At highway speed/70-75mph, engine rpms surged up and down without accelerator depression several times. Check engine light came on. An hour later, upon reaching destination, i slowed in a high traffic area, with traffic lights. Approaching the light and cars ahead, the brake failed and pedal sunk all the way to the floor, while rpms surged. I was able to gain control of car by placing the car in neutral. I immediately took it to a garage where they were able to duplicate the problem. They suggested i take it to a lexus or toyota dealer. Despite a large repair bill at toyota, i am not convinced that the issue was addressed, as they were not able to duplicate the problem, and just made engine/oil repairs. I also had them do additional work, hoping to solve it, with belts and timing chain. My two young daughters are now driving this vehicle. I hope you will continue investigating this unexplained acceleration. I have been driving for more than 40 years and have never experienced this. It was not the floor mat!
