In april 2014, my mom was contacted by lexus about the melting dashboard issue that has plagued almost 5 million lexus vehicles. She was told she would have to "wait in line" for her customer number to pop up in the system in order to fix the melting dashboard, which has affected her visibility when it is sunny outside as well as her steering mechanism. We do not know if there is damage to the airbags, but with a continuously melting dashboard we can only imagine the damage and danger that lurks underneath. The steering has gotten progressively more difficult as the dash cracks and melts more. There are multiple cracks throughout thedash that have gotten progressively worse and interfere with the integrity of the inside of the car. Soon, the parts attached to the dash may disassemble while she is driving, which can potentially kill other passengers on the road and herself. We reached out to lexus corporate and in march 2016, after multiple attempts to go through the local dealer both here and in north florida, lexus refuses to fix her dashboard and continues to ignore our pleas and demands for attention to this matter. Please refer to attached photos.

Came to a stop with my wheels slightly turned to the left. I turned my car off, and took my key out of the ignition. When i tried to restart my car with the key in the ignition, it would not turn on. I called the dealer in bellevue and they said that it might be just stuck so turn the wheel hard to the left and see if that would relieve the pressure and the key might turn. No luck wiggled and wiggled and all it did was lock my steering in that place so now the wheel would only turn about a inch.i called another dealer in fife and he said about the same thing, keep wiggling it and maybe rock the car, did nothing.i turned the key and pressed hard and must have pushed in the unlock button and down went my windows and my sunroof opened great.now i could not get the windows up or unlock my steering.i called three dealers and they wanted to replace the ignition switch, but i would have to have the car towed in.i called a lock smith an they said to try some lubrication in the ignition.oki used some wd40 and it worked.i could turn the ignition key and up went my windows and my car started.i might check into getting the steering replaced. I will check on the recalls online their seams to be lots of problems.

When depressing the remote or manually opening the rear lift gate sometimes the rear lift gate (door) will start to close automatically and it can only be stopped by pressing the remote or button on lift gate or applying large amount of pressure to hold door open. Twice a person has been in the line of fire and had to jump out of way when placing an item in the rear of the car. On another time the lift gate hit a person in the head when they did not get out of the way fast enough. The lexus dealer has checked the auto closure system and replaced battery in remote and find nothing wrong. The problem still continues once in a while.this is very dangerous and a person could get pinned in the lift gate.

At approximately 4 in afternoon, i had come to a complete stop in front of my townhouse.my foot was still on the brake from stopping (i was just about to put it in park and take out key and unfastened seat belt) when it lurched forward and started to accelerate.i tried to steer and pump the brakes but nothing worked.it was totally out of my control.the car lunged forward going over the side walk and into my front porch, directly hitting my wrought iron bannister.the distance from the parking place to the bannister is about 10 feet.the car acceleration stopped on impact.i immediately called my insurance co and i called the police and filled out a police report.i live across from our community swimming pool.children are constantly walking on sidewalk in front of my house on way to pool.neighbors walk by my house to walk their dogs as well.someone could have easily been injured or killed.i have not driven the car since the event.lexus usa and the dealership will not address the problem with me.i bought the car..used..only 6 months ago.my car was damaged in the front, and my wrought iron bannister was destroyed.my main concern is the fact that the car displayed unintended acceleration and is not safe for anyone to drive.

Backing car out of garage and accelerator automatically increased high speed. I was unable to stop. Car hit garage door and damaged the garage door, wall, front driver side quarter panel, front bumper. Approx $3600 car damage and $1500 garage damage. Fortunate that no other damage or injuries occurred. This never happened before and was very unexpected. I am now afraid that this may happen again under unexpected circumstances with more severe consequences.

Large amount of condensation with water droplets in driver side and passenger side headlight assemblies. Hid bulbs are out. Repair quotes are for $1684.00 per headlight assembly, with additional labor costs of $315.00. According to repair shop this is a common problem with lexus rx 330 2006 models.

This is an ongoing problem with the lexus rx models caused by moisture and condensation forming inside the headlight there has been a lexus tsb regarding this however dealers apparently are free to decide if they rectified it or not. The computer module in the headlight is damaged by the condensation leading to a repair costing almost $3,000 the part alone being $1,900. Mine ultimately failed at about 54800 miles though it was reported to dealer as a condensation when the dealer chose to do nothing about. This is a known issue with the lexus rx so much so it has created a whole sub-market in buying the faulty ones removed by lexus refurbishing and reselling even those are selling for $1,100 if you can even find one.known manufacturing defect, tsb issued by lexus, lexus will not address if failure ultimately occurs at 48,000 miles if at all, headlight fails, consumer safety at risk, repair requires total replacement of headlight, seal fails, ballust computer fails, headlight does not function, no lighting when driving, lexus had complete knowledge of the defect, lexus did not uniformly correct the manufacturing defect to date.

Purchased a certified used rx330 and one week later noticed condensation inside headlight lenses after driving in rain or washing the vehicle that takes several days to clear out causing severe reduced visibility when driving at night. The condensation is an obvious safety problem but the lexus dealer said it is not covered under warranty or any recall. I think lexus should take care of such an important safety concern as lighting the highway ahead.

On the above date noticed headlight out and water in drivers side headlamp, replaced bulb headlamp dry out on its own. On 03/12/2013 brought my lexus to dealership for recall on mat/acceleration problem. Service dept noticed headlight was out and it should be replaced, i advised them of the condensation in headlamp and they stated that to fix problem would cost about 2 thousand dollars i advised them that not to fix problem, and if they could notify lexus corp about possible good will and they stated no, car is out of warranty.

My left front headlight had condensation due to the manufacturer not sealing the light correctly, lexus was aware of this problem and fixed the left one while it was still under warranty. Now my right one has rust inside of it which has blown out one bulb..i contacted lexus corporate who agreed to pay half of the $1800.00 it cost to repair it. In addition to the front lights, now my rear lights actually have bugs inside of them which in turn will cause the bulbs to blow as well. I spoke with a dealership who acknowledged lexus is aware that this model had the problem that is why they no longer make those lights. This is not only a safety hazard, but a manufacturer defect and one that should be recalled. Lexus will do nothing because my warranty has expired. Does someone need to get hurt, hit a deer, child, pedestrian or cause an accident before lexus takes care of an issue that they are very aware of? with the amount of money that lexus charges for their vehicles one would assume that they would rectify this situation..

The contact owns a 2006 lexus rx330.the contact noticed that the brake light switch illuminated on the instrument control panel.the dealer replaced the brake light switch and stated that they have replaced this component numerous times on other identical vehicles of this make and model.the brake light malfunction prevents the driver from signaling intent, which increases the risk of a crash.she filed a complaint with the manufacturer.the failure and current mileages were 71,185. Those focused headlights, often with a blue tint, are dangerous to drivers who can be temporarily blinded by their extreme brightness. The situation is made worse in wet conditions when reflections intensify the problem. Also, drivers who wear eyeglasses (including me), have even more significant problems in regaining vision after being blinded by oncoming vehicle with these focused headlights. Growing use of the headlights by automakers is quickly spreading this dangerous situation. This is not a complaint about my vehicle. I believe the vehicle info provided below is the type that uses these headlights. A number a manufacturers use these headlights now, also bmw, cadillac, infiniti among others.

The contact owns a 2006 lexus rx330. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, he noticed that the front passengers low beam light was not functioning. Upon examining the headlight, the contact noticed that moisture accumulated inside of the headlight housing, disabling the low beam. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing or to be repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 55,000. The vin was unavailable. Note: auto was taken to lexus dealer 9/22/2011- est $ 705.00 for repair parts are on order. Updated 10/18/2011 *ln

Since we purchased this 2006 lexus rx-330. It has been returned to deals 4-5 times for major hesitation problems.. Car is unsafe to drive. Will not accelerate in a safe way.

Transmission has a hard time selecting a gear between 2nd and 3rd. It starts to go into 3rd gear then jumps out for a second and then slams back into 3rd. Usually when lightly accelerating. Very noticeable. I have taken it into the dealer 4 times and was told i may just need a new transmission!! it only has 108,000 miles on it. I have never heard of this problem with a lexus! that and the rear differential was diagnosed as bad as well! it's like the entire drive train is garbage!! very very disappointed with lexus and i hope they will make this right with me. I don't want to be on a trip with my family and it break down on us when i payed for reliability.

We have a 2006 lexus rx330 suv.it has a very significant hesitation when trying to accelerate to change lanes or enter highway etc.we have a 3 year old and we are very scared most of the time driving on the highway with this kind of hesitation of the transmission.i have taken the suv to the lexus dealer and they have told me that this is a normal operation of these suv's.we have no where to go except nhtsa to take action against lexus like recalling these cars before this situation causes the loss of lives.thank you. Child was restrained in carseat using latches. She grabbed the nearby seatbelt while seated in the rear seat drivers's side. She was not using the seatbelt (it was not buckled) because she was in a latched carseat. She managed to wrap the seatbelt around her neck. When i (parent) attempted to free the seatbelt from around her neck it locked and tightened. I was not able to loosen it enough to remove it because it would not "unlock". The more i attempted to loosen it or "unlock" it the tighter it became and i had no choice but to cut the seatbelt from around my child's neck or she would have choked. The seatbelt will have to be replaced.

I was on interstate 5 on may 25, 2009 (memorial day) at the speed of 75-80 mph with my whole family in the car. The car's model is lexus rx330,2006 model. While i was driving on the leftmost lane, my left wheel went a little bit on the rumble strip. I tried to pull my car back on the lane. It is here that the problem started. My steering started to shake and vibrate and the car stopped to accelerate. When all the cars were going at such a high speed there was nothing i could do. I was unable to steer the car as well as accelerate or even brake for quite a while. Then i tried braking many times and could finally park the car in the emergency in the left lane shoulder. After that we tried calling all the numbers given in the lexus handbook but no one picked up the phone to help us. After waiting for half an hour or so, my husband collected all his guts and drove the car to nearest gas station. We check the tires and all the pressures etc. But everything looked fine.

Dt*: the contact stated while applying brake pressure at any speed on various road conditions, there was an increased stopping distance.the vehicle was inspected by a dealer who determined brake fluid had leaked into the brake booster rendering the master cylinder inoperative.after the initial master cylinder replacement, the problem persisted.the vehicle was returned to the dealer who determined the master cylinder needed to be replaced again.the manufacturer was not alerted.

The steering wheel makes a whining noise upon acceleration and when turning the steering wheel in either direction at slow speeds the noise continues.when putting the key in the ignition it makes a buzzing noise.

I was told that the power steering rack assembly was leaking on the right side outer seal and that it needed to be replaced.

I sent my rx330 to dealership for oil change, and was told there was a leak in power rack & pinion assembly, the total cost for replacement is $1800. My car is 2006, only has 61k miles and has been serviced regularly at lexus dealership according to lexus maintenance schedule. This is a result of faulty engineering not abuse since this problem is so prevalent, i googled online, lot of rx330 complained the same problem.

Took vehicle to lexus dealership for routine maintenance and was told steering rack needs to be replaced due to a fluid leak. Over time this could lead to difficulty steering the vehicle. I bought the vehicle used less than a year ago and this leak issue seems to be very common according to various websites.

Went to charles barker lexus in va. Beach, va. For a state inspection for our 2006 rx330 with less than 70k miles and was told they had to fail it for inspection because the boot on the rack and pinion was leaking.the service adviser knowing this is common problem said that there are 3 options.replace it at $1,800.00 or they could but a boot on it (band-aid) and it will pass inspection for $450.00 and last maybe a year or 2 or he can try and get the new parts approved under their good faith program and it will only cost us $780.00 for labor.this is a serious issue and they admit it but will not stand behind their inferior parts unless the consumer pays their outrageous labor costs.this is a complete injustice and the nhtsa needs to make them issue a recall!!! don't wait until a death occurs that can finally be directly linked to this issue.this is serious!

My dashboard on my 2006 lexus rx 330 is literally peeling off, it is cracked everywhere and in some spots the dashboard coating/cover is just not there,it has crumbled and fell off.

Dashboard cracking and falling apart. For a $40,000 + car is is a disgrace and discourages me from ever buying a toyota vehicle again.lexus dealer said $2,500+ to replace. I should not haveto pay for their incompetence and use of inferior materials.especially for a luxury car. The problem would be worse if not for the fact that the car is garaged.

I'm complaining about my dashboard.it's all cracked and i'm afraid the cracks are going to reach the airbag and it's going to pop out. I never seem so many cracks on such a luxury and expensive car.i used to have a ford explorer for 11 yrs and this never happen to it. I know so many people with lexus and toyotas the have this same problems. I thinkthe company should fix it.very frustrated or fix it for cheap.i would of thought these company would use better materials.thank youconcern driver

The whole entire dashboard has cracks in it they started very small but keep growing.

Dashboard has slowly started to melt becoming increasingly smooth, sticky and glary, severely obstructing vision from sun reflection.

While driving at highway speed the left rear quarter window molding came flying off my lexus 2006 rx-330. Made a flapping noise previous to coming off.checked on the web @ clublexus .com and found this to be a problem with a lot of other rx owners. If you are in warranty, no problem, but out of warranty like i am. Problem is that lexus does not sell just the molding, you have to buy the entire window. The molding is on double stick tape onto the window rubber seal. Lexus p/n 62730-48230.

The contact owns a 2006 lexus rx330. The contact stated while driving 45 mph there was a noise that came from the wheel winch that held the spare tire. The wheel well broke, causing the tire to fall to the ground. The dealer was notified of the failure who stated the vehicle was no longer under warranty and provided no assistance. The manufacturer was also notified who stated there were no recalls for the failure and offered no further assistance. The failure mileage was 50,400.

A shift "lag" may be noted when accelerating from speeds of 10 to 20 mph. A software update for the transmission control module has been released which may correct this concern. Software updates are commonly most effective on newer vehicles. Higher mileage vehicles may exhibit a similar symptom caused by a component failure. However, whenever major transmission repairs are performed the transmission software should be checked and updated as necessary.

The dashboard on my lexux rx330 2006 began to crack and melt.some pieces have fallen off and other areas have now begun to separate and split.a local news report here in birmingham alabama reported that this is very common with certain years and models by toyota and lexus.there are several class action lawsuits related to this issue.the news also reported that lexus has issued a 10 year extended warranty on certain modelsand i believe mine is included.i have searched online for an official recall but none can be found.the company may differentiate between recalls and"extended warranties".i will research this further and keep you apprised if i am denied coverage under the so called extended warranty.

Problem with sudden acceleration with 2006 lexus rx330.i had cruise control set at 65mph with my foot off pedal and then the vehicle suddenly accelerated to 90 and going faster in a split second. I hit the brakes and luckily the vehicle slowed down. My whole family was in the car and were all terrified. I called the dealer, lexus of westminster, next day to report the problem.the service technician simply ignored my claim and indifferently told me that he never heard of such problem and bring my car if it happens again in the future.he did not offer to check it out and i stopped using cruise control of that vehicle. It was a lease and car was returned last year.when i heard this news about acceleration problem with toyota vehicle recently, i got concerned about safety of current owner of the vehicle whoever it may be.

Dt*:the contact stated while driving the vehicle hesitated intermittently.the dealer determined it was the way the vehicle was driven and could find no problem.

I have a 2006 lexus rx330 that i'm afraid to use the cruise control on any surface that is not flat and dry.when i come up to a small incline and the speed goes below my cruise speed it all of the sudden picks up speed real quick.it's like if i had just stomped on the gas peddle all the way to the floor.once speed cruise speed is attained it goes back to normal.i have never had a car do this.at times it's scary, that is why i stopped using this feature. This has happened many, many times.the date i put in is the last time i used the cruise control on that vehicle. *dt

On november 9, 2010 i experienced sudden unintended acceleration in my 2006 lexus rx330.i made a u-turn from a parking lot into a parking place in front of a preschool adjacent to the parking lot.my foot was covering the brake as i coasted into the driveway at approx. 5 mph.as soon my front tires crossed the threshold of the driveway, the car surged forward as if the accelerator had been pushed to the floor.because my foot was covering the brake at the time, i was able to stop before hitting a post and the preschool playground fence.i contacted lexus and had the car towed to the dealership because i felt it was not safe to drive.at the dealership, they interviewed me and said they would inspect the car.i was called the following day and told they had "good news", there was nothing wrong with my car.i refused to pick up my car because i felt it was not safe to drive.i asked what my recourse was, and i was given the number for customer relations.i contacted customer relations, and i was told they checked with the dealer and my car is safe and nothing is wrong with it.i asked if they would replace the acceleration system and was told "no".i asked if they would buy back the car, and they responded "that is possible, but it would take 6-8 weeks before they could let me know".i felt that was unacceptable because i am complaining of a safety issue.i was given no other option.i went online and was able to contact a plant manager in the mid-west.he put me in touch with someone who works for the chief quality officer of toyota.she then put me in touch with someone from corporate customer relations.to date, there has been no resolution, and my car remains at the dealership.i am additionally concerned because i bought a certified pre-owned car.under their current system, i cannot be assured that the previous owner of my car did not also experience sua and was told, "there is nothing wrong", so the car got traded in and resold to me.

Of times & no results .2006 to present .service rep never shows up.

Dashboard has slowly started to melt becoming increasingly smooth, sticky and glary, severely obstructing vision from sun reflection.

The sunroof on our lexus rx 330 shattered while we were driving on a highway at 65 mph.it was not hit by a rock or other debris, it shattered for no apparent reason into many small pieces.fortunately we had the sunshade closed, otherwise we would probably have been injured by flying glass.

Dashboard is cracking and falling off.
