My lexus is 250 air bag light came on. I took it in for service and lexus of las vegas and they informed me that the wiring harness needs to be replaced because lexus designed the part wrong. I learned that if i'm in an accident that my safety system will not work. Lexus needs to replace my death trap now. Fix the wiring harness....[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The vehicle had the front airbags replaced under a national recall.after having the recall done, i received, by usps mail, a "customer support program notification - zlj" sent to mefrom the manufacturer describing an extended warranty, as issues have occurred with the new drivers side knee airbag inflator triggering the srs light to come on after the work was done based on faulty crimping.this vehicle is a second vehicle and does not get driven very often.in june of 2020, i noticed the airbag light coming on intermittently when first starting the car. I remembered the notice and called the dealer.i was told on june 15th that the harness would need to be replaced and the warranty ended on june 12th, 2020. They are refusing to repair the new harness that was installed under recall.i was quoted $2700 out of pocket for the repair.the dealer installed a known defective part, and are now refusing to perform the necessary repairs.see attached photo for more information.the replacement parts should be limited by mileage, not by time, as the vehicle has only been driven a few thousand miles since the work was performed. The faulty crimping in the replaced harness should be a new recall.

The contact owns a 2006 lexus is250. The contact stated the air bag warning light remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and a diagnostic test was performed which located a failure code in the air bag wiring harness. The air bag harness needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 79,000. Updated 06/05/2014*lj updated 06/09/2014

Before the airbage recall the airbage light did not came on, now since the airbage recall was done on 7/24/20 at valley lexus modesto ca. Now the aitbage light came on and i call the valley lexus they told me the airbage light is not part off the airbage recall, and they told me i have paid for dino, but i did not cause the light to came on. Takata inflators - cannot use car whenever i have more than 3 passengers. No solution provided after the recall alert received for 2 months. No news about when the repair can be done.

The contact owns a 2006 lexus is 350. The contact received a recall notification for nhtsa campaign number: 16v340000 (air bags) and stated that the part needed was unavailable to perform the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

Airbag light indicator is on and lexus insisted they replace the entire wiring harness for over 2k due to safety issues. The price of this repair for an electrical fault is obscene and is a common issue with this model of lexus according to owner forums.

L-sb-0167-08the srs airbag light is on for awhile.this is a well known defect and issue with these vehicle. A faulty wire harness.there is tsb but it is only covered under warranty. I find it surprising that this is not considered a safety recall given the potential harm and risk of the airbag not deploying due to a faulty harness.

The dashboards and interior plastic panels in certain lexus and toyota models is melting in high humidity areas. This can cause the passenger airbag to not properly deploy in a collision due to the dashboard degrading. I have filed a complaint with lexus and asked for a letter stating the degradation of the dashboard will not interfere with the airbag deployment and i was declined. Lexus (toyota) is actively avoiding this safety issue. I would like to speak with someone from the nhtsa about this safety issue please.

Takata recall

The airbag lightis now constantly displaying red on my dashboard.nalley lexus of smyrna ga stated that there is a short in the wire harness and it needs to be repaired at a cost of $3300 or the airbags will not work in the event of a crash. From reading online in the lexus owners blogs, this is very common and i have read in the forums that lexus, in 2006, 2007, installed a wiring harness that was too short. The harness plugs become loose and in some cases the wire insulation becomes chafed and shorts out the airbag system. I am not aware where the poster got their information but i, along with others think this is should be a saftey recall.

Takata recall i have yet to have my airbagreplaced it has been 6 months since the letter notification was sent out. I no longer feel safe driving the car with the possibility of the air bag going off during a collision and sending shrapnel in any direction. Dash board recall i have been on the wait list for almost 2 years and my dash board has yet to be replaced. The dash board has been getting worse every month. The dash board has become so shiny its almost impossible to drive the car on sunny days.

Takata recall

The srs airbag light randomly comes on at variable times. After running the analysis with a bosch obd1200, it appears that the drivers side knee squib circuit is showing an open fault. When the seat is moved back, the wiring harness fails. Its believed that the factory installation of the wiring harness is too short, causing strain on the harness connector. This causes a fault on the airbag module and renders the drivers side knee airbag inoperable. This should be considered a safety concern and a recall should fix this issue.

The passenger side airbag warning light on my vehicle turned on.when i took my vehicle to lexus for a recall i had them check why the light was on.they told me the air bag wiring harness needs to be replaced at a cost of $2546.they also said this is a common issue that lexus is well aware of and issued a tsb for it in 2008 but would only cover the repair under the initial warranty period because they had not received enough complaints to make a recall.well now 6 years after they issued the tsb i'm sure there has to be enough complaints because a simple google search shows how many cars are affected by this problem. The biggest issue is the airbags will not deploy in the event of and accident until the repair is made.i contacted lexus corporate twice and both times they were not willing to help.i believe lexus should cover this repair since it is a major safety concern and lexus is well aware of the problem. Tamara recall:would be very beneficial to know the ecact date the air bag fix will be available.current uncertainty as to whether an air bag explosion will occur is unsettling.

I got an accident, try to save deer and fox but brake didn't work properly and dis-balanced the car and my car roll over few time and hit from front and back but no airbag deployed, and stability control didn't work.

Vehicle just turned over 100,000 miles. 6-2020 upon a morning start, the vehicle had trouble starting up almost as if it had fuel starvation. I cranked the vehicle up a few more times it was ok it turned on. Upon driving the vehicle had extremely unreliable acceleration , very had sputtering from and to stop lights this was from my commute to work. The vehicle had become unpredictable, some days it would act like that some days it wouldn't. This started to bother me as i rarely worry about situations unless they're dangerous. Late 6-2020 on my way home from work at about 5:00pm the vehichle started sputtering about 1 mile away from my home. As i crossed the intersection of taylor and railroad street. The vehicle died on me at the intersection. I had thought this was just the car with the acceleration problem. So i proceeded to turned it back on. After 10 minutes of cranking the vehicle i had drained the battery completely. Car is stranded, traffic was a huge build up behind me, vehicle ways well over 3000lbsso i attempted to quick charge the battery, after 10 minutes i had already bystanders help me push the vehicle to the side, due to the massive build up of traffic. 7-2020 after 2 seperate diagnostics i had replaced the fuel injector pump and a cold start valve at the engine. Car was running ok until mid 7-2020 when it began having the same exact issues again. As this was my only vehicle at the moment i had no other choice but to use it one week later after going to my mothers house from work. The vehicle decided to shut off on me completely this time on the road at 35 mph zone. Car seemed to starve of fuel and i had to quickly react since the car was in motion and luckily pullover. Fortunately it was a light day of traffic at the road of cook st. Thats when i had enough, i am complaining because this vehicle is extremely unsafe and its an issue i can't solve!

The concern i have for my lexus is 250 is that 3 major safety recall repairs have been completed by the dealer. It feels unsafe to drive to date as it has electrical issues that have caused it to lock up while driving. A problem with the stability control, steering and acceleration most notable in the rain. Today i learned of the takata inflator recalls. I believe this model should be considered in wholefor a safety recall.

Airbag light indicator is on and lexus insisted they replace the entire wiring harness for over 2k due to safety issues. The price of this repair for an electrical fault is obscene and is a common issue with this model of lexus according to owner forums.

They a/c controller is not working, transmission issue, battery is new but i always jump the battery and a warning red triangle on the dashboard.

I was driving my car when all of a sudden the sensor advised me my coolant was low as i looked over to my left shoulder i notice smoke coming out before it caught fire. Looks like the main source of the fire was an electrical issue that generated the wheel cover and bumper to start ignoring faster

My navigation system screen stopped working while 1000 miles away from home. The biggest problem with the screen going out was the fact that all of the heating and air conditioning controls are ran through that same unit.without being able to adjust my temperature in the vehicle i am not able to defrost the windshield in times when it may fog up.

Melting dashboard. Shortly after purchasing my lexus is250, i was contacted by lexus informing me that they would be repairing their melting interior panels.it has been over a year and despite several attempts to get the repair completed have been told that i am on the list to be contacted.i have still not been contacted to have this repair completed. It makes it extremely difficult to see during daylight.

Extremely disappointed by a couple of issues lexus refuses to fix. I bought this car with 84k on the odometer and less than a year after that all these problems arise. The steering is safety issue that needs to be replaced asap. Driving anything over 50 mph the steering starts to become notchy at the center and at times difficult to keep in a straight line. The steering wheel whines as i turn almost as if something is about to break. Lexus quoted me $3000 to replace the electric power steering which is absolutely ridiculous. I would love to replace it but $3000 dollars on a part that shouldn't have broken anytime soon is very disappointing. Then to make matters worse there is a known engine leak. The timing chain cover leaks oil and the dealer quoted me $5000 dollars to fix it. That is $8000 dollars worth of repairs for two problems that lexus needs to recognize. This doesn't include the other very common problems such as the navigation screen melting in the summer time so that it is inoperable. Now the dashboard becomes sticky and shiny making it hard to see in the daytime and it chips so easily. Im extremely disappointeddue to the fact that lexus usually makes solid vehicles. Many other owners are facing the same issues and they need to be recognized.

Hi ! so i have 2006 is250 with carbon buildup , i was driving find i stop at a stop light car turn off out of nowhere i turn off power then try to restart.ihad a hardtime trying to start the car .you have to push gas pandel ..i told to my car to glendale lexus , they told me that i have carbon buildup so somehow i end up paying 800 for major tune up

The contact owns a 2006 lexus is. While driving 50 mph, the vehicle lost engine power and stalled. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The contact was informed that the bolt used to secure the housing and sprocket of the variable valve timing system failed. The vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 13v395000 (engine). The contact stated that the vehicle was towed to the dealer for the recall repair. The contact was informed that the dealer would repair the vehicle according to the recall; however, any damage caused to the engine from the failure would not be covered under the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 135,000.

At 30,000 miles, we are being told that the engine needs to be rebuilt due to excess carbon buildup. It has been serviced through lexus of concord through 8/17 and then lexus monterey until present.i accelerated on the freeway to get in to the other lane but the car lost power. I coasted to an exit and got off. The skid control light, check engine light and ! light all came on.i drove it on surface roads and the check vcs light came on.on a slight decline, it would only go 5 mph. I had it towed to lexus of monterey peninsula.

My vehicle stalled at a red light and would not restart. After being towed to the dealer, they came back with a diagnosis of massive carbon build up. They advised that i reach out to lexus corporate to determine if there was any support i could receive. After several weeks of going back and forth, lexus corporate refused to provide any assistance because the car could not produce any of the necessary trouble codes to qualify for their customer support program surrounding this issue. After much hesitation, i agreed to pay $700 to have the top cleaning done. After top cleaning was complete, the dealer calls to report that the car still wouldn't start and they didn't know what was causing the issue. Now they have an "expert mechanic" from lexus corporate coming out to inspect the vehicle and determine the problem. This took another 1 1/2 to 2 weeks to complete. I received a phone call from lexus corp, that the issue was now a timing chain that was going to be $1200 to replace. When i spoke with the dealer, they agreed to credit back my $700 from the misdiagnosis but quoted that the timing chain would be $1700, not $1200. After several days of haggling, i finally agreed to pay $1350, only to get another call from the dealer now saying that metal shavings have fallen down into the engine block and the entire engine would need to be replaced. Although i have all of my service records, lexus is trying to pin the blame on me, stating "lack of oil changes". My vehicle's year, model and date of service are all qualified to be covered under this warranty. This car has proven to experience these problems associated with this recall and because the engine is in such bad shape and is unable to produce any codes, they are refusing to honor this warranty. This has now been going on for nearly 3 months and i still have no car and no resolution in site.

Engine is burning oil at a rapid rate. It requires 2 to 3 quarts of oil every 5000 miles.

Vehicle randomly shakes, intermittently runs rough while braking.dealer could not diagnose issue 3 times until recent check found engine pistons and valve springs need to be replaced.lexus agreed to accommodate service and labor costs but parts are back ordered requiring a week or two wait time for repair.

Engine burning so much oil after oil change. Dealer says thats normal. I have to keep adding oil every 1000 mile right after they changed the oil. This is not normal.

My engine burn oil more than it should. I added a full bottle in less than 3000 miles. When starting it in the morning i can smell the burning oil!!

My rear view mirror is discolored and has black spots on it.it's a safety issue and it's difficult to see. I've told the dealer several times and they said it would cost over 800 to replace the part.i see many lexus owners have the same issue and i believe its a default in the part.i don't think i should pay 800 to have it replaced.

Fuel fumes noticed coming from under hood after vehicle is turned off. Mechanic confirms fuel leak from fuel rail near pressure sensor. Mechanic warned of fire concern with active fuel leak. Recall elf performed on vehicle in 2015 that should have prevented leak but now fuel leak is present.

My car was leaking gas and has fuel vapor smells inside the cabin. Strong smell of gas and when i started my car gas would leak alot. The recall number was (11v029000) and i was told i wasn't eligible for this. I had to bring my car to a local shop to get this checked out and they charged me $300 labor and $300 for the part. I am really frustrated about this situation. Please help

Owner manual, saying it's lifetime no changing transmission fluid. Now having problems with my transmission because of that. I went on lexus forums, and a lot of lexus owner having transmission problems because of transmission fluid. Lexus is not standing behind their products.

When driving the the vsc and check engine light comes on. When i'i was driving, my vehicle got stuck in 3rd gear on the freeway. I had to slow down abruptly because my rpm's were high due to the fact that it was stuck in 3rd gear. I didnt want to blow out my engine due to high rpm's and i slowed down suddenly. I almost caused an accident because of this reason.

Check engine, vsc and trac off light comes on. Torque converter clutch solenoid transmission code.

They a/c controller is not working, transmission issue, battery is new but i always jump the battery and a warning red triangle on the dashboard.

The contact owns a 2006 lexus is 250. While driving approximately 40 mph, the seat belt strap slipped out of the buckle. The contact stated that the failure occurred for approximately two months. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 131,059.

There is a loud noise coming from under the hood when you press on the brakes. When stepping on the brake before coming to a full stop there is a pumping noise. From the front engine area. The brakes locked up on me when i was parked and trying to start the car and i was unable to start the car. I pumped the brakes and turned the wheel and it started. When sitting still at a light with my foot on the brake the noise from the front engine area gets louder. The sound is a loud, knocking, ideling sound. It feels like something is stuck, like the car is trying to run properly but cant because something is stopping it. This feels like an abs system issue. I have heard that other lexus owners are having the same issue with this same make and model. This is a dangerous issue that needs to be looked into. This is an across the board issue and is affecting way more than just a few custermers.

Rear brake calipers seized, needed replacement.excess rust, material appears defective.also cause of rear brake pad replacement.

I got an accident, try to save deer and fox but brake didn't work properly and dis-balanced the car and my car roll over few time and hit from front and back but no airbag deployed, and stability control didn't work.

My wife's is 250 was taken in for it's 40,000 mi. Oil change. She received a call that the rear brakes needednew rotors, pads and calipers. I called an was told that the rear brakes were not working at all because the calipers were frozen. I was also told strangely enough that the rotors were rusted and had a ridge on them and could not be machined despite the calipers being frozen. One probable cause i was told was because the car had low miles on it. It gets driven every day about 20-30 miles. According to them my wife was driving around in a car with no rear brakes. I have yet to receive a satisfactory answer from the dealer about why this could happen>

I was driving and my steering wheel power went in and out with no warnings & my power steering fluid is full..i was turning at the end of my road and thought i was going to crash because of it..i called my husband to come get the car and get it home , we haven't drove it since.

The power steering stopped working when the parked car was started. When we tried to drive it, it was extremely hard to steer.

My 2006 lexus is250 suddenly lost power steering one day, when shifting from park to drive. Red p/s light showed up on dashboard, so i had to put the car in park, turn the engine off, and turn it back on to resolve the issue. However, it wasn't long before this stopped working. P/s light sometimes also turns on while i'm on the freeway, and i have to man-handle the steering wheel to pull over. I brought my car to my mechanic, who replaced the rack and pinion twice. Then, i brought my car to dealership to replace the ecm. Thousands of dollars in repairs but the issue was still not fixed.

The problem is a previous tsb on lexus's website called 9lc special service campaign for the electric power steering link assembly. The steering is very unsafe with random wandering between lanes and is very notchy with rapid movement once a certain angle is reached. It has a dead zone of about 20 degrees on each side and every imperfection in the road causes the car to wander but the steering is not giving any feedback to indicate its wandering out of the lane you just have to watch the edges of the lane and correct it constantly. 6 lexus dealerships were unable to diagnose the problem and end up costing be 5000 +dollars trying to fix the problem replacing the suspension, balljoints, lower control arms, rack and pinion + ecu, inner/outter tie rods and an intermediate steering shaft. Nothing has resolved the probem and they can't seem to fix it or diagnose it. They just say trade it for a newer one. There are many is250/350 owners between 2006 and 2009 that are affected by this and many have had a serious accident because of this especially caused by long hwy ramps and exits in which the steering binds to one side and you have to violently correct it or it will hit the curb or wander into another lane extremely unsafely. This is not a comfort issue, it is purely a high level safety concern as there is no remedy and lexus dealerships and corporate refuse to acknowledge a problem at all. Please investigate this. I think it is very dangerous to other drivers. I drive a honda accord and toyota camry and have never experienced this with either of them and they have over 220k miles each. I have visited 10 independent shops as well and got 10 alignments from dealerships to performance shops and no one is able to figure out why this is happening or how to fix it.

Electronic power steering locked up out of the blue while driving. Very dangerous. Almost seemed as if steering was fighting to turn the direction opposite of the direction i was turning.

The entire dashboard and top section of the front door panels in my 2006 lexus is250 are basically melting. The consistency has deteriorated so drastically that the dash is shiny, sticky and covered in small nicks and scratches. The dash is so soft even the slightest touch leaves a permanent scar! efforts to clean or treat the dash/door panels are useless - anything i use just sticks. My clothes have been ruined by black sticky residue from simply coming in contact with the door panels. The sheen from the melting dash reflects directly onto the windshield at such an angle that it's difficult to see in some lighting. This is obviously a manufacturing error lexus refuses to correct. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Dashboard and side interior door panels appear to be melting and cracking. Lexus agreed to partially pay for replacement of the dashboard, to which i had to agree because of safety concerns. Dashboard would reflect light, causing problems seeing out of the windshield. Lexus also agreed to partially pay for door panels, but because my cost would still have been over $1500, i could not accept their offer. I was told at the dealer that they had never seen this, which i later came to find out this was an ongoing problem. A service bulletin was issued months prior that i was never notified about.

When you spend tens of thousands of dollars on a car, you don't expect it to literally melt away. My2006 lexus is 250 it's literally melting away, every day. The dashboard and side panels are turning sticky and melting in the florida sun. When i touch the dashboard my fingers stick and turn black.it makes me mad!! every time i get in my car i worry the melting dashboard could be a safety issue.the dash reflects the sun from the windshield and it causes this reflection so it sometimes becomes hard to see.

The dashboard is melting and is so shiny when the sun or light hits the windshield it blinds youvery very dangerous something must be done no one else should have to die before you guys force toyota/ lexus to recall and fix this problem !!!!!!

My dash and doors are melting. I took my car to lexus last year and they offered to pay for half, but my half was too expensive for me to pay, 3,000.00. I also don't feel that i should pay for a melting car when i take excellent care of my car. It is always in the garage when i am at home, and i keep a sun shield in the dash when i am at work. I love my car and it only has 78,000 miles; it runs great, but it is melting! i called lexus again when i heard a story on the news that others were having the same issue. They told me to have it inspected again, and then informed me that they would probably not pay for the repair because my car is a 2006. I will never be able to sell it unless i resolve this issue. I am so frustrated.

Dash started to melt in the sun. Dash became brittle and sticky and glared in the sun.lexus replaced the dash as a good will gesture.now my door panels are doing the same.they issued a technical issue on this. But still won't replace as no recall has been issued yet.i can pay the 2000.00 and if a recall is done they will reimburse me. Known issue on 06-08 lexus, toyotaand mazdas. Tsib#. Issues with melting dashboard due to texas heat. Dash falling apart and has soft spots causing a glare on the windshield when hit by sunlight.

The dashboard on my lexus is250 has started to literally melt.it is very sticky to the touch and very shiny.the shininess causes a very serious glare on my front windshield which can blind the driver.

The dashboard is sticky and melting, which causes a blinding glare when driving making it hard to see when driving.

I noticed that the dash board and the side panels (both sides -drivers and passenger side)on my lexus-is-350 have been melting away since july 2010 and after much complaint, the dealer replaced the dash board cover in february 2013. However the dealership service department refuses to replace the side panels. They named the problem as a "cosmetic concern" on 2/26/2013 when i complained that the color of the replaced dash did not match and the material appeared to be of lower quality. I learned recently from an investigative report in south florida (nbc- 6) that the lexus had issued a service bulletin in 2011 about this manufacturer defect problem (called interior panel shining...."sticky leather problem"). But the dealership never informed me of this service bulletin at the time it came to them. I believe that the leather parts (both dash board and side panels) are a manufacturer's defect and should replace it at their expense although i am out of warranty at this time. Thesmellfrom the melting parts, i suspect can be toxic. At times, i get an allergic reaction when driving the car.

The material on the front dashboard and front door sides is softening and melting.it is extremely worse during the summer season.it leaves an adhesive type residue on everything that touches it.

My dashboard and door panels are melting. Concerns about glare and airbag.

The dash board has been made of of defective material, it has a very bad glare like a mirror.i get so scared because the glare gets really bad the sunnier it is out side.it reflects right into my eyes while driving.

Interior panel parts (dashboard, door panels) melts in hot, humid climates.during the summer of 2012 my used (purchased in may 2012) lexus is350's dashboard and upper door panel surfaces would glisten and emit a strong chemical odor when parked outside in the sun/heat.the wet dashboard surface would reflect off the windshield and impair vision during driving.it would take less than 30 mins parked in the sun/heat for the panel surfaces to begin glistening.attempts to clean the surface of the dashboard and door panels did not work, as the material remaining would again melt and glisten.lexus has issued an internal service bulletin to its dealerships of the problem.i complained to lexus and they agreed to compensate me for the cost of a new dashboard, but i had to pay for the labor (around $800).i also had to replace the door panels myself with used ones sourced from less hot/humid climates (4 at around $150 each).this is an important safety issue, as vision while driving was significantly impeded by the reflection off the dashboard.in addition to this immediate safety risk, the strong chemical smell in the car could be potentially toxic and pose long-term health risks.

The dashboard and the side panels have melted and are sticky and unsightly.these areas are decomposing.

Bought a certified pre-owned 2006 lexus is250 from hawaii dealer, noticed there was a massively blinding glare from the dashboard when driving during the morning and evening hours. Upon further inspection the dashboard and various other interior trim pieces felt soft/sticky and would easily scratch and gouge. This has been a known problem among owners of 2006-2013 lexus is sedans.

Dashboard is sticky/melting. Interferes with driving visibility and is a safety issue.

Sun causes shiny dash which results in a safety issue with resulting excessive glare on the windshield. Cracks and splitting in dash may result in possible degradation to the passenger front air bag because the cracks and splits in dash could potentially cause the airbags to deploy.

Whenever the car is exposed under the sun. The dashboard seems to be melting which makes it shiny and is making difficult to drive.

Under heated conditions dash becomes very sticky.door panels are melting, cracking and falling apart.

When i touched the dashboard it was melting. Also any little touch to door panels marks it. Pieces are falling off as well every time i get into the car. It's ridiculous it's a lexus! please help.

The dash and door panels are melting. The product is defective and the glare from this is very dangerous!! lexus should fix the defective part!

The dashboard is melting and the sun light is reflecting off the dashboard and blinding the driver.

Affected part is the dashboard the dashboard is shiny to werei can't see when the sun or at night headlights reflects off it. Its sticky and soft and melting. I really try not to drive it if necessary.

The dashboard on the lexus is350 and 250 are melting. They are defective and lexus refuses to fix the problem.

The dashboard and door are melting in my car.

Melting dash and door panels.

Dash and black parts of doors are melting, cracking, and pieces are falling off.when driving and in sun dash gets very shiny and reflects onto windshield.concerned about the integrity of the dash and possible affect it could have on the air bags.

I have a melting dashboard.the dashboard has been turning soft, gooey, and shiny over the years. If i reach for something on the dashboard a piece of the dashboard comes off with the slightest touch of my hand. The shine is extremely dangerous in that it obstructs and distracts the view of the driver. A recall should be alerted to resolve this issue. I've contacted lexus about this issue several times and i get no help from regarding thedashboard.

Interior dash and door panels material has become rubbery and sticky, tends to chip off and smear like melted rubber.

Dashboard and door panel melting away, i have reported this to lexus several times and they refuse to fix the problem. Finger nails touch the dashboard and parts coming off. The material is defective and need replace.

Sticky / meltingdash, dash cracking, all door panels melting and cracking staining clothes when comes in contact with. Both problems creating a glare when driving. I bought this car new and lexus would not stand behind their product knowing its defective, even when it was under the bumper to bumper and lexus brand extended warranty. The car is under the sun 1 hr per day while driving. Vehicle is in a garage both at home and work and this still happened.

The dashboard is turning into a sticky shiny mess. In bright sunlight the dash is so shiny that it reflects the sunshine back into the inside of the windshield making it very hard to see out when driving in certain conditions. Although the dash looks terrible and one could think that it's just a cosmetic issue, that is not the case as the conditions that the dashboard reflects the light into the windshield can make for hazardous driving or accidents.

Sticky dash and door panels when its hot

When i touched the dashboard it was melting. Also any little touch to door panels marks it. Pieces are falling off as well every time i get into the car. It's ridiculous it's a lexus! please help.

Dashboard and door panels are liquefying. The melting dashboard is creating a haze on the windshield that's obtrusive for safe driving. The door panels are cracking every where.

After spending lots of money on lexus i didn't expect for it to be melting. The whole dashboard and side panels are turning sticky and melting. When i touch it my fingers turn black and sticky. Its also hard to see when the sun shines directly on the car because the dash reflects the sun from the windshield.

It has severe deterioration on the inside door and cab panels caused by a material used by lexus that under extreme heat waves like the one's we experienced in south florida, makes the surface of this material soft to the touch, rubbery typed, staining anything it comes in contact with.

The contact owns a 2006 lexus is250. The contact stated that the driver and passenger side door panels, and the dashboard had melted and became sticky. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who advised that the door panels and the dash board needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was not available.the approximate failure and current mileage was. 22,000.

I bought this vehicle used from a dealership in miami, fl. The first couple of weeks i noticed the driver and passenger door panels were getting scratched by simply touching them. A couple of weeks after that, the dashboard on the vehicle started to "melt" and became very sticky. Also by simply touching the dashboard, it become/becomes scratched and pieces come out when touched with fingernails. Sometimes it is difficult/impossible to see when the sun is out because it creates a huge glare due to the dash melting. This problem has been getting worst as time passes. I contacted the dealer regarding the problem and they told me they were aware of it but i would have to pay the labor and dash cost if i wanted the problem to go away, est cost: $1200. The same problems are on driver, passenger and backseat door panels.

Interior door panels and dash are melting...

I was driving back to los angeles from a trip to san francisco, half way to los angeles. My transmission breaks down . I was going at about 90+mph , so i immediately had to get to the right hand side of the highway , it was definitely dangerous and the outcome could of been worse.

Hi ! so i have 2006 is250 with carbon buildup , i was driving find i stop at a stop light car turn off out of nowhere i turn off power then try to restart.ihad a hardtime trying to start the car .you have to push gas pandel ..i told to my car to glendale lexus , they told me that i have carbon buildup so somehow i end up paying 800 for major tune up

Purchased a car... Owner said it has 139k miles on dashboard clean title no accidentafter i completed the deal i decided to look up the carfax it is stating 183k miles i believe the they did the odometer rollback fraudi also checked on lexus service history report also stating 183k in 03/2017the seller said everything is originalno changes were made

The issue is my dashand door panels are sticky/melting. They peal at the slightest touch and are only getting worse and worse by the day.

Dashboard and door panels are liquefying. The melting dashboard is creating a haze on the windshield that's obtrusive for safe driving. The door panels are cracking every where.

This is in regards to dashboard stickiness, cracking and windshield glare/reflection.also the door panels.the understanding lexus issued warranty enhancement now they indicate the program has expired.we jut purchased the vehicle for our 16 year old daughter and this is major concerns since it had safety impact in my mind due to the glaring and possible impact to the air bag due to the workmanship flaw that lexus is admitting to.i was only allowed to upload the pictures below.i couldn't upload additional pictures.

Sticky dash and door panels when its hot

Re: lexus recall for sticky panels inside cars, including 2006 is 250dear nhtsa:according to best recollection, as well as information provided by lexus corporate and glendale, ca lexus dealership, the following events have transpired. Years ago, i was notified to bring my car in for sticky/melting dashboard and side panel issues. In dec 2015, i brought the car to lexus dealership in glendale, ca to replace the front panel. During the dec 2015 visits, i inquired about the side panels too, front and back. I was told these parts were not available yet and when they were, i'd know. I kept in contact with lexus glendale, and came back in in dec 2017 finally to replace side panels front and back.during dec 2017 visit, i was told side panels for the back were not available yet and only front side panels were completed. It is now 2/25/21, and nothing is fixed on back side panels. Today, the dealer has stated they cannot assist further.lexus corporate passed me off in jan 2021, to local dealer lexus glendale. Lexus corporate claims since the recall efforts purportedly 'ended,' in 2017, there's nothing they can do. I relied on their agent, the glendale dealer to fairly manage this process for years.2.4.21-2.25.2021, was stream of calls/texts with lexus glendale who 1st stated they would look into this on their insurance and getting it taken care of, to looking for old records that they could not reconcile because they had a systems change, to today 2/25/21with the dealer stating they cannot help further. Nothing has been done to date by lexus corporate or glendale lexus to address this matter, which each shirking its accountability to the other. Lexus's models from 2006 and spanning a number of years have had multiple upon multiple recalls. Everything from gas components, to brakes, to fuel injectors, to melting dashboards and etc. Can you please help?

The inside panels of the doors are all nicked up with deep gouges. When we have hot weather it gets sticky and soft and any nick or bump shows up.just like the dash boards.i have no kids or pets in the car, i am the only adult drives and it looks aweful.

There is a very foul odor that fills the cabin of the car, it started approx, 2 months ago when i began using the a/c.lexus service did a forced foam cleaning of the h vac system and 3 days of ionizing the air, the cabin filter was also replaced.none of this has helped and the smell is unbearable please help!!this odor is not always full strength, it is present after the car has sat over night or just parked for a couple of hours.it is present when driving.no rhyme or reason and no one can rid the vehicle of this foul ratchet odor or tell me what is causing it.

Clogged ac drain line leaking into car. All carpets in the vehicle are soaked and have caused mold to grow in carpet.

Dash is very sticky, this causes a visually impairing glare during the daytime. The glare is so bad that sometimes you cannot see the car in front of you without wearing sunglasses.

My dash board is melting and the glare on the windshield is really bad. It's hard to drive during the day and sometimes at night when the street lights reflect from the shinny melted dashboard.ive called lexus many times and was told to wait. Its been 3 years now and the dash is getting worst with time and the glare is becoming intolerable. I've almost hit or ran over items i did not see due to the glare. Not safe!i try and not drive during noon time but live in south florida. It's always sunny. The picture is on a good day.

Dashboard is sticky and peeling causing safety and visibility issues. I have contacted lexus and they are no longer fixing the issue, though it has been recalled. They have closed the recall but this is still an issue and the recall should be reopened.

The material on the front dashboard and front door sides is softening and melting.it is extremely worse during the summer season.it leaves an adhesive type residue on everything that touches it.

The dashboard of my 2006 lexus is250 is slowly melting and becoming sticky. Unfortunately as it has, deteriorated the dashboard really reflects the light, so much so that it becomes blinding at times. I have not treated my dash with any chemicals or cleaners this is a known problem among lexus owners, it just at times becomes very worrisome since the glare from the dash onto my windshield becomes blinding at times if the light hits it right.

Interior dash and door panels material has become rubbery and sticky, tends to chip off and smear like melted rubber.

Accelerator stuck open and had to apply brakes which kept me moving forward in a skidding motion on freeway; luckily i didn't hit the person in front of me as i applied both feet on brake pedal sending the car skidding in a breaking pattern!accelerator finally released.

My 2006 is 250 71,000 miles has black spots and discolorations on my rear view mirror. It is almost as if someone sprayed it with something that didn't come off, or peeled a sticker off, definitely it isn't clear and won't clean.part 571< 571.110571.112 >subpart b - federal motor vehicle safety standards 571.111 standard no. 111; rearview mirrors.s1. Rear view mirror has degraded and is a common problem. Has black spots and lines that render it unusable and prevent the driver from being able to see behind them via utilization of the mirror leading to accidents.

The dashboard is melting and is so shiny when the sun or light hits the windshield it blinds youvery very dangerous something must be done no one else should have to die before you guys force toyota/ lexus to recall and fix this problem !!!!!!

Back in sept 2014, i notice a brown stripe in the rear view mirror, but i tough it was dirty, then after a few months it got worse, and now is very difficult to see, i think it should be an investigation of this problem and a recall because there are many owners of this model with that problem. There is no reason for a mirror to turn brown like that unless is like 50 yrs old.

Rear view mirror has black spots forming. It is obstructing the view from the rear view mirror thus creating a potential safety hazard. Black spots are forming inside the mirror and not on the surface.

The dashboard on my lexus is250 has started to literally melt.it is very sticky to the touch and very shiny.the shininess causes a very serious glare on my front windshield which can blind the driver.

The rear view mirror has become blackened with spots over time, visibility is reduced.

Melted dashboard and door panels - 2006 lexus is350 - under heat and humidity, the dashboard on certain lexus models melt which gives off a glare to the driver and passenger which makes it difficult to see the road during the day without sunglasses. This is a hazard because i can not see the car in front of me when it brakes unless i wear sunglasses. Lexus has given a complimentary satisfaction repair but with a deadline to be on a waiting list. This should not be a "complimentary" repair, this should be a mandatory replacement for the hazard it can cause the driver and the drivers on the road. I have reported this to lexus head quarters and they denied my request for repair due to not being on the list by end of may 2017. When in motion, this car should not be operated by anyone with visibility issues.

Sun causes shiny dash which results in a safety issue with resulting excessive glare on the windshield. Cracks and splitting in dash may result in possible degradation to the passenger front air bag because the cracks and splits in dash could potentially cause the airbags to deploy.

My dashboard is melting at an extremely fast pace. I can barely see if the sun is shining in my car the right way, dash and side panels are melting, called lexus they won't do anything about it.

Tsib#. Inside rear view mirror is discolored and is difficult to see from. The mirror has not been damaged or subjected to extreme conditions.the vehicle has been garaged 80% of the time. This is not normal wear and tear, as i have had vehicles older than this one and have not experienced deterioration of the mirror. The problem started in 2010 and is getting worse. I can barely see out of the mirror. The "fix" is to replace the mirror at a cost of nearly $1300.00. It appears as this is a common complaint for owners of this vehicle.

Rear view mirror on my 2006 lexus is350 has horrible visibility. It is not damaged on the surface. The surface is smooth and clean, however there are multiple spots where visibility is not available.

Speckled/scratched rear view mirror.visibility on the rear view mirror is becoming difficult due to scratches and spots that just came by itself as time has passed. This issue is becoming a serious safety issue.

My navigation system screen stopped working while 1000 miles away from home. The biggest problem with the screen going out was the fact that all of the heating and air conditioning controls are ran through that same unit.without being able to adjust my temperature in the vehicle i am not able to defrost the windshield in times when it may fog up.

Inside rear view mirror has become discolored and unable to see clearly from. I was driving my car when all of a sudden the sensor advised me my coolant was low as i looked over to my left shoulder i notice smoke coming out before it caught fire. Looks like the main source of the fire was an electrical issue that generated the wheel cover and bumper to start ignoring faster
