Vehicle runs very rough. Will not accelerate over 2800 rpm and shakes badly. Check engine light is flashing. Checked codes p0304 and p0306. Chop states it is faulty ignition coils.

Recall 2004 lincoln ls had ignition coilplm and happen again , throttlebody repair, traction controls, and i knew it will happen again ignition due not replace all new one when i buy from chevy blossom, fordcaptio citywant me to pay for diagnosis test machine to check what wrong , it was fine before worst oddwarning light on traction control, it is not dependable car for me.

I should have done my homework prior to purchasing this car used.2 months after purchase, car started shaking, and jumping, went into limp home mode.mechanic unable to repair, but replaced coils and car ran "ok" for about 2 weeks and now does exact same thing times 100.car starts, idles at about 200 rpms, shakes, pops, jumps and then dies.mechanic said he has no idea what to do except replace coils again and he not even sure if that will fix the car since that is what the code on the computer told him to do in the 1st place.i have a used car that i have made 2 payments on and is now a beautiful, luxurious pile of scrap metal stuck in a parking lot where it last died.from what all i have read, there is nothing that can be done with this car and even ford doesn't know how to fix it.this will be my last ford product.

Driving down the side street and my car goes into limp mode. Reads etc .start up will move about 1/4 of the block and does it again. Had to keep turning it off and on to get home.once stop in the middle of the intersection. From what i have seen this is not unusual for ls. This is a safety concern. Have not got my car fix because it is very expensive to fix.

The car loses power and goes into fail safe mode, at 65 and lots of traffic getting over is not safe! i've spent thousands on new coils, computer, gas pedal, you name it but ford does not know how to fix it!

2004 lincoln ls v8 throttle body failures result in reduced rpm until the car is restarted. On occasion car will stall. Safety issue especially on the high way. Internet search shows known problem with 2003-2004 throttle position sensor. Search also results in vehicles 2003-2006 exhibit this failure. Dealer trying to procure new throttle body but on national backorder...only one company in us fabricates. Approximately $900 part per dealer (contact info available upon request). Brandnew battery in car. Come out to start car. Battery is dead.my mechanic has car for three days.he tried to find a short.he instructed me to make sure all doors are completely closed and lights are all out. This was after multiple dead batteries.i made sure of all the above and still came out to deadbatteries.i manually turn off the lights as i came out to them being on after i had watched them dim andgo out.i replaced the new battery with another new battery and i am still having problems.

The very first time my 2004 lincoln ls broke down on me was when i stopped for gas in february 2006 and it had approximately 12,000 miles on it. After getting gas i was unable to get my car started. The engine would turn over, but would not start. I made sure the gas cap was on properly. I tried several times to get the car started with no avail. The car was towed to a local dealership where i was informed that a pvc hose came lose and that's why the car wouldn't start. The second time i had problems with my 2004 lincoln ls with approximately 16,700 miles on it, was on saturday, july 1st, 2006. I was on my way home from running errands. I was approximately 9 blocks away from home going about 30 miles per hour when the lincoln completely shut down on me. I coasted over to the side of the road. At the side of the road, i attempted to start the car and the car was completely dead, i go no response at all from the car. I called my husband and asked for him to call a tow truck that the car would not start. Approximately 30 minutes later my husband arrived on scene and attempted to start the car and the car started at which time we called an cancelled the tow truck. On monday, we took the car back to the dealership where we purchased it, and let the service writer know what had happened. We explained to him that this was the second time that we had problems with the lincoln not starting. We told him that when this happened the first time, that the dealership that we had the car towed to claimed that is was because of the pvc hose that had came off, he told us that would not have caused the car not to start. As of thursday, july 6th, we were informed by the dealership that they performed a diagnostic on the car and were unable to diagnose the problem. I am concerned for my safety and i do not want to drive the vehicle. At 25-30 miles per hour it was difficult enough to try and get the car to the side of the road when the car had lost all power.

The contact owns a 2004 lincoln ls.while driving at an unknown speed, the emergency light illuminated on the instrument panel.in addition, the air conditioner blows hot air from the driver's side vents and cold air from the passenger side vents.the contact stated that these two failures were related to one another.the dealer stated that it would cost $100 to replace the part and $600 for labor.the contact does not want to pay for the repair.the dealer stated that there were no recalls.the failure mileage was 56,000.

I am currently experiencing the problem and the ford dealership cannot determine how to fix it.while driving, the car will stall.once i coast to the side of the road, i turn it off and re-crank it. It will crank and then i can go again.it continues to stall while driving.the dealership has just replaced the throttle body and that did not fix the problem.they have ordered another part to try that has something to do with the pedal (pcm).they have no idea how to fix.

My 2004 lincoln ls goes into "etc engine failsafe mode" which doesn't allow the car to accelerate anymore and causes the car to slowly slow down. This happens all the time on my car. Probably once every three miles i drive on average but it happens most when the car is accelerating. I have almost been in numerous accidents because of this problem. I have replaced ignition coils and the throttle body and nothing seems to help. I am scared this car is going to get me killed the next time i merge onto the freeway. I now don't drive the car because it is just simply not safe for me or the other drivers on the road.

Going from a stop or accelerating on the high way the car will throw a etc check engine light and wont move over 3-4 miles per hour. Then goes into a very rough idle, until one turns off the car and restarts then drives fine for a few mins the goes right back into the etc engine fail mode.... Very dangers if merging onto traffic. Almost been hit several times cause of the problem.

I have a 2004 lincoln ls that started to run rough so i replaced the air filter. This did not help so next i replaced the spark plugs. This did not help.the things that i have done up to this point started because my car started missing and running rough however i have found out that it was just the beginning of a bigger problem in that the car was and is pumping gas into the engine and air intake to the point that it is coming out of the exhaust system in an amount that causes a steady stream and it pools under the car. The intake fills with fuel to the point that the air filter gets soaked in gas and i have to take it off and dump it out.this has been going on for 3 weeks now and i am afraid to drive it.the car has fuel injectors??? the company and the dealer have told me to bring it to them and they will fix it however i will have to pay for it.everything on the car is controlled my computers even the gas flow and pedal that controls how fast i go.to me that is wrong.

The contact owns a 2004 lincoln ls.the contact attempted to start the vehicle and realized that the battery was dead.the vehicle had to be jump started.when the engine is shut off for 24-36 hours, the battery dies.the contact spoke with the dealer and they replaced the battery twice, but the failure still continued.the current mileage was 36,500 and failure mileage was 36,400.

The horn on my car does not blow at times.the dealer said to simply push harder.dealer checked another similar car on the lot and said it was the same.when the horn is neededin traffic situations you don't have time to think "push the horn harder".my car is new and this should not be a problem.

Normal clear weather driving down busy street when care suddenly slowed down almost resulting in a collision with vehicles behind me. The engine stopped , i restarted with very limited drivability the etc failsafe mode kicked in for no apparent reason this issue must be addressed before someone is seriously injured.

I was driving to work early in the morning with my child in the back seat. While getting off the freeway (thank god) my 2004 lincoln ls went into "etc engine failsafe mode". I could not accelerate or drive over 20. At this point, i had to pull over because i was in traffic and i did not want to get hit. Once i pulled over, i turned the car off for about 5 mins and then turned it back on. Starting driving out of the parking lot and once i got to the main road, the error message came on again. Could not accelerate over 20 again. At this point, i did 20 all the way to the sitters house to drop off my daughter and tried to drive my car to the dealership. I have been having issue on top of issue with this 2004 lincoln ls and by the reviews looks like i am not the only one. I goggled the error message and i find nothing but angry customers who have similar lincolns. Someone needs to get to the bottom of this and have the company recall this car or pay for labor and parts for everyone. This is a inconvenience to everyone who owns a lincoln and having these problems.

I have had my 2004 lincoln ls in the shop at my local ford dealership on numerous occasions. Starting at around 80,000 miles on it, i had a variety of problems on it which cost me several thousand dollars. But most recently and the biggest problem that i have now is with it running hot. As a matter of fact, this is my 5th time taken to the shop for this same problem.they replaced my thermostat for $200, next trip they replaced my coolant reservoir $200, 3rd trip they replaced an 0 ring $310 and now it's in there right now which the same problem.i have talked to the guys in the shop and they tell me they have seen a ton of problems with these ls's and have also talked to several people around town that have had bad experiences and problems with these ls's also. Which leads me to believe that there is probably a ton of other complaints out there as well.i believe these cars are poorly built and for the money that they cost, they should be alot more dependable than this. Us lincoln owners need some help with getting some recalls done on alot of these problems. Ford made a ton of money on these cars when they were sold. Mine cost $45,900 new and this is ridiculous.

Overflow tank has a crack which causes antifreeze to leak out and overheat the vehicle.

(1) driving on a two lane curvy mountainous road passing a logging truck.(2) car engine failed resulting in no power, no stearing control and no brakes.there was no prior warning such as lights or messages on the instrument console. While shifting gears the vehicle jerked and vibrated uncontrollably. The driver was able to maintain control of the vehicle and pulled over. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection.however, mechanic could not duplicate the problem at this time.blemish in rear leater seats.engine stalls out and occasions surges/hesitates.very hard 1-2 shift and transmission hunts 4-5 shift.no problem found.transmission was upgraded for 2004 ls to syncro type, which accounts for a crisp 1-2 shift.under load going up hills vehicle will buck/loses power on acceleration.powertrain control module (pcm) upgraded.right side visor inoperative and replaced.left front sill panel popped off.sill panel reattached.cigarette lighter inoperative and replaced.when steping on gas vehicle hesitates then takes off.no problem found.traction control and abs lamps were on.left front abs sensor replaced.

Stalling, jerking surges. Three times the car just came to an abrupt stop. Had to have it towed. My 77 year old mother was left terrified. Overheated jerks into gear. Ford replaced engine coil, but said they could not replace all at once we would have to continue to break down in order to fix each coil. The car always jerks and surges. The results are that we can not go on the freeway for fear of breaking down. No long trips etc.

Have not got my car fix because it is very expensive to fix.

2004 lincoln ls v8 throttle body failures result in reduced rpm until the car is restarted. On occasion car will stall. Safety issue especially on the high way. Throttle body failure on 2004 lincoln ls (v8). Engine cuts out intermittently and goes to "etc engine failsafe mode", reducing maximum engine speeds to 10-15 miles per hour. Occasional stalls at full speed have also occurred, twice during turns at intersections. Replacement is necessary per ford / lincoln dealer.

Hi. I bought this car and i kept smelling gas very bad. To the point the whole house smelt and when i park the car i can smell it. I figured there had to be a problem but could not find a leak. I decided to look online and found lincoln had a recall for defective gas tanks which has the symptoms i'm encountering. Its a high safety issue which can start a fire and or have health issues with me and the kids. Well turns out my car with that vin did not have a recall even though there was a recall for same year and make but not mine for some reason. It is obvious that my vehicle needed to be recalled to fix it. Im in desperate need to have it repaired and dont know what to do. I dont have the funds to fix there mistake. Please help in any way you can.thank you,[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

2004 lincoln ls.this is the third time that i have had problems with the acceleration.when you push on the gas petal the tool light comes on and the speed that i can drive is around 30 miles per hour.i can not drive the care on the highway.i have changed the ignition coils and now i have been told that it is the throttle body.i have been having this problem for about 4 years on and off.

Lincoln ls 2004 - throttle body failure - engine fail safe mode - no parts available nationwide from october 2009 until present date march 4, 2010 - unsafe to drive and car remains at dealership with no date from ford for replacement as apparently they are trying to re-engineer and fix whatever is the problem.after looking on internet this is apparently a problem that is running throughout the entire ford line. It seems like this is in complete contrast to the problem that toyota is having in that without warning the engine shuts down to 20 to 30 miles per hour leaving you vulnerable on the highway and unable to warn anyone driving behind you that you have a problem that you have no control over throttle.many owners report cars jump forward or reverse without warning.

I have been have been made aware of a issue with my lincoln ls sedan 2004 v8 with the failure of the coils. There has been an extended warranty by lincoln ford pertaining to the recall or damage parts on my model.the warranty was extended for 10 years or 100,000 miles for this problem. The issue is that with the coils failing it affects the throttle body in every instance with the coils failing. I believe lincoln/ford should be including this part for warranty repair as it comes hand in hand in the problems with coils failing and putting the vehicle in safe mode. There are many people with the same problems of coils failing and then the throttle body failing thereafter. I would that this problem that now has arrived for the lincoln ls sedans 2004 and other years be resolved and not creating a financial bind to try to repair the throttle body of $900.00 dollars. Please forward any parties that may help me and others solve our continous problems with are cars. Thanks

Driving down road - etc engine failsafe mode light comes on, and car drives terrible and slow. Then, as drive down the road, abs light and check autotrac light come on. Pulled over to wait to for tow truck, as ford place told me the car would eventually shut down on the highway if i kept driving it (i was just trying to drive it to the ford place) problem ended up being throttle body, which was replaced for $1255 parts & labor. After throttle body replaced, rear wheel sensor for abs is bad, and needs to be replaced for $220. I told them to hold off on that, as it was already expensive enough, and they have had my car for 3 days already. This is a safety issue to just come on without warning while driving down the road.also, the car barely moves in this mode. My car is a 2004 lincoln ls with 78,000 miles. This has happened sooner than would be expected, and i wonder if it is a lemon car with all of the issues that just began occurring. I also had the battery replaced a little over a week ago.

Cars stalls while driving at high speed on highway or side street.

My 2004 lincoln ls v6 sedan loses power and stalls. The wrench appears in the window and the engine light comes on.i have taken the vehicle to the dealer several times.once the coils were replaced; most recently i took the car and the dealer was unable to diagnose the problem. This morning i was on the turnpike in high speed traffic and the car lost power, the wrench appeared and the engine light is on.i'm frustrated that a car with only 45k miles and in otherwise good condition can not be driven without fear of causing a major accident.the warranty hasn't covered the problem -- i've taken it to the dealer on numerous occasions -- and i've spent thousands of dollars.what is being done to investigate this office deficiency?

The transmission in these cars go out without warning. They will stop the vehicle from accelerating when driving down the road. You will have to pull over and once you pullover and come to a complete stop it will not let the car engage into gear and move.

The contact owns a 2004 lincoln ls. The contact stated that while attempting to accelerate from a traffic stop, the vehicle would not respond.the rpm reading increased and the vehicle proceeded to lunge forward. The wrench warning icon was illuminated intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis, who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 88,600.

04 ls was purchased brand new in 2004. I have had continual major problems. Beginning in 2004, the solenoid pack was replaced, followed by the following: all 6 coils, a new transmission (2008), heater core (twice), fuel sending unit, oxygen sensor, some hose/gasket (can't remember) and now the ignition coil is bad. I'm sure there is something i have forgotten. My car has never run good for more than 4-6 months at a time and has cost me a lot of money, especially since the warranty is over.

In nov 2008,while driving on a very busy street, i noticed the vehicle shifting very hard and at times causing a harsh jerk.as i attempted to make a left turn on a very busy intersection to return the vehicle home, the vehicle lost all power and the error message "etc engine failsafe mode" displayed on the screen.thankfully the car slowly coasted across the 3-lane intersection without causing an accident. I had the vehicle towed to the lincoln dealership and they stated that the throttle body need to be replaced.the throttle body was replaced ($761.00) only to have the same issue happen 2 months later in jan 2009.when i turned the ignition on to start the vehicle the engine gave off a vehicle loud noise, the vehicle immediately lost power, and the "etc engine failsafe mode"error message was displayed again.took the vehicle back to the same lincoln dealership and this time they stated that the solenoid body in the transmission needs to be replaced for $1150.00.upon asking why would i get the some error message and the problem is something totally different, the service advisor stated that the error message displayed was a "false code".

The contact owns a 2004 lincoln ls. The contact stated that when depressing the accelerator, the vehicle would hesitate and then jerk abnormally. In addition, the vehicle would proceed with limited power and would exhibit signs of stalling attempts. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times where numerous unknown repairs were made to the vehicle but to no avail. The vin was unavailable. The failure mileage was 20,000 and the current mileage was 80,000.

I have a 2005 ford expedition & 2004 lincoln ls i just replaced the transmission for the expedition @ 53,000 miles it quit on me on the freeway almost causing and accidentand now a month later same thing happened with the lincoln ls i think some one has to get hard on ford lincoln same thing it is not possible that two cars bought @ over $43,000 dollars each are piece of '!@#$% cars i would understand if i had bought an ikea or hyundai i knew what i was getting into, some one has to make ford and lincoln fix these problems with there product maybe that's why they only offer a 27,000 mile warranty and still had my differential changed on the expedition 6 months after purchase with only 3500 miles on the expedition.

While driving in the evening, on a slightly winding, smooth, gravel road at about 30 to 35 mph, temperature about 34 degrees f, the airbag in the passenger seat deployed.there was not any form or type of collision.during the time i have had the car, about 2 years, there has not been any form of collision damage, as far as i know there was not any prior history of any type of collision damage.there was an occupant in the seat, his shoulder felt sore and his hearing was affected at the time.

While traveling at 40 mph on flat, smooth two lane roadway the driver side curtain and side seat airbags deployed striking driver on left shoulder and facial area. There was no side impact or rough road prior to deployment. Driver was able to keep control of vehicle and move to berm. Driver suffered soft tissue trauma to left shoulder, upper arm and face.

The consumer constantly experienced acceleration problems.the vehicle jerked and would not accelerate.this problem occurred while being driven on the highway.the consumer was advised that the problem was the electronic throttle control.when the cruise was on the vehicle would skip, when returning to the center from a left turn the signal would not cut off at times, the engine would race at low speeds and did not accelerate properly, and the engine would go into limp mode.*sc

Dt: contact states while parking the vehicle it accelerated and crashed into a building.the vehicle was towed to a local service dealer, they were going to repair the vehicle. The consumers foot was on the brake pedal when the vehicle accelerated. *sc

Normal clear weather driving down busy street when care suddenly slowed down almost resulting in a collision with vehicles behind me. The engine stopped , i restarted with very limited drivability the etc failsafe mode kicked in for no apparent reason this issue must be addressed before someone is seriously injured.

Intermittently when releasing the accelerator pedal vehicle would not decelerate, it continued to accelerate untilconsumer applied the brakes. Dealer was not notified.

First it started out in july 2007,ac wasn't blowing like it should be replaced control heads. Then my trac control light came on and park brake light was on checked and advised replaced speed sensor. Then check engine light came on found upstream bank 2 02 sensor reading out of spec. Replaced 02 sensor and clear codes. That cost me$1285.51. Which i replaced sensor, spark plugs, coil then in jan 2008 my transmission shift hard into reversechecked and advised found faults in solenoid, valve body, trans filter, repaired clear codes,ok. Replaced drive belt and pulley. That bill was 1318.72. Well then in 08/2008 same thing transmission shifts rough concern cylinder misfire. Check engine light back on. Thank god had a recall from ford on that. Found contamination in both sides replaced affected coils, plugs, and cover which they only replaced 4 of the 8 coils. That would have been 593.18. Then on 08/2008 coolant leak just 3 days after getting it out of the shop had to replace leaking thermostat connector. Haven't had any problems running hot until they worked on it 08/11/2008. The power window was inoperative. The dealer replaced the regulator/motor. Updated 10/22/08.
