One day while sitting in the passenger seat of my 1998 lincoln navigator, with my keys in my pocket, the air conditioner, suspension and overhead instrument panel came on.i turned everything off that i could, however the next morning when i was ready for work, my battery was dead. I went to the ford dealership to replace a relay and the service manager asked me what problems was i having. He said that the problem was linked to a leaking windshield that was in the ford expeditions, pickups and the lincoln navigators. When water leaked it, it would run into the control modules and cause problems, including fire.he recommended that i file an insurance claim to have my windshield repaired first, then bring my car to him and he could fix it for a nominal fee.for a second opinion, i to my vehicle to the lincoln/mercury dealer and told the service manager the story that i received from ford and he said that he had never seen this before and asked me to leave my vehicle with them so they could find out what the problem was.he called the next day and said that he think that i had a bad compressor and compressor relay that he could change for about $800 but said that he didn't know why i still had power to everything even after i turned the switch off.he also said that he had ran water on my vehicle and could find no leak in the windshield.when i got in my vehicle, the battery was down as always so i asked the service manager for a jump start.when i startedit i heard the engine humming through my speakers, the interior lights wouldn't go off and now the airbag light was on. I called him back to the truck to talk about the new problems i acquired. I looked down the side of my dash at the seams above the fuse panel and control modules and there was water....when we went back inside to ask his mechanic if he had seen anything like this before and he said yes he had and said that the best advice he could give me was, "when my vehicle catches on fire, add gas."

I have a 1998 lincoln navigator with 39k miles. Although the vehicle is 8 years old it only has 39k miles which makes it a "new" vehicle by any standards. Since this is the 1st model year, the vehicle was made with inferior threading to the cylinder head. This has caused the spark plug to explode and caused damages to ignition coil, heli coil and intake manifold gasket. The threading in the 1999 model was rectified by lincoln by adding additional threading. This improvement insinuates that lincoln was aware that this was a significant problem.however, they have failed to re-call the 1st year models and this failure has caused me automobile problems as well as significant monetary loss.

Due to a flat tire, i had to pull my navigator over, off of a major highway. When i tried to get my son out of the back right seat, the door would not open due to the child safety lock, locking by itself. I always have to take the lock off manually. I got really scared however, because we could have been plowed into by a big tractor trailer coming up. My son had to jump into the front seat to exit the front. When i told my husband, he said his ford, expedition which is a 1999 model has the same problem. This could have been a serious accident.

Tires malfunctioned ( p245/75 r 16 1095 contitrac - as ).

With no warning while travling at about 45 mph on the rt. 50 exit from 495, the tie rod ball poped out of its socket, causing the left front wheel to swing back forcing my 1998 lincolin navigator to swerve off the road.it was only luck that prevented a serious crash!
