The contact owns a 2010 lincoln mkt. The contact stated that the air bag warning indicator illuminated and remained lit. The vehicle was taken to currie motors ford of valpo (located at 2052 w morthland dr, valparaiso, in 46385, (219) 336-1373) where it was diagnosed that the seat belt buckle assembly needed to be replaced. Initial incident and failure mileage probably earlier. The 15-20 stalls experienced have occurred intermittently when starting from a stop or accelerating from a stop slowly. I have taken the car to the dealer at least four times, but the problem never manifested itself during those visits. I finally called ford customer service when i had three stalls in one day in mid april. Ford customer service case#cas-2461287 has complete details. Ford customer service had the dealer install a unit which had a button to be pressed during each incident. I pressed the button three timed (max allowed). One incident was a definite stall, the other two, were weak. The dealer results indicated that the car was operating normally and that one press was done while the car was in park (not true) which i told the dealer and ford customer service. I received no satisfaction other that an x-plan deal on a new car, when i told them i wanted to sell the car and would not buy another ford product. Today, i became aware that the problem is more widespread so i will not use the x-plan. While my stalling problem with eco-boost is not as serious as some, i have read about. It remains a serious safety issue. The ar is under warranty with 31,000 and seven months of 48 remaining. I am not certain what component is failing...updated 07-05-13

Although the warning was displayed, i was not aware that my car only had an electronic power steering.this type of issue is one that can truly cause a serious accident should one is driving when their power steering go out.the power steering on this car stops more than just your steering wheel and i for one think that there needs to be a recall.it's a good thing that i was parked and glad because my daughter was with me.

Electronic steering failed immediately while turning corner for unknown reason almost crashed into oncoming vehicles.

The contact owns a 2010 lincoln mkt. While driving 70 mph, the engine seized without warning. The vehicle was able to be restarted; however, the check engine reduced power and low oil pressure warning lights illuminated. The dealer was made aware of the failure. The technician diagnosed that the battery had to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 38,932. The vin was not available.

I have a 2010 lincoln mkt and i have been having trouble with the power steering. It randomly stops working and it difficult to steer the car. I almost hit a mailbox today because the steering became so stiff and the alert came up on my dash. There is a recall for the 2011 and 2012 models but the nhtsa recall should include the 2010 models as well. I have children and this is a huge safety hazard! i won't even be able to resell the car in this condition as it is random. Please consider looking into this issue promptly as i can see there have been other complaints and my situation is not unique. I pray to god i don't get in an accident because i don't have any other options for transportation and will try to avoid using the interstate in meantime. Thank you for your time! please update me at [[xxx] or [xxx].information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

While making a left turn on a bridge the steering wheel became unable to turn. During left turns the steering is often very difficult to steer.

"takata recall"my complain was filed here already 2 weeks ago and nobody haven't call me yet brought the 2010 lincoln to ford dealership and yes the issue was the power steering was off and pay for diagnose $160 and after that they said they can't reprogram because of no code found and will have to pay $2800 for the repairs not my fault that this vehicle was defected and came from canada i am the second owner so i just found out doing a lot of research about the recallbut since the car came from canada and just had it not even 2 months before i almost die on the freeway driving back home i don't know what to do. My power steering just suddenly lock and i can't move it and almost cause me to die thank god i pull over to the right end lane of other wise i'm already dead by now.

5/1/16 i did my break and rotor change at sears auto center after it get fix while i was driving on the freeway 180 my car suddenly says beaks light came out then my steering wheels got lock and i can't turn it the good thing i was driving on the right lane so i pull over cause i got scared and i am pregnant almost due.so my steering wheels is lock and i can't move the car highway parole came and ask me what happen so i explain and he called the road assistance on freeway to get my car towed somewhere around in oakland.so i call the living customer service but with no extended warranty they can't help me then i call sears ask them what happen to my car and they want to see my car again so they pay for the tow from oakland to san bruno ca to check it and there you are they told me that i have to bring it to ghthe dealership because it may issue a power steering problem i been driving the car with no problem this the first time it happen so i towed my car from san bruno to pittsburgh ca and brought it to the dealership and the dealership will diagnose the car i am still waiting but the ford service told me yes it's the power steering wheel was off how that happen i just want to see if lincon will cover the cost if it's recall.

Ipulled into my drive way and my car died out no over heating no warning light no anything. I looked under my hood to check everything and noticed my coolant was gone i then poured more into it realizing that it was all going out of my car i but not onto the ground. I called anmechanic who told me my coolant leaked into my oil my water pump failed. It failed internal to the timing chain cover and dumped a large amount of coolant into the crankcase which then contaminated the engine oil and over filled the oil pan. Im glad that i was home and not driving down the street because this could have caused a major accident. On further research i have found this has occurred many times. The engine in question is the cyclone engine and is fords latest v6 family of gasoline engines introduced in 2006, and is known as the duratec 35 which displaces 3.5 l, the duratec 37 which displaces 3.7l and the ecoboost 35 which is atwin turbo charged variant of the duratec 35, these engines are installed in the following vehicles, 2007'present ford edge, 2010'2012 ford fusion sport, 2011'present ford mustang, 2009'present ford flex, 2010'present ford taurus sho, 2013'present police interceptor sedan, 2011'present ford explorer, 2013'present ford police interceptor utility, 2011'present ford f-150, 2015'present ford expedition/expedition el, 2014'present ford transit, 2015'present lincoln navigator/navigator l, 2010'present lincoln mks, and 2010'present lincoln mkt which is the car i have

I bought certified (cpo) 2010 lincoln mkt inaug 2013. It had a mileage of around 50500 miles. After running just around 5k, it shivered and broke down on a trip when i was about to merge to highway from an exit and there were white fumes from the cylinder. At first they mentioned, there is a problem with fuel injector and it needs to be replaced. Later they mentioned of a problem with few other parts and replaced the same too. Then they mentioned of replacing the engine and done the same. But problem didn't solve. Later they changed the torque sensor or something and gave the vehicle after 1.5 months. But i was hearing some type of noise from the hood and returned to dealership in 2 days. And then they mentioned of replacing engine belt and axle. But still problem was unsolved and they asked me to authorize for opening the dash to determine the problem. But i opposed it and contacted lincoln. Later they authorized the labour and took the car again to workshop. After that they changed pulley belt. But the noise didn't disappear. Later they had an engineer from lincoln come and examine the vehicle. And the engineer asked of replacing the transmission. But it too didn't work. And the lincoln engineer came up again and mentioned of replacing 1 upper engine mount, 1 upper transmission mount, 1 front engine roll restrictor, 1 rear engine roll restrictor. It's already more than 4.5 months since when vehicle is under repairs and with no luck. In between a claim was made with lincoln to buy back or replace the vehicle, but they refused the same as well. So far below repairs have been made but the problem is still not solved 100%.

When i first got the car in 2010, the first incident occurred while i was driving about 40 mph. I would step on the accelerator and the car would jerk and the rpm's would rev up and nothing would happen.on an oil change service, i reported this to the dealer and they said they could not reproduce the incident and nothing showed up on the computer record chip.on many occasions after, the same thing would happen, i would step on the accelerator and the car would jerk furiously and the rpm's would rev up and nothing would happen...the car was at a standstill. This would happen while i was sitting at a traffic light or trying to make a left turn.if i was trying to make a left turn and this occurred, i could of gotten killed if the car did not move during the middle of the turn....luckily there was no oncoming traffic when it happened.i reported this may times to different lincoln dealers in the metro detroit area...they all said it could not be reproduced...they made me feel as though i was crazy for reporting this. I would even go to the dealer on the day it would happen so they could check the computer chip within 24 hours of the incidentand still nothing showed up. Finally, a check engine light came on about a year ago, and the dealer finally determined that it was a speed sensor that went bad.the dealer could not detect the problem if the speed sensor was partially bad, it had to fully go bad in order for it to be detected.this was very frustrating and cost me a lot of time, money, energy and mental anguish wondering if i was going to die because the car would not work while i was turning or in the middle of traffic.

Over the last 2 weeks, my lincoln mkt has experienced several episodes of shuddering and loss of power. In addition, a significant amount of smoke has been spewing out of the tail pipes occasionally - this usually happens for several seconds after the vehicle is started. I first noticed the shuddering while driving along the highway. The next day, there was a significant loss of power while driving. The dealer diagnosed it and said it is a turbo underboost problem that can be remedied by replacing the turbos. Due to the significant cost of replacement, they suggest that i consider replacing the vehicle, as some of their customers do. This tells me we have a known issue!a turbo problem on a vehicle with under 100,000 miles? sounds like a major defect that the manufacturer should be aware of.

A gas type odor enters cabin of vehicle.i believe it to be carbon monoxide.i often have to roll down the windows even in cold winter weather to prevent carbon monoxide from overtaking the cabin when the heating system is on.

Catastrophic water pump failure.i was driving on the highway and the engine started knocking and white plumes burst from the exhaust.i was lucky enough to get off the highway and to a safe place before the engine failed completely.

First time i was driving at about 20 miles per hour and let go of the gas pedal the car jumped out of drive and did a jerking soundthey replied it was 2 solenoidswere replaced the next time i was diving up a hill with a 20% grade and tried to accelerate and it lost all power. It remained thesame on acceleration. No power what so ever until i made it to the top.

On several occasions the vehicle's engine shudders and seems to lose power while moving if the gas is stepped on at a fast rate.

Getting onto the interstate and tried to accelerate and car started knocking, and shudder had lose of power. This has happened on several other occasions. No check engine lights come on.

I have two complaints on this vehicle.1. Driving down the road and hear a loud explosion that was the moonroof,. 2. The water pump was defective and put coolant into my oil and ruined the engine.this seems to have happened way too many times for this not to be a recall on both of these.my car literally overheated out of nowhere.

Turbo has gone out but this makes the second time that this had happened. I have investigated this problem with others and have found the same problem with the turbos! i notice it smokes excessive and was told its a fire hazard and not to drive on highway. This problem occurred while driving on the street when it began losing power to accelerate!

On september 23, 2010 i picked up my first ford car; a 2010 lincoln mkt from ted russell ford in knoxville, tennessee.after riding in the car a few days it was evident no matter how we adjusted the front row seating the head restraints left us with a stiff neck at the end of the ride.the service manager, mr. Perry ball, advised us the only option to our problem was to remove the head restraints.this is not a safe option.please provide us with a safe resolution to this problem.

Within weeks of getting my 2010 lincoln mkt the brakes were acting strange and making a grinding sound. I felt that the stops were getting dangerously unresponsive. I took the car in for service and after putting 50 miles on my car was told they could not find anything wrong. I took my car back and the brake problem got worse and everyone who rode inmy car would comment on the noise my car made as i applied pressure on the brakes. I took it back and was told that another model had experienced the same problem and that they were just going to replace the brakes. After a few days the noises and my discomfort driving the car began again. I also know someone who has the same car with the same exact problem, that lincoln has been unable to remedy. It is obviously a problem, i hope that none of us are hurt due to whatever the problem is.

Repeated brake failure starting december 16, 2009.occurs every time we start using the car after it has sat for awhile until brakes are pumped up or several stops are made.2 front calipers were leaking but problem continues.we have a complete timeline of events available.

The power steering cuts out while vehicle is in motion. Error message states power steering assist failure, typically during a hard turn at low speed such as in or out of a parking spot. 15v340000 recall is for the next model year and the dealer and manufacturer have stated this vehicle cannot be fixed under that recall.

Upon starting the car the power steering failed and a message appeared saying steering malfunction.two days later it happened again and very nearly caused a crash.

The contact owns a 2010 lincoln mkt. The contact stated that while reversing out of the driveway, the power steering failed and steering wheel locked. The vehicle was turned off and restarted several times before returning to normal operation. The power steering assist warning light illuminated after the vehicle was re-started and the steering remained in the locked position. The contact again attempted to turn off and restart the vehicle however, the vehicle failed to restart. Gervais lincoln, inc (24 reiss ave, lowell, ma 01851, (978) 454-5696) was contacted and the contact was informed that the vin was not subjected to a recall. The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and the contact was referred to nhtsa. The approximate failure mileage was 97,000.

"power steering assist fault" light comes on and power steering locks up or becomes very difficult to steer.i barely avoided an accident.i had to stop the car in traffic because i couldn't steer the car.i found i could barely steer the car with great effort and was able to drive car to side of road.this very same issue appears to be across many ford/lincoln 2010-2013 models.there was a recall for apparently the exact issue in 2015 (included 2011-2013 lincoln mkt) but not the 2010 which i have.my car is experiencing the exact issue.a quick research online shows that this problem is experienced by many ford/lincoln cars sharing the same "electronic power steering assist" system.this is a very serious and dangerous issue!the steering of the car itself become locked and nearly inoperable while driving.apparently the nhtsa is already looking at this very issue (see here: https://www.detroitnews.com/story/business/autos/ford/2016/10/03/fusion-edge-nhtsa-investigation/91473188/).the nhtsa needs to know that the issue is common to the "electronic steering assist system" not only in the "fusion" or "edge" but across many ford/lincoln models including the lincoln mkt.the specific ford/lincoln part is a "trw gen 1 epas" module.this same module is used on many ford/lincoln cars.only some of the cars containing the "trw gen 1 epas" module were part of past recalls.all ford/lincoln models containing the "trw gen 1 epas" module should be recalled/repaired before someone gets killed.

Periodically getting "power steering assist fault" and the epas electric power steering quits working.apparently there was a recall for this exact issue, but it only included 2011-2012 lincoln mkt/mks and ford flex when it should have also included 2010 models.so far it has only happened when the vehicle is first started (stationary) and we've been able to get it to work again by shutting off the vehicle and restarting.

The contact owns a 2010 lincoln mkt. The contact stated that the service power steering indicator illuminated while driving approximately 30 mph. The contact was able to park the vehicle at a safe location. The vehicle was not drivable. The contact spoke with franklin park lincoln inc. (5272 monroe street, toledo, ohio 43623, (888)-706-4075) and was advised to have the vehicle towed to have diagnostic testing performed. The vehicle was not towed to the dealer. The manufacturer informed the contact that the vehicle was not included in any open recalls. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 102,000.

The contact owns a 2010 lincoln mkt. The contact stated while driving 10 mph, when the power steering assist warning light was illuminated and the steering wheel became difficult to turn. The contact stated he was able to park on the side of the road. The vehicle was not drivable. The vehicle was towed to local dealer mall of georgia ford located at 4525 nelson brogdon blvd, buford, ga 30518, (678) 515-9339, where it was diagnosed with needing steering module to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired as of yet. Upon infestation, the contact associated the failure with nhtsa campaign number: 15v340000 (steering), however the vin was not included. The manufacturer had not been informed of failure. The failure mileage was 150,000.

Sudden loss of steering assist. Messages appeared to "service advancetrack" and "service steering". Two incidences within 3 days.both times the vehicle was in motion, once on an exit ramp and once on a state highway. Near loss of control due to the extremely difficult manual steering mode that resulted.very unnerving and dangerous to suddenly lose steering while on the highway. Fortunately i was strong enough to maintain vehicle control. My wife may not have been so fortunate.

While making a left turn on a bridge the steering wheel became unable to turn. During left turns the steering is often very difficult to steer.

The contact owns a 2010 lincoln mkt. The contact stated that the eps warning indicator flashed regarding a power steering assist failure. The vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 15v340000 (steering); however, the 2011 models were included. The contact stated that the vehicle exhibited the same failure as the recall campaign. The vehicle was not diagnosed by a dealer. Cannon ford-lincoln of starkville (12249 ms-182, starkville, ms 39759, (662) 323-1900) was contacted and a diagnostic appointment was scheduled for july 16, 2019. Expand recall 15v340000 & 15s18 (loss of steering) this is the 2nd complaint filed in less than 2 months for this 2010 mkt. The 1st was on 12-24-15 in which a complaint was made on this site and is viewable, but have not received any feedback as of yet. Lincoln covered the first repair in which they discounted my findings of the steering recall when i presented them with it. So they diagnosed it and confirmed loss of steering due to a failed steering angle module sensor and a software upgrade at a cost of $400. Well, here i am again with the same exact problem, loss of steering going around a corner on 2-12-16. Again, luckily there was nobody around and it happened at night because i ended up on the other side of the road doing 25-30mph. Also the warning lights on the dash started to flash- "service power steering now" & "service advancetrac". This is obviously the same problem that the other years have and are listed by vin under the recall but ford/lincoln refuses to accept responsibility and it will unfortunately take someone to get injured or killed for them to do so. This time around the diagnosis is the steering assembly, recalled on other years,(ca5z3504a) needs to be replaced at a cost of $2300 originally, reduced to $2000 after arguing with andgoing back and forth with lincoln for days, and they will cover $1500 of that and we are stuck with the balance. I am filing a second complaint more towards the safety issue than the $500 we have to pay. There has to be other people out there with different years not covered under the recall and i am reaching out to them. Other vehicles included in this recall are ford fusion, taurus, flex, mercury milan and lincoln mkt, mks and mkz. I am hoping someone looks into this closer and other people file complaints.

Driving in the highway the power steering got stock& almost loose control and i put over them the stering became hard to turn

2010 lincoln mkt- we were traveling home on christmas eve 2015 in goffstown, nh when suddenly out of nowhere as we were turning a corner the steering wheel tightened up and just about locked into place in the turn. We had just got off the highway returning from my in-laws from 40 miles away. Luckily there was nobody in that intersection because i was clearly on the wrong side of the road after this happened and nearly missed going into the ditch. The time of day was also a blessing in disguise because it was just about midnight and we were almost home so the kids could open some gifts. I looked down at the dashboard and the service power steering/service traction control light was flashing. A bit late to say the least. We stopped on the side of the road after correcting the steering wheel with 2 hands and sat for a minute. Another blessing was we were less than a mile to home when this actually happened and being the time of day, we decided to continue on very slowly driving with absolutely no power steering and 2 hands gripped to the wheel. I am a truck driver/equipment operator by trade and have always taught myself to expect the unexpected which this was. My wife was going to drive home originally and i said i would and i am so glad i did because this may have had a different outcome especially if it happened at another time and place. The car is in our driveway as i make this complaint on christmas day and will be being towed to a dealer tomorrow. After doing some research online, i came across the other complaints with different years covered and now know there is a problem with other years and models with the pscm (power steering control module). Ford has a current recall (15s18) with the same problem listed. I am hoping that the investigation reopens a new recall for expanded years of these mkt models and possibly others before someone gets killed.

I was driving along and all of a sudden my power sterring went out, almost had a accident

07/04/2016, driving home from 4th of july fireworks at approximately 1030pm, speed 55-60 mph, temperature about 65, heading west bound on straight route, with my husband driving, myself as passenger, and three minor children in the 2nd and 3rd row. (note: no cars around, no external issues, no previous cracks in glass.) boom sounds like a riffle just shot at my car. Pulled over into local markets parking lot. The entire back panel of the cars moon roof is spider webbed and completely shattered with chunks coming out. I had to unload my children into separate vehicle for their safety for it looked like the entire roof of my car is going to collapse in. My husband examined road at the point of explosion and the vehicle once we got into our garage. There was no signs of any foreign objects or logical reasoning for the sunroofs explosion.

The large tempered glass roof panel of the panoramic "vista roof" on my 2010 lincoln mkt shattered without warning with a loud, frightening explosion while driving 65 mph on the ny thruway on november 30, 2014.the panel was not displaced, although small pieces of glass fell onto the head liner.luckily, the sun shade was closed at the time. It was a miracle there was not a serious accident, given the volume of traffic at the time.research discloses that similar events have happened numerous times with other lincoln automobiles.

Sun roof exploded showering driver and passenger with shards of glass cutting hands and arms.i believe the sun roof should be laninated glass.

The incident occurred in a parking lot, in bright daylight at 4:05 pm. The lincoln mkt was being driven on an errand to a shopping mall. The driver made a left turn, and stopped for another vehicle backing out of a parking spot. On proceeding to make a right-hand turn into the same parking spot, the vehicle traveling slowly, there was a bump/or jerk and the vehicle accelerated on its own. This is the point of the unintended acceleration, in spite of the driver using the brakes, the vehicle accelerated over the sidewalk and continued into the wall of a cvs drug store. The wall stalled the vehicle, the driver put the vehicle into "park,"hit the stop/ignition button and exited the vehicle. Police and fire department responded, the police officer did not file an accident report. There were no injuries only property damage.he interviewed the driver and observed the car stuck in the wall of the cvs store. He was present for the exchange of insurance and drivers' information. The fire dept ensure safety of the building after the vehicle was removed. The vehicle was towed to the ford dealership for inspection and repair. Their dealers mechanic did not find a computer record of an "error message." in hind-sight there had been a previous low speed bump followed by a surge in acceleration but this occurred at an intersection with a stop sign, the driver did not attributed this as mechanical because the car was moving. In the 12/18/12 accident the driver was trying to stop the forward progress and the lincoln mkt would not respond. ..updated 01/30/13 the consumer was the driver of the vehicle, but not the owner. The consumer stated she may have unintentionally contributed to the problem. The vehicle was tested and the computer did not record an error. A certified mechanic checked the throttle, etc and there was no sign that a mechanical problem existed. The consumer does not want to pursue the complaint. 01/31/13

After driving at high speed or high load and then coming to a stop, an exhaust smell will fill the cabin with visible smoke coming from under the hood.my friend was driving my car and said he almost passed out, while driving 50 mph, before opening a window. I have personally experienced this problem as well, thinking my car was on fire. Ford dealer says there is no recall or known fix for this problem.

A gas type odor enters cabin of vehicle.i believe it to be carbon monoxide.i often have to roll down the windows even in cold winter weather to prevent carbon monoxide from overtaking the cabin when the heating system is on.

This brief - will need additional explanation of all evidence -- i purchased mkt lincoln approx 10/2010. I also was told by then f&i mgr [xxx]that the ford extended warranty is the exact same and he described as the extension of the factory bumper to bumper warranty that comes with the car - the price was $1705.00. I asked him it is the exact same ? - he said yes. Well i purchased and have since found out he was wrong and also suspect he had told others the same thing. In 10/2014 the factory warranty expires and i will still have problems with the car that dealer today states will not be covered to work on .. To date the car has been 145 days out of service, around 10/2011 rob sight lincoln ford - kansas city, mo (now rob sight ford)declined to continue to fix problems. I filed complaint to ford,. Resulted in assignment to tom sight ford-lees summit, mo , who refused to touch car since they were not a lincoln dealer. Then ford assigned to olathe lincoln ford - olathe, ks. 12/2011. To date, they have attempted to fix numerous problems, succeeded in some and not others.. Currently car is at their location with problems they can identify and can not fix. Other problems were with the design flaws and safety issues regarding collision control blind spot warnings and when i have went through the ford arbitration - with the bbb, they denied my request for buy back stating -- since those were options, can not include in the ford arbitration and problems were not within the 18 month time line, which was not true. They had all the copies of work orders indicating the opposite of that and still was denied.. It would take a law suit to continue this.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
