Takata recall.i have been waiting for an airbag since may. The lexus dealership told me it was ok to drive just be very careful and noone sits in the front passenger seat. We are a family of 4. My husband drives a 2 seater jeep.we have had to go out of town twice and drive separate vehicles and separate vehiclesin town. It's ridiculous and noone can tell me when a replacement will be available.

Dealer informed me that it cannot be serviced and only option was to replace this expensive component. With current mileage on vehicle of 95k this was only covered up to 7year or 70k miles.no service bulletin was received from vehicle manufacturer that this component may fail and keep safety system on vehicle from working properly....updated 12/03/15

Takata recallrecall was issued on may 2016, and no remedy has been given to owners yet.also dashboard was recalled for replacement as they became sticky / melted and at times produce glare. Local lexus dealer approved replacement in october 2015, and still have not received the dashboards for replacement. Contacted lexus corporate directly, but did not receive any specific set time for the availability of the part.

Takata recall. Lexus sent out letter earlier this year and put me in the first round of "priority" recall replacement group. Letter also states that recall would be done by the end of 2016 for my group. Thus far i have not heard from lexus, and when i reached out they said remedy is still not available. I have not been able to seat anyone in my front passenger side which is causing a lot of inconvenience to my daily life.

Harness- failure of the airbag harness causing the srs light to stay on. This is a major safety issue and very costly $3,00.00+. It also appears to be widespread affecting various manufacture years including my 2008 model is250. I believe this warrants a review.

After taking the car in for service and inspection the airbag light came on and stays on. I took to park place lexus grapevine for the takata recall replacement. I told the service person about the light and they told me $100 dollars to diagnose. They called me and told me it is the wire harness which causes the airbag not to function and they tell me it will cost $3300 dollars for a wire harness. I see this is a known issue with a technical service bulletin issued so i do not understand. I have taken very good care of my car which has 88k miles and i a m very upset they want to charge me thousands for a manufacturing issue they have known about.

Takata inflators - my vehicle has an open recall with no known fix. So i am stuck with a vehicle that now holds no value and that i can not sell. It's worth less than owe. How can you have a recall with no known fix? that is unfair to the consumer and doesn't say good things about the lexus name. I won't buy another lexus ever again!

As inspected by lexus dealership in woodland hills ca, my car has airbag light on/off intermittently. Error code b1861 was found that is tied to knee airbag on the driver side. There is a problem with the squib circuit in the instrument cluster i believe. Car has around 99k miles but this safety concern is serious. This airbag is something that never gets used unless you're in an accident. I've never been in one. It is just bad workmanship on lexus to install such a wiring harness and squib circuit that'll go bad before 100,000 miles. As a customer this is not something that is visible to me nor something i would attempt to touch. It is hidden behind the instrument cluster and dashboard. Dealership quoted $3000+ to fix something that wasn't caused due to customer negligence. It is just bad workmanship from lexus. There is a great risk involved with driving lexus is250's considering this light could turn on anytime and if one gets into an accident, then airbag would not deploy resulting in a possible casualty or serious injuries. This should be a recall on all lexus affected by this. Customer shouldn't be responsible for these workmanship problems.

Takata recall. My car had the airbag recall but it seems like during the recall they didn't replace the airbag wiring harness, causing the airbag dash light.

Taking too long to repair

Air bag srs light came on. On taking to dealership, they said this: "dtc b1861 - driver's side knee side squib. Recommend replace instrument panel wire harness.". This is a known issue with 2006-2008 is 250/350 models where wiring on the harness can go short and needs to be replaced. This is a known issue from lexus corporate with the following service bulletin:l-sb-0167-08.the service bulletin identifies the factory installed harness as the issue and recommends replacing it. This is a safety issue and consumers should not have not have to pay lexus for their design flaw in harness.

Dash airbag light randomly turned on. Car was parked. As soon as car was turned on the light lit up. Light was not on day before. Took to local lexus dealership and had code scanned. Dealership informed me that my car needs a new dash harness and repair would cost +$3,000 plus tax for part and labor which is half of what the car costs. Also told me that when the light is on none of my airbags will deploy in the event of a collision which makes me worried to drive the car, especially this time of year. Looked up the issue online and saw it is a common issue with these cars, but there is no type of recall for the issue which is unusual for something that is common and puts lives at risk.

My car is a 2008 with only 61k miles on it. The airbag light came on and i took it into the dealer. They said there was an issue with a wiring "squib" and my entire airbag system was shut down. If i had gotten into an accident, not one airbag would have deployed.the dealer said to fix it will mean replacing the entire wiring harness at a cost of $2500. Per the dealer, this is nothing that happened over time or through wear and tear. Also, the dealer said by replacing the entire wiring harness, i was replacing items that were not malfunctioning as this was the direction per lexus. I contacted lexus and they said they will not cover anything.it was very alarming to hear that while the airbag light was on, i was driving around without airbags. The dealer was so concerned that after the initial diagnostic test, he strongly recommended that i service it now and not drive it off the lot due to safety reasons.

Takata recall. My recall notice is dated may 23, 2016. I still have not received an official recall notice in the mail. The recall status is still listed as "recall incomplete. Remedy not yet available."i have called the westside lexus service department in houston, texas numerous times since i learned of the recall. Each time, i was advised that the remedy is not available and that the dealership would contact me when they have a remedy available. I first learned of the recall notice on june 29, 2016.

After having the car i started getting the feel as if the car wanted to cut off each time i came to a stop.there was vibration with in the motor as it seemed. I contacted the dealership and they advise there was a issue with my model with the motor system with the vibration. They fixed the issue so i thought but as of today there is still vibrations at time when i come to a complete stop.later on i received a recall on the dashboard and door panels.ilater received another recall for my airbags, now my airbag light keeps coming on and i'm having to take the car back and forth to the dealership. These items has happen on number of occasions

I purchased my lexus in nov. 2012 for approx. $18000 cash from a private person. By early 2013, the srs airbag warning light stayed to come on, stay on for 1-2 days, then goes off. Then, few months later, it came on and stayed on. So, i took it to a lexus dealer to check it. They immediately informed me that the cause was a defective srs wire harness, as per the fault code b1861, which lexus was well aware of and had issued tsp, and the fix was to replace the srs wire harness with an upgraded replacement which would cost me $3500-$4000. Not being aware of this issue before i purchased my lexus, i decided to research the problem to learn more before contacting lexus customer satisfaction center, as advised by the dealer.however, lexus customer satisfaction center, as well as lexus corporate office, refused to take responsibility and carry the entire cost, even so they acknowledged the defect.therefore, i'm left with a car with nonfunctional airbag system; it would cost me as much as 50% of the market value of the car; it could not be resold; and, it would not pass the dmv inspection.according to all lexus dealers who inspected the problem, this srs wire harness is located under the dashboard and can not be damaged except due to an accident where damage reaches the dashboard area. Therefore, it's lexus responsibility to carry the cost of upgrading the defected wire harness. Moreover, they have informed that it's unsafe to drive the car in its current condition because the airbag system may not function properly in an accident. However, due to the high cost of fixing this problem, i am, like many other lexus owners, left with no choice but to drive it the way it it and pray i won't get in any accident.

My complaint is in regard to the service bulletin no.: lsb-0167-08 component(s): air bags , electrical system.this service bulletin is a solid proof that a certain models of lexus vehicles have a defected airbag system components. Yet, for the unlucky owners of these models who experienced this problem only after the expiration of the dealer's warranty, they face $3500 repair bill the fix a manufacturing default. By googling this issue, i came to find out that many many lexus owners had experienced the same problem. Some were able to have fixed under the warranty; while others found the repair too high and unfair to pay for. Since lexus recognizes the problem and admits to the default, they must take full responsibility and repair it free of charge, with or without recall. I and many consumers like me are counting and waiting on nhtsa to make things right, as they always do at the end. Moreover, since we are driving our cars with defaulted airbag system(leaving are vehicles not as safe as they should be), we hope this issue is solved a.s.a.p., before something happens on the road.

The contact owns a 2008 lexus is 250. The contact stated that the air bag warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, who diagnosed that the wiring harness needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 66,000.

Takata airbag. Passenger airbag trouble light comes on dash intermittently when stationary and while in motion on street/highway. When i recently had the takata airbag recall done, the dealership quoted me $2,100 to replace the wiring harness. I researched on-line and found this to be universally occurring problem with lexus is250 models and others 2006 and later. The defective part is the connector from the wiring harness coming loose at the plug into the airbag. Since this a universal safety issue and related to a defective part (rather than a mechanical part subject to wear/tear) shouldn't this be a recall? see following link for more details, but it is pretty common lore in lexus circles that is happening at low miles as well as high miles. Not sure why consumers are paying for this flaw when out of warranty.https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-2nd-gen-2006-2013/542134-airbag-light-on-with-resolution-tsb.html

When i turn on my car the srs light cames on and has stayed on. This disables all safety features. Lexus has a tsb l-sb-0167-08 admitting the faulty design of the wiring harness. Since my car has 82000 miles when the light came on lexus says i'm out of the 70000 mile warranty. They want $2500 to fix their flawed design wiring harness. My family and my safety areon the line here and this needs to be addressed.

Takata recall-passenger airbag. When will the parts be available? i have been waiting more than 6 months. I called local lexus dealership twice and the parent company once to question when the passenger airbag may be replaced. I was told it is not in their control. The last time i called the dealership where i purchased the car, the person i spoke with was not helpful. All 3 calls were fruitless.i travel a lot and passengers have to sit in the back.i need the car fixed so i can sell it and purchase another vehicle-not a lexus! nor one with takata airbags.

Received notice from lexus that until a remedy becomes available that i do not operate the car with a front passenger.furthermore, that if i feel that lexus has failed to remedy the defect in a reasonable time, to file a complaint.the reasonable amount of time in this case is, in my opinion, immediate.hence, the reason and purpose of this complaint.there has been no problem thus far.

Takata recallthe recall letter i receive from lexus regarding the takata air bag recall advised the following "until a remedy becomes available, we recommend that you do not operate the vehicle with an occupant in the front passenger seat." the car is mainly useless to me now. I rarely drive it because i can not use it as i intended. I typically have a passenger. Now the car sits in the garage. I essentially have lost use of the car. I need compensation.

I purchased a 2008 lexus is250 as a cpo and in the 3+ years i have owned it i have been complaining to lexus about the breakdown/melting of the dash and door panels is getting worse everyday, especially now that it is summer.the breakdown/melting of the dash is causing a glare that blocks out my view of the road, i have pictures to prove a mid sized car can be completely blocked out by the glare.even a dealer is calling them out for poor manufacturing andto have a recall!!!http://www.wptv.com/money/consumer/toyota-dealer-calls-melting-dashboards-a-defective-product-and-wants-auto-makers-to-pay-for-repairs.

"takata recall" the second day i bought my car it has been giving me problems. I have had to replace my engine/motor not long after i purchased my car. I'm still having the same problems with my car and new motor. It runs hot and i have brought it to 6 different mechanic as well as to the lexus dealership multiple times and i have had to pay out of pocket for a lot of things. I also went on lexus.com and found out that my car is a lemon buy back and was never told by the dealership i bought it from or the lexus dealership in baton rouge louisiana that it was a lemon. I had to fund out on my own. It very wrong that i bought a car and not told my anyone how the car is a lemon.

2 months after my warranty ended my touch screen went out. I talk with my service representative at northside lexus and he told me unfortunately the only resolution was to replace it but it would cost 50% of the labor and parts. I told him this was a defective item due to the screen suddenly went out while i was starting the car.for a 30k vehicle, you would think that toyota would own up to this issue and the other issue i complained on with the melting of the interior doors and dashboard.i thought the dealership since they had numerous complaints would be loyal to their customers would step in and say they would take care of it but silly me who thought there is still some loyalty in this world.my family has bought 6 new lexus vehicles and all was happy until we slowly started seeing different issues arise.i guess toyota and northside lexus doesn't mind loosing loyal customers!

I brought my car in for service on 9/10 and had my brake booster and water pump replaced. I was out of town following that and did not drive my car much. On 9/21, i got into my car and the navigation screen was not working. It displays correctly and the backup camera works but it is unresponsive to my touch. I cannot adjust the air, radio, or navigation. I read many, many forums online of people having the same issue as me.

The contact owns a 2008 lexus is 250. The contact stated the touch screen navigation system failed to operate. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the failure was unable to be diagnosed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure and current mileage were 80,000.

The contact owns a 2008 lexus is 250. Within less than two days of owning the vehicle, there was a failure with the radiator cap and catastrophic engine failure. The temperature gauge fluctuated highly. The dealer replaced the radiator cap and provided no solution for the engine failure. The vehicle was excluded from nhtsa campaign numbers: 10v309000 (engine and engine cooling) and 09v020000 (engine and engine cooling). An independent mechanic replaced the engine assembly due to the failure. The manufacturer was aware that they issued two recalls, but they provided no solution to repair the vehicle. The approximate failure mileage was 74,000.

September 20, 2012 i experienced my first misfire issue with my 2008 lexus is 250. As i accelerated to approx 65 mph to entire a busy highway on ramp, i lost all acceleration in my vehicle.as this happened, i had the check engine light flashing, my check vsc indicator displaying, and my traction control light illuminating.i called lexus, they advised that the car needed be towed in and the began to run the codes that were tripped.it was determined that i had extreme carbon build up in the engine, which was causing my engine to misfire.they did the "cleaning repair" which involved taking the engine apart, and sending a bunch of parts to a machine shop where they cleaned the heads & pistons.in total, i was without my car for over a month!fast forward to september 3, 2013.i now have 73,000 miles on my car, and the same thing happened again this evening as i was accelerating to approx 40 mph.this time i was on a busy 5 lane road, and lost all acceleration and had to essentially "coast" across 5 lanes of rush hour traffic to get to safety on the shoulder of the road.i immediately called lexus, and once again they advised me that my car needed to be towed in.today my service advisor contacted me to inform me that once again i have carbon build up in my engine and that it is misfiring.unfortunately now, my car is beyond the 70,000 mile drive train warranty.he is working with corporate to see what my next steps are, but i refuse to pay for these repairs, and i do not feel that i should have to since it is essentially a repeat malfunction of an existing issue!it should also be noted that my is has been into the dealership 3x for engine noise/rough start up since i had the repairs completed last year.every time, i was told that theylogged the issue, but were unable to replicate it.

I took my 2008 lexus is250 to the dealer on 7/29/16 for a recall issue thatit had i was told my car had a rattling noise coming from my motor i was told it the vvt cam gears i was quoted $3,000 to do this job on my car . I konw there is a recall for this for the lexus is350 (13v-395) i wanted now why they have a safety recall for only the is350 and not the is250 as well its the same safety issue.

The contact owns a 2008 lexus is 250. The contact stated that the engine would not idle and all the warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle made abnormal noises when shifted into gear. Prior to this failure, the vehicle was remedied per nhtsa campaign numbers: 14v647000 (fuel system, gasoline) and 13v030000(visibility/wiper). The vehicle was not taken to an independent mechanic or dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 115,000.

It didn't start i thinkthe ful line or fused , i take it to crown lexus , ontario californiathey wana charge meabout $1000 with out turn on the car !!!oh jesus help me . They playinggame

Cam gear noise while start up.is 350 had a recall for that, but not for is 250.

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2008 lexus is 250. While driving various speeds, the vehicle hesitated when the accelerator pedal was depressed from a stop position. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed with carbon build up. There was no repair solution. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer several years later and the motor was rebuilt. The vehicle had several top carbon clean outs, but the issue persisted. The contact also stated that the dashboard and the inner door panels were melting. The failures made it difficult to see out the widow due to a glare coming through the windshield. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 16v340000 (air bags); however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 26,000.

Cam gear problems.when start the engine, there was a rattle sound for a second, this problem had been recall for lexus is350 but not is250!!!!! and there are thousands of is250 owners complaint the same problem as is350, this problem may stop the engine while running, which is very dangerous.here is the link for is250 owners complaint: http://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-2nd-gen-2006-2013/654738-cam-gear-rattle.html

As i was attempting to accelerate, the vsc light and check engine light came on, the car lost power, would not accelerate, and the engine started misfiring.

Engine consumes about a quart of oil every thousand miles. Tail pipes full of carbon.sometimes runs rough

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2008 lexus is 250. While attempting to accelerate from a stop, the vehicle failed to accelerate. The dealer diagnosed that there was buildup in the piston that needed to be cleaned. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 16v340000 (air bags). The part needed for the repair was not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 68,184. Vin tool confirms part not available.

On my 2008 lexus is 250 at cold start it makes a rattling noise i was wondering why they only have the recall for this for the is 350 only . I know its the vvt actuator gear that is causing it .

The contact owns a 2008 lexus is 250. The contact stated that the vehicle was not experiencing any failure before being taken to the dealer for a manufacturer recall regarding the engine misfiring. The dealer had the vehicle for longer than a week. When the vehicle was driven by the contact after the repairs, it overheated and stalled. The vehicle was towed back to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The recall remedy did not repair the condition. The manufacturer was notified. The nhtsa campaign number was unknown. The approximate failure mileage was 95,000.

About 1 month after taking delivery of this new lexus, the driver slowed and began breaking for a red light. Suddenly the engine surged and the car accelerated for 1 to 2 seconds.no recurrence since (1 1/2 years).

I was driving my wife's lexus 2008 is 250 out of a parking lot when applying my foot on the brake the car accelerated. I now slammed my foot on the brakes and the car continued to accelerate. The only thing that stopped my car was the car in front of it with very little damage. If the car was not in front of me i was accelerating faster into on coming traffic. My floor mat is not on the floor as after the san diego incident that was toyota's reasoning. We were told roughly a month and half ago to take the mat out, which i did right away. They can deny it all they want this car was accelerating and getting faster when applying the brake. The policeman at the scene instructed us to not drive this vehicle and to get a loaner which we did. The car was picked up and sent to lexus in freehold. First we were told nothing is wrong and they test drove it and such. They were keeping it for 3 days now they are telling us they are keeping it for 3 weeks. There are reports all over the web on this with over 2000 complaints. It is obvious there is a major defect in their computer system. They really need to stop covering this up as 16 people have died. Fyi, this has happened to people in lexus loaners and loaners do not have floor mats. Again, luckily the car was only 15 feet in front of me what if it was 100 ft!

The contact owns a 2008 lexus is250. The contact stated that when the air conditioning unit was engaged, there was an abnormal, offensive animal odor emitting from the ventilation.the vehicle was taken to the dealer twice and the air conditioning unit was cleaned as well as the charcoal box. The odor was still present and the dealer advised that the odor was normal. The vehicle was not further repaired. My navigation touch screen stopped working on my is250 with normal consumer operation. I started noticing hundreds of other lexus vehicle owners complaining about the same issue.they did nothing to cause this issue and maintain their cars well.in fact, all the service done on my car including a recent update to the navigation system driving directions has been done by the san diego lexus dealership.they have been servicing my car since i purchased it from them new in 2008.in my research i have found that their is a defect in that there is a faulty connector on the touch panel. The touch panel is a 4-wire resistive panel, taped to the lcd display. There's a four wire ribbon cable that is improperly bonded to the touch panel. Lexus quoted me $2,800 to fix this problem that is a common problem and a defect in their manufacturing.in my opinion lexus should take responsibility for this issue as they provided faulty equipment with hundreds of consumers having the same issue with lexus.the consumer stated the dealer resolved the problem. The consumer would like the complaint, removed from the website. Updated 07/10/13

Three days ago, my 7 year old daughter could not unbuckle her seat belt.it is the middle of the rear seat.i had to pull some slack on the seat belt in order for her to slip under and out of the belt.after that, the seat belt unbuckled.i had her sit down again in the same position and the same thing happened again.i tried it next and found that i could not unbuckle the seat belt either.i believe that this is a safety issue in the event of an accident, the person in the middle seat in the back will not be able to get out of the car easily.we took it to the dealership, and demonstrated the defect, and they agreed to replace it.however, i have had the car for almost two years and this is the first time this has happened.how can i be assured that this cannot happen again? the car is a 2008 lexus is 250.

2008 lexus is 250.car loses traction and control when braking over uneven surfaces.have complained to lexus since 1st week i owned the car, with no avail.seems to be identical to problems reported for 2010 prius.writing this to ask if complaints have been placed for this vehicle, or if it might be part of the investigation into the prius braking system?

2008 lexus is250.consumer writes in regards to vehicle brake pad problems.the consumer stated when she picked her vehicle up from the dealer for routine service, they informed her she needed new brake pads and a rear caliper. The consumer stated she could understand the brakes, but she was shockedto find out, she needed a caliper, with only 49,000 miles on the vehicle. She was informed the caliper had seized. The consumer lodged a complaint. However, lexus stated they would not cover the replacement of the caliper, because it was considered normal maintenance. The consumer stated she has always taken her vehicle to a the dealer for scheduled maintenance, such as oil changes, and recalls, and at no time during those visits, did anyone mentioned the brake pads needed to be replaced, hence the reason why the caliper seized, because water broke the seal. Also, the vehicle never made any squealing sounds to give any indication there was a problem.

My dash on my car is shiny and sticky from the defected meterial it is made out of and causes glare from the windshield when driving. Door panels are also leaving sticky residue behind on my hands when i touch the door panel. 2008 lexus is 250 - car pulls to left whereby this could lead to unexpected oversteering of car and could cause highway incident and/or fatality. Told by dealer that this is due to "low profile tires & sport suspension", therefore it is a characteristic of the vehicle and nothing can be done. *ln

I called in to northside lexus dealership service department. I explained to them that my dashboard and all my leather on my doors are starting to melt and get sticky. If you hit it with a finger nail, the leather would easily come off. [xxx] which was my service representative told me it's probably what i put on the surfaces to clean it. My response was definitely not. I had used no chemicals at all just a cool water because i didn't want my interior fading on down the line. I reported this in 2011 & 2012.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The cars interior melted and has become not only a nuisance but has become a safety issue. The melting of the dashboard creates a bright reflection in the windshield whole driving making it difficult to see. Furthermore, the melting of the plastic gives off a chemical odor that may be hazardous. Lastly, this is concerning because it may even affect the functioning of my airbags. Lexus decision to put out a tsis after most people's warranties become void is irresponsible and morally corrupt. Enough people have complained about this safety issue that something needs to be done. There are now class actin lawsuits and thousands of others who signed petitions and complained online, although not through this site but that should not matter. Please do not allow lexus to get away with this.

I have been complaining to the lexus dealership, and then to corporate lexus for several years about my dashboard and doors disintegrating, melting away. I have 47,893 miles on the car which is garaged the majority of the day/nights.i have had my car serviced and maintained solely at germaine lexus of naples.this has been a huge consumer issue per the internet, as well as confirmed by the customer service rep i spoke to at lexus.blexus has repeatedly offered to pay for half.....which i find ridiculous.i have a 2000 isuzu rodeo with 125,000 miles, that has never been recalled, the dash, sunroof, and electronics still work....unlike my "luxury" lexus.this should be a warranty item, it is not - rather, should not be a replaceable part like brakes, clutch, seat motor, etc.this is the dashboard in places that one is unable to access with any body part!thank you, i hope that there will be some resolve on this.it is definitely a wider spread issue than lexus cares to admit out loud![xxx], another sdisgruntled lexus owner.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Dashboard is sticky and scuffs if you touch it and so are the door panels. If your nail touches it, it digs a deep hole. Something sticky and unsafe sweats from the black part.

Melting dashboard. The material used to create the dashboard has been turning soft, gooey, and shiny over the years. The shine is extremely dangerous in that it obstructs and distracts the view of the driver. A recall should be alerted to resolve this issue.

I purchased my leased lexuson 12/10/2011.shortly thereafter, the dashboard started to melt. I have an extend warranty but it does not cover dashboards. I cannot put a cover over the window as the cover sticks to the dashboard.i have been to the lexus dealership where i purchased it in west palm beach, fl but they will only pay for the part. I would have to pay for labor at a cost of almost $800.00. I feel that this is considered a defect. I have owned many cars in my lifetime, many less expense than this one and this has never happened to me.when the sun hits the shiny dash, it is difficult to see out the window.i understand that it is happening to many cars and i feel that it is a recall item as it is dangerous to the driver and other cars/pedestrians.

Dash looks like it is melting and door panels are soft and tacky.

I would like to file a complaint concerning the dash in my lexus.the dash is melting and creating a glare onto the windshield. I have spoken with several lexus dealers and they are aware of the problem, but the manufacture has not had a recall at this time.the cost from the lexus dealer is around $2500.00.after much research on the internet, this is not just a few cars with the problem.

The contact owns a 2008 lexus is 250. The contact stated that a glare was present on the driver side windshield that obstructed the view of the driver. The cause of the glare was due to the dashboard melting on the driver side. The dealer stated that the dashboard needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 70,000.

My whole interior is melting in my car. Large wet spots on dash that make visibility nearly impossible when the sun is shining in the car on the dash board. The cars door panels also have the same issue, which black residue gets on the skin and clothing after brushing up against it. The car is a safety and health hazard and the local lexus dealership as well as the corporate office will not step in and own up to their defective interior. I have told them multiple times that this is a safety issue and they have no concern and tell me they deny any assistance because i am out of warranty. Please help!

It was 90 degrees out and my dashboard was so gooey like sticky i was on my way to workand had a glare half the size of my windshield very dangerous could barely see on a sunny day. Door panels melt also leaving particles in your fingernails gotta clean my kids nails everyday and make sure they wash there hands everytime opening the door cause kids will be kids and sticks fingers in there mouths im very nervous about these particles falling off and melting we are breathing in whatever hazardous material is used to make the dash. The glare is very dangerousthey need to recall these dashboards im scared everytime i get in my carthis is very dangerous sometimes you cant see peoplecrossing the street.this needs to be recalled i got tons of pictures of the glareand the sticky dash its my whole dashboard and my door panels its all meltingi took it to lexus for major concernthey denied me any help.

The contact owns a 2008 lexus is 250. The contact stated that the dashboard melted and caused a glare while driving. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

Heat causes the dashboard and door panels to melt. The dashboard when melted causes a glare on the windshield, that makes it hard to see objects on the road.

I have noticed over the past 2 years my dash slowly getting shinier and more sticky to the touch.i have tried using quality car plastic/vinyl cleaners to resolve the issue but to no avail.in fact, the dash is so sticky that using a cloth to clean it causes fibers to adhere to the dash.the safety concern is that the shine is producing glare on the inside of the windshield which in turn makes it more difficult to see while driving (especially on sunny days when the sun is high).after doing some research online, it appears that this is a very common issue (especially for those living in warmer climates such as myself) and needs to be resolved for the safety of all drivers experiencing the issue.

The dashboard of my 2008 lexus is250 melts away everyday as well as the the drivers and passenger side door panels.the melted dashboard causes a glare directly in the viewing sight of the driver especially on really hot and sunny days here in south florida. This causes driving vision to be impaired.the door panels and dashboard leave prints on your hands and fingers when they are touched.

I currently own a 2008 is-250 with less than 6,000 mile on the odometer. I took my car in to the dealership for several unusual problems.the seals around the wind shield were dry rotted and had fallen out all the way around the windshield.the dash board was also sticky and had a number of cracks. The top of my windshield was also 'de-laminated" and needed to be replaced. Lexus did step up to the plate and replaced the windshield and dash board free of charge even though my vehicle was out of warranty. However, my car has the extended factory warranty on it still to this day. I had to pay $490.00 plus dollars out of pocket for parts and labor to get them to replace the molding around both sides of my windshield that had rotted away. While my vehicle was being repaired, i pointed out to the service manager the fact that the door panels were also "melting" and if you poke it, it leaves an indentation in the material and it was clearly a defect as the car is garage kept and should not have these problems. The door panels also get a white film on them when the car sits.i believe it is important to keep in mind, this car has less than 6,000 miles. I think lexus/toyota needs to replace the door panels on my car free of charge as the problem is a "defect" in workmanship and not an end user caused issue. I love my lexus and would not hesitate to purchase another one but this is an issue that should be addressed and repaired at the manufacturers expense since i in no way caused the issues i am experiencing.

The contact owns a 2008 lexus is 250. The contact observed sticky residue associated with the dashboard and the front driver and passenger side handles were not functioning properly. The dealer (lexus of palm beach, 5700 okeechobee blvd, west palm beach, fl 33417, (561) 291-6004) failed to provide the appropriate oem dashboard. In addition, the contact waited years for the handles to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was not available.

In june of 2013 i began to notice that both my dash and my front door panels were sticky and were beginning to melt.upon bringing my car into the lexus dealership my service adviser took photos of the affected areas and submitted them to corporate for goodwill warranty.the end result is that i would have to pay for the service to have both my door panels and dash to be replaced.to me, this seems ridiculous.lexus has acknowledged that this is a known defect with the material that was used on the dash, yet i should have to pay over $1000 to have the repairs completed?i opted to not get the repairs completed since i was planning to trade the car in at the end of this year for a newer model.to date the problem has gotten much worse; there are now chunks (!!) of door panel missing on both sides from my fingernails (which aren't excessively long) hitting them while i enter/exit the vehicle.additionally, my dash is horrendous looking and is starting to have a bad glare against the windshield as the melting progresses. While this may just be "cosmetic" to some, it isn't at all what i paid for!!nor is it safe to drive a vehicle with a unnecessary and unsafe reflective glare that is being caused by cheap materials being used. To me, it seems like a manufacturers defect that should be covered under the manufacturers warranty, and furthermore at no cost to the consumer.i didn't spend $30,000 on a vehicle so that they interior could melt in the sun.i live in florida and our summer temperatures are close to 100 degrees most days.i have never seen this happen to any of the other 7 vehicles i have owed, which makes it absurd that is occurring on my so-called"luxury" vehicle.

Dash cracking, sticky trunk button, door pan els discolored . First owner purchased new. Garage keep entire period sincepurchase in 08. I always wanted to have a lexus and on my 50th bithday and purchased a new one. I wanted a lexus because it meant quality. I understand toyota /lexus issued a notice to dealers but not a recall notice. I never recieved any notice from my local dealer or lexus regarding this defect until the replacement plan had expired. Class action suit was dropped when toyota/lexus agreed to replace dash and door panels back 10 years and no milage cap on certain vehicles, mine included. I would like this replaced in a timely fashion at no charge. I can't even trade or sellmy vehicle for real, value of a garage kept vehicle with these issues.why is it lexus can't do better for its customers and not leave me in limbo?i wouldn't purchase another lexus or toyota in the futureif the manufacture won't stand it's product. This could effect up 3.5 million toyota and lexus vehicles.can the dept of,transportation contact the manufacture and put a fire under their tails? i would appreciate any help and guidance on this isuue.thankyou for your help.

The contact owns a 2008 lexus is 250. The contact stated that the door panel and dashboard started to melt, crack, and become sticky. The dealer (lexus of tampa bay, 5852 n dale mabry hwy., tampa, fl 33614) stated that the vehicle was included in an unknown recall; however, they stopped doing repairs in november of 2017. The manufacturer was also contacted and did not assist. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 93,800.

Received "warranty enhancement notification - zld" from lexus in late 2014. It offered replacement dash and door panels due to sticky and melting. My dash has melted so badly it shines in my eyes like a mirror. So far i have brought car to dealer 2 times, called 6 times and still no parts in stock to repair problem. Lexus corp. Says dealer has not ordered parts and dealer says parts out of stock.

Melting dashboard and door panel, those smell really bad, i do have a minor kid i can not put in the car. I have get some card from lexus but still waiting for fix. Been several time in the dealer and have not received an answer yet.

Interior panels are melting away, leaving a very sticky residue. My door panels have melted down revealing a green like substance, i no longer have black door panels. Took it to see what i could do, only to be told i would have to replace my door panels. I don't think it's something i should have to pay for considering this is a manufacturing problem, that should have been tested before every leaving the factory.. Therefore i do believe it should be a recall on the fact it's a defective product, not so much a hazard, but a defective product that should be recalled. The material can not withstand high temperature,or high humiditycausing it to be defective. What i would really like to know is what type of material is used to make this rubbery product, because if its melting away in high temperature the chemicals from that material could be hazardous to breathe in and can lead to certain cancers, asthma or respiratory problems if inhaled: which would then be considered hazardous to our health if exposed to it, and since we are in the vehicle i guess we would be exposed to it.so! if anyone has the answer to my question i would like to know.ty

Door panels are melting. Lexus corporate will not fix the issue of all door panels melting inside the car. Lexus did however fix the dashboard but does not want to fix the door panels. Door panels feel like play dough sticky and its shape is being destroyed gradually as being used daily.

The "vsc" warning light has been coming on and staying on since november 2017. I have read that many lexus is 250 cars are having the same issue. The car seems to be driving fine for now but there has to be a reason for the warning light. If so many other cars have this issue, i'm wondering if it's a manufacture error?? the warning lights comes on as soon as the engine starts and it does not go out.

A latentdefect in the dashboard and side door panels melt or degrade upon prolonged exposure resulting in a sticky, reflective goo that reduces visibility. The increased glare has become a safety issue. Lexus has refusedmy claim and will not repair my vehicle.

The dashboard is melting.it is extremely tacking to the touch, attracting dust and debris (which cannot, then, be cleaned off).

The dashboard and side panels are melting and very sticky.had to buy a cover for dashboard to prevent the shiny part from hitting the windshield.

I contacted lexus of savannah, ga. About my dash and door panels were dissolving/disintegratingand told that both items are on a recall list and that i would be put on a recall list to be put on their list to be repaired, that was in dec. 2014. I have been in contact with lexus of savannah, ga. And cooperate headquarters numerous times since then and have been told that they didn't know when it would be repaired, last call to the headquarters was yesterday and was told the same. The glare from the dash has become so dangerous that i am concerned that i will have a wreck and be injured or killed from this problem. My car is a 2008 is250 lexus. I would greatly appreciate it if there is any way that you can speed up their repair on my car. Even though it is dangerous to drive i have no other choice. I am sending documentation and can send if necessary.

I have been experiencing this issue since i bought the car, lexus keeps telling me that my engine is fine and they have tested it etc, however it comes to a dead stop and won't go i keep pressing the gas but it hesitates really bad close to be hit by oncoming cars on a daily basis.

Strong gas smell inside car.driving idiling at a stand stilland while car is then turned off after runningalso another problem related or not but showing up at the same time was a bad odor not the smell of gas but the smell of rotten eggs is present after the car excellerates the smell is strong and pungent inside vehicle also

I have bought this car 3 weeks ago and it was 75k mile and originally had 151k miles according to the report off the lexus website.

I was pulling into a parking space with my foot on the brake, almost to a complete stop when the car suddenly accelerated & i went up over a curb & hit a transformer. The distance was only about 8 feet. I do not know how fast i was going probably about 15 - 30 mph. I moved the transformer about 3 feet. (the transformer weighed about 1/2 - 1 ton)9i i do not know how the car accelerated.

I was driving my 2008 is250 at about 40 mph on a two lane roadway when i felt the car accelerate suddenly. I took my foot off the gas pedal but it continued to accelerate to 85 mph. I immediately hit the brake but the vehicle did not stop or even slow down. I had pressed the brake pedal as far as it would go but the vehicle did not respond.the third time i pressed the brake pedal the vehicle began to slow down but would not stop.the speed slowly decreased to about 20 mph but still did not stop. Luckily there was little traffic volume but i was approaching an intersection. The car was slowing down but not stopping. Finally it came to a crawl just as the traffic light turned green. I let go of the brake and the car thrusted forward.i pressed the brake pedal yet again and the vehicle finally came to a stop. I called lexus dealership to report the problem. They towed the car to their service center. Noone asked for specific details of the incident. It didn't seem that this type of complainant was anything new to them.

The contact owns a 2008 lexus is250. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds and attempting to accelerate, the vehicle hesitated prior to responding. The contact stated that the failure was most evident after stopping at a traffic light and then attempting to drive from being stationary. The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed nor repaired. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer were made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 40,000.

The contact owns a 2008 lexus is250. While driving approximately 25-30 mph, the vehicle suddenly accelerated. The brakes were applied but the vehicle would not stop. The contact was unsure of when or how the vehicle stopped but the she ended up in the middle of the road. The contact had blacked out and hit her head. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer but had not been inspected. The current and failure mileages were approximately 42,000.

I like to report an incident of a possible manufacture malfunction on my 2008 lexus is250. The incident happened on 4/29/2010. I was first stopped for red light in the neutral gear. As i was ready to move forward on green light, i switched the automatic transmission to "drive," however the car just accelerated uncontrollable forward. I immediately stepped the brake pedal repeatedly (~3 times), but the brake didn't work until my car hit the car in front of me. After colliding with the car in front of me, my lexus engine shut down by itself. I took my car to magnussen's lexus dealership in fremont, ca, but they could not find a problem. In light of so many problems reported by other drivers against toyota and lexus, i started to think my incident is not an isolated case and may be significant for further investigation. I would like to make an official report to the incident that happened to me and ask you to address the possible safety issue. Best regards

The contact owns a 2008 lexus is250. While driving approximately 5 mph into her garage the vehicle accelerated into the refrigerator door and the garage wall after she applied the brakes. The dealer advised her to take the vehicle to the collision shop to be repaired but the dealer never checked the vehicle. The manufacturer was not notified; however, the contact received a recall notice but didn't indicate what component it was related to. The vin was unknown. The failure mileage was 7,000.

The contact owns a 2008 lexus is250. The contact was driving approximately 2 mph into a parking space. The vehicle surged over a sidewalk and came to a complete stop. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and then transported to an authorized dealer to be repaired. The failure and current mileages were 15,000.

The contact owns a 2008 lexus is-250 which was purchased in october 2008. He stated while traveling at speeds of less than 25 mph on a two-lane street, the vehicle accelerated uncontrollably. He attempted to depress the brake pedal; however, the vehicle continued to accelerate. He then utilized the emergency brake yet the vehicle continued to accelerate. The contact was able to force the gear shift selector into the park position and shut the vehicle off. When the vehicle came to a complete stop, he noticed that the driver's side floor mats were stuck under the accelerator pedal. The local dealer advised him to remove one of the floor mats from the vehicle. There were no recalls on his specific vehicle to date. The current and failure mileages were under 9,900.

As i was attempting to accelerate, the vsc light and check engine light came on, the car lost power, would not accelerate, and the engine started misfiring.

2008 lexus is250. Consumer states when she turned into a parking space, the vehicle suddenly jumped over the concrete barrier and stopped within inches of hitting a brick wall.

Rear view mirror has spots due to manufacturing defect that causes spots all over the rear view mirror making it very difficult to look at oncoming traffic.

Dashboard starts to get really shiny and sticky when the car is out in the sun, either driving or when parked. After temperature in the car and on the dash return to a more moderate temperature, the dashboard is no longer shiny, but it is tacky. Problem is when the dashboard is out in the sun and it gets shiny. This causes a fairly bad glare on the front windshield since the sun is reflecting off the dashboard and on to the front windshield. At times it is hard to determine what is in front of you if the dashboards glare reflects the sun in a certain way. There a few occasions when the dashboard glare was so severe, you could only see out of 2/3 of the front windshield when driving.door panels also exhibit the same behavior and can cause issues when trying to change lanes since the reelection off the top of the door panel makes it hard to see the car in the lane next to you and also make its hard to see the side view mirror with out glare from the door panel reelecting in the mirror. Fortunately this has not lead to any accidents, but the car we use is our secondary car and is hardly used throughout the year.

I have complained about the melting and stickiness of my dashboard and door panels already but no resolution have taken place by the lexus or manufacturer. I have called the service department over 9x's and very seldom i have gotten an answer or a call back.know the dashboard is so shiny, you can't drive it due to an extreme safety hazard because of the glare not being able to see!please help to get this problem fixed.people lives are at stake when driving these cars.

My dash on my car is shiny and sticky from the defected meterial it is made out of and causes glare from the windshield when driving. Door panels are also leaving sticky residue behind on my hands when i touch the door panel. Lexus dealership admits from 2006 to 2008 there is a defect in the interior meterials melting and becoming sticky, but will not do anything to fix it because i am out of warranty. Please help this is very annoying that they dont care.

I purchased a 2008 lexus is250 in february 2011, i have loved my car and have taken the utmost care of it, but recently on a long road trip i noticed my dash was actually melting causing a distracting glare to the point my vision of the road is blocked (pretty hazardous, if you ask me). I began researching the issue, and from what i have found this is a common problem with lexus and toyota. Lexus has even issued a tsib, yet doesn't tell their customers in time before their 50000mi/4 year warranty is up, so they wont be responsible for covering the cost. This seems to be a big issue in the state of fl and other states with hotter weather.i recently took my car into a lexus of north miami (as i found online they have dealt with several customer with the same issue). They sent the request to corporate and came back and said i would have to pay for labor for the dash (around $200+) and the doors they would go 50/50 which would cost me out pocket roughly 1400 per door. For a safety hazard, i forgot unless people die does toyota motor corp do anything to fix defects in their cars!the melting effects all the car panels, it ruins my clothing, and unfortunately i am not a scientist but i am sure the break down in chemicals, could only be just as harmful. I really hope you can help, as this is unfair for a corporation to know their issue and not at all stand by their customers. In for service at lexus dealer on 6/3/09 - driving w/sunroof and windows opened the rearview mirror vibrates extensively to the point images are totally distorted causing motion sickness, unable to switch lanes safely wo/closing sunroof nor see oncoming traffic. Mirror torqued on 6/3/09 and replaced under tsib nv006-07 8/17/09.mirror still vibrates extensively and now the auto dimmer feature does not work, making driving at nights very difficult and affecting my well being.

The contact owns a 2008 lexus is250. The contact stated that all four rims were corroded and causing the tires to deflate. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician verified the failure, and stated that all four rims needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 55,000 and the current mileage was 101,000.

I hit a pothole on my way to work at 4:55pm on monday feb.24,2014. The pothole was at the intersection of cumberland ave and higgins ave.i was going north on cumberland towards talcott ave, park ridge. As i approached higgins ave, red light turned on. I was behind one car when the green light turned on. The car in front of me was able to avoid the pothole, but since i was right behind, i did not. The moment i hit this pothole with my front, left tire my dashboard displayed a message that i have low pressure in the tire. Automatically my wheel started pulling me to the side. I drove up cumberland ave for approximately 1 block and pulled to the nearest side street that was on my right: glenlake ave. I got out of the car to find a flat tire. By the time i got help, it was 5:45pm. I called park ridge police department asking what i should do and i was directed to file a claim towards my insurance. I wanted to make a picture of the pot hole but considering higgins ave and cumberland ave is a large, busy intersection, i was not able to stop and take a picture. Today, feb.26,2014, i was going the same way to work and i found the pothole to be patched up. I want to know who will pay for my damaged tire? the pothole must have been very deep since upon impact, i automatically got a flat. I also wanted to add that i was starting off from a full stop. I did not drive more than 15 mph. All in all, this situation is causing me a lot of inconvenience and i want to know if the city of chicago will reimburse me for the costs that i now have.
