Read complaints for LEXUS IS (2007)

The cover over the front passenger is detached and hanging open. This happened some time following a recall repair. I am concerned that something is wrong.both front wheel ball joints failed and i was told that this was a dangerous situation. I had them replaced as i was traveling and not able to go to a lexus dealer.

Air bag sensor in the front passenger seat is not working. This is a serious safety issue and dealership does not think this is an issue.

Takata recall. I bought my car only two years ago after my first lexus lasted me upwards of 350,000 miles. Keeping this in mind i found my 2007 is250. I was aware after buying the car (but 2 days outside of my dealership warranty *fishy*) about the passenger air bag recall. The dashboard situation is harsh. There is a very chemical smell coming from my dashboard, it feels and peels off like the foam under it. It gets ripped and torn to shreds from very little friction. I have read that some people became very congested and ill from this smell. It is very pungent. Now for my engine, this is a big one. As i was driving, my car starts to make a loud but hallow clunking noise. For a long time i thought it was my brakes, so when i got them changed it went away, for a little. Now today as i was driving my car (which is an automatic) completely stalled in head on traffic. Lucky me, ive driven many manual cars so i knew what to do.when i turned my car back on, it held idle at 4000 rpm. While going 20 mph it holds at 5-6000 rpm. As well as my miles per gallon/tank drop dramatically. While the car is in idle in my driveway, it shakes like a freezing baby throwing a temper tantrum.

The airbag warning light came off and on 3 years or so ago when i had started the car and sometimes while driving. When i brought the car in to the dealer the warning light was off, and the dealer checked but said they could not find the code.at the time my car was still under extended warranty.now the light has come on again just as i was driving out after the car was serviced by the same dealer.they checked the code and said i needed to replace the airbag wiring harness for $2,798.the dealer offered to pay half of the cost since i am no longer covered by the extended warranty but since this issue causes the airbag to not deploy in case of an accident i feel that the full cost should be covered by lexus, and a recall done for all the models affected...updated 12/03/15the consumer stated the vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer paid for the parts while the consumer paid for labor.

We had the passenger airbag replaced as part of a recall. This work was performed by a certified lexus dealership. When we got the car back after the repair, the passenger airbag light showed 'off' even with a passenger in the seat. This airbag light and sensor had always worked correctly prior to the airbag replacement by lexus. There are multiple complaints of the airbag wiring harness being too short and the replacement airbag causing this same issue for many other lexus owners. When we brought the car back to lexus, they said we would need to purchase a new ecu sensor for thousands of dollars and that this issue was not part of the recall and not caused by the repair. Again, this issue arose due to the replacement of the airbag which was performed by lexus and a required recall.

Takata recall.... I have been contacting lexus of orlando in orlando florida since august last year for them to complete recall but continued telling me that they do not have the parts to complete the recall estimated time for parts to arrive was around december of 2016... It is now march of 2017 and they are still unable to supply a safe airbag for my vehicle

The dash is shining and obstructs my view of the road

When the passenger side airbag was replaced by lexus the light for the seat airbag appeared. The dealer and lexus refuse to fix this unless we pay $3600. To but a new seat. They claim this was not related to the recall but i know its not true because the light did not appear until they fixed the dashboard airbag.we cannot have a passenger on the car and cannot sell the car in its current condition

Hello. I have this 2007 lexus is250 that the dashboard and all 4 door panels are tearing apart, braking, melting, but worse for my safety and my wife that we both drive the car, and we feel that the front passenger airbag going to come apart (not safe)because looks like the whole piece will came out of the dashboard. I know lexus said that they replace some but mine wasn't called and the problem is totally visible there. Need help please.

Takata recallbought this car from carmax and was aware there was a recall for the airbags. We were told to contact the company and we could have them replaced at a lexus dealership. Every time i go online to see if the airbags are available i get a message stating "recall incomplete, remedy not yet available. "i have been trying to get this taken care of since august, this is now november. Getting fed-up!

The dashboard is cracked, melted, and sticky. I had to cover it up with a new material for cosmetic reason. Also, value of the car decreased by $1000 dollars for the damage. Second, there is a lot of creaking in the car. Third, the alternator died at 120,00 miles.

Takata recall it has been since may 2016 that lexus knew that our airbag(s) had been recalled.we were notified with an update on june 9, 2016 that they would fix this but did not have a remedy yet.this was over 6 months ago and we are still unable to have passengers ride in the front seat of our car.this is extremely disappointing and it is not acceptable for a remedy to take so long to occur- even if the takata recall affected many vehicles.

The ars light comes on and will not go off, was advised that lexus no longer makes this part so i can not get it fixed this was a part of a previous campaign recall but i am still having the issue

Takata recall - it has been over 12 months with no updates or offers for rental cars or settlement whilst i am still driving around with a compromised vehicle.

My 2007 lexus is250 dashboard has sticky/melting issue. While driving during summer hot day in texas, the melting dashboard generates light reflection on windshield makes me difficult to see the front objects. It also makes me feel unsafe because airbags just under it. Not sure airbags get deployed in the right time or not if an accident happens. Lexus should recall dashboards.

Took car to dealership due to shiny and sticky dashboard. Was told this is a known problem but will not repair under good will since warranty has passed. Dashboard is extremely sticky, will this cause air bag problems during an accident? the shiny surface also reflects and makes driving difficult in sunlight.

Started the car this morning 3/29/15 and air bag light came on. Drove to store and came back light still on. Got home light still on. Went to auto shop gave me a code of b1861 srsdriver side knee air bag. Sounds very dangerous and im afraid that the air bag wont deploy during an accident......updated 12/03/15

The dashboard panel has deteriorated to the point that it is soft, tacky, and a significant glare is reflected onto the windshield reducing a driver's visibility. The deterioration continues to worsen spreading throughout the dashboard where the passenger airbag is enclosed.

Unknownthe airbag light continues to come on and off, also the check vsc keeps coming on.not sure what the issue is.i feel unsafe and uncomfortable with this occurring!

Dangerous airbag in car, known issue that dealer refuses to fix for me.

The speedometer indicating needle went black along with the tachometer needle not allowing me at night to see my existing speed.there is no contrast whatsoever.lexus of silver spring told me this was a $1400.00 fix.i believe this to be a safety issue due to the fact that there are many more concerns on this subject from my on line investigation of many people with the same car.i believe this to be a true safety concern.i am willing to bring my car to you as proof of my concern.i need resolution and consideration from the dealer on this matter.your response is seriously awaited.

The power steering goes out leaving driving a serious hazard. I have read this is not uncommon in this model. Also, iwas informed that it could lock up completely. This is a serious safety issue yet there is not a recall. The car is in motion when this happens on both city and highway.

Melting dashboard - can simply stick a fingernail in it and it leaves an indentation.i noticed that others have complained of this problem also.it's also very sticky anywhere along the leather on the doors and dashboard.also, my car is only 7 years old and ayear ago the touch screen went out.i cannot use the gps at all.apparently the cost is about $1,000 to fix this.seems rediculous that this would happen after only 7 years.this should be guaranteed for life!

My 2007 lexus is250 only has 44,000 miles.the navigation console stopped responding, and this was verified as a defect by a toyota dealership.the result is that in addition to gps and radio functions not working, the critical and life dependent features of air conditioning and heating also can't be controlled.these features are vital when living in climates that have below freezing weather in winter, and extreme heat in summer.the cost of the repair is $2900, and lexus was unwilling to pay for this repair.clearly this is a material defect, and this is occurring to thousands of other lexus/toyota owners as noted by online comments.

The dashboard is cracked, melted, and sticky. I had to cover it up with a new material for cosmetic reason. Also, value of the car decreased by $1000 dollars for the damage. Second, there is a lot of creaking in the car. Third, the alternator died at 120,00 miles.

As i just exited the highway and pulled into the parking lot of my work, the steering wheel suddenly froze.i was about to park in an open spot, so the speed of the car was very low.as i was reversing into the spot, the steering wheel jammed and would not turn.i tried shutting down and restarting many times but the wheel was stuck, and required enormous amount of power to turn ever so slightly.the car was towed to the lexus dealer.they were also unable to turn, and upon their review, they said that there was a leak in timing cover, which accumulated over time and went into the harness of the ecu and burned the ecu, which in-turn jammed your steering.there was no physical leaks on the bottom, and the dealer also confirmed that but said it was an internal leak, you would not see it on the floor.the car is still at the shop and only after replacing the ecu they will check for steering assembly.the explanation provided by them is not very adequate and if it is true then there seems to be a serious flaw in design that any unseen leak from timing cover could cause your steering to freeze unexpectedly, while your vehicle is in motion.

The headlights will stop working intermittently while driving.at times only the driver side headlight will not work, but at other times both will not work.many times rotating the headlight control on the steering wheel left stem to the off position and then turning the control back to the on position will cause the headlights to illuminate.other times i must pull to the side of the road, turn off the vehicle, and then turn on the vehicle for the headlights to work.this is a very dangerous situation as it occurs at night.

Headlights randomly turn off at night while driving. Replaced bulbs already and have noticed many lexus of this year have the same problem. Have to flick lights off and back on to turn on again.

Tht vsc light keeps coming on and will not go off. Ihave been banned from lexus re lexus corporate are allowing lindsey lexus, lexus of annapolis, and lexus of silver springs, to usefear, intimidation, out right lies ,and deception , to scare people to repair things on cars that simplydo not need any repair against army veteran andsenoircitizens. People they perceive to have no knowledge of cars. While the lexuscertified preowned warranty was in place no one ever asked to repair anything. Because lexus was paying for the repairs if any. As soon as the lexus cpowarranty was expired everything was wrong with the car accordingto the dealerships. This is a culture of corruption. If your business model needs lies and corruption you don't have a profitable, moral, properly working business model. This all started with the racist tammy of lindsey who after a brief examination of the carsaid itneeded $8k in repairs. I was shocked. I took the car there initiallyafter the warranty expiredto get the car checked for any potential needed replacements such as brakes, tires, battery thingsthat just simply wereout over time. None of the problems they said were those type of problems that are easily identified .racist tami told me if i didn't make the repairs the car will fail and that i could get killed on the highway . I asked to speak to the service manager. I asked for pictures and proof. They did not provide any proof.the service manager apologized for somethingand said that's how they do business. Oil changes are not enough business for them and that i was now considereda dead customer. I left in my car never repaired anything they said. Needless to say the car did not fail.during the easter holiday season next thinking this was an isolated incident

Melting dashboard reflect sunlight on windshield which is blinding at times.also melting doors stain and ruin clothes.vsc sensors also stay on even after dealership "repair"they recommend replacing transmission @$5k but no guarantee problem will be solved.

I had issues when the car starts-up.it make a loud noise every morning going to work and also the a/c makes noises when its on.took it to lexus and they told me that they can not duplicate the noise and alsosay that they found some type of garage in the air filter.the noise is still there, its a loud thump as if metal to metal impact.like a steel hammer hitting another steel hammer.

Takata recall. I bought my car only two years ago after my first lexus lasted me upwards of 350,000 miles. Keeping this in mind i found my 2007 is250. Rattle noise on start up from engine as if car has no oil

I work for toyota/lexus manu plant in ky. My vehicle started throwing a misfire code (p0304) and check engine light came on.my car was diagnosed by lexus dealer as having carbon build up in engine (temporary repair will cost $600 to clean engine. Permanent repair that will eventually have to happen $15,000).lexus did offer a csp on this issue and extended warranty on this issue but you could not go to the dealer and have it diagnosed until the check engine light came.the check engine light did not come on until it was out of warranty.after many phone calls and continuous complaining lexus would not stand behind their product. I finally had to file a complaint thru the warranty dept at the manu plant.lexus finally called me back and said they would pay the $600 to clean the engine, she did tell me that the only reason they were even talking to me was because i work at the plant. I had the engine cleaned oct 2017.the dealer told me that this carbon build up will return and i will eventually need an engine replacement.

The contact owns a 2007 lexus is 250.the contact stated that the dealer could not repair the vehicle according to nhtsa campaign id number 09v020000 (engine and engine cooling) in a reasonable amount of time.the failure and current mileages were 14,000.updated 03/12/09.*ljthe dealer informed the consumer, the next appointment was within a month. Updated 03/16/09.

I was driving on a local country road at about 15-20 mph (having just come out of a sharp turn).when i stepped on the accelerator after the turn, it suddenly began to "gun", at which point i stepped on the brake and to my horror got no response.i kept my foot on the brake, but the accelerator continued to rev or gun horrifyingly and the car continued to speed up.at another sharp turn i went off the road and sideswiped a tree, drove through the bedroom of a house (in one wall and out the other) and finally stopped in another tree.after an hour of police, fire, and other emergency personnel attempting to extricate me from the car, they had to remove the roof of the car to get me out of the vehicle.i was airlifted to the nearest hospital with a trauma center, where i was diagnosed with a fractured sternum, three broken ribs, two fractured vertebrae, and a lacerated liver.i was in the hospital for three days, after which i was released with a custom-fitted back brace that i was required to wear for the next six weeks.fortunately, i was not permanently injured, but i suffer back pain regularly as a result of the fractured vertebrae.

Vsc warning light came with check engine light. Pulled in a local dealership, was told car was ok to continue driving but make an appointment for service. Left dealership, went approx 0.5 miles to get gas. When i stopped the car there were loud scrambling noises like an animal was loose in the dash. Popped the hood, couldn't see anything- looked under car and all the transmission fluid was pouring out. Had car towed back to dealership. Still waiting for verdict. Car is only 7 months old and this will be my 3rd time in the shop. At 3 months had to receive full wheel alignment due to severe shaking and pulling to the left. At 6 months brought car in complaining of a loud creaking during turns- arm bolt was loose and needed to be tightened. Also, the windshield makes a loud crack/pop noise every morning on my way to work. This car had excellent reviews, what happened!

I have had replace the h.i.d headlight bulb 3 times on each side. I think they must be defected, other people on lexus chat online have voiced they have the same problems with there lexus. Was there a recall? also rear struts leaking.

Headlights randomly turn off at night while driving. Replaced bulbs already and have noticed many lexus of this year have the same problem. Have to flick lights off and back on to turn on again.

Headlight goes out...replace bulb....goes put again....will flicker on when i turn the lights on and off but driver side low beam won't stay on...now both low beams will sometimes be out and went put while driving at night....had to pull over and turn switch on and off several times to get the lights to come on....kept doing that...will come on without issues if on high beam.

When i bought the car literally a week later the drivers side head light started flickering and eventually turned off. I have to constantly turn it on and off to have both head lights engage. I can have it park for as little as 5 minutes and the light goes out by itself. I have taken the vehicle to several toyota dealers and mechanics and they have said that i need to replace the light bulb but it can't be the light bulb because the light turns on so it must be something else. So i bought a new light hid bulb and it keeps turning on and off. So im not understanding. I recently took it to toyota dealer to get it check out and they told me the same thing light bulb needs to be replace.

I've had this car for 4 months and while driving my vehicle my lights will just turn off. This happens while vehicle is stationary or on the road at low street speed or high highway speeds. Sometimes just the left headlight, sometimes just the right headlight and sometimes both headlights at the same time. Only way to temporarily correct is to turn the light switch off and then back on for a few more minutes and then the light problem happens again. I've seen numerous complaints. Changing the lightbulbs does not work, i've tried that. I've done research and been on lexis is forums and people like me have the same or similar problem with the same year and models or similar year and models. I went to dealership to ask about a possible recall for this headlight issue and they said light bulbs needed to be replaced. I told them i had replaced them already and there answer was replace the whole headlights which run close to $1000. I've heard of people replacing their entire headlights and the same problem persists. Dealership states it's a wear and tear issue. How is it a wear and tear issue when your headlights go out when your driving at high and low speeds at night? and not to mention both bulbs work occasionally but then go out and problem can be fix by turning the light switch off and on again a few times a trip hoping you don't hit anything or anyone. This is not a wear and tear issue, this is a safety issue and must be corrected before we all have an accident or worse. Please look into this.

In january of 2019 i has an issue with a fuel sensor and paid lexus dealership 1800.00 to have it replaced. I am now having the same issue and have discovered there a recall on this car for the same thing. I feel like i should be refunded my money.

Lexus knows about and will not fix the 1st generation of direct fuel injection on the is250/350 engines model years 2006-2013.lexus claims to me that when in cold climates the fuel will condense on cylinder walls and then contaminate the oil.this running rich problem then causes the engine computer to trip or present failure codes and then deactivating the vehicle stability control safety functions that are needed when the car is driven in cold climates.lexus said they had a program in place to deal with this problem but it expired before my car presented symptoms, this was due to the car being stationed with me in warm climates from 2008 to 2012.lexus refuses to help rectify the situation.

The contact owns a 2007 lexus is. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 14v647000 (fuel system, gasoline) and stated that the part needed for the repair was not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

I recieved a safety recall notice from lexus for my car. I have made multiple calls to lexus to set up an appointment to get the car fixed. They do not return my calls. It has been over a month since i first contacted them.

Transmission not shifting ran my vinyl and it comes back to a is200t my vehicle is 2007 is 250 non turbo.

The ars light comes on and will not go off, was advised that lexus no longer makes this part so i can not get it fixed this was a part of a previous campaign recall but i am still having the issue

Air bag sensor in the front passenger seat is not working. This is a serious safety issue and dealership does not think this is an issue.

While driving with my 4 year old in the car the power steering just stopped working at 45 mph. I was able to manhandle the steering to a safe place. However, this could have been tragic if my wife was driving this car.

Power steering stopped working while backing out of a parking space in a parking garage in tampa, fl. It happened without a sound and without warning, and hasn't worked ever since.

Power sterring stoped working

There's a loud rubbing sound when i turn my wheel left or right when driving my car.i took it to a shop that only works on toyota and honda. They quoted me $3000.00 to fix it. I couldn't reemeber what part exactly they were going to fix. I was more stunned than listening at that point. I certainly did not want to spend the money i don't have to get this taken care of. But it has been progressively getting worse.i was making a left hand turn on a busy street, and the steering wheel locked up. I almost slammed into a car in the lane next to me. I had to restart my car and apologise profusely to the driver that i almost wrecked into. I called the dealer and asked if there was a recall they knew of with the steering wheel. He said there wasn't. It's pretty dangerous to be driving this car. It's a shame to me that such a luxurious brand name would have this huge problem with something major like steering, and not have any type of answer as to why this electrical steering is having this issue. I did get comfort knowing that i'm not the only customer upset at lexus for this...

Put car into drive out of parking space and steering was locked. Shortly after a few feet the steering wheel unlocked then experienced noticeable gradual increase in steering effort at low speeds when turning the steering wheel to complete left and right turns along with a rubbing sound. No warning or service lights!? ssc-9-lc

Steering wheel is hard to turn while driving/ parking and sometimes freezes on the highway in a runas if something is holding on to it like a magnet, and you have to pull on it real hard to get it back under control . I thought my car was the only car doing it but when i went on lexusfourms i've seen that there was many car with the same issue stating that lexus rack and pinion is faulty and will cause you to crash if your not used to it

Vehicle owner observed noise that appeared to be coming from the steering assembly.at low speeds such as backing up, with large steering motion, noise is most pronounced.when driving the vehicle, at any speed, vehicle tends to "skip" and "jump" to the right or left, as if steering becomes loose and jerks one direction or the other.noise and motion has been getting progressively worse since the incident date.on or about 2/18/13, owner brought the vehicle to a local repair shop for diagnosis.that shop confirmed the noise, but stated it needed to be brought to the dealership.owner brought the vehicle to the lexus dealership on 2/22/13.dealer stated that the electronic steering assembly has failed, need to replace the rack and steering servomotors which comes as one part, being le44200-53151 electric link assembly.this is a part that is sealed and could not be maintained by either the owner or any repair shop.cost to replace the assembly is $4472.17 including labor, materials and tax.owner believes this is an exorbitant amount, and represents about 20 - 25% of the vehicle value.the failure of this part is a manufacturing defect, the vehicle owner should bear no responsibility to replace this part.owner has been unsuccessful in getting the lexus dealership or manufacturer to provide relief to the owner to make the necessary repairs.other than possibly the brakes, steering is the most important function of a vehicle, it should remain functional for the life of the car.internet search has shown that other lexus vehicles of this vintage have experienced similar problems, dealership claims there are no recalls for my specific vehicle.it appears that a faulty part has been installed in this vehicle, dealership and manufacturer need to take responsibility for this.this issue could result in total steering loss, which is an extreme safety issue.

The power steering goes out leaving driving a serious hazard. I have read this is not uncommon in this model. Also, iwas informed that it could lock up completely. This is a serious safety issue yet there is not a recall. The car is in motion when this happens on both city and highway.

My 2007 lexus is250 has issues with the windshield molding. The left and right side are chipping away and cracking on the left and right side. It seems like it is due to the sun and the part does not withstand heat causing it to dry where it becomes brittle. This can be a safety issue and needs to be resolved.

Took car to dealership due to shiny and sticky dashboard. Was told this is a known problem but will not repair under good will since warranty has passed. Dashboard is extremely sticky, will this cause air bag problems during an accident? the shiny surface also reflects and makes driving difficult in sunlight.

My 2007 lexus is250 has a sticky melting dashboard and sticky door that are a nuisance and affect my driving. This is not safe and lexus used a horrible material for it.

After purchasing car, i noticed door panels seemed to be melting & real smooshy when you touch it. I told dealership & they just wanted to patch it so i got a second opinion from upholstery shop & they said its really nothing they can do but patch it because its molded!! i would like to know what can be done to get a recall initiated so this can be fixed before it gets worse.

Dashboard started melting as well as doors after 3 days from when i bought the car from lexus of orlando, took it back and they were not able to assist cause car was off warranty by 4k miles, if i knew this was happening i would have never bought it.

The front dashboard of my 2007 lexus is350 has melted into a highly reflective, sticky substance that significantly hinders visibility out the front of the automobile under certain lighting conditions.i have not had an incident yet but am very concerned about the safety of driving the car.

Dashboard melting and doors affected too.

The dash board and door panel are disintegrating .they are sticky and when touched it gets indented or the pieces just come off...

Black dashboard and inside door panels are melting on my 2007 lexus is 250.while driving, the sun will glare off of the melting dashboard compromising viability to the driver.if you touch the dashboard, an imprint is left.valet services are unable to place tickets, or any other material for that matter, on the dashboard because it will stick to the dashboard and leave residue.the same material is used for the door panels.as you open the car door from the inside of the vehicle, the black material gets caught under male and female fingernails, gouging the material.i believe this is a manufacturing defect. This is not a result of owner neglect.on a side note; this vehicle has lived in many environments - colorado (dry climate), texas (dry climate), and florida (moist and warm climate).lexus customer service has been contacted and does not take responsibility for the defect.if i want it fixed, lexus states that it is my financial responsibility to replace.if cosmetics and quality are not important to lexus, safety should be!

On or about august 2012, i began to notice that my dash board was sticky. I attempted to clean it but that did not solve the problem. It kept getting worse and worse. It seems like the inside of my car is melting. The dashboard and the black paneling on the doors is melting. When driving in direct sunlight, it is difficult to see out of the front windshield.

My dash has been melting for a long time now, it first started lightly then would dry up but the last two summers it has gotten much worse. You can not see out the windshield driving in sunlight or when lights approach at night, glare from the shine on dash pad reflects up on windshield creating large reflective area. I have taken several images recently that show the clearly defective dangerous conditions this causes & in the images although very clear that it blocks sight... You can not tell the severity that is actually present when traveling and it flashes across certain angles & something pulls out in front of my car i am totally blinded couple seconds. Enough time usually have hit brakes or swerve because can not see at all or if about too hit anything or not, luckily so far nothing has happened but if someone not used too this condition drove my car they would certainly have an accident no question. I have loaned the car too friends and brought back instantly because afraid too drive like this.

Dashboard and side moulding are melting and sticky to the touch.

The dash of my 2007 lexus is 250 has been deteriorating for over a year.it appears to melting and is very shiny causing extreme glare to the front windshield.the glare can be so severe at times that it impedes visibility. I have been in contact with the nearest lexus dealership multiple times regarding this issue.i have sent pictures at their request and can't seem to get a definitive answer as to when repairs will be initiated. The service department is in agreement that this a "severe" case of dash material breakdowni have researched "melting dash" on the lexus forums and the problems with my dash is not an isolated problem.

Very big glare in dashboard that blinds your view in the windshield while driving.

The dashboard is melting and causing a huge glare on the windshield making it hard to drive. Also the material on the door panel is like clay. Your nails dig in.

The dash console is soft and sticky. It's literally melting and mars very easy. Shiny and reflective during the hot sunny days. With a hard press, it will retains finger prints. This is a defective part on the manufacture. Contacted arrowhead lexus in glendale about the problem and they blame on detailing materials such as cleaners and leather protectant breaking down causing the dash to be sticky and melting. This is complete false and inaccurate because i personally wash and clean my car and only used microfiber and warm water to clean the interior. Lexus should look into this problem and fix it the right way rather than blaming the customer who has been loyal and owns 3 lexus so far. I currently own a 2007 lexus gx470 and a 2007 lexus is350. I do not have the problem with my gx. It's the is350 dash that has the dash problem.

I noticed the dash board getting shiny with a sticky feel and it continued to grow in density over months until about 6 months ago when the car wash company i use, told me they have been seeing a lot of that in lexus and toyota models. In essence, my dashboard is melting and the glare from the dashboard/windshield is increasing which is affecting my visibility when driving. Lexus said that since my car is out of warranty and there is no official recall yet, there is nothing that they can do except charge me $1500 to replace the dashboard. They acknowledged they are beginning to see more frequent cases of this.

The dashboard seems to be melting and is sticky and shiny.it creates a blind spot when the sun hits it just right.i contacted my lexus dealer in austin and they say car is out of warranty so they want us to pay to fix it.i don't think a dashboard should be melting and turning glossy. This should be considered a defect that poses a safety issue.

My car dash board and side panels arebeginning to melt.since this is happening exactly on the driver side dash board, it is hard to see through the windshield at times due to having a reflection.

I purchased a 07' is250 in may of 07.i purchased it because of the safety features i purchased a 07' is250 in may of 07.i purchased it because of the safety features available and we had told our sales associate that we were looking for a safe 4 door because we were thinking of having a babyand did not feel comfortable in the car i previously owned 06' mazda 3.never were we told that an infant car seat would not comfortably fit in the back (without you driving with your face in the windshield)i called customer service today and was told that these cars are equipped for a car seat, but it would be a very uncomfortable fit and i would need to look for a small one.then she said to contact my dealer to talk about trade in options.well since i've only owned the car for 11 months, i'm basically going to be completely upside down and there is no way i would be able to afford to trade up.i wish i would've known about the car seats not fitting before i purchased the vehicle.there needs to be some sort of disclaimer on these vehicles so that people who are looking to have a family will not buy them. Or at the very least have a list of compatible car seats.i would've been much better in a camry.my twins will now be swashed into the backseat of this is or i will have to reevaluate my situation.i have excellent credit, but can't afford to have 2 automobile payments. My husband highly recommended lexus for their customer service because he is a previous owner.i think the car seats fit better in a toyota corolla which is also a small vehicle, i thinkthat car seats should fit into vehicles that come with 4 doors.

Minimum visibility because of melting dashboard. The glare from the sun does not let you see.

The dashboard panel has deteriorated to the point that it is soft, tacky, and a significant glare is reflected onto the windshield reducing a driver's visibility. The deterioration continues to worsen spreading throughout the dashboard where the passenger airbag is enclosed.

I have a sticky dashboard withall four of doors are cracking, soft and sticky, upon touching the sticky soft dash rubs off onto your hands and clothes, there's a glare that reflects unto you eyes when the sun shines upon sitting and/or driving which causes a severe vision impairment which can and will cause an accident eventually.

Dashboard is extremely sticky as if melted and causes an awful glare on the windshield during night and day hours.lexus said this was a vanity issue and would not warranty it out.i do nothave the money to replace the dashboard.also the handles on the doors where the same materials is,very soft and able to be manipulated which does not affect driving but it is an issue.

Dashboard on this vehicle is slowly melting off causing a hazardous glare when driving.the glare interferes with vision while driving.with the dashboard melting i am now questioning whether the air bags are in full function or if they are faulty. The door panels are staining clothing and handbags as well. Lexus has said this has been reported many times and they are aware but they are unable to assist with this issue. Driving this car during daylight is becoming dangerous.

Black dashboard of vehicle is "melting" causing a glare on the windshield for the driver.this is a safety concern as your vision of the road and surroundings are compromised.the inside door panels of the vehicle are also made from the same material as the dashboard.from a cosmetic standpoint the dashboard and door panels cannot be touched without leaving a mark or print behind.i have reached out to the local treasure coast lexus dealership and the lexus customer service line twice to be told that i am responsible as the owner to repair.because i did not purchase their warranty, i am out of luck.lexus is negligent for the materials used in production for this vehicle.will it take a vehicle accident before they take action for their customers?i hope not.

The dashboard in my lexus is250 appears to be melting. The dashboard becomes extremely sticky when the vehicle is in the sunlight. As a result of the inferior quality, a shine is beginning to appear on the dashboard which reflects on to the windshield when in the sun. The reflection in the windshield makes it difficult to see when driving and is getting increasingly worse as time passes.

The present is to express my concern in regards to how the interior of my lexus is250 has melted and deteriorated. The dash board is completely shiny which causes a bright reflection in my windshield while driving. Along with the glare in the windshield, the melting plastic could tamper with the functioning of my airbags and may even be releasing harmful chemicals. After reading and researching about the matter i was directed to safercar.gov to voice my concerns and join the thousand of lexus owners dealing with this horrible situation.

The dashboard is cracked, melted, and sticky. I had to cover it up with a new material for cosmetic reason. Also, value of the car decreased by $1000 dollars for the damage. Second, there is a lot of creaking in the car. Third, the alternator died at 120,00 miles.

The contact owns a 2007 lexus is. The contact stated that the dashboard had melted and exhibited cracks.the contact was concerned that the front driver and front passenger side air bags may not deploy properly due to the failure. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for inspection. The mechanic advised that the dashboard needed to be replaced.the dashboard was not replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted. The failure mileage was 103,000.

Dash board melting and door panels getting soft. The dash reflects the sun from the windshield and it causes this reflection so it sometimes becomes hard to see.

My dash boardbecame sticky and i was unable to fiat my windshield program. I contacted lexus and they said the neighborhood of a recall. I looked on the internet and there was plenty of recalls. They replaced my dashboard for me but charge me approximately $500 to do that. They said the car was out of warranty it was a good-faith response. I found the article on abc news in tampa june 14, 2014 the reporter indicated that there's been several problems with lexus nissan cars that have had this sticky dashboard. I know lexus new about it because was all over the internet. They refused to acknowledge it. But i had to pay out-of-pocket and order to be able to drive my car to work. I think this is terrible. They knew about the dashboards. I also have stickiness on the left panel of my car starting to begin. I'm afraid to take that in also my coffee million dollars to get that fixed. It's so sad they knew of this problem.

I bought this car from a dealership and i noticed that the dash was really sticky. I assumed that the dealer had put a product on the dash just to make it look shiny. While i was driving the car home i also noticed that the shiny/sticky dash causes a reflection on the windshield. This bright reflection makes it really hard for me to see while i'm driving. When i got home i tried cleaning the dash but it made no difference. I can't put anything on the dash without having it getting sticky.

The dashboard of my 2007 lexus is 350 is melting.not only is it very sticky, it causes a dangerous glare on sunny days depending on the direction i am driving.i have to adjust my body to lean to one side or the other or up and down to see around the glare.it is dangerous whether the car is in motion or not. The claim is denied by insurance specifying wear and tear and lexus per there being no recall and the program they temporarily implemented around 2014 for replacements has since ended as of may 2017 (shortly before i noticed the dash was melting and not dirty).estimated cost of repair from lexus as of 9/9/19 is $1,950.this doesn't include fixing the side door handles that have deteriorated as well. I have video as well as the pictures attached.

My dash anddoor cover are melting and piece are falling off

Melting dashboard reflect sunlight on windshield which is blinding at times.also melting doors stain and ruin clothes.vsc sensors also stay on even after dealership "repair"they recommend replacing transmission @$5k but no guarantee problem will be solved.

Dashboard has melted with a liquid appearance. When the sun is high in the sky, a reflection causes a severe glare on the windshield. Often it is necessary to move my head over around the glare to see whats directly in front. The dealer so far has just stated we should get the dash replaced at our expense, but this does not seem like something that should have to be replaced on a luxury car after only 5 or 6 years. We may be forced to do this to keep the car safe. We have heard there are some class action lawsuits starting in some states. We may be interested in participating in one of these to get the dash replaced.

The interior dashboard becomes sticky and has formed spots of smooth areas that dangerously reflect sunlight into the driver's eyes.the dashboard has started to pit and crack leaving pieces of melted dash on the interior of the car.the door panels seem to be made of the same material as the dash, as they too are pitting and cracking.

Vehicle dashboard is melted on driver side, causing a glare onto the windshield and cannot see while driving.

I have had replace the h.i.d headlight bulb 3 times on each side. I think they must be defected, other people on lexus chat online have voiced they have the same problems with there lexus. Was there a recall? also rear struts leaking.

The cover over the front passenger is detached and hanging open. This happened some time following a recall repair. I am concerned that something is wrong.both front wheel ball joints failed and i was told that this was a dangerous situation. I had them replaced as i was traveling and not able to go to a lexus dealer.

Interior melting dashboard and door panels, mu 6 year old son gets it all over his hands and clothing , the glare from the dash blunds me in the miami florida sun. Cant touch dashboard are doir panels without making deep cuts and dents . Not sure if its toxic or not but windiws up with ac and my family driving cant be good with these going on .

My 2007 lexus is350 thats under 100k miles has the sticky dashboard and door panels problem and the glare from the sun reflects off the dashboard and into the windshield which is causing me a hard time seeing. I even bought a dash cover mat for my car but it just falls of because none of the tape would stick to the dashboard. Also on top of the dashboard by the windshield, it started warping/ little bit of the dashboard sticking out. I know lexus had a customer support program for the dashboard but mine ended in 2017 and the previous owner never got the recall done. Recently, lexus started a zlz program for other models thats barely affected and i just don't get why they didn't extend the warranty program for the is models from years 2006-2008 since these years are the most effected. All i want is to get my dashboard and door panels replaced and i definitely know other people with the same problem as me wants to get it replaced as well. Lexus needs to extend the customer program again for the people who never got it replaced. I feel that i shouldn't pay for something i didn't cause. The manufacture made the defective part and they should be the ones replacing it if the vehicle is effected.

Sticky dashboard and doors.

Takata recall i have got recall letter last year about sticky dashboard i am still waiting on the company to call me or sent out another recall letter when the parts come in. My dashboard is getting real bad. I am wiping down with soap and water. It getting a reflector to my window when the sun is hitting right at it. Please respond.thanks,[xxx] *dlinformation redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).'

My dashboard is sticky and melting and when the sun shines it causes a glare. It is worse in warmer weather.

The rubbery parts of the dash board and door panels are melting away. Frequently when they get touched, part of them get wiped away. The dash board is very sticky!

The dash board and door panels get sticky in high temperatures

The contact owns a 2007 lexus is 250.the contact stated that this is her second vehicle of the same year, make, and model.she stated that there is a mildew odor coming from the air conditioner vents, which causes her to become violently ill.the odor is present when the vehicle reaches approximately 3,000-3,500 miles.the vehicle was purchased four months ago.the manufacturer attempted to repair the failure four times.as a result, she went into arbitration and the vehicle was included in her state's lemon law.the contact received a new vehicle.the manufacturer stated that the odor is due to mildew growing in the air ducts and, unfortunately, cannot be repaired.the engine size was unknown.the current mileage is 3,500 and failure mileage was 3,000.

Melting dashboard and door panels. This makes the dash sticky and can give off odors.

The dash is shining and obstructs my view of the road

Darh broad broken not safe need be replace

I have a 2007 lexus is350 with the melting dashboard and door panels. The dashboard causes a terrible glare that reflects off the windshield and making it difficult to see the road and causes a smell in the car as well.

My dashboard is cracking and melting. So is the door panels.

Dashboard is cracking and getting really sticky.

My dashboard has a sticky substance, causing a glare on my windshield and blocking my ability to see out of my front window.i recently learned lexus has been aware of this issue for years, but only considered it a "cosmetic defect."however, per the photographs, this defect is causing significant impairment to my ability to see out.i have had my car serviced at nalley lexus in smyrna, ga since i first owned it and the recall was never brought to my attention because they deemed it "cosmetic."i have sent pictures to lexus's corporate offices showing the blocked visibility - the same pictures i am attaching to this claim.they offered me $400 towards the $2000-2500 replacement cost.i am unsure of the exact date which the issue started.it has progressively worsened.only in the past month did i begin searching online for solutions and found this is a well-known lexus/toyota defect.lexus should be required to notify customers of any defect at their dealers, not just ones they deem as safety.

The dashboard & sideboard panels are melting and is sticky. It's dangerous to driveand should be a safety recall as when the sun shines the reflection is blinding and i can not see in front of me. I would consider this a safety issue and it should be a recall.

The dash and side panels get extremely sticky and. Have an odor that affects vision while driving not to mention the glare from the dash.toyota and lexus are aware ofthe problem as there was a class action lawsuit against them that was dismissedonce they agreed to take care of the problem. They failed to follow thru leaving approximately 3.5 million vehicles with the problem.i have spoken to lexus with their attitude being not a thing are they willing to do.

Melting dashboard reflect sunlight on windshield which is blinding at times.also melting doors stain and ruin clothes.vsc sensors also stay on even after dealership "repair"they recommend replacing transmission @$5k but no guarantee problem will be solved.

The dashboard of the car becomes sticky and shiny when under the sun. This creates glare on the windshield of the car and is so bright that it makes it hard to see the road during the daytime.

The front dashboard and side panel doors melt in heat and can cause serious damage to passengers in in an accident. I live in florida and have complained about this for 3 years and continue to get the run around and placed on waiting list for several years.

Car dashboard is damage and the doors plastic is peeling off

My whole dash and doors are sticky and peel off at the slightest thing. I've had the car for less than a year and the it's literally coming off

Minimum visibility because of melting dashboard. The glare from the sun does not let you see.

Very big glare in dashboard that blinds your view in the windshield while driving.

Rear view mirror is blurred and develops interior scratches rendering the mirror practically useless.

As i drove down i95 my visibility was impaired by a large glare on my window cause by a reflection off of the melted and defected lexus is250's dash board. I have brought this up to lexus of pembroke pines and was told the can not do anything for me.

I purchased a previously-owned lexus is 250 in 2017. At the time i was unaware of the "melting dashboard" issue that is associated with the make and model. As i begin to notice the sticky appearance of the dashboard, i began to conduct some research. During my research, i found that toyota corporation was aware of the situation and issued an extended warranty and that a recall has never been issued. Unfortunately, my complaints to lexus other reiterated this decision. The melting dashboard has become a safety concern. When the sun shines on the dashboard, it produces a reflection that makes for poor visibility. (for the date this incident occurred, i am entering that date of filing this form).

My dashboard is sticky and melting and when the sun shines it causes a glare. It is worse in warmer weather.

Took car to dealership due to shiny and sticky dashboard. Was told this is a known problem but will not repair under good will since warranty has passed. Dashboard is extremely sticky, will this cause air bag problems during an accident? the shiny surface also reflects and makes driving difficult in sunlight.

Have a 2007 lexus is250.was on a freeway yesterday and suddenly heard this loud pop and thought something exploded or landed on my roof.i saw debris coming off my roof thru my rearview mirror.i opened my sunroof shade and saw a huge hole right in the middle of my sunroof!!my sunroof just shattered!i thought something hit me but i looked around there were no bridges, overpass, nor cars close to me so this can't be rocks or other objects.
