Parent co, toyota issued a voluntary replacement of dashboard due to cracked, sticky, shiny condition in what was an obvious attempt to stave off an official government recall and/or a class action. Parent co, toyota is now stalling by not supplying the dealers with said dashboards they promised to replace. I first brought this issue to the attention of my dealer in may of 2012. Even if the dealer was receiving the dashboards at the rate of 2 or 3 a week as originally promised, it would be another full year or more before they would replace mine. At this time, the dealers are receiving none and no dashboards are being replaced. This is not just a cosmetic issue, it's a severe safety hazard. In the case of my dash, which is completely covered with cracks, if the airbag is deployed at 200 mph those small little pieces of plastic will shred my face and the faces of anyone riding with me into hamburger. Considering the fact that the takata air bags can be deployed even when there isn't a accident, makes it even a bigger hazard. Enough is enough, the government needs to step in and issue an official recall and force toyota to replace the dashboards immediately without any more legal stall tactics. The vehicle is essentially undriveable in it's present condition. I have health conditions that prevent me from working at this time and need the vehicle to get to my doctors. I couldn't afford to buy a new vehicle even if this one was in excellent trade-in value. It's been over 4 years for me, longer for others and will be multiple more years at this rate. I need a safe vehicle to drive, like the one i was promised when i purchased this one.

While driving the 2004 lexus rx330 on the freeway, trying to avoid a car on my left lane that suddenly swerved to my driver side. To avoid being hit, i steered slightly to the right. However, due to the speed, the car went over to the right lane and when trying to turn the steering back to the left, the car skid and lost control. Skidded across two lanes to the right, hit a truck trailer, trailer over turned, my lexus then got bounced back, rolled over across 5-6 lanes on the freeway, landed on the passenger side by the divider, driver was knocked out after impact when the suv started rolling over. Got a concussion on the left side of the head. Car was totaled. My complained is that none of the air bags in the vehicle was deployed at all. Wrote a registered letter to the manager of the lexus dealer where the car was purchased two years ago but never got a reply either. With such extensive damage and several impact during the accidents, if the air bags were deployed, the concussion could have been avoided plus the numerous cut from the flying glass when all the windows and windscreen were shattered.

The vehicle dashboard has experienced abnormal cracking and decomposition throughout.it started with hairline cracks which spread all through the dash.since the dash started to turn sticky/gummy, pieces of the dash started falling off near the ends (e.g. Where the dash meets the glove compartment).of concern is airbag deployment in case of an accident.for example, since the dash has been compromised and has cracks, would the airbag deployment cause the dash to splinter and shoot pieces at the car's occupants?would the stickiness of the dash cause the airbag deployment to fail since it can stick to the dash due to it's newly acquired adhesive properties?visibility concerns arise due to the reflections of the dash on the windshield.since the dash can no longer be kept clean because everything sticks to it, bothersome reflections are cast on the windshield during certain lighting conditions.the local lexus dealership and lexus corporate was notified and they inspected the vehicle.they said the vehicle was no longer covered under warranty and since my vehicle had not been serviced at the dealership, they would not pay to replace the dash; they did offer a 25% discount for the cost of the parts.from my research, it appears faulty materials may have been used by toyota/lexus for a period of some years as there are many reports of this same condition happening to other owners.since there are safety concerns involved, i believe lexus should be responsible and replace the faulty dashboards.

The dashboard leather material has cracked income apart on top of where the passenger airbag sits.

Car accident in which my lexus was totaled air bags never deployed.

My dashboard has been recalled and mine is split and keeps getting larger especially where the passenger airbag is located. Lexus told me in july 2015 that the "dashboards will be released at the end of this month." that did not happen. The response that i received as to whether my airbags were takata, lexus responded, "unfortunately we do not have data on the manufacturer....but can assure you that ...the airbags...are not under any recall at this time." i am suppose to feel good driving my car with that statement? they have always known every part in my car by vin #. I am also driving around with the headlights' excessive moisture after they finally could replace those. Alluding me that i would be able to get the dashboard fixed at the end of july, i held off get that repaired until i could do all three. Now, i believe that the headlights' repair will be at my expense.when is nhtsa.dot.gov going to enforce the recalls? i & many others are driving death vehicles!!! are my children going to have to sue both you & lexus for neglect? i, & numerous others, thought that we were paying you to protect us. When are you going to protect us instead of just recording our issues?

I was driving into a parking structure and was startled by something inside the car falling.i lost control of the vehicle and ran head-on into a concrete pole.the airbags did not deploy.the car was deemed a total loss and, in an accident of that type, it was scary that the airbags did not deploy.

Passenger side airbag is compromised due to the dash cracking apart.the car is in excellent condition and has been garage kept, so heat is not the issue with the dash.the dash problem is a manufacturer defect.

Recently there was a popping sound while the vehicle was turned on and was stationary. It resulted in cracks on the front passenger side dashboard. I am scared to drive the vehicle as i do not know what happened. Is there a lexus recall for the same problem?

Passenger airbag remains (indicates off) when my spouse is in the passenger seat.took to dealer and dealer has not fixed problem.

Dt: consumer's vehicle was involved ina front end collision going approximately 40 mph. Upon impact, the air bags did not deploy.there was extensive damage to the vehicle.contacted lexusand lexus stated that because the impact was high consumer struck tractor trailer in the rear, and there was no damage to the frame. The damage occurred higher than a typical impact being that the consumer struck a large vehicle.the vehicle is currently at a repair shop getting fixed. .seat belts were worn when this occurred.

The contact owns a 2004 lexus rx330. The contact stated that the dashboard was defective and exhibited fractures near the passenger side air bag area. The dealer stated that the manufacturer did not provide the replacement dashboard; therefore, they were unable to perform the replacement. The manufacturer was notified. The vin was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.

Driving conservatively through a pharmacy parking lot; abruptly took a right hand turn into an available parking space ( habitually prefer a left-handed parking entry); engine roared, tires squealed and auto jumped over the concrete parking barrier/ over the curb/ and proceeded to strike near the door entrance and a support wall.airbags did not deploy.

I own a 2004 lexus rx 330. As has been widely reported on the internet, the dashboard in these cars has a tendency to crack and peal, particularly around the area above the passenger airbag. At the outset this appears to be a cosmetic issue. However, when i recently went to an auto upholstery shop to inquire about repair, the technician became alarmed because i -- like presumably many others -- had sought to initiate a temporary repair by placing heavy-duty duct tape over the cracked area. The technician advised me to immediately remove the duct tape because of his concern that it would interfere with the deployment of the airbag. Thus, in this instance, while the actual problem may only be cosmetic, the tendency of consumers to seek to temporarily repair the issue particularly given the prohibitive cost of dashboard replacement as a proper repair?? creates a situation of grave concern for passenger safety. I had driven the car thousands of miles with the duct tape covering the airbag without a thought to the risk i was taking.

Front end collision in 2004 lexus rx 330 with 206,000 miles going approximately 55 mph. Car is totaled per insurance adjuster. Driver and three children in car. No serious injuries. No airbags deployed. Have contacted lexus and am awaiting answer. Car has been to dealership several times since purchased and nothing mentioned about airbag issue.

This is not an accident complaint.my car has a defect in the dash vinyl (cracks and 2 holes) that i fear could effect the airbag operation if it were to activate. I understand lexus has recognized this is a common manufacturing defect of these models but classify it only as a cosmetic problem and only offer a replacement at the owners expense. Has therebeen any reports of airbag problems in these vehicles? any lawsuits?

The contact owns a 2004 lexus rx330. The contact was backing out of a parking space at approximately 5 mph. There was a loud noise outside of the vehicle. The gear was shifted into drive and suddenly, the vehicle accelerated without warning. There were several attempts with extreme force applied to the brake pedal. The vehicle failed to reduce speed and crashed into a wall. The driver sustained intense pain to the ankle with other minor injuries. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer and repaired for damages. The contact had concern of the safety risk involved. The failure mileage was 15,000.the consumer stated the air bag failed to deploy. Updated 05/11/10.

Mom and dad were struck on passenger side by person who ran stop sign at high speed 55+.the were traveling @ 35 mph in a 35 mph zone.vehicle was flipped multiple times from the impact of the individual who ran stop sign.drivers side "curtain" airbags never deployed despite the multiple rollovers.both parents were carried off unconscious by ambulance.dad had to have surgery from his injuries.mom suffered head injury.i wanted to have the vehicle investigated as to why the airbag never deployed on the driver's side.it flipped several times.mom was on driver side and was the one who sustained the head injury.passengers curtain and side air bag did deploy.all of the witness who observed vehicle collision, could not believe with such a bad accident and rollover her bag never deployed.

While at a complete stop, the truck washit on the driver's side by a motorist drivingbetween 20-40 mph. Upon impact the seat mountedside air bag failed to deploy. The driver sustained a concusison and injuries to his/her left hand.

Right side tire hits the curb lane tried to correct it& loses control (fish tail) rolls over several times & lands on ditch. Both side airbags did not deploy that cause severe injury to person occupying passenger side.

My key to my 2004 lexus 330suv has broken 3 times.once it broke in the ignition.i have used my key in an ordinary way.lexus has replaced the keys but at my expense.i believe there is something faulty with the ignition and/or the key itself.though i have not been injured, it is possible the key could break while driving and cause injury.i replaced the key in 2006, 2008 and most recently in june 2011.i have paid $220 each time in 2006 and 2008.in 2011, i contacted lexus international and was reimbursed $95 for the $110 plastic casing i got for the new key as they transferred the wireless portion instead of replacing the entire key.i think that their key and lock mechanism should be examined, that dealerships should be required to indicate how many of these types of repairs on this vehicle have been made (which are expensive and time consuming for the consumer yet perhaps issues that should be remedied by the manufacturer) and that a recall may need to be initiated.the service manager at my dealership told me there are this has been a recurrent issues with these cars for many people and my take on it (which he didn't confirm) is that it is a manufacturer's issue that may need a recall to address it. Because i complained to lexus international this last time, they made me a new key and waived the $65 programming fee which was considerate.however, i still think the matter needs to be looked into by a neutral third party.

When i slow my lexus ls-430 down to about 10 - 15 mph then attempted to accelerate lightly, the car will often not respond to the throttle.i'll depress the accelerator further and eventually the car will respond by down shifting into a lower gear and accelerating very rapidly.i have contacted lexus and they have stated that this is a result of the "fly-by-wire" design of the throttle and that i'll eventually learn to compensate.they stated that they cannot reprogram the computer to eliminate this condition since this would require recertification from the epa and therefore is out of the question.this is a dangerous situation.

My electrical wiring has a huge issue. I am confident this has to be a hazard of some kind! a few years ago i started having issues locking/unlocking my car doors with the key fob. Only one or two doors would lock/unlock on command. After research i found this to be a possible actuator problem. Lexus estimated the cost to be $700/actuator (per door). Without having the actuators fixed just yet, a couple of days passed and i noticed my tail light went out. The next day a headlight went out. I visited our local advanced autowhere they replaced my headlight and only 'wiggle' rear taillight resulting in it to work again. Upon leaving, i noticed that all of my door locks worked again! this bulb adjustment effected the other electrical items.many months later, i have replaced a handful of bulbs and had to 'wiggle' too many bulbs to count.this exact issue has now subsided but i am still seeing other electrical issues throughout. Right now, my window motor grinds on past the window being closed and my sunroof will not work.

The contact owns a 2004 lexus rx330. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30-40 mph the vehicle lunged forwardviolently and it also stalled when trying to accelerating from a stop sign. The vehicle was inspected by a dealer who informed the contact that she needed to reset the computer and that it would take time for the vehicle to learn her driving habits. The computer was reset; however, and the pausing and lunging forward continued to occur. The failure mileage was approximately 42,000.

Cruise control will not turn on, cannot operate while car is in motion on the highway. 12

My 2004 lexus rx330 is jumping all over the road, repair shop diagnostics show the ride height control and air ride struts have failed causing an unsafe condition, apparently lexus was fully aware of the issue only making this model year with the air ride control and knowing the system will only last ten years before failure.i guess they figured after ten years most vehicles would have either installed the conversion kit or have been sold forward so many times that new owners would not pursue a safety recall.an entire industry has been created to deal with the issue retailing conversion kits so much so that my toyota repair shop has suggested installing the conversion kit which they offer. My vehicle bounces when navigating turns and bumps, while sitting still the vehicle raises and lowers independent of anything manually initiated and side to side lifts and lowers.

I got in the car at 2 p.m. After driving 1/4 mile it would not take off from the stop sign it stalled and lunged forward due to loss of connection when steppingon the gas pedal.i depressed the brake and shifted from d to 4 and it began to shake in the front of the bumper.i pulled over, put it in neutral with the parking brake on and my emergency flashers on, and opened the hood.it stopped shaking and i removed the floor mat, which is attached with clips and with my hand, i pushed the gas pedal.it had no rev in the engine, as i would expect.i got back in the car and shifted to r and then with the brake off, i shifted to 4.the check engine light was flashing and vsc light as well. I can tell you for certain my car was not overheating when i took it to sears auto center with warning lights vsc and check engine coming on intermittently.if the vehicle overheating was the cause of the damage the temperature gauge on the dash would have indicated that when i brought it to sears. Mike, service advisor at lexus of roseville stated in an e-mail to me that his technician 'found # 5 cylinder intake valves bent and stuck. #1 cylinder intake valve sticking (will stay open till piston hits and closes it). Suspect vehicle overheated causing valve to stick in guides.my car was not overheating and i think the engine is defective. I had a lkq engine installed amd it was fine for a month before it started sounding like marbles. I think my car is damaged due to a defect. I had just had a ful synthetic oil change two weeks before this incident occurred and put four brand new tires as well. I bought the car with only 101k miles for $23,000 in august 2013 and i still owe $5,000 on my loan. My car had all the service records from lexus of rockville, proving this car was well maintained by both myself and the previous owner.

Have had to replace radiator 3 times & will need a 4th at this time, since 2015, was bought used in 2014. !st replacement 2015 2nd) 2016, 3rd) 2017, and now needs again. Many websites state many different problems related to my vehicle, as well as others of a new year ie; 2005, 2006. Lexus claims vin is the only source to verify if needs fixing stated to me, yet a websource clublexus.com/forum shows a statement by lexus stating the issue is not by vin alone but by make model & year. A local radiator shop in western stated to me via phone that lexus dealership service for a while in past had ordered many, many radiators because as it was stated some kind of electrical issue was causing the antifreeze to become acidic and destroying radiator from within. This is another not well known issue with this model that seems to have not been made public that i can find. My radiator mechanic that replaced mine 2 of the 3 times stated that the radiator was leaking could not find any other issues in 2015, & 2017. This implies that the issue stated from previous stated website isn't even the issue that i'm experiencing. My closest lexus dealership is aware of the acidic problem based on statement given to me by the local radiator ship rep that i talked to.

Ibought my lexus in 2007. It is a 2004 rx lexus 330 it had 31,000 miles when bought.since i had the car my radiator was broken and the lexus dealership repaired it under warranty.before this i remember stopping to the dealership because felt the car was stalling and was told that nothing wrong its just i have to be consistent the way i drive with speed.now in 2010 i'm experiencing the same problem with the car stallingor lagging with the rpm and a little noise coming from the transmission.i really think they should recall this or do something about it because i read alot of reviews that this is happening and the car doesnt even have that many miles.i spent alot of money on this car and they should take this problems in consideration really.

2004 lexus rx-330 awd. Vehicle hesitates when attempting to accelerate.there is a delay, especially when going from a dead stop such as pulling out into traffic.also, if you attempt to quickly speed up as when merging or an evasive maneuver, the engine lags.will also happen when turning a corner, then accelerating. I have been told by lexus that this is a known problem with the "throttle by wire"and "intelligent transmission". I currently pull the ecu fuse monthly to reset the processors and that appears to help for a while. That is the "fix" suggested by the lexus rx-330 forums.now that 2006 models are coming, i know this is no longer on the lexus engineers' minds, but there are those of us that feel this is a safety issue as you never know if the car will respond reliably, especially when pulling into traffic, creating a real hazard.

My friend (26 year old male) was driving my 2004 lexus rx330 at around 9am on christmas eve morning. Witnesses state that he was traveling south on a residential street and crossed a busy 6-lane divided roadway at 80 mph. He continued on the residential street at which time he left the roadway and vaulted across an embankment hitting a block wall. He was killed instantly. Pima county sheriff and medical examiner investigated and could find no reason for the excessive speed or the collision. No drugs or alcohol were found in his system and he had no medical problems. I haveno doubt now that i have read other reports that something was mechanically wrong with the lexusand that caused this fatal accident;updated 003/30/10updated 06/30/10. Updated 9/29/11*cw

My steering started getting stiff and making a grinding sound without warning.it would then disappear after driving for about 5 minutes.i noticed this seems to be a common problem with the vehicle at the 90,000 mark.i bought a lexus because i thought the vehicle would be solid but it seems like everything is starting to go.i had to replace the sunroof, air conditioning pump, radiator and transmission after hitting 80,000.i don't want to put any more $$$ into the car at this point because it doesn't seem worth.one problem after the next.

Dear sir/madam: i am writing you because i am being ignored by a large product manufacturer. Lexus/toyota is refusing to hear my claim or even consider my situation on the car. I have not had my claim denied by lexus because they simply will not even consider my issue. I am the owner of a 2004 lexus rx 330 that has a failed engine due to oil sludge. I have always had my vehicle maintained at a lexus dealership and i get the oil changed in a timely manner.my car has 110,000 miles on it and last sunday the engine failed in the middle of an intersection. It now requires a new engine that is estimated to cost me $3,600 .this incident happened on a sunday (1/9/10)so i had no choice but to use the one towing opportunity that my insurance company gave me to tow my car to a non-lexus/toyota brand dealership. The engine failure was caused by oil sludge. I have always had my car serviced properly and i refused to be denied my right to be heard.toyota/lexus settled a case for the very same problem in february 2007. This settlement effected 7.8 million units model years 1997 to 2003, however i refuse to give up the fight, my car is one generation out of the settlement.i refuse to believe that all issues have been solve the very next year.i want to file a claim for my car.here is the website with the details for the settlement: http://www.oilgelsettlement.com/ i called lexus and they brushed me off saying that i had to get the car to a dealership and even then they weren't offering any type of maintenance credit at all. I can't afford to continue to haul my car all over town to meet the specifications of this company. I want to be reimbursed for the repairs which by all estimates will cost them less than what it will cost them at a dealership. What really upsets me is that clearly this company has had an issue with sludge, i live in atlanta where temperatures have been extremely cold which is a cause of sludge and they won't help.

2004 lexus rx 330: i was a victim of sudden unattended acceleration. This occurred on drive pavement on a street with an uphill grade. I was about to park my vehicle behind a parked car. As i was coasting to stop, my foot was barely touching the gas pedal - i was within a few feet of the parked vehicle. Suddenly i heard a "clicking" sound and immediately i felt the pedal leave my foot. The car engine revved to the highest rpm. The lexus slammed into the parked car. I tried braking and there was no response. My vehicle kept on slamming into the parked vehicle with such force that the parked car was pushed over the curb on to the sidewalk. At that point, i was able to turn the steering wheel to the left to pull away from the parked vehicle. The lexus kept on traveling on the uphill grade for over 100 ft until i was able to resume control. I did not have my foot on the gas pedal and braking did not work. I sustained neck injuries and emotional trauma.

Vehicle hesitates and accelerates erractically causing a hazard when entering traffic. Dealer tech states vehicle is performing as designed".

My lexus rx 330 has had repeated transmission and throttle problems.the automatic transmission hesitates, hunts, shifts inconsistently, hangs in between gears, delays, etc.the throttle delays at the first application of gas and the rate of accelleration surges up and down unevenly.the result is that the car often cannot avoid hazard situations.if one is trying to pull into traffic the delays create hazards.if one anticipates and applies the throttle early to compensate, one sometimes lurches into traffic.when you attempt a lane change the same problems cause the same troubles:delays and a hazard.the delay also has caused me to be almost rear ended at stop lights.i have repeatedly reported this problem or package of problems to my local servicing dealer and have been told that lexus knows of the widespread nature of the complaints but that there is nothing that lexus will do for it (other than one reflash that did not work for the issues).amazingly, when i raised these issues in writing, the written response on my service records showed "no problems".when i pushed the service personnel on this, they admitted that all of my complaints were found but that lexus claims these problems are "normal" to the design, therefore, they have been told by lexus to simply respond that "there are no problems because the transmission is performing as designed.a bad design is just that.local service people simply throw their collective hands up and say the they know about the gravity of the problem but that lexus will do nothing about it.i have been told to expect no solution and to just live with it.significantly, this is the largest selling lexus model.therefore, these problems and the hazards that they create affect thousands of motorists.

The consumer smelled a rotten egg smell, the problem was that when driving the car, the exhaustsmell entered the cabin of the vehicle even with the windowup. It was worse with them down. The dealership indicated to the consumer to changed gas. Please provide further information.

I used the floor jack on my 2004 lexus rx330 and the center pivotal rod fracture and broke into two pieces which caused the front right hand side of the vehicle to fall onto the floor.the one lucky thing that i was not under the vehicle, otherwise i could have been kill.

I first noticed cracks in the plastic in several places running vertically on both sides of my dashboard and it looked like it was wet. It was very sticky to the touch and left a residue on my fingers like pine tar. My car is not sitting in the hot sun and is garaged for the most part unless going to the store.

The air conditioning system of my 2004 lexus rx330 has unpleasant odor when it is turned on.i am personally allergic to the odor released by the system.

I purchased a used lexus 2004 rx 330 from a lexus dealership and a 4 months after i noticed a large amount of condensation in the drivers front headlight1 month later while driving at night the 1 headlight went out completely and i discovered a technical service bulletin issued from lexus but no recall. This is clearly a widespread problem and a safety issue, toyota has yet to fix they want me to pay $500 out of a $1800 repair!

Head lights water ingress, light failure

Severe condensation build-up in passenger side headlight.

After a rain storm, my driver side headlight was filled with water and the light does not turn on.the lexus dealer quoted me price of $1566.23 to replace.i learned of a class action lawsuit against toyota for failure to address this wide scale problem.please include my complaint in this matter.

Dashboard completely cracking all over.front lights fogged over, cannot drive car at night time due to this due to safety hazard.

My car has a problem with excess moisture and condensation in the headlight housing.it has continued to worsen for the past several years.lexus refused to recognize this problem as its responsibility until december, 2013 when it issued a warranty enhancement to all lexus rx owners that had this problem.that notice indicated that parts were being manufactured and would be available by may, 2014.my car was inspected and was advised the repair would be made as soon as the parts were available.in early july i contacted my dealer (cherry hill lexus)who referred me to lexus corporate.i was advised by lexus corporate that parts would be available to fix the problem by the end of july.now, 8 months after the warranty enhancement was announced, parts are still not available to fix the problem.the dealer says contact lexus and lexus says contact the dealer; the run-a-round is getting a little old.the serious nature of this problem was recognized by a us federal judge inho v. Toyota, the court saidin the instant matter, the court finds that plaintiffs successfully showed that the alleged defect posed a genuine safety risk because a headlamp flickering or going out at night or in inclement weather could put the car's driver in danger. A reasonable consumer would consider this risk material because of the inherent risks of physical injury in the event of a headlamp-related accident, or the costs associated with continually repairing problematic headlamps. Lexuses enhanced warranty followed the issuance of the court's above opinion.my car has the same type of problem as discussed in the opinion.any help you could provide in having this needed repair would be appreciated.

My 2004 lexus rx330's exterior lights have always leaked. Front and back but the front is the worst. This now to the point that the headlights are so poor that i have been advised not to drive at night. Lexus will not correct this issue unless you pay them a whopping $400 + per unit! no thank you! i soon hope to purchase something not made by lexus!

Defects in headlamp assembly caused water from rain to accumulate inside the lamp, overtime, the water caused the hi-voltage unit to short out and the headlamp is in-operative (this is for the low beam hid lights). Replacement cost is $1,800 per lamp assembly (dealers quote).this is a safety issue since the low beam is not available for driving at night.

Like many other people, i am complaining about the headlight condensation on my lexus rx330. The passenger seat headlight fogs up so that it is very cloudy. This affects the quality of the light beam at night as it makes the light dimmer. I've asked lexus to fix this problem and they quoted me close to $2000 for something that really should be a safety recall. I am not the only person experiencing this problem. I've done some research and found that there is currently a lawsuit going on about this problem. This problem needs to be fixed immediately.

The red plastic housing that the taillight is in is melted, the lights are still working, but the red plastic around the bulb has melted on both the right and left rear brake lights

2004 lexus rx330 awd suv. Massive water condensation in the driver side of the headlight assembly. Car milage is about 45k.

Lexus currently has a so calledwarranty enhancement notification -zlbheadlamp replacemeents. They don't want to replace my headlights even though the do leak water during a rain storm. There are water streaks on the inside which hamper lighting output. It is dangerous. Why did they send me this if is was not important?

The headlights on a 2004 rx330 have cost me a lawsuit against dealer. Drove car second night, 3 miles, on country roads. I had motion sickness after that experience. Every time i hit a bump the car lights would bounce, as if on a spring. The line from lights goes across center of windshield at eye level.the driver can't see beyond 20 ft. When looking beyond 20 ft. You see total darkness.when passing a person on the side of the road you can only see them from the knees down.very scary driving the rx 330 at night.

The high intesity lights (hil) do not illuminate enough down the road for the consumer to see safely.most of the light illuminates out to the side of the vehicle.

The headlights have high intensity beams.consumer can't see the turns coming up or the road.the road illumination is 35 feet, and the standard called for 150 regular lights.dealer stated they can't be adjusted.

High-intensity headlights on 2004 lexus rx 330 do not provide adequate night vision yet are set according to factory specifications according to manufacturer.illuminated distance in front of the vehicle at "normal" beam does not provide adequate obstacle recognition and braking time even at low speeds of 25-30 mph on dark roads. *nlm

Consumer has 3 major complaints on the 2004 lexus rx 330: sun glare from the dashboard obstructing visibility.the high intensity lights do not illuminate enough down the road for the consumer to see safely.there is severe hesitation after slowing the vehicle down, followed by a sudden surge of power. *mrthe dealer is aware of the problembut indicated there was no way to fix them.

Car is a 2004 lexus rx330. It has hid headlights. These are the worst headlights i have ever had on a car. They only light up road a very short distance. Especially on the drivers side. Brought it back to the dealer. They said there is nothing they can do. Thats the way they were made. This is a real saftey issue. I never would of bought this car if i new this.

The head lights on my 2004 lexus rx330 are so concentrated with little or no diffusion of light that when the road is not flat and there is a dip i can't see beyond 20 yards.when the high beams are on there are shadows through the entire field of view.there are distant lines of demarcation between light and dark.i feel that it is a real safety issue.

The headlights are my new rx330 have such limited sight distance that i'm afraid with the deer population in my area, there is not enough braking time.i have brought this in to the dealer and they are aware of the distinct cut off in lighting but say they are to standards and not many people are complaining.i feel this is a safety issue with my children in the car and am still complaining.

While there was no emergency from this problem it does cause me to not be able to drive at normal highway speeds while using low beams, as the headlights do not illuminate the roadway a sufficient distance in front of the car to be able to see and stop for obstacles in the roadway.

I am wondering if there are any regulations regarding rear vehicle lighting? my question centers around the new lexus rx330. The rear of the vehicle has no red lenses or other devices that would indicate the back end of a vehicle. Is there a regulation regarding rear lighting?

The car, lexus rx330 2004 lost its breaks.the dealer provided me with another rx330 for the period of the repair. This car also lost its breaks while sitting in my driveway.

1)backing out of my slanting driveway.2)no brakes-had to hit them really hard to stop at all. 3. Dealer towed and replaced brake boosters.

Picking up my daughter at a friends house and fortunately was only going about 5-10mph to a stop sign when my brakes failed without warning.i had to put my entire body weight on the pedal to slow the vehicle down.the car was towed by flatbed to dealership and determined it was the brake booster assembly.at the same time my fuel injector assembly apparently needed to be replaced which i had no idea of until i recieved my work order sheet.i was accused of using cheap gas which i absolutely never used. I only use the highest grade of fuel in my vehicle so they could give me no other reason for the coincidence.it seems like many 2004 rx330's have been have alot of brake issues but lexus' answer to the problem is that if the problem can be fixed then the car is running according to specifications.my question to them was can theyfix the problem of the loss of a life when this unsafe vehicle produces that problem? i have also had to have brake rotor pads replaced at 15,000 miles which according to the service tech was out of the ordinary but not according to a lexus customer satisfaction administrator.i find it appalling that lexus is not standing behind its product to have these unsafe vehicles taken off the road instead they are willing to risk consumers lives nationwide.... So much for customer satisfaction.

When attempting to accelerate into traffic vehicle would not accelerate.consumer took the vehicle to the dealership for an inspection.the consumer stated that he can not believe that the vehicle meets u.s. Dept of transportation national highway traffic safety administration specifications.*tc

This is our 2nd complaint regarding our 2004 rx 330. We have owned it for 8 months and have put 7k miles on it since purchase, and it only has 85k now. Since purchase we noticed the transmission shifting and jerking problems at all rates of speed when starting/ driving/stopping. We contacted our local lexus dealership to ask if something could be done, and was advised they could check to see if the previous 1st owner of vehicle had ever "upgraded" the computer chip that controls the system. So, we took it in and they determined it had not been done so we paid the $100.00 for the upgrade. We hoped it had solved the issue, but now it is even worse. Several days after getting the vehicle back, i was on a major highway going 70 mph with the cruise control on and accelerated to change lanes and pass another vehicle. During my attempt to pass with my foot on the accelerator, for 5 or 10 seconds the engine/ transmission froze and it was like you were in neutral gear, it did nothing, and finally with my foot all the way down on the accelerator it kicked back into gear and i was able to pass the vehicle to my side. If someone would have been behind me i'm sure there would have been an accident, as the truck was in motion but not accelerating. I called the dealership and the service department said they hadcomplaints and were aware of the acceleration issue, but had no complaints about what happened with it "freezing" like that. He said the truck will just have to "learn my driving pattern", and unless toyota does a recall it will always have these issues. This is a safety issue that needs to be resolved, sooner than later and it is just not a "floor mat" clip fix. I am now afraid to drive this truck since it's a toss up as to when or where it could happen again.

As of 3/18/2016 i purchased an new radiator for a total of $945 at mcgrath lexus dealership in chicago on division st because the old radiator was leaking. As of 3/31/2017 the new radiator is now leaking and the car would not start because the car was over heating. As of 4/1/2017 the timing belt and water pump for the steering will needs to be replaced.today 4/1/2017 mcgrath lexus dealer stated i will cost at least $1200 with labor included for them to repair. After further research on recalls for my 2004 lexus rx330 i discovered these required repairs are lexus deaker recalls. Why would mcgrath lexus charge me if these are recalls on my lexus.

We purchased our 2004 lexus rx330 in january 2013 as the 2nd owner with 78k miles. We began to notice at lower speeds the truck will jerk forward with no warning when beginning to accelerate from a stop, or even when driving at higher speeds on the highway when making land changes or slowing down in traffic. We have a 2001 lexus rx 300, and it never has had this issue. We are very concerned and this is definitely a safety issue, and will be contacting our local lexus dealership to let them know, so it can be documented. Since reading others complaints, it seems that lexus is not standing behind this issue, we may be looking to trade it in and go back to the honda crv, which had no problems at all, we just liked the luxury of the lexus, and wanted an upgrade, not a vehicle that can cause an accident with no warning.

Low speed, single car accident.right front tire hit curb, 20-25 miles an hour.visible damage- tire ruined, rim scratched.dealer inspired- tire, rim, ball joints, lower control arm, cvt, axle, etc.drive train had pre existing condition of noise coming from right hand drive area.dealer stated no problem.since accident, dealer states need to replace all of this.obvious dealer over repair or lack of trained staff, resulting in overcharges.

1994 lexus rx330 hesitates while depressing the accelerator. The vehicle has been taken to the dealer several times to alleviate the problem but they claimed that the vehicle was operating within normal specifications.the vehicle has also been plagued by other malfunctions to include squeaks, rattles, multiple malfunctions of the sunroof electronics, broken seats and liftgate alignment problems.updated 08/14/06.

I bought a used 2004 lexus rx in december of 2008.ever since owning the vehicle, at random times when accelerating from a stop or slow movement, it will hesitate and then revs up andthrusts forward.i told my mechanic (a certified lexus mechanic) about it and he said that i should take it to the lexus dealer to have the "computer program updated".i took it to them last spring and they made me drive it with them to feel the hesitation and thrusting forward and then took it into the shop to complete the reprogramming of it.but then they looked at the car's records and it said that the car had already been reprogrammed and they told me that they couldn't reprogram it again.the mechanic said he would send notice of the problem to lexus, but i never heard anything back from the dealer or lexus.my car still does this revving up and thrusting forward.there has been no accident, but i thought you might want to know about a problem with a lexus accelerator and its computer system, that they either ignored or can't fix.do you think this could be a precursor to a serious problem and maybe an accident in the future?i am nervous now that i have heard all about the problems with lexus accelerators and accusations of cover-ups.i took it to the dealer and nothing was fixed and no one had the courtesy to let me know why not.who should i trust to take it to now?am i in danger in the future?have you had other complaints about the lexus accelerator computer system?

Re: supplement to consumer complaint #10091268 lexus rx 330 transmission/throttle problems.automatic transmission hestiates, hunts, shifts inconsistently, hangs in between gears, delayes, etc.the throttle delays at the first application of gas and the rate of acceleration surges up and down unevenly.dealer could not find a problem.

Since we purchased the vehicle, the transmission has acted strange.the vehicle does not shift smoothly when changing from one gear to the next.we have taken the vehicle back to the dealer.was told the first time thatis the way the vehicle shifts.after the problem got worse, we took it back again.dealerconfirmed that we were not the only owner that has complained to them about the problem.was told to bring the vehicle in and they would re calibrate the chip that controls the shifting.got the vehicle back after they worked on it and it did improve, but still not working properly.i am concerned that this problem will only get worse again like it did the first time.this should not behappening to a 2004 vehicle.please register my complaint and i'm sure based on what the dealer told us that others are having the same problem. *la

I have a 2004 rx330. The transmission hesitates terribly, to the point this car is unsafe.i have had it in 3 times, and they tell me that's the way it is supposed to operate.they said, "i'ts trying to learn how you drive"give it time, they say, now i have 10k miles, still same problem.i waited my whole life to get a lexus, and not they are proving to be lemons, and lexus of all the companies, should stand behind their product.they are not doing anything.it's going to get someone killed.when are they going to help me and the others that are having trouble? it seems to be when you start from a stop, in the lower gears. Lexus said this car doesn't need the "update".

Vehicle periodically (approx. Weekly) surges between 2nd and 3rd gear (automatic transmission).has been doing this since purchase in oct. 2003, as a brand new vehicle, up through the present date.for years i complained verbally, and wrote letters and e-mails to lexus.they first denied there was a problem, then changed tactics and blamed it on me, then said they didn't know what the problem was or if there was a problem, then lexus finally admitted there was a problem--"off the record," but didn't know how to fix it. Every time i brought the car in for routine service, they would install computer updates to see if that would fix the problem--which it did not.years ago, i researched through government records and found numerous complaints of the same kind with 2004 lexus rx 330s. In light of recent recalls of toyota vehicles, i am concerned that this may someday turn into the same unintended acceleration problem that is happening with other toyotas.i do not feel safe in my car!

Transmission hesitation on 2004 lexus rx330 nearly resulted in high speed accident on several occasions.on july 14, 2007 while merging from i-75 in tampa on ramp into rush hour traffic, the lexus at first failed to slow (to match speeds) when gas pedal was released, then when the pedal was depressed to accelerate after the merge (traffic flow was erratic), it failed to accelerate for about 2 seconds, and we had to drive off the pavement to avoid a rear end collision.we have reported the transmission hesitation problem to lexus 5 or more times so far, and they say it is operating as designed.this situation is hazardous under certain common traffic conditions.the july 14, 2007 incident was one of several where we nearly had a serious accident because of the transmission delay.updated 01/09/08.*ljthe consumer stated in heavy rain defogger turned to keep windows clear. While driving if vehicle hits a large puddle a/c will turn off and no way to restart the a/c other than to turn the ignition off.updated 12/12/07

Someone needs to listen! i have a 2004 lexus rx330.it's had trouble from day one, and i got nowhere!they have done 5 updates on the computer.now it only seems to have trouble at 20 mph, instead of 40-50 and 65-80, of lurching, hesitating, then taking off like a bat out of hell.it's had a "bulletin" on the front brakes, and shimmied all over the road.i have paper work on all of this and more.you, the ntsb, can take the car and go thru it, i'll give you the repair records.i've called the toyota headquarters in 04 or 05 begging them to help me.a woman said, the car was, "performing in the manner it was designed:"i saved a long time to buy my dream car when i retired, now i have a defective car, with only 48k miles because of fear of driving it.please please, listen to what people wrote back in 04 about this car.one man said a friend worked for lexus and told him that his boss said there will never be a recall on this car because of the amount of cars sold in the us and canada. We need help.my car is a lemon.i've mentioned numerous times of painting it yellow and putting lemon all over it. Please try to pull up records back then, all these people were writing in with the same problems.no one listened then or now!please, i'm begging you.i've had 4 toyota's in the past, and all 4 totally, never had the trouble this 1 lexus has.they were actually toyotas.their complete stature has gone from years of loyalty by me and others, after all the built up trust, gone in an instant!one runaway car is enough!it's now killing people.i bought it for it's comfort, looks, but mostly for safety, and trustworthiness!gone.all gone!i have a 91 ford van i drive instead of the lexus.i call it a piece of junk, nothing but trouble, and lexus had it more than i did the first 4 yrs.please look into this all you can.all these people can't be wrong.i can't even sell it now.shame on you, toyota.shame on you!greed!that's what it is, greed.

The rx330 has a transmission problem that affects the safety of the vehicle.there is a serious lag between gear shifts.the engine will rev up but the car doesn't move.this happens when starting from a stopped position and also when merging into traffic, changing lanes, and passing traffic.i have narrowly avoided being hit in the rear twice because of this behavior.when slowing down the car doesn't downshift into the proper gear at times and it is very difficult to stop.i am very concerned about my safety driving this vehicle.i have had the vehicle to the dealer 3 times and was told that it is "operating as designed".the dealer acknowledges the complaints that i have but tell me that lexus has not come up with a fix yet.i have contacted lexus customer service about this issue only to be told that it is "operating as designed".this vehicle is dangerous to drive and i fear a serious accident because of the transmission behavior.is there no recourse for a consumer who has been sold an unsafe vehicle?*la

2004 lexus rx330 transmission jumps and will accelerate when depressing brake pedal. Has almost caused a few accidents. Lexus will not honor any tsb's due to the age of the vehicle. There are thousands and thousands of complaints about this same issue.

The automatic transmission has a lag in it at low speeds.this is apparent when releasing the accelerator to slow down and then accelerating again.in this situation the transmission does on engage or it lags causing an unsafe condition by its unpredictable behavior.this situation happens on a frequent basis.i have seen many complaints about this transmission problem.is nhtsa going to hold lexus accountable for putting a defective transmission on the road?i have read that lexus' repeated reply is to state this behavior is normal.lexus can not win this argument on repetition, it is defective.if this lag is *normal* why didn't lexus design this nice lag into all of their cars?i'm sure this would be a feature they would want to run an ad campaign on.

My 2004 lexus rx330 awd has a problem with the transmission "hanging" on the 2-3 upshift.the car hesitates then roughly shifts into the next gear.it has never shifted as smoothly in any gear as other lexus and toyota products i driven.i went to the dealer and the dealer reprogrammed the engine management control.the net result has been that the engine shifts at a higher rpm than it did before, but is still not smooth.the hesitation between gears was less frequent for a week or two after the reprogram, but has now returned and there is an increasing lag or hesitation in shifting in the 2-3 and 3-4 upshift.last week as i was merging into expressway traffic, i pushed down the throttle and nothing happened.it almost seemed as though the engine died.i released the throttle, pushed again and the transmission engaged a lower gear and accelerated.the behavior of the transmission is unpredictable.sometimes, but not always, the engine feels like it stalls when turning a corner.the hesitation on downshift has occurred four times now since the reprogram. The car has less than 6000 miles on it.the dealer seemed to try to be helpful, but can only pass on what the manufacturer provides them, so i think the resolution lies with toyota and lexus in developing a fix for a potentially dangerous problem.

I was traveling south bound doing the speed of 70 on the expressway when all of a sudden my power was lost it dropped to zero, it could have been a very bad accident, but i thank god it was not, i had to coast and try to get off the freeway onto the side of the freeway.

Hesitation on 2004 lexus rx 330 transmission. It's unsafe to pull out in traffic with this car. You don't know if the car will proceed or if it will hesitate while in traffic. Lexus says it's a design issue, with no fix. Lexus told us to use premium gas - then did an ecm reflash - then said it's a design issue. This car does this every time i drive it. It's great on the freeway at 60 mph, but from a starting position or a low speed position in the city - it's terrible - more importantly it doesn't feel safe. Today - it even surged when i pulled away from a light.

Hesitation problems with my 2004 lexus rx330. At low speeds of 10-15 mph to up to around 40-50 mph. Let off of the gas pedal to slow down & press the gas pedal there is a hesitation. This has happen changing lanes on a highway orturning around a corner. This hesitation has happen many times since the i leased this lexus from the dealership. I have taken this rx330 back to the dealership 3 times for this problem. The lexus dealership has called it a situation not a problem. But there is nothing they can do about it. I have voiced my complaint at the lexus customer relations in california. I have repeatedly called. They tell me how sorry they are when i tell them someone is going to die or be seriously injured in this vechicle i have but there is nothing they can do. I have had at least 4 near accidents with this lexus rx330 since july of 2004.

My rx 330 has a transmission lag at 20-25mph.the car just doesnt go and it is extremly dangerous in intersections.someone is going to get killed and i hope it is not me.

I too have had ongoing problems with my 2004 lexus rx 330.i have had my car in the repair center three times already for hesitation and lagging between gears and vibrations noises throughout the car.i personally do not feel safe in this car because it drives inconsistently and on several occasions, i have almost been rear-ended or have stalled in an intersection because the car does not properly accelarate.i have written a letter to the dealership and have contacted lexus customer service numerous times. I am being told that this is normal.normal to who?it is obvious, by many comments i have reviewed by other owners of this same vehicle that there is a serious issue here that lexus is choosing to ignore because they do not have a solution.i wonder how long they will continue to turn their heads.i drove an rx 300 for several years and it was completely different.i bought another lexus for safety and reliability factors and i do not feel either in the new rx 330.please investigate this problem before someone gets seriously hurt.

My rx330 has just come out of the dealer service for the second time due to a complete failure to downshift when necessary. Especially as i slow down to about 20 mph, and the try to re-accelerate, the rpm's go to 5500 but the vehicle does not move and the clutch never engages. You have to let off the gas pedal and let the rpm's come back down and try it again. This has almost got me hit by another vehicle at least 3 times. On the first service call they tried to do a transmission "reset" i have driven the vehicle 2500 miles since then and it might even be worse. This time it went to the shop and two technicians, one manager, and one customer service rep all told me that they have been able to simulate the problem on test drives but that it is "normal for this vehicle", however, they are still going to report it to the manufacturer. My response is that this may be "normal" for this vehicle, but it is not normal for "a" vehicle. They all agreed but said that lexus does not have a fix. This is currently elevated to the lexus company customer service and they said they would get back to me. Until then i am stuck in a dangerous vehicle. *la

Since i have owned this vehicle, i have had trouble with rough shifting and a lag associated with a delay in low speed acceleration.returned vehicle to the dealer and was told it was adjusted.problem persists.eventually, someone will be injured or killed by this problem due to unexpected hesitation in acceleration.

2004 rx 330, still having trouble from day 1. I almost got slammed into by a truck 2 days ago.the have flashed the computer, for transmission hesitation, but insist it is performing the way it was intended. It is a design flaw, and lexus won't do anything about it! someone is going to be killed! this is very serious, it happens at about 20 mph, when you need to accelerate to get on freeway, etc, it will hesitate, and act like it died, or revs up, and does nothing.then you let off pedal and hit it again, and it hesitates a sec then goes. I already have been to the dealer 6 times for this, and called 80025lexus twice, and they are not doing a recall they say. It is performing to the specs of the transmission.

Purchased a new 2004 lexus rx 330 inaugust of 2003 and repeatedly brought the car to dealerships complaining of a disconnect between the electronic accelerator and the transmission.when attempting to accelerate in an intersection or on a freeway entrance ramp, the car will hesitate for a few seconds and then catapult forward.also, when driving at low speeds, the transmission will erratically jump between different gears, as if looking for the optimal gear.i can best describe this transmission as schizophrenic.i have contacted multiple lexus dealers over the years from minneapolis, to chicago to salt lake city and they all told me they are aware of the problem as many customers have complained.however, lexus has never offered service or a recall to fix the problem.they have reprogrammed my transmission on 2 occasions and told me to use premium fuel.none of these actions corrected the situation.i feel that in a busy intersection, the unpredictable acceleration of my vehicle provides no assurance that my car will move forward when the accelerator is pressed.this can lead to collision and injury.

This has been a continuing problem since purchased new in dec 2003. As has been reported numerous times, my car acceleration hesitates from a stop or from low speeds. Also my vehicle has extensive pause or lag between gears. This has created numerous dangerous situations where i was stuck while other vehicles had to take action to avoid hitting my rx330. Often, while making left turns against oncoming traffic, this lag is so long as to be dangerous. In the past, i have accelerated harder than i feel necessary in order to compensate for this lag. This results in a sudden downshift and forward lurch that is very dangerous. I have reported this to my dealer on 3 or more occasions and their response is that this is normal for my model. They say there is nothing they can do to correct this problem. The dealer did document this complaint on my service record the last time i visited on 8/13/04.

On several occasions, i get a lot of hesitation in the transmission during high speed driving on the freeway and also driving in the city.there has been times when i try to accelerate and the transmission struggles to increase in speed and chokes up but it doesn't cut off.i've noticed that when i drive on the freeway at speeds of 55 or 60 and try to increase the acceleration, the vehicle will not accelerate when you press on the gas pedal.it will take 5-10 seconds to think about increasing and then it revvs up in rpms and then just kicks in.you can hear the engine making all of hesitation noise and also seeing the hesitation on the rpm and speedometer reading.i've taken this issue into the dealership several times and they told me that is operating per the design specifications and that it is not out of specs.they then tell me that there is an update to the transmission software so they supposedly update it to operate better. I have never seen a difference after the update.

When making a left turn or a right turn, the vehicle dropped out of gear then surged intermittently. The dealership inspected the vehicle and determined the transmission performed erratically. The transmission also failed intermittently while driving straight. The manufacturere claimed that this was a charaxteristic of the vehicle.

Our 2004 lexus 330automatic transmission has never worked properly. The transmission hesitates and seems to "bounce" between 3rd and 4th gears. We have returned the vehicle twice to the dealership to no avail. This seems to be a design problem.

Transmission problem: serious lag between gear shifts. If i push the accelerator down to accelerate to get out of a dangerous situation: nothing happens. The car seems to stall, slows down and then once the ecu has determined which gear to selectit accelerates violently taking the driver by surprise. Altogether the response is far too slow. Transmission is not smooth. This is a safety issue. Dealer checked transmission:"working according to specifications" ?! also "thump" "clunk" noise when decelerating from 50 mph to lower speeds, occasionally. Aa.

I am leasing a 2004 lexus rx 330 fwd with about 20,000 miles on it.when i try to apply the throttle after slowing down there is a severe hesitation, usually followed by a sudden surge in power.at times there is an additional hesitation while the transmission is deciding what gear it should be in.this is especially noticeable while making a turn at an intersection, and especially dangerous if there are pedestrians in the intersection.i have had it to the leasing dealer (longo lexus) and they reprogrammed the transmission, which provided a temporary and partial fix.after a few weeks, aparently the transmission reprogrammed itself and the problem returned.i took the car to a second dealer and he said that they had many similar complaints about that driveline, but there was no factory fix.i called lexus customer service and they said the same.this problem began shortly after i got the car in april 2003 and still exists.if lexus truly wanted to fix this problem, it would have already been done.they need a push.

1. There were no events that led up to the problem that i have been having.. The transmission on my brand new lexus rx 330 doesn't shift properly. It kicks when steping on the the gas pedal, there is a hesitation when accelerating from a stop, & between 20 - 40 mph, as the transmission shifts, the transmission has trouble up shifting and engine revs up and down several times before shifting3. The dealer has tried to reprogram the transmission computer, and has tried switching to high octane fuel. Neither has worked.the dealer is trying to correct the problem, however, i know of several rx 330 owners who are all experienceing simmilar problems with their transmissions. It seems apparent that there is a manufacturing defect in some part of the transmissions used in the rx 330.

Toyota/lexus needs to address their power train problem on the 2004 rx 330 instead of seemingly ignoring it. The reprogramming does not work.i've had it done. Seemed to be a band aid fix for a major problem. Will it have to be a death before they recall these lousy transmissions. I have been in several near miss situations because of this awful transmission since purchasing this suv brand new april 15, 2003. And after paying cash ($45,000) for their supposed great product i want to sue for my money back. The lag between gears, the high revs before getting into a gear is utterly insane. Can you say recallllllllll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When i drive my 2004 lexus rx330 manual on 4th, speed is around 40 mph, and left off the throttle, i can hear a whining noise from rear. Once i push the gas paddle, the noise is gone. It can be duplicated on d when i slow down from 50 mph. This also happens to the other three rx330s (two loaner cars and one brand new car).

Hesitation, jerky when shifting. Took to dealers 3 times and unable to resolve issue. They stated that vehicle is operating within parameters. Now it is jerky when shifting most of the time.

Transmission problems rendered the vehicle completely unsafe, prone to potential accidents.the consumer described the problem as lag or hesitation when the transmission shifted from first to second and or second to third, sometimes the vehicle revved upto the redline with out the transmission engaging.the dealer reset a computer chip that was involved in regulating the power train system. The dealer informed the consumer there was else that could be done. The transmission was the result of the design of the vehicle.(lawyer ira newman on behalf of client, peter janczuk)

Just left my lexus dealer for my 20,000 service. Finally the service mgr acknowledged my transmission woes. See my previous post. He said lexus is aware of the concern "nation wide". They changed? the tranny for 2005!!! they are also postponing the hybrid for 6 months due to the concerns of the 2004 rx transmission though we know that's a totally different application. The kicker is though it's still an open case, lexus at this time does not have a fix. So 20,000 miles later i have a 40,0000 suv that has a transmission of a yugo. No offense to the yugo. I was told how frustrated they are with this. I believe my frustration is greater, seeing how i make the payments and drive this car daily. Also not much they can do right now until lexus makes a move. Aaaaaarrrrrggggghhhhh. Not happy in the twin cities.

This car has a intermittent problem between 2nd and 3rd gear.the engine revs up in between gears and finally shifts into gear.the transmission is very sluggish between all gears.i have had it to the dealership twice and service manager says that this is as good as it is going to be.when the car is between 2 & 3 i sometimes feel that it will let go entirely and might cause a very serious accident. *la

Transmission jerk, lags and hesitates, car looses power when shifting between2nd and 3rd gear. On going problem, had dealer perform ecm reprogramming as per technical service bulletin, condition persists, get worse. Safety issue when trying to accelerate out of traffic or avoid an object on the road.brought car back to dealer service, they stated condition is "normal". Many many more similar complaints on several blogs and message boards on the internet. Car not safe to drive. Should have the transmission replaced.

Acceleration with this suv is not positive and you never know if you are going to move when you depress the accelerator. This suv uses"drive by wire" technology so there is no physical link between the gas pedal and the engine. When you depress the gas, there is a delay in the reponse which can cause you to end up in some other driver's path. This car is very unsafe to drive and needs to be recalled and fixed by the manufacturer before someone is killed.i took my suv to the dealer and he "reset my on-board computer and the computer that communicates to the transmission .......... This did nothing!i plan to take my suv back to the dealer again and if he cannot repair the problem i am going to terminate my lease!

Since i have bought my car the transmission has not been shifting properly. It hesitates in low gears when the car accelerates . The most bothersomeis the lack of proper response when the driver needs to slow down and then accelerate (such as turning left or changing lanes to avoid obstacles or double parked cars). In these cases transmission seems to go into neutral, and after about a second goes into third or fourth gear with a rapid , jerky movement of the whole car, which i would compare to being rear ended by another car. It happened to me and my wife 4 times and resulted in neck pain and headache, and almost being hit by another car. Lexus dealer and customer care state that the car was designed to work this way and there is nothing they can do.

Our 2004 lexus rx330 (now about 15,000 miles) continues to have terrible shifting problems with the automatic transmission.in particular, two major issues -- (1) doesn't upshift correctly, usually between 2nd and 3rd gears, but the real concern is (2) when slowing down, coasting anything above 0 mph (even 1), then hitting the gas pedal, the car simply doesn't respond for 3-5 seconds, then slowly accelerates.we've almost been hit 5 times because of the 2nd problem.we've taken the car to the dealer four times to have it looked at.the first time the dealer denied the problem existed.the second time they recognized it (after a test drive with me) and reset the software/driving chip, telling me the car "learns" our driving habits after about 300 miles, so to get the car to respond [the way it should], i should floor the gas all the time for the first 300 miles or so, which i did from every stoplight for 350 miles.it didn't work.now during my third and fourth visits lexus has declined to reset the chip or do anything about it.the lead mechanic told me they simply don't have a fix, and he knows it's an issue.in fact, a month ago (service appt #4) they said i would have to pay about $300 to have them reset the chip again (which likely wouldn't work anyway, as described above).i've been told by the service advisor he's heard compaints from many new rx330 owners about the same problem, but short of a recall from lexus, "that's the way the transmission works on the rx330 and we can't do anything about it".it's terribly frustrating that lexus denies there's a problem, even though many have reported it, and we've almost been hit by another automobile because of the problem.i just hope it doesn't take a major accident or worse for lexus or the nhtsa to do something about it.

Many owners of 2004 rx330 have reported problems with the 5-speed automatic transmission.there is a substantial "lag" in shifting at low speeds around 20 mph with occasional reports of the car revving to "redline" without the transmission engaging.this results in the vehible becoming immobile in intersections or when exiting toolbooths.there is a similar problem at around 40 mph.it has happened to our vehicle at least 6 times, two of which nearly resulted in an accident from being "rear-ended."lexus has released a software upgrade but this reportedly has not corrected the problem.after denying that there waa a tsb for the problem, the dealer said that it could not "recommend" the upgrade.

Engine/transmission hesitation; missed shift points; and stalls in traffic upon acceleration.using automatic climate control causes all windows to fog up to the extent that you can not see out of the windows.load engine noises and popping sounds.

2004 lexus rx 330 has intermittant, erratic automatic transmission. Dealer says it is a "hesitatiion issue", but rfeuses to confirm in writing because manufacturer says it's the way the car is designed. Even though countless others have complained, nothing has been done.

The automobile has a latent defect and is inherently dangerous. In november 2003, i attempted to back up in a crowded parking lot, and while in reverse, i pressed the accelerator - there was a lag and the vehicle then accelerated backward very rapidly, striking another vehicle.i assumed the fault was my own (since in moving my foot from the accelerator to the brake, my foot was caught under the brake because the pedals are close together, but that is another item) and after the vehicle was repaired (approximately $7,000 worth of damage) i resumed driving the vehicle.on june 29, 2004, again i was attempting to back up and again the vehicle was in reverse and again when i pressed on the accelerator, there was a lag and then again the vehicle accelerated rapidly backwards, striking a building.it is estimated that the damage to the vehicle is over $10,000, and i do not know what the cost of the damage to the building is. Interestingly, as well, in neither case did the airbags deploy.the second incident received some local press coverage, and on july 8, 2004 i received a call from a visitor to massachusetts from florida who had heard about the second incident and who reported that on july 1, 2004 that driver while in a parking lot had also had sudden rapid acceleration and had struck a building, damaging the driver's lexus rx 330.that driver also stated that she had heard of a third incident in massachusetts of a lexus rx 330 striking a building following sudden acceleration.the faulty transmission, coupled with the power and torque of the vehicle and the resulting sudden acceleration, is a serious defect; i will not drive the vehicle again.the response of the lexus dealer when the incidents were reported to it was silence. *la

Transmission is hesitant, switches up and down in rapid jumps, is very unpredictable!!almost caused several accidents. Been doing it since i bought it 2 yrs.dealer claims known problem, and no fix yet!!!

Transmission has a serious delay in downshifting when trying to accelerate suddenly. This has caused more than one instance where a collision could have occurred due to inability to avoid faster traffic. *tc

2004 lexus rx330 has problems with transmission shift.*mrthe transmission hesitates when pulling out into traffic.the consumer believes that simply upgrading the computer chip would correct the problem.

I have owned my 2004 lexus rx330 since october.i have had the vehicle into the dealership on (4) separate occasions complaining about the problem with the transmission.upon acceleration after slowing down the vehicle and returning to the pedal to reaccelerate the transmission does not engage.the car has a "dead pedal"at times i have even pressed the accelerator to the floor with no reaction.when you let up on it and repress then it will react.also the transmission has a "lag" in shifting at low speeds.on several occasions especially when yeilding and starting to proceed, i have almost hit a vehicle from the lag time from when i actually started to accelerate and the vehicle actually beginning to move.i feel this extremely dangerous, as i have come close to hitting a vehicle on several occasions from this.i feel very unsafe in this vehicle even with the overwhelming safety features of the vehicle.i do not trust that when i engage the accelerater to get out of the way that i will actually move.the dealer told me the first time when the car went in for it's mandatory 1,000 mile checkup that the computer needs to learn the driver and this could take the first 5,000 miles.when i returned at the 5,000 mile checkup and it was still doing it.i was told they reflashed the computer to attempt to correct the problem.then after another 1,000 miles when it still did the same thing, the service manager took the car out and said he flew the memory in the computer and retaught the car to drive again and to drive it very cautiously for the next 48 hours and that would cure the problem.when it got worse and continued to still do the same thing i took it in again and was told it was my car mat interferring with the reaction of the pedal and the transmission and told to remove the car mat.at this point i don't know what to do.the car is going in again for the 5th time to be looked at??????? someone needs to seriously address this matter.

Vehicle keeps making noises at around 30 mph. Root cause is that a transmission cooling line on my 2004 when under pressure bangs against the body of the vehicle. Lexus was well aware of this issue, so they re-designed the line on newer vehicle. Lexus is willing to replace the part but at owner cost. I believe this is a defect and lexus need to replace the part under their own cost.

I own a 2004 lexus rx330.since i have owned it, there has been a power "fade" when i make sudden speed changes usually from a slow down to quick acceleration--say a lane change to avoid slower traffic.there is approximately 2 or 3 seconds when there is no response from pressing the accelerator.it feels like all power falls away.i am left like a sitting duck until the vehicle decides what to do with my command.if i am crossing a median, i must allow for this delay.however, if i have to change lanes to avoid another vehicle making an unsignaled turn or sudden stop, i am putting myself and others in danger because i cannot count on having the power to avoid the vehicle in front of me by changing lanes and then i risk an incident in trying to match the speed of thevehicle that is now behind me.i have addressed this with lexus on several occasions including one trip where i demanded that the master mechanic ride with me.he explained that lexus is aware and that it is a computer problem for which there is no patch available. As of today, there is still no cure.the last update my vehicle received was in sept 2006.

Upon acelleration, this vehicle sometimes hesitatesand at times almost causing an accident. I have taken this to the lexus dealership and they are aware of it. They say there is no fix. I was told to use premium gas, and i havebeen told that the new software is in and that is all they could do.

Transmission initially fails to engage in gear causing driver to increase acceleration upon which gears suddenly (and sometimes dangerously) engage & jerk vehicle forward.

Around 11,000 miles my 2004 rx330 started having a thumping sound that occurred intermittently while decelerating especially around 29 mph and then again around 19 mph.i took it to the dealer and they informed me that it was my trans cooler line assembly and oil cooler hose which were replaced and the problem was resolved for about one week that was back in oct. 2004.i have taken the vehicle back about 4 more times for the thumping noise that continues to occur intermittently and now they tell me the noise is normal and that the vehicle is operating as designed.i questioned how can it be considered abnormal back in october but now that the thumping noise can't be fixed they consider it a design flaw.they apparently upgraded it and that should have eliminated the noise but if it didn't there is nothing else to do because this is how the vehicle was designed... I fear everyday that this thumping noise is only the beginning of what is yet to follow as i read all the other transmission problems that have been occuring and some have exhibited the thump sound...lexus needs to fix the problems and not just put a band-aid on each one that occurs until the next major incident ... Take this vehicles off the road if so many consumers are putting their life in jeopardy driving a vehicle that was apparently not manufactured properly and should not be considered safe to drive.

Lexus 2004 rx 330 - transmission.shifting hesitation, lexus has addressed the problem with a change in computer shifting points but it has not fixed the problem.they now refuse to help further saying only that it is within design standards.many complaints on this problem in lexus owners forum web site, but no help from lexus.

Transmission shifting erratic at low speeds."clunk or muted "clank" heard and felt under closed throttle dowshifts while slowing to a stop.most noticeable during the 5-4 downshift (37 mph) and the 4-3 downshift (25 mph).service manager claims it's a normal operating condition for lexus.technician who rode with me disagreed.vehicle only has 5100 miles.problem began at 2000 mile mark.

1.2004 rx 330 transmission slips when accelerating ,passing(most dangerous when going up an incline),and from a dead start(ie: light or stop sign).car seems to shift into neutral and hesatates while tachometer revs to 5-6000 rpm.2. Dangerious when entering freeway on ramp and almost got rearended due to delay.3. Reported 3 times to dealer, they said it is within specs.had a loaner lexus rx 330 when mine was in for service and the transmission wes perfect.constant problem.

Our lexus rx330 was purchased in august of 2003. For the last several months, the vehicle hesitates to shift gears with a lag causing the vehicle to jerk forward.we have trouble merging onto the highway as well as accelerating from a stop and while turning due to this dangerous condition.dealer keeps performing the tsb tc005-03 "poor shift quality" and reprograms the computer with no improvement. We are told there is nothing more that can be done. After multiple attempts with lexus customer service, they deny a problem exists and states that the vehicle performs within specifications. Customer service even fails to document my complaints by not entering it in the ir computer systemsin an attempt to hide the defect. Many owners report this problem on internet message boards. This is a dangerous and unacceptable design flaw that needs to be corrected with a recall.

I purchased a 2004 lexus rx330 in january of 2004 and there is a consistent lag of the drivetrain when accelerating from a standing start and when accelerating to pass. From a standing start the vehicle hesitates and then abruptly lurches forward. At highway speed there is a deceleration which pitches one forward and then an engagement which lurches the occupant back with a snapping motion. The ecm was reprogramed at 1000 mile check. When a print out of tsb was presented service manager reacted like a snake was placed on counter and then advised that reprogaming ecm would not necessarily improve problem. He was right. This is a safety concern as pulling out to pass could cause an accident.

My wife had pulled routinely out of our driveway on a clear morning with no obstructions on the road, she turned out of the driveway onto our private road and suv then suddenly and violently accelerated out of control, rocketing her into a tree and stone wall. The air/knee bags and active seat belt restraint were deployed, saving my wife's life. The investigation by the lexus front office in torrance revealed thatvehicle was performing according to specs. I had noticed a revving noise on day one of purchase and mentioned it to the salesman who said he would look into it. With no further information the dealer suggested mentioning the problem at the 1000 mile check-up. Nothing abnormal was detected, though my complaint was recorded (april '04). The revving noise continued intermittently but without incident until june 30, 2004, the date of the crash. Upon hearing of a lexus suv incident in my town, i decided to check the ntsb database. I was astounded by the concensus of complaints involving the power-train. I have been a lexus owner since 1995 (sc 300 coupe) and have driven a number of rx 300's and one other rx 330 (as loaner vehicles). I believe in the product so much so, that i would entrust the safety of my wife and children in a lexus. How many fatalities will result before a recall is issued?? the malfunction apparently defies diagnostic detection.

Since new the vehicle has both transmission hesitation shifting problems noted by many others.around 40 mph, asking for acceleration with about 3/4 throtle causes the trnasmission to come out of gear and hunt for about two seconds.this is very dangerous - don't plan on passing anyone.coasting around 10 mph, mild throtle causes the tranmission to shift hard and lurch the vehicle.lexus acknowledges the condition, but states it is not "a problem.

We own a 2004 lexus 330. On a trip july 1, 2010, our 6-year old daughter fell asleep in her booster seat and the seatbelt shoulder harness went behind her when she fell to the side. We pulled over on the side of the road to help her get readjusted. We unlatched the buckle; the seat belt was wrapped around her torso and the seatbelt locking system malfunctioned and would not release. My husband and i both worked to try to release her.we tried to extract her through the seatbelt, but it was wound too tightly around her torso.we tried to retract the seatbelt a bit so the locking system would release; however, the seatbelt kept tightening and locking with each movement until she could barely breathe and the seatbelt was digging into her midsection nearly 3 inches all around. She was literally being crushed to death. Panicked, we searched the car for my husband's swiss army knife, which luckily he had in his luggage. We were parked on the side of the road not near any facility or town - had we not had a knife in the car, the malfunction of the seatbelt locking system would have resulted in a tragedy. We can barely bring ourselves to imagine how a seemingly normal incident of a child getting entangled in their seatbelt could have turned into a fatality. Yet, this would have occurred had we not been able to cut the seatbelt. There is no other manual release available.our daughter sustained considerable bruising around her sides and back and pain in her abdomen. 6-8 inch long bruises. We have photos of this. This incident was also severely emotionally distressful for her and us. We found a recall for 2006 lexus vehicles for this failure of the seat belt locking system to disengage. Obviously, this is a problem with other models. We have contacted our lexus dealer and were told the repair is not covered because there is not a recall for this model.we are awaiting response from lexus headquarters on how to obtain the repair/replacement.

- the contact owns a 2004 lexus rx330. He stated that the seat belt in the back seat won't release. Therewas recall#06v023000. The dealer stated that it would take a week to get the part for the recall, butthe contact has been waiting four months. He feltthe wait was too long. The vehicle currently has 40,000 miles.

The service (foot) brake is not holding pressure at a stop sign or stop light when the vehicle is in drive. Even though foot brake is appliedfully, vehicle tends to move forward and may cause an accident with the car/object in front of the vehicle.

The contact owns a 2004 lexus rx330. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign numbers: 11v112000 (vehicle speed control) and 10v499000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The dealer indicated that the repairs would be completed within 4 to 6 weeks. The contact called for an extended period of time and received no follow up response from the dealer. Months later, the dealer indicated that the parts were not available for the recall repairs. The contact was unable to determine when the vehicle would receive the repairs. The manufacturer was notified. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

The contact owns a 2004 lexus rx330. While backing up the vehicle in the driveway at a low rate of speed, the vehicle suddenly experienced unintended acceleration and crashed into the garage and house. There were no injuries and a police report was not filed. During the incident, the vehicle failed to immediately stop while depressing the brake pedal. The cause of the failure was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 119,000.

I got into a car accident on the way to work.i was going 30 mph off a freeway exit and had to slam on my brake because the cars in front of me all stopped all of a sudden.i stepped on my brake pad all the way down but my car did not stop at all and ran into the truck in front of me.my 2004 rx330 went under the back of the truck in front of me, and my hood was all crumpled up.my insurance paid for all the repairs, which was over $9000.00 and now my inruance will go up.the repair was 2 weeks long, and the car in front of me filed a claim with my insurance company.

The vehicle was pulling out of reverse in a parking lot when all of a sudden the driver applied the brakes and they did not work. Taken to dealer for checkup and repair.

Lexus rx330 2004 brake failure. The consumer stated when he placed the vehicle in reverse, it moved quite fast, when he attempted to apply the brake to slow it down nothing happened until the consumer slammed on the brake very hard and it slowly came to a stop. The dealer was unable to find anything abnormal.

2004 lexus rx330 has problems with the vacuum system for the brake equipment.*mrthe brake booster failed causing the brakes to fail while backing out of a driveway.the brakes would lso lock up and the pedal would travel to the floor.

The brakes did not operate at various speeds when they were applied. Consumer has contacted the manufacturer.

Vehicle has experienced 2 total brake failures. When applying the brakes ,the vehicle failed to stop. The pedal went down to the floor. Owner towed the vehicle back to the dealer and had the vehicle serviced after being there for 10 days. Approximately 30 days later this problem re-occurred. Owner had the brake actuator assembly and pads replaced. Problem still occurs.

On january 17, 2005 i was involved in an automobile accident in my 2004 lexus rx330.this accident occurred less than 1 mile from my home, on my own street, 1-2 minutes after leaving my home.it had snowed the night before and the roadway was still snow/ice covered, it was a frigid morning.i was traveling approximately 15 miles per hour and the vehicle brakes failed to engage.i attempted to push the brake petal to the floor without result.the anti-lock brakes did not function.the damage to this vehicle exceeded $8000.days after the damage to the vehicle was fixed my husband took the vehicle to the lexus of towson dealership to have the braking mechanism looked at.during the drive to the dealership (in similar, snow covered/frigid conditions) my husband was able to reproduce this problem, again just after leaving our home.the dealership (a 40 minute drive from our home) was unable to reproduce this problem and told us to call back if the problem occurred again.today, may 24, 2005, we were informed during a routine oil change that there may be a problem wth the brakes and that a campaign was underway to investigate.i wanted to formally add my vehicle to this list of compaints.

While driving 25 mph approaching red light driver applied the brake pedal and the brakes failed.the brake pedal went to the floor.this caused consumer's vehicle to collide with the vehicle in front. No damage to vehicle struck in rear and minimal damage to front bumper of lexus.driver's right foot bruised.1 month later vehicle taken to dealership where the brake booster was replaced. The consumer sustain an injured foot as a result of the accident.

On the date of the accident i was driving my 2004 lexus rx300 approaching an intersection with cars stopped in front of me waiting for the traffic light to change to green.although i kept pressing on the brakes nothing happened and i ended up crashing into the car ahead of me and causing a chain reaction involving four (4) other cars, then swerving onto the side of the road and finally coming to a stop by hitting the traffic light pole.none of the air bags deployed.still visibly in shock, i was helped out of my vehicle by others who had stopped to help including those involved in the accident.the police arrived shortly after on the scene and began an investigation by asking other drivers who had witnessed the accident.according to the police reports, the drivers behind me clearly saw the brake lights on though the vehicle obviously continued moving.since the accident we have tried to work with our insurance provider (metlife) to do a thorough inspection of the vehicle and determine the cause of the accident, but it has been all with no avail.we have been kept in the dark as to what has exactly been done if anything.the vehicle in the mean time was deemed 'totaled' by the insurance company who has sent a check.we'd like to clearly understand what caused the accident since it was not an operator error.please advise on how to proceed.

When backing vehicle up the brake pedal locked and brakes failed.the consumer was told the brake booster failed.the consumer was given a loaner vehicle of the same make and model and had the same failure.*tc

I have 2004 lexus rx330. Yesterday, april 26th, 2010 while driving to local bank, i needed to apply the brakes.i pushed on the brake pedal and it made some weird sound and pedal went all the way to the floor and vehicle had hard time stopping.somehow i managed to come back home safely.the pedal goes to floor and vehicle barely stops.i do not see any leaks in my garage where vehicle is always parked.i took it to the toyota dealer and he says master cylinder has internal leak and need to be replaced along with brake pads both front and back.

The consumerhas to put extremepressure on the brakes in order to stop.the vehicle has never been serviced for this problem with the brakes.

I took my rx330 in for its 5000 mi checkup and the recall regarding the brake light recall.after 2 hours i was told that in an effort to gas up my vehicle, my brake booster failed at the gas station and was being transported to the dealership but i was told that the vehicle was too dangerours to drive and that i would be provided a loaner.i was told that it would be up to three weeks before my vehicle would be ready.fortunately, it took only four days to be repaired.now i am driving my vehicle with real apprehension.i purchased this vehicle based upon consumer reports safety and i hope i do not live to regret it.

I have hard time depressing brake pedal. I went to lexus dealer to get it checked. I think i paid 170 dollars and they said it is ok. But, i still do not like the brake pedal never been smooth.

Brake failure on lexus rx330.

Mybrakes went completely out while traveling down a highway at 70 mph. There was no warning prior to the occurrence. The vehicle when the brake pedal was push all the way to the floor grabbed violently and pulled the vehicle straight right. When i called thelexus dealer that sold me the vehicle, i said that my brakes had failed, and without me ever telling them what model it was the serviceman said you must have an rx-330. I replied how did you know that? he stated that they had many [problems with the brakes on the rx-330. I then asked him to have it picked up because i was not driving it any further. I next ask how long it would be before it would be fixed, he responded between 1 and 3 weeks. I asked why, he said because the parts were back ordered because of the problems. The part on my work order is for a brake booster assembly. When the car was picked up i asked the truck driver if he picked up many lexus's for brake problems the answer was yes. The vehicle was fixed in a couple of days because i raised so much heck. The car was returned by a different towing service. I asked the same question and this driver said he had 4 in the passed couple of months. Obviously this is a major problem, so i asked lexus why i had not gotten a letter or recall on it like i had for a faulty radiator and brake light switch. All people talked with played it down. I feel that they should put a letter or recall out because this is a very dangerous situation compared to a radiator or brake light. Some one will get killed over this and it easily could have been me!

In may 2007,i was involved in an automobile accident in my 2004 lexus rx330. This accident occurred less than 10 miles from my home,it was a frigid morning. I was traveling approximately 5 miles per hour and the vehicle brakes failed to engage. I attempted to push the brake petal to the floor without result. The anti-lock brakes did not function. The damage to this vehicle exceeded $9500. The brakes shake violently when applied and this has happened several times before and after the accident. At the time of the accident, my airbag did not even deploy i was going so slow. I reported this problem to lexus of seattle in october 2006 and they said i needed a front brake job, which i did, the accident occurred less than 6 months later.

While backing out of a parking space, the brakes failedthe consumer was able to stop the vehicle without a crash.the vehiclewas towed, and the brake booster was found to be defective.

Lost the power brake assist in vail colorado coming down the mountain.

2 to 3 years prior to this accident i was coming to a stop light and the brakes did not work, but only for a few seconds. I reported this to my husband and he took it to several mechanics but did not find anything wrong with the vehicle, my husband has owned a auto parts store for 40 years and knows a few qualified mechanics. 3 people were on a freeway about 1/4 mile from off ramp doing about 65 mph, we started to move over to the slower lane as we got to the slower lane i stepped on the brakes to slow down for the off ramp when i felt the brakes were not working, i pumped the brakes several times to make sure i was stepping on the brakes but instead of slowing down the vehicle kept accelerating. I depressed the brake pedal as hard as i could and hung on for dear life upon entering the off ramp i struck another vehicle and flipped the car several times. I ended up with a cracked sternum, the passenger broke 3 or 4 of her vertebra, and passenger in the rear seat was fatal. Updated 03/10/10 updated ivoq 09/28/10 update 9/19/2011*cw

2004 lexus rx330. Consumer states problems with the brake fluid after the vehicle went in for a 30,000 mile clean up.the consumer stated the brake light illuminated on the dashboard. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The consumer was informed that an air bubble had formed in the brake line, possibly caused when the line was drained during a 30,000 mile check-up and resulted in the brake fluid being slightly low. The following week, the brake light illuminated again and the consumer immediately returned to the dealer. It was discovered there was absolutely no brake fluid in the reservoir. The brake cylinder and brake booster were replaced.

I was driving my 2004 rx330.it was 1/2/2006 and the roads were dry.the outside temperature awas 34 degrees.i had driven my car to the local deli with no problems.when i returned to the car and pulled away, i applied the brakes to a bucking sound.the brake light was on.the brakes were squealing and i couldn't stop without applying major pressure to the brakes.i immediately pulled the car over to check if i had accidently put the parking brake on - which i hadn't.i waited for my husband to come check it out.he pumped on the brake pedal for a while and the brakes finally started to work again and the brake light went off.my husband took the car to the dealer and they said that they probably needed to change the brake booster.

Simultaneously without warning the pedal went to the floor while the driver applied the brakes.the driver noticed that the brakes would go to the floor in cold weather.the driver was able to drive to the dealer.the mechanic informed the driver that the problem can not be duplicate.please provide additional information.

I noticed the brake pedal had to be pressed all the way in order to brake and was not responsive. I had the brakes checked, and they were fine. I received a letter from lexus regarding a recall for the brake booster. I was scheduled for this service twice.both times i was told they had no brake boosters remaining, and i am still awaiting their call back. I was recently in a car accident in which i was in full control traveling about 25 mph and the brakes were not responsive again. My foot was pressed all the way to the bottom and the car did not respond appropriately.

Dt:caller was trying to park and the brakes did not hold. Caller hit a garage and two other vehicles.callerwas going about 5 mph. Dealer has not been contacted yet. Manufacturer will get back to caller.

Dt: the power brakes completely failed. This happened on september 28, 2005. This was the second time thishappened; the first time was onoctober 27, 2004, and the dealer replaced the brake booster or something to the brake booster. There was no forewarning, but one could hear a little noise when pressing the brakes, and that was at the moment ithappened. Ithappened indry pavement and warm weather.

Brakes failed!after starting my car and putting it into reverse to back out of the driveway, i found i had no brakes ...the car started moving despite my foot being on the brake pedal. I had to use the emergency brake to stop.after stopping the car, i observed the break pedal is all the way to the floor. The car has been towed to the dealership!

The brake booster is sticking and causing the brakes to operate immediately like the consumer is stomping on the brake pedal.also, brake check light is on. Took vehicle dealer for check up, but the cause was undetermined.

Locked brake pedal;1. On turning on the ignition, the brake peddal locked. When this problem appeared the first time, i wasn't sure what happended as the brake pedal unlocked after turining on and off the ignition again.2. During the 5000 mi service i told the dealership that the brake indicator light had not turned off (light on the dash board) once and asked them to check. They assumed this to be related to the recall my vehicle had for the brake lights (tail lights) and fixed the vehicle for the recall issue.3. Once again the brake pedal locked on jan 28th when i turned on the ignition when the vehicle was parked on a slope in snow. While i used the parking brake to control the vehicle the pedal did not unlock. After repeatedly turning on and off the ignition i was able to unlock the pedal (about 5 mins) and i then called up the dealership.4. The dealership fixed the car for locking by installing a "brake booster"5. What bothers me most is the lack of proactive response from lexus on this dangerous failure. I was lucky that the brakes locked when i was turning on the ignition, had the same happened while driving this could have cost me and my wife our lives. As the dealership was aware of this issue (from other customer complaints) theyshould have proactively checked the car when i took it in for the 5000 mi service. My pedal locked after two days of the service!

Brakes failed, and consumer unable to stop the vehicle consumer's vehicle rear ended the vehicle in the front.

2004 lexus rx330 anti-lock brakes are too sensitive and does not stop in snow or ice.this allows the vehicle to roll forward and does not allow the vehicle to stop under its own weight.lexus rx300 does not have this problem.am owner of both.

Without any prior indication of a problem, on jan.22.05 the brakes on my 2004 lexus rx 330 stopped working properly.would only work with extreme foot pressure and then very difficult to control.this happened in cold weather after the car was just washed at a commercial car wash.mileage on car about 10,500.after driving the vehicle for less than a mile, i called lexus roadside assistance who arranged for the vehicle to be towed for service in westport ct. I was told the "brake booster" had failed.the dealer replaced it within a few days and under warranty.the dealer also indicated there were other vehicles who had experienced similar problems.his was the exact problem described in the feb.16.05 edition of the new york times for vehicles of this model produced in canada.

When initially depressing the brake pedal, the pedal does not depress smoothly, instead in frequently shudders as it goes down through the initial part of the stroke, going down in a stair-step manner. This happens even when standing still, and is most noticeable when pressing the brake gently. It makes it very difficult to stop smoothly and precisely, occasionally causing jerky, erratic braking. The dealer replaced the master cylinder and booster assembly, only to have the problem become even worse!

Article in nytimes re rx330; problem with brake booster known months ago. We had a # of scary, almost serious episodes with this issue.no one told us, even though they knew!it was very hard to stop the car and pedal required significant effort.problem always happened just after starting the car at the beginning of the drive.our car was at dealer for one month, while we awaited parts to repair.dealer replaced vacuum brake booster and have not had any problems since.

I purchased my rx330 sept. 2004 with 8 miles on it, however i travel over 150 highway miles a day.i have been experiencing the evaporation of brake fluid from my fluid reservoir which caused my brake light to come on.after replacing the brake fluid every 3-days i called the dealer and expressed the problem.once taking it in they replaced the front brakes and added fluid.three days later the brake fluid had evaporated and the brake light came on again.i immediately contacted the mechanicsberg, pa dealer after keeping it overnight they stated that nothing was wrong with my vehicle, however i refused to take it until they reproduced and repaired the problem.after reading the other 51 complaints, i have several issues to discuss with them.i am very blessed that my brakes haven't failed yet!i hope that all have made formal complaints to lexus.

Consumer entered the vehicle, and upon exiting the parking lot, vehicle would not stop. Consumer had to place the vehicle into park in order to stop. Vehicle was towed, and the master cylinder and brake booster were replaced. ...part was on back order. Mechanic at dealership reported that he has seen a couple of cars with the same problem.

I had driven my car to the bank and when i came out to start my car the brake pedal was very stiff. I saw a red brake light on the dash and first thought i had somehow put on the emergency brake. I realized that this was not the case and that i had no brakes. I was still in the parking lot so no injuries occurred.after trying numerous times to move my car, the light went off and i was able to drive home. This was only about a mile. Once i was home, the vehicle again froze up and i had no brakes and could not even push down the brake pedal. There was no prior warning of a problem, no visible signs of a leak. The vehicle was unable to be driven and had to get towed to the dealership on a flatbed truck. This was a new2004 lexus rx330 with only 5,000 miles on it. The dealership put a sign on my car...do not drive - no brakes.the next day i was told that the master cylinder had an internal leak. Because it was under warranty the dealership replaced the master cylinder (i was told that there were no parts available in the country and it would take 3 weeks to ship a part) i was not given my old part and the only explanation was that the master cylinder had an internal leak. I have no way of knowing if this new part has a defect too, and if in another 5,000 miles this master cylinder will fail. The fact that no parts were available in the entire country leads me to question whether there were a number of other 2004 lexus rx330's that had similar master cylinder malfunctions. If you have had other complaints with thebrake systems on lexus rx330's i would like to hear from you.

While parked in the garage overnightconsumer attempted to start the vehicle in the morning and noticed that the brake pedal wasstuck. The manufacturer acknowledged that the problem existed and repaired it at no cost to the consumer.

Highway driving @ 70 mph driving after 360 miles and 250 miles, conditions were dry and pavement smooth and clear in both cases, no construction in the area.vehicle started with a slight vibration and eventually it led up to a significant vibrations that shook the chassis including the steering wheel.vibration worsened as the brake was applied to pull over.the first time we checked vehicle outside and noticed nothing unusual and restarted testing the brakes the first few hundred feet and the vibration was still there during braking but no longer there while driving.the second occurance i could feel the vibration build up so i started to slow down and again braking made it worse.i thought this is a brake problem so to correct the problem i tried putting my foot under the brake pedal and pulling back towards me.after doing this i immediately felt the vibration go away.however, for the next several brake situations, the vehicle still vibrated while the brakes were applied. I thought this might be the mat, however, the pedal goes straight up into the ip and the mat can not interfer with pedal travel.during the next several hundred we would pull back on the pedal.most cases the pedal would have no traval back but on occassion we would feel that it would have travel back. I will be taking this to a dealer to have this checked out.it was almost as if the booster was creating a negative vacumn pulling the pedal to the floor applying the brake. First incident was on 6/10/05 on i-80 360 miles east of chicago (in ohio) and the second was on 6/20/05, 250 miles west of niagara falls.

Power brakes on 2004 lexus rx330 failed in cold weather. Almost caused accident while backing out of garage. Warming up the vehicle for 15 min temporarily solved the problem. It failed again the next day. Dealer towed the vehicle for repair. Works fine since. I have heard complaints about this model and would like to register my own

Add my name to the list of people with brake problems in the 2004 lexus rx300. We have already had 2 major problems with damaged rotors and pads as well as severe vibration and shimmying when braking, especially at high speeds. Lexus has quietly been fixing the brake problems at their own expense in an effort to keep customer complaints to the nhtsa down and to hide the problem. I am sure after you do your research you will find many other people like me with major brake problems who didn't contact the nhtsa because lexus fixed the problems for free. As a result you will probably issue a safety mandated recall to fix this problem.(the braking problems are frequent and not just on one date as offered below)

No warning, had braking failure nearly got into an accident.dealer told me this is a big problem parts on backorder no loaner car had to rent a vehicle.

2004 lexus rx330 developed a brake booster problem.***no answer required***. *mrthe consumer stated the problem with the brake booster, is that the brakes freeze.

I purchase a lexus rx330 in april 2004 in larchmont, ny.this past summer, as i was pulling out of a parking space, the power brakes failed.i had to push my foot down very forcefully all the way to the floor to get the car to stop.after a few minutes, the power was restored.i had the brakes fixed that afternoon at the lexus dealership.i was not aware that this was a potentially widespread problem until i read the 2/16 ny times article.i doubt that lexus is telling you the full story about all the brake failures and repairs that they are encountering.

Brake booster failure while backing out of driveway at less than 5mph.dlr advises replacement boosters are on back order.

My brakes failed while traveling downa mountain road in vermont.fortunately my husband was driving and was able to stop the car with much force.we called the lexus road emergency phone and were told to not drive the car anymore, they were aware of the brake problem and would have the car towed to a dealer.we then arranged to have the car towed to our home dealer 170 miles away - but the car took a month to repair because of a backorder on the part and we were left in vermont without a car.when we arrived home, a rental car was provided by lexus.

Complete loss of brakes while driving, pedal went completely to floor. Car had to be towed to dealer, in shop for 10 days awaiting parts. Brake booster replaced.note: 5 others in shop at same time with same exact problem.

Started car in parking lot in clarence, ny on or about dec 22 in the pm.weather cold and icy.drove off and applied brakes to stop at stop sign and car would not stop.brake pedal would not push down.made a turn back into parking lot and finally got car to stop with hand brake.called the lexus dealership immediately and spoke to service person who said he could not think of any reason for this to happen.he asked me to turn off engine and start again.i did this and car and brakes reacted normally.i was very shaken and told him so but he assured me that this was just a fluke and there was nothing wrong with the car.after reading article in new york times with regard to some complaints about failure with the power brakes in the lexus rx330 which is the model of my car (year 2004) i feel this was no fluke and that there is a problem which should be addressed with lexus.i was fortunate to have this happen in a parking lot at a low rate of speed and had the space to maneuver.jb

I have had two problems.one being yesterday i came out to my car in the parking lot started up my car and there were no brakes.had to put car in park to stop car.the brakes were rock hard.they said it was the booster that had to be repaired.the second problem is i had almost 2 accidents when trying to accelerate from a stop sign.i hit the gas and the car doesn't go it lags and then goes.this hesitation is very very serious and has me very worried about driving with kids.i bought this car for the safety features and now i'm scared to drive it.what if my brakes failed on the highway i was on?what if my car lags in front of a truck?

While in motion brakes power assist functionfailed.

Whike driving at 10 mphpower brakes failed.

Recently in the summer of 2004, i purchased a new 2004 lexus rx330 suv. This past january, my brakes failed and i reported this to the dealership (lexus of englewood). The brakes would not work in stopping the car. The dealership informed me that the brake booster was broken, and they proceeded to change my entire brake system (?). Now, the brakes do work, however, the "feel" is just different. I read in the ny times that this has happened to 10 other drivers of the same vehicle and i wanted to report this similar problem. The dealership didn't let me know it was a known problem. Thank you for your attention in this matter.

Brake and abs warning lights came on. Dealer towed car in for repairs. It is a failure of the brake booster system which could have led to total loss of braking.

While driving approximately 40 mph driver appliedthe brake pedal and the vehicle failed to stop completely. Driver was ableto maintain control of the vehicle, and drove it to the dealer for inspection.mechanic determined that the brake booster needed to be replaced. This information was provided by phillip's wife lorie holverson.

Car is a 2004 lexus rx330. Brakes failed - pedal became hard as a rock and brake light came on without warning. Almost drove through my driveway fence.took to dealer and they replaced the brake booster under warranty. It took a week to get the booster. So far the brakes seem to be ok.

At freeway speeds, applied brakes, and car shook severly, steering wheel shook and moved about 4 inches, left and right. I pulled off freeway.thinking i had a flat. No flat.rotors were red hot. I let it cool, checked the emergency brake, it was off. No warning lights were on in the dash. Lexus replaced rotors, brake padsper some bulletin: tsib br004-04 43512-48081 t-1 9b t-2 13.

While braking at low speed, the brake pedal would go to the floor causing extended stopping distance. The consumer managed to pull over and had the vehicle towed. The dealership repaired the brake booster.

2004 lexus rx330 had a front suspension defect that caused the car to pull to the left into oncoming traffic, according to lexus dealers, there is not repair available for this condition.

Leaking power steering rack assembly. Seems to be a very common problem with these rx330's. Advised i need a new rack & pinion assembly. Lexus needs a recall for this issue, too many complaints!and in november 2011 toyota recall 500k calls doing to power steering problem and rx330 was on there but never received any information on it.look up recall on lexus site and put my vin and nothing about it.but reading the lexus forum and so many other people having same problems.lexus needs to look into this issue.it so expensive for people to get fix.if it happen to so many cars then it a problem, lexus needs to do a recall on this. To many people having this problem.

When the sun hit the dashboard the reflection caused a glare on the windshield which resulted in poor visibility.*nlm

I was recently gifted my mother's 2004 lexus rx330 and have been noticing for some time now an extensively cracked dashboard that had been getting progressively worse for the past several years. In addition, there are several sticky spots on the dash which appears to be melting material.i have seen this complaint online repeatedly from other rx330 owners and was wondering if there is a class action suit. There is still an extended warranty on the car. After contacting the dealership in miami they have refused to cover the entire cost of repair. This is clearly a manufacturer defect.

The dashboard leather material has cracked income apart on top of where the passenger airbag sits.

I first noticed cracks in the plastic in several places running vertically on both sides of my dashboard and it looked like it was wet. It was very sticky to the touch and left a residue on my fingers like pine tar. My car is not sitting in the hot sun and is garaged for the most part unless going to the store.

The contact owns a 2004 lexus rx330. The contact stated that the dashboard was severely cracked and was progressively becoming worse. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for the failure where he was referred to the manufacturer.the manufacturer advised him that the vehicle was no longer under warranty and offered no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 45,000 and the approximate current mileage was 51,000. Updated 06/03/11 updated 06/13/11

Approximately a year after purchasing my 2004 lexus rx330 from a dealership the dash board started to crack.eventually, it traveled across the entire dash board.i contact lexus corporate office to complain. After referring me to a local dealership to examine it and take photos and write up the damage, they later told me it was not covered under the warranty which i already knew.however, they admitted it was due to inferior and faulty material lexus used in 2004 thru 2006 in their models and also toyota dashboards.the cost to replace the dash is $2,500 this is my 3rd lexus suv but it will be my last!i feel lexus should be responsible to replace the dash boards.

The contact owns a 2004 lexus rx330. While driving 15 mph he noticed that both side view mirrors were loose and whenever he drove over a bump in the road the mirrors trajectory changed.the vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated that both side mirrors needed to be replaced.the repair cost was over $1,000. The failure had been on going since september of 2005. He called the manufacturermultiple times and they were unable to answer himregarding the failure. He also stated that the roof rack was corroding. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 60,000 and the current mileage was 85,000.

The dashboard on my 04 lexus rx 330 has be disintegrating before my eyes. It is melting and cracking getting worst everyday.

My 2004 lexus rx 330 dashboard cover is all cracked up in all directions and is very sticky due to the hot and humid florida weather. The dealer is refusing to fix this issue.

The lexus developed a series of cracks running throughout the plastic dashboard. The cracks worsened over time.

My 2004 lexus rx330's dashboard has been cracking since the day i purchased it. The vehicle originated in florida and now in south carolina. The heat and humidity have destroyed this car!when i purchased it used, the dashboard had a couple of cracks in it so i assiduously used a window shield every single time i get out of the vehicle. The task is such a habit that i even do this unnecessarily at night! the heat inside the car still completely melts the dash to no avail. Sometimes when i turn the key, my fingernail will accidentally touch the dash material (it wraps so it surrounds the ignition) and the material will come off under my fingernail. Cranking your vehicle is not a forceful endeavor either, it is gentle and i am very conscious not to touch the dashboard material because of this melting issue. One would think that a brand such as lexus would be embarrassed to have these vehicles seen in public!

After a rain storm, my driver side headlight was filled with water and the light does not turn on.the lexus dealer quoted me price of $1566.23 to replace.i learned of a class action lawsuit against toyota for failure to address this wide scale problem.please include my complaint in this matter.

Over the last 2 months i have noticed a deterioration of the dashboard as cracks and peeling have occurred . The rest of the vehicle is in fine condition. I assume that the florida climate has something to do with it. However, i must point out that my vehicle is normally parked in the basement of a condominium where i have been residing during the entire period that i have owned the vehicle. I did call the customer relations dept. Of lexus and was informed that the warranty had expired after 4 years or 50,000 miles. I happened to examine a 1990 mercedes benz sedan and noticed that the dashboard was completely intact. I understand from media coverage that there have been numerous complaints about the dashboard's condition.

The contact owns a 2004 lexus rx330. The contact stated that the dashboard experienced melting and cracking. Also, several sections of the dashboard separated and fell off. In addition, while driving, a glare from the sunlight was present on the melted dashboard, which caused a visibility hazard. The cause of the failures was not determined. The manufacturer and local dealer( lexus of cool springs, 1636 westgate cir, brentwood, tn) were both notified of the failures. The failure mileage was 92,000.

This very meticulously maintained garaged vehicle began to crack over the top of the airbag on the passengers side.it continues to grow.it is now vertically cracked about 4 inches. It is always garaged parked at work and at home.the sun has had zero effect on this over the last two years of ownership.not sure prior to the 2 years.i see from the internet this seems to be a common issue with this car.

I was driving southbound on the 405 in los angeles.i was beginning to change lanes and was looking into my driver's side rear view mirror when i observed the molding come off of the left rear quarter panel window and strike the hood and windshield of the car behind me.it occurred to me how dangerous this could have been if a motorcyclist had been following me.it could have easily hit him or her directly in the face. In researching the internet for a price on the molding, i have since learned a large number of rx330 owners have had this issue.additionally, i have learned that lexus does not sell the molding separately.instead, they sell the entire window assembly, and i have seen postings of some owners paying as much as $400.00 to have a dealer replace the window.this item should not be regularly launching itself off of these vehicles endangering others on the roadway.lexus should be retrofitting these vehicles with improved mounting for this molding instead of charging owners for the company's mistake.with the number of these vehicles on the road, it seems it is only a matter of time before someone following one of these vehicles is injured or worse.

The contact owns a 2004 lexus rx330. The contact indicated that there was an intermittent leak coming from the moon roof causing mold to develop within the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the authorized dealer on several occasions. The technician was not able to remedy the failure. The vehicle was taken to another authorized dealer who indicated that there was a rear body seam leak and that the right front moon drain was improperly routed. The dealer resealed the right front moon roof drain and rerouted it, along with resealing both tail lamp buckets. The failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times. The technician stated that the carpet needed to be replaced. The contact was not able to drive the vehicle due to the continuing leak and mold. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.updated 01/07/14*ljupdated 9/5/2017

The dashboard is cracking up very bad

The contact owns a 2004 lexus rx330. The contact stated that the dashboard experienced severe cracking. The contact was concerned that the debris from the cracking could potentially become shrapnel that could cause injury in the event of an air bag deployment. The vehicle was not diagnosed. The manufacturer was contacted and did not assist since it was considered a cosmetic failure. The failure mileage was 116,000.

At freeway speed of 65 mph a loud pop was heard from the right rear "c" pillar area. Upon examination it was observed that the plastic molding around the "c" pillar glass and framing had popped out and was dangling on one edge.pulled the vehicle over at a safe spot and observed the molding had popped clean from it's frame as if someone had neatly pushed it out from the inside.if this piece had completely left it's place, it may have hit another vehicle in the windshield that was behind or adjacent to me.

My 2004 lexus rx330 has horrible paint issues on the front bumper.paint started chipping off in huge sections and it looks terrible. This has only happened on the front bumper and the rear view mirrors.seems like the paint is defective in these area's.so disappointed.also the transmission is messed up. Seems like it hops in between 1-2 rpm. I even had the transmission rebuilt and it still didn't fix the issue. It still does it.i have heard that this is a major issue with these vehicles.

Low speed, single car accident.right front tire hit curb, 20-25 miles an hour.visible damage- tire ruined, rim scratched.dealer inspired- tire, rim, ball joints, lower control arm, cvt, axle, etc.drive train had pre existing condition of noise coming from right hand drive area.dealer stated no problem.since accident, dealer states need to replace all of this.obvious dealer over repair or lack of trained staff, resulting in overcharges.

Failure of my 2004 lexus rx 330 height air suspension components causing the air suspension to position my car in the highest setting.i have the same trouble as odi id number 10314023 except mine began to fail (click) at around 39,300 miles. I started hearing a clicking sound back in june 2008 when i started the car for about 60 seconds.after the clicking stopped a led on the dash board indicated the hydraulic height adjustment lift was off.the code the lexus technician read from the car indicated an air suspension code c1735 for suspension exhaust solenoid.the service technician at the dealership told me that my warranty expired six months earlier (my mileage was 39,514).the cost to replace the solenoid was $1100 in 2008.i was sure a recall would be issued so i did not pay to have it replaced.over the next two years the rx330 would rise and fall like it had a mind of its own. At my 60,000 mile checkup the cost to repair the air suspension was $3,000.i declined the repair at that time due to lack of funds. I opened a complaint with lexus on june 19, 2012 after a colleague of mine started hearing the familiar clicking sound in his 2004 lexus rx330.i also found the complaint listed above.our vin numbers are identical out to 11 digits with the exception of the check digit (9th position).lexus most definitely has a defect in their rx330 exhaust solenoid valve circuit.i received a call from lexus on june 26, 2012.the woman told me that the district parts and service manager had reviewed my lexus maintenance reports from the dealer and denied my request for help.i gave the woman the odi complaint number above and asked her to please have the service manager research the complaint and vin number because the two rx330 air suspension failures must be related!!the district service manager declined my request for repair again.

Failure of 2004 lexus rx 330 air suspension components causing the air suspension to position car in an elevated position, higher than the highest normal setting. Owner's manual claims that the vehicle can be driven with the suspension system in failure mode. Car rode extremely rough and not as secure at highway speeds. Vehicle required almost $5000 in repair costs. Parts failed at 41,000 miles and 5 months after warranty expiration. This particular model with air suspension was rare and only a few sold per dealer in 2004. There are several reports on the internet of similar failures. My original system was noisy from day one, the replacement parts are quiet. Most likely there was a defect in the original parts.

The contact owns a 2004 lexus rx330. The contact stated that the air suspension system failed. While driving various speeds, a loud noise was heard from the rear passenger side of the vehicle. The contact inspected the vehicle and found that the motor that regulated the air suspension system failed. The vehicle was not taken to a local dealer for diagnostic testing and repairs. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 170,000.

The air suspension has an exhaust valve solenoid on the air suspension compressor that stopped working that causes the suspension to fully extend upwards.with the suspension fully extend upwards the ride is harsh and stability.of vehicle is decreased. Lexus will only replace the whole compressor, the quoted price for parts and labor is $3500.

My 2004 lexus rx330 has noisy rattling suspension when driving over undulating surfaces or speed bumps, also the steering apears to drift when travelling in a striaght line,.dealer has checked on number of occasions but stated it is just a charactristic of the vehicle, but i have driven many other similar cars with no such noise or drift.

2004 lexus rx 330 that has been taken to dealer on several occasions concerning the vibrating the car does at speeds of 65mph or more.the care does not do it all the time and rarely does it in within city miles.but once on the highway, the vehicle starts violently vibrating which makes it hard to try and keep the car steady on the highway.the sound of the engine changes and the speed drops down to around 60 while the episode occurs and then out of the blue it clears and the car drives normal.i have contacted lexus regarding the problem and the dealership claims they cannot find anything.i want this information on record in case of an accident and something happened to me while driving this car or to someone else as a result of the vibrating episodes.last occurrence was january 21, 07.i have not been back on the highway since then but occurrence was also on dec 17 while on the highway, aug while on the highway, mar, may, july all while on the highway, it even occurred in feb after picking it up from the dealer and the problem was supposedly taken care of.i don't know what els to do here but report the problem to you all.

The dashboard is cracking up bad and when i'm drivingi be herring poping sound coming from the dashboard and when the heat is on it be making load sound

The main dashboard is cracked all around the passenger airbag, ignition switch, from the driver side all the way to the passenger side. It is getting worse by the minute! it is part of the lexus warranty enhancement program and i have been getting the run around for two years. Each time i call, its the same old story: 'not enough dashboards coming in and they are being replaced as they come in." i am number 452 out of 1400 lexus rx's that need replacement. Its ridiculous that in 2 years they haven't replaced a third of the dashboards??? its a scam, they are just waiting people out until they run out of time. Though they will tell you that the warranty passes to anyone you sell the car to but who is going to believe that?? they've wasted 2 years and aren't even close to replacing the dashboards.

Dashboard cracked

My lexus rx330 (2004) has 20,000 miles and the a/c has a foul odor which the dealership said is mold.they said the problem occurs when using recycled air function with the ac and said the manufacturer says not to use it because it allows mold to grow.they sprayed ac system w/ ac odor treatment.i think the mold is a safety problem as many people are allergic, and this is a defect with the ac system. Service dept said the problem is occurring with other luxury cars (jaguar, bmw).

Dashboard is cracking and coming apart.it has become shiny to the point that it gives off a glare.i have a serious concern as to the safety of the vehicle in this condition.since this could affect my safety, the safety of my family and other motorists, it should be corrected immediately.i contacted lexus/toyota and they are unwilling to fix the problem at this time.

My 2004 lexus rx 330 has cracked all over the dashboard

I have been waiting for over 2 years now for the dashboard replacement recall and would like to sell the car but the dashboard is cracking and unsightly.

Backing up my spare tire fell right on the ground i thought i hit someone looks like the cable rotted i was lucky was on my way to go on highway with my grand daughter and if it happened on highway someone could of caused a major accident

My car has leaked somewhere every time it rains and the water enters the car somehow and runs under the carpet and puddles under the driver and front passenger feet area.there is also water that puddles under the carpet in the rear foot wells too.it has rotted the carpet over time as it dries out until the next rain event.the car smells weird as a result of this wetness and drying out.we keep the car in our garage but it's impossible to find shelter when you're out and about every time it rains.the dealership blew out the air conditioning lines and checked the sun roof but since we bought the car used we have always had the suspicion that it was in an accident or something and never told us and somehow this causes the water leak.we don't know what the cause is but it's a shame for a quality car to have this problem. The tech at bergstrom told us we could buy new carpet and have it installed.really?..we stopped going there for service out of frustration and we have been plagued with our leaky cars wet interior when it rains. The car was this way from the very beginning but we didn't know what was going for over a year until the floor was saturated.the carpet didn't dry rot immediately but over the years.

We lately have had dashboard cracksor melting although we have garage maintained our car very carefully with very low mileage of 70,000 only. This is not healthy and very harmful to our lexus experience. By the way, we haven't had such cracks until now due to our well maintenance so that we missed dashboard recall which was expired on may 31 2017.

The dashboard melted and chemicals are seeping from it. The key was stuck in the ignition and broken when i attempted to remove it.

Dashboard completely cracking all over.front lights fogged over, cannot drive car at night time due to this due to safety hazard.

This accident was happened by my mother in law at the starbucks parking spot, shoreline, wa. She was driving slow to park the car in the spot and she only pushed the brake to finish the parking. However, the car suddenly sped up and jumped over the parking spot's fence. Then, the car broke the iron pole and hit the coming car along the street over the fence. She said she didn't touch anything and just didn't swich the gear. She was very shocked and startled, also she doesn't want to drive the car anymore. If there haven't had an audden acceleration, the accident wouldn't have happened. That's why our family this could be a sudden acceleration case for 2004 lexus rx330.

Sunroof exploded on highway going 60 mph temperature at 35 degrees.

I was driving on the 59 freeway 1/20/17, when i heard a loud pop, like a rock hitting the windshield. However there was no damage, so i kept driving. I heard a noise where the sunroof is this morning (1/21), and found that the sunroof was completely shattered. Houston has had a lot of rain and hail the last couple days, but i park in a garage, so my car hasn't been outside.

My 2004 lexus rx330 was stoppedin a parking lot with my foot on the brake about to get ready to let a passenger leave the vehicle.the car was stationary and not moving. When suddenly the car accelerated to full throttle. Within seconds the car took off and jumped a curb and drove at full throttle.as soon as i realized what was happening, i then pressed hard on the brake and was finally able to stop the car after it drove about 50 ft.i was in shock that this occurred.my head had flung back along with my passenger with terrific force. Once stopped andi was composed, i drove the car off the grassy areait was now on and reluctantly drove it home. Some degree of neck pain later was noticed. There was no floor mat issue or any noticeable obstructions to the accelerator pedal.later upon inspection of the car there appeared to be some body damage to the car.not sure where it came from or if we hit anything other then the curb though. The car acted as though it was possessed.needless to say, i will be looking for another car without drive by wire if they still exist.

While attempting to back slowly out of a parking space, my car went from 0 to at least 40 mph in a matter of seconds and hit a pole across a parking lot.although i had my foot off the gas, i was attempting to find the brake. The entire incident happened in a matter of seconds.i remember feeling totally out of control of the car. The pole behind me was driven through my suv to the passenger's seat.

The contact owns a 2004 lexus rx330.the contact was driving 5 mph when the vehicle abnormally accelerated and caused the contact to crash into a light pole. The contact sustained injuries but was not transported to the hospital.a police report was filed.the driver sustained injury but was not seen by a physician.the vehicle was towed for repairs.neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure.the failure and current mileage was 111,000.

The contact owns a 2004 lexus rx330. The vehicle suddenly accelerated into the rear of the contacts garage. The vehicle was traveling 2 mph when the vehicle started to surge forward. The failure has only occurred one time. The mechanic that inspectedthe vehicle was unable to find any mechanical failure. The failure mileage was 100,000. The current mileage was 105,000.

Ongoing intermittent sudden surges when i press lightly on the accelerator. The car will suddenly speed up much faster than the press on the accelerator pedal would warrant. Does not happen all the time. Have complained to the dealer each time since the vehicle was brought in for service, at least 5 times in the 1st 3-4 years. Each time, i was told they could find nothing, and that i just probably was not used to the car.

I was pulling into a curbside parking place on a residential street with a slight uphill incline.the car slowed almost to a stop because of the incline.i put my foot very lightly on the gas pedal so as to move forward and make room for another car to park behind me.the pedal went all the way to the floor of its own accord and the car lurched forward into the parked car in front of me, causing considerable damage before i was able to stop the car, reverse and park.police were called but declined to file a report as no one was injured and the damage was not severe.because i was afraid to drive the car again, i had it towed to the dealer where it was purchased and has been serviced.it is currently being inspected.this is the first and only time of such an occurrence.

I was on the feeder of the freeway and was getting ready to enter the freeway entrance ramp. I pushed on the gas pedal to accelerate, at this time the car sped up on its own beyond the speed that i was attempting to go. I removed my foot from the pedal; however the car kept accelerating. I pushed on the brakes and the car kept accelerating. I had heard about the floor mat causing this problem; so i checked the gas pedal and there was nothing near pedal. The floor mat had not moved everything was in place. I put my foot under the gas pedal and attempted to raise the pedal; this had no effect on the speed.i stomped on the gas pedal a couple of times and the pedal then started responding normally. I tried to recreate the problem several times with no response.

Re: supplement to consumer complaint #10091268 lexus rx 330 transmission/throttle problems.automatic transmission hestiates, hunts, shifts inconsistently, hangs in between gears, delayes, etc.the throttle delays at the first application of gas and the rate of acceleration surges up and down unevenly.dealer could not find a problem.

Vehicle has experienced unintended acceleration three times during the two years that i have owned it.. This happened on occasions when i had slowed downand then slightly depressed the gas pedal to resume speed.with the gas pedal slightly depressed, i felt the pedal go further down by itself, leaving my foot and the car going faster.i said, "whoa! what was that?, and then assumed that the car had some sort of overdrive that caused it to do that.on two of the occasions this occurred when i had slowed to exit a freeway, andthen slightly depressed the gas pedal to resume speed and get onto an access road. I have called the lexus dealer and am taking it in to be checked.

The contact owns a 2004 lexus rx330. The driver stated that her vehicle would not start. The vehicle has been serviced on a regular basis for routine maintenance. The floor mat clip which was recalled. The vehicle has accelerated for quite some time. While driving approximately 60 mph, she engaged the brakes to slow down the vehicle and it accelerated on it's own. The dealer was notified and they stated that they were unable to repair it since the vin does not apply to the recall. A crash also occurred while driving 65 mph when the vehicle accelerated. Twopassengers were in the vehicle; however, there were no injuries. The failure mileage was 30,000. The current mileage was 50,000.

Since i bought my car from jm lexus in margate, fl in 2005, it has had the constant problem of sudden short bursts of acceleration. Another problem with the car is that often times, when i try to speed up, the car continues to drive at the same speed, and doesn't accelerate.i am afraid either one of these problems can cause me to hit someone or be hit by another car. I have reported this problem to the dealership and they inspected it and was told nothing could be done about it.i worked at southeast toyota when i told one of the employees about the problem and he said it was in the electronic system and that nothing could be done. I did not believe there was no fix for this then and i especially don't believe it now, in light of all the reports of malfunctioning toyotas and lexuses.

I own a rx 330 lexus and it has a problem with the accelerator. Sometimes it gets stuck at about 3 rpms and it wont come down from there until something lets go of it and then it jerks even though i would be going at a low speed such 25mph. The accelerator feels rigid and no matter how much you push on it the speed doesn't increase until it jerks and lets go. Other times it tends to go faster even though i am not pressing on it, when i brake it doesn't want to stop until i slam on the brakes hard. I can feel that it is like something is stuck and the car does what it wants until it is let go which is when it jerks.i have not had a crash yet, but i am concerned about it.

The failure mileage was 15,000.the consumer stated the air bag failed to deploy. Updated 05/11/10.

No failure, just apparent stickiness in accelerator. Occasionally, while pulling out from signals, pedal feels as if it is sticking, then will pop loose and car lurches forward.

Cruise control will not turn on, cannot operate while car is in motion on the highway. 12

I was turning into a parking space at work and my 2004 lexus rx330 suddenly made a revving noise and accelerated into a tree in the median and then smashed head on into the car in the opposite space. The bmw that my car hit was completely totaled.my forward momentum was stopped by the bmw because my car climbed on the tree and ended up on top of the bmw. I was not on the phone and had no alcohol or drugs in my system and there was no passenger in the car to distract me.i am a 58 year oldhealthy woman who has been driving for 42 years. I took the car into my lexus dealer and they checked the computer and claimed there were no defects. They told me i had probably stepped on the gas instead of the brake or the floor mat had gotten stuck on top of the accelerator pedal. I checked the pedal (as did a co-worker) right after the accident and the mat was not on or near the pedal. In addition,i do not believe i hit the gas instead of the brake as the parking spot had an uphill grade and i most likely was not yet ready to brake when the acceleration occurred.the weather was clear and sunny.my brother, who is an airline pilot, suggested that it could have been the drive-by-wire electronics malfunctioning but the lexus dealer assured me that could not possibly have been the case. Now,hearing about all of the other acceleration problemsi believe my complaint should be added to the list of lexus/toyota unexplainedunintended acceleration problems.if someone had been in front of me or in the car i hit they would have been badly injured or killed.i have pictures of the damage if you would like to seem them.

Auto dimming side mirrors fail causing the mirror to show double headlights.this makes the mirror extremely difficult to use. Seeing 4 headlights instead of two causes the driver to spend excessive time looking into the mirror to determine if it is safe to change lanes.research on car forums indicates the failure of these autodimming mirrors is the result of heated side mirrors.excessive heat causes the gel in between the glass to leak, causing the double head light effect.

In heavy rain, with defogger turned on to keep windows clear, if the car hits a large puddle, the ac shuts down and the defroster starts blowing hot, moist air.all windows fog over immediately.no way to continue driving.ac can only be restarted by turning ignition off then back on.this happened on local roads several times, then in mid august 2007, it happened on the interstate at approximately 70 mph.i had to pull over to the grass median by rolling down the drivers window and sticking my head out into the rain.after turning ignition off and on, the defroster works again.lexus dealer reports that this is normal operation designed to protect the engine in case the ac compressor locks up.they refuse to correct the situation.i no longer drive the car in the rain.this is an extreme safety hazard.

I own 2 lexus 2004 rx330. Both of cars have the passenger mirror change color (change to darker color). One happen about 3 year ago. One happen about a year ago.

The outside rear-view mirrors on the lexus 2004 rx330 are hazardous. If the mirror adjustment switch on the dash is not in the neutral position, the outside mirrors rotate downward when the gear lever is placed in reverse. In theory, this would be helpful if the curbside mirror rotated enough so that the driver could view the curb when parking. The problem is that the engineer who designed the system thought the curb would be on the left side--which it would be if you were driving the car in japan. Anyway, that left-side mirror rotates so far downward that the driver is looking at the pavement beside the car, and that pavement can easily be mistaken for a blank horizon. The driver is thus prevented from seeing a pedestrian or obstruction on the left-rear side of the car. The dealer refuses to fix the problem, saying there is no fix. Of course there is a fix--lexus just does not want to pay for it. The only way to get this fixed is for nhtsa to force a recall.

On july 10,2004 i picked up my new vehicle, a lexus rx 330 from the bayridge lexus dealer in nys. Within a 1/2 hour, while testing the safety features of vehicle, i had placed a large stuffed animal (in place of a human body part of a adult or child). Although all the windows andremote rear door automatically opened when coming into contact with foreign object ( stuffed bear), the sunroof jammed the bear between the closing glass and frame i immediately brought the vehicle back to the dealership with the stuffed animal still jammed in the sunroof back to the dealership the service technician were unable to dislodge the stuffed animal's head from the jammed sunroof (imagine if this was a child's body part???) and had to dismantle the sunroof to remove the stuffed animal and had me return on the 12th determine the cause and to fix the sunroof.since that time, this same vehicle has been repaired by the same lexus dealership a minimum of 6 times for problems with the sunroof. All the while i was returning with the vehicle to be get sunroof repaired, i was under the impression that they had reported this obverous safety defect that a foreign object (stuffed bear over 2 1/2' in length and as soft as a child's hand) would get jammed between the closing glass and the frame of the sunroof without a safety feature to automatically open the window if a foreign object gets in way of closing as with the remote truck closing system and the automatic windows this vehicle is factory equipped with.nys has the lemon laws for new vehicles sold that are defective.it was during this process in collecting my service records from bayridge lexus that i discovered that they never looked into this matter as a safety defect, nor was it reported (to the best of my knowledge) to any official agency that car manufactures are required to report possible safelty defects.
