My car is used to drop off and pick up children from school and grocery shopping, and it has never been in an accident; however, one day i had just got in the car and started it up (my adult son was in passenger seat) and the air bag lightcame on my dash and the passenger air bag light shows it is not on.my son weighs almost 200 pounds. We even had him get out of the car and sit back down again, thinking the seat didn't register for some reason, but nothing changed.this is a serious safety issue, as if ever involved in a crash, the airbag will not deploy to protect any passenger sitting in the front seat.also, the dash of my car is cracking and huge spider web cracks have now begun to take over the dash on both passenger and driver side.i keep it garage most of the time so have no idea why this has started happening either.can send photos if they are needed, just let me know.

Dt*:the contact stated while driving various speeds, the airbag light illuminated without warning.the vehicle was inspected by a dealer who was unable to determine the cause of the airbag illumination.the manufacturer was alerted.

Air bag failure light on, air conditioning does not work, broken or cracked board almost everywhere, air conditioning does not work, maintenance light always on despite mechanical overhaul.

Dash on rx 350 is cracking significantly.this cracking is so extreme that my wife was tempted to place a cover over the dash that would interfere with proper inflation of the airbag.i am concerned that other owners will place covers, tape, adhesives, or other measures over the bags and this could lead to an injury.

The contact owns a 2007 lexus rx350. The contact stated that the driver's side air bag warning light flashed on and off constantly. The vehicle was taken to the lexus of glendale (1221 s brand blvd, glendale, ca 91204, (818) 507-1300) where it was diagnosed that the wiring harness under the seat was defective and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 85,000.

The airbag light started flashing.i had it looked at by the lexus dealership.i needed to replace the whole airbag in the driver's seat, and my car had never been in an accident.they said it wasn't safe to drive and the airbag would not deploy if i were in an accident the way it was when i brought it in.

Takata recall. I just purchased a certified used 2007 lexus rx350 and the airbag inflator srs light is illuminated in the dashboard at 102k miles even when a passenger is is seated in the passenger seat. I don't see this model reflected in the recall list but believe it should be researched immediately for safety issues. I had a honda with the same issue that was included under recall.

The contact owns a 2007 lexus rx350. The contact stated that a garbage truck t-boned the driver's side of his vehicle. All of the air bags deployed except the curtain air bags on the driver's side and front passenger side. The driver sustained critical injuries, which required medical treatment. A police report was filed. The insurance company towed the vehicle to a yard and a repair facility for inspection. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 170,000. The consumer stated the driver was air-lifted to a trauma unit. The driver sustained crushed and fractured ribs, broken clavicle, broken scapula, fractured bone in neck and the brain bled on both frontal lobes. The driver's injuries required surgery.

2007 rx 350. Consumer states problems with installation of running boards on vehicle *tgwthe dealer was unable to produce the running boards after eight months of the consumer making calls to them.in july 2007, the consumer began experiencing problems with the hazard lights and sensors. On several instances, the tire light would illuminate.the vehicle was taken to the dealer and they found a nail in one of the tires which caused the hazard sensor to activate. In october 2007, the rear passenger window would not roll up at times. Additionally, the tire hazard sensor also continued to exhibit problems. The dealer was unable to replicate the window malfunction and the tire sensor was reset. In late december 2007, the consumer began experiencing problems with the air bags and sensors. The dealer reset the air bag sensor.shortly thereafter, the consumer continued to experience the same air bag malfunction. Upon inspection of the vehicle, it was determined that the entire air bag system had shut down and was inoperable.over the course of the next seven months, she continued to experience issues with the tire hazard sensorsand was frequently unable to use the automatic seat adjust feature on the driver's side. Passengers also complained that they could not adjust the seat and that the seat belt felt tight and would not extend outward. The dealer sated the seat belt was caught in the passenger seat track, which caused the malfunction of the passenger seat and seat belt. Several months later, the consumer complained of steering problems, but the dealer was unable to find a problem. The consumer stated she continued to have problems with air bag light. In july 2009, the consumer began experiencing problems with the remote lock and door locks. Currently, the passenger door only locks manually.the problems with the passenger seat and seat belt was never corrected. In addition, the rear of the truck was making a rattling noise.

My car has been mostly stationary and kept in my garage for 3 years. This year i experienced the dashboard and ignition area melting and cracking. I feel it may affect the functionality of the airbag. Also, i do not know if there may be some sort of chemical release that is not healthy to me or my passengers. Visibility is also a problem since there is a severe glare from the dash on to my windshield.

I have noticed for sometime while driving with my wife.the airbag light on the panel for the passenger side does not come on. Sometimes it comes on after we have been driving for a while.i figure the airbag will not work if we were in an accident.i have no idea how many cars could be effected with this issue.

After taking my wife to work on a rainy day in her 2007 lexus rx350, i stopped in our driveway, which is on an incline, to work on the windshield wipers to try to set them to the "automatic" mode. Suddenly, the car lurched forward and went through the open garage door, through the garage, through the back wall of the garage, and finally came to a stop close to the back wall of the family room. I tried to stop the car with the brakes, but i could not. I tried three times unsuccessfully. The air bags did not deploy. Luckily , i was not hurt, but the back wall of the garage and items along the back wall were demolished as well as items in the family room.

The covering on my passenger air bag is flaking off and dashboard cracking causing concern of premature deployment.

The driver airbag light is flashing. Take to mechanik reset it is not going away . Its not safe to drive when airbag is not functioning normally

Abs/seatbelt warning light is flashing. Mechanic says 'drivers side airbag squib needs replacing

2007 lexus rx350. Ltr regarding a defect he has in his car that he believes came from the factory; he believes the car is not safe to drive.*njthe consumer stated the vehicle pulled to the right while driving, there were large gaps at the right side body seams, front fenderheadlight and right side door area. The left hinge on the hood was off. The air bag light illuminated

The srs airbag light continues to flash on and off indicating a malfunction in the system. The vehicle was not in any collision to trigger deployment. But the malfunction indicates a problem on the front driver side and or passenger side airbag.

My dashboard is cracked over the passenger airbag. I am the original owner and the car has been in an indoor garage for 10 years. Car has been serviced every 3000 miles for 10 years.

Airbag light in the dashboard blinking. At first, restarting the car will take care of the issue but recently, it just blinks continuously. I bought the car at carmax and car has 90k miles in it, it's a little over 30 days after i purchased at carmax when the airbag light started blinking. For no reason. I was not in any accident. If the light turned on within the 30 day period of purchase, i might have reported to carmax and they will fix it for free (within 30 days of buying the car). I went online and similar happens with other lexus 350 cars. Maybe need a recall?

Tl *- the contact owns a 2007 lexus 350. While driving 40 mph the vehicle was struck on the front driver's side, which caused the vehicle to slide into a telephone pole head on.the front end damage amounted to$22,190.upon impact, the air bags did not deploy.the driver was belted.the vehicle was towed and had been repaired.the driver sustained injuries.the manufacturer statedthat the air bags did not deploy because the contact was belted , and because the impact of the crash was not hard enough. The failure mileage was 10,000, and the current mileage was 10,700. The contact hada police report.

The contact owns a 2007 lexus rx350. While driving 45 mph on a curved ramp when the contact applied the brakes they failed causing her to lose control of the vehicle crashing into a ramp wall and the vehicle rolled over. The drivers side front air bag didn't deploy. The contact received injuries to the face, mouth, and body. The investigator found the right front rotors fractured. Nevada state police report nhp0705110020 was filed. The failure and current mileages were 10,000.

Shortly after buying the vehicle used (one previous owner), upon cold start a loud rattling noise could be heard coming from the engine area for about 30 seconds. Took to a toyota/lexus dealership for routine oil change, vehicle inspection, and asked the technicians to also address the noise. We were told that they couldn't reproduce it, and that it shouldn't be a problem. Driving down the freeway in greater milwaukee, the car stopped functioning. After visiting a local mechanic, then later resorting to a lexus dealership, found that the vvt bolts had fractured. All of this is exactly as outlined in nhtsa campaign 13v395000. Now we have a dead luxury suv due to an engineering problem, but lexus will not provide any resolution to their known problem, even with physical evidence (photos, and failed parts still in hand).

Moisture in headlights causing spread out light beam and possible rust/short circuit in electrical system.

Check engine light came on and vsc off came on while driving. Vehicles vibrate violent shortly after. Was diagnosed by lexus technician that ignition coil #6 has failed.

I have noticed for sometime while driving with my wife.the airbag light on the panel for the passenger side does not come on. Sometimes it comes on after we have been driving for a while.i figure the airbag will not work if we were in an accident.i have no idea how many cars could be effected with this issue.

Our two 2007 lexus rx-350 (and all models 2004-2009) have electromagnetic field near the dashboard of approximately 100 milliguass.this is causing our knees and hand cells to degenerate as lexus has not done adequate job of providing faraday cage or shielding from emf.this reading of 100 milliguass is what you find under high voltage transmission lines and studies have linked 2 to 3 milliguass to childhood leukemia, cancer, headaches or cell deneration.i contacted lexus customer service but they brushed off our safety concern, saying most household appliances produce emf.for reference, 2010 lexus rx-350 or current model es-350s have 15 to 20 milliguass.therefore lexus has technology to shield but has done inadequate job of shielding 2004-2009 lexus rx-350 bu issuing a recall.we are very concerned about this health and safety issue and need help from nhtsa as you are the only entity that cares.

The car completely halted while driving on a city road. The steering locked and the car completely stopped in the middle of the road. The manufacturer inspected the car. During inspection they found a/c compressor locked up causing vehicle to stall under load. Once the a/c system is activated, vehicle will stall out. They also confirmed that this could happen while the vehicle is in motion on a highway going 60 mph and if it did, it would stall the car and lock up the vehicle just like it did in the first incident. It seems completely unreadable to stall a vehicle in motion for some confirm/convenience feature like a/c. I feel this is a fundamental engineering problem with the way the car is designed. I would like to ensure this is declared as an issue with the design of lexus vehicles and there is a trigger to disconnect ac under such circumstances where ac can stall a car in motion.

Idiot/trouble lights all come on intermittently while driving; no apparent affect or impact on operation of vehicle; other than the anxiety created by the sudden appearance of all the dash trouble lights coming on all at once, for no apparent reason. This continues to occur intermittently while the vehicle is moving. After shut down and restarting, the trouble lights return to normal "all-off" status. This has been occurring for the last two (2) years.i have discussed the condition with two different dealers (coconut creek, fl and greenville, sc), but they cannot duplicate the condition.

The passenger side outside mirror exploded sending glass shards and caustic liquid on the side window and painted surface of the door and fender areas. Explosion was spontaneous with no apparent cause, ambient temp 50's, no bird strike, thrown rock or projectile. Explosion was gun-shot loud. Vehicle was being driven at 10mph on neighborhood street. No other moving cars at the time and the mirror did not come in contact with anything. Internet search of exploding mirrors revealed similar complaints from owners of many brands of vehicles. Cause of the explosion has to do with the dimming function in the mirrors of late model vehicles. The exact mechanism can only be guessed. The caustic liquid might, under pressure and electrical charge tend to bend the mirror in some way, and after some time, fail catastrophically. This theory was confirmed by a state inspection officer who has heard of similar problems with late model year side mirrors with dimmer function. Cost of repair from one estimate was $1300 for a new mirror and repainting of the marred surfaces. Lexus has refused our request to reimbursement or even to consider that the mirror could have exploded. I would also add that had there been a passenger seated and the window down, glass shards and caustic liquid would surely have struck the passenger in the face. There is a problem with these mirrors and a recall is clearly in order.

All the dashboard instrument warning lights come on and stay on until the engine/ignition key is turned-off. No apparent mechanical or electrical failure as indicated by all the dash warning lights.the sudden appearance of the entire dash warning light system energizing is unnerving to say the least. This has been an ongoing malfunction that the dealer cannot locate or reproduce. The most recent occurrence was on april 7th and again on april 11th, both while the car was in motion and stayed on until the engine was shutdown. The lights did not come on after a restart. The repeating occurrence renders the warning system totally ineffective, in the event of a real mechanical or electrical failure.

Lost power on highwaymy rx350 (2007) lost power going 65 mph on a highway, and began to slow down quickly. With a truck on one side and another barreling down my behind, i tried to accelerate but the vehicle began to shudder and shake violently! by some miracle, i managed to swerve to the shoulder across 2 lanes, and avoided getting hit by inches! got the vehicle to the lexus dealer and they found out that it was a premature ignition coil failure - the vehicle has only about 42000 mi on it. Asked lexus corporate to: 1) do a full investigation so as to prevent similar life threatening safety failures, and 2) reimburse the cost of repair at a minimumlexus customer service responded with a verbal offer to bear 10% of the cost of repair - and no promise of any investigation! talk about adding insult to injury. We'd undergone a traumatic event, almost losing our lives - my wife had started screaming on the side of the highway and would not get back into the vehicle! i refused, of course, and paid the entire (and substantial) bill myself.i'd like all readers to be aware of the power failure and be especially careful out on the highway. Also be aware that the lexus promise of perfection seems to be mainly lip service nowadays - safety apparently is not in their definition of 'perfection'. To see such a serious incident being treated so trivially was totally at odds with the lexus mission and the lexus promise to its drivers.

I have now had to replace 3 ignition coils.i only have the paperwork for 2 times, but each time the car began to run rough and the engine went off at stops, and the electrical system light went on.the first time this happened, which i think was in 2010, the lexus technician said it was a fluke.the second time (above date), the lexus technician said he was beginning to see a lot of ignition coil failures.this last time (today), the technician said replacing faulty ignition coils is now common, and just a part of maintenance.he also said some people were choosing to replace all 6 of them at once so that they wouldn't be stranded at night or on the road, and to save money.obviously, there's a major problem with lexus rx350 ignition coils.

When driving in snow and ice up hill and turning, the back wheels consistently lose power and my car starts rolling backwards down my driveway.my driveway is steep and when rolling backwards down a right hand turn the car is mostly out of control. There is no way (according to the lexus dealership) to turn off the system that causes this.(new models do have a cut off).started in early dec. And happened most of the winter.

While sitting at a stop at engine idle, the check oil indicator light flashed followed by a short rough idle.the vehicle was pulled over and parked and a phone call made to the local lexus dealer.it was advised to have the vehicle towed to the dealership due to the nature of the warning.the vehicle was towed to the dealer ship.upon inspection by the service department at the lexus dealership, the oil cooler hose had exploded causing a loss of engine oil. At the writing of this note, information was shared that indicated a newer version of the oil cooler hose would need to be installed. Any potential damage to the engine would have to be accessed after the replacement of the hose and clean-up of the under carriage of the vehicle and insulation surrounding the underside of the car was completed.after researching this topic, we are hopeful lexus will share in the expense of this repair since it has been documented that similar failures have occurred.

Driving on the highway my wife noticed a film on the back window as we were headed from onalaska wi to eau claire wiabout 20 miles from eau claire the oil lamp started to flicker then came on solid. We also heard a flapping sound. We were not sure what was going on we stopped at a kwik trip gas station and checked the oil dip stick and noticed no oil. Also checked the back of the car had oil filmpurchased 4 quarts of oil and drove to the nearest quick lube they discovered a serious leak coming from a small hose off the oil filter areai am concerned we may have engine damage.why were we not notified by lexus??thanks.

While driving on highway engine motor oil suddenly leak (massive leak all over the car underneath and back) and produce burning smoke. Did not know this happen(no warning signals at all) and wind blow the smoke back so the driver can't see it. The motor oil was down to nothing after been told by other driver to stop the car. Tow the car to lexus dealer and been told the 'rear main seal and front timing cover seal' broke. The deal did not see the problem(rear main seal broke) before and don't know the cause. Did not see any oil leak underneath the car or any warning light for the past 5 years.

On friday september 29 2017 my wife was driving her 2007 rx 350 and she noticed a line of oil leading to her vehicle as it was backed into a parking space. After checking the oil she noticed the vehicle had lost 4 quarts of oil. Upon investigating further it was observed that the engine lost that amount of oil in just a few miles. When we delivered the vehicle to our repair shop on october 4th we were told that it was the rubber oil line that sprung a leak. They said they have replaced many of these as they are a design flaw from lexus directly. The new part was immediately ordered from lexus and is to be installed when it comes in. After all of this i have a question. If this is such a problem part which has been now altered to eliminate the rubber portion on the part, why would i be charged for this part? this has been a known problem for quite some time. As an owner past and present of 9 (nine) toyota/lexus vehicles i'm very concerned about how something like this seems to be accepted by toyota motor corp as apparently no big deal.had my wife not noticed the leak the engine would've run dry of oil and i'd be looking at a bill for a new engine. Probably $8,000. Does anyone there have an answer other than the quality of parts and engineering at tmc has taken a downward turn.thank you for listening.

The contact owns a 2007 lexus rx350. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to a mechanic for a routine oil change. The contact noticed oil leaking from the vehicle afterward. The vehicle was towed back to the mechanic for inspection where it was determined that the engine oil cooling hose was fracture due to defective material. The vehicle was repaired. The engine cooling hose was repaired with a steel hose. The manufacturer denied assistance with the repair, because the vehicle had exceeded the warranty repair mileage. The failure and current mileage was 139,569.

The contact owns a 2007 lexus rx350. While driving approximately 5 mph, the low oil warning indicator illuminated and the vehicle was no longer operable. The vehicle was towed to the lexus dealer where it was diagnosed that, due to the wrong engine oil cooling hose being installed, the part exploded and the motor needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was approximately 124,000.

Our vehicle has always been serviced at the local lexus dealership and maintained in excellent condition. Without warning, on 3/5/14, as we were exiting the freeway, we smelled a slight burning odor. The oil light then flashed intermittently. We immediately took the vehicle to the lexus dealership. We were informed there was only 1 quart out of 6 quarts of oil remaining. The rubber oil cooler lines had exploded, but we were assured there was no damage to the engine. The cost of repair was $400+. 1 week later, we heard a clicking sound from the engine. The dealership asked if we could make an appointment 5 days later. We insisted it be inspected that day. 3 days later we heard back that the engine had significant damage as a result of the rubber oil cooler lines exploding, and that it would cost $2,800 to diagnose, and between $3,800 to $5,800 to repair. We filed a claim with lexus customer service due to the low miles on the vehicle, even though we were technically out of warranty. The dealership apparently told lexus corporate that the vehicle would actually cost $12,000 to $14,000 to repair. The best lexus corporate offered was reimbursement for the replacement of the rubber oil cooler lines.this is concerning for a number of reasons. Upon doing some research online, these particular oil lines made of steel and rubber have failed for dozens upon dozens of lexus/toyota customers. A very similarly designed rubber oil line for the vvt-i has already been quietly recalled by lexus. Lexus no longer uses these materials for oil lines. We expected our vehicle to last well into 200,000 miles, but this was simply unacceptable. In the end, since we could not pay for the ridiculous repairs, we essentially were forced to trade it in for cash from the lexus dealership. Please make lexus/toyota do a recall on these parts before someone is hurt or killed.

My wife parked the cat in garage around 8 pm 5/31/13.she came inside the house and told there is smell of tar. I went and smelled but did not see anything. I thought she must have driven over asphalt.on 6/1/13 i came back from workout and decided to put the car in driveway found pool of fluid on floor below the front passenger side.moved the car and check what it is, smell like engine oil. I towed the car to pep boys. After examining the car they found oil is leaking underneath of engine and mentioned to me some kind of tubeis leaking.underneath of engine block. They suggested to take to a dealer.i towed the car again to redlands toyota, redlands, ca 92373.after hearing the problem he said it is similar to a camryproblem which was recalled. He mentioned the v6 engine of lexus rx 350 and camry are similar. He checked lexus recall history, it was not recalled on 6/3/13 he called me and informed that vvti oil line have a pinhole causing oil leak. He also reported as a result of oil leak drive belt is all oilyi had to go thru hassel, loss of transportation and mental agony not knowing what happeningi did research and found rubber vvti is prone to be leak (2007-2011) and. Lexus re[laced that piece with metal.i contacted lexus customers service, they will not accept toyota's finding. I had to take it to lexus dealer.what a waste of time, gas, and unnecessary hassel. ... .

The vvti hose on my lexus ruptured which then caused a massive oil leak.

The contact owns a 2007 lexus rx350. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 mph, the contact heard a loud noise coming from the engine and the vehicle suddenly decelerated. The contact discovered an oil leak in the garage. An independent mechanic discovered that the oil supply hose for the variable timing actuator had ruptured. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 65,000.

Check engine light came on and vsc off came on while driving. Vehicles vibrate violent shortly after. Was diagnosed by lexus technician that ignition coil #6 has failed.

When i drive at above 60 mph, there is a rattling sound. I took it to the dealership and they are unable to pinpoint the issue even after removing the roofrack, the roof insulation and tightening all the bolts. I have found numerous postings online but lexus still refuses to let us know the issue. Please help! it is very concerning that a loose part might cause major accident or event death. Oil started spewing from underneath the car while it was in motion on a highway .the car was towed to a local shop and the oil coolant lines (black rubber hoses) were replaced with metal hoses.

I was driving on a country road and noticed a/c was acting odd, then temp gauge went to bottom of dial. I couldn't stop on this road. I was trying to get to granddaughter's house. I stopped at light and couldn't start it. I called aaa and car was transported to lexus dealerwho tested car and said engine failed. There were 122000 miles when tested at dealer. The car has been dealer serviced the entire time. It was serviced at 120,000 and all systems ok. I've had an 80 datsun that lasted 250,000 miles. The dealer said that used engine $8500. I expected much better from lexus. Reading some nhtsa reports there seem to be a rash of oil lines failing. There was no water hose problem according to dealer checking it

Air bag failure light on, air conditioning does not work, broken or cracked board almost everywhere, air conditioning does not work, maintenance light always on despite mechanical overhaul.

Lost engine oil driving 20 minutes to work. Lexus dealer advised there is a common problem with the oil cooler line, there is a campaign within 10 years of first use. They won't replace it unless leaking; otherwise you are allowed to drive until the line blows causing catastrophic engine damage. A $60 part ends up being an engine replacement; nevermind the potential danger of an engine freeze at 65 miles an hour.

1. Wife bought car on august 31, 2016 from dealer in tacoma, wa (with 90,900 miles on it) with a warranty service contract with it. 2. She takes it to a lexus service dealer in washington at 95,377 miles on july 13, 2017 to have the oil and oil filter change (note: oil cooler hose is right by the oil filter). They change the oil and oil filter, and mention other things about the car, but nothing about oil cooler hose.)3. Because warranty service contract is best for people who put a lot of miles on a she drop the warranty service contract in september 2017 about, applied the refund to amount owing on car.4. On june 23, 2018 (at 99850 miles) the (original manufacturer) oil cooler hose leak oil a-lot, in about 1/2 a mile all the oil (6 qtrs +) was out of the engine maybe, she did not notice the leak until 3 + miles of running the car, (no light came on the dash). 5. So read that in march 2010 toyota had their car engines with year 2007 had the dealer replace the oil cool hose (part of the hose was rubber-and was known to leak, the oil cool hose now is all metal) and the car i'm referring here (2007 lexus rx 350) was part of the replacement to. Also notice that the owner of the vehicle at the time had until march 2013 to have it done. And i guess the owner at the time, never had the original oil cooler hose (part rubber) replaced.6. So my question here is does the lexus dealer (on 7/13/2017 who change the oil) have any obligation to inform her that she has a oil cooler hose that is known to leak (original one on car that was part rubber)??7. I have attached the original oil cooler hose picture (that was on the car) to this complaint. Thanks, for your time

2007 lexus rx350. Consumer writes in regards to engine oil cooler pipe and massive oil leak. *ldthe consumer requested to be reimbursed for the repairs made to the vehicle due to the failures being covered under a recall.

I received letter from lexus telling me the engine oil cooler pipe could have leakage, but lexus won't replace it unless it's leaking. I searched the internet and there are many other car owners have had the leak and when it does, the engine might be gone because of no oil left in the reservoir. This could end up in an accident or fire, or at least engine blows up. Lexus also said when this happens, they will only replace the defective pipe, toyota part number: 15767-31020 pipe, oil cooler, thus leaving owners to pay thousands for a new or rebuilt engine.why don't they just replace the defective rubber pipe with their new metal pipe? i am sure they are aware of the problem, it will happen sooner or later.please help!

The contact owns a 2007 lexus rx350. The contact's wife stated that upon accelerating the vehicle after exiting a roundabout, dust began to emit from the exhaust pipe. The contact's wife drove to a gas station and discovered that the engine oil was empty. The contact then refilled the oil but by the next day, the oil had completely leaked out of the vehicle. Due to the failure, the contact had the vehicle towed to lexus of maplewood (3000 us-61, maplewood, mn 55109) where they initially discovered metal shavings in the oil line. The oil line was replaced however, they also discovered that the cam gears in upper engine were defective and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer had been notified of the failure and stated that they would provide a callback. The contact had not received a callback. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 83,000.

2007 lexus rx350.consumer writes in regards to vehicle massive oil leak.on tuesday january 20, 2015, while driving, the consumer noticed the rear windshield wasn't clear.when she activated the windshield cleaner, all it did was smear. She repeated the process three times, with the same results. Then, she noticed a burning smell. Upon proceeding through a traffic light, she heard an engine noise and was loosing acceleration power. The consumer decided to have the vehicle towed. When the tow truck driver pushed the vehicle out of the parking space, there was a huge puddle of oil where the vehicle had been parked. Then she noticed, the entire back, from the top to bottom was covered in oil. That is why the windshield fluidkept smearing .once at the dealer, the consumer showed them the notification she received regarding the oil leak. However, the dealer stated the problem she experienced was not the problem that was covered. It was a different hose which had developed a hole causing the massive oil leak.the oil cooler pipe was replaced.

On my drive to work this am my engine started making a loud noise, i lost almost all of my oil in less than a mile. My oil cooler pipe busted. No warning or anything. Left me stranded on the roadside. If i would have drove it any further it would have costed me an engine. The oil light flashed on and off and my car sounded like a tractor. No warning.

The oil cooling line in my well maintained 2007 rx 350 blew apart without warning, causing all oil to be lost from the engine and catastrophic engine damage totaling thousands of dollars were it to be repaired. This is apparently a very common, well known issue in the 2007 era rx 350 due to lexus' choice to use a rubber cooling line. This occurred with no warning whatsoever.

Car first made a rattling sound, then oil started leaking from the oil cooler, when starting the vehicle this happened

Engine oil was pouring out of my vehicle while i was driving.the engine oil cooler line was leaking.it needed to be replaced and the undercarriage needed to be cleaned. This could have been dangerous if i was not able to immediately get the car to the repair shop.

The contact owns a 2007 lexus rx350. The contact stated that while driving 55 mph, the vehicle started making a loud noise from the engine compartment. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that the vti oil hose had melted and the engine needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 68,000.

As i was driving to work at night i noticed to engine got very loud, i pulled over noticed bluish-white smoke coming from engine, engine oil light finally came on. Got out the car noticed a stream of oil behind the car. My car was still under extended warranty at this time. I immediately turned the car off when i seen the smoke. I left the car there. I contacted the lexus dealer of mt kisco which refused to come and get the car so i had the car towed atmy expense, to their dealer. Received a phone from dealer that daythat the car was fixed, representative would not tell me what was wrong with my car only that it was covered under warranty and was rude! i found out later the next day the oil cooler line leaked out which i found out on this site this has been a problem with the rx350. And they kept telling me the engine was not damaged. Received the car back, engine was not right, now the lower part of the engine had to be replaced! received the car again ,within a week noticed a sound coming from the engine, dealer picked car again and they put in a camshaft! before this incident, i never had a problem with this car, it was the best car i ever had, now, it is a nightmare! at this present time, the car is leaking again!! it looks like oil!

The contact owns a 2007 lexus rx350. While driving 45 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning and was towed to an independent mechanic. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer (metro lexus, 13600 brookpark rd, cleveland, oh 44135) where it was diagnosed that the cooling pipe needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified and opened case number: 1801240854. The failure mileage was 129,827.

Check engine light came on and vsc off came on while driving. This is the second tine in 2 months. Vehicles vibrate violent shortly after. Was diagnosed by qualify technician that ignition coil #6 has failed. This is similar to previous check engine light on problem 2 months ago when ignition coil #4 failed.

I own a 2007 lexus rx350. When starting my car, a grinding sound is heard coming from the engine every 1 out of 7 or 8 times.the performed a diagnostic test, and the dealer advised that the camshaft tower would need replacing. Apparently this is a common problem with the year, make, and model. The failure mileage was 89,000.lexus said they woulc cover parts but not labor, labor is 2/3 of the cost (total estimate $3800).apparently the car is unsafe to drive as is.

The contact owns a 2007 lexus rx350. When starting the vehicle, the engine made an abnormal rattling noise. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the variable valve timing gear needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 13v395000 (engine). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 107,000.

I purchased a used 2007 lexus rx 350 from carmax in september of 2014.the car has been at the lexus dealership 4 times already for rattle in back of car, ignition switch replacement, oxygen sensor replacement and 80,000 mile service.this month (august 2016) the care began to make a rattle just after starting the engine.upon contacting my local lexus dealership, i was told that the sound i am hearing is the vvt gear which will need replacing.the estimate given to me was $4k.what makes this even more interesting is that my husband owns a 2009 toyota highlander.his vehicle makes the exact same noise upon starting the engine.he too was told that he needed the vvt gear replaced for a cost of $6k which was only the labor portion.after reading complaints with the 2007 lexus rx 350 and knowing that lexus issued a recall on certain2008 lexus models for this very issue tells me that a new recall should be made before someone is injured or death occurs.very disappointed in lexus.

The engine in my 2007 lexus rx-350 began making a loud noise and eventually stopped.fortunately, i was able to maintain control and there was no fire, but the result could have been very different had the event happened on the freeway rather than on a surface street since steering and stopping the vehicle was extremely difficult when the engine died.when i stopped, oil was dripping out onto the ground. After taking the vehicle to westside lexus in houston, it was discovered that a rubber hose on the oil pipe sub assembly (part no. Le15707-31030, i believe) had failed, causing the crankcase oil to spray out over the engine andfirewall.thankfully, there was no fire--this time!failure of the hose and loss of the crankcase oil caused a number of catastrophic failures to occur.first, since the camshaft or some other valve train component was seizing up, the timing chain jumped time from one of the sprockets, causing at least two of the intake valves to be struck by the pistons, this necessitated replacement of over $2750 worth of parts under warranty, including the alternator which was apparently directly hit with a spray of oil.i asked that the engine be replaced, but westside lexus refused, saying there would be no reduction in engine longevity due to loss of the engine oil.there was no oil showing on the dipstick when it was checked after the incident, but the service technician, mr. Tam, reported that there was an estimated 2 quarts remaining in the crankcase when he drained it and that he didn't expect "bottom end" damage to the main bearings, crankshaft, and connecting rods.i don't know whether this is true or not, but i am concerned that something like this could happen with catastrophic results. The service manager, mr. Michael lorch, indicated that lexus had experienced similar problems on other vehicles and that the part has been redesigned, but no formal recall has been undertaken.why isn't the hose metal braid instead of rubber?

The contact owns a 2007 lexus rx350. The contact stated that the engine oil was spilling all over the engine and under the bottom of the vehicle. The check engine light was illuminated due to all of the engine oil leaking. There was a rubber hose that was found to be fractured and leaking. The vehicle was towed to thedealer who advised that they would repair the failure but the parts would take nine days to arrive. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vin was unknown. The failure mileage was 71,000.

The oil cooler hose burst without warning, spewing oil all over the road and in our driveway and garage. In addition to a safety hazard, this is an environmental problem. The car is a 2007 lexus rx350. The hose was replaced by the dealer under a "campaign," but no prior notice of the problem was issued.

I have 2007 lexus rx 350, while i was driving the car on september 5, 2010, my a/c light started blinking and then gave me "check air condition" sign. Start to smell gas/oil smell and also saw some smoke from the engine. I pulled over and saw oil leaking by the front passenger tire side. Opened my hook and check for oil level and i was almost out of oil. I figured my oil might be leaking for a while and when i got back home i realized there was some oil in my driveway as well. So i think this problem started a day ago.i added 3 quarts and drove the car back home (about 4 miles). Since i had added additional oil, it had more oil to leak out. Which made my driveway covered with more oil.i have not had any kind of accident on this car and have done my oil change very regularlywhile i was browsing this issue online, i realized there are number of people who have report same problem for same model of lexus on different forms and blogs. It is my request for you to look into this and see if this is manufactures issues. This situation is very hazardous and unsafe for the vehicle to drive. I would appreciate your help on this.

I was driving down the street and my car started making a ticking noise.it got louder and would barely accelerate.it smelled like it was burning and it was smoking.once i got it to the mechanic, he said my oil line burst and i all the oil gushed out.he said he has seen this problem many times before. Lexus said they have not heard of this issue, even though when my mechanic called they had over 200 of these parts in stock!

On april 23, while driving home through my neighborhood thought i heard a knocking noise in my engine.next morning drove about a mile from the house and knocking noise started again.took vehicle to mechanic and after inspection found that most of my oil had leaked out because the oil cooler hose assembly/gasket blew out.towed car to sterling mccall lexus because our mechanic said there was a recall.at sterling they said the recall was for the other side oil cooler hose assembly/gasket which they replaced.so, they wanted to charge me $643 to fix the identical hose parts that were recalled on the other side.towing to sterling $168.towing back to my mechanic $86. - charged double at sterling for towing.our mechanic did work for about half of what sterling wanted.please recall the left and right side oil cooler hoses.they are identical and both will blow out causing major engine damage.i would like to be reimbursed for the work done - please recall!

Lexus rx 350s have defective ignition coil packs. They are failing like bad light bulbs. When one fails the vsc and "check engine" lights come on; drive too far and the engine starts to shake so violently you simply can not drive. Two of the six in my car have failed so far. I am told toyota used the same engine in their '07 avalons with the same results. They need to recall and replace all of them.

The vvti hose (engine oil cooler pipe) on my lexus ruptured while i was driving which then caused a massive oil leak in just a couple of minutes. This was a faulty design by toyota, rubber part was used instead of all one piece metal part. This should have been a recall. My total cost of repair is $367 u.s. Dollars and i am filing a complaint with toyota to get my money back.

This complaint is regarding the vvt-i oil hose on a 2007 lexus rx350. Either the current rubber hose or the "improved" rubber hose with lexus' service campaign (9lh) doesn't address the safety concern about this hose. This hose routes a high pressure flow of hot engine oil outside the engine block. Rubber deteriorates over time and miles and can unexpectedly break or rupture causing engine oil to rapidly drain from the engine. Despite denials by toyota/lexus, this is in fact a safety issue because ruptured oil lines can and have cause accidents and fires when seized engines and/or oil soaked tires and/or brake pads cause loss of vehicle control and/or motorists to become stranded (possibly out of cell phone range). I have contacted lexus to put the correct fix of all metal oil line which it began installing in toyota/lexus vehicles manufactured during april 2008 and lexus refused to do so. I strong urge nhtsa to initiate an investigation on this issue due to the safety concern.

My 2007 rx350 was in for 50k maintenance service. I was informed of the power steering oil leaking. No dropping of oil was noticed on the parking floor at my home. Technician informed that the oil reservoir was almost empty. I was asked to replace the power steering rack. I was told by the lexus technician that about 30% of rx-350 2006 seem to have this issue within 5 years of in service date and toyota/ lexus id not pay any concern for the safety of the owners. I cannot imagine that i am driving on the freeway at highway speeds running without oil in the power steering. Please review and advise all owners of this failure and ensure lexus recalls and fix this issue for all owners.

Driving home from work late at night my car started to make sounds it smelled like rubber burning. My display panel showed no trouble lights were on.i knew i had just had the oil changed the oil light was not on. I am a 61 year old woman on a dark back road with no lights or cars around me i was not stopping. After driving 10 miles finally i was a block from home now the oil light comes on. My husband checked the oil and saw that the oil stick was dry. I called where i had my oil changed and explained and they said to have the car towed to them. Once they checked it out he called and said my oil cooler hose blew apart he said they see this alot in 2007 lexus rx 350 and i should call my dealer. I called the lexus service dealer the service guy said it was under warranty. I asked if my motor was ruined will lexus fix it he said yes toyota would have to eat the cost. I had the car towed to lexus i got a call from the lexus service dept he said it was not under warranty. He said i would have to pay almost 600.00 to have a new hose installed. I went off on him. My car has 75000.00 miles i have owned cars with 115+ miles and never had a oil hose go bad. The scary thing is there is no warning when this hose blows.the dash board panel lights should indicate there is a problem service is needed something! for the hose to blow apart in just a second like it did the hose has a default. Toyota has known about this problem and refuses to do a recall at this time. We need to have a class action law suit. This is so dangerous why is toyota not taking care of this problem they wait until deaths occur.

I purchased my lexus rx 350 dec 2006. I have 35, 500 miles on my car.my car is used for personal usage.my transmission was recently replaced march 2009. My lexus 2007 rx 350 has heavy water condensation in the headlights in the driver side of the vehiclethat is causing my headlights to flicker and shut off. Repeated calls to lexus customer care has not resulted in anything. I took the vehicle to the dealer and got their vehicle inspector to inspect and got a detailed report endorsing my complaint that it is the problem with the lexus headlight design that allows heavy water condensation causing my headlights to blow up.very frustrated with the way lexus people are behaving and this is not what you expect after you buy an expensive vehicle.this problem of theirs is directly putting me and other fellow motorists under risk. *ln

I went to for routine maintenance and they told me i needed some bulbs replaced.i agreed to pay for the bulb replacement.about 2 weeks later, i noticed condensation in the headlight.i went back to and indicated that there had not been a problem with my headlight until after they replaced the bulb.they stated they did not cause this and that "this condensation problem just sometimes happens with the rx's.water leaks into the headlight assembly".since it appears that lexus knows this, they should fix it or have a recall. Stated that it would be "very expensive" to have the light fixed.i was thoroughly annoyed with them, (especially since i believe that they did indeed cause the issue), so i instead went to ).told me that my car was out of warranty, so it would cost $2,200 to fix the light.what?!i asked why it was going to be so ridiculously expensive.they stated because they have to take the entire light housing out and will need to remove part of the bumper to do this and replace some kind of computer chip.now my light is almost burned out from the moisture, so i have no choice but to eventually pay and get it replaced.(i know nothing about cars or i'd try to do it myself, but i don't want to cause any additional issues).since lexus knows about this problem (both lexus service stations stated "this is just something that happens with the rx"), they should create a fix for this, recall it, or at least make the replacement cost less expensive.i have owned 3 lexus vehicles, but because of this issues, this may be my final lexus!extraordinarily annoyed about this!!!information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)

The contact owns a 2007 lexus rx350. The contact stated that the head lights failed. The seal on the head light was damaged and from rain water entering the head light cover. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection where they stated that the head light assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified and stated that they had to make a decision about repairing the vehicle again. The failure mileage was 50,000. The vin was unavailable.

Drivers side headlamp lens develops condensation on the inside of the lens. The amount of condensation is increasing daily and cannot be dried out. This adversely affects the refraction of the headlamp beam which is both dangerous for the driver and oncoming traffic.

I parked my car in a parking spot to do some errands and, before i could put the car in park and turn the car off, the car shot forward and went through some shrubs, across a walkway, and finally ran straight into a brick wall of one of the stores i was going to.several bricks fell off the building and , needless to say, i was as shaken up as the building.since there is a wide walkway between the shrubs and the building, if anyone had been going to or from the store, that person or persons would,in all likelihood, have been killed.there were several witnesses who saw my car pull into the space, come toastop, andthen fly across the shrubs, sidewalk and into the building. My foot never touched the accelerator at the time of the incident and, according to the company that repaired the car, there was no need to adjust/replace the floormat or the accelerator or the brakes.

Moisture in headlights causing spread out light beam and possible rust/short circuit in electrical system.

Headlight fills with condensation dimming lightdealer states this happens and did nothing to help except want to charge 1700$ to replace unit.

The contact owns a 2007 lexus rx350. The contact stated that while washing his vehicle, water managed to get into the light cover. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated that the light assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and they stated that there was nothing wrong with the vehicle. The failure mileage was 50,000 and the current mileage was 55,000. The vin was not available.

The backup lightson thenew 2007 lexus rx350 backup lights areso dim that one cannotsee when backing up.they are lens and do not have bulbs. I took the car to the dealership ,and they said they have had other complaints of the same nature, but that was the way thecar was manufactured. I called lexus customer service, and they said the same thing. This was a safety issue. It was dangerous to drive at night. I didnot let my wife drive alone in this car at night. I have to get out and tell her how to back up. Ak

Vehicle back up lights do not provide adequate lighting to safely back up in an unlighted situation.the condition is worse when snow, rain or fog is in existence and is totally unsafe.

2007 lexus rx 350.consumer writes in regards to defective headlight assembly in vehicle.the consumer stated a class action law suit was filed, in which it alleged that toyota knew or should have known that the headlight assemblies in their vehicles contained numerous distinct and serious latent design and/or manufacturing defects that caused them to be highly prone to condensation or moisture, but continued to fail to do anything about it. The consumer stated the fact of the matter, was defective parts, including defects in the headlamp housing, water and moisture were able to enter the headlight assembly and damage interior components, including damaging the electrical control until. Which has proven to lead to serious safety hazards such as loss of illumination from one or both headlamps at unpredictable intervals, exposing drivers and those who they share the road with to significant and unreasonable danger, which is the exact problem she experienced with her vehicle.

Since purchasing my 2007 rx350 lexus, i have had multiple instances where , upon attempting to accelerate with foot on gas pedal, there is a hesitation, followed by a lurch/and or uncontrolled acceleration. These episodes have only lasted a few seconds, and have seem to remedy by removing foot from gas pedal , or applying pressure to gas pedal. Although, i have not had a situation where the car is "out of control" and have not had any accident, these episodes are scary. I reported this behavior to my lexus dealer within a few weeks of ownership. They tested it and deemed the car safe to drive. It is not my experience that these instances are caused by the pedal getting caught on the carpet, or by a "sticky" pedal as described by the dealership on models currently recalled. I have notified my dealer , again , of the situation in hopes that this will gain wider attention, and toyota will make the repairs needed to remedy the problem. I am personally aware of at least on fatality of someone driving the exact same model as my car. I do not want to wind up like him. Please investigate this situation further.

Lexus rx 350 complaint.i have 2007 rx350 that has` sudden acceleration. I took it to the dealer and they said it was due to fuel injection hose. . there still seems to be occasional acceleration. Why aren't the rx 350's being recalled also.

It got buzzies or whinging noise from fuel pump even my car is 65000 miles that i already brought to dealer. They said no more warranty over 6 years. It made me shame and hurt because lexus said warranty mile by mile. It is not true. What can i do to fix this problem that made people sit rear headache with this noises.

I purchased my lexus rx 350 dec 2006. I have 35, 500 miles on my car.my car is used for personal usage.my transmission was recently replaced march 2009. Now i recently had engine failure one month after transmission failure. To make matters worse, i was informed that my transmission is leaking. This problem was discovered after engine failure and replacement transmission.

Transmission started to slip on my lexus rx 2007 awd while accelerating from 20 mph. Engine revs but the car cannot speed up. Traffic backed up behind me. Fortunately, the incident happened close to our house. I could slowly reach home.i had it towed to the dealership where it was determined that the transmission need to be replaced. I always go to the same dealership for regular maintenance. I have all service records up to date.i had the automatic transmission flush done at 108,000 miles. Since then, i researched several online forums for similar issue pertaining to v6.

Intermittent hesitation of the transmission.put in gear (forward or reverse) and vehicle won't move.rev up engine and it surges-jerks forward or reverse.

The contact owns a 2007 lexus rx350. While driving approximately 25 mph, the gear shift hesitated to switch into third and fourth gear without warning. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 185,000.

Also, when shifted into reverse, the accelerator failed and caused the contact to crash into a tree. The air bags failed to deploy. A police report was filed. The contact sustained a whiplash, but no medical attention was required. The vehicle was towed to a dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made awre of the failure. The failure mileage was 90,000.

I have noticed for sometime while driving with my wife.the airbag light on the panel for the passenger side does not come on. Sometimes it comes on after we have been driving for a while.i figure the airbag will not work if we were in an accident.i have no idea how many cars could be effected with this issue.

My rx350 was in for 60k maintenance service. I was informed of the power steering oil leaking. No dropping of oil was noticed on the parking floor at my home. Technician informed that the oil reservoir was almost empty. I had a platinum warranty that just expired and was asked to replace the power steering rack at my cost of $1800. I was told by the lexus technician that about 30% of rx-350 2006 seem to have this issue within 5 years of in service date and toyota/ lexus idnot pay any concern for the safety of the owners. I cannot imagine that i am driving on the freeway at highway speeds running without oil in the power steering. Please review and advise all owners of this failure and ensure lexus recalls and fix this issue for all owners. This vehicle is now in zionsville of indiana.

During routine car maintenance, i was notified by the toyota technician that the rack and pinion assembly was leaking power steering fluid and needed to be replaced in order to maintain safety operation. The mileage at the time of failure was 86,817. The technician stated that the only fix for this issue was to remove and replace the entire rack and pinion assembly at a cost of $1,700. I believe that this is a design defect and should have been recalled by toyota, given the number of failures i have found reported on the nhtsa website. It appears to be a common problem with other lexus rx350 owners from various years.

Steering became difficult to steer vehicle.no injury or accident occurred, but i was surprised that this went out.

I own a 2007 lexus rx350. I went in for am oi; change. The vehicle failed inspection. The mechanic said that the steering rack and pinion was leaking and that the seals needed to be replaced. There were no repairs completed on the vehicle. The manufacturer was contacted and did not offer a remedy. The failure and current mileage was 80,000. Quoted $1500.00 to $1800.00 repair.

We took our rx350 in for a 60k mile service and was told the power steering rack was leaking and required replacement.since the vehicle is no longer under warranty we had to pay full replacement value.we had no evidence of a leak in our garage and encountered no steering issues prior to the service appointment.this should not be considered normal vehicle wear and tear.since this is a know issue, lexus should do the right thing and compensate anyone who had to pay for this defective part including labor.lexus is known for their dependability and this type of issue should not be passed on to the consumer.the total cost of the repair was approximately $1,200 which is much cheaper than many of the war stories published in-line..

April 11,2017took my car in for an oil change and was told there is a leak in the power steering rack. Cost $1800. No warning.

My rx350 was in for 70k maintenance service. I was informed of the power steering oil leaking. No oil was noticed on the parking garage in our condo .the service technician said i should replace the power steering rack at a cost of $1800.he said the boot was starting to leak but at this point isaid i would not replace but monitor.still evaluating the power steering oil reserve and looking at other options for repair.$1800 is way too much to replace this and based on what others are saying this is happening too often on these vehicles.

The contact owns a 2007 lexus rx350. While the vehicle was undergoing a routine oil change at an unknown local dealer where the contact was informed by the technician that the rack and pinion was leaking power steering fluid and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer informed the contact that the vin was not included in a recall. The approximate failure mileage was 58,000.

I have a 2007 lexus rx350 and when i make a right hand turn, the steering wheel does not come back to center and continues to pull right unless i pull the steering wheel back myself.the first time it happened i was traveling a slow speed and almost drove off the road since it caught me off guard.the problem has continued at various speeds.i brought the car in to my lexus dealer last week and they replaced the steering system and charged me nearly $2000.i have not experienced the issue since lexus replaced the steering rack.the issue sounds identical to a recall i heard about today on their 2009-10 ls 460, ls 460 l and ls 600h l models.

Noticed issue with power steering while turning on my 2007 lexus rx-350. Vehicle inspected by technician and was informed of the power steering failure , oil leak. No dropping of oil was noticed on the parking floor at my home. Technician informed that the oil reservoir was almost empty and the oil was collected in a boot under the steering rack. If the oil dripped on the floor,i couldhave noticed it and fix the issue much earlier.luckily i was not driving on the freeway at highway speeds? running without oil in the power steering? based on my discussion with lexus technician one in every three rx-350 2006 - 2008 seem to have this issue within 5 years of in service date and toyota/ lexus seem to pay no concern for the safety of the owners. Please review and advise all owners of this failure and ensure lexus recalls and fix this issue for all owners. This vehicle is now in toronto / canada.

Leaking fluid and unusual noise in steering components .i took the vehicleto the dealer and had to have steering rack and shaft replaced for a cost of $2,207.00. I asked service representative if this was covered by any type of extended warranty and he said no. I indicated i was a toyota driver since 1970 and said that not only had this never happened to me on a vehicle before, i had never heard of this issue. He told me it was quite common!! as i had bought the vehicle used in naples, florida, i looked up the repair history in the lexus data base and imagine my surprise when i discovered these parts had also been replaced at 52,847 miles. I wrote to lexus usa and got a call stating the standard line that the repair was beyond the 1 year warranty period etc.to toyota motors and its lexus division, i say that you have let a 40 year customer down big time. I never had any major problems with my toyotas and now this when i thought i had up scaled to lexus.i have lost faith in the toyota brand and i say "shame to you lexus".

2012 power steering rack failed. Leaking at the rubber seal boot on right side under vehicle.used a rebuilt part to replace it.2015 december, power steering fluid leaked out of fluid casing all over the ground. I pulled off of the toll rd because of the noise.took it to lexus and diagnosed power steering rack needs to be replaced again because rubber seal boot is leaking again. They have stopped using rebuilt and now use new kit to repair.they want me to pay for half the repair.there are thousands of complaints about this issue with lexus and other toyota vehicles which use the same part. If my car loses all the fluid before i get it repaired, especially if on the freeway there could be a fatal accident. Lexus has taken months to return my calls in order to get this repaired. I finally go a return call from customer service on may 4th. Will not get on the freeway until this is resolved.

My rx350 2007 has only 35,000 miles and the power rack and pinion assembly has been changed once and now the dealer told me it is bad and need to change it only after 3 years after they changed it. No sound or leaks.

I was driving on interstate 95 south when i lost the steering capability in my rx350 lexus vehicle.vehicle had to be towed for repair.was told it was my a/c compressor that failed that caused my water pump to blowup which caused the serpentine belt to break= $2,308. Not sure i believe all this.when i relayed all this information to my lexus dealer they had no comment. 6,000 miles later i had another major problem, oil leaking that my lexus dealer said had to do with the engine. Lexus removed and resealed engine front cover assy and replaced gaskets $2665.56 also at this time lexus replaced engine front oil cooler supply hose assy and gaskets at no charge saying it was under warranty.

The contact owns a 2007 lexus rx350. While driving at approximately 45 mph, the steering wheel was difficult to maneuver when making a right or left turn. The failure recurred several times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the power steering rack leaked and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 98,000.

I bring my lexus for oil change and was told that the water pump was leaking and the rack and pin in the steer wheel is leak cost of total repair at lexus would be $2650

My power steering fluid is leaking and i need to replace the rack and pinion. I only have 56,000 miles on the car. I'm seeing a lot of complaints about this and believe there is a defect. The problem was caught before i lost steering capability.

Power steering rack leaking.this is a problem with all lexus rx models 2007 at least.this should be repaired under manufacturer warranty due to the number of reports for the same problem.

During my annual state vehicle inspection conducted by a lexus dealership, service technicians indicated that one of the boots on the power steering rack had a hole/tear and was leaking power steering fluid, and there was an additional leak from a seal in the power-steering gear assembly. The estimate and final cost to replace the entire rack and pinion system was $1600+, and i found myself at the mercy of the dealership, who said i would "fail" my state inspection if i chose not to have them make this repair. I have since read online where numerous other rx350 and related lexus vehicle owners have experienced the same or similar steering rack failures and seal leaks, and there appears to have been at least 1 lexus recall campaign on a non-rx350 vehicle for this issue. Unfortunately this was not a warranty repair for me, and since many other lexus vehicle owners have documented this same issue (and service technicians are quite familiar with the problem), it would seem that lexus would take the high road and commence a recall campaign for vehicles already on the road with this problem, and would correct or eliminate this problem for future vehicles now that it's a known, documented issue. Unfortunately lexus does not appear willing/able to take the high road on this one.

The rack and pinion is leaking fluid (atf is used for power steering) from the passenger side dust boot indicating a worn out seal at only 70,000 miles. The only fix is to remove and replace the rack and pinion system at a substantial cost. I believe this is a major design defect with this rack and pinion system because i have other vehicles with well over 200 k miles and no problems.

I noticed extensive cracking of my dashboard.i couldn't believe it...it seemed to show up all at once, and i had never had this happen to a vehicle before. My rx has low miles and has never been in any kind of accident. In 45 years we have owned many vehicles, have driven many of them to over 200,000, and none of them have ever had a crack in the dash, much less cracking across the entire dash!in fact my sister in ca has the exact same vehicle, but hers has 225,000 miles, and her dash is perfect!immediately, i suspected a quality issue, and assumed that surely lexus would stand behind their product. Boy was i wrong!i took it into my dealership for an inspection, waited 6 weeks for a reply, and when no response was given, i called back.i was told the vehicle was out of warranty (we aren't talking about a wear-and-tear issue here ...this is a quality issue!).because my husband does the regularly scheduled maintenance, i was told that the decision not to offer assistance was because we had not spent enough money with them!however, that they surely hoped i could get lexus to do something about it, because then they would make money on the repair!can you believe it!like other owners, i am concerned this will affect the integrity of the airbags.there are lots of other similar complaints about cracking and melting dashboards, and in south florida, they are trying to get a class-action suit on the problems.come on lexus, i expected more from you!don't advertise your product as a quality product, when shoddy parts are used in its production.we bought the rx because we wanted a vehicle that would last a long time; we've had 2 toyota avalons we have put over 200,000 miles on. Step up, and stand behind your product!i was quoted a price of $1759.19 to replace the dash!!!

This vehicle has a crack in the dashboard pad. While this one isn't very large, the last lexus rx we had, a 2004 rx 330, had cracks all over the pad.the forum on edmunds.com indicated that there were hundreds of owners of lexus rx and gs models with this complaint, and that lexus refused to repair this obvious manufacturers defect.lexus answered my complaint saying that the certified pre-owned warranty i have doesn't cover dash pads. I'm concerned that the cracks may have an effect on the deployment of airbags. Lexus wouldn't address that issue. Maybe it's time that you made them.

The whole dashboard is cracking.

The dashboard has developed several hairline cracks and in one spot a small part of the dashboard has detached, revealing the padding underneath. If not repaired, the cracks will continue to enlarge, possibly affecting the deployment of the dashboard air bags. I feel that the defective dashboard is a manufacturer's defect and it should be repaired/replaced by lexus, as it is a potential safety problem.

The contact owns a 2007 lexus 350 rx.the contact stated that the passenger side dashboard was cracked from the steering wheel that exposed foam through the interior.the manufacturer was contacted and did not provide a remedy.a local dealer stated that the dashboard needed to be replaced. The dashboard began cracking all around the glove box. The car has been garage kept and should not be cracking due to heat. I researched the problem on the web and found this to be a common issue with the lexus dashboards. I went to both the dealer and lexus corporate office for assistance and the refused any help. The offered to repalce it for $2,500.

My lexus's dashboard is melting and cracking. It's so soft that if i miss the key hole it will dig a hole in the rubber around the ignition.resale value seriously diminished.

The covering on my passenger air bag is flaking off and dashboard cracking causing concern of premature deployment.

The dashboard has developed several hairline cracks and has become severely brittle, for example if you were to just scrape it with your fingernail the material just puttys up like clay.if not repaired, the cracks will continue to enlarge and the dash will literally disintegrate, possibly affecting the deployment of the dashboard air bags. I feel that the defective dashboard is a manufacturer's defect and it should be repaired/replaced by lexus, as it is a potential safety problem!!!!!

The dashboard on this vehicle started to crack in multiple spots before our eyes. The dashboard is now an eyesore.this should not have happened to a lexus and should be replaced by the dealer at no cost to me.reading all the internet information on this, lexus is well aware of this problem and refuses to make good on shabby workmanship and parts to keep customers happy.

Lexus rx350 auto-acceleration.while pulling into a parking spot (at a slow speed) in a parking structure, the engine, without pressure on the gas pedal, suddenly reved up to high speed and accelerated into the wire retaining cabled and wall of the structure.the distanced traveled was less than 10 feet before the car was stopped by the retaining cables and the wall.the front end of the car and the structure were damaged.the impact was severe enough to break 5 of the 7 cables.the airbags did not deploy.

Exterior rear hatch handle covering melted into a sticky goo rendering the handle useless.dealer advises there is a service bulletin out about this occurring only in floridaand that it is not covered under warranty. Remedy is to replace the entire electrical assembly and cover.

Air bag failure light on, air conditioning does not work, broken or cracked board almost everywhere, air conditioning does not work, maintenance light always on despite mechanical overhaul.

I went to get something out of the back of my lexus, which was parked in my garage, and the handle to the rear door latch is "melted".i went to manually open the rear power door and the plastic or rubber that was covering the manual button was melted and sticky.i keep my car in my garage when i'm not running errands or at work.not sure when it "melted" cause i usually use the power door button on my remote to open the rear door.i have read other complaints with the same issue.

My dashboard is terribly cracked and it's very shiny. It's difficult to see when driving on the sun

While driving straight on the roadwith no cars near by and no overpasses nor anything over head, i heard an extremely loud pop.my sun roof shattered into millions of pieces.the sun roof is still in tacked but cracked.i pulled over and inspected the car.the sun roof glass is lifted vertically as though the pressure due to the temperature from the outside and the inside of the car caused this to happen

Lexus 2007 rx350 can suddenly vibrate at a speed of 55 mph or higher. The vibration can unexpectedly start any time, first starting at brake pedal and then the whole vehicle body. The vibration cannot be stopped without pressing the brake pedal a few times. This will create a safety problem and can cause an accident in highway.i took the vehicle to a lexus dealership four times and they failed to identify the cause and fix the problem. I also wrote to the lexus company for help, and the company only suggested to get service at dealership.

The dash started cracking and not from abuse.it is parked in a covered garage when not in use. I've read the same complaints.it is a manufacture defect and i'm afraid it will affect the air bag deployments.the manufacture should take care of this and replace the dash board.

Lexus re[laced that piece with metal.i contacted lexus customers service, they will not accept toyota's finding. I had to take it to lexus dealer.what a waste of time, gas, and unnecessary hassel. ... .

Dashboard has severe cracking all over the entire dashboard, especially over the glove box. I am concerned if the integrity of the airbags might be affected due to this cracking. These cracks are not the result of heat, they are obviously a defect in the part which lexus is not taking responsibility for. Based on research, i am not the only lexus owner experiencing this problem.

Melting of the rubber handle of the rear lift door. The handle is extremely sticky like tar which transfers to your hand when you open the door by hand. Unknown if this is due to electrical problem with the handle or hot weather. Noticed this several years ago while traveling and found the black tar like substance on my hand. This vehicle was parked on the driveway when this problem apparently took place or just over time of being outside. For the date that this happened below i have used the date of purchase for there is no exact date that i discovered this problem. I can only estimate that it has been several years or more.

My dash is in really bad sharpe

While driving on the interstate i noticed something on the back windsheild, upon stopping at the vet to pick up my dog, there was oil all over the back windsheild. The rubber oil hose had developed a leak and within 5 miles i had lost all oil in my vehicle. Which has resulted in having the vehicle towed in for repairs to replace the hoses with the newly designed hoses. Apparently this is an ongoing problem with this model lexus...

Unintended acceleration - the vehicle suddenly accelerated in stop & go rush-hour city traffic striking several cars (6 cars in total) before the vehicle was stopped by striking the oakland police dept building.

At approx. 8:05 am on thursday, december 2nd i was stopped behind a school bus that was picking up children at the intersection (1-2) min wait) i gave the car enough gas to make the right hand turn onto crockers lake blvd.which is only approx. 150-200 ft in length. I estimate the speed was between 10-15 mph when i began braking to make the left hand turn into the citation club apartments when i noticed the vehicle was not slowing.i pressed the brake pedal harder and the car continued to pull against the brakes.as i approached the end of crookers lake blvd i had both feet on the brakes and the car was slowing, however the engine was "screaming" and the tachometer was approaching to "red-line".i managed to make the left hand turn and as the car slowed i shifted it into park to stop it. The engine was screaming so i turned the ignition to off position.i attempted to restart the vehicle and it immediately red-lined again; i immediately turned off the car.updated 03/11/11

Re:2007 lexusrx350.response time from gas pedal action to car responding is slow (about 2-3 sec.)i never know when the car is going to start/stop moving.the start delay is constant.acceleration reduction is also 2-3 sec. Andinfrequent.the most recent prolonged acceleration event is documented in your approximate incident date spaces.if i need to try to get out of another drivers path and step on the gas in order to "move",the rear end squeals and control is sacrificed. Two differentlexus dealers have seemed unconcerned and have not even documented my complaints.

Random acceleration! my rx 350 lexus was returned to the dealer for repair less than a month after i purchased it for random acceleration. I explained that although i am not accelerating my vehicle accelerates rapidly and lunges forward. I have to take my foot of the gas immediately and apply the brake. Sometimes it happens 3/4 times a day and sometimes not for a week, thus the term random. I have brought it in to park place lexus and called numerous times. They drive it a few miles and tell me nothing is wrong. I even pleaded with the owner of park place, chris brunner to keep my car and drive it untilhe experienced the random acceleration, he refused and told me to call lexus headquarters.i did call and was on hold for 38 minutes.lauren shields of lexus also told me nothing could be done.i think mr. Al smith, the vp of customer satisfaction should monitor how good customers and repeat buyers with serious vehicle problems are handled. I am now at 52,000 miles and past warranty, (i think this was their plan- to dance around the problem until my warranty ran out)i worry if i will be able to stop my vehicle the next time this happens.the random acceleration started immediately after purchase and it was prior to any recalls, any tv news casts or newspaper articles.we have 2 highlanders, and this is my 4th lexus, we are good customers and nothing has been done.i think the random acceleration is a problem for many more vehicles than they have recalled!

I drive a 2007 lexus rx 350 which was purchased and i have noticed that periodically it surges forward when my foot is on the brakes.it happens a lot even in slow traffic.i first noticed it when backing out of my driveway a few times.at that time i got so frightened that i had to check if i made a mistake and pressed the brakes instead, but my foot was definitely in the brakes.i travel on an expressway to get to work in the mornings and quite a few times i notice the surge, but usually i am driving slowly.in general i'm not a fast driver.i mentioned it to the servicer of my car, they drive it and indicates that they did not find a problem.it does not happen all the time, only periodically.it is very frightening because it is so unpredictable.

We leased a 2007 lexus rx350 in january 2007.since may of 2009, my wife has been feeling sick each time she was in this car.she has developed progressive worsening symptoms of difficulty of breathing and swallowing with dryness sensation in her throat and chest, throat pain and pain in her chest in the tracheal and both bronchus distribution.we noticed a large amount of white dust came out of the ac/heat vent in october.my wife was seen by a pulmonologist in december, 2009.her symptoms was related to the repeated inhaling of the white dust emitted from the ac/heat vent of the rx350 each time she was in this car.she developed severe permanent injury to her lung from repeated inhaling the white dust.we told this problem to the dealer in december, 11, 2009.dealer replaced the evaporator system in december 18, 2009.but, it was too late.my wife has already suffered permanent injury to her lung.even the evaporator was replaced, there was still some white dust coming out of the vent, just not as much as before the repair.i informed the lexus dealer in englewood, new jersey.the dealer advisor told me just to blow it off.we searched the internet and found out this is not an isolated event.lots of people has/had the same problem with the white dust.some of them (even a three year old child) also developed health problems.lexus admitted the white dust was from the corrosion of the coating material inside the ac/heat vent system.this is a health safety issue.as a physician of myself, i believe lexus has the responsibility to inform the public.lexus knew this problem as early as june of 2007.lexus has already replaced evaporators in many cars in 2007-2008.why lexus did not warn or inform the public at that time?lexus should warn its customers or do a recall for the defective ac/heat vent system. I have a lexus 2007 model rx 350.when driving with the windows up and with the hvac set on recirculation, there will be a pronounced smell of sulfur dioxide within the cabin.this smell can occur when we are driving alone on a highway with no other cars within 20 miles.when i complain to the dealer, all i get is a printout with the official lexus position that the sulfur dioxide smell emanating from the tailpipe is normal.of course that is normal, it is coming from the catalytic converter.what is not normal is that it is penetrating the cabin with all of the windows up.if sulfur dioxide is coming into the aft air ventilation ports, so is carbon monoxide.the dealer refuses to investigate this problem or to escalate the issue up to the manufacturer, toyota, for investigation and correction.according to the service advisors, they are receiving this complaint from a large number of owners, but no one in the dealer's or the manufacturer's organization have grasped the significance of the issue.

While driving down the highway (approximately 60mph), i heard a loud noise & i did not know what it was at first.upon looking up, i saw my closed moonroof shattered & i had tiny shards of glass on my shoulder & on the console below it.i inspected the damage after stopping a little later & there is a clear ridge of separation.this was not from a rock or other object with one primary point of damage.

For the last 3 years our vehicle has been emitting white powder from the interior vents.it is very noticeable as the powder settles all over the dash board and becoming progressively worse each year.we live in florida and only notice this problem during the winter when the heater is used.we are worried of this powder being potentially hazardous to our health as we breath it in.i have heard other owners of lexus rx 350 with similar issues.the dealers fail to acknowledge the defect and potential hazard.
