The contact owns a 2013 lincoln mkt. While driving in a funeral procession, smoke and flames appeared from the engine compartment under the hood. Prior to the failure, the vehicle had been parked with the engine off for three hours. The driver stopped the vehicle, asked the passengers to exit, opened the hood, and extinguished the flames with a fire extinguisher. The fire department arrived to assist with extinguishing the flames and filed a fire report. There were no injuries. A police report was not filed. The vehicle was towed to the contact's shop. The contact stated that the vehicle had been in and out of the mechanic shop for six months out of the year it had been owned. Prior to the fire, the vehicle was towed to american limousine service cleveland (11723 detroit ave, lakewood, oh 44107) from where it was purchased. The mechanic made repairs to the vehicle, but failures still occurred. The vehicle was then taken to s&s/superior coach (2550 central point parkway, lima, oh 45804) where three computer monitors and wiring were removed from the vehicle. The dealer returned the vehicle to the contact a week before the fire. The contact stated that the vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 15v172000 (electrical system), but the contact did not receive a recall letter. The vehicle was then taken to reineke ford lincoln of lima (1360 greely chapel rd, lima, oh 45804, (419) 223-3673) where it currently remained for evaluation. The manufacturer was not notified. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 35,000.
All ability to control the hvac is lost while in motion. The vehicle allows me to select any function i ask of it on the center stack like ac, heat, feet vents, defrost with a confirming light and "boop" sound, however only hot air blows out the defroster vent and it cannot be turned off without turning the whole vehicle off. In cooler weather, especially when raining, the windows fog up and visibility is lost. Other systems affected are the lock/unlock buttons inside the car. When the vehicle is put into park and the unlock button is pressed, a soft click can be heard, however the car stays locked. The only way to unlock the doors is to use the keyfob. In an emergency situation, it would be difficult to exit the vehicle. Also, once the doors are unlocked and the vehicle is driven to a certain speed, the locks do not auto-lock again. When the vehicle is turned off, it does not recognize the key and the vehicle won't start, but the key-fob still works for unlocking and locking the vehicle. The tailgate button on the outside of the vehicle and on the key-fob will not work, however, the tailgate button inside of the vehicle does work. The vehicle will not go into an auxillary mode. If the vehicle is not turned off and continues to be driven, the car will "come to" after 30 plus minutes and work normally again. If the vehicle is turned off, it won't restart from anywhere of 1-30 minutes. When it restarts, everything is normal again. Dealer shows no error codes and doesn't yet know how to fix it.my best guess is that there is a computer issue, as some parts of the vehicle are fine, but others stop working. Issue started in june 2018, has yet to be fixed by lincoln. Usually happens 2-4 times a month. Latest it happened was 10-15-2019. Many videos of issue.
Door is ajar light fails intermittently. This causes the interior lights to come on which is very dangerous and blinding driver. When driving the interior lights come on blinding me temporarily.
Loss of power on the highway causing the car to stall then it kicked back in. Then it did not start after we parked it and tried to start it back up. We had it towed to aauto repair place that said it was the fuel pumpelectric module pemmay have overheated causing a loss of electric power to the fuel pump
Cover securing engine start/stop button popped off and start/stop button was pulled into the dash..can reach button only by fishing around in dash through access opening.secured button somewhat with bungee cord but button still inch or more in dash.obviously installed under excessive tension.notified lincoln but advised it was not an assembly issue.dealer estimate to repair- $645.vehicle has not not been in an accident and start/stop button has had only normal wear.vehicle mileage 68,000.believe this is major safety issue which lincoln should repair.
The contact owns a 2013 lincoln mkt. The contact stated that the battery drained completely and there was no access to the trunk. The contact stated that there was not a mechanical override to open the trunk. The vehicle was taken to several dealers and the contact was advised by each of them that there was no remedy for the failure because the vehicle was operating as designed. The dealer then referred him to the manufacturer. The manufacturer was contacted and referred him to page 79 of the owner's manual, which explained how to override the system. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 900 and the current mileage was 13,000.updated 02/26/13*lj updated 03/1/2013
Hishort yt video of the problem is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=83f_ia8yxvw&t=189s all the problem starts for "advancetrac" warning lamp going off, signals turn light not working and then follows the video. All kind of bogus error messages you can imagine. After stoping a car, there is no way to crank it againg because of faulty start system. Lincoln dealer had to reseted all 26 dts faulty codes in 11 modules ( thats on my receipt) and blamed everything on me for using too many 12v dc outlets. To make long story short! this is a common problem reported on many web forums. A sensor in the steering rack is not able to determine the direction that the wheels are pointing and generates the alarm. The indicators will not work whilst the alarm is on unless the stalk is held in place. The error can sometimes be reset but restarting the car but not always. This deficiency is well know by ford and many dealers yet ford refuses to acknowledge the problem with a tsb or recall action #15s18 or just simply fixed ther car. Thank you
I received a letter from lincoln to carry out some recalls that were not well repaired and, like the nhtsa recall number 20v072 case, were not repaired.does lincoln motor really want to help solve environmental pollution by replacing damaged low-quality catalytic converters, or is all of this false just to show authorities that the company is doing something?i would not like to discover the lie of the lincoln company, saying that it changed the two (02) catalysts and the four sensors (04) and after the service for several days, i found a 'poorly executed' repair.an easy investigation of photos and videos, before and after, engine light on, new noise (sounds like front catalytic joint), vibration, smell of burning engine cloth, smell of rotten egg that continues to exhale from the exhaust like nothing was done. A simple visit to another lincoln dealer, with the intention of having to change the catalytic converters, the price estimate was approximately $ 1,400 each catalytic ($ 2,800), 4 sensors $ 786, labor $ 600 = $ 4,189 + taxservice performed at orlando lincoln dealer, 2055 w colonial drive from 07/06/2020 to 07/10/2020see attached scanner picture from august 4, 2020
This lincoln mkt has given continual problems with fuel issues, engine problems, check engine light constantly coming on and taking it back and forth to the dealer and they cant even figure out the issue as to why the check engine light keeps coming on. The vehiclehas fumes coming from the pipes, it jerks and threatens to cut off and with all the repairs done and complaints sentto the lincoln corp, there is still no resolve. This is our family car, but we never know when it is going to shut off or start smoking or when the check engine light will come on. This makes the vehicle unsafe to drive and it seems to be unrepairable. Especially since each time we get it back from the dealership, the light comes back on. These problems occur with the vehicle in motion. I don't know when it is going to function properly or not and most times, i have my children with me. It is really scary.
Intermittently, when driving in light to moderate precipitation (rain or snow), the adaptive cruise control will not sense a car in front of it yet it will not default to "off/adaptive cruise not available".if my cruise control is set at a speed greater than the car in front, mine will continue to close the gap until a crash is imminent and i manually have to disengage by pressing the brake or turning the cruise control off. This has now occurred 6 times.the dealer suggested changing the module behind the sensor ($1,200) but, could not assure that this was the problem.

Received recall notice 14s10, nhtsa 14v-393 from lincolnand took vehicle to dealer for inspection.object of recall was found defective.left vehicle on 12 august, after being told the vehicle was safe to drive even with the defective parts.i did not feel comfortable driving the car after reading what the defect could cause.after 2 weeks, was told some of the parts were not available to complete the repair.i consider this not responsive to the public.
This vehicle was modified by small volume manufacturer baf technologies (now westport) with an epa-approved cng conversion package.the fuel filler receptacle, however, was not securely mounted to the frame.it was merely mounted on a plastic disc and glued to a plastic interior body panel.that glued mounting has now failed within the 'bumper to bumper' warranty period, but westport/baf has refused to repair it under warranty.their los angeles warranty service provider has also refused to perform this repair even if i pay for it.the original mounting method is extremely weak and would result in serious or catastrophic damage (e.g. Gas leak, fire, explosion) if the user were to 'drive off' with the dispenser hose attached.all of these vehicles need to be retrofitted to meet nfpa requirements for mobile cng systems, including the ability to survive a 'drive-off' without serious or catastrophic damage.see nfpa section 52 6.9.2 "the fueling connection receptacle shall be mounted to withstand the breakaway force specified in 7.11.6.2. (150 pounds in any direction the vehicle can move)"in addition, i believe this mounting violates nfpa 6.9.3 (receptacle not installed in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations) and 6.9.4 (insufficient clearance to prevent interference with operation of the fueling nozzle).this failure occurred when the vehicle was being refueled.the only damage in this case was to the receptacle mounting.the mounting was apparently not even strong enough to withstand the forces of connecting and disconnecting the fueling hose and nozzle during normal fueling operations.

Car would not start, so it was towed to local mechanic.said no fuel was being sent to engine by fuel pump due to computer issue.directed me to ford recall number 16s31, which states "ford motor company is recalling some 2013 to 2015 model-year ford and lincoln sedans and crossovers over an issue with fuel pump control modules that could fail, causing either a no-start or a random-stalling condition."when i search for my vin, this recall doesn't show up.please investigate to determine if the recall needs to be expanded.thanks

Purchased vehicle used with 103,000 miles in august 2020. From the start the car did not feel right. I was hearing a light knocking noise going over uneven roads. The wheel felt slightly unsteady brought to 2 mechanics and neither could determine a problem. Now 6 months later i have gotten 2 wheel alignments, going on my third. Brand new tires in november are almost destroyed. At this time i am terrified the car will loose steering function. The suspension feels horrible, car has very loose feeling when turning or going on uneven roads. Knocking noise is still present but now with a grinding noise while going under 30 turning either direction, reverse, forward doesn't matter. While driving the wheel feels like it has no control at times. Everything is heard and felt in the front end.
I've purchased my 2013 lincoln mkt awd ecoboost on 1-5-2020. Two days after buying it, i had to replace the fuel pump. My check engine light came on stated po420 catalyst system efficiency below threshold bank 1. The second row's seatbelt won't come out properly. Can't have anyone sit at that seat. For some reason i am unable to use my windshield water nozzle (not sure what's it called). I've been getting a message stating power steering fault, i turn off the car then turn it back on and it goes away. Thank god the steering wheel fault never gave me issues while driving.as of last week, i haven't been able to drive my car b/c of the power steering fault. Not too happy with this vehicle. I've had it less then a year and already having so many problems with it.

Door is ajar light fails intermittently. This causes the interior lights to come on which is very dangerous and blinding driver. When driving the interior lights come on blinding me temporarily.
Very strong exhaust fumes in cabin under heavy acceleration.smells like sulfur or rotten eggs.dealership has stated there is no solution.this appears to be the same issue that has affected other lincoln & ford models (such as the ford explorer).
The panoramic roofs on the lincoln mkt blow out for no reason. We have 14 of these mkt's in our fleet we have had close to 10 of the glass roofs shatter. We are very concerned that glass could fall into a drivers eyes as well as our passengers. Also when they do blow out a good size chunk of the roof blows out and anyone behind us could be in grave danger especially someone on a motorcycle. The design of these roofs is flawed and either these roofs should not be allowed or they should be design with a type of glass or plastic product that wont shatter. Lincoln has helped in some of the incidences with the cost but are now telling us a definitive no! cost to replace a glass roof runs about $1500
I've purchased my 2013 lincoln mkt awd ecoboost on 1-5-2020.
The contact owns a 2013 lincoln mkt. While the vehicle was stationary, the driver's side mirror became smudged and the driver could not see out of the mirror. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 127,000.
