When i first received my is i noticed that my dash was somewhat sticky/tacky and overtime i began toshiny/sticky dash causes a safety issue with glare on the windshield while driving and a degraded dash can result in possible degradation to the passenger front air bag because the cracks from the dash could potentially set off the airbags prematurely.

Vehicle was stationary and sat overnight. Upon starting car srs light came on and was diagnosed with trouble code dtc 1861 that resulted in a knee squib malfunction due to a wiring harness issue. This requires a new wiring harness that will cost over $2500. Lexus knows this is an issue as they have issued a tsb for it but refuses to issue a recall or do it as a goodwill service. This is a major safety issue especially due to lexus realizing there is an issue but refusing to step up and correct the issue.

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2006 lexus is 350. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 16v340000 (air bags); however, the parts for the repair were not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not notified of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

Dashboard and door panels are melting causing the plastic to shine and cast a reflection on the windshield causing poor vision. In addition the passenger airbag may not work properly as the dash has melted within the area the airbag should deploy.

The airbag light on the cluster is on. Happened randomly one morning upon start up of vehicle and hasn't went away even after resetting the battery. I and several other 2nd generation is owners from club lexus have the same issue and it is attributed to a loose wire harness.in the event of a collision there's a high risk that the airbag will not deploy.please fix this as this is a serious and fatal issue.it was a fairly well know issues amongst is owners and this i feel that lexus should be responsible for the fix.

When the car was turned on, our airbag light came on and stayed on. Scanlon lexus of ft myers, fl evaluated the problem and concluded that the driver-side knee airbag is the problem and that the wiring harness needs to be replaced. They also stated that lexus is aware of the issue for this model and that the design is defective. However, the car is outside of a warranty, so they will do nothing to fix it for free. The cost was approximately 2100 just for parts (not including 8 hours of labor). They also stated that when the light is on, the entire airbag safety system will not deploy. This is a huge safety concern that is not caused by normal wear and tear on a vehicle, but by faulty design. Therefore, i believe this should be a safety recall.

Dashboard has become sticky and shiny in appearance. Brought to dealer for repair, was told it is not covered under any warranty. I voiced concern over airbag failures due to the stick dashboard. It is also not safe to drive in sunny conditions.

Air bag light goes on and than off

Wiring harness defect renders srs/seatbelt pretension system inoperable. Lexus refuses to replace wiring harness without charging $3,000. The issue is listed under a tsb by lexus and was known to them.

Takata recallit's been 4 months since the recall was announced and still no remedy available yet.it's also a significant in that noone can sit in my passenger seat until the recall is remedied.

Takata recall- took my car to the lexus dealership in honolulu hi for the recall on the passenger side airbag which they claimed it was completed and resolved. Two days later the airbag light on dash would blink. I called them to let them know and we made an appt. When i took thelexus back they did a diagnostic test and claimed the drivers side airbag needed to be repaired at a $4,000.00. I feel it should be repaired at $0.00. If you can, please help.the service manager there is not helpful at all.

The car like many push button start cars requires that you step on the brake pedal when starting, but the car will not start sometimes and/or requires a lot of force on the brake pedal to start the car which is apparently due to the brake booster going bad. This has been happening intermittently over the course of the year or about 9000 miles. I took the car to the lexus dealer and told them what i thought was wrong because if you google "lexus is350 brake pedal hard" or "lexus not starting" you will see that many people have this same exact problem with their lexus, and not just with this lexus model. The dealer confirmed the brake booster is the problem and that the cost to replace it would be approximately $1,100.00. After contacting lexus customer support and pointing out that a lot of lexus owners seem to have the same problem, they said it is not under recall, and that i must pay for the cost of the repair. I can see situations where a car not starting could be considered a safety issue, but more upsetting is that there is clearly a defect that many lexus owners are experiencing, lexus probably knows it, but will not correct it or recall it.

Issues exist with the navigation screen/unit. Climate control is run exclusively through this unit, and when the unit fails, there is no way to control the climate in the car. With this said, the windows can fog up and impair visibility.this is a common issue with these vehicles.

Starting around 95k, the engine seems to be consuming massive quantities of engine oil. At 101.5k, low engine oil light has come on after 1500 k miles after oil change with mobile 1 full synthetic oil. All online reviews show similar issues with other 06 is350 models around 100k miles. Forums also state lexus is aware of the problem and suggests a full engine rebuild. Seems like a faulty engine that lexus does not want to fix and may cause engine seizure while driving.

My 2006 lexus is 350 is using oil at an alarming rate. I bought the car new in 2006 and it gets it's regular oil changes, i have to add a quart of oil around around 600 milles driven.it currently has 189,000 miles, but this has been going on for some time.i looked up the information on the internet and it said to go to this website and report it.

The contact owns a 2006 lexus is 350. While driving approximately 20 mph, the vehicle decelerated on its own and the check engine and vsc indicators illuminated. The contact heard a loud noise coming from the engine compartment. The dealer stated that engine work needed to be performed. The contact stated that a recall notice for nhtsa campaign number: 13v395000 (engine) was never received. The vin was included in the recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 84,372.

Oil consumption. Vehicle has no leaks and needs 1quart of oil added every 2k miles. Car has 150k and has been well maintained. It usesvalvoline 5w-30 full synthetic oil and gets changed every 4-5k miles of oil usage. I've read many complaints about this issue and toyota/lexus is not willing to help out with this issue.

Excessive oil consumption.started around 120k miles.

The contact owns a 2006 lexus is 350. The contact stated that while driving at 40 mph, the vehicle stalled and the contact heard an abnormal noise coming from the engine compartment of the vehicle. All the warning lights on the instrument cluster illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that variable timing gear, the timing chain, and the timing cover needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 77,000. The vin was unavailable.

In normal driving situations my 2006 lexus is350 burns oil very quickly.i am adding oil at least every 3 weeks (about a quart or more).there are no specific engine leaking issues per my mechanic.the engine seems to burn oil abnormally fast.

The vehicle's oil consumption is becoming greater and greater. I am now at a point where i need to add 2 quarts of oil every 3 weeks, which is about 1000 miles driven. Because of the age of my vehicle, i was advised to start using synthetic/blend, but the oil consumption rate has not changed. It was inspected for leaks and there were none. Does this have anything to do with past recalls? i know this is not normal and i am hoping for a resolution as i love driving the car and it still feels reliable aside from the oil consumption rate, which is getting worse and worse.i am now on my third case of oil purchased from costco but once i'm through with it, i'm dreading the rate will be much sooner- i don't want to have to add oil every week. I'm hoping for a resolution/advice. Thank you.

The contact owns a 2006 lexus is 350. The contact noticed oil leaking from the undercarriage of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a dealer who diagnosed that the front time chain seal needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was not available. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 98,000.

My vehicle, and doing research there are numerous other lexus models and years all experiencing oil loss from the timing chain cover gasket causing oil loss that could pose a potential risk to the engine from oil loss and affect drivability and safety.lexus has not provided a recall on this known issue.they request $3500 to fix the leak with a new gasket.this has the potential to eventually lock up the engine if enough oil leaks out and could cause an accident.

S10 appropriate handling - copy of letter sent to lexus corporation from re to problems with her 2006 lexus is350.the consumer stated the vehicle was making grinding sounds upon start-up. Three days later, the consumer was informed the grinding sound was due to problems with the camshaft gear assembly. After leaving the dealership, the consumer smelled a faint burnt odor, but assumed the air filter might need to be replaced. After a while, the smell became worse and the consumer noticed smoke emitting from the exhaust and from underneath the hood. The check engine light illuminated stating the engine oil was low. The smoke instantly increased. The consumer immediately exited the freeway . The vehicle began making a grinding sounds as she pulled into a parking structure.the next day, a tow truck was sent to retrieve the vehicle.five days later, the consumer was informed that when the gasket was replaced during the replacement of the engine valve springs that were recalled, a part was left loose and caused the engine oil to leak.the consumer was assured that several flushes were done to make sure the vehicle was at a 100%. On november 25, 2010 while driving, the consumer heard the grinding sound again, then she noticed the temperature gauge jump from high to low in a matter of seconds, followed by the battery signal, indicating a low battery, but then quickly disappeared. As the consumer continued to drive, a rattling noise was coming from under the hood and thecheck engine light illuminated and the vehicle released smoke. The vehiclewas towed to the dealer. Four days later, the consumer was informed that the cap on the radiator fluid had broken off.the vehicle was taken to another dealership where they determined the engine was operating properly, but they discovered oil residueleft on the engine that was causing the foul odor.they were unable to determine why the vehicle overheated. I experienced a problem that may be the same problem as the lexus valve spring problem, or related to it. The mechanic said it was caused by a design flaw. Here is part of a letter i sent to lexus in march 2010:i own a 2006 lexus is350, which i had been very happy with until february 1, 2010.as i was driving to work, there was a loud noise from the engine and the dashboard lit up with warning lights.i pulled over, read the owner?s manual, and drove to a lexus dealership.the four year old car only had about 27,000 miles on it.unfortunately, my warranty ended in december 2009.since it was a lexus, i wasn't expecting a major repair, but that?s what i got.the mechanic explained to me, that because of the engine design, it does not burn off carbon from the gasoline.the carbon collects in the engine, interferes with the valves and causes a misfire.i was told my 6 cylinder car only had 5 operational cylinders.the total cost to fix it was $995.20.i never received a response from lexus. An apology would have been nice.the mechanic informed the consumer she will need to get the carbon cleaned out of the engine/fuel system on a regular basis, otherwise she would continue to experienced cylinder misfires.updated ivoq 12/01/10

I recently had my car serviced at lexus to complete the floor mat entrapment recall procedures. I would like to bring to your attention that the new replacement all weather floor mats that were provided to me are more dangerous than the original ones. The new floor mats are extremely slick and on more than one occasion my foot slipped off the mat and into one of the pedals. This is an extremely dangerous situation and i have removed the replacement mats from the vehicle as i do not feel safe using them.

The contact owns a 2006 lexus is 350. While the vehicle was parked or driving, there was a strong fuel odor coming from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the upper fuel rail was leaking and needed replacement along with the injector seals. The vehicle was not repaired and the contact wanted a second opinion. The contact mentioned that the vehicle was serviced per nhtsa campaign number: 09v020000 (engine and engine cooling). The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was unknown.

I am in fear of my life and any others passengers i may have riding in my car. I think smelling fuel from inside my car and it's very noticeable after i have drove from 1 location to the next. I did have all my recalls completed by local dealership including the fuel delivery pipes. However there is also 3 separate issues for this recall . The recall letter states do not drive your vehicle if you smell fuel and contact your lexus dealership immediately.i did contact my dealership & they said they don't smell fuel.i smell it and my passengers smell fuel but the smell of gas occurs most of the time i driven from 1 another and when i took it to lexus and it had it checked it sat all night and of course they won't smell itthe consumer requested to be reimbursed for the recall repair.

There is a change in the vehicle brake pedal feel its not firm anymore it almost goes to the floor and if i step a little harder the pedal goes all the way down i check and bleed the brakes front and rear and still not feeling firm the brake pedal i see that some cars same model and year as mine have a recall for the master cylinder brakes but not mine

When braking occassionally, brake makes squeaky noises. This even after paying dealership to change front brakes.

2006 lexus is 350 vibrated when applying brakes from highway speed, at 44k miles i took to the lexus dealership twice and they found nothing wrong, i finally took it to my private mechanic and it was determined the rear rotors were warped, rotors and pads were replaced with new oem parts and the problem was abated.at 56k miles it began vibrating again from the rear rotors, currently (59k miles) it is getting worse.this is clearly a design defect, i have never had an issue with rear rotors warping like this in 32 years of driving.

Lost the ability to steer the vehiclethere was an internal power steering failure which resulted in the replacement of the power steering rack assembly.

The lexus 2006 is350 has electric power steering problems. The problem caused by defected ecu component. I brought it to lexus car dealer and they requested $500 just to look at it.it's too expensive. This car company is irresponsible. Don't buy lexus car!!!! they can't make lexus steering reliable.request:lexus must fix this issue.

When i left my home for work, i of course used my door handle to pull the door shut. I didn't realize that my hand transferred the residue to the wheel. When i made my left turn, i expected my wheel to glide through my hand, as it normally does, when coming out of the corner. Instead, as the wheel slid through my hand it caught the sticky patch and kept my car in a left turn. There was a car immediately next to me but slightly behind me(both lanes make a left) and as i crossed into his lane (completely cutting him off) he slammed on the brakes and hit his horn.

The car was driving normally all day on main roads around town until the steering wheel started to feel kind of loose. Than the steering wheel began making a whining noise while turning and sometimes lose the center position and drag one way or the other. It seems like the power steering wants to give up but it catches itself. Braking seems fine and driving at low speeds seems okay until i get up to 30-40 mph. I believe this has to do with the power steering since in this lexus model it is electric power steering. Feels very unsafe to drive, i'm worried it will loose power steering at a turn and cause an accident.

Had ssc 9lc (electric power steering link assembly replacement) performed and the steering feel has been adversely affected, where the on-center steering feel at freeway speeds is vague. Furthermore, when turning the wheel on gradual turns, i feel a non-linear resistance moving from the on-center position to one side or the other. The sensation makes the steering feel disconnected with the wheels, where i'll turn the steering wheel an amount that i feel is appropriate to negotiate the gradual turn, yet the vehicle will continue to track on its original course.

Power steering failing to assist extremely heavy to turnhard to drivecauses delayed response in ability to steer car happened during drivingcity streetsalso on free way no real improvement been recalled on other lexus modelsbut not this one this is a safety issue.

The electrical power steering failed. It's hard to make turn.diagnositics indicate failure due to faulty electrical components.asked lexus dealer fix but refused.

There have been multiple accidents due to the electric p/s failing, including a near miss when my frail wife lost the assist.in my search for the cause, i have found that lexus is replacing the entire steering rack as the "fix".lexus is simply installing a replacement steering rack that has the same manufacturing defect as the original steering rack, costing some owners $1000 plus. After a few years, the replacement power steering rack will fail, just as the original did.when i purchased my lexus, it was already 10 years old. That caused me to decide to find the cause of the p/s failure and repair it myself, if at all possible. Each time there was a failure of the p/s assist, i found that if i shut the power off and restarted the engine the problem would be gone.however,it was just a temporary fix.the more often the problem recurred, the interval between failures was less. I found that one particular electrical connector on the p/s rack has 4 very small pins in it.in fact, they are too small for the female part of the fitting.the mating of the 2 parts of the connector should have a snug fit.they don't!without a snug connection, oxidation occurs.that prevents the current from going through the connector as well as it should.cleaning the connection will temporarily allow the p/s rack to function properly, but only until the oxidation recurs.de-mating and re-mating the connector will have the same effect.that will only work for a short period of time, eventually causing multiple failures in a single day.my repair was to snug up the 4 fittings by inserting a small strand of copper wire in each of the four female connections. It has now been 3.5 months without a failure.lexus should modify the faulty parts and initiate a recall before someone is killed!

2006 lexus is 350.consumer writes in regards to warranty enhancement notice -dashboard, front and rear interior door panels cracks/sticky/melting and front passenger airbag inflator recall notice causes are similar due to temperature or humidity.updated 05/1/2017

As with many other users, the dashboard of my car has melted. This started happening many years ago and when i informed the lexis of palm beach dealer about it, i was told nothing could be done.the dashboard is very sticky and there is a terrible glare which makes it hard to see during the hot sunny days while i am driving. I live in west palm beach, fl, so it's sunny most of the year and this is a road hazard.

Dashboard is melting causing difficulty to see out of windshield!

The dashboards and door panels seems like it's melting apart. At the touch of it, it feels sticky and call fall off.

Dashboard has become sticky and shiny in appearance. Brought to dealer for repair, was told it is not covered under any warranty. I voiced concern over airbag failures due to the stick dashboard. It is also not safe to drive in sunny conditions.

The dashboard and other interior panels seem to be melting away. Particularly the dash. It is real sticky in the heat and sun which causes a glaring in the windshield when driving. I believe this is a hazard.i have called lexus and they will not accept responsibility or acknowledge there is a problem even when others have complained, through research on the internet.even with sunglasses on the glaring of the " liquid" look on the dash reflecting to the windshield is a hazard.

Lexus is 350. Consumer writes in regards to front passenger airbag safety recall. *ldthe consumer stated the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time reconciling the airbag recall. The consumer requested to be reimbursed for the cost of a rental vehicle. The dashboard and door panel were cracked and melting. The door panel was repaired.

The dashboard of the car is extremely sticky/shiny along with the tops of the door panels near the windows.when the sun is overhead shining down onto the dashboard in its melted shiny state it reflects a glare onto the inside of the windshield making it extremely difficult to see out of the car.also i'm concerned about the function of the passenger side airbag with it being under this dash that has melted.also if the dash is touched to add or remove a sunshield when parked it easily comes apart onto fingers/hands/clothes and leaves a sticky black residue.the residue makes it difficult to allow the steering wheel to slide through the hands while turning as it catches/releases easily.the car has been well taken care of and has been a southern california car for its entire life.previous owner bought it in colorado but lived in southern california.it was garage kept by them and is garage kept by us, the second owners.no protectants of any kind have ever been applied to the dash that may alter the composition of it.only dusted off or wiped with a damp cloth when required.i've seen several other is vehicles with the same exact problem, many worse than mine.dealer offered to fix for $3000 quoted priceover the phone for labor/materials.

Door panels to interior gooey sticky and marked.chunks and gouges from normal wear. Noticed months after purchased. Had to have dashboard replaced because of gauges dealership put on the car from repair of a faulty airbag. Have seen numerous complaints about interior. Poor quality interior from a luxury car.

The dashboard and door panels are all cracking and the black rubber material is very soft and sticky and it marks and chips away easily.

Dashboard and door panels are melting, getting sticky and reflecting the light from the outside..

There is an sticky, melting and gloss areas on the dash due to poor quality materials that reflect a glare on the windshield while driving. I called lexus and the rep. Told that's my car and my problem, many other people are experiencing this issue and lexus usa not recalling this dash panels.

2006 lexus is350. Dashboards and door panels are sticky and melting. As a result dashboard causes a shiny unwanted reflective glare whichreduces visibility while driving, potentially causing a safety issue increasing the chance or risk of a crash or accident. Furthermore, the door panels are so sticky and soft, one cannot touch them without scratching, ripping or damaging them. Door panels also produce a reflective blinding glare off them, also purposing a safety hazard. Materials used in the manufacturing of the interior trim is very poor causing unwanted damage and safety issues. A recall should be issued to replace these defective interior trim decor on known defective date and models which are out of warranty. Problems start to arise soon after warranty expires. Brand new lexus is 350 had heavy dash board rattling complaint on the first week!vehicle was given to lexus and they held vehicle for few days and returned vehicle. Complaint recurred second time after a month and vehicle was again sent to lexus.lexus held vehicle for over a week and gave back. Complaint occurred third time and vehicle is still at lexus service station.heavy dash rattling noise distracts driver and diverts driver concentration. This could lead to serious road accidents ! this complaint has to be investigated to avoid future mishaps !!!

I have made a complaint with thelexus dealership after the many recalls they have had on my car. My biggest concern is my melting dashboard and the hazardous glare and film it omits on my windshield. It has proven to be very dangerous as i work andlive in florida. As a mother of two teenage daughters trying to teach them to drive in my car has proven very difficult and dangerous, let alone my daily driving. I have asked that toyota/lexus steps up as this is not a cosmetic faultbut a dangerous and an accident waiting to happen. And i don't want it to be my family!as in medical terms, they need to think of a preventative measure.i know i am not alone on this battle and wantto see the manufacturer step up and make this one of the many recalls they have had on my vehicle as well as the others suffering with this same dangerous situation. Tired of putting my family and myself at jeopardy!

Dashboard material has 'melted' and causes a significant glare in the sun. This makes it unsafe to drive. This has been reported to lexus. Upper portions of door panels which are the same material as the dashboard have also failed but this is not a safety issue.

Dashboard starting to melt/crack and emit strong odor.

Door interior quarter panel melts when it gets hot in the day time.

The contact owns a 2006 lexus is 350. The contact stated that the dashboard was cracked and the air bags were visible. The dashboard was also melted and sticky due to the sun. The vehicle was taken to lexus of westminster (located at 13590 beach blvd, westminster, ca 92683, (714) 702-1849) where it was diagnosed that the dashboard needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to the repair fees. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 154,588.

Takata recall.... I am filing this complaint for the interior dash and door panels having a melting effect. They are now coated in a sticky residue. The dash causing visibility problems due to the shiny plastic melting. I'm guessing that the heat was a factor in causing this to melt. Making it very unsafe when driving on the highway.

Dash board is shiny and sticky causing glare on windshield causing distraction to drive. Lexus had a recall on tsb for vehicles with 50k warranty back in 2011. Wear does not start showing till after 50k mark. Noticeable previously but it's getting more noticeable to the point where it's distraction visibility.

The contact owns 2006 lexus is 350. The contact stated that the dashboard near the windshield and all of the door panels have melted. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic for inspection. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 75000.

I have a lexus is and the dash and the side door panels get molten or sticky. This causes severe safety issues since i am not sure of the chemicals that are emitted and if they are carcinogenic. Kids get this all over them and its hard to get this sticky material from their hands. I am not sure if this material is poisonous.

Lexus/toyota has promised to replace recalled parts for a 2006 lexus is 350- sticky dashboards and side panels of cars in which low-quality or defective materials were used when manufacturing- that when exposed to sunlight and subsequent heat the parts melted becoming sticky, and permanently remaining in a semi-viscous state. However, no progress has been made towards remedying the situation. Regardless of having been on a waiting list to have the defective dash and door panels replaced since 2015-as of jan 2017 there is still no estimated time for when the repair work will be done. Lexus claims to have limited parts/supplies to work with thus causing the delay, however after checking with a local third party auto repair shop, i learned that the third party can perform the repairs immediately. I spoke with a lexus rep about having the repairs made by a third party and being reimbursed by lexus- and i was informed by the rep that they would not cover the cost of the repairs done by a third party because it would have to be genuine lexus parts to be covered- but the third party assures me it would be using genuine lexus parts- and that due to the specific nature of the parts (dash and door panels) lexus would be the only manufacturer that makes those particular parts. I believe being on a waiting list with no estimated date as to when to expect relief is a deliberate ruse to put customers off indefinitely and that lexus/toyota has no intention of actually following through with the repairs. We would like to have a third party do the repairs immediately and then be reimbursed for the out of pocket cost of correcting the defective/ recalled parts.http://www.carcomplaints.com/news/2015/toyota-replace-melting-shiny-dashboards.shtml.

My 2006 lexus is 350 has a defective, melting dash panel that reflects a glare onto the windshield. This is a safety concern as it impairs my vision to see clearly while driving. Newer 2008-up models are made with different material & design and don't have this issue. When i called lexus customer service to complain of the melting dash to ask for a new dash panel they denied my request because i was out of warranty and would have to pay out of pocket. Lexus is ignoring owners with models manufactured before the newly redesigned dash & door panels. Lexus knows this is an ongoing issue as they have even released a tsib(l-sb-0144-11). Not only is the dash defective but the door panels get sticky and marks easily with barely atouch. I was afraid to touch the dash & door panels for the fear of accidentally damaging it. I even bought a sunshade cover to prevent the dash from getting hot, however whenever i took off the sunshade i inevitably scraped the soft, brittle dash. This is also a safety hazard as all of these accidental damages lowers the car value. This is becoming a widespread issue as it is very common on online forums like clublexus.com and myis.com. I actually got the idea to submit this inquiry from another 06-08 is 250 owner who went through nhtsa.i believe the dash panel is a safety hazard in that the shiny glare from the windshield makes it dangerous for me to drive endangering my life and others on the road. I also wish to have new door panels from the newly designed model's door panels as these nuisances can significantly depreciate the car's value.

The vehicle has an exhaust leak due to the heat shield that makes it built corrosion, have talk to many lexus owners and they have had the same problem, which also make the check engine light go on because of the leak

Dashboard and door panels are melting causing the plastic to shine and cast a reflection on the windshield causing poor vision. In addition the passenger airbag may not work properly as the dash has melted within the area the airbag should deploy.

Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)i own a 2006 lexus is 350.i have had two incidents of "unattended acceleration" but was fortunate that both occurred on the freeway and i was able to get the vehicle to stop accelerating. My question is this; i received a notice from lexus, about six months ago, that there was a problem with the vehicle; however they were going to let me know when they had a fix for the problem. I've called several times, the last time was this week 3-9-10, and was told again that they do not have a fix and i need to wait and they would let me know when to bring the vehicle in. This seems dangerous, and i would like to complain that lexus is not doing enough to either get me a replacement vehicle to drive until they fix the car, or fix it.[xxx]

The contact owns a 2006 lexus is350. The contact was driving approximately between 35-45 mph when the vehicle accelerated up to 90 mph without warning. The brake pedal was depressed to the floor with extreme force. The vehicle failed to slow down. Immediately, the emergency brake was engaged and the vehicle slowed down. The front driver side floor mat was removed. An identical failure occurred on a separate occasion which resulted in the vehicle crashing into a tree. The contact did not report any injuries or state that a police report was filed. The manufacturer was notified of the malfunctions and confirmed that the driver side floor mat be installed in the vehicle. The authorized dealer recommended the floor mat not be installed. The contact received conflicting information from the dealer and manufacturer with uncertainty of the floor mat installation. The failure has not recurred. The failure mileage was 44,000. The current mileage was 65,000.

The contact owns a 2006 lexus is350. The contact stated while driving and applying the brake pedal to stop the vehicle it experienced unexpected acceleration and crashed into the rear of a second vehicle. The driver of the second vehicle was injured during the incident but no further information was available. A police report was available. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who was unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 91,274.

The contact owns a 2006 toyota lexus is350. The contact received notification of nhtsa recall campaign id number: 05v565000 (vehicle speed control: accelerator pedal) in april 2010. He stated the closest authorized dealer that could make repairs to the vehicle was over 300 miles from his residence. The manufacturer was contacted and they advised they would contact him to determine if there was an alternative. As of june 2010, the manufacturer had not responded. There were no failures at this time.updated 7/20/10 updated 07/23/10

Large scale desilvering of the rear view mirror has lead to the appearance of black spots and loss of reflectivity. The significant loss of reflectivity has resulted in difficulty seeing objects in the rear view mirror and dangerous driving conditions, especially during lane change maneuvers. This has been a long-standing issue with an unknown start date (prior to the date given below). Additional research conducted by reviewing other nhtsa complaints for this model, and by searching other internet sites indicates that this is not an isolated issue, e.g. <http://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-3rd-gen-2006-2011/556707-rearview-mirror-question.html>.

Rearview mirror's reflective surface wearing off and turning black. Becoming increasingly difficult to see/use.

I have had this dashboard problem with my car after the first year it was purchased from carmax.i saw a post online to where i can make a complaint about this and hopefully get it repaired. My dashboard has gotten to the point to where if i do not have sunglasses on, i can not see out of my windshield because of the glare that shines off of my dashboard.i can not clean it or wipe it off because it is so sticky.i find this very frustrating and very dangerous because i can not see the road during the day because the sun reflects so heavily off of this glue like substances that my dashboard has turned into.i am currently a student at a university and i was forced to buy a parking pass in a garage(which is twice the price of a regular parking pass) in order to not let my dashboard melt anymore than it already has. I am hoping that you guys can somehow push to make to make toyota/lexus fix this problem.

Lack of visibility due to the amount of vibration of the rear view mirror while car is moving, even worse when the radio is on.

When i left my home for work, i of course used my door handle to pull the door shut. I didn't realize that my hand transferred the residue to the wheel. When i made my left turn, i expected my wheel to glide through my hand, as it normally does, when coming out of the corner. Dash has become very glossy and sticky causing a very bright glare on the windshield which is severely affecting visibility.

The rearview mirror has become splotchy and unable to see out of.lexus says because it is no longer under warranty they wont cover it.because of 571.111 standard no. 111; rearview mirrors.s1. Scope. This standard specifies requirements for the performance and location of rearview mirrors.s2. Purpose. The purpose of this standard is to reduce the number of deaths and injuries that occur when the driver of a motor vehicle does not have a clear and reasonably unobstructed view to the rear. I feel lexus should recall and fix it.

Rear view mirror has become discolored and non-uniform making it difficult to use reliably and it causes one to look too long to discern if cars are near, thus taking one's eyes off the road ahead.

Dash (and pieces on doors made from same material) melt/crack/produce glare on windshield/windows during hot/sunny weather. Heat has severely degraded material quality; dash and door pieces easily dented/scratched/chipped.

The camshaft timing gear was replaced by jim fault lexus was driving vehicle home and all the dash lit up and engine had no oil. Car hasn't run the same since then without oil needing to be replace 3.5 liters of oil every 300-500 miles so i'm really afraid to go anywhere in my vehicle. Need help!the consumer stated she started having problems with the engine after retrieving the vehicle from the dealer. There was a noise coming from the engine when it was cold and the check engine light illuminated several times, as well as the low oil light.the dealer informed the consumer, the piston rings were worn, but there were no oil leaks.updated 12/03/14

Rear view mirror inside vehicle is becoming difficult to see out of, especially at night! according to lexus forms and dealerships, the mirror is flaking from the inside and if out of warranty will cost over $1000 to repair. I do understand normal wear and tear on a vehicle, however, this is clearly a poorly made part and many other individuals have had this exact same issue. I feel it is a the dealers cost for the part and replacement when it is a safety issue of the car, regardless if the vehicle is out of warranty. I do not have expendable money to fix such a hazardous issue on such a "luxury vehicle," that i paid so much for. I believe the dealership should take responsibility for the faulty part and replace at little to no charge!

Rear view mirror vibrates so badly on slightly rough roads, with sunroof and windows open and with manufacturer stereo loud that driver cannot see out of the back of the car.everything is distorted.this represents a significant safety issue for the driver.based on information gleaned from popular online forums, this appears to be a design issue associated with the 2006-7 lexus is25/350 lines.2006 lexus is350 w/sport package.

Rear view mirror vibration due to open sunroof or radio at 1/5th volume.dealer can not fix due to engineering design flaw.repeated attempts to get this remedied have failed.

The contact owns a 2006 lexus is 350. The contact stated that the rearview mirror became discolored and dark. The contact was unable to see through the rearview mirror. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated that the rearview mirror needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 40,000.
