2009 lincoln mks.consumer writes in regards to vehicle ignition failure.the consumer stated the vehicle has a keyless ignition module that was used to open the doors and to start the engine. Recently, he started experiencing problems with opening the doors. The consumer had to use the emergency by-pass system to start the engine.on march 12, 2014, the consumer returned the vehicle to the dealer. After an examination, they determined the ignition module needed to be reprogrammed.however, they had to get some new equipment, so the reprogramming, was not done that day. Before the consumer was able to return to the dealer, his wife became stranded in a store parking lot. The door would not open, and a passerby had to her help her, until the door opened. She was then able to start the engine with the emergency by-pass system. The next day, the consumer was stranded in the same way. A store employee took his ignition module and kept walking around the car keying the module until the right passenger door opened. The he was able to start the engine with the emergency by-pass system. The consumer returned to the dealer. An inspection revealed the smart junction box needed to be replaced.
My vehicle is equipped with the thx sound system and for the past few months when starting cold there's been a loud cracking/popping sound when first started. Upon turning the car off then on, the system seemed to reset itself, however, now there's no audio coming from the system yet it shows on the equalizer that there should be sound coming out.i've done some research and found tsb 09-5-1 best reflects the situation that is occurring with my car.i purchased the car last summer and this was my first winter in the vehicle.also, within the past 6 months, the left rear door will not unlock properly when using either the key fob or the manual unlock button.one has to have perfect timing when unlocking the door and pulling on the door handle for the door to actually be unlocked.
Rear driver side suspensin coil spring broke while backingout of driveway. Also on the electrical end, the power locks rattle to the open & close position constantly on drivers side & rear passenger side .
I got in my vehicle 1 morning and noticed knocking once i started it. A very light knock.i immediately knew something was wrong.i checked and changed my oil.the oil was milky and i suspected that coolant was being mixed with oil.i have always got my oil changed when required.my car has never ran hot.the vehicle was stationary in my home driveway.prior to hearing the knocking my vehicle was fine.
As i was drving the vehicle stopped in the middle of traffic with no warning or no warning lights on the dash. I had it towed to the nearest dealer where they informed me that the motor was blown at 86,000 miles after buying it at 66,000 miles from lexus of lincoln. The dealer informed me that they cold not do anything and now being stuckwith a $6000 loan on a vehicle that is no longer available to drive.
I purchased a mopar vehicle protection plan as my first extended plan from chrysler for a pre-owned 2009 lincoln mks model. I took the vehicle into a reputable lincoln-ford dealership to have a few issues resolved. These issues are: 1) bad smelling fumes entering the cabin of the vehicle when the air is on in any mode setting such as the windshield or base mode. The fumes smell so toxic that sometimes it results in nausea and headaches. You have to turn off the air and put down all the windows to air out all the fumes in the car. The smell comes and goes and usually happens when the car has been driven for over 20-30 minutes with the air or heat on. The dealer quickly found the issue and gave me a diagnosis. There was a leak and they even showed me where the leak was coming from.the leak was burning into the exhaust manifold and created harmful fumes which was going into the cabin of the vehicle. I left the vehicle at the dealer because it was not healthy to drive it, especially since i did not want my family going into the car; especially my new born and being exposed to potential nausea, headaches or any illnesses. The car was at the dealership for almost two weeks before an inspector came out to inspect the vehicle. 1) the inspector felt it was not a serious leak and that he qualified it as a seepage and not a leak? this raises alot of questions on the inspector since i believe that mopar is paying him a percentage to keep the repair costs down by rejecting honest claims2) the inspectors claims raises questions on whether or not he is truly qualified to inspect this vehicle. If he was doing his job correctly he would have made sense that if the vehicle is seating (not driving), the gasket or seals won't expand causing the heat to shrink the seal or gasket causing the oil to pour out! any professional would know the difference! overall my car was not fixed.
The contact owns a 2009 lincoln mks.the contact discovered that all of the windows were down when the vehicle was not in operation.the dealer suggested that the key fob must have been touched and caused the windows to go down.she was unable to roll the windows back up until the vehicle warmed up.the dealer stated that the global opening system needed to be disarmed in order to remedy the failure.they further stated that in order to pinpoint the failure exactly, the keyless entry global system needed to be re-armed.her concern was the sensitivity of the vehicle fob opening.no repairs have been made to date.the failure and current mileages were less than 150.
The contact owns a 2009 lincoln mks. While driving at various speeds, a loud whistling noise emitted from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump needed to be redesigned. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 182,000.
A/c condenser and transmission unit.a freon leak in this unit can dump freon gas and compressor oil into the transmission which can cause trans problems or transmission fluid can leak into the a/c system and ruin all components in the system. This can be a very expensive repair or the car is junk. Trans cooler should be a separate unit to prevent this problem.
Two issues:the rear doors retain water after a storm and need to be drained by hand by holding the rubber flap at the bottom of the door away from the door itself.the locks randomly do not fully unlock when you use the key remote, the unlock button on the door, or even manually pulling on the lock knob. The lock knobs jump up and down and you have to try to open the door handle at the perfect time to catch the lock open in order to open the door. This problem seems to rotate through all 4 locks for random intervals and with random selection. It always seems to be on at least 2 locks at any given time.
The contact owns a 2009 lincoln mks. After he picked up his vehicle from the dealer, he smelled engine oil burning. He was told that because it was a new vehicle, it was normal. He took the vehicle back to the dealership and was told that the dealer did not see anything wrong. He noticed the issue again and took the vehicle back to the dealership where it was confirmed that the transmission fluid was dripping onto the exhaust manifold. At the same time, the rear doors would not open with the remote or the button; it would re-lock before someone could open it. The technician told him that there was a service bulletin for the issue and that they would take care of it. The vehicle was at the dealership at the time of the complaint. While driving home last evening,i slowed for the stop light @ rt 83 & rt 7, in palos heights, il. As i came to a complete stop, my brakes locked, vibrations shook the entire vehicle, i released the brake pedal, and began to smell a burning smell--no brake failure light came on.i inched forward- a loud grindingsound was evident. I stopped the vehicle- waited for the light to change, began driving when the light changed- slowly the grinding, vibrations, and smell, stopped as i approached 10 mph. My wife was riding in the in the vehicle and can verify all that is stated. On 11/14/08 receipt # cs320391 was serviced on my vehicle @ 1,532 miles, to address grinding brakes. My current milage is 40,651, with a more severe problem. I researched the lincoln owners website and found tsb 09-24-14 has been issued to address this this problem.two weeks ago well, after i had this issue serviced, i felt a brief vibration after i began to exit from parking lot!!
In december 2013, i took my 2009 lincoln mks to the dealer for service because it occasionally accelerates before slowing down when i apply the brakes. On a different occasion i was behind a car that slowed down then came to a complete stop to avoid hitting a deer. I applied the brakes, my car slowed down and made a weird noise as if the car was trying to start up; instead of coming to a complete stop, it kept going while my foot was on the brakes. The technician drove me and my son around the block but could not duplicate the problem. I was informed that if the check engine light is not on, or if there are no codes, and if they cannot duplicate the problem, there was nothing they could do.on january 14, 2014 as i pulled into my carport before coming to a complete stop, the car made the same weird noise, and continued going forward and pushed its way into the side of my house while my foot was on the brake. When the noise stops, the car stops. I took the car back to the dealer on january 20, 2014 and they kept the car to drive to see if they had a similar experience. They told me they could not find any problems with the car.i can understand that they cannot fix a problem if they can't duplicate it, but the problem is sporadic.what disturbs me the most is that when i gave details of the problems to their service department, the first time on the write-up they only reported that i hear a noise upon acceleration. The second time they didn't give me any paperwork. If they are only telling their repair department to check for noise upon acceleration, then they would not be checking the car for the actual problems. I have been fortunate both times that no one was injured.
Brake pedal when coming to stop sometimes goes all way to floor. When sitting at ideal speed the brake pedal will go all way to floor. This has been a problem for the past year and reported to lincoln dealer for warranty work under a seven year warranty. Car accelerates when brakes depressed when coming to stop and foot is on brakes and brake pedal is depressed and edge of foot also hits accelerates. Dealer had auto from late july 2015 till jan. 5, 2016. Problem still exists as of jan. 5 2016 but dealer states that it is my fault, took to another dealer and the service guy said the reason the brake pedal goes to floor is that lincoln has what he called a pass through brake system. When car is not running the brake pedal is solid and will not go to floor.while i took car to dealer for this problem in july 2015 it has been a problem for several years but keeps getting worse. Brakes have been bad from day on when i bought the car originally the rotors had not been turned and were throwing brake dust. Due to that turning the rotors had to be replaced a couple years later.
Breaks on london mks 2009, the breaks on this car continuer to have problems. I have taken it to multiple shops and no-one can find the problem. I have replaced the master cylinder, breaks, rotor, checked break line and they are all good and continue to grease the caliper pins. Breaks go to floor when trying to stop, replace the breaks and rotors way to often.
While making a left turn at slow speed, the front brake locked up without my foot on the brake (11/2014).it has also happened twice since then.dealer has checked it out twice and has found nothing.
The contact owns a 2009 lincoln mks. The contact stated that while applying the brakes to complete a turn at 10 mph, a loud metal-on-metal noise was heard. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the technician stated that the front brakes needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was repaired. The approximate failure and current mileage was 22,000.
While pulling out into traffic on a very busy four lane street, i turned left to get into the turn lane. All of a sudden the anti-lock brake light came on, the left front wheel jerked and grabbed and the accelerator would not let me get out of the on-coming lane for a few seconds. This could have ended a lot worst. This is the second time this has happened and the dealer says there is no bulletin for this problem!
The contact owns a 2009 lincoln mks. The contact was driving approximately 50 mph and as the brake pedal was applied, a loud metal to metal noise was emitted. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer six times for the failure. The front brakes, rotors and the entire brake system was replaced on the vehicle at various times. Multiple instances of front brakes grinding when braking.purchased car as a demo in december 2009 with 7800 miles.brakes were grinding within 30 days.has been in the dealership multiple times.going for fourth (?) repair as soon as parts arrive.apparently there is an tsb issued by ford/lincoln.
The contact owns a 2009 lincoln mks. The contact stated that while driving at unknown speeds and applying the brakes, there was an unusual noise that intermittently appeared. He contacted the dealer who advised that the noise was normal. The vehicle was taken to three different dealers and the brake motor was replaced.the failure recurred. We leased the 2009 lincoln mks with 71 miles on it in february 2009. The problem is a grinding noise and vibration occurring when the brake is applied coming from the right front wheel (passenger side of vehicle).took the car into the dealership starting in aug.2009 vehicle had 3476 miles and they stated they had to order parts. Brought the vehicle in for the fix- new brake pads. Had to bring the car into the dealership for anadditional 3 times from dec.2009 to may 2010 for same recurring problem. They changed brake pads as only fix.sent lincoln a defect notice as required per florida 's lemon law and contacted the bbb auto-line to initiate our claim.aug 31, 2010 final attempt to repair was done by ford. They stated they could not verify grinding noise per their road test, but proceeded with tsb 10-17-03. This latest tsb newly designed brake pads were installed.we don't like being their test case and we have no confidence that another set of brake pads regardless of the new design will solve the problem.curious that the noise and vibrations occur only on one side of the car (passenger right front side wheel area) and ford had no answer when questioned. Previously, the grinding noisehas returnedabout 60-90 days after the new brake pads have been installed.there is no guarantee that this "final attempt to repair" the brake problemwill be the cure.we are not satisfied with ford's fix. Field serv.tech wrote on the service report he believed that there were no safety issues with the brakes and problem we described having.we do not have confidence in that opinion.we are afraid to drive the car and after having the car for almost 2 years have only 10,717 miles.we will pursue our lemon law case.
The contact owns a 2009 lincoln mks. The contact stated that while the brakes were engaged there was a loud grinding noise. The failure occurred intermittently. The dealer was notified, test drove the vehicle but was unable to duplicate the failure.ford motor company issued five tsb's regarding the brakes grinding. The brakes have been repaired five times. When the vehicle was repaired the noise did not recur for approximately 2000 miles. The failure continued to occur. The failure and current mileages were approximately 25,000.
The contact owns a 2009 lincoln mks. The contact stated that there were constant issues with the brakes. The rear brakes were grinding and were repaired at the local dealership. However, the front brakes made a lot of noise and seemed as if there was no brake pad. The dealer stated that there was a related technical service bulletinfor the front brakes and replaced them; however, the failure continued. The vin was unavailable at the time of the complaint. The failure mileage was 0. The current mileage was approximately 11,600.
Brakes and support brackets are defective on the 2009 lincoln mks...i have had the brake pads replaced twice in the last eight months and now they tell me they need to install special brackets relating to the brakes.i had a serious problem trying to stop my vehicle late last year in 2009 and reported to the dealership. They could find nothing wrong but did change my brake pads shortly thereafter for the second time...now they are telling me that they are trying to expedite the parts from the factory within the next two weeks...i think this should bea major recall and all persons driving 2009 mks vehicles should be alerted to the dangerous situation.
The contact owns a 2009 lincoln mks. The contact was driving at approximately 5 mph when he noticed that the brakes were making a loud gringing noise. The contact took the vehicle to the authorized dealership for repair six times but the dealer could not find the cause for the failure. Both the brake shoes and rotors had been replaced but the repairs did not remedy the problem. The contact called the manufacturer and was informed that there were no recalls on his vehicle and instructed to call nhtsa. The problem had not been corrected at the time of the complaint. The failure mileage was approximately 300. The current mileage was 8,859.
The contact owns a 2009 lincoln mks. While driving the vehicle at speeds of at least 20 mph, the vehicle would exhibit a dragging sensation. Two issues:the rear doors retain water after a storm and need to be drained by hand by holding the rubber flap at the bottom of the door away from the door itself.the locks randomly do not fully unlock when you use the key remote, the unlock button on the door, or even manually pulling on the lock knob. This problem seems to rotate through all 4 locks for random intervals and with random selection. It always seems to be on at least 2 locks at any given time.
The contact owns a 2009 lincoln mks. The contact stated after rainy weather conditions, a substantial amount of water settled in between the front and rear passenger's side door panels. The failure caused a musty odor and mildew inside of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer, who was unable to locate the problem. The manufacturer was notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.
Rear driver side suspensin coil spring broke while backingout of driveway. Also on the electrical end, the power locks rattle to the open & close position constantly on drivers side & rear passenger side .
Taking off from a signal and the transmission made a clunking sound and feel. The car rev'd up and would not shift out of 1st or 2nd gear.this has now happened twice.on more than 5 occasions, when accelerating from a stopped position, the tires hit a small patch of sand and the car will jerk and stop immediately with the over drive light flashing. The car will take up to 30 seconds to recover before it will let you move forward once again.
Faulty door locks : the doors will not unlock using the key fob on mks model in weather temperatures above 70 degrees and it poses a safety hazard if children are in the car. When attempting to unlock the car using the fob or keyless entry the feedback is a rapid unlock/re-lock, similar to a jackhammer. The vehicle is in stationary mode in parked .
From day one my sunroof has leaked on passenger side after raining, i have unclogged the (2) drains at the sunroof........doors hold water from day one......what is going on here???
Vehicle does not have an automatic shut-off, if engine is left running. My mom died from carbon monoxide poisoning in april 2013 after she failed to stop the engine with the manual shut offbutton. She was found in her bedroom, which is next to the garage. The car was stationary and in the closed garage. I do not have the vin number, as the car was sold in 2014. All vehicles should have an automatic shut off after twenty minutes of running.
The telescoping feature of the steering wheel has a gear inside of the steering column that is known to fail in this particular vehicle, which could cause safety concerns if the steering wheels needs to be raised in the event of a collision. The failure of the telescoping gear prevents the steering wheel to be moved up or down.
Accelerator pedal jammed and engine was revving high at 5000, i have press hard on the brake to slow down to avoid hitting other cars whiletrying to pull away same way like the previous incident that happens 7 months earlier. I then disengaged the transmission to neutral to be able to cut off the engine , wait for 10 and shake the gas pedal , before i cranked up and continued to go on .
As i was driving the gas pedal got locked as i was approaching a stop sign and the engine was revving high at 5000 rpm . I tried to turn off the engine but it will not respond , so i had to make a sudden right turn onto a less traveled street to avoid hitting other cars .i then disengaged the transmission to neutral to be able to shut the engine off .
