The 2005 lincoln ls left the road, hit a ditch, and overturned several times in a field. The vehicle overturned side to side. The airbags did not deploy during the crash. The driver seat and the passenger seat we're both occupied at the time of the crash. We do not believe that the accident was caused by in a faulty mechanisms in the vehicle, however, despite multiple impacts during the accident, the airbags never deployed. The injuries sustained in the crash could have been prevented, or minimized, if the airbags would have deployed as they should have.the insurance company is esurance and the claim number is [xxx] and they can be contacted at [xxx]. [xxx] is the adjuster. Thank you, in advance, for your prompt response and attention to this matter.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
When i put the truck in park then when iam ready to pull off it stuck in park plus my airbag light wont go out
The passenger side impact airbag deployed without an accident while i was driving. Ford has refused to fix the vehicle claiming that i "must have had an accident because of the diagnostic computer code". Only the one bag deployed, damaging the seat and the passenger side seat belt retractor molding. No one was sitting in the passenger seat at the time.
On may 13th, i was driving down the road when all of a sudden my driver's side curtain airbag deployed.fortunately, i was able to avoid a wreck but damage to my vehicle interior and my left ear was done.
- the contact owns a 2004 lincoln ls.while driving at 55 mph the contact heard a loud noise and noticed the driver's side air bag deployed without warning. The vehicle did not impact anything to cause the deployment of the air bag.the driver was injured.the vehicle was towed to the dealer, who was unable to repair the vehicle.the dealer stated that there was a hole in the floor underneath the seat which was caused by a foreign object on the road. The foreign object made contact with the side air bag sensor, which caused the deployment of the side airbag. The vehicle was sent to a collision inspection facility, and, they were unable to inspect the vehicle. The vehicle was sent to a different dealer. The second dealer stated that the side air bag deployed due to debris hitting the undercarriage of the vehicle.the current mileage was 25,000 miles.
I was driving on a county road in colorado to pickup some food. I was not going very fast because i did not know where i would have to turn. The side impact air bag deployed. I did not hit anything and nothing hit me. I have done everything that the car company has asked and now they will not take responsibility. The car has not been fixed yet.
I was driving in glennie mi on vacation and the drivers side airbag went off. I was not in any accident, nothing hit my car. I was driving around 40-50 mph. I now have a bruise under my left shoulder and have had several headaches.
When i drive my 2005 lincoln ls it loses power and begins to shake and sputter.when it does this can only drive about ten miles per hour.warning light indicates throttle problem, but the dealership is saying they can not duplicate.stalled out on the interstate (dangerous).when i pulled over and turned the car off and restarted it ran fine until the next incident.has done this about 4 times now.it also changes gears very abruptly when i slow down and attempt to regaining speed, mainly when i'm making a turn at a low rate of speed.
Safetyproblem car still in warrantytime after time had concerns about my problems now have my car at crown ford nashville tn. Out of warranty now have to pay 18000 dollars to fix, even thedealer asked ford to help but its fell on deaf ears im sure ford does not care at all.
2005 lincoln ls - took the car out.as i began to accelerate, the car slowed way down and an indicator light came on stating "etc engine failsafe mode". I could not drive over 35 mph.this is extremely unsafe as i was a traffic hazard to others.
It was driving fine one day until i went to start it. It said etc engine fail safe mode, check parking brake and something about the gears. It starts sometimes, i've had it shut down while doing 50 mph and lose steering and bad braking. This is a potential hazard for my newborn in the car. Now it wont start and no one knows what the problem is. How can they sell a car that they cant find out the problem on themselves and sell it?
Driving down the road and looses all power and the wrench light comes on and the check engine light also so i took it to the dealer they say all 6 of the coils need to be replaced and so do the spark plugs 1350 buck they want even though the codes my car is putting out are in one of fords services bulletinsi only have 54000 miles on it its a v6 like new.
While traveling on a divided highway at approximately 65 mph my car abruptly slowed to about 10 mph causing vehicles behind me to brake and/or swerve around me. A "wrench" warning light came on and i found after getting to a safe spot and stopping, that the owner's manual stated that the car was in the "limp mode" where it would not go any faster and needed to be taken to my nearest ford dealership. After stopping the car i shut if off and upon restarting, the warning "wrench" light was off and the car acted normally. I drove to a mechanics and found that it's a somewhat common problem, diagnostics showed that it needed a throttle body assembly replacement. After spending over $525,the problem recurred several times.this is obviously a major problem for many other ford vehicles and must be turned into a recall. When this happens in traffic or on an expressway at 65 mph plus, this could quite possibly cause a high speed chain reaction fatal crash.this same problem was just written about in the usatoday newspaper.
As soon as the warranty expired the vehicle began to have intermittent error messages about the parking brake needing service and the climate control began to blow only hot air.vehicle has very low miles, garaged meticulously, serviced. Lincoln contacted about the issue and was told i needed to have dealer run diagnostics and then they could know whether they may be able to help with repairs to climate control.paid 170.00 for diagnostics, dealer and lincoln refused to do anything sticking me with the bill. They made the excuse that it was my fault because it may have occurred because i didn't drive it enough. I was shocked , its first time that i've heard suggested that taking care of something caused it to break! . Ridiculously poor customer satisfaction department.
Multiple problems-probably some how related :in speed up lane to interstate - at 55mph car bucks/hesitates while trying to gain speed onto the interstate at 45/55 mph constant speed car looses power and begins to buck/hesitate causing you to loose speedcheck engine light sometimes with above criteria - p0305, p0306, p0300.
The transmission shift abruptly and very hard gear shifts at times. I also had the car loose complete power while driving at low speeds. I would press the accelerator but the car would not respond to the throttle input.
2005 lincoln ls v8etc failsafe error -- mainly happens after heavy rain.car will not shift correctly then loses power. Etc failsafe & parking brake error is shown on dashboard. Happens constantly on the highway when trying to merge or pass someone. Dealership says is has something to do with the parking brake trying to automatically engage.
The car turns on and runs but loses power randomly. It either sputters dead or stalls and backfires. When i turn it off and turn it back on it repeats the cycle. I have replaced fuel pumps, throttle body and maf sensors. And still no luck i see on the lincoln forums that this is a problem not yet recognized by the nhsta or lincoln.
Etc engine fail safe - electronic throttle control replaced with oe... Continues to produce an etc engine fail safe and no code(s) specifics for faulty coils (or which coils) (3 bad coils & passenger side valve/spark plug cover gaskets) or possible faulty alternator. Also, climate control device failed 3 times and was replaced 3 times. Cheap thin walled anti-freeze and windshield washer fluid reservoir cracked during extreme cold weather conditions.
Coils keep failing on low mileage car. Electrical issues with various components and security alarm goes off many times each day.
Nothing lead up to this event... I was driving on i-95 in rush hour traffic hit the gas and the car threw a warning "etc engine failsafe mode" which left the car in a state of having no engine power. I was lucky i did not cause a serious accident with cars traveling at a high rate of speed and this car just lost all power i did manage to get the car off the road and shut the car off then turned it back on and it acted as if nothing was wrong. I got the car off of i-95 and on to surface streets where it happened one more time before i took it to lincoln for service. According to the dealership pompano lincoln mercury the part (throttle body assy) is not a warranty item and even in an emergency cannot get the part for almost 30 days. I have to continue to drive this car as i cannot afford to rent a car for 30 days as well as spend the $900 for the repair. I have done some research and literally thousands of lincoln ls owners have experienced this throttle problem yet at this time ford has done nothing to make this safety issue right and as the demand is so high cannot even supply the parts for their customers safety.
2005 v8 lincoln ls with 78 k miles started giving me an error message ecl engine fail safe mode came on in my car and the engine went to idle when i was able to get out of traffic i put it in n and restarted engine it ran ok but did it 3 times beforegetting home took it to local parts stores to be diagnosed it said throttle body failure.
Since purchasing this car, its been nothing but problems. The problems i've experienced aren't any different from all the other ls owners. Coil packs going bad, the a/c blowing hot air, the car going into fail safe mode while on the freeway, the smell of gasoline inside the car. It looks like these issues have been going on since ford started producing the car. Now wonder they needed bailout money. I got in my car this morning and it went into fail safe mode 3x's before i could get out of the drive way! all of these issues with this car dating as far back as 2001, and no recalls, c'mon man. My tax dollars went to help out this company!!!! [xxx]shame!!!! this is my first and last time buying a ford!information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
2005 lincoln ls with brake failure . Customer states the vehicle stopped when the she hit the accelerator. Computer display showed service etc soon, and the parking brake warning light was on.the consumer attempted to move the vehicle out of the lane of travel using the emergency brake release and the gear shift lever to release the brake but could not move the vehicle except to the side of the road with an extreme bucking motion. The consumer turned off the ignition and restarted the vehicle and the error messages were gone, and the vehicle drove normally. The consumer checked the vehicle and noticed the brakes and rotors were extremely hot. The consumer took the vehicle to the dealer, however they were unable to duplicate the problem the consumer experienced. The consumer stated the road was dry and there was no loose gravel that should have caused the anti-lock brakes to activate. The consumer stated the same problem persists with brakes locking and the engine lost all throttle response, the vehicle was towed to the dealer and the dealer replaced the throttle positioning sensor.
The contact owns a 2005 lincoln ls.the contact stated that the accelerator pedal was becoming stuck while attempting to operate the vehicle.while driving less than 65 mph, she felt as if something were stuck underneath the accelerator pedal and it would resist force.the dealer could not duplicate the failure; however, the diagnostic determined that the throttle failed.the failure persisted and the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who installed a throttle actuator control, gasket, and accelerator pedal sensor to remedy the failure.after the repairs, the parking brake warning indicator illuminated on the instrument panel.the mechanic assured her that the brakes were replaced and the instrument panel displayed a faulty warning message.to date, the failure still cannot be duplicated and the contact is awaiting the arrival of a part that would apparently remedy the failure.the failure mileage was 63,295 and current mileage was 66,000.
Ford lincoln mercury~manufacture warranty extended on ignition coil - but each time ignition coil goes out it causes numerous "other repairs" costing $900+ each time.~ vehicles begins to run rough, the temperature gauge goes to top, the car looses power (while in traffic even though foot on accelerator) will not accelerate~ 5 times in less than 11 months~ these "other repairs done each time ignition coil is replaced should be covered under extended manufacture warranty.(incidents june 2009/ october '09/ january 2010/ march 2010/ april 2010).
The contact owns a 2005 lincoln ls.while driving at an unknown speed, the engine warning light illuminated on the instrument control panel.the vehicle was taken to the dealer on several occasions and they replaced the thermostat, alternator, power module, and battery.the vehicle stalled twice after the repair and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer.a representative stated that the starter needed to be replaced.the dealer still has possession of the vehicle.the failure mileage was 33,450 and current mileage was 33,964.
Emergency brake stick . Can't gonna where stuck.
Drove about 30 miles slow down to a red light when engine went into failsafe mode but did not throw any codes. There was no check engine light at all. Ittook a couple of tries to get it running again. I am very concerned for my safety while driving extensively on highways without any clue as to how to solve this issue.
The contact owns a 2005 lincoln ls. The contact stated that the etc engine fail safe mode warning light was constantly illuminated. While driving 45 mph, the vehicle decelerated independently to 10 mph. The vehicle was taken to the dealer at least three times for the failure but the dealer was unable to reproduce the failure.the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The vin was unavailable. The failure mileage was unknown.
While traveling on a divided highway at approximately 35 mph my car abruptly slowed to about 20 mph causing vehicles behind me to brake and/or swerve around me. I contacted a number of dealerships and mechanics and found that it's a somewhat common problem, but the fix could be anything from a bad transmission solenoid to a complete fuel/computer/ignition redo for $4500 to $6500. Having this happen on a rural road is one thing, but if it happened on an expressway with traffic at 75 mph plus, could quite possibly be lethal.

Car lost power on turn into traffic, wrench light and check engine lights went on car, car went on "limp home" mode as i entered onto the highway at very low speed.
Over heats constantly this is a known issue with this cardeffinatley manufacturer problem
Coils keep failing on low mileage car. Electrical issues with various components and security alarm goes off many times each day.
I have three major problems with my 2005 lincoln ls. The first problem is i have a hard reverse and the gears stick between 30-35 mph as i accelerate. Sometimes it has a hard bump once it starts accelerating! the second problem is that i have replaced two ignition coils within a year apart and now i have two more ignition coils that need to be replaced per p0354, p0301and p0304.i have replaced the throttle bottle, but the limp home sign has occured twice since then causing the car to decelerate!! the third problem is the catalytic converter per p0420. I purchased this car in 2009 with less than 50,000 miles, less than a year the transmission started slipping!

The contact owns a 2005 lincoln ls. The contact stated that the ignition coils were replaced frequently before 100,000 miles. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis where it was stated the ignition coils misfired and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the problem persisted. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

Car shuts completely down while driving - can be up to speeds of 50 mph - with no warning.
The contact owns a 2005 lincoln ls. The contact stated that whenever it rained and the vehicle was driven through a puddle of water, the check engine light illuminated and the vehicle ran sluggish. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the contact was informed that there was a failed engine coil that needed to be replaced. The contact was not informed what was allowing water to enter the vehicle. The failure mileage was unknown and the current mileage was 6,000.
I own a 2005 lincoln ls, and i have had to replace three coils and plugs just recently, i have an understanding that some of these cars were recalled because of manufacturers defect if they were manufactured at certain plants. I called a dealer and they said my vin number was not one of them, yet i have had the exact problem that they described. My question is why wouldn't they all be all be covered under the recall if i have had to replace three already. It seems to me that these cars should all be manufactured with same parts and have the warranty, here i had to pay to replace the coils and plugs in my car. The dealer did say there was a recall on this problem.
Owner of a 2005 lincoln ls. Car shuts down and goes on throttle mode at any given time. It seems to occur after a heavy rain fall. This failure occurs several times a month and be very dangerous to drive. To supposedly correct this issue, i have taken it to a lincoln dealership to be robbed because they can never figure out the issue.please help!
On at least 5 different occasions at highway speeds and trying to pass, car has lost all power and the wrench indicator has appeared on the dash, at that time car looses all power and the only choice is to pull over and shut car down , which does not always work while you are in traffic on a three lane highway with out you getting killed or injured by other drivers. I have contacted our local ford garage..... I explained to jack in service and he explained to me that he has seen more and more of these problems and the cure was to replace the throttle body.... I am wondering if this is a safety issue and should be taken care of by ford/ lincoln. I hoping to get this situation resolved before someone gets hurt or killed in a accident.
Dt:the contact stated the check engine light and other lights illuminated.the vehicle would not accelerate over 40 mph.the mechanic reset the warning lights.but was unable to diagnose the cause of the problem.the warning lights illuminated again.this time the vehicle would not accelerate over 30 mph..
Sudden loss of throttle response on 2005 lincoln ls with 3.9l engine.this happened many times recently with my daughters vehicle. Close calls when in other traffic when there is sudden loss of throttle. When this occurs, there is no mil ( malfunction indicator light ) nor is there a dtc ( diagnostic trouble code.vehicle will only idle enough to get off road.turn off ignition and restart vehicle with no problem.this isrecurring more frequently with her car and also have read alot of forums about this problem.vast similarities on all forums with no apparent resolution from ford lincoln.
Driving my 2005 lincoln ls down the street tonight all four windows were down. I pressed the button to let up the windows just before entering the freeway.driver window came off of the track and back of the window continued to go up while the front of the window dropped down and looked as if it were going to fall out onto the freeway i got off at the next exit.call the 1-800 number for lincoln 24- roadside assistance.phone rep put tony wang on the line this problem was above her expertise he said it was the weekend and he could not help me until monday. Unless i just wanted the car towed to the nearest dealer to sit until monday.no rental car assistance is available on the weekend.i asked for his supervisor, donald bryant was not working tonight i askedtony to have donald call me in the next ten minutes so i can figure out what to do next. That was 10pm 8/18 it is now 11:30 pm no call.the other complaint is i bought this car straight out of lease 40k miles now has 47k vibrations started at 70mph around 43k after lincoln fixed a defective master cylinder.lincoln has attempted to fix the vibrations 3 different times and kept the car approx 7days. Car was certified up to 75k. I am suprised parent company ford runs their business this way.this is my first and will be my last lincoln.

The contact owns a 2005 lincoln ls. The contact stated that the driver's side of the vehicle would sit lower then the passenger's side of the vehicle. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and was told there was nothing wrong with the vehicle. The contact stated that the tires on the driver's side of the vehicle were wearing much faster than the passenger's side. However, the dealer stated another oil leak has surfaced some where else. Updated 11/29/12
2005 lincoln ls will start to skip and sputter especially on incline.engine light does not go on.replaced fuel filter and problem still has not gone away.
The contact owns a 2005 lincoln ls. The contact was driving 30 mph when the check engine and wrench warning lights illuminated. Whenever the lights were illuminated, the vehicle would decelerate and then stall for approximately three seconds. The engine would have to be turned off and then restarted in order for the vehicle to reset itself. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who advised that the emission coil needed to be replaced. The emission coil was replaced however three weeks after the repairs, the vehicle begin exhibiting signs of the same failure. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 60,000 and the current mileage was 90,958.
Power steering was leaking. I called ford company and was told there was nothing they could do. Took it to two ford dealers to get cheapest prices.had to have power steering rod and pump replaced.which cost another 1200.going broke from this car.air conditioner also stopped working but could not afford to have it fixed yet.dealer says they have to take off the whole dashboard to fix. They tried to put add something to the air to cool it but it did not work.

My car would not start at my home.i had my car towed to my car repair shop and was told i need a new fuel injector.i had that replaced.cost was over 1200.
I noticed what i thought was an exhaust leak on the interior of my 2005 ls, so i raised the hood didn't smell anything.i did however notice that their was oil spots in my driveway.i took the car immediately to the repair shop and had the top half of the engine resealed.two days later i started the car and after letting it warm up; i got in and the smell was still there.i took it back and after 4 hours of labor the sniffer alarm sounded on the fuel tank.while searching for a repair the mechanic discovered the ford recall notice 05s29, nhtsa campaign id number : 05v113000.so i went my lincoln dealer and they told me that there was "no recall notice for a leaking fuel tank for the ls."not satisfied i took my repair documentations to a ford dealer, and they stated that there was a recall, but my car was not included.note: this is where i really got ticked off.there is a recall for the problem i have, but because the research was improperly performed i need to pay ford $1600 to replace a tank that would otherwise be free.it's obvious that the research is faulty...

My company leased this 2005 lincoln ls in august 2005 from bob maxey lincoln-mercury in detroit. On tuesday 10/4/2005 i went out to the car in my driveway to drive my children to school. There was a strong smell of gas by the car. I dropped the children off at school, then proceeded to my office. The car sat in the parking lot until noon when i went out to make customer calls. Again, there was a strong smell of gas. I found gas dripping down from the bottom of the gas tank. As i consider this a safety issue, i drove the car to bob maxey lincoln-mercury to find the cause of the leak. I was told that i had hit something with the gas tank, causing a puncture and the subsequent leak. The dealer would not cover the tank replacement under warranty and said it would cost $850.00 to replace.i had to submitto the repair charge as i need the car and it is extremely unsafe to drive a vehicle with a fuel leak. Consequences include loss of gasoline and the real potential of a thermal event, or fire. This could be catastrophic terms of vehicle damage and possible loss of life. I authorized bob maxey lincoln-mercury to replace the fuel tank. Today, 10/5/2005, i did some research in preparation to filing complaints with the bbb and nhtsa. I found a recall notice from ford, #05s29, on the nhtsa web site for 2005 lincoln ls fuel systems. The recall involved fuel tanks with thin wall section in the lower half of the tank that may crack.the data for the recall was supplied by the tank manufacturer to ford as stated in the recall documents available on the nhtsa web site.i think the supplier of the fuel tank and ford motor company did not investigate the potential manufacturer defects leading up to the parts on the recall. I believe i have an example of the early defective side wall issue that the fuel tank supplier did not report to ford. I think ford should expand their investigation of this issue and replace all defective fuel tanks.
The car will suddenly surge or die out while driving.can occur at any time while driving, did it to me multiple times, whether in idle or on the highway going 50+mph. I am trying to get the part replaced from the dealer. The part is on backorder, seemingly there is a large number of these going bad and not enough new ones to go around. The part the dealer is telling me went bad is the throttle body.

While traveling on a divided highway at approximately 35 mph my car abruptly slowed to about 20 mph causing vehicles behind me to brake and/or swerve around me.
Note - ford motor company suggested that i file a complaint with the nhtsa. The vehicle involved is a 2005 ford lincoln ls - v6 - with approximately 79,000 miles.on february 2, 2009 my wife was driving the ls when the emergency (parking) brake became engaged and slowed the car very rapidly in the middle of the highway. The brake would not disengage and she could not move the car.she tried several times to reset the emergency (parking) brake and it did not disengage.she than turned the car off and restarted at which time the emergency (parking) brake was disengaged.i drove the car the next day and had the same problem with the emergency (parking) brake becoming engaged when i was driving on a busy highway causing the car to come to a complete stop very rapidly.my wife was with me and she told me what she had done the previous day to disengage the brake.we took the car to the olathe ford company service department in olathe, kansas.they told us they had a similar situation with another ls the week before and knew how to fix the problem.we had to replace the dual coolant control value to stop the emergency (parking) brake problem.according to the service manager, the defect in the coolant control value caused the emergency (parking) brake to engage because it generated a "higher" frequency to the computer overriding the brake.i filed a concern with the ford motor company.they were concerned and suggested that i file a complaint with nhtsa. My concern is with the emergency (parking) brake engaging for no reason while your driving the vehicle .this causes me concerns for the safety of my family and others.
The contact owns a 2005 lincoln ls.while driving 70 mph, the computer within the vehicle activated the emergency brake.the vehicle is equipped with a brake by wire system.the contact stated that all of the instrument panel lights illuminated and the security alarm sounded.he pulled off the road, shut off, and then restarted the vehicle.he took it to the dealer and they replaced a relay in the vehicle, however, the failure recurred two weeks later.he returned to the dealer, but they did not repair the vehicle a second time.the failure mileage was 8,000 and current mileage was 9,000.updated 12-12-07.the consumer stated the parking brake activated on its own. It could only be released by stopping the vehicle and then turning it off.updated

Pressed on accelerator and car jerked and stalled as red light turned green.the delay and sudden jerk almost causing a rear end collision in the intersection. Transmission has been intermittently surging for the las 2-3 thousand miles. Incredibly scary to drive this vehicle in normal traffic conditions.

Car lost power on turn into traffic, wrench light and check engine lights went on car, car went on "limp home" mode as i entered onto the highway at very low speed.
The transmission shift abruptly and very hard gear shifts at times. I also had the car loose complete power while driving at low speeds. I would press the accelerator but the car would not respond to the throttle input.
This low mileage vehicle (20,300 miles) shifts from park into reverse with a sudden lurch and thud. Also when accelerating in daily driving vehicle pauses and then a hard shift or two with lurch forward. Occurrences are increasing in frequency. No computer codes or warning lights illuminate. Called ford/lincoln customer service and was told that problem was similar to tsb 05612 but build date for vin is 6/2005 so no further assistance offered. Safety is becoming an issue.
Driving at 55 mph the vehicles wrench light came on and it went into a reduced rpm mode, causing the vehicle to lose all power and go from 55 to 10 mph rapidly. Put on the hazard lights and pulled off of the highway. Not wanting to turn the vehicle off i drove slowly to a mechanic where he ran a code check and the codes read p2107 and p2110. Told it could be one of 2 problems, throttle body or pcm. We replaced the throttle body. The car began after about a week to do the same thing about once a week. Turning off the car and restarting seem to fix the problem. About a 3 weeks later the same thing occurred however this time the engine light also appeared and would not clear with a restart. Same codes appeared p2107 and p2110. Next replaced the pcm, this did not fix the problem. The ford dealership ran diagnostics and could not find the problem. This tends be a safety issue that lincoln ford are trying to ignore. Rear end collisions could occur when this occurs. A safety bulletin needs to be released and ford needs to make things right.
The contact owns a 2005 lincoln ls. The contact stated the transmission was slipping. The vehicle was driven to a local mechanic who performed a diagnostic test and stated that the fuel pump and the abs brake sensor were related to the failure. All of the warning lights illuminated and the vehicle was repaired at the contacts expense. The manufacturer was contacted regarding the failure but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 49,837.
2005 lincoln ls erratic transmission shift. Car lunges forward violently..this seems to be an ongoing problem with lincoln ls.
Problems with car stalling after stop (i.e. Not responding easily to gas pedal) and jerking into gear since purchase.problem reported to dealer one year post-purchase with no resolution.car continued to get worse -going from periodic to constant problems with stalling and jerking into gear (from a stop and also from reverse into drive.)at 39,000 miles now we are told a new transmission is needed.despite reporting the problem while the car was under warranty (it is now two weeks out of warranty) neither dealer nor lincoln are responding to the issue.
My lincoln ls 2005 was doing fine than 53000 miles hits that's nothing on vehicles and. My transmission is jumping gears four and five are horrible i cant exceed 55mph ..id understand on a vehicle that has 160000 miles but i mean 53000 give me a financial break. I bought this car thinking nice shape mint condition but never did i realize nor read up that these things give out and that the transmission have had all kinds of difficulties..these need to be recalled instead of 100s of lincoln ls owners to be handed another financial burden..help us out you all make a killing anyhow. Put yourselves in our shoes...
The contact owns a 2005 lincoln ls. The contact was parking on an incline. As he shifted into park and removed his foot form the brake pedal, the vehicle began to independently roll backward. The dealer replaced the transmission. Within 300 miles, the failure recurred. The failure and current mileages were approximately 74,000.
I have continued to have transmission problems with my lincoln ls since i purchased the vehicle brand new.now it is in the shop officially for what appears to be an expensive bill in tough times.i found that the problem is consistent with the lincoln ls owners.this should qualify for some type of recall.i do not drive at erratic speeds that would wear the transmission.especially when it was brand new.please do something, lincoln owners support american automotive company's and this is the result.make good on american products!!!
Had just come off freeway and parked. Noticed that climate control was blowing hot air (excessively). Turning the control to cooler settings just increased the blast of heat. The dual setting was not working either as most air was being forced to the driver side. The strange thing was that shortly after that, the parking brake service light came on! .after stopping and turning the ignition off and on a couple of times and engaging and disengaging the parking brake a couple of times also, the parking brake service light has turned off. It came back on once or twice, repeated the steps, and 'so far' has not come back on. But the heating/cooling, or lack of cooling is still a problem even through all controls seem to be operating properly, including the passenger side temp control is operational but does nothing as far as heating and cooling.at first it seemed coincidental for both the climate issues and the parking brake issues to occur at the same time. But after a search of the web turned up other people reporting similar 'coincidences' of the same combination of problems and then finding two complains on this site that also report the same basic information, i no longer believe that they are coincidental but may in fact related. In both complaints, 10305448 and 14499467, they talk of the braking brake service light and or issues with the brake actually engaging with one also mentioning the blasting of only heat out of the ducts. I find it very interesting and possibly worthy of notice as the dealers in both complaints relate the cause to interferences between the components, the parking brake electronics and the dual coolant control valve.
The contact owns a 2005 lincoln ls.the contact stated while driving approximately 40 mph, the parking brake, abs, and traction warning lights illuminated.the vehicle was merged to the side of the road, where it was turn off and restarted however, the failure persisted and recurred multiple times.the vehicle was not taken to a mechanic to be diagnosed.the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 175,000.

I am having a problem with my 2005 lincoln ls v8 with advance trac. While driving the vehicle the abs system engages under normal dry driving conditions and stays on for over one minute. You can hear something like a motor and clicking leading up to the incident and this happens even when you are not on the brakes. When you do go to apply the brakes it is like you are on ice. The check advance trac light appears and the yellow trac control button flashes and than stays on solid. Even when the car has come to a complete stop and than you proceed to drive it will do it again until the car is shut off and restarted. The system "acts" up out of the blue and you really never know when the brakes are going to fail. The vehicle has been taken to the dealer many times and they were able to see all the lights on the dash, but are not able to fix the problem. They have pulled codes for the problem but ford only advised them to reprogram the computer. They have done this multiple time and the problem is still not fixed. Ford is giving me the run around and said they are not going to do anything for me. This is a very serious safety concern. The last time it happened i was getting off the highway and i nearly crashed my vehicle. I want to document this and try to find out if this is a widespread problem.
Ball joints, outer tie rod ends and steering section goes bad, doing a lot of popping and creaking.
The contact owns a 2005 lincoln ls. While driving 65 mph, the vehicle felt as if a tire blew out. Afterwards, the steering wheel seized. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer and manufacturer were not notified. The failure mileage was approximately 96,000. The vin was not available.
The failure mileage was unknown, but the current mileage was 100,000. ..updated 11/28/12 the consumer was informed the vehicle had an oil leak in the oil pan. She had it fixed,. However, the dealer stated another oil leak has surfaced some where else. Updated 11/29/12
Ball joints, outer tie rod ends and steering section goes bad, doing a lot of popping and creaking.
The left rear wheel/tire assembly failed to hold air.a local tire merchant said that this is caused by the chrome plating separating from the aluminum alloy wheel.the dealer and lincoln-mercury said that the failure was due to brake dust getting on the outside of the wheel.they claimed that this was not a defect in the product and refused a warranty claim.they were unable to explain how dust on the outside of the wheel could cause the surface inside the tire to fail and leak air until the tire was flat.
Etc engine fail safe - electronic throttle control replaced with oe... Continues to produce an etc engine fail safe and no code(s) specifics for faulty coils (or which coils) (3 bad coils & passenger side valve/spark plug cover gaskets) or possible faulty alternator. Also, climate control device failed 3 times and was replaced 3 times. Cheap thin walled anti-freeze and windshield washer fluid reservoir cracked during extreme cold weather conditions.
Rolled down left passenger window and would not come up.went to repair shop and was told they would have to take off whole door and then replace motor and another component that would range between 300-400. I cannot believe i bought an american car from a well known company and have been sold a horrible car that is falling apart.the car also pulls funny and runs funny when going up hills and sometimes almost feels like it is going to stop when i first start it in the morning.
When i put the truck in park then when iam ready to pull off it stuck in park plus my airbag light wont go out
My 2005 lincoln ls has been going into an etc failsafe mode almost every other day for last four months.dealership has told me it is a faulty accelerator pedal sensor. However, this part was and continues to be on a "national backorder".i have avoided countless crashes due to this failure while merging into traffic.once the etc failure comes on, i lose all accelerator power and merely coast in an attempt to get off highway so i can restart the car.on one particular day this happened 4 times over the course of driving about 15 miles.i am putting the incident date as when i took it to dealership last however this issue is on going.
Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)last night my 2005 lincoln ls had runaway acceleration when i put it into reverse.i couldn't get it stopped until i was out of the driveway and halfway into the street. I almost hit a tree. I know that if i take it into lincoln, they will deny any issue.[xxx]
When car accelerate, the care goes into an etc fail safe mode and shuts down.this almost caused an accident on two occasions.the dealership knows it is an issue, but says i will have to fix.
On july 4, 2009 while traveling on a major highway driving at the speed of 60 mph the acceleration stopped functioning without warning. This was the first time this issue ever occurred. To correct the problem the car was taken to a ford dealership to repair the problem. I was told that the throttle body needed to be replaced. The throttle body was replaced and while leaving the dealership on another major highway the issue happened 3 times after the repair was said to be completed. Both times the issue occurred my family and i was in a near fatal accident. The car was returned to the dealership on that same day. After a day of diagnostic the dealership could not explain to me what was causing the problem. Finally, the dealership called and stated that a radio frequency was causing the problem. I was also told that the there was a problem with the coils. At this point i don't think the certified technicians or the dealership know how to repair the issue. I do know that the service manager want me to keep paying money until they stumble upon a solution. I refuse to put my family on the highway a third time with this ongoing issue. Maybe next time we won't be so lucky.
The contact owns a 2005 lincoln ls. The contact stated that while driving, the contact decelerated and the vehicle erroneously accelerated. The contact shifted into park to stop the vehicle. The contact also stated that the failure recurred several times and eventually became permanent. The vehicle is currently being diagnosed by the dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.
I was completely stopped at a red light with my foot on the brake. The car suddenly lurched on it's own. My reaction was to apply both feet to the brake with force. In spite of that, the vehicle continued to crawl and it rolled into the intersection. I was hit by an oncoming car. My car was totaled.
The contact owns a 2005 lincoln ls. The contact was driving 15 mph and crashed into another vehicle due to the lack of visibility between the passenger's side window and the windshield. The contact stated that the interior designs width was too large and caused him not to notice the other vehicle. The contact stated that he sustained minor lacerations to the head from the crash. A police report was not filed.the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the incident. The failure mileage was 115,000.

Have a 2005 lincoln ls.. The chrome plating is separating from the rims.this is breaking the seal causing air leaks and changing of flat tires..have no confidence that the tires will stay inflated..
Ball joints, outer tie rod ends and steering section goes bad, doing a lot of popping and creaking.

Wheels were found to be delaminating and separating at the base material level. All four wheels . One tire had the seal bead completely missing . Reported to lincoln / ford same date ....theyreported that this was not a quality problem and out of warranty . Clearly this is a safety issue as it will allow the tire to come off the wheel and is an inherent defect in the manufacturing process.
I have a repeated problem where excessive corrosion around the wheel rim causes a loss of tire pressure. I have to repeatedly have a mechanic grind and reseal the wheel rim. Bead sealer alone is ineffective due to the level of corrosion. I can lose 15 -20 lbs of pressure in an hour when this occurs. I have had two tires that have been damaged by a rapid loss of pressure. I am concerned to take the car on longer trips because i have to repeatedly check the tire pressure.
2005 ls purchased new 09/05. Had aftermarket wheels and tires replace for a better look. On 09/06, a year later, had to have wheel stud replaced. Dealership billed me stating not under warranty because had wheels & tires replaced. Just yesterday 11/12/06, same incident occurred again. Only two studs have to be replaced this time.
2 lugs on right rear wheel broke.remaining lugs were loose.this happened at 70 mph with 2005 lincoln ls.total mileage on vehicle at time of incident was 1,850 miles.
