I have a 2008 lexus ls46l with 1319 milesin which i was t-boned.when i got the green i proceed through the intersection.a vehicle approaching from the right failed to stop and t-boned my vehicle.no air bags went off and the sos system failed to work.the vehicle has now been repaired but it is at the dealership awaiting a new srs system since the srs light will not go off. (did not register or work at the time of the accident) what it is saying is that an airbag has been deployed.my question to lexus was why was i driving a new vehicle with a defective srs system.which leads me to ask are there other lexus ls460s out there with a defective srs module?what if i was in a head on collision?
I had remarked to the local dealer that it made a clunk noise when starting the vehicle and depressing the brake pedal. This was at 63k mi when i purchased it.i was told it was normal. Approximately 1 year and 10k mi. After i started to experience squealing when braking. I was told by the dealer that no issues were found and that it was most likely caused by cheap aftermarket brakes.i brought the vehicle in for the brakes again and was told that they found nothing wrong, probably just cheap pads.approximately 3k mi. Later when driving at approx. 35mph. Warning lights illuminated, and stated to take immediately to the dealer. When i took it i was informed there were codes regarding an electrical malfunction and leak, but they found no evidence of the problem.they reset the car and attempted to re-illuminate the warning lights, which they were unable to do. Approx. 1k mi. Later the warning light re-illuminated.when i spoke to the dealer they asked if i had any driveability, or braking issues, which i did not, the car drove and braked normally. I was told they could look at the codes again and reset them, but they would most likely come back on again if it was some other type of malfunction. I was planning on putting the car away for the winter and addressing the issue then, the dealer agreed that it was most likely the best to bring it in prior to taking it off the road for winter. Once again approx. 1k mi. Later a constant beeping started while driving shortly after a hard braking incident.it stopped, but started again 2 wks later while driving home as i approached an exit ramp. I depressed the brake pedal to find i had no braking ability. Pedal to the floor. I entered the 1/16th of a mile ramp at 65mph. I swiftly downshifted enough that i made the turn at the end t on to my street with only minimal fishtail and found that the vsc was still functioning.

The first was brake malfunction, then check vsc system, then check brake system. The brakes got real soft and the car acted like it didnt want to stop
Brake actuator failure is a known issue by lexus and lexus says they will not replace mine. Its a safety issue and should been a recall instead of 'warranty enhancement' with limitations to get lexus out of fixing something they know is faulty and a safety issue.
This has happened over 5 times since owning the vehicle.after oil changes and off/on throughout owning the car it will have a hesitation on the acceleration. It will have high rpm's, but it is not going anywhere (loud engine noise). This is very dangerous if it decides to do this when passing someone on the highway and this morning it did it while pulling out into traffic and almost got hit as the vehicle did not move.
After the vehicle has an oil change, the car will (intermittently) hesitate to accelerate. This is especially dangerous when you are trying to merge into the freeway or similar occasions.when attempted to depress the gas pedal with expectation that the car will respond and accelerate as normal, the engine just revs up and the vehicle doesn't move any faster than current speed.this will continue for 5-10 seconds then it kicks in.this delays is very dangerous when you want to getout of harms way (accelerate to merge into freeway, passing etc).the problem is intermittent and will go away by itself within a few hundred miles (but will come back sporadically).all this happens by itself and cannot be reproduce at will.however the occurrences often happen after oil change or so (but not necessary).i have bought the car into the lexus dealership(s) to fix (yes 5 times at different dealership) but they cannot fix this issue.
After a manufacture recall for the valve spring replacement, i had my first oil change.directly after the oil change, i noticed that around 35 mph when i needed to pass a vehicle, i would step on the gas (most of the time pushing the accelerator pedal to the floor) the car was very sluggish and unresponsive.it would take about 10 seconds for the vehicle to slowly accelerate and then the car would take off with the rpms climbing near red line until i released my foot off the accelerator.if i set the cruise control at around 35-40 mph the cars engine surges.i can hear the automatic gear shifting going on as well.this happens much more frequently when it's hot and humid outside.this is an every day occurrence.i have taken my car to the repair facility, they have hooked up the computer to my car but it shows nothing.there are no associated engine lights with the surging.i only use 98 octane premium unleaded fuel, the vehicle has been looked over numerous times but still nothing.i have almost been in some accidents because of the problem.i'm worried for the safety of the vehicle.
The contact owns a 2008 lexus ls460. 2008 lexus 460 ls - complaint regarding danger of death due to carbon monoxide.this car is keyless which often results in the failure of their driver shutting off the engine which is at times parked inside an enclosed garage of a home. This occurred on three different occasions at my home. Thank god i had a carbon monoxide alarm in my home which alerted me of this problem . Lexus should have installed some sort of switch which would automatically shut off the engine when the driver seat has been unoccupied for fifteen minutes. Lexus states they have received many complaints throughout the country, however there is nothing they can do about this problem and danger . Existing cars should be recalled and repaired and this should be mandatory for all future cars with a keyless system.
The contact owns a 2008 lexus ls460. The contact stated that the number 7 valve broke off into the engine and then broke a piston. This failure occurred after the contact had recall campaign 10v309000 repaired, which was related to the valve springs on the engine. The failure was diagnosed by the dealer and manufacturer, but they were unable to repair the failure. The vin was not available . The failure and current mileages were 23000.
The contact owns a 2008 lexus ls460. The contact stated that the vehicle had problems with overheating. It would also not accelerate when the accelerator pedal was depressed. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who staed that the radiator overflow tab clip had been broken by the dealer who had performed a recall repair and it was super glued back on. The contact was also informed that a new radiator was needed. The contact called the manufacturer who offered no assistance. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.
Continuous acceleration with foot off accelerator pedal currently as of 3/21/10. Vehicle will not slow down with foot off accelerator maintains speeds of 20-24 mph with foot off the accelerator.slowing down the vehicle will lurch from 2nd to 1st gear while trying to come to complete stop followed by a clunk from transmission.transmission will downshift while coasting then rpm's will jump giving a slight acceleration feel and continue at speeds of 20+mph until brakes are applied. Experiencing harsh and sloppy shifting from transmission.loses power and will not kick down or will finally kick down and not let go of gears then will up shift and the rpm's will spike.dealer has lubed drive train and flashed transmission in attempts to correct the problem.only occurs while a/c compressor is on.dealer at a loss for a fix, requested i contact lexus to open a case.contacted lexus, no response.factory carpet mats are clipped in place, nothing obstructing accelerator pedal. *dt

I drive lexus 460 ls. It has 30,000 miles with a recent service. On the day of accident , iwas driving to work at 7am. I had gas tank filled up the night before. The car started jerking when i left the house. A warning light came to take the vehicle to dealership for check up. Since the dealership was on my way to work, therefore i decided to go ahead and drive.after 10 miles the car started to stop and i was barely able to take an exit and stopped at the curb to avoid some one hitting me from behind. My car was towed to lexus service station and i was told by them that gas was either diesel or had high contents of ethanol. I called florida better bureau. They analyzed the gas from the gas station and i was told that there was nothing wrong with gas. The dealership has refused to take the blame that there was a major engine failure. I wanted to bring this incident to your attention and wanted to know if some one else has reported a similar mishap. I want your department to investigate this accident so that it does not happen to anyone else. I was very lucky to escape a life threatening accident but some one else may notbe that lucky. Lexusshould be held responsible for the engine failure. Thanks for your help.
When starting my 2008 lexus ls 460l, the vehicle starts and immediately shuts down (stalls).this usually happens when the vehicle has been sitting for long periods of time; e.g., overnight, 9 hrs at work. On may 30, 2010, after sitting overnight, the vehicle started up fine for a trip to the grocery store.fifteen minutes later, i returned to the vehicle, started the vehicle, and it immediately shut down.the vehicle was repaired by lexus of rockville on may 20, 2010, but as of may 30, 2010, the problem continues to persist. Lexus of rockville replaced all fuel injector assemblies.

I have 30,000 miles lexus 460 - vehicle does not always accelerate properly. Loses power and will not kick up for a few seconds until finally kick up. This has happened at least 5 times in 3 months. Not safe when you count on the car to speed up to get into the freeway or into a street with traffic.no accidents so far but i am afraid that when the power is needed it will not be there. Close accident in the freeway as the car failed to speed up when getting into the fast lane. Most of the times the issue has been around 20mph and needed to ramp to get into the flow of traffic.i am not sure what gears are involved between 20 mph - 40 mpg but that is a critical speed to fail -it will cause an accident if continues.
We've purchased a 2008 lexus 460 on jan 2008, within few months we started noticing a jerking reaction of the engine while the car was stopped or idling in gearmost of the time. Over time we've taken the car to the dealer (at least 4 times) with no substantial improvements, they've upgraded the transmission software checked it out and could not come up with a fix.the last was in november 09 and we were told to contact the co. Fo factory rep to inspect the car. So far they have not inspected the car and we are afraid that it may cause to an accident.

My 2008 lexus ls460 is and has been bone jarringly uncomfortable since i leased it on july 3, 2008. The manufacturer refuses to do anything and the dealer says there is a "fix" , but the manufacturer but the manufacturer, lexus, (toyota) will not allow them to fix the car. I have had 4 spinal surgeries and every time i ride over a pothole, manhole cover, driveway lip or bump in the road my body is severely jarred.

The contact owns a 2008 lexus ls460. The contact stated that various warning indicators and gauges illuminated on the instrument cluster and display panel. The dealer (lexus of palm beach, 5700 okeechobee blvd, west palm beach, fl 33417, (561) 291-6004) inspected the vehicle, cleared the codes, and indicated that the brake actuator assembly needed to be replaced. The dealer and the manufacturer indicated that the vehicle had been included in a ten year warranty; however, due to a statute timeframe, the vehicle was currently excluded. The manufacturer suggested replacing the part. The approximate failure mileage was 64,000.
I purchased this car in 2018 and it had less than 75,000 miles on it.i've recently noticed that whenever i press the brake pedal, there is a clicking/popping sound.i'm unsure what it is.i know that it shouldn't be happening. I've read on this site that it maybe the brake actuator.is there a recall for this problem since it's been brought to lexus/toyota attention?
Brakes making ticking noise when backing
I have 111000 miles on my ls 460 2008. I noticed a squealing sound when i hit the brake and slides a little when u press the brake it feels like it don't wanna stop and i was told it's the brake actuator
I have 2008 lexus ls 460 which has mileage of 36,345.i had a sudden failure of brake system and warning light said "bring the car to the dealer" they found abs actuator failure. Lexus issued "warranty enhancement" about this problem in 2017. But they would not cover my car because the warranty enhancement expired 5 months ago in spite of my car's low mileage.i think nhtsa should recommend "recall" to lexus because serious safety concern of this problem.apparently many of the owners of this vehicle have had this problems but had a lot of problems with the dealership to fix it.i would appreciate very much if you would consider seriously and help consumers.thank you(xxxx)parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)
While driving at highway speeds (70 mph) i encountered illumination of brake/abs warning lights on the dash advising me that the safety brake/abs/traction features on my car are non operational. Upon pulling over, i read a message displayed on the dash alerting me to take my car to the nearest lexus dealer.upon arrival at the lexus dealership, i was advised by the service advisor that this is a common problem on this model and more likely then not the faulty brake actuator will need to be replaced. This was confirmed the following business day when i received a call from the service advisor confirming that the brake actuator has failed. Upon questioning the advisor of the cause, he once again acknowledged that this is a common problem and that lexus has issued an updated part as a replacement. It concerns me that lexus has not performed a voluntary recall on said brake actuator since this is a critical safety device and they (lexus) acknowledge that there is defect to the original part by providing an "improved" brake actuator assembly. Furthermore, by performing a simple internet search i encountered numerous topics about identical issues as mine on the model/year (2007-2010 lexus ls460).i would like to duly request that ntsb performs an inquiry with lexus regarding brake actuator issues stated above.
I was parked with the engine running for approximately 18 minutes when suddenly, i heard a beeping sound in the car it would not stop!!! i turned my engine off in hope to reset whatever it was but as soon as me foot touched the brake the beeping resumed. It was raining and i had not clue of what it was. At this point, all of the brake light on my dash came on . I went out of the car popped the hood and didn't immediately recognize anything. I then went back in the car and with the beeping still in my ear, decided to head home. That's when i noticed i could not stop my car !!! the brake was stiff and i literally had to force my car to stop by applying as much pressure as physically possible to my brake pedal. I took the car to my mechanic and after diagnostics he stated it's the abs pump and brake actuator.
The contact owns a 2008 lexus ls460. The contact heard an abnormal noise when the brake pedal was depressed. The dealer stated that the brake actuator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 75,000.
Every time you're pressing the brake you get a clicking and a knocking noise they'll tell you that is normal are there not sure what it is but we need to get online and read about it everybody is complaining about it because they say sometimes you can replace the actuator but that's about $4,000 lots of complaints online writing about this, i just bought the car a week ago

The manufacturer was notified and stated that the vehicle was out of warranty. No assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 72,034.
Brake actuator failure is a known issue by lexus and lexus says they will not replace mine. Its a safety issue and should been a recall instead of 'warranty enhancement' with limitations to get lexus out of fixing something they know is faulty and a safety issue.
The contact owns a 2008 lexus ls460. While driving approximately 30 mph, the brake pedal was depressed and there was an excessive delayed response. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanicwho diagnosed that the abs actuator would need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 130,000.
I noticed that when i push the brakes i hear clicking noise and brakes acts heavily. I did a research on this issue and i found many complaints from lexus owners. Some owners were lucky to have lexus dealer replace the abs actuator for them and other not. Lexus dealers told some ls460 owners that they changed the vendor of the abs actuator due a malfunction error.currently i'm concerned to drive the car on the highway as a fear to loose braking power. I tried to contact lexus but they don't care. Please help[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
When driving on a highway, warning lights "check abs" "check vsc system" "check brake system" "brake malfunction" "stop the vehicle in a safe place immediately. Contact a dealer" suddenly came on and a 5 other lights also came up. It was scary me so much. I had to pull over and stop. After checking to sure the brake still function, i slowly drive home with the emergency light on. Came home, i did a little research on the internet, and it turned out this is a known and very common problem for this car, and lexus continue to deny the problem, and failed to recall to fix the problem. It's brake actuator that failed around 114,830 miles. I really don't know what to do now other than to take the car to the dealer this saturday.
I drove my car over to pick my grandson up we went to the park, when i was taking him home the vsc code came on and said take care to dealer for service, engine light came on as well. I call and made an appointment immediately and they told me to leave the vehicle and they would run diagnostics see what was causing it.the next day they cleared the code called and told me to pick up.when i was leaving the same lights came on again (engine, vsc etc).got out of the car and told service rep. That the same thing was happening again.i left the car over the weekend and they call and said it was a communication error and the computer wasn't communicating with the parking brake.i truly believe this is a safety issue and should be addressed by the manufacturer.
Abs brake light warning came on then brakes failed soon after.
While braking gradually, with the brake pedal in a steady position, the car lurches/pulses, the tires makesloud skidding sound then the car comes to a hard stop as though it has slammed into something. This has happened on multiple occasions at low speeds, where it feels like im pressing the brake and letting go, and pressing again, but in reality, the brakes are being pressed at a constant pressure. This is different than the abs feeling, as the brake pedal does not travel beneath my foot, and the release and grabbing of the brakes seem very slow. It happen the first time with about 50,000 miles, going about 25-30 mph.then with 86,000, going about 5-7 mph.
Brake actuator is faulty and lexus knows this but refuses to fix or repair. I have to spend 3k to have it done myself. Please help make them accountable and reimburse us for the service and parts.
Squeal noise when pressing brake pedal, coming from brake actuator. Bleeding the brake does not help.expect brake failure every time i push the pedal. Annoying noise from such expensive vehicle.really, lexus!this failure and unhappy customers is discussed all over lexus forums, lexus know about it but prefer not to acknowledge it!
I am experiencing a click or series of clicks when i depress the brake pedal. Based on accounts and research of other owners, this is a common problem with faulty brake actuators. It appears that lexus is aware of the situation and i wanted to report this to the nhtsa database to potentially steer this towards a recall.
While braking gradually to a stoplight, with the brake pedal in a steady position, the car lurches/pulses to a stop.this has happened on multiple occasions at low speeds, where it feels like the driver is pressing the brake and letting go, and pressing again, but in reality, the brakes are being pressed at a constant pressure. The car takes longer to brake than the driver intends, since the brakes slowly pulse.this is different than the abs feeling, as the brake pedal does not travel beneath the driver's foot, and the release and grabbing of the brakes seem very slow.
The contact owns a 2008 lexus ls460. While driving approximately 35 mph, the brakes seized and released. All of the instrument panel indicators illuminated, including the "please stop and call the dealer immediately" warning message. The vehicle was taken to wilde lexus sarasota (941-924-3040, located at 4883 clark rd, sarasota, fl 34233) where it was diagnosed that the brake actuator needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the extended warranty was expired. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000. The vin was not provided. Updated 12/3/18
The contact owns a 2008 lexus ls460. While backing out of the driveway at approximately 5 mph, the emergency brake became inoperable. The parking brake indicator illuminated after the failure. The vehicle was taken to lexus of clear lake (18160 gulf fwy in houston, tx) where it was diagnosed that the parking brake failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The vin was unknown. The approximate failure mileage was 200,000.
While driving at highway speeds (70 mph) i encountered illumination of brake/abs warning lights on the dash advising me that the safety brake/abs/traction features on my car are non operational. Upon pulling over, i read a message displayed on the dash alerting me to take my car to the nearest lexus dealer. Upon arrival at the lexus dealership, i was advised by the service advisor that this is a common problem on this model and more likely then not the faulty brake actuator will need to be replaced. Furthermore, by performing a simple internet search i encountered numerous topics about identical issues as mine on the model/year (2007-2010 lexus ls460). I would like to duly request that ntsb performs an inquiry with lexus regarding brake actuator issues stated above.
While in motion, brakes started pulsating and "clicking", then brake pedal feel got very firm and had difficulty stopping, almost resulting in accident. Toyota has released warranty enhancement program for the brake actuator assembly, but my vehicle is just beyond the 10yr/150k mile period. I feel this is a serious safety matter and nhtsa should have worked with toyota on a safety recall remedy. If brakes fail, the consumers will be seriously injured or die. Vehicle only has 60k miles and this is a known defect!
The contact owns a 2008 lexus ls460. While driving approximately 55 to 60 mph. The anti-lock brake system warning indicator illuminated, indicating to "stop the vehicle and contact the dealer". The vehicle was towed to nalley lexus smyrna in smyrna, ga (phone: 404 994-4322) where it was diagnosed that the brake actuator failed. The brake actuator was replaced; however, the repair did not correct the failure. The contact heard a clacking noise while braking and reversing. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that the brake enhancement warranty program ended in december of 2017. The approximate failure mileage was 107,000.
The brakes have a chattering noise and feel through the pedal while stopped, when you release them.the car can be in park, and it still does it.it's a known problem, but toyota is doing their best to avoid repairing it under the newly extended warranty on the "brake actuator".it's 100% repeatable, as many times as you like, if the engine is running and the brake pedal is pushed and released.
Pulsating brakes uneven braking resulting in a lurching motion when stopping.
The contact owns a 2008 lexus ls460. The contact stated that the surface of the dashboard began to deteriorate and produced a sticky substance. While operating the vehicle, the sunlight created a glare on the dashboard that impaired the driver's vision. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who indicated that the failure was caused by a chemical reaction in the dashboard and that it needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 45,000.
As i was driving into my home garage, my car suddenly accelerated on its own and eventually crashed in the back wall of the garage.depressing the brakes failed to stop the vehicle before crashing.prior to the crashing incident, the unintended acceleration happened at least two other times but the vehicle eventually stopped before an impact.around the end of march 2014, my brake lights came on and i then took the car to toyota for repairs.thereafter, i reported the crash incident to lexus who then had the vehicle inspected on april 9, 2014.the toyota eaa inspector sent me a memory stick with the edr data (crash data) from my vehicle but would not provide an analysis or interpretation of the data and subsequently denied my claim for the damage incurred to my car.
The trunk opening lid melted.
My dash panel and door handles are melting in the sun.the dash panel is especially problematic as it is extruding a shiny clear tar like substance that causes a significant glare visibility problem while driving into the sun, causing me to nearly miss another vehicle turning in front of me at an intersection.
The contact owns a 2008 lexus ls460. The contact stated that a day after purchasing the vehicle, he noticed that there were cracks on the instrument panel near the radio, and between the dashboard and passengerā€™s and driverā€™s side doors. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic nor dealer. The dealer was not made aware of the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The approximate failure mileage was 55,000.
While parked on a sloped driveway with front of the car higher than the back, i opened the trunk and started to reach for an item in the trunk when the trunk lid came down on the back of my head. When i lifted the trunk lid so i can move away and then let go, it slowly came back down and stopped with slight clearance between the trunk lid and the bottom portion of the trunk. I took my car to a dealer for a warranty repair. They told me that the trunk lid is heavy so this is a normal behavior. I firmly believe that this is a defect and should be fixed by the manufacturer.
The contact owns a 2008 lexus ls460. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, he noticed that there was a shiny glare coming from the dashboard that obstructed his visibility. The dealer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact that the manufacturer's recall for the dashboard had expired in march 2021. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 279,000.
Thecontact owns a 2008 lexus ls460. The contact stated that the upper support bushing failed and caused the tire tread to separate. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who repaired the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the issue. The failure mileage was 47,000 and the current mileage was 47,500.
This automobile many inside plastic panels are melting liquefying and we are very concerned that are releasing toxic fumes. It is my wife's car and she has a lot of cough this year, contacted lexus/toyota and they say are not toxic, but we do not believe them, please find correspondence for the last several months. We ask you if you have a laboratory where this car can analyse the air interior, we found one but they want to charge $750 to do the test. Toyota the manufacturer of this lexus has no credibility with us, they use plastic compounds in production without the minimum testing and this is the end result. Please find attached our notes regarding this issue.
After dropping the kids off this morning was driving home and all of the sudden i get the lights on the dash which alarmedme as there was loud beeps too. The first was brake malfunction, then check vsc system, then check brake system. The brakes got real soft and the car acted like it didnt want to stop
Cracked and/or sticky/melting dashboards (instrument panels) and door panels as a result of heat or humidity
All door panels melting, including glove compartment, dash board, center consolecaused by use of defective and substandard material. Navigation system died leaving no access to air condition control, blue tooth, rear camera , hard drive, map and other functions.lexus refused to acknowledge citing warranty.
All four interior door trim panels, center console, and dash on my 2008 lexus ls460 are melting, cracking and admitting a foul odor causing nausea. Toyota issued a warranty enhancement bulletin covered by the customer support program ze6 but only included the 2007 ls460. Having done research, other owners with the same 2008 ls460 model through the 2014 ls460 models are having the same issue. Toyota is refusing to cover the repairs as "not enough complaints have been filed". My vehicles in use date was september 23, 2008. I was told in early june 2018 by a local dealership service employee my car would have the trim panels, center console and dash replaced but when i called lexus care i was told it was not included and would not be covered as "not enough claims have been filed for my year model". Seeing as how toyota replaced them on the 2007 models, they should be required to issue a recall for the remaining year models that are having the same issues.
Sudden, loud, high-pitched, repetitive, chirping noise while my wife was driving on a freeway. She was frightened and felt forced to take her eyes off the road to check the instrument panel. She nearly struck another car.the problem turned out to be due to a failed radio amplifier. The loud noise had persisted even with the radio off.
Defective actuator and pump.this is a common problem with models ranging between 2007 and 2013. This is a problem known to lexus and they were taking care of it as and when complaints were made.this is a safety issue and believe that lexus should make a recall and remedy .
My car has a sticky dashboard and door panels as well as the black button that opens the trunk when the weather is hot or humid. Anything that is made of that material is sticky and gets this weird black stuff everywhere. The shiny reflective surface that the dashboard is a safety hazard for myself and other drivers. Every time i get in my car i cough, so i am afraid that harmful chemicals may be emitted. Please help investigate!
I put my 2 year old in the car seat, strapped her in, put my bag (with the key fob) on the backseat and after visually confirming that the drivers door is unlocked closed the back door with my child inside. In the time it took me to walk around the car to the driver's seat all four doors somehow locked down. With both the key fob and my child inside the car; in the middle of the summer in texas. Lexus is supposed to have a safe lock feature that prevents the car locking while keys are inside but this clearly failed. Luckily we were parked in a garage and my husband was able to come in 20 min with the spare key; otherwise tit would have been much worse.
On september 2, 2010, while driving my lexus ls460, i was sitting in traffic at a complete stop with my foot on the brake. Suddenly the car began revving at a very high rate. Luckily, i was able to keep my foot firmly down on the brake & shift the car into neutral so that it didn't "jump" forward and hit the truck that was stopped ahead of me. I immediately contacted the lexus dealership that i purchased my car from and was put on the line w/ the general manager of the service department.he told me that i must have had my foot on the gas pedal. I told him that this was impossible since i was at a stop directly behind a stopped truck.he said that the black boxes of all the cars that had previously complained of this problem had been checked and that it had all been found to be driver error. It is without a doubt that i was not pushing the accelerator when this happened, my foot was on the brake pedal, or i would have smashed into the truck that was less than 3 feet ahead of me. I attempted to send a letter to the department of transportation on that date but it was returned to me due to not having an agency or room number. I am simply trying to make both lexus and others aware of what occurred.

Sudden unintended acceleration in a parking lot. Required both feet with extreme pressure to stop vehicle even after it collided with and pushed another, unoccupied vehicle sideways one entire parking slot. Driver and 3 passengers in vehicle at time of incident.
The contact owns a 2008 lexus ls460. While attempting to park, the vehicle suddenly accelerated and caused the contact to crash into two vehicles. A police report was filed and there were no injuries reported. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 70,000.
The contact owns a 2008 lexus ls460. The contact stated that the vehicle independently surged forward at a high rate of speed without warning. The contact applied force to the brake pedal, but the failure recurred without warning. While at a stop with the brake pedal applied, the contact's vehicle surged forward and crashed into the preceding vehicle, which then crashed into another vehicle. The vehicle was towed to a repair shop by the insurance company who repaired the body damages to the front of the vehicle. The failure was not diagnosed by an authorized dealer to determine the failure. A police report was filed. The driver sustained whiplash that required medical attention. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was not available. Updated 01/20/16*lj

Driver side front window has a whistling noise that is a hazard due to the db level at 55 mph.i have spoken several times with clear lake lexus and they have not offered a solution. This appears to be a very common issue with the 2008 lexus 460 (lexus talk).there appears to be a fix by installing a triangle between the mirror and door.

The contact owns a 2008 lexus ls460. The contact was driving various speeds and noticed the tire pressure indicator alerted there was low tire pressure. The vehicle was taken to an independent auto shop who stated both front chrome wheels were peeling and cracking internally due to moisture. The technician sprayed an adhesive on both tires and rims which was a temporary repair for the air that was leaking from the rim. The manufacturer was not notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 40,000.updated12/31/12updated 1/7/2013
