Air bag warning light turned on while we were driving normally. The dealership quoted us the fix will be $3400. Service bulletin for this problem is l-sb-0167-08, and with this, air bag on driver side knee will not deploy. Although this is only a service bulletin, it seems to me as this is a safety issue, therefore, needs to be recalled. The charge of $3400, which basically is 10% of initial cost of the car, is unreasonable, especially given the frequent occurrence reported by other owners of this vehicle and how the problem is at the harness, where consumers have no access to on daily basis. It was reported online that the harness cable is designed to short causing the harness to stretch, which damage the harness over time. My car has not been in a major car accident to cause any alternations and repairs to this part of the vehicle.

Takata recall plus the interior dash and interior side door panels are deteriorating. The front dash has an oily slick residue which glares into the front windshield making it dangerous to operate. The dealership stated that i am on the list as #139 and they've replaced 20 to date. This has been a known problem for years. At this rate and if history repeats itself neither will be remedied in my lifetime.

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2007 lexus is 250. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 16v340000 (air bags); however, the parts to do the repair were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer (lexus of tampa bay located at 5852 n dale mabry hwy, tampa, fl 33614; (813) 365-7152) was contacted and confirmed that the parts were not available for the recall remedy. The manufacturer was not contacted. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

Takata recall:local lexus dealership in tacoma, washington not willing to repair potentially lethal airbag for (4) four months.we cannot be without a transportation for +/- 16 weeks due to dealership issues.

Passenger osc sensor fails due to faulty wiring harness. Lexus charges $2500 to repair and will not cover under warranty.

On june 8th of 2016 i was sitting at a red light and was rear-ended and pushed into the another vehicle causing extensive damage and total loss. None of my airbags were deployed and i was taken to the emergency room with neck left arm and back trauma. My passenger had neck sprain and a bruise on her thigh.

The air bag light came on in our 2007 lexus is 250. We recently brought it into the lexus of cherry hill (nj) dealership for a couple other recall items, and figured that we better have this air bag issue looked over as soon as possible. Thinking it was an electrical/circuit problem, we were completely shocked when the lexus representative stated that admittedly there was a manufacturer's defect in the air bag cable harness; it was made too short in the lexus 2006 - 2007 is 250 models. After researching, i saw that this exact information is all over the internet, posted by other angry 2006 - 2007 lexus is 250 owners. In summary, the air bags will now not deploy during vehicle impact, until we, the consumer, pay $3,500.00 to get them fixed. I went around-and-around with lexus of cherry hill and their corporate office in california, fighting, because i see no reason why, i, the consumer, must pay a hefty price for an extremely important safety defect that is 100% lexus' flaw. I have managed to get my out-of-pocket cost down to $2,300.00 now, but it is $2,300.00 of my hard earned money which was saved for a 2015 vacation, that i absolutely should not have to put out for this major manufacturer defect.they recalled our car at no cost, for wiper blades and floor mats, but lexus refuses to make right what they built wrong, which could cause life-threatening injuries or death. Has toyota/lexus learned nothing from gm?

I bought my car since 2007 on feb, have no idea why the passenger seat belt always off when my girlfriend sitting in my car. I did bring it back to lexus but they said no problem......the past 3 and a half years i don't feel comfortable to let my family sitting in my car cause i don't know what going on with the passenger seat belt sign.

Lexus has known about this recall for months and has still not started fixing the airbags.

I have complained to the lexus dealership as well as sonic about this dashboard. My warranty was valid my first several complaints, pictures were taken by a lexus rep and sent to corporate. At that time corporate denied complaint i personally called and a rep told me that they have received calls in regards to melting sticky dashboard and they having this problem with people that live in hot humid climate. I was in disbelief that the rep told that to me. I asked the rep who makes a car based on climate weather i live in alabama and in the summer with the sun beaming on dashboard can possibly cause a car accident. Safety safety has been my main concern this is dangerous. They called me and said they worked pay 20% then a couple days later said 20% only towards parts.

*"takata recall" life threatening airbag defect in lexus is 250 but no plans to fix it* faulty dashboard, side panels interior completely melting - lexus promised to fix but its been years not fixed on lexis is 250

Vehicle's passenger airbag has still not been fixed. Lexus dealer is telling me they can't order the replacement airbag and have no remedy for the problem. I was notified over a year ago about this recall. My vehicle was purchased in alabama and is considered a zone a vehicle. I currently live in texas which is also zone a.

Takata recallthe interim recall notice was sent out around may'16 when the recall started. Calling the dealership provided no information on when a fix will be available nor any additional remedy provided. This car is unsuitable for commuting with a passenger because "metal fragments could pass through the airbag cushion material, striking vehicle occupants, and result in serious injury or death". With such the potential for such a traumatic outcome, either a fix needs to be implemented immediately or rental cars should be made available to those who do not wish to put them or their passengers at risk.without being able to determine how at risk a vehicle is for the inflator degredation, remedy options should be provided not only to those under immediate recall but for vehicles that are in the interim period (pre-recall) as well.

I just had my 1st child and i want to know when my airbag problem will be fixed

I was driving south in my car during the middle of the day, and the glare from my dashboard was so bad i wasn't able to see a car appx 30 feet in front of me.there was no accident, but due to lexus using defective materials for their dashboard, it has melted and become shiny enough to be a real danger as the glare fully impedes view while driving in sunlight.as the passenger airbag is also contained in the dash, i have heard of a danger of it being triggered as well due to this issue.i contacted both lexus customer support as well as my local lexus dealership.i found online that there was purportedly a service bulletin that was issued to by lexus (i obtained a copy online) to dealers in 2011 informing them of the material problem and availability of replacement parts (affected both dash and door panels), but bulletin this was not communicated to owners (i.e. No recall), so i was never made aware and was out of warranty at the time the bulletin was issued as it was only effective 48 months from in-service date even though my model year was included in the affected vehicles.the most they were willing to cover was 50% of the replacement part cost.my responsibility would have been $2800 to fully re-mediate the issues (dash and doors), which i declined as i feel lexus should be fully accountable as the problem is admittedly due to faulty material used in the manufacture of certain years/vins of their vehicles.this also impacts my resale value even though that alone is not safety-related, it should be considered as well.i took cell phone video of the glare from my dash that impeded view and have that available if needed.

Takata recallneed to knkw when we can remedy the problem with the airbag propellant (g2h)

Owners of toyotas and lexus vehicles are experiencing problems with the airbag occupant sensor located under the right front seat dealers are not acknowledging this problem. It is all over the internet and facebook. It is similar to the tacoma frames rusting out prematurely. Eventually they acknowledged the problem and took action. It appears they won't take any action until pressured.

The recall for cars in high humidity states are suppose to have high priority to get driver side airbag replace. We live in such a area with high temps and humidity. We were notified may 23rd , 2016 we had this recall and they would schedule a time and date. As of december 10, 2016 still waiting. Please assist with getting proper authoritiesschedule date to fix asap!!!! . This is a nation wide recall

I have a lexus is 250 2007, the dashboard material is low grade and unsafe, for visibility while driving in day hours. When i was notified by a friend that the lexus organization have made a recall on the all the lexus cars such as mine, i called the dealership in my city houston tx and they did not help me, and they said the recall don't exist.

I am highly concerned and worried about this passenger airbag recall. When asked lexus about the remedy, i was told that the remedy would not be available until december of 2016. This seems unreasonable. Also does this recall affect the driver's side? it seems unclear as the reports showed that those who were affected by the degraded airbags were in the driver's side. Can someone please look into this? thank you.

Takata recall - no fix available for multiple months, unable to operate the car with a a passenger

The dashboard of my 07 lexus is 250 has been oozing a greasy unknown chemical. Aside from being unsightly and dirty, this sticky dashboard poses a severe safety issue. On sunny days, very common in s.florida, the chemical ooze produces a glare on the windshield that impairs the driver from having a clear unobstructed view of the road. I almost struck a pedestrian due to the fact that he was unseen by me due to the blind spot created by the glare. Luckily, i was able to stop in time. Being able to clearly view the road is essential in conducting a vehicle safely. Research needs to be conducted to see if the defective dashboards will have an impact on the effective and safe deployment of the passenger airbagsif a slight graze by a fingernail on the dashboard causes it to break off, how will the it react with the speed and power that an airbag deployment will have. Another safety concern, that needs to be investigated is the toxic impact that this chemical creates, especially after being exposed to the heat of a parked car in the sun.is anybody investigating the impact that this defective material may have on the health of my family and myself, after being exposed to this unknown substance on a daily basis? this material is reacting so unexpectedly by falling apart, how do we know it is not toxic?i 'm the original owner of this 'luxury vehicle' who has less than 60,500 miles. Lexus and the dealer, offered 25% off to repair the defective dashboard and doors. It is disappointing and troublesome to realize that lexus does not acknowledge that this safety and quality issue is due to defective materials and not caused by regular wear and tear. What criteria does lexus use to decide who gets this manufacturer defect repaired for free and who pays $3000?how is it possible that my floor mats have outlived my dashboard and door panels?

Takata recall

The passenger airbag will not activate. The passenger air bag light is permanently lit. Paid to lexus dealer $ 185.for diagnostic, they said mi car needs new cushion and new computer cost about 2800, that's outrageous, should be a safety recall cause is related to airbag recall a safety issue,

There has been an ongoing problem with these cars with the air bag wiring harness. Many cars have had this problem including my car. The wiring harness gets disconnected from the air bag itself and disconnects puts on the air bag light. Taking it to the local dealer i was told that it would be $2,500 out of pocket. Looking through the forums many people have had this problem and it is a very normal problem with these cars.

Takata recall: this recall is more than 6 months old. Lexus suggests not to operate the vehicle with an occupant in the front passenger seat. I have effectively lost operation of half of my vehicle.

Takata recalli am getting very concerned about the replacement date for this recall.i feel like we have been patient, but it has been well over a year.i spoke with our local dealership today.i had to tell them that my letter stated that we are in zone b.apparently, zone b is currently being repaired. However, they had no idea when i might receive the letter that the repair was available in our area.i realize this was a very large recall, but i am very concerned about the safety of my family.the dealership stated that'humid' areas were being replaced first because they were having most of the issues with injuries ... I have not seen anything that stated that humidity had anything to do with the horrible things that are happening with the airbag deployment.thankfully we have had no accidents at this time.but, i would really like to know at least a timeframe for replacement .... And know that it was being done in the very near future.

The passenger side airbag has been recalledfor sometime ( i got the recall in may 2016)there is nofix yet available. I would like the air bag shut off until they have a replacement. My concerns:1. I live in pa which has the highest reported deer strikes in the country.the odds of a deer hitting my car and causingthe airbag to deploy are pretty high.2. Air bags recalled degrade over time- this is a 2007 car 3. The car is small anddistance from passenger from driver side- minimal- if the bag deploys i am in the range of shrapnel4. The dealer states it is the policy of lexus that they will not deactivate the bags, but i would sign a release of liability and continueto not allow a front passenger5. There are so many people in this situation, and there are cases where people waiting for the recall have been seriously injured by the airbags!please consider a policy helping me and so many others who are waiting for a fix have some control over the situation!

I was in a car accident a 4-car pile up. I was first rear ended by a chevy tahoe. He shoved me into the car in front of me and then they hit the car in front of them. My entire front was severely damaged to the point my car is totaled. The back end of my car was severely damaged as well. The airbags did not deploy. I was in a 2007 lexus is250.

Sensor for the passenger airbag is not working properly.the airbag light turns "off"when i sit in the passenger seat. The problem occurs all the time and i find myself in the passenger seat literally without any airbag protection. The dealership said they cannot fix the problem because i am underweight. I am not that small, with approx. 5'4' and 100 pounds.i am deeply concerned for my safety.

Back up camera malfunction sometimes put in reverse. The screen goes blank with some color lines going all over the screen.

Sitting still in a parking lot. Just started the car. Led lights stopped working on speedometer and rpm. Then i tried to touch my gps and it stopped recognizing my touch. Traveling down the road, my headlights go out and i turn the light switch off and back on and my headlights come back on. Two years later (present time), my headlights still go off while driving or sitting still very frequently. My led lights are still not working and i ended up purchasing another gps screen and had an auto electrician install it for me. Occasionally my air conditioning system has a mind of its own by switching to different setting on its own. I have to turn it off and back on before i can change settings on it myself and sometimes it still won't let me change them. Auto electricians said that they would be chasing a ghost trying to find what is causing all the problems. I have looked up complaints on the model and year of this vehicle online and have found many others having the same problems that i am experiencing. Something needs to be done. This will cost each vehicle owner thousands of dollars before an electrician could possibly be able to find the problem and fix it .

Repeatedly, while driving at night, my headlights will unexpectedly turn off. I have to then turn the headlight switch completely off and on again to get the headlights to turn back on.

The headlights on my 2007 lexus is 250 keep going out while i'm driving, the dealership(lexus of atlantic city) want me to pay $600.00 for the replacement of the computer that is causing the problem. I talked with a former lexus service tech and he said they have had this problem for a while but dont want to address it because of the cost involved and the negative press. I have been stopped by the state police and almost ticketed for this problem. I have children and had to pull over as many as 5 times during a 40 min trip, turn the lights off and then back on to continue to my destination.this occurs when i drive in the dark.thank you in advance for your response.

Engine light comes on and the car stalls or cuts off. The vsc light and traction light is on also. There's a burning smell that happens often. In addition my acceleration pedal causes me issues also which has put a whole in mat by getting stuck from time to time.

8.about 90 minutes after parking the car, dave went to start lexus is250 to go to a restaurant to meet family. The car would not start. So he took a cab. The next morning (saturday july 31, 2010) he jump started the lexus is250 and drove it to , a toyota dealership which was the nearest repair facility listed in the lexus is250's navigation system as a repair facility system. The dealer advised that it could not be able be reimbursed for warrantee service but tested and advised that the battery was bad. Dave bought a new battery from them. The nearest lexus dealer was in syracuse, 90 miles away and was closed.9.the lexus is250 then started fine. Dave drove to the birthday lunch after which the lexus is250 again could not be started without being jumped started. Dave then returned to the motel to change into hiking cloths. The lexus is250 again would not start. Dave cut his stay short and loaded the lexus is250 up because he did not want to be stuck in summer sunday traffic with road construction delays while the lexus is250 was erratic. Daves plan had originally been to drive from ithaca to ocean city, maryland to spend time with his children and grandchildren. Dave decided it would be better to go directly home and takehis always reliable subaru to the ocean.10.it was a dark saturday night when dave had crossed the new york ' pennsylvania state line and was going through a mountain pass when the lexus is250 became very scary. All of the lights and all apparent electric power went out momentarily and came back on. This repeated itself more than 3 dozen times while he drove straight through to his home. Another odd problem was that when he used the switches up close the windows, 3 of the 4 would close then come back down between 1 and 2.

Headlights completely shut off while driving my 2007 lexus is250. This has happened a total of 4 times since i purchased the car 5 months ago.i had to switch headlights off and back on again in order for them to work.

2007 lexus is250 headlamps sporadic intermittent failure to stay on and it can only be reactivated by turning the inside cabin headlamp switch on/off to keep it to stay on for an unpredictable several minutes of use.i've replaced the xenon bulbs several times already but the failure persists to happen.

This vehicle went into the lexus dealership for a recall on the fuel system.after receiving it back from the dealership, the vehicle shuts off completely without notice.the vehicle has been back to the dealership for repairs and each time it is returns, within a week the vehicle shuts down.as of october, the dealership has received almost $8000.00 for repairs.this vehicle is becoming a death trap.it would shut down after stopping at a stop light or stop sign, but the last two times, it has shut off while driving.once on the interstate.we are asking that something be done immediately, this car is unsafe to drive and the dealership continues to find other issues to make money, but has failed to repair the issue caused by the recall repair.lexus headquarters has been notified.the maryland attorney general has been requested to intervene and assist us with this issue.your help would truly be appreciated.

My husband was driving on i 295 in maryland, when the car suddenly shutdown.he stated he was going approximately 55 miles per hour and was fortunate enough to be able to maneuver from the middle lane to the side of the road.this is not the first time the vehicle shutdown completely.the previous incidents occurred after stopping at a stop sign or signal.the vehicle has been to the lexus dealership in maryland for repairs, but each time(at least 4 now) within a 6-7 days, the vehicle shuts down.these incidents did not start until after the dealership took care of the fuel recall, april of 2015.

Vsc light, check engine light, traction control light all came on at the same time. Po303 cylinder 3 misfire detected. Have saw online many people complaining of the same problem. Engine is shaky during idle or shaky when its cold. Previous owned a 2009 lexus is250 and had the same problem. Heard of some people saying lexus dealers took cars in and had problem fixed as recall. Not finding any recalls for my car. My mechanic says its a good running car, but something doesn't feel right.

The contact owns a 2007 lexus is 250. While driving approximately 35 mph, the esc warning indicator illuminated and the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to start the vehicle. In addition, while approaching a traffic light, the vehicle stalled again. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the vsc code was reset; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 170,800.

Takata recall. While driving the vehicle the lights will just go off or flicker. This can sometimes be corrected by turning the lights off then back on. This can happen while driving or idlelight bulbs have been replace and the problem still persist. Check vsc light on with no problems with the engine. Coke's on and off for years

Engine light comes on and the car stalls or cuts off. The vsc light and traction light is on also. There's a burning smell that happens often. In addition my acceleration pedal causes me issues also which has put a whole in mat by getting stuck from time to time.

The contact owns a 2007 lexus is 250. The contact stated that the vsc and check engine indicators illuminated intermittently. While driving 20 mph, the traction control failed and the vehicle spun out of control onto an open field. The dealer stated that the exhaust pipe was excessively corroded and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired and the manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 70,000.

Check engine, vsc, traction lights comes on as vehicle comes to a stop with a rough idle, and at times exhibits a temporary loss of power intermittently, while the vehicle is mobile/rolling. Lexus sent out a tsib letter to us owners for similar symptoms with possible diagnostic trouble codes(dtc):p0300-p0306. Further, according to lexus corp. "the check engine light may illuminate for reasons of unrelated condition."lexus corporation suspects the cause of problem is carbon deposit accumulation in the intake valves and a replacement of piston ring set and or pistons may be indicated.if this is what's occurring inside the engine and is inherent to is250 models only ,then it would seem to a reasonable person there is a design and potential safety flaw in these vehicle models.also, because of this design flaw, my vehicle is now having catalytic failure and a what sounds like a rattle during a cold crank start of the vehicle.however, when a vehicle is taken to a dealer, the lexus dealers are quick to dismiss the problem by the claims that the symptoms are not replicable enough for them to verify the problem.the temporary loss of power may one day cause the driver to have a serious accident should the steering wheel lockup or should the problem happen during hill ascends, which may cause the vehicle to roll back into traffic or off the main road.why is lexus corporation not making this issue a safety recall, and rather, just treating it as a concern nature.i would beseech the traffic safety board to please look into this matter as to avoid any injury or worse, a loss of innocent life.this is my first lexus vehicle and it has become a very disappointing experience.

Camshaft gear gone bad at only 85,000and lexus is aware of anddoes nothing to do a recall. This is a 3000,00 fix.

The transmission slips on reverse. It does not traverse unless i driven 30 minutes and going 40 amd higher, the rpms start at 4k then 5k amd keeps getting higher. The engines wants to stall from time to time. The suspension is hard, even after changing the shocks

Upon starting the car the car shook and got a vsc and engine check light. Called the dealer right away and they said they would have to charge 100 to see what happened. Come to find. Out after the fact there was a voluntary notice put out by lexus on this issue which they have extended warranties for. This has already happened twice to me while driving and both times lexus will not fix it under warranty claiming it does not happen when they take it in. They will not fix the problem unless it occurs while their testing even though the notification indicating the issue is coming up. They have also claimed it is safe to drive although it does not seem safe to have a car randomly stall at any point of time. My research has shown that this is a common problem for consumers with this car. It is also understood that the fix would require a considerable amount of time to fix by lexus ( they would need to keep the car for a month). The cost associated with this is likely why they are hesitant to fix.

The engine upon cold start up makes a rattling noise and is very loud. Lexus in september recalled the lexus is 350 for the same reason and they said the car was unsafe to drive. However, i called lexus customer satisfaction and they diagnosed it as the same issue at my dealership, but would not correct the problem. Also, back in march the vehicle smelt like raw gasoline, so i took it to the dealer and it was leaking gas in the engine compartment. The dealer told me due to the gas vapor, which is extremely flammable that the car could have exploded. However, lexus would not cover this safety issue under warranty either. This vehicle has been a death trap from day one. It has also been recalled for the faulty gas pedal, brakes working improperly, other fuel line issues other than i mentioned, and even the windshield wipers.

Lexus is250 crank loud noise sounds like the car is going to explode. Lexus is aware of a camshaftgear problem and has recalled same or similar parts in other lexus model vehicles due to safety issues.they also have an updated part available to remedy this problem but refuse a recall in this model

The contact owns a 2007 lexus is 250. While driving 55 mph, the engine stalled and failed to restart. The failure recurred once and the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic. The technician diagnosed that the engine failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 50,000.

At start up, the car rattles. After several complaints to the dealer several other "fixes" have been done. One fix was to replace the piston rings under recall. I have now started to record all car starts with a camera. In doing so i was able to get the rattle on video. Upon showing this to my service advisor and his superior, they said it had something to do with the cam. Several times before i was told, oh it is no big deal. A cam issue is a very big deal, and now i am being told that the vvt is causing the cam and cam sprocket to shake. This shaking not only creates the rattle noise on start up but is a warning that the sprocket is falling apart. I have 67,000 miles on my car and it is a 2007, therefore pushing me closer and closer to being out of warranty. The dealer stated it is $2500 fix. These cars are all lemons. More of them have the same identical problems, than those that don't have problems. I believe research should be done on the is as a whole, especially the motors as they are prone to many, many defects. I should not have to pay for poor engineering and poor quality/faulty parts. This should be the dealer, corporate, and the manufacturers responsibility. If i could i would sell the car back to the dealer. I purchased this car used june 2012 and within a few weeks i had problems with it, should have been a tell tale sign.

At approximately 40,000 mi. My 2007 lexus is 250 developed a problem of stalling, shaking, misfiring and the vsc light, traction skid light and check engine lights all come on.the dealership initially tried to tell me that the gas cap was not on tight (not true) and then they tried to tell me that just turning the lights off would fix the problem (also not true).after i insisted that the problem was serious and dangerous, the technician drove the car home and had the same problem that i had been experiencing.finally, the dealership decided that carbon had built up on the valves and that was causing the engine to misfire and all the lights to come on.the dealership sent the valves to a shop and had them cleaned and ground down.the service manager told me that there was a design flaw and this is what lexus told them to do to fix it.now, here i am at 81,000 miles and the same thing happened again yesterday with the car shaking, stalling, misfiring and the vsc light, traction skid light and check engine lights coming on.it has been another 40,000 miles and the carbon has built up again.i have read on the internet that many other people have had the same problem.

Compartment of where the cabin air filter is for the 2007 lexus is 250, a bolt is rusting and the dealership acknowledges the fact but fails to fix the issue. They claim that this is common for the bolt to rust.

On 3/5/11 at approximately 8:30 am, i was in a parking lot traveling at about 5 mph in drive with my right foot lightly applying the brake when the brakes seemed not to hold as they should and the engine suddenly increased to 4500 - 5500 rpm. I applied increased force to the brake pedal, placed the gear shift into park, and noted the rpms climbing above 5500. I then pressed the start/stop button and the engine stopped. This episode occurred on dry, smooth asphalt on a clear, cold (30 degree) day. The engine was at normal operating temperature, initially running at near idle (in the parking lot), with the gear shift in drive, cruise control off, radio, cd, a/c, defroster were all off. Heat and fan were on with interior temp set at 74 degrees. This episode has not repeated as of the filing of this report (4 days post-event). Note: i was wearing "sneakers", not any type of oversized winter boots. The car mats had been previously replaced by the dealer as a result of an earlier recall; no additional mats were in place. All required maintenance, up to and including 36,000 miles, has been performed by the dealer.

On 02/06/09 the car engine malfunction light turned on as well as the other one's on the dash. The car reduced the velocity while driving on the highway and did not accelerate any faster the 40 mph. I took the car to the lexus dealership service department.they stated it was a misfire in some cylinder andalso some problem with the gasoline.they fixed it. On may 4, 2009 i had the same problem with the car. The car malfunctioning lights turned on and the car loses velocity while driving on the highway.so far the car has been at the lexus service department waiting to be repaired.lexus stated it is the vehicle motor pipes that need be changed and they have not arrived at the dealership up until today may 26, 2009.they have told me the vehicle motor pipes are on back ordered until june 2009.what can i do???the consumer was informed the engine escape valves were broken. Updated 05/27/09.

Sudden acceleration with 2007 lexus is 250.

We have returned 2007 lexus is 250 4 times to dealer for stalling while on highway. Dangerous scenario. Each time the service center stated the car was fixed only to get back on highway and again it stalls. The last two times the car would not go over 5 mph within 24 hours of when car was returned to us. The last three trips to lexus have been within the last 2 weeks. I don't think lexus has a grasp of why their cars are stalling.

Unintended sudden acceleration while braking for a stop sign in a residential area.this was the only time of the occurrence, was able to stop it by turning off the engine.upon restart, problem resolved itself.it was taken to the dealer with description of the problem, they noted idle was up from 750 rpm to 1100 rpm, decided to keep it overnight for further investigation.we where contacted the next day and told that the problem was resolved.they advised us the found a loose battery connection.no parts replaced but resolution and problem don't make sense.we did not experience any other electrical problems before the issue.we have the factory oem standard floor mats, secured by the hook and it was not touching the accelerator pedal.

The vehicle dashboard and doors materials are melted/sticky/glossy, cannot be touched or even clean, my main concern is the airbag.

Complaints regarding 2007 lexus is 250:1. Steering wheel sticks when turning to the right. This occurs 3-5 times per week and has almost caused several accidents and collisions. 2. When applying pressure on the brake, the car jumps forward and accelerates. This occurs 2-5 times per month. This has nearly caused me to rear end other cars on several occasions. 3. Car flutters and stalls when reversing. ( car is an automatic) car also flutters when stopped at a red light or stop sign. Car does this when its hot or cold. This occurs 5-10 times per month.i have taken my car to the lexus dealership several times for the above issues, and they have done nothing. These issue occur very frequently and the dealer seems to not be able to "find" any problems. I have received a recall notice for an acceleration issue, and was instructed to remove my floor mat. Nothing else has been done and the dealer has been no help. I am concerned that these issues will harm or even kill myself or my family and or another driver or family on the road.

The contact owns a 2007 lexus is 250. The contact stated that the interior of the vehicle became filled with water, covering the passenger and driver's side front and rear floorboards. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic where it was determined that the grommet from the air conditioning had failed. The vehicle was repaired.the manufacturer was contacted about the failure.the failure mileage was 77,500.

I purchased a cpo lexus is250 in 2008, i had intermittent headlight failure brough car into lexus and was told they couldnt reproduce the problem.picked my car up brought it home and sure enough the headlight is out.called lexus immediately sent a picture of the light out.brought car back in they switched the headlight and of course the light on the same side went out again.i was very fristrated because as a female and knowing warranty was up soon i feel they didnt care.the light went out again and happens every day i had bulbs replaced and problem still happens.i have been ticketed for light flickering and going out.driving on highway at 65mpj, check engine and check vsc light go on, car drops power and downshifts very hard, i drop to 40 mph in the left lane of highway.check vsc and check engine light on at 1

Repeatedly, while driving at night, my headlights will unexpectedly turn off. I have to then turn the headlight switch completely off and on again to get the headlights to turn back on.

Headlights completely shut off while driving my 2007 lexus is250. This has happened a total of 4 times since i purchased the car 5 months ago.i had to switch headlights off and back on again in order for them to work.

While driving at night the left (driver side) headlight lamp will just go out.then i have to turn off all of the lights completely and turn them back on immediately, then it will come back on, but sometimes i can tell its out by looking at the reflection in a vehicle in front of me, then other times i don't know it's out unless someone flashes me and i'm afraid the police are going to pull me over and give me a ticket for a headlight being out.i feel there is a short somewhere because it comes back on if i turn off the lights completely and turn them back on real quick. It happens at least every night (or morning dusk to dawn hours), sometimes twice a night.besides it being annoying it is dangerous not having both lights on while driving at night or in the rain.

Driving on the highway all of a sudden the power steering shuts off. The steering gets very stiff and barely manage to get safely to side of the road. (a driver with less arm strength would most likely cause accident due to stiffness of steering) when pulled to side of the road and vehicle is turned off then turned on again. The steering works properly again. While it does this the "p/s" light on dash comes on. Also the vehicles hid lights go out while driving. When turned off and on again. They continue to work.

My 2007 lexus is250 awd has started having complete headlight failures that can be simply corrected by turning the lights off and back on. These failures can happen anytime while driving or at rest.

While driving the headlights on my 2007 is250 will just go off. Most of the time it is the left one, occasionally the right one will go out.i have to turn the lights off and right back on,then they will stay on.this has been happening intermittently for a couple of years.it happens more frequently now, several times each week.the dealer says that the bulb is going out and needs to be replaced, going out for a couple of years? really.i would have believed that if i had not seen so many complaints regarding the same thing.i was told by the dealer the bulbs would be replaced under the warranty but not the extended warranty.i have around 45,000 or46,000 miles.

The headlight light bulb is out on the driver's side, but works properly when not overheated.

Head lights work and then do not work .paid $1500 to fix and still does not work ..

While driving my vehicle my lights will just turn off.sometimes just the left, sometimes just the right and sometimes both at the same time.when i turn the light switch off and then back on they come back on and stay on.i've seen numerous complaints.changing the lightbulbs does not work.

When operating the front headlights, the lights will fade off during driving.the bulb does not go completely out, but within a few minutes of driving, they will go out.i have to click the lights on and off for them to come back on.i have had one bulb replaced, and will have the other replaced as well.this seems to be a common issue with this vehicle as i have a co-worker that experiences the same with his is350 lexus.

My headlights on my 2007 lexus is250 turn off while driving. My car has done this for the past 2 years, anywhere from once a night to 3-5 times in one trip. They will come back on if you turn the light switch off then back on. I brought my car into the dealership and they told me that my bulbs were out (2 years ago) and they replaced both bulbs for about $650.00. The lights continued to turn off. I brought my car and was told there was nothing they could do.

The contact owns a 2007 lexus is250. The contact stated that while driving 60 mph the headlights turned off independently without any warnings. The contact mentioned he had to park and restart the vehicle to get the lights to turn on. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was awaiting diagnosis. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 100,000 and the current mileages was 103,000.

Vehicle headlights go out while driving. I have done some research and discovered it is a major problem with this model and would like to know why there has not been a recall to address the problem. I have a 16 year old driving this vehicle and i am very concerned.

The contact owns a 2007 lexus is 250. While driving 60 mph, the contact stated that the headlights began to flicker independently. The vehicle was taken dealer for inspection where the headlights were switched and replace; however, the failure recurred. The recent failure was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 40000.

The contact owns a 2007 lexus is 250. While driving approximately 55 mph on a dark road, the headlights failed. The failure recurred on several occasions. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the headlights needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 90,000.

The contact owns a 2007 lexus is250. While driving 65 mph, the vehiclestalled. When she restarted the engine the vehicle's spped would not exceed 5mph. The contact was forced to drive onto the emergency lane. The vehicle was towed to a lexus dealer who confirmed that the fuel rail pressure censor failed . The part was removed and replaced with a new one under warranty. After the vehicle was repaired, the vehicle stalled once again. The dealer was contacted once again and theystated that it was a misfire. There was no repairs performed the second time. The failure mileage was 81,418 and the current mileage was 82,707.

The contact owns a 2007 lexus is 250. The contact stated that there was a strong odor of fuel emitted from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer on several occasions where the failure was not able to be determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact received nhtsa campaign number: 14v647000 (fuel system, gasoline) but the remedy was not available. The contact felt that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The failure mileage was 20,000.updated 3/13/15

Issues with lexus is250 service recall reagarding insufficient tightening of the fuel pressure sensor, after service noticed faint smell of gas inside air cabin on different occasions.

The contact owns a 2007 lexus is250. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign id number: 14v647000 (fuel system, gasoline) however, the part was unavailable to perform the repair. The manufacturer was notified of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.

Upon parking vehicle accelerated when the brake was applied. I questioned myself if the incident could have been operator related. I was propelled into a steel barrier that resulted in damage to the front bumper and grill. Later that day the car accelerated a second time when applying the brakes while parking the vehicle. Fortunately no one was in front of me. No one was hurt and the air bags did not deploy. This second incident has lead me to believe that the car is not safe to drive. Toyota investigated the incident and is explaining that my foot was on the accelerator pedal and break at the same time which is just not true. I can't drive the vehicle or sell it.i'm disappointed at this car company.

The contact owns a 2007 lexus is 250. The contact stated that there was a progressing failure for years in which there were strong fumes of fuel emitting into the interior of the vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer for nhtsa campaign id numbers: 11v029000 (fuel system, gasoline), 14v647000 (fuel system, gasoline) and was unable to determine what parts were replaced by the dealer. The dealer diagnosed that there was a potential fuel pressure sensor leak and that the fuel pressure sensor may need to be replaced but the dealer did not replace the part. The mechanic indicated the sealing property of the gasket was resealed near the the fuel delivery pipe. The contact was concerned that the failure was only sealed and that the fuel delivery pipe and the fuel pressure sensors were not replaced. The contact indicated that within a week of the repair the srong fumes of fuel continued. The vehicle was not repaired from the recalls and the contact was waiting for a response from the manufacturer to take the vehicle to an authorized dealer. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.

I lost power steering and very hard to turn the steering wheel. Ps light is came on the dash.

The transmission slips on reverse. It does not traverse unless i driven 30 minutes and going 40 amd higher, the rpms start at 4k then 5k amd keeps getting higher. The engines wants to stall from time to time. The suspension is hard, even after changing the shocks

Driver's seat fell to bottom most position (vertically) with a loud pop.the car was waiting at a stop light.the same thing happened 3 months later while driving down the highway.

There is an electronic computer that controls the abs brakes on toyota/lexus and if it goes bad it can cause you to lose your brakes! my wife and i almost crashed! when the brakes went out, they felt squishy and check engine light, vsc, lights went on. Then the brakes got real sensitive, i either got it to come to screeching stop in traffic or barely come inches from rear ending the car in front of us.

On feb.6,2010@10:00amdriving on my residential street, at a speed between 25 to 35 mph. I was comingto a stop sign on my street . As i began to brake tostop at the sign, which was a three way stop. My car at first seem to slide due to the snowy road a slippery condition. As i further hit the brakes, the car accelerated through the stop sign across the street over the curb onto the sidewalk and into my neighbors yard.i was within 25 to 50 feet of hitting my neighbors house. This incident happened so fast and without any warning that something was wrong. Since this happened i took my car to classic lexus and the service department gave my lexus a full inspection and no incident of this nature has happened since 2-6-10.the incident left me completely shaken and nervous for several weeks.i have just this day been able to sit down and put my words of the incident on this paper.

Purchased car in feb 2008 from lexus of pembroke pines fl, and immediately had brake concerns. Returned to dealerand was informed that there was no problem. Brakes began to screech consistently everytime the vehicle would brake. Around 13k miles, returned to dealer. This time the brakes were replaced.this time they feel spongy and not consistent when brake pedal is appliedbrakes continued to screech as i backup and brake at traffic lights i figured the noise was due to the brakes being brand new. I noticed a large amount of heat coming from the passenger front brake area, when i looked down my entire rotor was bright red like it was on fire. I have two small children that i transport to and from school everyday and this defect in the braking system is unacceptable and could cause a major accident.

Two compaints on my lexus is250: 1) purchased car in january 2007, and immediately had brake concerns. Returned to dealer two times and was informed that there was no problem. Brakes began to screech around 15k miles, returned to dealer. This time the brakes were replaced. Now at 20k miles and brakes are an issue again. This time they feel spongy and not cosistent when brake pedal is applied. Item 2) last night i got into my car to leave. I entered my car, sat down and closed door, when all of a sudden i heard a noise and the rear windshield completely shattered.it was unbelievable. I had nothing against the glass and have never put any pressure on it.the glass continued to shatter into the car.

I have an 07 is250.the steering makes a scraping noise, very loud while in park and turning wheel in either direction. Sounds similar to my wife's sonogram session at doctors office. Steering is a little stiffer and slightly locks in place while driving. I took to a lexus dealership and was told that it needed a new electronic steering column assembly. $2500! really? is this connected to the steering recall back in 2009? help

While driving various speeds or while the vehicle was stopped, the power steering suddenly seized. The contact stated that the failure occurred often. Sometimes, the power steering would resume normal operation when the vehicle was turned off and restarted. On other occasions, the vehicle had to be towed home. When it was towed, it took approximately 24 hours before the power steering would return to normal. The contact called ourisman lexus of rockville (located at 15501 frederick rd, rockville, md 20855, 855-821-1390) where it was diagnosed that the ecu and the alternator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there were no recalls because there were not enough complaints regarding the failure. The manufacturer was contacted and provided case numbers: 1802260181 and 1812061696. The contact was referred to nhtsa. The approximate failure mileage was 230,000.

I have a problem of power steering today, the red light p/s appears and i found that it's hard to turn my car wheel either to left or right. I have check with a local repair shop and learn from the technician that nothing wrong with the alternator and the problem might come from the faulty crankshaft pulley. I also learn from online that toyota will inspect recalled vehicles and replace the crankshaft pulley if necessary at no charge, but my lexus dealer in westminster ca 92683 verify that the power steering recall is not for my car model. Please check the case and let me know what to do to gain the power steering recall benefit as others who have the same problem but with different car model.thanks for your time!

I lost power steering and very hard to turn the steering wheel. Ps light is came on the dash.

The steering system lock and i cannot steer the car. It says p/s on the dash panel. I have searched the internet and other consumers are having the same issues, this is very dangerous and scary. I was backingout of a parking space and the steering lost power and locked 11i could not drive my car.

November 2015:i own a 2007 is 250 with approximately 240,000 miles.i am the original owner and the car is totally stock.the electric power steering stopped working several days ago.this was upon start-up after sitting for about 90 minutes, not while driving.this car uses an electronic steering system, not the normal system which uses power steering fluid.i was unable to drive it, so the car was first towed to my house where it sat for a couple of days.thereafter, with the steering still not working, the car was towed to the dealer (meade lexus of southfield michigan).the dealer checked the car out and held if for several days.their 'repair' was to unplug the car's computer and plug it back in.now the steering works.they tell me that no further repair is necessary.this all seems very odd to me.i'm scared out of my mind to allow my kid back in the car (18 year old new driver).it was literally impossible to turn the wheel when the steering went out.there was a steering campaign several years ago (9lc), but the dealer told me that my vin is not in the range of cars needing repair.i can understand that older high mileage cars sometimes need repair, but the steering system should never fail.after reading other complaints on the nhtsa website and user forums, i understand that this problem exists with other lexus is250 and is350 vehicles.i am unsure how to proceed, because i fear that the car is unfit to drive.

The electric power steering stopped working several weeks ago, after a normal start-up and drivingfor about 20 minutes. This could have caused a fatal accident, luckily i was driving instead of my wife who usually drives this car. This car has an electronic steering system, not the normal system which uses power steering fluid. When this first occurred i was barely able to drive it back to my house where it sat for a couple of days. Thereafter, with the steering still not working, the car was taken to the dealer (tom williams lexus of birmingham, al). The dealer checked the car out and held it for several days. Their 'repair' was to replace the car's power steering ecu. They had to order the ecu and that took a few more days. They replaced the power steering ecu but the steering still did not work . They then call me and tell me that further repairs are needed. They said that the power steering rack needed to be replaced, calibrated and realigned($4500). This all seems very odd to me. Even after paying out of pocket for the repair, i'm scared out of my mind to allow my wife and kids back in that car. It was literally impossible to turn the wheel when the steering went out. There was a steering campaign several years ago (9lc), but the dealer told me that my vin is not in the range of cars needing repair. I can understand that older high mileage cars sometimes need repair, but the steering system should never fail. After reading other complaints on the nhtsa website and user forums, i understand that this problem exists with many other lexus is250 and is350 vehicles. I contacted lexus customer care and they said they would look into offering some out of warranty assistance. After several days of waiting on their response, i called lexus back and they said they decided not to offer any assistance. We own a ls460 and this is250 and now, we don't trust lexus vehicles.

Issues with dashboard melting and both driver and passenger doors.

Dash and door side panels melt and cause glare and scratch very easily.2 year old son can easily take chunks out and places in his mouth.

Dashboard is literally melting. Looks shiny and is sticky to touch. Leaves black residue on fingers and creates a dangerous glare on windshield.

I have a 2007 lexus is 250. I've had it for 7 years now and love everything about it. But about 2-3 years ago, the vinyl interior starting getting sticky. It's gotten worse that if you touch it the color comes off on your fingers. I have a big shiny area on the dashboard which reflects on the front windshield and makes visibility difficult. I know there's others here in south florida with the same issue, that have gone to lexus and have been told they have to pay to replace it, that it's not covered.

For several years dash and other rubber parts of interior are melting and forming a gummy/glue type substance that causes permanent damage to appearance and sticks to anything that touches it including damaging clothing.lexus made me pay for labor to replace dash but refused to replace door components saying it was too expensive to fix and they insisted i pay for the entire cost of replacing all 4 doors.this is ridiculous that car owners have to pay for fixing a manufacturing defect that is caused by using a rubber that degrades over time and becomes a gooey substance.

The dash board started melting during the summer.i approached lexus while i had extended warranty and they advised they were not able to do anything about it.would like to know if there is something that can be done to have this replaced.

Dashboard and doors (inside) become sticky with black greasy pieces which comes off when touched.

The dashboard and door panels of my 2007 lexus is250 contain a rubber like material that has become sticky as if it is melting away. It has become extremely fragile to the touch, leaving your finger imprint or even a chunks to come off. When driving during the day, i now have a reflection of the whole dashboard on my windshield which impairs my visions as it is almost impossible to see out without sunglasses on. This has become a major safety issue and for the price tags that come with these vehicles, we should all be getting this problem fixed before it cost people their lives.

I leased my lexus is250 back in 2007 and have since then been the only owner.since then the dash board of my car has been melting and now causes a horrible glare/reflection on my windshield creating poor visibility when driving on sunny days which is most days her in south florida.also the inside door panel material has become very soft to touch and seems to be melting also.after discussing this with lexus they offered me to go 50/50 on the repairs to have these problems corrected which means hundreds of dollars out of my pocket for a repair that is due to poor materials.my main concern however is them doing something about the dashboard because have a blind spot on a windshield is a very unsafe condition for any driver.

The vehicle dashboard and doors materials are melted/sticky/glossy, cannot be touched or even clean, my main concern is the airbag.

My 2007 is250 lexus dash board rattle due to poor insulation. Due to dash being taken apart several times now car turns on 3 times by it self nav systems went out and since dash board is not set properly front windows fog up.

The contact owns a 2007 lexus is250. The contact stated that the dashboard was melting. The glare from the dashboard obstructed the contact's view when driving in sunny conditions. The dealer had never before seen that type of failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 110,000.

The contact owns a 2007 lexus is250. While driving approximately 70 mph on normal road conditions the driver observed a hump extruded from the console which interfered with the leg movement to access the brake and accelerator pedal.the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for inspection. The technician stated the problem addressed was a manufacturer design issue.the failure mileage was 25,000. The current mileage was 31,000. Updated 05/17/10.

Material on my dash appears to be sticky, possibly due to hot weather, and can cause a significant amount of light reflection producing glare on the windshield. Depending on the sun's relative direction to the car, it can hinder visibility to where driving during the daytime is not feasible.

My lexus is 250 has a melting and sticky dashboard as well as all four door sides and its handle bars. Every time i touch on the dashboard due to the top of the driver's wheel being so close, i had it on my fingertip being sticky and i have to wipe it off but still left some black mark on my finger. Also everytime i put the windshield cover to protect the heat from going inside, it placed some marks on the dashboard. It has been so bad to smell toxic chemicals coming from the dashboard while i'm in the car driving. Need to say more ?i am afraid it may give me an illness in the future from smelling it into my lungs.can't we have a recall from lexus and do something about it real quickly ?it would be real nice to replace the old dashboard and sides with a best qualified standard with the materials that is safe that won't hurt the customer and won't damage from the sun from melting again.i see lexus changed the dashboard material to some kind of leather or thick leather that won't melt.i paid alot of money for my car and i'm real disappointedabout the quality of the interior of the car i pay for.i had an old car honda civic for a long time and i never experienced a similar problem with a dashboard.very good qualities in the interior in the honda civic back the 1980s.now 2005 to 2007 lexus used a cheaper kind of material on the dashboard ?? we customers paid alot of hard money earned for this car we love.thank you.

Dashboard melting and door side panel melting. The melting of dashboard and side door panels causes a shiny reflection onto windshield.the glare from the reflection caused the driver difficulty in seeing and led to accident.

The contact owns a 2007 lexus is200. The contact stated that while driving the vehicle in sunlight, the dashboard melted. The contact stated that the failure resulted in the dashboard having a shiny, causing the sunlight to be reflected which blocked the contact's eyesight. Lexus of roseville (300 automall dr, roseville, ca 95661, 916-783-9111) was contacted and informed of the failure. The contact was informed that the warranty expired on the vehicle. The dashboard was previously covered however, the contact was not informed of the covered repair on prior maintenance visits. The manufacturer was contacted and informed of the failure. The contact was informed that two letters regarding the melting dashboard was mailed to the contact. The contact stated that the letters were not received. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 125,000.

Purchased the 2007 lexus is 250 used in march, 2014.within a couple of weeks, noticed the dashboard and interior door panels get very shiny and sticky (i.e. Melting) when it is hot outside and the interior car temperature rises.

My dashboard and doors have been melting increasingly over the past year from the florida heat/humidity. The dashboard is coming apart and is sticky. My vision is greatly impacted by the glare on the window that occurs from the sticky dashboard . I am highly fearful of an accident. My doors are so sticky that my clothes are constantly ruined. I contacted lexus and they only offered $500 as a courtesy, since i am out of "warranty". Lexus quoted me $3300 to fix the problem. I have seen the news with many others with similar problems and no assistance has been offered, placing mine and others lives at risk.

Dashboard is extremely sticky and appears to be melting.

I have a 2007 lexus is250 in which the dashboard and side door molding are melting causing the rubber to come off the dashboard. There has been numerous complaints from lexus owners that they are having the same issue. Investigator reporter for channel 6 in miami has file a complaint agains toyota and lexus to make this a mandatory recall to fix this items, toyota is aware but they do not want to replace the dashboards unless we pay $900.00 for the repairs. If they know there is an issue they need to fix it instead of charging the consumer for there mistake.

I notice my car dashboard has been melting for about 2-3 years now, it is now creating a obstruction while driving in the daytime because it causes a glare on the windshield. It's literally a sticky mess, the dye in the dashboard if touched transfers on the fabric in car. I brought it to the attention of the dealership, the only i option have is to change the entire dashboard at my cost. Through my research there are many cars on the road with this issue. I appreciate your attention in this very serious matter.

The dash and door sills on the car are melting and sticky.you can not get in and out of the car without leaving gouges in the interior.hands stick to everything and the problem only gets worse.the car is becoming unusable and is defective.

Approximately 3 years after purchasing this vehicle, the dashboard and the doors started to get very sticky.when i inquire about this with the dealer in march of 2012 i was told there was nothing they could do, that ineeded to have it replaced at my own cost.the problem continues to get worse as the dashboard/doors are melting and are also cracking.

The dashboard is sticky, chipping and melting resulting in a blinding glare on the driver side wind shield. The glare reduces and hinders visibility and it has become a safety concern and hazard. The dash and door panel are so soft that anytime i bump it with my nail or ring, a chunk of the dash comes out. This melting is a potential hazard for the function of the air bags.

Over a few years the dashboard of my car had drastically become sticky and shiny.anytime the car is valeted or required to show a temporary parking tag the paper sticks or anything that touches it sticks.also, while driving it creates a terrible glare on the windshield, causing it hard to see out the window.

The dashboard is melting in the area toward the front, closest to the windshield glass. This seems to be as a result of the dash material reacting to heat. In the areas where this occurs, the surface of the dash is very shiny and sticky, and there is considerable glare from the dash when driving in full sunlight. In addition, there are noxious fumes emitted from the dash. This is especially noticeable after the car has heated up after being parked in the sun.

A few months after i purchased this car back in 2011, i started to notice that the dashboard and front door panels started to deteriorate; literally looked like they were melting. It feels very sticky, it gets scratched easily from the slightest touch, but the main thing is the dash, it looks so shiny it creates a horrible glare that reflects on the windshield and makes the visibility very difficult and it just gets worse and worse with time. I have complained several times with the dealership, they say they will only cover the repair partially but still the amount that would come out of my pocket is significantly high. According to what i have researched, lexus released a service bulletin about this issue with the sticky/shiny dash and door panels. However, the extended warranty on my car would not cover the repair/replacement of the parts. I just hope they are aware that this goes beyond of being only a "cosmetic" problem, because just the glare on the windshield itself can become a significant driving hazard.

I started noticing that my dashboard and all four door panels are melting and its very sticky. While driving the glare gets really bad reflecting onto the windshield that its hard to see. I can't lean my arm on my door because its really sticky and it leaves a film on my arm. My dashboard is also cracking due to this melting. I have not noticed a recall on it but i have spoke to others that this is happening to and also seeing the same online with other lexus/toyota owners.

The dashboard and side doors are sticky, shiny and melting. When glare hits it is very hard to see because of the sun hitting the dashboard. On the doors pieces are coming off since the material seems very soft.

Dashboard of the car has melted, specifically right in front of the driver position.the size of the melting/shiny reflective area is round and like 9 inches wide.the reflection of the shiny melting rubber from the dash affects having a clear visibility of the road.this is a safety hazard and not acceptable for a relatively new vehicle.this happened for the first time over two years ago, but it just keep getting worse, the car is driven by my pregnant wife.

The dashboard is melting and when the sun shines it reflects on the windshield compromising my visibility causing me to almost get into a car accident.the door panels are also melting.i cannot continue to drive in danger. I have attempted to get resolution from lexus but have not been successful for years. This issue with the dashboard is dangerous.i have been waiting for too long for lexus to help me out but with no success.

The contact owns a 2007 lexus is 250. The contact stated that the dashboard melted. The failure created a glare on the windshield that impaired the contact's visibility while driving in the daytime. The dealer stated that the dashboard needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 85,000.

I own a 2007 lexus is250 and the interior is melting.the dashboard has a glossy, sticky residue that has made driving during the day in sunny conditions impossible.the residue causes a glare that hinders my ability to see while driving.so much so that i almost missed a stop sign!the door panels are melting to the point that if you touch them the material sticks to your hands and clothing or just falls off and when i get it on my hands it causes a rash.i've contacted lexus and submitted a request to have these parts replaced and i was quickly denied.i'm reporting this issue to you today because this is my only vehicle and i have no choice but to drive it and i wanted to document my concerns in case something were to happen.thank you for your time.have a great day!

The dash is melting. And the door panels are releasing black tar like materials.

The dashboard over the instrument panel and the front and rear side door panels are melting, cracking and deteriorating which causes dents in the material to the touch. All of the material is discolored and sticky or melting. This needs to be replaced immediately and a recall needs to be dictated by the nhtsa asap. Lexus notified me of the problem almost a year ago, and when i called they told me it would take another 9 to 10 months before they could replace the dashboard and side door panels. So, it would be over a 1 or more years since the original lexus notice that they maybe can fix the problem. This is unacceptable and this is why the nhtsa needs to demand lexus initiates a official recall for the affected vehicles with the melting dashboard and side door panel issues

Takata recallairbag did not inflate when hitting a brick wall head on. My car was in motion and was hit on the rear passenger side of the vehicle and fish tailed head on into wall and i sustained injuries.

The contact owns a 2007 lexus is 250. The contact stated that the dashboard panel melted and contained a sticky texture. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer and manufacturer were not notified. The failure mileage was 121,000.

I purchased a brand new 2007 lexus is 250 from park place lexus in grapevine, tx. About two years ago, the dashboard panel started to get very soft and gummy during hot days. Small pieces of the dashboard panel came off easily. Ever since, the dashboard panel has been getting sticky and melting. The melting dashboard panel causes a glare reflection on the windshield that prevents the driver from being able to see road clearly while driving. It's a dangerous situation. Lexus has refused to replace the defective dashboard panel even though they're fully aware of the issue.

The car makes a lot of creaking noises and has been tried to be fixed several times and never gets the problem solved. Now car creaks and rattles at 10 mph. Sound coming from the a-pillar and warranty does not cover.

7/11/16 seminole, florida the dashboard over the instrument panel and the front and rear side door panels are melting, cracking and deteriorating which causes dents in the material to the touch. Lexus is a luxury car and this is not normal.this needs to be replaced immediately and a recall needs to be dictated by the nhts asap. *"takata recall" life threatening airbag defect in lexus is 250 but no plans to fix it* faulty dashboard, side panels interior completely melting - lexus promised to fix but its been years not fixed on lexis is 250

My dash panel and door panel's are melding and sticky

The contact owns a 2007 lexus is 250. The contact stated that the dashboard was melting and the glare from the dashboard affected her visibility while driving various speeds. The contact spoke with tom wood lexus (4610 e 96th st, indianapolis, in 46240, (317) 580-6888) and was informed that there was a limited time warranty to have the vehicle serviced. The contact was informed that she missed the deadline for the repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided the same information as the dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

The dash and upper door panels started to get soft, sticky and started to melt with touch.

Interior doors are melting and dashboard

Approximately 2 years ago my entire dash board and side panels started to melt.i have contacted lexus and they continue to say they are waiting on the manufacturer for parts.i live in marrero louisiana with extremely high humidity and temperatures.this has been a safety hazard.when the sun hits my windshield, the glare from hitting the melted dash completely blinds me.i have to lean to the right side just to see out of my windshield.it is melted to the point of it being untouchable without getting sticky glue on your hands.anything that rubs against the side door panels creates grooves and marks because it's like clay.now theres a recall with the takata inflators in the front passenger airbag which really concerns me because its affected by high temperatures and humidity causes degrading of the part.since my dash board is completely melted to the consistency of hot glue, i can't imagine that helps with my airbag situation either.i have been contacting lexus for the past 2 years with no luck.if i should have an accident due to the dash glare, i will expect to have the production company held accountable.any help you can offer with getting this message across to anyone at this point would be greatly appreciated.thanks.

Tl- the contact owns a 2007 lexus is 250. The contact stated that he went to reach for the steering wheel, his hand slipped off of the steering wheel and he ended up scratching the dashboard and the material became damaged. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection and they stated that the dashboard needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 85,000. Ap

I cant see im blinded by the dash board its melting the clare from the sun is blinding on the dash melted plastic

Melted interior, sticky and easily breakable dashboarddue to heat and humidity, cracked interior

Melting dash - i have the lexus "melting dash" problem on my is250 and have waited for 1 1/2 years, with no resolution. My local dealership says they have not received any dashes for over 6 months and have no idea when they might arrive. My dash has melted into a slick blob and that become a significant safety hazard. When driving during the day, the sun reflects on this melted surface and blinds the driver. I have notified cerritos lexus and lexus corporate of this safety issue. Forcing customers to drive unsafe vehicles with no expectation of when a solution is available is unacceptable.this should be listed as a recall due to the driver/passenger safety concerns.what am i supposed to do?i'm telling my wife not to drive unless it's an emergency.

I am waiting on the front and rear interior door panels recalls for cracked and melted as result of heat or humidity.

For several years now my dashboard has been very sticky in the daytime which causes a very bright reflection / glare. The side door panels also are like deteriorating and easily scratch and peel off. The vehicle is very sticky and leaves a black / dirty mark on your hand if touched.

The door panels from front and passenger side are melting very bad. If i stick my nail by mistake, nail goes through and i get the sticky black rubbery material in nail. I pay too much for the car and lexus only replace the dash board because it was also melting.

The contact owns a 2007 lexus is 250. The contact stated that the dashboard was sticky which created a glare on the windshield while driving. The contact was concerned for her safety due to the glare impairing her vision of the roadway. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 183,000.

The transmission slips on reverse. It does not traverse unless i driven 30 minutes and going 40 amd higher, the rpms start at 4k then 5k amd keeps getting higher. The engines wants to stall from time to time. The suspension is hard, even after changing the shocks

Dashboard and door material melt/are melting. If the car is not in the garage the dashboard/door material will be sticky to the touch. Dashboard area has melted and reflects on the mirror as a glare. Issue continues to get worse over time and the lining of the doors is peeling. This affects the doors which have the same material as the dashboard.

The dash is melting. And the door panels are releasing black tar like materials.

Dash has started to get stickey and shiney which reflects off the windshield making it impossible to see the road in front of the automobile , this is especially dangerious in sunlight or bright streetlight this condition has progressively worse over time!

Lexus is 250 dashboard is melting. Very sticky substance, bright sun and headlights cause dangerous glare on windshield.compromises the effectiveness of the airbags in the case that they would need to deploy. Lexus refuses to fix the issue as well as toyota. The melting dash also emits a odor when in the direct sunlight and actively melting, that gives a headache. The "safeness" of my vehicle is now extremely compromised as well as the value.

It's slimy and sticky and so when you're driving in the sun on the highway or city streets, it creates a glare on your dashboard making it unsafe.the stickiness on the door panels gets caught up in my nails.

The frontdashboardis melting from the sun also the door handles are breaking in pieces.its there a re-call on this particular situation.also the dashboard and the doors are very sticky.

Written description is in letter form attached to complaint.

The dashboard has a sticky film. It also has become reflective resulting in difficulty seeing out of the windshield thus making driving dangerous in bright, sunny weather. It has been this way for a couple of years, but recently, the dash has become more reflective.

Takata recall , sticky dash board and door panelsthe sticky dashboard is causing lots of glare that is a safety concern and fumes

I purchased my 2007 lexus is 250 in 2010.over the last year the dashboard has melted to the point to where it is untouchable and obstructs the vision in my view from the sun glaring against the melted dash.my door are also soft and crumble to the touch of fingernails, keys, rubbing of any kind.i have contacted lexus and was told i will be put on the list for recall but they cannot give me a time frame of when the recall will take place.when i drive, i can barely see the the glare it causes in my view of the windshield so it is very dangerous at this point.it is also impossible to clean, towels and paper towels will stick to the dash into the gluey substance.

I own a 2007 lexus is 250,i took it to the shop early last year for some repairs and i inquired about the cracked and/or sticky/melting dashboard and front and rear interiordoor panel , was suppose to be added to the list for repairs, which is a safet hazard because the melting of the dashboard create a glare which make it difficult to see. Spoke with dealership to see if i was added to the list. I have even spoke with the lexus corp.i received an initial letter pertaining to the problem which stated that anothernotification letter would be sent out once sufficient parts have been prepared and obtained for replacement due to this cosmetic condition. Never did get the second letter and now i'm being told that all repairs habe been completed, mean while i'm riding in a lexus that if i touched the door it dissolves.

My dashboard is melting. It's melting so bad this is safety issue in my opinion. When sun is shining outside around noon, reflection from melted dashboard is so bad on windshield, you can't even see it. If this leads to an accident, i'll surely sue lexus for this.

My vehicle is one of the models affected by the sticky 'melting' dashboard issue made known to the public a few years ago. When driving during the day, sunlight creates a blinding reflection onto the windshield'making it impossible to see what's in front of you. This problem almost resulted in an auto accident for me two weeks ago while driving through an intersection.

On july 6th 2017 at about 4:15 pm i was heading to work.after about 500 feet.before entering a three way intersection, i released the gas pedal to stop acceleratingand cruise to prepare to brake in order to make the left turn.but suddenly the gas pedal accelerated by itself and caused my car to keep accelerating straight towards the side walk intersecting with my direction. I turned my wheel left and braked hard even activating the anti braking system. I also had to use the emergency brake to assist in stopping the car. It took about 150 feet after the left turn before i fully stopped. Even after stopping i was was not able to turn off the engine immediately.i kept pressing on the push start button for a few minutes before the engine finally turned off. The incident reminded me about the gas pedal lock up situation years ago with toyota.after calming down from the fear and shaking i tried to turn on the engine to see if it would operate normally.after verifying that everything was back to normally.i cautiously and carefully drove it back to my house.i did not use the car for a week and then had it towed to lexus dealership for inspection.the inspection took one week.they said that they could not find anything wrong with the car.they also test drove the car for less than 10 miles.i was not satisfied with the answer so i contacted lexus headquarters again to request a third party inspection.they refused because the car was not involved in an accident with another car.they also advised me to keep driving the car because they said they put a lot of trust in their auto-mechanics.however after all this i still have a lot of fear to drive the car but i don't have any other choice.now i only use this car to go to work and have to always be extremely cautious when driving it due to fear of this incident repeating itself.

Takata recall, melting interiors, kids are getting these melting dashboard on there little fingers. Not only the dashboard but the door panels too they opening the doors. I live in florida and the sun out here could be very hot for these interiors.

The dashboard on the car is melted. The melted surface reflects the sunlight and causes a glare directly into the driver's eyes while driving. The effects of melted rubber on the air inside the cabin is unknown, but worrisome.

I cant see im blinded by the dash board its melting the clare from the sun is blinding on the dash melted plastic

Sticky dash and door panels.glare from the dash is dangerous.

Camshaft gear gone bad at only 85,000and lexus is aware of anddoes nothing to do a recall. This is a 3000,00 fix.

Defective lcd/touch screen. While driving in the rain, the touchscreen digitizer failed on my car. The windows started to fog up and i realizedsince the touchscreen failed, i had no way to defog my windshield and other windows. Because i am only able to access the fan controls for both heat and ac, via the touchscreen. So i had to pull over on the sparse emergency pullovers on i66-va several times to manually wipe my windows so i could see. This happened at the worst time because it was during rush-hour, in a downpour. This created a very dangerous situation for me and other drivers as visibility was poor during the downpour. I have researched this on several lexus/toyota sites and the wiring of lcd/touchscreen digitizer appears to be a common defect and fails regularly. I am surprised that such a life - safety feature would be dependant on a failure prone system.

Hi i have a 07 is250 sedan the front dash get really sticky during the summer when you park your car out side in the sun. During the winter or raining season its dry and peels. My problem is when hot the dashboard get sticky like glue

I have an is 250 lexus, 2007. I purchased the car on october of 2006. Since my purchase, the car jumped back and forwards when the air conditioner was started and sometimes it shake when i stopped on a red light or a stop signal. I have complained about this issue many times but the dealer said that the computer do not detects the problem. Last month (july 22, 2010), i was driving my car on the highway and it unexpectedly decelerates and began to shake. I was unable to drive faster than certain miles. Also, the vsc light came on. My car has been in the dealer for a month right now and they do not have a final and conclusive diagnosis of what caused the incident and how to fix it. Further, i know other persons who this problem was occurred twice, so i expect it to occur again. Momentarily, they indicated that the problem was caused because of an accumulation of coal in the valves but they are still making tests to the car. The people from toyota have not been available to speak with me although i have requested so, and i have met in many occasions with dealer's representatives (they have indicated that they do not have to speak with me). I understand that the fact that the vehicle unexpectedly decelerates while in the highway is a major safety problem that should be taken care of by toyota. I may have caused an accident because of the unexpected speed problem. This car is not safety and something must be done. Moreover, when toyota is hiding it's responsibility.

2007 lexus is250.traveling at 55 mph on hwy, hit cruise, car suddenly accelerated to nearly 105 mph by itself. Brakes unresponsive. Did not respond to putting in neutral. Had to place in park.lexus blames on floormat interference. Driver disagrees. Cruise would not turn off. 911 called, advised to drive into field. 2nd time this happened since purchasing car in mar 2009. Although car under warranty, lexus refuses to pay.insurance adjuster sent to dealership to inspect.waiting on results.consumer is adding photos.7/29/09 *njreceived phote. Updated 08/05/09.

I was normally driving on the road and on good weather conditions.my car accelerator pedal got stuck. The car accelerated very fast and was rapidly approaching a red light.i quickly reacted and was able to pull back the accelerator with my shoes and hand.

I was driving to the gym at 5:30 am on july 3, 2008 in my lexus is 250.i pressed on the accelerator after a light turned green and the car took off, speeding faster and faster.i tried using the brakes and that didn't help.i engaged the emergency brake and that didn't work. My car continued to go faster and faster.i was scared to death and didn't know what else to do.thankfully there was very little traffic due to the time of day. I pressed the electronic ignition button and that didn't work.i was preparing jump out of the car that was now speeding at about 60mph or so when i thought to put the car in park.that finally stopped the car.i jumped out of the car and a pedestrian lent me his cell phone to call my husband.the car was in the middle of the street "bucking" ( the engine was still revving and the car was in park - still running) for about 10 minutes until my husband arrived.he opened the door, checked the mat - it was not on the accelerator pedal.he turned off the car and we called lexus to have them come tow the car to the dealership.the dealership (lexus of watertown, ma) checked the car and told me there was nothing the matter with it. That i was the problem, that the mat was on the accelerator.this was not true. Both my husband and i saw the mat was not on the accelerator.they completely dismissed the entire event.i almostdied driving their car and they blamed me (all the time knowing about the problem).

Accelerator recall on lexus and toyota. I received a notice undated last year on both of my vehicles 2007 lexus is-250 and 2007 toyota camry and we haven't received to the recall letter to have it repaired. This letter states thatthey don't have a remedy for it yet.

Car unexpectedly decelerates, engine shakes and "check engine and vsc lights" come on. After a short rest the car would start and the problem would repeatedly re-occur until i arrived home. Lexus service has not been able to fix the problem and i do not feel safe driving the car.

I purchased a 2007 lexus is250 about a month ago from carmax. I was driving at approx 30mph when a cat entered the roadway. I tried to slam on the brakes but the car accelerated instead and quickly gained speed. I don't know how fast i was going when i was able to step on the brake enough for it to stop. Carmax tells me its not their problem, even though they sold me a car that was already recalled. And lexus says that they don't have the part for it but will put me on a waiting list.so, i either gamble with my life and drive the car anyway, or i'm stuck without a vehicle at all. I'm furious!

I own a lexus is250, i pushed down on the gas pedal and it got stuck. I rammed into a car and hit it twice before the car would stop. I hit the car on the sensory going 35 miles per hour and my air bags didn't deploy.updated 01/08/15*ljupdated 01/14/15.

Accelerator on 2007 lexus is 250 stuck while driving on the highway at 85 mph. I had accelerated hard to come up to highway speed. Brakes would not slow vehicle down. Wove in and out of highway traffic and called 911. Frantically moved shift lever and moved paddles on steering column.car eventually seemed to downshift and slowed. Happened once.took vehicle to lexus dealer that day. New floor mat and clips were installed that day.

I have a lexus is 250 which experienced unintended acceleration. I have brought it to my dealer who found no defects and had no repairs for the known problem.

Wife's 2007 lexus is 250 experienced sudden acceleration on the northbound 405 freeway in long beach california. After she accelerated onto the freeway she entered the fast lane and eased up on the gas pedal but the car continued to accelerate out of control with her foot completely off the gas pedal.she began pressing on the brake pedal in an effort to stop the vehicle, all the while the car was trying to accelerate.luckily she was able to maintain control and moved over to the right lane, then onto the shoulder of the highway.she threw the auto transmission lever into neutral.she was then able to bring the car to a stop, even while the engine was racing at high rpm.she turned off the ignition and the engine stopped.we had the car flat-bedded to south bay lexus in torrance, california where they gave her a loaner for the weekend and promised to have one of their mechanics drive the car over the weekend to see if they could 'repeat' the problem. On monday they called me and told me that they could not find anything wrong with it, telling me that more than likely the floor mat had gotten pushed up into the gas pedal mechanism.this is impossible if you look at the angle of the floor above the mats where the gas pedal is. My wife insists the mat was nowhere near the gas pedal.the dealer put a grand total of only 24 miles on the vehicle in the three days that they had it. Over the weekend my wife and i did some online research and surprisingly found a number of other people who have experienced the same problem. We traded the vehicle in on monday, the same day we got it back from lexus.my wife refused to drive it again. Now, we just found out that on august 28th, three weeks after our experience, california highway patrol officer mark saylor and three of his family members were killed when the lexus es 350 they were driving suddenly accelerated.lexus is again blaming it on the floor mat.

"check vsc" engine light come on. Car decelerates while driving on highway.it started to shakewhen i stopped.unable to drive faster than 40mph on highway.lexus unable to fixed it.this is a velocity hazard on the road.

Engine light comes on and the car stalls or cuts off. The vsc light and traction light is on also. There's a burning smell that happens often. In addition my acceleration pedal causes me issues also which has put a whole in mat by getting stuck from time to time.

Car suddenly began accelerating by itself, would not slow down, brakes would not work, tach red-lined, reached speed of 110 mph.pushed kill switch for 3 seconds to cut car off. The consumer stated he put the carpeted mats underneath the all weather mats to see if it was possible to cause the accelerator to hang. He stated he was un able to get it ton hang under the floor mat, no matter how he positioned the mat with his hands. The all weather mat is thick, but the part of the mat that would be able to hang theaccelerator is not strong enough to hold the pedal down. He held the pedal down and tried to place the mat over it, but no matter he positioned it, the mat would not hold down the pedal, the mat was too flimsy to hold it.according to the dealer they observed the all weather mats on top of the regular floor mats, which they stated could obstructed the accelerator pedal.the dealer re-installed the drivers side all weather mat in tether hooks.updated 11/17/09

I wasdriving my lexus is 250 awd(2007) at 30 mph on route 27 in montgomery county ,mdat 7 am on august 14, 2007. My gas pedalbecame stuck and i crashed into a tree. My car is totaled and i sustained neck and back injuries. The consumer learned there was a recall regarding the defect. Updated 10/09/07.

Lexus is 250 manual transmission has so much vibration in rear view mirror, makes it nearly impossible to view out of at night. Lexus has attempted to fix this issue from the 2nd month i owned the vehicle and it still vibrates. Apparently lexus had some sort of kit to reduce the vibration for is 250's that had excessive vibration in the mirror, however that did not relieve the vibration at all.all other lexus loaner vehicles i have borrowed do not have this issue.i filed a report with " national dispute settlement ", since the meeting was during the day, the investigators could not see the excessive vibration that occurred while driving the vehicle at night and basically said the vibration was normal and due to road to conditions.

The contact owns a 2007 lexus is250. The contact stated that the passenger side headlight would flicker on and off before finally failing altogether. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who performed a diagnostic that located the failure at the bulb. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 51,000 and the current mileage was 54,000. The vin was not available.

Material on my dash appears to be sticky, possibly due to hot weather, and can cause a significant amount of light reflection producing glare on the windshield. Depending on the sun's relative direction to the car, it can hinder visibility to where driving during the daytime is not feasible.

Dashboard is literally melting. Looks shiny and is sticky to touch. Leaves black residue on fingers and creates a dangerous glare on windshield.

Rearview mirror on all lexus models shows black "tiger" marks across the mirror causing a potential safety issue.have asked lexus to fix and said no.they know it's a known issue.

I lost power steering and very hard to turn the steering wheel. Ps light is came on the dash.

The rear view mirror has black lines on it, which indicates the coating behind the mirror is deteriorating in some way. I looked up the issue now and realized this is a more widespread issue. Some customers online have indicated it's hard to see anything using the rear view camera, thou my rear view has not go to that point.

Dash has started to get stickey and shiney which reflects off the windshield making it impossible to see the road in front of the automobile , this is especially dangerious in sunlight or bright streetlight this condition has progressively worse over time!

I cant see im blinded by the dash board its melting the clare from the sun is blinding on the dash melted plastic

My dash has been melting for several months now, it doesn't matter if i use something to block out the sun. Not only is the dash melting, it is breaking off in chunks in certain areas. When you touch it, it is sticky and leaves a print of whatever touched it. I am not able to clean it and it leaves a bad glare from the sun when you are driving. This isn't the first case i have read about this - what is going to be done, if anything.

Lexus is250 wheel rims leak air and could cause a injury.

Written description is in letter form attached to complaint.
