Defective passenger occupancy sensor: my srs / airbag warning light illuminated and would not turn off, indicating that the srs system was deactivated. I had my car diagnosed by a lexus dealership service department on 12/4/2020. Johnson lexus advised me that the passenger side front seat pressure sensor failed and that the repair was to replace the seat for $2769.31. The seat has not been subjected to any unusual or harsh use. Research indicates that this is a common defect among lexus is models and some other lexus and toyota models of this generation. Many lexus drivers report great difficulty regarding this defect and the thousands of dollars in repairs that dealerships are demanding to fix the defect. There are hundreds of complaints about this very issue on the nhtsa database. I am very surprised there has not been a mandatory recall or a lexus program to address this common sensor failure affecting a critical, nonoptional safety feature. I contacted toyota of north america and received a polite call from the executive office stating that the company was sorry but would not do anything to help. Lexus is usually excellent with its customer service, so i am very surprised at the lack of concern here. I hope it does not require deaths from air bags failing to deploy for lexus to address this defect.
It has a few problems it accelerates at times it has airbag recall and unstable to drive at times brakes lock up or touchy when pushed. Just purchased recently from dealer also was stolen twice before
The dashboard is melting, it gets sticky and when driving in the sun there's a noticeable glare that makes it hard to drive. And the same thing is happening to the driver side door.
Lexus (toyota) is not do anything to ensure rider safety of a car they sold.they are assuming the airbag, when deployed, only hurst the front passenger.since i carpool and use my car at work, i might have to pay out of pocket to rent a car until this is fixed.i am stuck since the value of the car is compromised and i don't think anyone would want to buy it.
The infotainment display system is not working and the screen is completely black and unresponsive.this system controls not just the maps and radio which are obviously not critical, but the air conditioner, the heat and the defroster.subsequently, during a recent rain storm, i was unable to get my windows clear as their is no other way to use the defroster except through this touchscreen interface that has topped working.i recently went on the lexus owners club forum and found countless people complaining of the same issue.please see that attached picture that demonstrates what i'm referring to.thank-you.

Lexus is 250 2009 , driver sidemat wasnot there ,still my carcould not stop at a red light , why?i was terrified, nearly escaped a crash , so pleaseresearchwhat is going on with the lexus cars . Toyotaneversent me anyrecallnotice until after the fact , but i knew about the mat recall through the media , and had removed it .now i am afraid to drive .
The vehicle has lunged forward while slowing down or at very slow speeds, and the brakes do not operate effectively. The brake is always pressed down as far as it goes without avail. There is no precursoras to when it will happen. In total, the engine lunged forward about 6 times. The first time i nearly hit a vehicle with my minor daughter in the car. The next few times were not as significant in terms of eminent damage. The next incident was worse. It happened in july of 2019 in a drug store parking lot. I was parking in a stall and the vehicle sped up, squealed the tires, jumped the cement parking block, hit some bushes, and i was able to stop it. On this occasion there was damage to my vehicle. There are dents and scratches from the bushes, a tire sensor or two is not functional anymore, and the underbody was damaged. I was thoroughly scared and afraid was car would continue to do this and i could hurt someone. I was able to stop the vehicle only by putting it in park.the brake was rendered useless. It happened twice on the same day in january of 2020.i was driving slowly and it lunged.i was able to slow it down. I proceeded to park the vehicle. Once again it lunged forward at a concrete parking stop. The brakes did not work. I had to put it in park as the only way to stop the vehicle and prevent further damage. All incidents were in a city driving showily. The vehiclehad approximately 40,000 miles on it wheni first noticed the safety concern. The vehicle now has approximately 60,000 miles.
I had 2 times were the vehicle almost stalled at different red lights within a time frame of 2 days. Shortly after this i started noticing that my vehicle was driving like a 4 cylinder instead of a 6. I took it in to my dealership and they put the car on the computer and found 4 codes in the cars history. 1 stated multiple engine misfires, 2 stated misfire on number 2, 3 stated misfire on number 4 and 3, stated misfire on number 6. In all these instances i never had a check engine light come on. The dealer contacted corporate and a tas was opened for my car and corporate told the dealer to watch the situation and if it should happen again further action would be taken. I brought the car back in friday for a different issue (radio problems) and told them the car was acting up again. They found no misfires and the mechanics said it was running within specs. Saturday the 29th my check engine light came on and stayed on until monday afternoon. Contacted dealership and they scheduled an engine overhaul for october 15th and said it would be completed in about 1 week. I them filed a claim myself with lexus corporate to evaluate the numerous problems and the fact that a 2009 with 37,500 miles needed an engine overhaul. The car is very unreliable. I am supposed to hear back from lexus thursday the 4th of october. No news as of 14:05 est.
2009 lexus is 250 at only 63000 miles.engine random misfires on cold start.car shakes badly.check engine light, traction control light comes on.engine error codes p0300, p0301, p0302, p0303, p0304, p0305, p0306.when engine rpm drops from high to low, -4000rpm to -500, it some times stalls.car has to add engine oil about 3 quarts between 8500 miles change intervals.problems stated at less than 50000 miles, getting worse and worse.
This was a loaner car. The gas pedal stuck on the floor. The heavy rubber mat caught the edge of the gas pedal and held it down on the floor. I was able to shift to neutral (don't know how the engine didn't blow up), brake the car to a stop, shift to park and shut engine off. I saw this morning on tv that there have been fatalities reported on toyota vehicles related to this issue.

Condensation has formed on the inner surfaces of both headlight lenses.the condensation reduces the light intensity and distorts the focus of the headlight beams.this in turn causes a safety hazard by impairing the night-time visibility of the driver and possibly blinding oncoming drivers.
I purchased a vehicle from empire auto sales now known as car queens. I applied for tags for this car over a year ago. Now my registration is expired and i'm now finding out that i bout a salvage car that has been totaled out through a insurance company. Which is fine but the dealer failed to have the car inspected for safety purposes to get a rebuilt title. I am now told that it is illegal to drive this car! the dealer refuses to talk to me about this situation. I'm not sure if i'm in the right place to ask for help but if not can you please advise me on who to talk too! i just want my family to be safe on the highways. I called jackson ms car title and registration and they agreed that it's a problem with the title for this car! also i was told by an employee of car queens that the owner is selling cars without properly clearing the titles or having the salvage vehicle properly inspected. This incident started january 2019 and still to this day!
At approximately 85k total miles, is250 automatic began dropping from 5-6k rpm to 2-3k rpm whenever changing road grade to an incline or decline, usually above 50 mph, dropping to 35 mph on the highway. To maintain proper speed, i would have to downshift from d to s and floor the accelerator. Traction control, parking brake, and abs lights would sometimes coincide with this problem. This continued until i sold the is250 at 88k miles.
I purchased a high end lexus isf in which the emergency/parking brake does not work as it is supposed to. I raised my concerns with crown lexus in so ca when i took it in for the 5,000 mile check. The emergency/parking brake does not hold the vehicle on any type of incline nor would it stop the vehicle in an emergency situation.i have complained numerous times to crown lexus with no satisfaction to date. They even flew a toyota motor company representative in from japan to investigate. They took pictures and videos of the vehicles brake system, they acknowledged an engineering issue but have taken no action to correct. This has now been over 8 months that i have been complaining to them. I would assume with all the issues toyota is going through, i have been placed on the back burner.considering the cost of the vehicle and the usual attention i get from lexus, i would have thought they would have paid some attention to this. I don't feel that is the case.i know of no where else to turn to have them pay the attention they should have months ago.i truly believe this is a safety issue and that as a result of all the problems toyota is currently undergoing, they have shoved this one aside. The failure occurs continually.nothing has been done to correct this problemhelp!

Very poor handling and loss of control of car on turns, especially when there is a change in grade along the turn or curve.difficulty maintaining control of car when pavement is uneven on curves as in construction areas.

The rear axle vibrates on my lexus is 250, causing serious visibility issues in the rear view mirror and a very unstable ride at highway speeds.. The lexus service manager says that this problem also existed in 2008 and 2007 lexus models. So they acknowledge the problem but refuse to do anything about it.
The dashboard is melting and causing a sticky, viscous film that not only smells bad but is causing a severe blinding glare while i am driving . It cannot be removed or remedied and it getting worse causing more of a safety issue
Melting dashboard.
My dash board is melting. It is really sticky and produce a glare on windshield when driving in the direction of sun. It is becoming very difficult to see. There is a recall on other years and models. Recall should be reevaluated to include all cars effected by this defect.
Vehicle door panels and dashboard are melting and chunks come of when you graze the panels on a hot day even when putting windshield heat protectors material comes off
I don't have to press the brake to switch gear like to put it from parked to drive
My dashboard has that tacky glossy substance on it and causes issues with my visibility. I have tried to remove it and dull it so that it would be better to see, but i have not had any success.
While driving 60 mph on the freeway my car suddenly stalls, loses power, and stops running!

The contact owns a 2009 lexus is250. The contact stated the vehicle was taken in for routine maintenance, vibration in the steering wheeland also for unintended accelerationat any speed.the dealer road tested the vehicleand found a faulty left wheel bearing and hub assembly that causes excessive noise and vibration which they repaired. The contact stated he inform the dealer that the accelerator pedal was sticking and to check on it but was told they are not going to repair is250 accelerator pedals until the next three months. The car was given back on march 4 without checking the failure. While driving the vehicle it accelerated at high speeds of more than 106mph, when this happened the contact was trying to stop the vehicle by pulling theemergency brake, pulling on the gas pedal, hitting the push button that starts the vehicle and then trying to get off on the side of the road.meanwhile the motor is revving at a high speed. There was apolice trooper who saw this but gave him a ticket because he thought he was speeding. The contact stated after he got home she notice the accelerator pedal was stuck to the floor while the vehicle motor was racing at a high speed. The lexus dealer was called and they would have the vehlcle towed to the dealership. The failure mileage was 30,658.

Rapid acceleration, 2009, is 250, lexus.pulling into a parking space with the foot on the brake. Car accelerated, jumped a curb, over a 6 foot wide grass separation and totaled a parked car in front of the parking space. Car was serviced that very day for it's 5,000 mile check.first time we drove the car after being serviced.had our car repaired for front end damage. Contacted lexus on their hot line, reported the incident, was instructed to write them with all the details.have not heard one thing from lexus corporate since we sent the letter on 12/30/09no one has checked the car.contacted the dealer in peoria illinois.they would not return our calls.confronted them about the problem on saturday.they would take the car back in a trade.would require me to take another lease, added a year onto the lease plus increased my monthly payment by $80.this was never an offer to check the vehicle.car is basically parked in the garage because we are afraid to drive it. It was not the floor mats.there is no way that was a problem. Updated 05/24/10
May of 2009 - leased 09 lexus is250; having only driven it for about 1 week when entering the onramp of i-35 in texas, suddenly realized that car was accelerating out of control.the cruise control locked in by itself.rpm was off the charts. I could not exit at "my" exit and continued south on i-35.i tried to brake, but nothing happened.i called my husband and told him my car was out of control.i kept trying to brake...still nothing.somehow the car started to slow, i got on the shoulder and kept going for 1-2 miles.i tried to put the car into neutral...rpm's again were out of control.i think that then i immediately put the car into "park" and pushed the engine start/stop button and waited for help.luckily, i or no one else was injured in this incident. Lexus assured me it was because of the floor mats, but i've never been fully convinced.it has only happened that one time, but honestly, that's enough for me.i tried to trade the car in, but salesman said it was not a good idea ($) since the car was new.

The contact owns a 2009 lexus is 250 . He stated that while driving 35 mph up a hill when turning and slowing down by putting his foot on the brake pedal the vehicle accelerated on its own. The vehicle accelerated and crashed over a mountain. The contact sustained major injuries, broke his right shoulder, chest pains, and his face was also injured when the air bag deployed hitting him in the face. The police and the insurance company were contacted and a report was filed by both of them. The vehicle was towed to a local towing facility where they stated that the vehicle was destroyed. The dealer was contacted and wrote a report as well. He also stated that he received a recall notice for the floor mats and was waiting for an appointment. The failure and current mileage were 11000.
Four incidents of unintended acceleration.on four occasions the 2000 lexus is250 i purchased on september 3, 2009 had unintended acceleration of up to 5000 rpm..three times this occurred when starting the car in park; the fourth time was when the car was stopped and idling.twice i had the dealer, thousand oaks, ca lexus, examine the problem and was told no defect could be found.on the fourth occurrence i noticed my foot was on the edge of the brake pedal and depressing the accelerator simultaneously.i wear only a size 9 shoe, have been a licensed driver for over 65 years and have never had any experiences such as these. I have concluded that either the brake and accelerator pedals are too close to each other or they have been positioned too far to the left, that is, too close to the steering column causing one's foot to be on the edge of the brake pedal.since unintended acceleration has been revealed as a problem with the lexus, i shall appreciated your response to the problem i have described.thank you.
Mar. 3/4/10 - as i was pulling into a parking space, my 2009 is250 accelerated and lunged with a high pitched screaming noise. I stepped hard on the brakes but it wouldn't stop it.a large pickup truck was parked with his rear bumper in front of me and it stopped the car.shaken up, i drove home slowly, called lexus to tow my car in to check it out.next day lexus said they couldn't find anything wrong.i was offered phone # of lexus corp. Office to file my complaint.i called and they took my statement and said we'd hear from them.on 3/25/10,corp. Office called, said to bring car back into lexus. My husband said their mechanics said they couldn't find anything wrong.they told him that their corporate mechanics would check it out and to leave it there overnight.when my husband took it in the next day, lexus didn't know anything about our conversation with their corp. Office but checked our car in. Next day lexus called and said to pick up our car and that the corp. Office would let us know what they found - have not heard from them since.updated 4/26/10 updated 05/17/10.
3/8/2010involving 2009 lexus is 250:as the driver of the lexus is 250 was entering the garage, she was applying pressure to the brake while the garage door was opening.as the driver released the brake to move forward into the garage, the lexus is 250 unexpectedly accelerated and the vehicle sped forward.the driver was stopped from going through the garage by forcefully pressing on the brakes and stopped by the garage cabinets. Acceleration marks were present on the asphalt approximately 10 feet before the opening of the garage and brake marks were present inside the garage.this was the first time the unexpected accelerated occurred and we immediately contacted the dealer for direction.the dealer suggested that we bring the car to the dealership for inspection. The owners were not comfortable driving the vehicle to the dealership due to the current incident of defective functioning.the dealer came to pick up the car and the owner followed in a courtesy vehicle back to the dealership. Once at the dealership, the customer service representative notified the owner that they were unable to accept the car do to the damage located in the driver side bumper which was a result of the incident.the dealership had possession of the keys and the vehicle.the owner notified the dealership that he was uncomfortable to drive (or have) a driver take the vehicle home do the vehicle malfunction.the owner was advised to contact 1-800-255-3987.the owner requested to leave the vehicle at the dealership to avoid any other incidents until the malfunction is investigated.the lexus is 250 was taken to the dealership appox 2 weeks ago for maintenance.the driver side mat was removed over 3 months before the incident and no other repairs have been made to the car.

I was driving on hwy 32 when i heard a loud explosion and glass shattering. I pulled over to inspect my vehicle. I noted no physical damage to the outside of my vehicle. I got back in my vehicle to inspect the windows. I pulled back the visor to my sunroof and there was glass everywhere with a big hole in the middle. I exited the vehicle to see if an object had hit my sunroof and found no objects, other than pieces of glass.
While driving on a northern california highway on 12/23/2016, i heard a huge explosion and saw that my sunroof had exploded. I immediately closed the hatch to prevent glass from coming into the vehicle. When i pulled over and got out to look at the damage, i noticed that the glass was pushed up - indicating that it had exploded outward not inward (as in something falling on it).
