At approximately 2:00 pmon jan. 5, 2020, i was driving my 2006 lexus ls 430 in a residential area in bethesda, md. I decided to turn around. I turned right into a driveway (at a low speed) with the brake pedal applied. Suddenly, and without warning, the car accelerated wildly, making a great deal of engine noise, as the throttle appeared to be wide open. Thankfully i hit a near-by tree and two front air bags deployed. A homeowner called the police, and an ambulance took me to the emergency room at a nearby hospital. If this sudden acceleration had occurred on a highway, i am certain that lives would have been lost.

Pulled car into lined parking space, placed car in park, turned car off (keyless ignition "smart key"on dash turned to left/off position, about to get out of car, just started to take seat belt off when car started up, went uncontrollably forward over cement parking barrier and cement walkway and hit parked vehicle on other side of lot, all the while shifter in park position and foot on brake, tried to keep car straight, but would not respond and veered to the right. After this first impact shifter slipped from park to reverse on own and car went backwards again over cement barrier and walkway and hit car behind and finally came to rest.in going backwards brakes did not again respond.this was experienced and witnessed by two other passengers inside the car, tow truck personnel also noted that afterwards, when placed in neutral to put on flatbed, car shifter had tendency to go to reverse or forward gear.police report stated that "it appears that a vehicle malfunction could have been the cause of the crash". This vehicle is a brand new 2006 lexus ls430, purchased 5/30/06 with only 4800 miles on it! driver and one passenger have soft tissue musculoskeletal injury/pain and driver has anxiety/ panic attacks whenever attempting to drive, and is receiving professional medical assistance and medications to treat this. Nothing thus far has been done by lexus to correct or prevent this failure from potentially recurring again, the car is presently having the physical damage repaired by the lexus body shop.

I own a 2006 lexus ls430, which i've had since new. It only has about 70k miles on it and has been maintained solely at lexus dealership where vehicle was purchased in raleigh nc. Today while reversing down a steep drive my vehicle suddenly lost power and cut off. I lost all hydraulic brake assistance and steering assist. I was moving at about 8 mph at time of failure. No malfunction indicators appeared on the dash before or after this. My vehicle had at least 10 gallons of fuel in the tank as it indicates about ⅝ full. I was able to restart the vehicle after stopping and the car ran fine on my way home. I am scheduling an appointment with dealership for inspection but this was scary and i'm just concerned if the same thing happened at highway speeds if it could be fatal like the gm ignition recall. My vehicle is equipped with keyless ignition so no keys were in the starter that could have switched ignition off.

I purchased a certified pre-owned 2006 lexus 430, including 2 additional warranties, from lexus chandler in may 2009 upon which i experience an inability to start and unlock the steering wheel eight times within the first two months and intermittently months after.if i sit for an hour the system will unlock itself and will start.dealer refuses to involve itself and claims it is unable to repair.i took to another dealer which stated they could disconnect the anti-lock mechanism but then the car would not have any security functions. I have contacted the state attorney generals office which they have contacted the dealer but no resolution has been provided at this time.i have written a letter to my senator, john mccain, about the issue and am waiting a response.i feel this is a safety concern since it leaves me stranded. Updated 04/09/10. *ljthe consumer also stated the vehicle needed a new battery and tires. Updated 09/21/10

When first driving the car after delivery may 22, 2006, it was noted that the low beam head lights were set dangerously low and provided unsafe lighting.they were immediately adjusted up to a reasonable level to provide adequate lighting of the road for safe driving on low beam.consequently the high beams were projecting up in the air, and provided absolutely no light on the road surface, again causing unsafe driving conditions for rural roads and open highway where the high beams are necessary.i tried to get the dealer service to adjust them and as it turns out the manufacturer does not provide for separate adjustment of the high and low beams, even though they are separate assemblies.i have written and contacted lexus customer service a number of times.they have referred me to lexus arbitration, but no-one will provide a correction for the problem.it appears to me that the headlights must be removed and realigned properly and reinstalled as they must be when originally installed in the vehicle and the headlights should be redesigned to provide separate adjustment.

On 3/27/12 the car was taken to dealer and inspected for a strong fuel odor upon starting the engine. None was detected. On 4/18/12 it was returned for the same problem. A second inspection found the fuel pressure regulator was leaking fuel and did represent a hazard, but was not the same issue as the recall of2006-07 models gs 350/350, 2009 is 250, 2006-08 is 350, listed as fuel pressure sensor installation. I wascharged $320.73 for parts/labor plus tax. The model is a ls 430.

After new brakes installed by lexus 11/03/2009, brakes became grabby. When front wheels were wet as in after washing, brakes would make a loud "groaning" noise & lock the driver front wheel causing car to pull to left. After numerous complaints to lexus, problem still not resolved as of 07/05/2011.lexus continues to contend that this is normal...even to include the wheel locking...because it is wet. Speed to test essentially rolling only... Almost hit a pole in parking lot when stepping on brake after washing.

Lexus ls 430 brakes failed moving into a parking space. Pressed on the breaks the surged forward went over a bump, curb, handicap sign and into the building. Was pressing on the brakes and the car just took off.

My 2006 lexus ls 460 has a dashboard that is sticky and hard to see out of at times when driving.i have also noticed my interior door panels are starting to haze with a white film on them.i have taken extreme care with this vehicle as it receives all the normal maintenance and every 3 weeks a full detail inside and out. I thought it was the chemicals being utilized by the detailers, and i asked they stop using chemicals and only use soap and water. I later found after speaking with them that it is common in a lot of lexus sedans.i looked it up on the internet and found that there was adefect in many lexus' from 2006 to 2008.so i am inquiring here to see if anything can be done about it.

In the last 30 days the chrome on the inside of 2 wheels where the tires bead seals has shown to bedefective and the tires will not hold air. I am afraid of the tires bead that seals against this part of the rim losing air at a high rate when driving at highway speeds or,going around a curve. So far the flats have accrued once in the garage and the otherat a slow speed. I would guess the 2 remaining wheels are suffering the same defect and will show up soon. The chrome wheels came with the car and are a lexus product. Not a after market wheel. I have owned the car sense new.i can not find any recall or, mention of this problem. The repair shop said this is fairly common whit chrome wheels. The repair shop ground the bad spots down and put a sealer on the rim. They would not say how longit would last. I would think anything to do with wheels or,tires would be of great concern.
