They advised me to take car to highland park in illinois dealership. I reported their and they took pictures and told in 2 months the parts will arrive. Now it is over 6 months. I called several times.they says no parts yet. It is a safety concern.contac # mr.teeno tel.#847-432-1900 at high land park, il. Vehicle is operating condition.

In this garage kept vehicle, the dash over the airbag has cracked all the way across, in multiple cracks.given the location over the airbag it is concerning that the integrity of the airbag is in question.

Various hairline cracks have randomly appeared on the dashboard.they range in size from 1" to 6".one crack has appeared along the area that covers the passenger airbag.this could potentially cause the airbag to malfunction or not work as intended, which could be fatal in an accident. The dashboard issue has been discussed on various online lexus forums.

My dash is experiencing cracks in the dash at the air bag location.the dash is falling apart and has several cracks the length of the dash and close to the air bag location. I keep my vehicle maintained and most people would say i am excessive about keeping my vehicle clean and looking show room condition. My dash is also cracking around the radio area. These are small cracks but are still there. I am concerned about the effectiveness of air bags that come from behind the dash to operate. I believe this from direct affects of how the air bags where mounted behind the dash. We all the recalls on airbags i also concerned that my vehicle has a affect or defective air bags. Since the air bags are located behind the dash and are part of the dash panel i feel this should be investigated to ensure that the air bags are not leaking or affecting the dash panel. With so many complaints about cracking dash panels in lexus vehicles which are suppose to be a high quality vehicle i feel it should not be cracking or coming apart and that lexus should replace the dash panel and air bags to ensure safety to driver and front passenger.my vehicle looks show room condition right now and has a little over 100,000 miles on it and has been serviced at our local lexus dealer. The dealer costs are much more than private repair station but being afraid to take these repair center that the dealer will say the warranty is void or that i did something wrong. I love my lexus and it runs just as good as it did the first day i purchased it. My dealer has been helpful and courtesy to me every time i go in for service. Just concerned about the dash and air bags. Thanks for your time and consideration.

My passenger airbag light came on. I took it to the dealer and was told it would be very costly to examine and correct because the passenger seat would have to be removed, also the technician told me that my passenger airbag may not work if i were in a crash.i can't afford the cost to repair.

I took my car into park place lexus in plano to have them fix my air bag. It is not functioning. The light shows that the air bag will not come on. After having the dealer try to fix the air bag first at a cost of $99.00 then a coat of $230.00 it is still not fixed. What can i do to have this faulty part fixed?i do not believe that it is something i should be paying for.

The contact owns a 2010 lexus rx330. The contact stated that the dashboard was fractured near the passenger's side air bag housing. The dashboard fracture expanded throughout the dashboard and caused the front passenger's air bag outline to be visible. The manufacturer informed the contact that the dashboard replacement warranty had expired in 2018. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 70,000. The vin was not available.carfax states that according to the vin number, the vehicle is actually a 2005 lexus rx330 not a 2010.*as\

I struck a car head on going about 30 miles per hour. Air bag did not deploy. I was wearing my shoulder lap belt. I was the driver.

Dashboard started cracking about one year after warranty. It started as a small hairline crack. Its now everywhere. The air bags are in danger of popping out. Here is a forum that explains this and shows pictures. Its a major safety issue in most lexus vehicleshttp://www.clublexus.com/forums/gx-first-generation/603916-my-dashboard-is-cracking-9.html.

The contact owns a 2005 lexus rx330.massive amounts of condensation in the headlamps caused the computer to fail.the computer operates the headlights.the contact called the manufacturer and was informed about the tsb.they also volunteered to pay $1,000 towards the cost of the repair.the current and failure mileages were 65,000.

Periodically the brake, abs, vsc, and low pressure light blinks while driving , as soon as the key is turned off then back on the warning lights disappear. Trouble code scannedc 1249, and c 1223 open circuit in stop light switch or abs control fault error. Oxide grease residue on electrical contact points make the brake light switch susceptible to failure. Toyota lexus had a recall that only covered certain dates while the problem brake light switch failures continued in newer models. Lexus refuses to fix older models saying the problem was fixed after late 2004, which as we all know now is not correct. I would like lexus /toyota to replace my brake light switch at no expense to me since it was a assembly error on their part.

I was parked in a garage on a ramp and left the car in gear (drive) and after exiting the vehicle, it rolled back into another car.the lexus 330 is supposed to prohibit one from removing the keys from the ignition when in gear.my car continues to allow me to remove the key (engine off) while in drive.

Failure of built-in cd changer and radio system leads to failure of heating, air conditioning, and related electrical components.cd changer system on car displayed "error 4" message and would no longer play or function.shortly after, various electrical systems failed (heating, air conditioning, radio, interior lighting).lexus contacted and informed owner of repair costs $1,000.owner appealed to lexus, who offered to provide "some flexibility" of up to a $400 credit for the repair.owner found this unacceptable and had non-lexus third party repair the built-in cd changer, navigation, radio unit for $392.repair solved safety and operation problems.

Also, while the vehicle was at a complete stop, the steering wheel would vibrate uncontrollably. In cold weather, the steering wheel would become difficult to maneuver. The dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failures. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 220,000.

Timing belt broke on the expressway driving 65 mph causing me to loose power and almost cause an accident. The water pump was leaking causing the car to heat up. The timing belt broke and the mechanic said the car had extensive damage to the motor and is not worth fixing.

My 2005 lexus rx 330 with only 39459 mileage was told the water pump is leaks, when i replaced the battery at independent shop. When for a recall (engine crankshaft pulley) done by dealer that couple month ago on mileage 39152, dealer also performed multi point inspection did not spot any water pump leaks. However, i brought car back to dealer to diagnostic, inspected states that for possible coolant leaks - water pump timing belt package cost $1,995.00 for replacement. That is outrageous, i could not believe that the water pump is failing atthe car only has under 40k miles. This is a very serious issue for safety as an engine with failed water pump might be cause a very serious damages and injury when driving.in this case hereby, i'm sending this compliant to nhtsa, i hope odi office would start to investigation for this issue.lexus should make recall for this low quality parts instead of put other peoples life in dangers when driving. To emphasize that i have found out on your website there are same complaints for failed water pump as well. And i believe that there are lots of car owner have same problems just were not aware of where they could make complaints. Thank you so much for your attention in this matter.

My lexus rx330 broke down at the middle of a busy road only at 65k miles.the water pump had a leak, and as a result, there was no coolant and the engine was heating up to a level where i could have fire in the engine.i was not able to drive the vehicle and it had to be towed.later i paid $1100+ to replace the water pump and timing belt.i contacted lexus hq regarding serious quality issues with their vehicle as the water pump and timing belt should last up to 90k miles.lexus refused to help or even acknowledge that this is an issue.i am reaching out to nhtsa and requesting an investigation of this quality problem with lexus vehicle and key engine parts like water pump.toyota/lexus has been using low quality parts to increase profit margin and as a result, the engine is failing at only 65k miles.this is a serious issue for safety as an engine with a failed water pump can heat up and cause fire and fail at the middle of busy intersection or on the highway.will appreciate if you please look into this issue asap and require lexus to do a recall on their water pump for all 2005 rx 330s.

My vehicle is a 2005 lexus rx 330.i purchased it certified pre-owned in 2007.i was coming off the highway and stopped at a light.as i proceeded to take a left hand turn the car started making a loud noise.it was jumping and shifting from side to side. Luckily i was able to control it and pull into a nearby gas station.i couldn't drive it and had it towed to the nearest lexus service center.i was then told that the transfer case on the front differential went.they opened up the case box and metal shavings fell out!i guess there was no transfer case fluid!shouldn't a maintenance required light pop on or a warning? if i had continued on the highway rather than get off the exit, it would have ended badly!the back end of the car completely locked on me.i don't understand why there was no warning light.how am i supposed to know that the transfer case is running out of fluid?the service department said this is not normal.they want to charge me $2700 for the part and $1500 for labor!i ended up having the car towed back to my house until i can figure out what to do.i have a serious issue with the fact that there was no warning and had i been traveling on the highway at a higher rate of speed, i could have flipped the car and ended up in the hospital or dead. I would really like for lexus/toyota to do something about this!

My wife (who is not the primary driver of this vehicle) was entering a perpendicular parking space in front of a business located just off the street. The business was once a house and has now put 3 parking spaces in front of the building just over the sidewalk.the entrance is up a driveway and just beyond the sidewalk and into the parking spaces. As she was going up the driveway and turn slightly to the right to enter a parking space, the car hesitated and then accelerated, she applied the brakes and left a 5 foot skid mark before crashing into the front of the business. The car has done this before especially when turning and applying a little gas, it will hesitate and then suddenly accelerate, but never continuing after applying the brake. We have discussed this previously with the lexus dealer and they say there is no problem with the vehicle and that computers that control the engine and transmission constantly adjust to the primary driver may create this issue, but it is not a problem as far as they are concerned....updated 09/08/15updated 12/3/15

The contact owns a 2005 lexus rx330. The contact stated that while driving 35 mph, the vehicle suddenly stalled. The vehicle would not restart. The vehicle was towed to a local mechanic, who inspected the failure. The mechanic stated that water coolant leaked onto the timing belt and both the water pump and the timing belt would need replacing. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 120,000.

Took my 2005 rx330 in for a recall (crankshaft pulley). I was told the water pump was leaking and should be taken care of along with the timing belt. I was told i would save a couple hundred dollars in labor because of the recall if i had it taken care of right now at a cost of $876.96. Ouch! only 50k miles!at least it didn't happen while i was driving, but come on 50k miles.i hope this isn't an issue among other 05 rx330 owners. Might have the tune of recall. I'm driving a lexus not a hugo..................

The contact owns a 2005 lexus rx330. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign numbers:11v539000 (engine and engine cooling) and 11v112000 (vehicle speed control) however, the parts to do the repairs were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer was contacted at: lexus of west kendall, miami, florida and confirmed that the parts were not available for the recall remedy. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and was not able to confirm when the parts were to become available. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

Takata recall, i called about the recall for the engine coolingand the brakes hydrulic and they say my car is not in the recall but i am having problem with my cooling

The contact owns a 2005 lexus rx330. While driving various speeds with the air conditioner activated, water leaked from the air vents into the front driver and passenger side carpet. As a result, there was moisture build up that caused mold and mildew. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 67,000. The vin was unavailable.

My air vents constantly emit a white powdery substance that collects on the dashboard and within the vents.i have complained to the dealership with concerns of what i am inhaling into my lungs and was told that the calcium coating is coming off of a tube or wire and the calcium then gets blown out of the air vents into the passenger compartment.they also stated that the substance is not harmful if inhaled but i am not sure i believe that.the repair cost would be thousands of dollars because they have to remove my entire dashboard to reach the faulty part.lexus stated they offered to pay 50% of repair/replacement costs and i do not feel that i should pay a penny as i have done nothing to cause the problem.

I purchased a used 2005 rx 330 3 weeks ago (i also purchased what i was told was an extended road hazard coverage). I decided to take my daughter and granddaughter to disney world (a 200 mile trip this weekend. Just as we arrived in orlando my daughter said that she heard a pop (it was not loudas i did not even notice it)and we noticed steam coming from the engine. The suv was towed into lexus of orlando and although on vacation i was left without a car and still have none. To make matters worse, i was called by lexus of orlando and told that i would have to pay $1000 to have my car repaired because allegedly the issue is damage to the a/c compressor caused by a 'road hazard'.the 'road hazard' was a piece of reflector used to separate the lanes. Lexus has refused ot repair under warranty even though iwas sold a 3 month, 3,000 mile everything warranty (in addition to the lexus certified warranty) and the everything warranty has no exclusions was to cover any damage. I spoke to a mechanic who told me that for a road reflector to cause this type of damage, there must be a design flaw in the protections afforded by the grill or otherwise to the a/c radiator area. In researching this issue i noted that others have file identical complaints, including on this site.

The contact owns a 2005 lexus rx330. While the vehicle was stationary, the radiator failed. The contact stated that there was no indication on the instrument panel that the vehicle had overheated. The contact exited the vehicle and noticed coolant leaking from the radiator onto the ground. Crown lexus (1125 south kettering drive, ontario, california 91761, (909) 480-4095) and the manufacturer were made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.

Certified lexus rx 330 developed two separate dash noises within one week after purchase.one of these noise is coming from below the center of the front defrost vent and sounds like a piece of plastic is popping in and out of place.this only occurs when its really cold (below 20 degrees).the other noise is constant and occurs whenever going over a bump.it's coming from the passenger side of the dash by the speaker cover.it sounds like a piece of plastic "clicking" together and is very annoying.the dealer says that the certified warranty does not cover "interior noises".a certified lexus should not have rattles and noises.

The contact owns a 2005 lexus rx330.the contact received a recall notice regarding the floor mat clips and does not want to make the two hour drive to have the repair performed at lexus.the contact would like to take his vehicle to a toyota dealer instead.lexus stated that the work must be done at a lexus dealer.there had been no failure to date.the current mileage was 33,000.updated 01/29/08updated

The contact owns a 2005 lexus rx330. The contact stated that water leaked onto the floorboard and flooded the vehicle. The failure caused mold to grow inside the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the vehicle was operating as designed. The failure recurred. Moisture invades sealed headlamp housing causing lamp(s) to fail. Lexus has redesigned the part. No voluntary recall even though lexus knows this is a defective part. Out of warranty replacement cost is $1650 for one headlamp assembly plus 1hr. Labor. That's nearly $2000 for one headlight!!

Passenger side headlight fixture leaks and low beam light stopped working.

Condensation buildup has formed from the interior of the driver/passenger headlights.this is due to a manufacturer design flaw of the headlight seal which allows water to penetrate the headlight housing.water damage has caused the lowbeam lights to fail.lexus has quoted over $1400 for replacements, and fails to acknowledge their design flaw.impacted visibility while driving will lead to an accident.

Moisture problem in both front headlights of my 2005 lexus rx330. One was replaced2 years ago under warranty the other march 2010 which was covered under the goodwill warranty. Bring your car to lexus for service all the time and you get the little perks.

Condensation in headlamp assembly causing headlight to blow. Headlamp assembly costs $1,900 ea. To replace. Lexus rx330. Vehicle has been off warranty for almost 2 mos. 62,700 miles on vehicle. Lexus customer satisfaction says they are not responsible for repair. Lexus dealership will give us a discount (few hundred dollars). Cannot drive vehicle with no headlights at night. Research shows a number of lexus rx330 headlamp problems. Vehicle cannot be repaired by anyone other than lexus as this is a computer assembly replacement. Rain heavy, condensation builds up inside assembly causing short and blowing out headlight.

Leaking power steering rack assembly. Seems to be a very common problem with these rx330's. Advised i need a new rack & pinion assembly. Lexus needs a recall for this issue, too many complaints! also told need to replace headlight ballist!

The contact owns a 2005 lexus rx330. The contact stated that there was an excessive build-up of condensation in the passenger headlight. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer two years after the contact noticed the failure the vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was then taken to a local repair shop where the mechanic was able to remove the moisture from the headlight. The approximate failure mileage was 40,000 and the current mileage was 44,000.

Condensation in the headlights started early on and is only getting worse on my 2005 rx 330. Also, i have already had to switch the front brake pads out and now have to switch the rear brake pads out as well as they started to squeal and the rotors were already resurfaced before. The car doesn't fully brake until i press down extremely hardon the brakes and even then it slightly rolls forward and then stops. Also, when i attempt to accelerate, there is a delayed acceleration. It takes at least 2 seconds before it actually begins to accelerate and even then it is not a instant acceleration but a slow one.

The right side headlight failed. There is moisture under the glass which shorted out the light. Online i have seen hundreds of complaints about this happening to the same model lexus. The repair for this headlight runs over $1,500. Lexus corporation refuses to take responsibility for an obvious design flaw.

I will add my complaint to previous reporter. I have had to replace the headlamp 2 times due to water in the assembly of the headlamp.the right side headlight failed. There is moisture under the glass which shorted out the light. Online i have seen hundreds of complaints about this happening to the same model lexus. The repair for this headlight runs over $1,500. Lexus corporation refuses to take responsibility for an obvious design flaw. [xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Certified 2005 lexus rx 330 has headlight condensation one week after i brought it home.notified the dealer and they told me that its not covered under the certified warranty.i have the hid headlights that turn with you around corners, which will cost $1800 to replace! from what the dealer told me, they used to honor this defect but there were too many and it got too costly for them! a certified lexus should not have defective headlights.

Drivers side headlamp got water inside the housing causing the hid headlight to short out.housing seems to be fully sealed.

I have a 2005 lexus rx330 in which when raining, headlight condensation occurs.i'm sure as the condensation worsens, the clear lens will start to yellow impairing visibility and ultimately hid lamp failure.whenever it rains or i get a car wash it is most obvious and annoying.lexus of bay ridge replaced only 1 light and now the other one is having the same problem.

2005 lexus rx330. The contact stated that the right side front headlight failed twice in past 18 months due to water condensation in headlight assembly and ecu. 1st time was replaced under warranty. Second failure was after warranty period and lexus corporate stated it was a different issue and refused to replace. Estimate to replace by dealer is $1,600.00.

The contact owns a 2005 lexus rx330. The contact stated that water was entering into the driver side headlight. The dealer was contacted and they advised him that the failure was normal and referred the contact to the owners manual. The headlight eventually failed completely after nothing was done to repair the failure. The vehicle was inspected a second time by the dealer and they advised him that the entire unit would need to be replaced. The manufacturer was contacted and they advised him that they will review the case and contact him at a later date. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 6,000.

Water routinely collects inside of both headlights whenever i wash the car or when raining. Light failure due to water inside of the headlights is reported by many other rx330 owners on various internet forums. I'm very afraid that lights might fail when driving at night. This is a safety issue. Lexus refuses to recognize the problem and to issue a recall since so many cars are affected. Local dealer admitted that there is a widespread problem. Please help.

The passenger side headlamp of the rx330 ceased operation due to a buildup of moisture.condensation has been present in the headlamp for some time, but there were no indications that it would lead to headlamp failure.the suv is maintained by the dealership exclusively, and at no point did they mention the possibility that the condensation could cause failure.the failure occurred at night in a dark section of highway and could have led to serious bodily harm or death.lexus has been aware of the problems with the rx330 headlamps since 2005 and has failed to remedy the problem.the moisture issues could potentially result in serious harm to the driver and occupants of the lexus or other motorists.

I owna 2005 lexus rx 330. I have been having a problem with the condensation build up within the headlight for about 6 months. I went to the lexus dealer to find out the problem they charged a $110.00 service charge to tell me that i need to replace my headlight assembly. The cost to replace is about $2,200. This is a disgrace. My headlight does not work at all. I have not been able to drive my vehicle at night for sometime now. I contacted lexus customer care and explained to them that this seems to be amajor problem and they should have done a recall on this vehicle. The response from lexus is that they would review my case and someone would call me back with a decision. Someone did call me back offering to pay 25% of the total billof 2,200 from the lexus dealership. I was livid. Lexus sells defective vehicles and expects customers to pay the repairs. I don't know what this world is coming to, but this is ridiculous. The mileage failure was 89,000.i will never by lexus again.

We own a 2005 lexus rx330.moisture accumulated in one of our headlights causing it to fail.cost of replacement was $1800,00 which after much ado was paid for by lexus.now our other headlight is doing the same and lexus will only pay for half, which would be very generous except that this a manufacturing defect and should not be my responsibility.please help us get this replaced at no expense to us.thank you.

The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the entire headlight assembly failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. While driving at night, the consumer noticed that the headlights did not illuminate normal at low beam. Please provide further details.when driving in the hills the headlights only illuminate to 20 to 25 feet. The illuminated portion is very bright and the non-illuminated portion is pitch black. *eh

I leased a lexus 2005 rx 330 on november 30, 2004.since i have had the car the car has been vandalized two times once on december. 12 and again on january. 22.each time there has been in excess of 5,000 worth of damage.each time it is theft involving of xenon headlights.this is a obvious manufactures defect and the car should be recalled.i urge this done!!!

I have a lexus rx330 awd (2005) with hids in nj.the vehicle is really good and so is the headlights.no complaints about the ride and luxury.but its disappointing to share my experiences and the sleepless nights i am having for the last 2 months.the hid headlights were stolen twice and i am having scary nights after spending 40k on this luxury suv. One of the big reason why i went for rx 330 from the other brands was the known quality of service and reliability of the lexus brand.but now i am totally disappointed.lexus should notify everyone who has the xenon headlights to do the enhanced security for headlights.but they didn't do anything until i contacted them. Meanwhile i contacted lexus after the 2 thefts and they installed the data dots and anti theft brackets which they say may prevent thefts.it has been done a week back and hope thieves may not steal it again seeing the data dots.these datadots wont prevent theft but they just warn the thief.extra brackets makes their job a bit hard, but they can easily take it by doing more damage to the hood.first theft -5000 k losssecond theft - 6000 k lossi have only this suggestion.1)no one can prevent thefts. My only suggestion is lexusor dealers should warn the customers in nj and ny about the potential headlight thefts or they should notify all owners to install some security enhancements for these headlights.2)why customers risk their life and peaceful nights by spending 40k for luxury vehicles andagain risk to spend 250-500k for deductibles every month.i really worry that next time insurance company may be unwilling to give insurance to my vehicle telling the area is a high risk area. 3)removing a live electrical system from an advanced micro computer controlled vehicle and the theft alarms just sits dumb.i cannot believe why this vehicle and the headlights was designed like this.4)the enhanced brackets should be some strong metallic stuffs(now i guess its plastic).

Lexus rx 330 stolen headlights, this has happened twice.

The contact owns a 2005 lexus rx330. The contact stated that in the past six months that the front headlights have burned out because the rubber seal used was not of good quality. The dealer stated that was the trim and it was not covered under warranty. Each head lamp had a computer and the lack of seal allowed water into the head lamps and short circuit the computer. The passenger side head light was replaced and the driver side has condensation inside of it. The failure mileage was 88000 and current mileage was 96000.

I have a 2005 lexus rx330 which was a re-certified vehicle with 27,000 miles.the response to the accelerator pedal is erratic and causes unexpected surges.this happens less than 5 % of the time but i cannot tie it to any specific conditions (ie cold temperature, down-shift or up-shift, cornering, or road conditions.it occurs randomly but could be very dangerous depending on when it happens.

On sept. 6, 2009 while turning into a general store parking space atless than 5 miles an hour when vehicle suddenly began high acceleration to an estimated 30mph or more before running over parking blocks, attempted braking and crashed into seating benches and building, and proceeded to shut down engine. Police arrived at scene.

Car was parked and a fire broke out underneath the car. Fire department put it out and said there was leakage, but they didn't know what caused it. I had car towed to lexus dealer in lexington ky.

The contact owns a 2005 lexus rx330. While driving approximately 65 mph, the contact heard a loud noise near the rear of the vehicle. The contact attempted to merge to the emergency lane, but the vehicle independently accelerated and headed back into traffic. Only the front two wheels were operating normally and the rear tires were locked. The gear was shifted into neutral, but the vehicle would not move. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence and was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign numbers: 11v112000 (vehicle speed control) and 10v499000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The approximate failure mileage was 131,000.

One can shift the vehicle into different gears, i.e. Reverse, neutral, drive, without starting the vehicle itself.one can turn off the vehicle while the vehicle is in gear, i.e. Reverse, neutral, drive.has happened several times before the listed date.

I took the vehicle in for work under work in february 2008, and the dealer said it was an improper shift in the transmission and it was recalibrated by a technician.since that time i have again had several instances where there was a hesitation in supply power.i want to know if othershave had this similar complaint and if my vehicle is under a recall for this issue.tw*

Bought this car used 3/2011.on 10/26/14 while driving down the interstate the car began making a whining noise & then completely stopped. Would only go forward a few feet, backward a few feet & then nothing.had the car towed & discovered that transmission was bad. Already had to replace a transmission in 2002 rx300 & knew that year model was notorious for bad trans but had researched this year model & trans probs did not seem to be an issue. After diagnosis i researchedthe service records online & discovered the transmission had already been replaced in this same car on 10/26/2010 at 102k miles. (how ironic - 4 years to the date the transmission is out again!)i purchased the car with 103k miles approx 5 months after the trans was replaced.my car now has 196,625k miles & the transmission is bad again.spoke with nalley lexus & was informed that they had replaced the trans in 2010 with a brand new transmission.now at approx 94k miles the trans is bad again???this does not seem normal!i feel like there should be some reimbursement for me having to replace the trans in the same car again!something is making the transmission go out.as expensive as these cars are - you would think the parts - especially the transmission - would hold up better.

The contact owns a 2005 lexus rx330.after parking the vehicle in the driveway, the contact left the gear in drive and removed the key from the ignition.she exited the vehicle and it began rolling backwards.as a result, the vehicle struck a parked vehicle.the vehicle was able to be driven away; however, the contact believes that the key should not have been able to be removed from the ignition while the gear was not in park.a report was filed with the manufacturer and sent to their insurance division, but they have not yet stated whether or not they would be responsible for the repair cost.the vin was unknown.the current and failure mileages were 42,000.

The contact owns a 2005 lexus rx330. The contact stated that while attempting to accelerate on an incline, the vehicle erroneously and independently reversed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted about the failure. The failure mileage was 50,000. The vin was not available.

I am having serious quality problems with my 2005 rx330. The vehicle is kept in the garage and being taken care of like a family member.i took the suv to a lexus dealer for routine maintenance and was told that the steering column was leaking and need to be replaced - approximate cost $1800.i was also told the front differential was leaking and need to be replaced - cost another $1000.this is not the end!approximately six months ago my water pump failed at the middle of a busy intersection, and i had to replace my water pump, timing belt, drive belts, etc only at 65k miles - cost $1200. Why every major key components are failing so early? i drove a car made by a competitor upto 110k miles without any of these issues.lexus/toyota is using defective/cheap parts at the expense and safety of consumers. I would recommend starting an investigation against lexus/toyota for faulty steering and power train components in rx, and based on the investigation, start a recall if needed.i reached out to lexus in the past, but they don't acknowledge any quality problems with rx330; however, when i searched the internet, i see hundreds of owners have the same issues and they are helpless.lexus will not do anything, and therefore, we need nhtsa's help to push lexus to recall rx330 steering and power train components.

2005 lexus rx330 was driven at 40mph under normal highway conditions when the vehicle suddenly accelerated on its own.the vehicle was immediately put in neutral where the engine kept revving.the driver coasted to the side of the road and turned the engine off.the vehicle was restarted and brought to a dealership the following business day for diagnosis.the dealership said they did not find any error codes.

Transmission shift points are occasionally not smooth and exhibit inconsistent engine rpm shift points. Initially noticed when driving uphill and the transmission downshifted lower than it should have. No error codes have been found by the dealer on several occasions. A firmware update on the transmission has been tried two times with limited success about eight months ago. There was improvement but the problem has not been eliminated. Occasional hard upshifts are felt under low load and throttle. Feels like the next gear up or overdrive is confused about when shifting is needed. Contrary to the above smooth shifting during light acceleration may feel slow and a bit uncertain. Down shift points can happen with minor accelerator pedal movement causing higher rpm of engine than needed. Feels like two gear down-shifts instead of the one that's needed. This was a lexus certified vehicle with 28675 miles when purchased used may 2008. Gas mileage has been a bit low and i suspect the shifting behavior is part of the problem. When transmission is cold and shifted into drive (from neutral or reverse) a rapid but distinct two "bumps" are felt if the brake is not on. I am not convinced this is normal behavior and never had another automatic transmission do any of the above. Current mileage is about 36,000.

Transmission delay/slip during acceleration.requires an ecu update.lexus will charge for the update, up to $100.the update should be mandatory and free of charge.

My 2005 rx330 hesitates and i feel it's dangerous.there are times that after making a turn and stepping on the accelerator that the car behind me has almost rammed me.

2004 lexus rx 330:basically, the transmission will not gear down satisfactorily, until it comes to a complete stop. A slow turn and then acceleration will 'always' result in 'lagging' of gear changes, then it will finally gear down and lurch into the lower gear. It's aggravating and can be downright dangerous in tight crowded freeway driving conditions where it's not unusual to have to slow down and then speed up without getting rear-ended. The transmission also has a very loud "whining" as soon as you let off on the gas pedal. The car has been doing these things since i purchased the car in feb 2004. At the 5000, 10,000 servicings, i complained to the service manager about the transmission and each time was told that nothing was wrong with the car.

The contact owns a 2005 lexus rx330. The contact was driving 20 mph when the transmission would not engage and caused the vehicle to sputter abnormally. The vehicle was taken to the dealer at least three times for the failure and each time, the technician would adjust the ecu but the failure would persist. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not further repaired. The failure mileage was 85,000.

Lexus rear seat over shoulder belt would not release. Belt had somehow wrapped around 11 year old boy that was trying to lie down and we had to cut belt to release child.

The key broke into the ignition, dealer refused to assist with repair ot new key even though i hadn't had it very long. The stering wheel locks., the tires shake, cords all falling from under the car, the electrical goes in and out including windows and heat. My seat belts lock on me . This car is a mess and i have two children 11,5 and a senior father that has alzeimers that have to be transported in this lemon faily. The dealers wonmt help they make payment and reapir promises and never keep them, i had been experiencing hardships and they used it against me to justify not repairing the car. Yet these issues have been exisitent since day 1. 11/15/2016

I started the car as usual, let it idle for 10-15 seconds, put it in drive and left the driveway.seconds later or 150-200 feet later, i applied the brakes, felt the brakes getting mushy followed by ahuge billow of white smoke blowing out of the exhaust. I used the emergency brake to stop the car (was only traveling at 5-8 mph) and turned the ignition off. When i inspected the master cylinder, i noticed it was empty - absolutely no fluid in it.surmised the white smoke coming out of my exhaust was the brake fluid being drawn into it but i didn't know how or why. I left the car sit in my drive wayuntil i had the energy and time to deal with it.later on, i looked up how to remove the master cylinder off the internet when i notice recalls for 2004-2005 rx330's, in particular master cylinder seals and vacuum boosters. Both issues reflected exactly what hashappened to my car. I had the car towed to lexus of westminster who promptly said a recall seal was replaced (although idon't recall this happening)and it will cost me $200 todiagnose the problem. I had the auto towed to an independent lexus mechanic where i found out the brake booster failed. Additional research found recall notices on both of these items with the descriptions describing what occurred on other rx330's was exactly what occurred with this lexus, yet lexus of westminster refuses to acknowledge any problem or liability associated with these two issues. All they said was the seal (master cylinder) was replaced some time ago and any further repairs are on me.

Takata recall, i called about the recall for the engine coolingand the brakes hydrulic and they say my car is not in the recall but i am having problem with my cooling

Periodically the brake, abs, vsc, and low pressure light blinks while driving , as soon as the key is turned off then back on the warning lights disappear.

On september the 1st we had just had extreme thunder and lightning, torrential downpours. I had just dropped my girlfriend off at work and at this time it was only raining moderately, and the time was 1:20 pm, and then i started the 15 minute trip back home. I was 1/3 of the way back home and noticed as i was driving, a pedestrian wanting to cross the street so at this time i stopped and the vehicles braking system seemed to work just fine at that time. I then started driving the final 2/3 of the way home, i was about one and a half to 1-3/4 of a mile to home and thank goodness no pedestrian or vehicle was in front of me because for approximately 1400 to 1600 feet the lexus suv would not stop or slow down and thankfully i was only going 30 to 35 mph and the vehicle fortunately had enough distance to slow itself down before the hairpin left curve in the next part of the road. And then strangely enough the brakes seemed to be operating properly again. Please note that i am mechanically inclined, and can name all of the parts in the vehicle's braking system.

The contact owns a 2005 lexus rx-330. While driving approximately 5 mph, the contact applied the brakes but the vehicle would not stop and crashed. During the failure, the contact could smell a burning odor and noticed smoke was escaping from under the vehicle. There were no injuries. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer where the brakes were repaired. The failure mileage was 51,000 and the current mileage was 52,000. Updated 03/16/11updated 03/21/11

While braking from 50 to 60 mph the vehicle would not stop properly. The consumer would have to appliedthe brake pedal harder to get the vehicle to stop. Vehicle has been to the dealer on two separte occasions. The dealer replace the brake booster the first and the second time they was unable to locate a problem.

On october 17, 2010 i was driving my 2005 lexus rx330 into my garage at less than 10 mph.on my way up the driveway, i put my foot on the brake pedal.while my foot was on the brake pedal, the car made a noise and accelerated forward.i pumped the brakes several times and eventually forced the car to stop right before hitting the garage cabinets.later my husband started the vehicle in the park position. When he stepped on the brake, the rpm's zoomed from 1,000 rpm to 3000 rpm (racing the engine).my husband was able to duplicate this dangerous phenomenon four consecutive times.simply stated, the brake was acting as an accelerator. We attempted to videotape the problem, but couldn't recreate the situation.upon further investigation i found dozens of other incidents filed through the national highway transportation administration of the same year, make, and model as my vehicle.many of these vehicles were also engaged in the parking process. After considerable coercion with lexus, we convinced them to tow vehicle into the local dealership.the lexus described 'national inspector' examined the vehicle and 'found nothing wrong.' there is unequivocally a dangerous problem with the vehicle and yet, the toyota corporation refuses to acknowledge the potential for future occurrences or attempt any sort of repair.the fact that lexus couldn't duplicate the problem doesn't absolve their responsibility to our family and the american public.we consider ourselves credible witnesses to the problem, considering both my husband and i experienced the extremely dangerous mechanical anomaly and are not attempting to sue for property damage or personal injury.

The contact owns a 2005 lexus rx330. The contact stated that the brake system failed and the brake warning indicator illuminated. The contact also stated that the steering wheel made a loud noise while being turned. The vehicle was taken to lexus of annapolis (121 ferguson road, annapolis, md 21409, (410)-266-3333) where it was diagnosed that the brake master cylinder failed and caused the brake fluid to leak. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 130,100.

The contact owns a 2005 lexus rx330. The contact stated that the vsc indicator illuminated intermittently.

There is a problem with the power steering of the vehicle. Took it to the lexus dealer who stated that there was a leak in the power steering system. I am not a tecnical person but was explicitly told that if i do not get it fixed the steerin wheel could get stuck leading to an accident.

I have been experiencing issue with my steering control, and a unique noise on sharp turns, so during my next oil change at the lexus dealership they examined and informed me that my steering rack is seeping oil, and would need a replacement to a cost of $1,800. I drive my car over the weekends with my kids on outdoor trips over the weekend and have only 70k miles, so was a complete shock to learn about this issue. Research has shown me that this is a know issue, and many consumers have similar complain. On contacting lexus, i was informed that since my car is out of warranty period, there not much they can do although they are well aware of the issue, there was a channel 2 san diego, ca clip on toyota motors having a recall, but i was informed no such recall is in force, so i am confused. Lexus contact me and ready to pay a partial sum on the part replacement but i would have to bear the labor and much of the cost associated for the part. A similar story that echoed with other users, lexus needs to address this recall/safety issue at once, before a fatality occurs.

My steering locked up was wining took it in rack and pinion is leaking real badno power steering do to leak..

Replaced the front brake pads and rotors yesterday on my 2005 lexus rx330, on the passenger side i noticed the inner tie rod boot deteriorated and surrounded by oil and/or grease leaking. I was baffled by the poor condition this boot was in, trying to figure out what and how this was caused. During my research online, i soon discovered several complaints of the same defect. The fix is to replace the rack & pinion due to a faulty seal that has caused power steering fluid to leak into the inner tie rod boot and break down and disintegrate the rubber boot. A very costly repair, that i feel the consumer shouldn't have to absorb, being lexus is aware of this defect. I have 135,000 miles on my rx330. I bought a lexus for the sole purpose of reliablity and longevity. I'm wondering if i made the wrong choice..... Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Vehicle's stabilization control (vsc)malfunctions causing the vehicle to have difficulty in steering.

Vehicle starting making noise, took it into an auto repair shop, and was told the power steering fluid was very low. They also stated i needed to replace the rack and pinion. I looked online, and it seems to be an issue with 2005 rx330's. Obviously, reading the complaints, there should be a recall for this known problem.

The alignment has always been an issue and has been adjusted more often then any other car i've ever owned. Until recently i noticed the steering getting stiffer and harder to handle. Changed the fluid several times and it doesn't seem to be the problem. Took it in to get checked, it's the rack and pinion and will cost over $1000 to repair. After speaking with the mechanic he stated "this is a common defect in your lexus, but they aren't putting in a recall on it." that's ridiculous. As most of us here, we have the safety of our families in our cars. I'm not even finished paying this thing off and it's falling apart. This should be taken much more seriously and should be recalled considering that it looks as if most of these models are having the same issues. It's very scary to drive. But not in my budget...food and clothing first...not fixing a manufacturers error. Manufactured in canada.

The contact owns a 2005 lexus rx330. While driving various speeds, there was an abnormal noise coming from the power steering. The contact also observed evidence of a power steering fluid leak. The dealer diagnosed that the power steering pump and the rack and pinion needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 130,000.

My dashboard began to show signs of cracking about a year ago. It started to crack around the radio/audio components and spread quickly like a spider web. Lexus agreed to replace the dashboard at no charge, but not the labor costs.while replacing it, they advised me that the power steering rack and pinion had severe fluid leakage on right side, boot deteriorated. The cost of this repair was $1,856.00.there was also an issue with the left front cv axle inboard joint boot, an additional $412.00. In reading all the complaints on this website and on the internet, it appears that the dashboard and the rack and pinion are a common problems that lexus is aware of. A service representative also told me that the rx 350 has a significant problem with the rack and pinion, but lexus is not willing to do anything about it.i am hoping that this brings light to these issues and something is done about this.

Owner took car in for routine 110,000 mile service (told it would be about $150). Next day was informed by dealer that power steering pump and high pressure power steering hose needed replacement.had not noticed any symptoms prior to this, no leaking noted beneath car other than water from ac. Dealer said a leak would be from same pan as ac, but power steering fluid would be oily not watery. I explained that i did not have any sign of power steering leak.parts ($665.94) and labor ($217) for pump = total ($882.94)parts ($528.99) and labor ($294.50) for high pressure steering hose = total ($831.48) this cost was $1700 on top of my 110.000 maintenance charge.has this been a problem for other owners of 2005 rx 330 ?

Leaking power steering rack assembly. Seems to be a very common problem with these rx330's. Advised i need a new rack & pinion assembly. Lexus needs a recall for this issue, too many complaints! also told need to replace headlight ballist!

During routine state inspection, dealer informed me the power steering rack was leaking and must be replaced.the cost to replace the rack is estimated at $1600.from reading similar stories for lexus vehicles, i understand the leak could lead to catastrophic failure of the steering system and possible fires from fluids on the alternator.

Steering keeps getting locked up.this time that it happened, it would not reverseitself and had to have it towed into the lexus dealership.

Vehicle's svc system malfunctions which causes the vehicle's steering to operate erratically-particularly at speeds above 50mph.please investigate this matter.

I am experiencing issues with my steering control and powering steering leaking which has caused a unique noise on sharp turns and while driving in general. My mechanic informed me that my rack and pinions need to be replaced. My 2005 rx 330 currently has 131,000 miles. It's very sad to read previous complaints and lexus still has not done anything about this issue. This is a known problem that lexus is aware of - what the hell!

The contact owns a 2005 lexus rx330. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and authorized dealer for routine maintenance. The technicians detected that the power steering internal seal was defective. The vehicle had not been repaired for the malfunction. The failure mileage was 61,000.

Dealer mentioned power steering leak in 2014, again in 2015 and previous owner of vehicle took it in to have it looked at due to complaint of problems with power steering in 2012 with water pump and timing belt were changed. My local dealer is stating the repair will cost at least $1000 to repair. Despite recalls on the internet, it seems that the investigation of the 2005 lexus rx 330 needs to include vehicle manufactured in canada (mine states canada). Please help i want to be safe driving my family in this vehicle.

Power steering rack and pinion assembly o-ring seals fail allowing power steering fluid to leak out into rubber boot. Replacement is recommended average cost to owner $1000, lexus refuses to cover any of it. My lexus was inspected by car center located in greenville mi licensed mechanic who confirmed and documented the problem. Called my local lexus dealer and was told it was my problem.

Took vehicle to lexus dealer for 90,000 mile service and tech found power steering fluid low and dirty.when looking further, tech found that steering rack was torn and leaking.tech requested to replace the power steering rack and perform a flush.i declined because of the exorbitant cost ($1,000?).this is a definite safety issue and very similar to a complaint filed 11-5-13, nhtsa i.d. No. 10550956.i believe there is a pattern here, the product recalled, and lexus/toyota accept the financial responsibility to have the vehicle repaired asap.i believe they may have service bulletin no. Lsb-0107-12, nhtsa i.d. No. 10050660, steering, issued to address the problem.i look forward to hearing from you.thank you.

Leaking power steering rack assembly.seems to be a very common problem with these rx330's...

Power steering rack unit leaking common problem with many lexus owners as shown below. Toyota refuses to acknowledge this problem leaving many owners to pay for expensive repairs. I have purchased the replacement part myself and will have my local certified mechanic do the labor. Total cost to me will be over $600 which is far cheaper then the local lexus dealership charges. Link below shows how many lexus owners have had this exact problem.http://www.aboutautomobile.com/complaint/2005/lexus/rx+330/steering.

Steering rack on vehicle has developed leak, it seems a common occurrence on this vehicle.

Vehicle failed inspection due to power steering rack leaking.. Was referred to dealership who said they could do nothing about it.. Called lexus customer assistance center, twice, and have still not gotten any satisfaction or resolve.so much for lexus quality..

2005 lexus rx330 while i am driving on freeway a driver rear quarter window's molding felt out off. I contacted lexus headquarter rise an issue, i do reseach online forums to find down alot of same problems. I talked to lexus headquarter personnel i think its a manufacture defective, but they denied that. Since my car out of warranty lexus just pay half of replacement cost. I think it unfair should be replaced by lexus corp cost.

The dashboard of my vehicle has been melting away and cracking. The leather has completely come off in some areas and the entire dashboard has cracks. I contacted lexus about this issue because it is obviously a manufactures defect.lexus has been unresponsive in trying to repair my vehicle stating i am out of warranty.please help!

2005 lexus rx 300 design flaw with the grill in the condenser.*mr the mecahnic determined that a very minute piece of a stone chip made a hold in the grill in front of the condenser, which caused the freon to drain out. The consumer believed the grill was too delicated

My 2005 lexus rx330 dashboard has ripped open in several places. One is directly over my passenger side airbag! i bought this vehicle brand new and it has only 60,000 miles. It has been kept in a garage most of the time. This is a defect that has happen to other owners. Lexus should recall these dash boards and replace them. I have been told that it will cost me $1400. Dollars to replace it because it cannot be repaired due to the location over the airbag.

Dashboard has been cracking to no fault of my own- i live in florida and it cracks due to heat and now the whole dashboard is cracking and pieces falling off.

In 2009 my dashboard started cracking and peeling. I took it to lexus of the palm beaches, where i bought it from and they refuse to repair it. They told me that i would have to pay 2000. For the replacement dashboard. I called the corp. Officer and complained and received a letter stating that they would give me 25% off for the replacement dashboard. That was unacceptable because their product has a defect. I still own this vehicle and the dashboard is totally ripped up. I am afraid that the airbag is going to blow out and cause me or my children injury.as of now lexus of the palm beaches still refuse to repair the dashboard!i am seeking the attorney who has now filed a law suit.

2005 rx330 dashboard started cracking over the passenger side air bag and air vent on passenger side...called dealer and didn't get anywhere.began looking up information on google on how to repair dashboards and found many complaints listed and that the dashboards were obviously defective, but lexus not correcting the problems.confronted dealer who sold the car and he then admitted that it is a known problem..i could either replace the dash for around $2000 or try to patch/repair it.called and some repair shops would not repair my dash because the damage was right where the airbag is on the passenger side and they wouldn't touch it.how can a luxury car manufacturer get away withdefective dashboards?if the dashboard cracks more severely, will the airbag deploy?one repair company said that they have seen these dashboards crack so bad that they look like a spider web over the whole dash.is this safe to continue driving like this?

While driving on the highway there was a startlingly loud noise from the back, upper left part of the car. After reaching our destination we realized the top molding on the quarter rear driver-side window had ripped off the car while driving at normal highway speeds. This appears to be a common design flaw, based on lexus chats. This should be a manufacturer covered defect even if the vehicle is no longer under warranty. This could be a serious danger if those hit someone or something.

The dashboard has been melting and cracking since june 2009. It has continued to deteriorate through the years to the point that its falling apart.

Dash has hairline cracks near front passenger airbag and around ignition and gauges. I have had my dash covered for the past 5 years and also vehicle kept under a carport.many forums have customers complaining of the same issue.lexus refuses to do anything about it.i'm concerned if my vehicle was involved in an accident and the passenger airbag deployed the flying debris from dash could possibly put someone's eye out or cause facial injury. Hopefully, this will be investigated and lexus will have to issue a recall to replace the dash due to the faulty material used to make the dash.

Dashboard and side door inside panels are melting and chipping off. Sometimes becomes extremely sticky and hot. There is a glare at times when driving during heat of day.

Besides melting/shining/sticky dashboard the whole board is cracked straight from the passenger door to the drivers door. In 2010 when i had it in for service to jm lexus (margate) i asked about getting it fixed or replaced as i was worried it fall down from where the crack is.the gentlemen's answer was that the car is 6 years old. I explained i have another car that is older without the issues.the repair would be my expense. I now have a car that has reduced resale or trade in value that cost a lot of money.

The contact owns a 2005 lexus rx330.the contact stated that the dashboard melted on the front passenger side of the vehicle.the dashboard became extremely sticky and the plastic traveled toward the passenger side air bag.the manufacturer was notified ofthe failure and was able to assist the contact.the failure mileage was 50,000.

2005 lexus rx330.consumer writes in regards to vehicle dashboard is very sticky, has cracks and needs to be replaced. Dealership informs consumer replacement dashboard still on back order.

A crack above the glove box started to appear.if the crack continues,it could cause problems to the electrical system and cause a wreck or life.i bought the lexus new and paid around $38,000.i love the car, as it looks brand new, except for the dash board.the back seat has hardly been sat in.

My vehicle has always been parked in a garage, and i have always used a shield in the front window when it is parked outside regardless of weather. I am fanatical about cleaning and used only cleaners, conditioners, etc that lexus had recommended (basically i only buy what lexus sells to care for my suv). In early 2011, my daughter noticed a very large crack in the dash right above the glove compartment.(we were getting into the vehicle not moving, etc).later that afternoon we got back into the vehicle and not only were there more cracks, but huge chunks have fallen off and literally the pieces that fell off just disintegrated when picked up.this is unacceptable as toyota has addressed this issue, albeit ona case by case basis, but i have seen thousands of forums & posts of others having the exact same issue no matter location, mileage or care or condition of vehicle. Lexus should stand by their previous reputation for being a luxury vehicle and not compromising on the integrity of their product and replace or fix or reimburse those that are affected! i am a single mom with three kids and i cannot afford to pay out over $3000 to repair something that is clearly a manufacturer defect nor should the thousands of others dealing with this preposterous situation we are faced with. Lexus needs to step up to the plate and take care of this!!

The contact owns a 2005 lexus rx330. The contact stated that the dashboard produced a sticky substance and fractured. The vehicle was taken to a dealer. The technician diagnosed that the dashboard needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 8,000. The vin was not available.

Lexus had a recall to repair cracks rapidly developing in the dashboard. When the recall came out i was in the hospital having cancer surgery.the date for the recall had just passed. I called lexus and was told to bring the car to9 the dealer. The dealer found the problem and wrote of an estimate to summit from headquarters for coverage. Headquarters got back to me and said i was too late to have it fixed under the recall.this was after the dealer said they would. I wrote to the ceo of lexus usa and never even got the courtesy of a reply.now the dashboard is cracking worse.

The contact owns a 2005 lexus rx330. While driving approximately 25 mph, the steel cable that secured the spare tire under the vehicle suddenly snapped and caused the tire to separate from the vehicle. The cause of the failure was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 91,000.

We are experiencing severe cracking and softening of the dashboard material. This has happened even though we have garaged the vehicle since purchasing.we also have a 2005 toyota camry which has no dashboard issues and it has been left outside consistently since purchased new in 2005.we feel that the cracking and softening of the dashboard presents a chemical health risk.

The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that an unknown air conditioner drain needed to be unclogged. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 142,000.

1. I have always kept my car in a garage & only used products recommended & bought directly from lexus. Upon entering my vehicle my daughter noticed a large crack in the dash running from bottom side of glove compartment to top of dash. Pieces that fall off crumble to dust the second they're touched. My local dealership told me they've had hundreds of cars coming in w the same issue and it would be $1500 for the replacement and that didn't include labor!2. My moon(sun) roof stopped working literally just one day wouldn't close all the way.i had to have the dealership cut the cable so they could close it so rain etc didn't leak into my vehicle. Again there was no reason for this! i was told again the part wad at least $1500 not including labor..... How coincidental it's the same price as replacing my dash. 3. When i purchased the vehicle from lexus i was given a "paint pen" for some light scratches that were from the previous owner (i bought the car with a little over 3000 miles on it in 2007)and i asked them to use it so i wouldn't have to worry if i applied it wrong. After the repair gentleman did a few spots i stopped him because you could see exactly where he had applied it, it was raised and the color was off.they said there was nothing they could do to fix it. Now these issues were not due to any accident or improper driving or having some inexperienced mechanic doing work.i have lexus taking care of my services etc and these problems are expensive and something i should not have had to deal with.i am flabbergasted that lexus/toyota will not stand behind their products and fix issues that hundreds of thousands of owners are having.i want lexus to correct this for myself and the other owners that are voicing their concerns.as it stands many of us will never buy another lexus again because of these issues.

The contact owns a 2005 lexus rx-330. The contact was entering the vehicle and noticed that the dashboard began to crack and disintegrate. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer and was diagnosed with hydrolysis. The vehicle was not repaired and the failure progressed. The manufacturer was notified of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 84000.

My 6 year old lexus window molding flew off on both quarter size back windows in the last month. This is a hazard as it went flying off in the highway, one day and not even a month later, the other one flew off and almost hit a pedestrian. They said i will need to replace the entire window for the molding. This sounds like the window could possibly fly off as well if the molding isn't something you can just clip back on. There are several websites of this complaint, but lexus is not willing to do anything. I have a message from lexus headquarters stating since out of warranty they will not replace. I feel this is very dangerous and cheap of lexus. Below are the websites of complaints on this matter:http://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-second-generation/478653-rear-quarter-window-exterior-molding-fell-off-rx330.htmlhttp://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-second-generation/478653-rear-quarter-window-exterior-molding-fell-off-rx330-9.htmlhttp://boardreader.com/thread/rear_quarter_window_exterior_molding_fel_qkffxa9bx.htmlhttp://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=64391[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Exhaust fumes can be sucked into the vehicle's cabin if the rear hatch is slightly open , hauling long object, because the rear air deflector is improper design to create a down draft when vehicle is moving.

The contact owns a 2005 lexus rx330. The contact stated the dashboard was cracking. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was notified however, no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.

Excessive bouncing and swaying. I think all toyota cars have a potential to have faulty shocks. I had bought a new camry and always wondered why it had a lot of body roll and excessive bouncing. To make it a short story, i ended up replacing the front shocks that improved handling dramatically. Here i am, owning another new toyota product lexus rx 330, having a same problem. I cannot drive it any faster than 35 mph on 45 mph zone curvy country roads because the car tends to roll left and right a lot.

Hello, this complaint is not of lexus vehicle i own. I am filing the compliant about the firestone destination le 2 tires i purchased from local firestone store couple years again. I purchase 5 tires including a full size spare. I did first tire rotation this month at the same store location. This morning while driving on the high way. The brand new spare tire rotated to the rear passenger side had a sudden blow out. I almost lost control of my vehicle. By the time i stopped on the shoulder, on side of the tread was completely separated from the wall. I think the tire has manufacture defect and would like to report to you. In case this is not an isolated problem the manufacture should notify other customers about the problem.

Not passing smog test. Test result sayscatalyst not ready

I was driving in the far right hand lane on thursday, dec. 16 at approximately 8:45 pm. I entered i 680s at the bollinger canyon road exit and i was approaching the alcosta blvd exit. I hit something i assume was in the road because i didn't see anything and the item flew up in the air after the impact. I didn't stop, but continued to drive and i heard a whirring sound. I continued to my destination to the hilton garden inn in livermore where i was meeting a friend, who was staying at the hotel. When i arrived at the hotel and told my friend what happened, he came to my car to look at the damage. I drove my car to b&s hacienda auto body on old santa rita road and left my car in the parking lot. On thursday, dec 17, i drove on i 680s and saw a mangled shovel with a green handle on the shoulder as i was approaching the alcosta blvd exit. Cal trans was doing work on the left side of the highway beyond the alcosta blvd exit the night i hit the item in the road. I believe the shovel i hit was left in the road by a cal trans work crew. I have over $6,000 worth of damage done to my car as a result of hitting what i believe to be a shovel that was left in the road.

While backing out of my parking place in our underground garage i put on the brake to go from reverse to drive.when i put the vehicle in drive the engine raced up and the car surged forward.i was only 15 feet from a brick wall of which i hit at an angle.i bounced off this wall and went 10 feet further head on into another wall.i did not touch the gas petal, the mats are rubber and were not a problem.the vehicle just suddenly accelerated.the air bags did not deploy and i shut the engine off as soon as i could but given the fact that the total travel length was around 30 feet this was not possible.this is a know problem with toyota!!we love our car but we are now afraid of it.my insurance rates will be going up because of a factory defect and all i have seen are excuses in regards to this problem.

Car was parked and a fire broke out underneath the car. Fire department put it out and said there was leakage, but they didn't know what caused it. I had car towed to lexus dealer in lexington ky.

The tail light lense of the new lexus suv is clear/white plastic and is a safety hazard to the vehicle following it when the sun shines on it from that direction.i have been distracted/blinded a number of times.what ever happened to the law that required the tail lights to be red?toyota must think that this is a cool stylingfeature.this is a definite safety problem and should be addressed.

The dash of my car is cracking and chipping

I was in the process of parking my car (going slow) in front of a dry cleanersand suddenly the car just took off and accelerated right through the store front. I have never been so shocked and scared in my life. Due to the force of the car moving so fast, i was not able to reach the brakes to stop the car. Fortunately, no one was hurt, since it was a sunday and the store was closed. Without much time to think, i told the police that my shoe must have gotten caught on the pedal. However, the more time i have had to think about it, i do not recall my shoe getting caught on the pedal. This was the only thing i could think of at the time.i have read that this has happened before with the toyota lexus include the rx 330 model.

Sunroofshattered for no reason while driving on california hwy 580 near berkeley, i heard a loud noise, combination thud cracking sound, thinking that the car had been struck, exceptthe car was not hit or under an overpass; the sunroofhad spontaneously shatteredand broke into pieces. Luckily the cover was closed and the glass did not fall on us. It was both scary and a shock that this happened. The glass is defective. I was driving on the hwy in clear conditions, near berkeley california on 580, no over pass above the car,no other cars passing or in front when the glass broke,no turning involved.i have taken the car to my local lexus dealer, they said that they would get back to me in a day or two to let me know if they will take care of the defect or not.

I took my lexus rx 330 in for it's 90,000 mile scheduled maintenance and told them that it had a roaring noise like a wheel bearing.the scheduled maintenance included replacing the timing belt and they did both rear wheel bearings, with some fluid replacement and other items.i have owned new cars for over 45 years and have always kept them for over 10 years and over 100,000 miles and have never had to have a timing belt replaced.in that same time period i have had to have only one wheel bearing replaced and that was on a vehicle that was 17 years old with 180,000 miles on it.to have to have this done on a vehicle that is only 5 years old is unacceptable, especially on a high end vehicle like a lexus.this suggests to me that either inferior parts are being used or they were defective at installation.of course lexus would never admit to either.i have contacted the dealer maintenance with no response and their customer service, which responded with an apology for my concern.nothing has been done however.if you can bring some pressure on lexus to make good on their "alleged" quality i would appreciate it.thank you.

The contact owns a 2005 lexus rx30.while entering a parking space she applied pressure to the brake pedal, and then the vehicle accelerated without intention. Consequently, the vehicle crashed into a building. A police report was filed.the vehicle was towed to a collision center.the front end of the vehicle received $9,088 worth of damage. The failure and current mileages were 22,000.

The contact owned a 2005 lexus rx330. While backing out of a parking lot, the vehicle suddenly accelerated forward. Although the brakes were engaged, the vehicle crashed into a pillar. The air bags failed to deploy. A police report was filed and no injuries were sustained. The vehicle was destroyed. The failure mileage was unknown.

Vehicle's svc system malfunctions which causes the vehicle's steering to operate erratically-particularly at speeds above 50mph.please investigate this matter.

The contact owns a 2005 lexus rx330. He stated that the vehicle hesitated and accelerated momentarily while depressing the acceleration pedal. He also stated that when the vehicle traveled around a curve or bend, it would momentarily accelerate abnormally. The dealer advised him that there were no related complaints and could not duplicate the failure. There were no repairs made to the vehicle. The current and failure mileages were under 15,000.updated 04/16/10. *ljupdated 07/13/10.

Unexpected acceleration when entering my driveway at a very low rate of speed (2 mph maybe) when the car suddenly accelerated out of control for about 6 feet.i was standing on the brake pedal & it finally stopped.there was no sign of a problem with the rug bunching up.had vehicle towed to japanese car care specialist, llc the next day (was afraid to drive it).they could not find anything wrong with it; no warning lights came on, no sign of transmission trouble.we are now driving the car again without incident but it's hard to trust it.just wanted to put this incident on file with the ntsb in case it should happen again.updated 10/01/15*lj updated 12/28/2015

2005 lexus rx330 would not stop nor brake as headed downhill in slightly snowy weather at about 25mph. As road curved, i could not slow vehicle and thus started to lose steering control. I attempted to accelerate thinking it wa a forward slide but that didn't change things and vehicle continued to accelerate. So i hit the breaks hard-- no result, no additional control. Vehicle continued for about a block, hit curb, then tree.

Vehicle is equipped with two-piece style lug nuts consisting of a physical lug nut and a decorative cap. Lug nuts are 21mm in size. Over time, especially in humid climates or where road salt is used, lug nuts swell between decorative cap and physical lug nut due to corrosion. Swelling can cause 21mm tools including vehicle lug wrench to not fit on lug nut. This is a safety concern because having a flat tire with this issue can lead to being unable to remove lug nuts from vehicle

Our lexus had a bad roller bearing on the rear passenger's wheel. The internet (lexus owners club)tells us that many other owners with this model have had the same problemin the same location. It is dangerous because the wheel can suddenly seize or fly off, causing loss of control. I hope you will require lexus to recall and fix the cars that haven't failed yet, and to reimburse those who have had to have it fixed already.
