticed a fuel leak. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The vin was unavailable. The failure mileage was 95,000.
I am original owner of 2007 mkx. Received recall notice in dec.2014. Unable to get vehicle to dealership until 02/03/15. I have not had my vehicle since that date. Corrosion at fuel tank and leaking. Dlr informed me the vehicle cannot be driven. He had no idea when the part(s) would be available. It would be months. I was provided initially with vehicle from dealership. After week or so i was handed over to rental agency at ford's expense. I am now in my 3rd vehicle as of june. Have contacted ford motor company numerous times since early feb. Who apologizes profusely and say they do not know when tanks will be available. They are at mercy of their supplier. No dates maybe late summer. Recall notice indicates 3rd qtr. Dealership as of 7/7/15 saying fourth qtr. No exact date or time.i purchased that vehicle for intended use with business and family. Family members under 25 and frequent out of town family guests cannot drive the rental and until early june previous vehicles i had did not meet my business needs.this has been an unreasonable and unacceptable amount of time.i am very concerned how my vehicle will operate after having been idle for many months, nearly a year. Ford motor should purchase these vehicles at fmv with additional amount covering the rental payouts and the inconvenience through their unknown repair date. They might still have satisfied customers.only offer they have come up with in early april has been dealer value + $2500.00 towards another ford product. Not acceptable.
I had noticed a faint gas smell from my 2007 mkx. Fri 10/17/14 after filling up my gas tank and parking at work, i found a puddle of gas underneath my car. Took the mkx to my mechanic and found that the tank is rusting and leaking at the seams. $1600 for a new tank but none are available. Call ford consumer complaint line and told there is not a recall and ford would not replace or take care of the problem. There are numerous blogs about this problem with the ford mkx and edge cars but being ignored by ford. This is a serious safety issue and should be taken care of by ford. Do cars need to explode, catch fire or people die before something is done? your help in getting this safety issue taken care of would be appreciated.
Brought our 2007 lincoln mkx into the dealership in early 2014 complaining of a gas smell. We were told that the gas cap was probably not being closed fully.brought it back in january 2015 after we received the recall notice, and was told that they had to keep the car because of the odor. We just found out that it may not be until the summer or fall of 2015 that it can be fixed.we got an awful rental car, which while paid for by ford, is far from the car we bought. I'm incredulous that ford a) can't simply replace the fuel tank and brackets, b) has already taken two months and may take six more, and c) won't provide a comparable loaner vehicle.doesn't ford have an obligation, legally and morally, to fix the problem expeditiously?
My gas tank is leaking, ford has been contacted and are unable to come up with a new gas tank.i am being told the earliest possible date to receive a tank (new or used) will be november 7, 2014 and that is no guarantee.the girl i spoke with at "ford client services" mentioned that i should not be driving the car.i believe this problem is widespread due to the lack of availability of this part.
Have been smelling fuel for a couple of weeks outside the car. Found what appears to be a fuel leak coming from fuel tank. Called lincoln about the recall, they said it didn't affect my vehicle. I think it did, seeing how it has the same problem, and it's a salt/corrosion issue. I've lived in nebraska almost all my life, we use salt in the winter season. Regardless where it is built, i'm sure they are getting their parts from the same supplier. Lincoln is in the wrong, they should be taking care of the issue. This is a $2,000 repair that not everyone can afford to pay for. This is bs, and the last time i will buy a lincoln/ford product, if this is how they take care of their customers.
The contact owns a 2007 lincoln mkx. While driving approximately 5 mph, the vehicle jerked forward and the undercarriage detached from the vehicle. There were no warning indicators illuminated. In addition, fluids were leaking from the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to dave sinclair lincoln st peters (4760 n service rd, st peters, mo 63376) where it was diagnosed that the undercarriage, fuel line, and transmission lines needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, but offered no further assistance. The failure mileage and vin were unknown.
2/3/2015 i took my 2007 lincoln mkxin for gas tank recall. On november 25,2015 i picked my car up from the dealer. The dealer stated a new tank was installed. November 27th i filled my tank with gas and went approximately 15 miles before my car shut down while proceeding to stop at a red light. I turned the ignition and startedthe car and drove 1 mile further to my destination at a mall. My family exited the car and noticed a perfuse gas smell coming from the right side towards the rear. My husband looked under the car and noticed gas leaking. Either the recalledtank was not replaced by the dealer or the new tank is already leaking. The leak is coming from the seam of the fuel tank. While this is the short story it does not mention the all the damage occurred to my car by sitting for 10 months and being exposed to the harsh elements of the sun, rain, snow and the fact someone ran into it while in the dealers procession. My headlights are faded, paint faded, brakes squeal, dead battery and flat tires. Let's not forget it still leaks gas.
The contact owns a 2007 lincoln mkx. The contact stated that while parked, a strong odor of fuel emitted outside of the vehicle. Most recent, fuel leaked onto the ground continuously. The failure became progressively worse. The vehicle was inspected under nhtsa campaign number: 14v682000 (fuel system, gasoline) however, the dealer failed to perform a repair or replace the defective fuel tank as mentioned in the recall. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed that the fuel tank seams were corroded which caused the fuel to leak. The manufacturer declined to repair the vehicle. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000. Updated 03/16/16*lj

My 2007 lincoln mkx awd is making a howling/buzzing noise as i accelerate past about 35 mph and gets louder as i accelerate. Also at times as i'm waiting traffic signal lights i sometimes smell a propane/gas odor. Took my vehicle to 2 repair shops and both determined the noise/problem is the power transfer unit. The cause of the odor was not known. Work on the ptu is going to cost between $1800 - $2100. But the part will most likely be on back order. So i'm assuming this is a common problem.. Or a manufacturer defect.
My 2007 lincoln mkx is suddenly decelerating and stopping or freezing up while driving. The problem started after premier ford lincoln service repaired power brakes booster. I made several complaints to car maker and repairs shop. Premier shop appear unsure of problem and offered expensive solutions to force new car purchase. I believe lincoln is aware of problem and refuses to issue recall.
I was driving down the road to the store in town at 25 mph, and a light clanging started coming from under the car. Upon heading back toward my house the car began making a louder clanging and the car suddenly locked up. I though my car was seizing up in the middle of the road. It did not want to move forward!! it loosened up to make it the 2 blocks home.when backing into my driveway i was told one of my tires was not moving and the other one jumped. Upon having the car checked out i am td that ot os the ptu causing the issue. It is just lucky that i was not driving home from work when this started. Heaven forbid if my car would have locked up like that in the middle of the highway. That could have been deadly at 65 mph! this issue needs to be fixed as there seems to be a lot of complaints for this issue.lets not wait until someone gets rear ended into oblivion because of the ford company failing to build.these vehicles safely!
Only 118,000 miles all my 2007 lincoln mkx and the transmission is out oh, i bought a lincoln because i thought they would be a good vehicle to buy just because the name i guess but i guess i was wrong because you should not have a transmission out at 118000 miles.
"takata recall"
My wife's car stopped moving in an intersection, doing some research on this i have found that there is a defect in the transmission output speed sensor. It causes the computer to not know how fast the car is moving and kills the exceleration of the vehicle. I took the vehicle to a ford lincoln dealer and although when looking on the internet this issue is well documented, the dealer gave me the impression that they were not aware of any such problems.
Driver slow when air bag light is on
When in traffic, i speed up and felt like i was rear ended and it did this about 5 times and then i cant get it to do it again.
I was riving about 35 mph when the car stopped moving forward and a wrench appear in my dash. The car swerve and hit a curve to keep from hitting me had he not done that i could have been seriously injured.previously that happen to be and it did caused an accident. On november 17, 2011i had 49,136 miles my car was still on warranty and they bayway lincoln repaired it. Now less than 12,000 miles this happen and no one is responsible.i am a senior citizen very seldom drive my car and don't think it is fair for me to fear driving this car or be responsible for the cost.
We dropped my 2007 ford lincoln mkx off at interstate ford, 125 alexandersville road, miamisburg, oh on 8 apr 2012 for a warranty repair (ptu).at first, they told me it would only be a couple of days, then they said that the part should be in on 13 april.then they said that it should be in on 27 apr but that they weren't sure if it was being released.i called this morning and the part still isn't in.it has now been almost a month (may 3) and i still don't have my car back.i know it's in the warranty to not provide a loaner car.but, when they have no idea when the part is coming in and it's been a significant amount of time, then ford should step up to the plate and do something about it.they should provide a loaner car.it should not take this long for a warranty repair.i also think that there should be a recall on this because it is all over the internet that this is a known problem with mkx and a safety issue.i would like to see a recall on this vehicle and a change in the warranty.it's so bad that the part is on backorder nationwide.even though this did not cause a crash; i believe that it would have if i kept on driving it!
The transmission is slipping and is missing gears and smell funky
I recently submitted a letter to ford/lincoln company as well as the nhtsa dated 9/11/19.i reached out to lincoln/ford company last week in regards to stated letter and the error codes of p0356 and p1299, which has to what i have been told by (2) different care repair shops that these are common error in ford edge and lincoln mkx. These codes are related to the pcu module and the ignition coils not be readby the pcu module. I took the liberty of researching and i just went back to 2013 and found that over 100 other consumers have the same issue. I repaired mine twice already and its still an issue because of the pcu module , which is priced at over $800 alone. I was conversing with lisa relaford, who is the concierge service manager at lincoln client relationship center, who basically stated that if the car is not under warranty that they can not assist with any financial assistance,. Which is clearly a lie. I have recently had a recall on my airbag and a fuel pump via lincoln, at that time my truck was not under warranty, but they were replaced. So, that is clearly a contradiction. This is obviously a faulty part that over hundred of people have had and i am inquiring as to why it was never recalled or the part replaced. I have changed my ignition coils twice , which cost about $80 each ($160) and the idirium spark plugs that are required for my truckwhich cost about $20 each ($40). I would thibnk that someone, while driving whose truck loses power on the highway, ususally going at about 60 mph, is a major concern and in some ways life threating. Which is exactly what happened to me . This matter is of high importance and needs to beaddressed. Please refer to the letter that was submitted in september by me and get back to me with an answer , as soon as possible because once again my truck is not driveable.

Ptu leaking with a burning smell.seal and gasket replaced under warranty on 3/1/11 at 33,463 miles.ptu is leaking again in 2014 at 78,000 miles and this time there is no warranty.seeing all the ptu problems on the web with mkx/edge vehicles from 07/08, wonder where the engineers were the day they designed this part and the replacement part and why ford doesn't fix these 07/08 vehicles correctly or warranty this part to 100k miles. Ford/lincoln had their chance to fix my vehicle right in 2011 and blew it - will probably take it for repairs elsewhere.have owned ford products for years - maybe not anymore.
My 2007 mkx only has 135,000 miles since purchase we've had to change front axles, calipers, 2 sets of lifetime brakes but most concerning is the ptu has to be changed. As i was looking into ptu information i have came across detailed information that the ptu is a known issue through the manufacturer so i'm not understanding why there's no recall on this ongoing issue. I was driving and started hearing a loud metal thumping and felt like wheels were trying to lock up and when backing into driveway it started jumping.
Driving at 40 mph on a five lane state highway in metropolitan area. Sudden loss of power, lost throttle response, dash send odo data error message, with no odometer reading, wrench symbol.car coasted to stop in left turn lane. Loud cluck when attempting to shift to/from park, reverse, neutral or drive.unable to drive more than 2 mph, no matter what throttle position or gear selection. Ignition and engineturn off engine cleared error codes, but did not resolve issue. Mkx could not be driven and needed to be towed for service. Later learned that output shaft speed (oss) sensor and turbine shaft speed (tss) sensor failed, which placed mkx in electronic status of a high gear, thereby no acceleration or control possible without repair.later learned that lincoln has had a technical service bulletin published that diagnosed this problem in 2007! multiple complaints by motorist with similar issues with wiring to oss/tss sensors.well known problem to lincoln but no recall. Sudden lost of throttle at high speed is very dangerous. At highway speeds, lack of response from automobile could be fatal.this is not a wear problem, but an initial design or part design failure. Initial symptoms include poor automatic shift at middle range speeds.failure of electrical connection or sensors can occur at any odometer reading or automobile usage.
The contacts owns a 2007 lincoln mkx. While driving 45 mph, the vehicle shuttered and an abnormal burning odor emitted from the engine. The failure occurred without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the pcm was defective and the pcm coils burned and would need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000. The vin was not provided.
My lincoln mkx was having unusual loss of power issues while driving for some time.in mid-september, i discovered a thick, black fluid leaking from the car.on inspection by a mechanic, the problem was with the transfer case and a complete replacement of the transfer case was required.on further research, i discovered that this is a common problem, known to ford/lincoln mechanics, with the 2007 and 2008 models of the lincoln mkx and ford edge.i understand the problem was corrected with later models.
While at a traffic light i pressed the gas and my vehicle wouldn't move.after reaching 4000 rpm's the vehicle slowly began to move.after arriving at home i placed the vehicle in park and there was a clunk.i tried putting it in drive and it clunked again.i took it to a local shop and they said it was a sensor that controlled shifting.a week later the same problem happened.this time i took it to the dealer, they said there was a solenoid causing the problem.
The contact owns a 2007 lincoln mkx. While driving at approximately 55 mph, the accelerator pedal was depressed but the vehicle failed to accelerate. As a result, the speed decreased causing the two vehicles driving behind the contact to crash into each other. The contact was not involved in the crash. A police report was filed and no injuries were reported. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the control solenoid needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 49,136.
When going about 35 mph the car would vibrate. Sometimes it would stall and then slam into gear. Now the car started grumbling and i believe the problem is the power transfer unit.. The car will drive fine without the drive shaft but when the drive shaft is in you can't go over 5 mph and the car will start shaking and making a loud grumbling noise.. Like when your going over the rumble strips on the side of the road there is obviously a problem with these and hopefully ford will fix it..
The contact owns a 2007 lincoln mkx. While attempting to drive, the transmission failed and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was towed back to the dealer and was awaiting repair. The contact was informed that the ball joint and axle needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 46,000.
Click and grinding from front end when turning.eventually bearings had to be replaced and it was only 1 year old.a couple months later right front wheel broke off while driving and almost crashed, it took ford over a month until i got my vehicle back, now rear shocks are leaking and need to be replaced under warranty, i was just told today that the transmission is leaking due to a faulty part that is broken. The car is only 3 years old!
My 2007 lincoln has had transmission problems since i purchased-it had 66,000 miles on it when i got it. When i went forward and excellarated made loud clunk, like it fell on the ground!took into dealer and they said no problem and took it back in 12/2015 for recall-checked and said they did an update for $780.00, now car won't move in drive and makes a loud clunk when put in reverse. Trying to contact dealer again save sinclair-but my after market extended warranty is up-of course!
I have not had an accident yet, but several soon will!i have a 2007 lincoln mkx (same as ford edge and same problem according to the dealer).when on a hill, even a relatively slight incline, and you take your foot off the brake to go to the gas after a stop, it rolls backward!it acts like a car with a clutch-even though it is an automatic.i have never in 50 years of driving had an automatic that did this rather than hold itself for that split second until you can make the switch from brake to gas!.the dealers answer is that ford has said nothing about it and it" meets all specs".talk with ford dealersinformed me that edge owners have the same problem.the ford consumer line says it is "within engineering specs".they also suggested putting left foot on the brake and right to gas for faster rpm to avoid it!one service manager opined that the specifications were set so low at idle, to try and get mileage estimates within the required regulatory guidelines, that it did not have enough idle speed to hold the car onan incline, like most automatics, because of its weight!this is an accident waiting to happen, if it has not already!although rolling back into someone else's vehicle close behind you on an incline may not result in serious injury, it certainly will cause expensive repairs and unnecessary "road rage" between the drivers possibly resulting in injuries or death!ford should not be allowed to "cheat" on gas mileage requirements by reducing vehicle idle to the point of creating an unnecessary safety situation!
2007 lincoln mkx customer dissatisfaction and safety notification customer states that the vehicle down shifts extremely harsh and jerks bangs and throws you forward**nar**ccthe consumer stated that the vehicle has had transmission problems since taking possession of the vehicle. The consumer stated that it jerks so violently that it feels as though you have a hit a pothole. The consumer stated when speaking to the dealer they informed him that the excessive jolting or jerking was normal. The consumer provided road tests and the vehicle description information at time of purchase.

While driving on interstate i-10 at posted speeds, the engine began to sputter, lose acceleration and the check engine light appeared, the car was driven off the freeway (less than 1/8 mile) to the closest safe area. The car was then towed to the mechanic. An ignition coil was burned and the pcm/processor had failed. All 6 coils were replaced as well as the pcm following tsb 14-0059, after the pcm and coils were replaced, a check engine light still appeared indicating failure of the rear catalytic converter. At the time of the incident, mileage was approx. 71,195 miles.
As i was approaching a stop sign at a local shopping center, the driver's side seat suddenly moved forward, backwards, then the back part reclined and rested in that position.
The contact owns a 2007 lincoln mkx. When the contact pushed the button for the driver seat to recline, the seat fell all the way back and landed on the rear driver side seat. On july 17,2012 i got into my 2007 lincoln mkx and put the key in the ignition. I have a memory seat so it started to get into my position. Well, the seatback started coming forward and would not stop. It pushed my body into the steering wheel while the seat bottom continued to move forward also. I started to panic as i was wedged into the steering wheel and my knees were tightly pressed against the dash. I tried to get the seat to stop moving by pressing the set button on the door and it would not. Luckily, the seats are leather which allowed me to slide myself out. This has never happened before and was very terrifying. I honestly thought i was going to be crushed. There needs to be some type ofsafety stop. If the seat is moved as far forward as possible there is less than 5 inches between the seat back and the steering wheel. This is very unsafe as the motor is so powerful that it could crush a child or seriously hurt a pregnant woman.i am now too afraid to even drive this car for fear it could happen again.there is no reason that the seat should move that far forward. Apparently, there is some type of malfunction with the seat.i believe there should be a recall on this.
Front passenger seat stuck in incline position and will not recline to upright position. Seat is very seldom used in the recline position.
2007 lincoln mkx headrest is causing severe neck pain. Consumer states it is causing neck pain and headaches. He states that the headrest is fixated forward and cannot be changed. He said the pain is coming from the head being forced forward.the consumer stated the headrest only adjust up or down. Changing the seat angle doesn't change the headrest angle.
My mkx has stalled over the years and the dealer says that's normal. Well, for the first time, i stalled on a hill in a parking lot and my steering locked and brakes didn't work. As soon as i realized i stalled and slammed my brakes, tried to steer away from the car behind me, it was too late for the emergency brake. I slammed into a business associate's suv that was parked and we both have about 3k worth of damage.
Wheels on car are so corroded air will not hold in them lost of air pressure results in tire wear lost control of vehicle unsure braking redoing balance on tires andhost of other problems such as wear on shocks and struts vibrating of car causing structure parts to come loose and are fall out of line(hood headlights, front bumper, front fenders front doors ect.)the corrosive wheel are so bad from inside to out that they are a safety issue.this subject should fall up under the perforation warranty(rustcorrosion ).

The brake booster failed on this vehicle leaving the vehicle almost impossible to stop
Soft break pedal, from new 2007 purchase until present, safety problem you can press on the break and gas at the same time while in motion and not stop in time.
The contact owns a 2007 lincoln mkx. The contact stated that while driving at 55 mph, the brake pedal was depressed but it hesitated to engage without warning. The contact stated when the brake pedal was able to be engaged, a hissing and screeching sound emitted from the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired.
The brakes shutter when making stops and the pedal becomes hard then goes all the way down. This has happened many times whether at slow speeds in the city and highway speed, which almost led to an accident because the vehicle almost did not stop. Also the abs light comes on when driving on highway. I've had many parts replaced such as suspension front and rear, stabilizer arms in front, calipers, brake pads etc. But the vehicle continues to have this issue.
I have been having issues with my breaks being extremely hard to press and at times not hardly working at all and when engaged it makes a hissing sound and i have come across bringing it to the shop it is the master cylinder for the breaks and or the break booster and then came acrossed my year of this vehicle has a recall on these things so i need to know about how to get these things fixed under the recall
Brake booster- i noticed that whenever i came to a stop or slowed down - my car would continue to roll slightly even though i pressed down very hard on the brakes. The pressure of the brake pedal became very stiff and would not allow me to press down on it too much and it felt as if it was going to lock. I eventually had to put my car in neutral whenever i came to a stop just to be cautious and prevent it from possibly rolling into a vehicle or pedestrian crossing the street in front of me. Also, when at a complete stop, the brakes would tighten, my car would make an air pressure noise and began to almost stall or vibrate a little as if it would shut completely down. I did not take the toll road for safety reasons due to the hills so i immediately went to the lincoln dealership and i'm now out of pocket $786.00 later because my brake booster went bad.very frustrating since four months ago i had radiator problems and had to replace the cooling regulator to my radiator and replace the hose which was over $1,200.
While i was taking my children to school, was attempting to slow down and come to a complete stop, i could press the and make go down. I had to pretty much as they say stand up on the brakes. While at stop and still applying alot of force to the pedal the car is slowly rolling. The lincoln service manager said it was the brake booster causing the problem.big safety problem!
While our2007 lincoln mkxwas standing still, pressure was applied to the brake pedal and it went to the floor. I tried it several times over the next few days with the same result. Took it into the dealer, dealer said it was normal. I objected to that comment. On further investigation by the dealer, they said it was the master cylinder. They did replace the master cylinder. I got into the vehicle, pressed on the brake pedal, thought it felt funny, complained again to the dealer. They said they would give me a test drive with the same type of vehicle. Before that happened, the mechanic came out, got in my vehicle, pushed down on the brake pedal, which again went to the floor. His statement was huh?, must be in the vacuum system. That system is in the process of being replaced. Will keep everyone posted in the next few days.

Approximately 18 months ago, i had the lower control arm replaced on my vehicle, as it was found to be faulty and covered under warranty. When replaced, i was told that i should not experience any additional problems with it. Today, i took my car back to the dealership, and i was told that the control arm was faulty again and needs to replaced. This time, it's not covered under warranty. In reading many of the complaints about this particular model year, i notice that many people have had the same issue, which leads me to believe that there is a manufacturer defect in the parts being used.

Front suspension clunk.when turning left or driving over rough roads i notice a clunk or click.i had brought this to the ford / lincoln dealers attention and they said that ford is working on the fix and it was not dangerous.i asked for my paperwork for the various repairs that were looked at or completed and they said that they were going to keep it until they heard back from ford.i don't want some potential problem to go unnoticed.i believe this problem is linked to the failure of the suspension.if you push on the drivers side suspension underneath the vehicle it will make a click noise.

I was driving on 295 heading to foster ri. I was driving on the highway going about 55 mph when my suv started to buck then the check engine light started blinking and my suv wouldn't even do 40 mph so i got off the highway and pulled into a parking lot on hartford ave johnston waited for a tow truck while waiting my car stalled and wouldn't start back up. If i didn't get off the highway when i did i would of been involved in a car crash because i couldn't even do the speed limit. I feel this should be a recall because it's considered a safety issue to me. I had my car towed to tasca they said the diagnostic computer said it was the pcm, might have burnt out the coils and spark plugs. I feel this is very dangerous what if i wasn't where i could get off the highway it could of caused a bad accident or even death. So i'm asking can this please be a recall so nobody jeopardize their life.

My vehicle is affected by the takata recall. I was initially notified in or before june 2016. I see via the airbagrecall.com site that a remedy still is not available. I can't say whether this is a reasonable amount of time or not and i am looking for an expert opinion or an update. I received a post card in the mail today about the bankruptcy filing and went online to find more information.
I was turning and it started making loud noise like rattling .sound like metal and when i hit the gas it sound worse. Sort of like it was hard to take off. Also, sounds like something rubbing. The noise sounds like it's coming from the passenger side somewhere underneath.
Takara recall - torque converter failure causing transmission issues which result in replacement. Found several reports online. Car shutters horribly at 40 mph until 50 mph.
After sitting in our dealer's lot for 8 months while we waited for the fuel tank corrosion problem to be resolved (nhsa campaign number 14v682000), we picked up our car only to find that the fuel tank sensor was defective (showed e even though we had just filled the tank), and the cooling system has to be repaired. The dealer says the car is undriveable.

Lincoln suv mkx ran away acceleration. Reported to lincoln dealer. No action on their part, no follow up.
