Takata recall:it has been over six months since i was first notified about the recall of the airbags and nothing has been done to remedy the situation.

We had our lexus smogged and the airbag light was on when we picked it up.we took it to the lexus dealer and they said it is the wiring harness.$3500 to repair.this is not a component that is supposed to fail, so lexus should be responsible for the fix.

Takata recall - we are in zone a .received recall notice advising no person should sit in passenger seat due to risk of injury or death.. Contacted dealer and lexus (ca) told the "fix" will likely not be available until early 2017. Would like to sell the car.. But can't sell until airbag defect is repaired; we are unable to use the car until the defect is repaired...

Airbag indicator on dash randomly comes on then goes off. This has been happening since 2009. The cause is a defective wiring harness from the manufacturer effecting 2006 to 2008 vehicles, which when in a failed state disables the airbag system entirely.

Takata recall. I am unable to consciously allow anyone to ride in the passenger seat due to the fear of injury from a deployed airbag. I therefore will only allow passengers in the rear seats.

Safety riskin the event of an infiltrator rupture metalresult in serious injury or death

The contact owned a 2006 lexus is 250. While driving approximately 40 mph, another vehicle attempted to make a left turn without stopping. As a result, the contact's vehicle crashed into the passenger side of that other vehicle. The contact stated that all the air bags deployed. A police report was filed. The driver sustained minor injuries that required medical attention. The vehicle was towed and deemed destroyed by the insurance company. The failure mileage was 130,000.

I drove my car to work with no abnormal lights on the dash.after working 7 hours i returned to my car and started it after a few seconds i looked up to notice the airbag light was illuminated. I turned the car off waited a few seconds and started it again and the light is still on.i have read that this is a common issue with the airbag wiring harness and can cost up to $3500 to repair.

Airbag indicator on dash randomly comes on then goes off.this happened again most recently on 10-20-15.apparently this is due to a defective wiring harness from the manufacturer effecting 2006 to 2008 vehicles, which when in a failed state disables the airbag system entirely......updated 12/07/15 contact noticed airbag light would intermittently illuminate on the instrument panel for the last 5 yrs or so. Air bag light is on and does not go off...at the time of this message, the car has 51000 miles.dealer said that the problem is in design of the harness and wants $3500 to fix it.it is 10% of what i paid for the car and toyota has to fix this issue because it affects air bag deployment in case of emergency.

Wire harness instrument not working (airbag light on)

Vehicle (2006 lexus is250 w. 62,000 miles) with an illuminated airbag light due to a faulty wiring harness.this is a known problem that lexus acknowledges but refuse to fix without charging (out of warranty) owners over $3,500. There is even a technical service bulletin ("tsb") issued for this problem, the tsb number is l-sb-0167-08. This is an outrageous expense and a recall should have been issued. This directly compromises the safety of the drive, passengers and other parties in the even of an accident.

I have a 2006 lexus when i checked the vin it shows a recall for the air bag but online also shows if the car is 10 years older the repairs will have to be made by the owner meaning i have to pay for it. .this is a safety issue another thing i notice is the interior door panel is sweating something and gets hazy and wet looking when my nail hits itit leaves a mark.i normally have kids in the car the air bags is a big problem if not fixed soon and it hits 2017 i will have to pay for repairs..the recall was sometime this year please see the attachment if not fixed i would have to trade it in for safety

I have contacted my local lexus dealership and cannot get any help with the takata recall, door panel recalls, and any other recall issue.i have been trying for the last year and half.

Takata recall. My light airbag light is turned on and will not go away from dashboard. The door paneling is falling apart just by normal use.

A electrical short on a airbag wiring harness leads to airbag light on.the harness is short in length which over time shorts out leading to complete airbag failure.

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2006 lexus is 250. The contact stated that the air bag warning indicator illuminated, which was a safety concern. Lexus of albuquerque new mexico (4821 pan american fwy, albuquerque, nm 87109, (505) 341-1600) stated that the vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 16v340000 (air bags), but the warning indicator was not related to the takata recall. The dealer stated that the failure was caused by the wiring harness to the air bag sensor, which would cost approximately $3,000 to repair. The manufacturer was contacted and case number: 1808280653 was filed. The contact was promised a call back within 24 hours from a case manager. The failure mileage was 176,000.

I noticed my airbag light was on while driving. Restarting the car seemed to solve the issue at first, days went by and i never saw the light again. Few days later light was on again. I had to restart the car 4 times before it went off. So i took it to the dealer and asked to have a look at it. They told me that the wire harness was bad and they are aware of this issue is lexus is models. They have a tsb l-sb-0167-08 assigned to this. The solution to fix this is to replace the whole harness which will cost upwards of $3500 and apparently this is caused due to the restraint on the harness and it automatically disables the deployment of the airbags. This is a major safety issue which should be addressed by lexus corporate and a safety recall should be applicable to this hazard. This is not regular wear and tear and requires immediate attention to all lexus is model vehicle owners.

The harness in the dash is faulty, airbag light has been on for years

Is 250 dash has melted and creates harsh glare and reflects into the windshield blocking the view out the front (see the attached picture in which the gooey surface of the dash is blocking the view of other vehicles on the road) when driving east or west towards the sun making it dangerous to drive.the problem is worst on hot days when the dash becomes more tacky, gooey, and reflective.the dash also seems to off gas and create a haze that builds on the windshield.toyota is replacing some off the dashes and interiors through a "warranty enhancement" but will not replace mine because the vehicle has been in a wreck, had an insurance claim, and been repaired.this voids their "enhancement".the issue is present on many lexus vehicles, though and can be a hazard.they will not fix my vehicle because this issue is not yet a recall.i am worried about not being able to see out of the vehicle well.

The contact owns a 2006 lexus is 250. Thecontact stated that the air bag light illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the technician diagnosed that the air bag sensor needed to be replaced on the driver's side. No repairs were made to the vehicle. The manufacture was made aware of the failure. The failure and current mileage was 75,000. Updated 06/30/14 mathe consumer stated the manufacturer refused to assist with any repairs because there was previous assistance with an unrelated defect with the navigation and due to the mileage. Takata recall. The car has been sent to check since last year for instability when driven and the air bag light on.dealer told that a code b1861 showed, system was resettled by dealer and the code didn't duplicate for diagnostic.i was never informed that there was a dangerous problem with the air bags.air bags were not changed (5/21/2016).car was sent to dealer a couple of times for electrical problem caused when the front of the car was updated to 2012 front. Lights stopped working and one of the fog lights broke (exploded). The dealer doing the job sent the car to the lexus dealer again. Supposedly, they fixed the electrical problem.my car continued with problems of the dash getting melted.they changed it finally, but it was happening again this year.i took the car to the dealer to fix that and they told me that it had a recall for the air bags.i said to the job since they were working with the doors and dash already.the light of air bags continue to be on after they work with the car.the dealer said the code b1861 came out again, but they insist to charge me 2, 900.00 dollars for the job arguing that even though the car presents the same code again, what is damaged has nothing to do with the air bag and it is the wiring of the electric panel.i am concern and my car had no problems with lights on the dash about air bags before the service of the car was done (5/31/2017). The car was running well.

Takata recall - airbag light has been on. They replaced recalled inflator. Light is still on. Dealer now says it's a wiring harness. About $2500 to replace. After researching on internet, many people are having same problem. A technical service bulletin ya been issued to the dealers and covered by warranty to 72 months or 70,000 miles. My car has 88,200 miles. Most people that solved the problem in their own have said this is connection issue from the harness connectors to the igniters. They are vibrating loose. I am disappointed lexus doesn't offer more support on this issue as it's severely hazardous for many in this situation. If it's a connection issue, it's ridiculous dealers are charging thousands of dollars to fix an entire harness. Can anything be done?

My 2006 lexus is 250 awd was at a local dealership for additional recall work, and other maintenance. When i picked up the car, the airbag light was on. Note: they confirmed it was not on upon initial inspection. I never left the lot and was put in another car. The dealer determined that there was a short in the airbag wiring harness, and they claimed they did not do it. They directed me to lexus corporate.upon inspection and my own investigation, i determined that lexus was aware of the airbags not working in 2008 when a lexus service information bulletin was issued on 12/11/2008 (l-sb-0167-08) for the supplemental restraint systems stating that this was a problem in the 2006 - 2008 is250 and is350, and the issue was poor wiring insulation that would come unraveled under the dash. "r&r instrument panel wire harness" the exposed wire would then ground out on the frame, and the airbags and seat belts would be inoperable in the event of a collision."some 2006-2008 my is250/350 vehicles may exhibit a srs light "on" condition with dtc b1861," lexus did not issue a recall, as they claim they did not have enough customer complaints, and covered it under the lexus restraint system warranty for 72 months or 70,000 miles, and only if brought to their attention by the owner of the car. "warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's specific complaint" as this was not made public, we had no idea this was a safety issue and obvious defect. My car is now outside this warranty period, and lexus wants us to pay 1/2 of the $3,000 repair order for a known safety and defect issue. Lexus corporate agreed to repair the harness at no cost. Updated 12/23/15.

Description of the problem: lexus is has an ongoing safety problem related to its airbag mechanism, the wiring harness to be specific- code 1861, which is indicated by an airbag warning that remains on while driving. This safety issue has been documented online in a number of forums by 2006-2008 lexus driver. Lexus has been aware of this safety issue and included it in its limited warranty, however, most drivers did not experience airbag problems until years later after their manufacturer warranty expired. The out-of-pocket cost for this safety repair is upwards of $3500, forcing drivers to spend money for a manufacturing failure. Moreover, it is not possible to pass inspection with the airbag light. Lastly, this faulty airbag mechanism is a safety hazard that puts the driver, passenger and other motorists at risk of injury, paralysis, or even death if the airbag does not deploy. Because of the high potential for danger caused by the lexus wiring harness, nhtsa needs initiate a toyota/lexus recall on this faulty part in order to protect the lives of motorists. Personally, i am afraid for my safety when driving my car. The airbag sensor is recently came on in my lexus is 250. I spoke with my lexus service representative when i brought my car in for service related to the "takata recall". I was told that the wiring harness was a separate issue from the recall and that i would need to pay out-of-pocket for both the diagnostic and the replacement (~$3500-3800). I will not be able to pass the mandated state inspection until the part is replaced and the sensor cleared, despite my carotherwise being in optimal driving condition, if this were a repair issue that affected only a small proportion of lexus is 250 models, i would not bring this matter to the nhtsa.however, the volume of complaints after the lexus tsb and warranty expiry has led me to urge nhtsa to intervene

Wiring harness

The srs air bag light came on indicating a problem with the vehicle air bags. I found the tsb ( l-sb-0167-08) myself on the internet and i took vehicle into local dealership the next day. The diagnostic pulled code b1861- open circuit in the knee airbag on driver side squib circuit which is the exact code for the tsb.the recommendation is to remove and replace the instrument panel harness. At a cost of $2600. The fix falls under the restraint system warranty of 72 months or 70,000 miles whichever comes first.my vehicle is well under the mileage but it out of warranty by time (10 months).i called lexus corporate and they are only willing to cover half the part cost.the service manager stated that with the light on the entire srs system is completely disabled; in the event of a crash, no air bags or seat belt pre-tensioners will activate.but he said it is safe to drive.how is it safe to drive a vehicle with no safety system? the problem is a wiring harness was designed too short so it puts tension on it causing the harness to break tripping the light (manufacturing defect).lexus redesigned the harness and gave it the same part number as the original.from what i've found on the internet its a common complaint for all 2006-2008 lexus is 250 and 350 models.

Te car is flood inside because theres a ac drain block and this produce melt and smelles and da,ages and oxident the floor. And electrical cables can make a electrical failure amd activated the airbags.

My wife has taken such good care of this car and always goes to the dealer when it needs work, except for oil changes which she goes to goodyear for. I had gotten tired of the recall for the dash and door panels recall and thought she had waited long enough since she was on the list and it seemed they were trying to "out wait" us until the car was sold or something. When i called lexus headquarters, the lady was nice but mentioned it had a recall for the passenger airbag and said no one should sit in the passenger seat. I am appalled at the unprofessional way this was made public to us. It was supposed to be a notice in the mail which we never got. I sat in that seat many times, as well as other friends and family. For a problem this serious, which could result in death, i have lost faith in lexus. They have become like all the other dealerships. I had thought it was the best vehicle made, period. Now that has changed. We were told to get a rental car for $35 maximum a day. What kind of deal is that? get a crappy small rental car for a year or more after driving a luxury vehicle? i personally have a mustang, and when we are tired of waiting or they fix the car and it gets old, i am getting my wife an american car to support our economy. Enough is enough, period.

Takata recall: the recall should most definitely included the airbag wiring harness, i had no issues with my airbag light until i place my car back in the shop to get the recall a day later the airbag light came on and will not go out. Itook it back to lexus and they notified me that the it had nothing to do with the part they just replaced. However it was not on prior too. The are getting a diagnostic myself i was informed that the wiring harness was bad and my airbags would not deploy, in an accident. This a major safety concern, and a well known issue to happen to the lexus is 250, this is a direct link with the takata recall and something that should be cover by lexus. Faulty air bags are not a customers fault. Air bags where placed in cars forlife savingprotection, to not include this is the recall is a death sentence for the drivers and there family who are having this problem.

Srs warning just came on by itself and stayed on.i took it to a lexus dealer service and they've diagnose the exact problem as stated on:lexus is250 2006 safety report #lsb-0167-08lexus is250 2006 technical service bulletin was issued dec 11, 2008.lexus is250 2006 had a failed air bags . Lexus: vehicles may exhibit a srs light on condition with dtc b1861. *pe .----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------lexus agreed to cover half the cost of the part and zero on service, because it was over the 70,000 mile warranty.i told them that i was never informed of this defect when my vehicle was still under warranty but they still refused to cover the full cost of fixing it. I'm upset that they feel the customer is mainly responsible for a known defect that they knew about.

I need to renew my registration but not able to due to the recall remedy not being available

Takata recall -- i have notified the dealership nearest me in san francisco and no one is able to replace the defective bag. I have contacted the dealership in daly city serramonte multiple times.

The contact owns a 2006 lexus is 250. The contact stated that the recall notice for nhtsa campaign number: 16v340000 (air bags) was received in june of 2016. After contacting the dealer and the manufacturer on multiple occasions, the contact was informed that the parts needed to repair the vehicle were still not available and no estimated time for receiving the parts could be given. The vin was not available. The contact had not experienced a failure.

Takata recallno communication since first quarter 2016 general recall notice. Nothing. My car is zone a houston texas 2006 model year. Manufacturer lexus gets an "f" grade for not telling me when or how my car will be fixed for a serious safety issue.

I have a 2006 lexus is250, i want to report that my dashboard and door panels are melting and peeling apart. This has been going on for about 4 years now. I know there has been numerous complaints about this, i am also reporting i have the issue.

I received a lexus safety recall notice on 7/18/16 regarding the takata front passenger airbag inflator (nhtsa recall no. 16v-340). The propellant in these inflators may degrade after prolonged exposure to high absolute humidity and fluctuating high temperatures. Degraded propellant can cause inflator rupture during airbag deployment. In the event of an inflator rupture, metal fragments could pass through the airbag cushion material, striking the vehicle occupants and result in serious injury or death.my car is used to transport my family, which includes my 6 month old son. We do not feel safe driving my car and would like to receive a loaner until the airbag parts have been replaced. Also, we live in an area where temperatures reach up to 100 degrees in the summer months, which may increase the risk of the propellant in these inflators to degrade.

Airbag goes on or off when driving. Have it check by dealer and requiring me to pay almost $2000 dollars to replace something and read some problems same as mine and it is part of a recall. Any help will be appreciated.

As i was about to park the car on a city street. The electrical steering suddenly failed. It became extremely difficult to turn the wheel. It could be the connectors of the electrical steering cause the sudden loss.

Lexus has a wide know issue with melting dashboards and door panels. My dashboard is melting. It creates a glare when driving, it houses critical electrical components that can pose a huge safety hazard. I drive this car daily and frequently transport passengers such as family and friends. Lexus refuses to do anything about it. Car interior repair shops have no solution to this problem. Lexus acknowledges that this problem is widespread but is not doing anything to prevent tragedy from occurring. The condition continues to get worse to the point that mechanics are refusing to work on anything that requires have to lay hands on the dashboard because it is literally melting and falling apart. They don't want to be held responsible for any further damage. This poses another safety risk as i can not fix any problems behind the dashboard at all if mechanics are refusing to do work on it. I have exhausted all search efforts looking for a solution. I am genuinely concerned about my safety and others. Lexus has manufactured thousands upon thousands of these vehicles and they continue to be driven on the public roads. Please help.

Hi,with all the news lately regarding the problems with "sticking" gas pedals on certain toyota models, i wanted to emphasize that i don't believe the problem is limited to toyotas. I had e-mailed you previously to describe similar problems my wife and i have had with our 2006 is 250, where the car felt like it wanted to lurch forward with our foot on the brake pedal. Additionally, the tachometer needlewas fluctuating while this was happening. Our car even died once at a stop light for no apparent reason. There is a record of our taking the car into putnam lexus for inspection of this problem.we never did receive a response from lexus to our first e-mail. And, we do not feel that a creeping floor mat was the cause of the problems we were experiencing.we feel that the problems we've described need to be investigated further since it is safety related.i just tried four times to send this description to lexus through their online e-mail system but kept getting, "operation failed, illegal parameters."

I own a 2006 lexus is250 and there is a problem that i cannot see to handle nor the dealer can handle. The problem with the car is that when i'm going over 60 to 65 mph the check engine light blinks and the vsc light comes on. The car does not accelerate and just the rpm would go up. I took the car in to the dealer with extended warranty in hand on 4 now 5 different occasions and everytime i'm hearing different stories. Here is the list.* may 22, 2009: 60,000 mile service done.* sept 6, 2009: took the car in for "check vsc & check engine". Next day they told me nothing was wrong with the car.* oct 10, 2009: towed car to dealership. "check vsc & check engine" light came on again.pulled over on the highway 3 times to reset but the lights did not go away. Pulled over twice earlier that day, twice the day before also.* oct 14, 2009: (lexus told you that the issues were resolved by swapping the engine coils the day or two before. No charges.) i requested an emissions test before i came to pick it up. Lexus called back and told me that the engine light came back on again during the emissions test. Still looking for the problem.* oct 18, 2009: lexus called, told me that the problem with the engine is because of the carbon buildup. They were going to cover the valve springs but i would have to pay for the cleanup which is $ 960. Not covered by ext. Warranty. 2 other dealers told me that the carbon buildup cleanup was an injunction service and it is supposed to only cost 190 dollars. The funny thing is that the dealer wrote the problem is caused by "carbon buildup cleanup?" with a question mark. Took the car and had the injunction service done.i took the car to another lexus dealer and they told me that while the other dealer was doing the coil swap they cracked the cover for it and now gas was leaking. Had to get it fixed and also did the carbon buildup cleanup (injunction service). Feb 2010 same problem occurred.

The contact owns a 2006 lexus is 250. While driving 35 mph, the engine and the vehicle stability control warning lights illuminated. The contact stated the vehicle became harder to control. The contact mentioned that the failure recurred on multiple occasions. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed that the pistons ring sets needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 121,000.

I took my vehicle in to a lexus dealership on march 15, 2013 because the engine has powered down while driving & the check engine and vsc indicators came on simultaneously, the car is also idling hard.i had the vehicle inspected and it was found to misfire by the technicians at the dealership.i was told that this is a massive recall and that my parts will not come in for eight months.i am afraid to drive my vehicle which is why i brought it to the dealership and do not understand why the company will not loan me a vehicle while this manufacturing defect is corrected.

Check vsc light. Car will not shift properly past 3rd gear.. Solenoid or bad transmission

Solenoids in my car is causing my car to go into limp mode due to the fact that lexus states transmission fluid never needs to be changed is now having me buying a new transmission because the solenoids are bad and is stuck in 3rd gear.

The contact owns a 2006 lexus is 250. While driving approximately 30 mph, the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the engine misfired due to carbon build up. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 144,000.

The contact owns a 2006 lexus is 250. The contact stated thatwhile driving various speeds, the vehicle?s temperature gauge increased then immediately returned to normal.the check engine and vsc warning indicators illuminated.the vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the failure could not be diagnosed.the manufacturer was notified.the vehicle was not repaired.the failure mileage was 93,390. Updated 12/18/14the consumer stated the manufacturer was notified and did not offer any assistance. The consumer would like to be reimbursed for the cost of repairs. Updated 3/25/2015

The check engine, check vsc light would intermittently come on when i turned on my car and sometimes while driving.this has happened since i purchased my car in 2006.i brought my car in for the recall but they couldn't make the light come on when they hooked up their computers to the computers in my car.i recently brought my car to another dealership to perform the recall of the dashboard and side panels and the problem finally happened while they had the car in their possession.they tested it and said this problem would have been covered by a recall had it not expired.they said the reason is that carbon buildup in the first, third, and fifth cylinders are causing this problem.why didn't they discover this when i took my car in for that recall the first time?because it didn't exhibit the problem at the time doesn't mean it didn't have the issue.now they said they cannot fix it because the recall expired?! how is that fair or safe?!?!?!?

Hi when i am driving a strong odor comes into cab smells like rotten eggs and fuel its very over powering while driving i have talked to mechanics and they cant figure out what it is or where it comes from. I have read on forums and it is a common issue with this model

Automatic transmission. When slowing to a stop or anytime (everytime) the car needs to auto downshift from 2nd to 1st the car hard shifts and the entire car jerks really hard causing almost whiplash.this is a widely discussed issue with is and gs models on many forums.new ecu units needed each time costing thousands.

Rattling sound at startup

The car was shaking and would not excelerate over 40mph.it was brought in to lexus of pohanka in december of 2016.they performed a top engine clean.the car started having the same issues in the beginning of 2017. I called lexus customer service and opened a case as i was told there was a recall on a manufacturing defect of the pistons.i had paid $1500.00 for the work performed.i was told a should have received a letter in regard to this problem.lexus was calling it a customer support program.i never received the letter but repeatedly ask le us to reimburse me and solve the piston misfire.i have all of my emails to support my case.lexus stopped replying to them.the car at this point is still shaking and the engine light is flashing.we have been instructed by lexus in the past not to drive when light is flashing.at this time i do not know where to turn.any help would be greatly appreciated.i am aware that many of these models and others have had the work performed or new engines.

Solenoids in my car is causing my car to go into limp mode due to the fact that lexus states transmission fluid never needs to be changed is now having me buying a new transmission because the solenoids are bad and is stuck in 3rd gear.

My is 250 had a recall/tsb for a severe engine problem that involved rebuilding the entire engine.they performed this in 2013. Barely 1 year later i experienced the same problem, i brought it back to the dealer and was told they could not replicate the issue.2 weeks ago the problem happened again so i brought it back to the dealer, now they inform me the car needs a new engine and is going to cost over 4000 dollars for a fix they did not perform correctly the first time.

Vsc and engine light are on.inside of car smells like exhaust is coming through.steering seems to be impaired

The contact owns a 2006 lexus is 250. While the contact's daughter was driving approximately 20 mph, the check engine and vehicle stability control indicators illuminated, as well as other unknown warning indicators. The vehicle lost power and began to emit a burning odor from under the hood. The driver examined the vehicle and noticed fluid underneath the vehicle. The lexus of milwaukee dealer diagnosed that the fuel rail on one side of the engine failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and opened case number: 170731228. The contact was informed that the vehicle had received a recall repair for a corroded fuel rail in 2010. The approximate failure mileage was 40,000.

I have a unsafe vehicle that is dangerous for myself and the public. The dealership has fail to take responsibility for the problem. There is a recall for the problem and it was extended as well. ( carbon buildup) . The registration history on the vehicle is very strange, itdoes not seem to be accurate, i believe this vehicle was a defect and the dealership has tampered the vehicle to cover the history.the vehicle service history has been purge and deleted for unknown reason. I am getting different answers and no help with the problem. It has cause me a lot of distress and concern, i have spent thousands of dollars trying to make it safe but from research this is a common defect for this particular vehicle and it can not be repaired. I noticed a black spot in my rear view mirror one day and did not think anything of it, however the one spot turned into multiple streaks. It's getting harder to see out of the mirror which to me is a safety issue. I noticed that there are many complaints on this issue and there should be a recall on this defect as well. I have to make an appointment for the recalls on the melting dashboard and doors and engine. Lexus should really take care of this problem. I have purchased several newvehicles however i have had more problems with this car than i did with my other cars.

About 06/04/2014 while i am driving the highway as i usually do on my way to work and had made my way to the left lane. I am in rush hour traffic when all of a sudden my car started to loose compression, temp. Creazy it started to slow down to about 25 miles (while on a main highway) and a check engine light came on and thevcsnotification started flashing. I immediately made my way to the shoulder on the right side of the highway to look-up the problemand did not show any thing wroung i decide to take it to longo lexus dealer immediately after i called the service advisor he said it is commen problem for early 2006 is 250 and he said " will take care it for you under lexus warranty" and he mension about bad ceel rings in the engine, after one day waiting, the lexus dealer determined that my 2006 lexus is 250 needed: valve springs, valve lash adjuster, updated pistons and rings and possibly a short block. Yes the engine was bad. But the bad news that they don"t coverbecause he said the car over heat!!!!!!i try to explane to him that never over heat only because that problem happened made the car heat temp. Going up and down like creazy and when i open the engine i feel no heat coming up .i thinkit is fair that lexus cover all the repair for my 2006 lexus is 250 becuse i read a lot of complaints withnhtsahad the same exactlymy problem and also i see one add in craiglist the seller said that his car had same my problem and been take caed by lexus mission vjio ca.i always take care me caras baby always maintaine and i need lexus to fix thier bad manefacur parts in my engine.

The transmission on my car has issues jerking when in gear and stopping when in use. I took my car to a certified lexus dealer and they could not repair it. I'm sure because it was no longer under warranty. I took it to a transmission machanic and i bought a 2006 is250 used transmission from a car that was totaled that had less miles and was totaled because the frame was bent because it was rear ended. In less than a year same problem transmission again! i spent $4500 the first go around i couldn't afford that again. I had to buy another car for what i paid to repair the lexus. I've checked for recalls yeah my dash has melted and all of the other recalls! i can't get those corrected!! i'm starting a class action lawsuit!!! i've spent to much money on a high class toyota that has more problems than its worth!!!!

Takata recall, car raditor hose busted without any notice while hood was open which cause burn to passenger, let the car sit for an over an hour before the car was brought to an shop where the car was tested an head gasket was blowed

Engine rattle on cold start.

Hvac evaporator drain blockage resulting in repeated flooded interior and carpet mold.

Car started to run rough, slowed down, check engine light and sbs light came on (ithought it was an oxygen sensor). Book says to take to dealer immediately. I took it in, they did a check, told me it was a 'loose gas cap'. A month later - same thing happened. I took it back, they kept the car for two weeks - told me the valve springs were not the correct length and had to be replaced.

A young lady parked her 2006 is 250 lexus, equipped with a "smart key" system, in her attached garage which was on the ground floor of her three story townhouse. She exited the vehicle with the "key fob" on her person, but either inadvertently forgot to shut down the engine or pushed the start button in an effort to do so but was unsuccessful. The young lady did not realize the vehicle was running and after entering her townhouse from the garage placed the "key fob" on a table on the second floor. The young lady remained in her townhouse with the vehicle running in the garage until it ran out of gasoline and stopped. The young lady was subsequently found dead in her bathroom on the third floor. The death was determined to have been caused by carbon monoxide poisoning as a result of the vehicle having been left running in the garage. The vehicle lacked a "shut-down" switch to shut the engine off when unoccupied and inert for an interval of time and/or lacked an adequate aural warning that the "key fob" was being removed from the vehicle while it was running or the operator had exited the vehicle while the engine was running.

I entered the highway as i usually do on my way to work and had made my way to the left lane.i am in rush hour traffic when all of a sudden my car started to loose compression, it started to slow down to about 25 miles (while on a main highway) and a check engine light came on and the vcs notification started flashing.i immediately made my way to the shoulder on the right side of the highway to look-up the code and all it said was to take to the lexus dealer immediately, which is what i did.after about four hours of waiting, the lexus dealer determinedthat my 2006 lexus needed:valve springs, valve lash adjuster, updated pistons and rings and possibly a short block.yes the engine was bad.

The contact owns a 2006 lexus is250. The contact was driving approximately 70 mph when the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was able to restart and was taken to a dealer where they advised the contact that they were unable to diagnose the failure. The vehicle was not repaired.the failure mileage was approximately 78,000. The vin was unavailable.

I have a 2006 lexus is250.i noticed "rough" starts and idle.this was at or around 65k miles.i assumed it was related to super cold weather or "bad" gas (after the car sat unused for 2-3 days+)at around 84k miles during warm weather - i experienced both a rough start and stalling at a stop sign.i took the vehicle into my local dealership where it has been meticulously maintained. They did an extended diagnostic (kept the car over a long weekend) and advised my car was not "firing" 65-85% of the time and that it was caused by the valve springs.this is a $5,000 repair.lexus claimed because the issue was outside the 70k mike warranty they would pay for the "parts" of roughly $4,000 as "goodwill"but i would be responsible for the labor at $945.i did a search for recalls and learned that the exact issue is under recall for other models inclusive of the is350 v6 - which the company regularly refers to as my car's "sibling" and has shared previous recalls with.i've contacted lexus directly and they have advised the offer is final.they have refused my request to speak with the manufacturing rep.i believe this "stall" issue is a significant safety concern (per the recall noted)i've asked lexus whether or not they have researched this issue on the v6 250 for which i've not received a response.i believe that lexus would have used the exact same manufacturer for these value springs and or very similar design specifications.it is incomprehensible that given this specific diagnosis they would not resolve this immediately.i believe absent a nhtsa investigation lexus will continue to hold customers hostage to pay for their safety although every indication is that this is a design/manufacturing defect for this model as well.

For 3-years we have complained to the dealership regarding the musty smell coming from the a/c vents. We were advised by the dealership to cut off the a/c before arriving home to allow the unit to drain. We also were advised to spray lysol into the outside cowl vents which did improve the odor but this a/c musty smell has always been an issue and is all over the internet. On 12/20/2011, we noticed water was apparently entering the passenger compartment. The carpet was wet and there was excessive moisture and water under carpet. Upon noticing this problem we scheduled an appointment with the dealership. I was advised that most likely, the a/c drain flap was stuck and correction for this defect required removal of the drain flap to allow the drain to flow and not back up and enter the passenger compartment. The dealer stated this defect has occurred before involving the is250. Cost to correct this defect was $240 because the transmission had to be dropped to access the drain line. Removing the water/moisture and drying the carpet was estimated at $2k. Again, this obvious defect is all over the net and apparently well known by the dealership. All lexus owners should be notified by lexus so all can avoid this potential health issue involving mold and the high cost of repair. If the water is not noticed and water continues to build up in the a/c and under the carpets serious mold related health issues could occur. I don't know how long our car leaked or backed up water but a musty smell forthe past 3-years has been not only offensive but dangerous considering the health hazards associated with mold here in florida.i respectfully submit that this defect should be addressed immediately.

I purchased a 2006 is 250 in october, 2005.the vehicle has been driven for 2,500 miles. After the engine warms up, smoke and a burned smell come from the engine compartment.the first time i brought the problem to the dealers attention i was told that everything was normal.i brought the vehicle in a second time and it was discovered that oil was leaking from the passenger's side valve cover onto the hot exhaust manifold causing the oil to smoke and burn.the vehicle is now at the dealers service department and i am being told that they do not know how to fix the problem and that they have no parts to use for replacement since the design is so new. The problem is related to the high oil pressure maintained by the engine according to the dealer.the engine is covered with plastic panels and i have advised the dealer that continual leakage of oil onto the hot exhaust manifold with a plastic cover on top of the engine could result in an engine fire.smoke is visible from the engine compartment when the engine is running.

I was operating my 2006 lexus is250 awd at very low speed in a parking lot when the engine began to surge. I could not bring the car to a stop using the brake pedal and could barely keep it from creeping forward. I shifted into neutral and the engine really began to roar, revving very high, but i was then able to stop the car andturn it off using the stop/start button. When i restarted the car it operated normally and the problem did not re-occur. The floor mat had nothing to do with the problem, as it was a factory mat held in place by the little hooks, and was not the all weather mat. The mat was in place after the incident. I reported the occurrence to my dealer, warnock lexus, in livingston, n.j. They checked the car out and found nothing wrong and no evidence of anything wrong in the computer's memory. The problem did not recur and the car was returned to lexus at the end of the lease. I now have a 2009 is250 awd and am concerned about the reports of this problem. I don't feel the floor mat had anything to do with it. The date below is approximate, but lexus should have a record of the incident from the dealer service department.

Back on may 21, 2009, i pulled out of my driveway in my 2006 lexus is250 and the accelerator immediately became stuck down forcing my car to go almost 55 mph down a winding hill. At this point the brakes also did not work and i simply had to wait for everything to begin working again. I was extremely lucky this happened at night and nobody was in front of me because this is a main road. I contacted lexus the next day who informed it was just my floor mat and to remove the extra mat immediately. While i did not agree due to the way both the accelerator pedal and brakes felt completely locked in place, i did as they said. Now with the recent recall on toyota models, i called lexus again who informed me that in about 3 months i will receive a recall notice and that in the mean time i can come in and have a tech test drive it with me for "peace of mind". I would like to understand why this car has not been included and publicly announcedin the recall when they are fully aware of the dangers! being told the "part" needed to to correct the problem (both the accelerator and the brake system) is not yet being manufactured for my model isunacceptable and in the meantime i am trying to not drive my vehicle and have this experience again.

I had just got onto the highway and my car started accelerating and would not stop.all of the lights started flashing on the dashboard such as the brake light.i immediately removed the floor mat. Luckily, since no one was on the highway i was able to pull into the shoulder although my car was still accelerating and put it in park even when i was in park the engine continued to rev up.i turned the car off and called for a tow truck. The lexus dealership said they did not find any problems with my car and they thought it was the mat.i have not had another problem since then.

I received a notice from lexus a couple of months ago that my is250 would be recalled due to'potential floor mat interference with accelerator pedal'.i called the dealership about two weeks ago.i was told that the recall for this problem had not started yet.in the letter, it states that i should contact you if lexus had not remedied this problem in a reasonable time.i feel that they have not.i appreciate your assistance in getting lexus to complete the necessary recall work on my car.

On april 3, 2007 i took my 2006 lexus is 250 automobile to my dealer of purchase for diagnosis after the check engine light came on the dashboard. Dealer performed electronic tests on the car on april 4, 2007, and determined the primary electronic gasoline fuel pump was bad , not sending enough pressure and faulty electrical connections.the car is 1 year old and has 30,000 miles.that a primary gasoline fuel pump would go bad in the first 30,000 miles is very rare and worrisome.after picking up my car from service on april 4th, i noticed a strong odor of gasoline raw fuel fumeswere inside the passenger compartment and in the rear trunk of the car.i informed the auto dealership service advisors on duty at the time of pickup of the automobile, and they stated that because the fuel pump that was replaced is located inside the passenger compartment and underneath the rear passenger seat, perhaps a small amount of fuel had been spilled inside the passenger compartment during the installation of the new fuel pump.i was told no problem and that the smell of raw fuel would go away.i drove 14 miles on my way home and decided to fill up my gas tank with 6 gallons of fuel. Once i filled the gas tank with additional fuel, the smell of increasing raw fuel filled the passenger compartment.for fear of a fire or explosion of the raw fuel fumes, i had the car towed back to the dealership, sewell lexus of dallas, texas.the dealership on april 5th began to diagnose the problem again, but has not yet been able to identify the source of the raw gasoline fuel fumes that increase in the engine compartment when the vehicle is turned on and accelerating.this dangerous condition with raw gasoline fuel fumes could cause a fire or explosion that would kill me and the occupants of the car.as a result of the fuel fumes, i and my passenger on april 5th, have endured migraine headaches and dizziness after ingestion the raw fuel fumes.

While driving in the highway back home the check engine light came on and it said vsc. When i got home i did some research online and went back to my vehicle and checked the gas cover to see if it could off been that but it still has the check engine light on

Bought car maybe two weeks ago first day fuel line busted, third day suspension and tires came apart, my electrical components under the hood are mostly fried and worn out could cause for, brake lights uncontrollable

Vsc and engine light are on.inside of car smells like exhaust is coming through.steering seems to be impaired

The contact owns a 2006 lexus is 250. The contact received a notification of nhtsa campaign number: 14v647000 (fuel system, gasoline). The contact stated that the part needed to remedy the vehicle was unavailable. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.

Hi when i am driving a strong odor comes into cab smells like rotten eggs and fuel its very over powering while driving i have talked to mechanics and they cant figure out what it is or where it comes from. I have read on forums and it is a common issue with this model

Car has a recall but i do not think they were done by dealershiphistory record has been purge. A lot of safety issue with this car.

I was inform by other lexus that there are recall for 2006-2013 lexus on serveral parts. I made a call to lexus dealership of sacramento and spoke to representative she had also confirm the recal on my car and booked me an appointment several days later. I went to my appointment and was denied my services, they told me it had expired and that i had to pay for all my repairs. I was never notified about any recalls. I feel like i was rip off for being 17years old kid. I felt cheated.

In late 2012 took my wife's is 250 to the lexus dealership due to heavy raw gas smell.the lexus dealer in nj stated that the issue was related to old spark plugs...had my first tune up for the vehicle at 100k miles.well the smell didn't go away.we recently moved to fl and took the vehicle to a fl lexus dealership.this time we forced them to hold the car over night as the raw gas smell is prominent in the a.m., then goes away.they found the fuel hose/fuel gasket from the engine to the fuel tank was leaking.why couldn't the other dealer figure this out?looking up complaints on this web site suggests the fuel smell issue is common for the '06 is 250 model.this was a very dangerous situation with my wife and 2 year daughter traveling in the vehicle on a daily basis.shame on you lexus.there should be a recall for '06 is 250.stop being cheap!!cost us $1,250-1,500.

I have contacted my local lexus dealership and cannot get any help with the takata recall, door panel recalls, and any other recall issue.i have been trying for the last year and half.

About 3-4 times a day when i'm driving freeway my car will let off a roton egg smell. I was told by a mechanic it might be my cytalist converter but when checked it passed.

The electronic key somehow locked the doors with the key inside.i opened up the front passenger door, which unlocks all the doors, set my purse with the electronic key on the front seat, closed that door, opened the back door, put my 15 month-old granddaughter in her car seat, closed her door, and heard all the doors lock.one of the safety features of this car is that you are not supposed to be able to lock your keys inside.we had to call the police, and they had to break a window to get the car open.it was about 90 degrees outside, and she had been in there for about 12 minutes.lexus has no idea why this occurred, nor are they taking full responsibility to fix my damaged windows--one is broken and several others are chipped.they are "good willing the parts" on the broken window.

Car parked parallel to curb. Opened door, got into driver's seat, fastened seat belt, turned on ignition, as normal.shifted from park into drive, immediately engine began to "rev up" uncontrolled, based on sound from engine. After a few seconds of increasing pitch of engine noise, car jumped the curb, over the adjacent side walk, and slammed into the brick wall in front of my house, slid along the wall, and car ended up against the fence of next door neighbor. Car moved about 6 feet in 2-3 seconds.right hand and wrist of driver was injured on impact, trapezium bone broken in half, and a portion of bone smashed into little pieces. Hand and wrist muscles and tendons strained. Surgery was required two weeks later to put 4 metal rods inwrist to assist healing. In cast for total of 8+ weeks. Many sessions of occupational therapy will be needed to restore wrist and hand function, some loss of function is anticipated, and arthritis in wrist may result.car damage included front bumper, front grill, front spoiler, grill assembly, headlamp, head lamp assembly, fog lamps, rt front wheel, right front lower arm control, right, left outer tie rod.

The contact owns a 2006 lexus is250. The contact stated that while driving 65 mph, the vehicle failed to decelerate. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis but they were unable to duplicate the problem. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified.

The contact stated that the check engine and the vehicle stability control warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 145,000.

Car has a recall but i do not think they were done by dealershiphistory record has been purge. A lot of safety issue with this car.

Lexus is250. Drive shaft came off. I had an accident on inter-state 75/85 north bound in downtown atlanta around exit 248b.the front driver side wheel came off in the middle of highway. I did not hit any car except the broken tire hit concrete wall and stopped against concrete wall.i reported this issue to toyota immediately but it took them 3 months to inspect the car.since i can not afford to let it sat in collision center for a while, i had to repaired. By the time, they inspected on nov. 25, 2009. It got all repaired.i did show picture to them.however, lexus refuse to offer any assistance after inspection.lexus said that i could hit something that it's why my rim was damaged.of course, my rim was damaged because it hit concrete wall after it came off. Those pictures showed that i did not hit any where (including front bumper).atlanta police came immediately since this accidents was on interstate.however, according to him that i don;t need to file report because there is no other party or property damage.it was only my car. I went to hospital for neck check out. X ray did show something unusual but my own insurance covered the charge. Please review and see if any related incident to prevent future issue.

This complaint is for lexus dealership in roseville california. I took my 2006 is 250 in due to i received a safety recall notice from lexus for front seat belts (seat belts locking up). They ordered the parts back in may 06, until now it hasn't came in. I checked on the status a month ago and the dealership told me they lost all the order information (without notifying me) and had to order it again. Its been almost 3 months and i still don't have my new seat belts i am submitting this complaint because i believed the dealership has failed to remedy the defect within reasonable time..this is asafety issue specially i have a pregnant wife that rides with me or drives the car occasionally.

The car was in the garage and the seat belt came part way out and then locked so that i could not fasten it. I could not get it to budge not matter how gently i pulled. The dealer recommended a complete replacement. They stated that the warranty for seat belts expired at 50,000. However, when i pressed for lexus to cover this defective safety component anyway, they decided not to charge me anything due to my long record with the dealership. Good for lexus. However, seat belts should not fail like this. If i were on a long trip, this would have been a safety hazard.

I have been on a 3 year wait list for lexus to replace my dash and door panels among other recalls i live in louisiana my car is now totaled i live in gonzales la and lost everything due to the flood it really upsets me knowing that not only my lexus parts were melting on myself and my child i also have a latex allergy now i get book value for a car and that's one less vehicle lexus has to fix i should be given the value of the replacement parts driving a unsafe vehicle with so many defects i have contacted im insurance company and was told to contact lexus ha i've tried that before but i've paid for a vehicle that melted on me and my disabled child for years this is wrong on so many levels and the lastest airbag recall but to lexus i am just another number so do i contact a attorney for what's rightfully owed to me by lexus ?

Takata recall. My light airbag light is turned on and will not go away from dashboard. The door paneling is falling apart just by normal use.

Car has a recall but i do not think they were done by dealershiphistory record has been purge. A lot of safety issue with this car.

Brake pressure has been lost over time. Car is harder to get to a stop during motion because the brake pedal goes all the way down even before starting up. Brake pads still have a good amount of ceramic left. Car has already been service and the problem still persist. I noticed there was an open recall back in 2010 but i never received a notice.

The contact owns a 2006 lexus is 250. The contact stated the brakes were making unusual noises and there was an abnormal increase in stopping distance. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the contact was advised that the rear brake pads were low and the caliper had seized. The vehicle was deemed as unsafe to drive and a loaner was provided. The contact received previous notification of an unknown recall but when contacting the manufacturer, his claim was denied. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileages were 106,000.updated 08/03/10. *ljaccording to the invoice, the right rear caliper had seized. Updated 09/22/10

I bought my new car a is250 lexus on oct 26, 2005.after 11k miles or so, my brake makes loud and consistent squeaking noise.i talked to the dealer and manufacturer many times, but they failed to resolve the issue, and state that it's normal. I think this is very serious for consumer, because it might fail someday and we don't even know it, but lexus continue to refuse to fix the problems by saying it's normal for such car.as for the issue, i think it's life threatening for what it is use for.

In november 2006 i purchased a new lexus is250. I have taken it to a lexus dealer for all scheduled maintenance. The last time they rotated the tires. Right after that i noticed a 'noise' with the brakes. At the next service (22,500 mi) they are telling me that the rotors have to be replaced and that i should expect that again in 20,000 miles. I am not an aggressive driver. I had my last car (mercedes) for 10+ years with zero problems with rotors. This seems unreasonable on a new car.

I drove approximately 65 miles stopped and parked for 15 minutes. I then turned the car on and while commencing to drive away, noticed that my steering wheel was locked and incredibly hard to steer left or right. My dashboard had no problem indicator lights on, so i turned the car off and restarted it and regained steering capabilities. The following morning, i drove 1 mile away and upon my return while doing 35 mph the steering wheel locked and became incredibly hard to steer resulting in a near death experience that i will never forget.had this same scenario have occurred while my daughter was at the wheel there's no doubt in my mind that this part malfunction would have caused a fatality.how can such a vital part malfunction without warning to the driver?

The contact owns a 2006 lexus is-250. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds the power steering failed. As a result, the steering wheel seized and became increasingly difficult to turn in any direction. The contact mentioned that the vehicle had received repairs for the power steering failure before. The dealer was contacted who advised to have the vehicle towed to their location in order to have it diagnosed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure and current mileage was 115,000.

Vsc and engine light are on.inside of car smells like exhaust is coming through.steering seems to be impaired

Car was driving fine all day.at 7pm went to back out of a parking spot and the p/s light came on and steering wheel is locked.turned the car off and on again, but problem is still there. Had to have the car towed to a repair shop.the steering wheel is impossible to move, very hard.

Recently i was driving down the highway and my power steering light came on when the light appeared the power steering went away. The garage notified me that my power steering ecu had failed. I had the ecu replaced and steering calibrated a few days later as i turned in to my schools parking lot i heard a pop but was not very alarmed about it until that afternoon i was headed home and the steering wheel would lock in one direction or the other as i would turn slightly for a curve. The steering wheel would unlock but would take both hands and a firm tug to get back straight. The other morning i was going to drive it to class since this is my only way of transportation but the steering was completely stuck in place so i had to call another ride. If the car is stationary or moving slow the steering wheel makes a horrific whining noise as you turn. I think this is an issue that needs to be addressed because i called lexus to resolve the issue hoping to get help since there was already one recall completed on these parts. Lexus customer service told me they had to inspect it before they could do anything. They paid for the inspection and admitted the part replaced by them previously had failed again but would not be covered again. They then quoted me a price of around 3,600 dollars. After speaking with multiple case managers and supervisors they told me the case was resolved on their end and i needed to contact the national dispute settlement. I did contact them and will also submit the paper i sent them to you guys.many people are talking in online forums are having the same safety issues. Thanks for your time.

While driving my steering wheel sometimes jerks to the left or right so when i drive my had is always firm on the steering wheel because i don't know when it my jerk again, it happens mostly happens on roads that are not strait surface, my biggest worries is that when i was driving to work and was on left lane the car jerked to the left and almost went strait to the concrete barrier. I took it to sewell lexus and they could not identify the problem at the time they said it was my bad break pads and bad front rotors, so i got that done thinking it would fix the problem the cost do get that done was $1,002.92 and after driving off the dealer the car still had the same problem. The car drives smooth but it has those sudden steering jerks that really concern me.

As i was about to park the car on a city street. The electrical steering suddenly failed. It became extremely difficult to turn the wheel. It could be the connectors of the electrical steering cause the sudden loss.

The dash and armrests has been melting and is easily marred or chipped. I've added uv protection film to curb the effect but it is still happening. Please help us there are many with this issue and many did not receive a recall notice.

Dash board and interior door panels are melting. My dash board has cracks above the glove compartment. The material is very sticky and has marks every where.

Vehicle's dashboard and trims on door panels are melting. Black stains appear on finger tips when you touch them. Panels are cracking and melting.

I copied one of the other complaints, since my experience is exactly the same. Car dashboard is literally melting. The surface is now sticky which reflects a glare on the front windshield obstructing safe viewing for driving. When the sun is shining, it is very hard to see through the reflection of the dash on the inside windshield.rearview mirror has black lines obstructing safe viewing for driving.

Dashboard is melting in the hot sun. It causes a glare which is dangerous to drive.

2006 lexus is 250. Consumer writes in regards to deteriorating dashboard and door panel *ldthe consumer stated the dashboard was replaced but the side panels were not. The parts were not available to repair the panels. The consumer stated 3 years was an unreasonable amount of time to have the vehicle repaired.

Car dashboard is literally melting. The surface is now sticky which reflects a glare on the front windshield obstructing safe viewing for driving.rearview mirror has black lines obstructing safe viewing for driving.lexus is aware of both issues which appear to be manufacturer's defects but refuses to recall. Consumers are expected to bear costs to repair these manufacturers defects upwards $3000. A dashboard should never melt.

Dashboard is literally melting when the car is exposed to the direct sun light. Dashboard looks sticky ugly and disgusting.since the problem occurred the dashboard has developed a few long cracks. I demand a recall from a manufacturer to replace a dashboard for a new one with a better quality.

My dash board and interior door panels are melting. When it is hot if you touch it the black material come off on your hands or in your nails. My dash board has cracks above the glove compartment. The material is very sticky and has marks every where. I have kept my car up very well, but this makes the car look really bad. Not considering the harm it could be causing health wise. I love my lexus but i do not know if i will purchase another one for that reason alone.

Have 2006 lexus is250 with melting dash panel that blinds me in the am during my eastward commute and then again on my westward commute home every day. Ipurchased vehicle used in march 2010 with 61000 miles from dealer who, unknown to me, painted over melting dash to hide it but by august 2010, the paint wore off and dash was very sticky. I took the care to my local lexus dealer in birmingham al and he said there was nothing he could do as warranty had expired. I now live along the gulf coast in florida and this continues to be a severe safety hazard and, despite sunglasses, it is also a health hazard that can lead to cataracts. I am a physician and am aware of the risks of repeated exposure to intense sun glare. The materials are defective and lexus/toyota has known about this problem for almost 8 years and has chosen not to issue a safety recall to replace these dangerous dashboards. I will never buy another lexus product because of the shoddy, unsafe materials used in construction and the uncaring corporate attitude. Please force them to issue a recall to replace these defective parts before someone is killed.

The dashboard and door panels are melting, cracking and sticky and the glare off the dashboard is very dangerous to the driver and other drivers on the road. I think lexus should issue a recall on these parts before someone gets really hurt.

The dashboard is melted on the drivers side making it almost impossible to see clearly at certain times during the day. This is a serious problem that needs to be looked into because it can cause wrecks if it hasn't already. I know there are probably thousands of people that have this problem and lexus should stand by its brand and fix problems that are not the consumers fault.

The dashboard and door panels are melting when the car is in the sun.

I had a car accident last friday on highway 75, at approximately the 248.7 mark. I was going at the speed limit, and all of a sudden the front wheel came off from axle end and hit divider wall on the interstate. I lost control of the car and bumped my head on the glass.my insurance company and the police told me that i don't need to file report since no other partywas involved. I would to attached some pictures of the vehicle taken after the accident if possible. You can clearly see all of 5 bolts are still attached on the tires . It is very frustrating and astonishing that a highly reputable car maker would have allowed such poor quality on the body structure. There was no side collision at that time, and i when the tire came off loose it scratched and made damages to the car. Currently my car is at dealer shop, waiting for inspection. I sincerely hope lexus or nhtsa can start investigating on this matter and provide me an explanation. Needless to say, this is a very serious safety issue. No car owner would have expected any part of their car to be detached while on the road with no reason. If you need additional information, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Dashboard and door panels are beginning to melt and become sticky. Manufacturing defect in soft dash material is suspected. May cause injury to driver if air bags were deployed in an accident and the failing dash material were to become shrapnel as the bags deploy at high pressure.

Dashboard is deteriorating, melting, and becoming very sticky and shiny causing glare on windshield.door panels are also breaking down.

I have been on a waiting for over a year with no response to fix the sticky dashboard that lexus promise to fixed. Once the suns comes out dashboard creates a glare that reduces the visibility will driving.

The dash and both driver and passenger side door panels look as if they are melting. Every time i touch the door my fingernail chips off another piece of the soft material, making it look as though an animal was clawing at it. On really hot sunny days the dash can become somewhat shiny obstructing the view at certain angles and lighting. Dangerous and annoying.

The dashboard material has begun to melt creating a shiny spot in front the drivers side and creates a glare in the windhsield reducing visibility at times.

Dashboard defect.

My entire dash board is melting.the door panels have melted in some areas and cracked in others.car is in excellent condition and wanted to sell it but no one would even look at it with a sticky dashboard that is melting and door panels that all cracking off.lexus says they are not responsible because it is out of warranty. They will discount the replacement of the dashboard at an exuberant charge! this is a manufacture defect, fire hazard.

Hvac evaporator drain blockage resulting in repeated flooded interior and carpet mold.

Over the course of the vehicles life, the interior dash and door panels have become sticky and have began deteriorating. In some cases, parts of the dash have become brittle and broken off. Concern for safety in the event of a crash from flying dash particles.

2006 lexus is 250 awdwith just under 70k miles- noticed that carpeting was soaking wet, with significant water in rear passenger area. Took car to dealership who said that the a/c drain hose was blocked. Lexus has a tsb with a new and improved drain hose, but they did not cover as car was no longer under warranty and they refused to admit that the part was defective.cost to replace drain hose (1700) and replace carpet (2200) for a total of 3900. Lexus agreed to pay 50% as a goodwill gesture, but refused to admit design defect. I disagree with their assertion.

Interior - melting dash and door panels; my dash and door panels are disintegrating for no reason and have been for some time. Looks as if it has melted. All door panels are doing this but the best example is that no one sits in the back of the car. I open the rear doors, panels look as if someone has cut pieces out of it. Panels are just melting and coming apart. (melting and disintegrating interior).

The inside rear view mirror is discolored and is difficult to see clearly from.

I have a 2006 lexus is250, i want to report that my dashboard and door panels are melting and peeling apart. This has been going on for about 4 years now. I know there has been numerous complaints about this, i am also reporting i have the issue.

My dashboard is melting in this texas heat. One day i got into my car during the hot afternoon, this would be an after when we were very close to 100 degrees outside.my fingernail hit the dashboard and took a small chunk out of it. My entire dashboard felt very soft and sticky. Also this same material is on my side doors and you can see where it's melted some and my finger nails have knicked this material as i try to grab the door handle to open the door (drivers side). Now that it's so hot my dashboard and side doors feel very sticky and soft. They are even turning a milky white/grey, which i guess is attributable to the sun.

Dashboard is melting / sticky / cracked. We have concerns for safety with the airbags malfunctioning as a result of the faulty dashboard.

The dashboard on the lexus is 250 is melting and disintegrating leaving a shiny residue that reflects on the windshield while driving in the sun. This shiny residue caused by the melting of the dashboard impairs visibility through the windshield making it dangerous while driving in sunlight. I couldn't see debris that was on the road while driving and hit the debris on the road, this caused me to swerve around and almost hit another vehicle. I'm concerned about this because this shouldn't be happening on a vehicle that is only a few years old. This shine reflection on the windshield is unpredictable as the low visibility only occurs when the sun reflects on the dashboard. I can't predict which direction i will be driving, facing the sun or not, making it dangerous to drive at all times.

Toyota/lexus in early 2015 stated it would extend its warranty for the consoles (front and sides) of certain models including lexus is 250 because they are sticky and melting and disintegrating/crumbling. We starting 2018 soon making it 3 years of waiting for these to be replaced. We receive a brick wall from dealers and corporate lexus when we ask about it--always some general response about back up orders and trying and etc. It seems maybe us consumers could use the assistance of nhtsa to oversee this process and ensure we receive safe consoles in a timely way. I am extremely concerned about the state of the side consoles. The front has been replaced but waiting going on 3 years for side panels. Thank you.

This cars dash and doors are very spongy. They come off with just a fingernail touch.

Beginning some time in sept of 2013 i began to notify lexus corp through jm lexus dealership that my dashboard and side panels were beginning to melt and become sticky. After some persistence jm lexus sent a letter or email requesting lexus corp replace the parts due to defective material being used in the parts. Lexus corp agreed to replace the dash only and that i, the customer, would have to pay for the labor cost of installation. I continued to dispute this but was unable to make contact with anyone who would assist me with the whole process. Finally in march of 2014 the dash had melted so much in front of the drivers side that it was now shiny and very reflective. I decided instead of getting into an accident due to the glare while driving that i would cover the labor cost to get the dash replaced and continue to dispute who should actually have paid that cost. The car went into jm lexus, they replaced the dash and i paid the labor. I took pictures of the dash while in the car and after being pulled out. I then requested for them to hold the dash so i could meet with a lexus representative to discuss the problem. The rep could not make himself available to meet with me but said he would look at the part and the car, then call me. I have not heard or received any information from the rep and i still fully believe this is a hazardous part to anyone who is having the same issue and needs to be fully investigated by ntsb or someone for recall measures before someone is killed in an accident caused by the glare of the melted dash. I realize that my car is a 2006 but, no car dash should melt to the point that it is sticky, soft enough to put your nail into and shiny enough to cause bright glare into the drivers eyes.

The dash of the 2006 lexus is 250 dash board and door handles are melting. It's a glow that sticks on its a factor problem.

The contact owns a 2006 lexus is 250. The contact stated that the dashbard melted and became sticky and shiny. As a result, the reflection of the sunlight caused a glare on the front windshield. The glare distorted the contact's visibility when driving. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000.

Dt*:the contact discovered on a sunny day in march, while washing the vehicle, there were white spots covering the entire vehicle including the headlight covers and windshield.upon inspection, by the dealer, it was determined the windshield, head light covers and all exterior windows needed to be replaced.all exterior panels need to be ground down to the metal and a corrosive protector has to be applied before the vehicle is repainted.the dealer felt a corrosive road material may have caused the problem, although the vehicle has never been driven in such conditions.

Dashboard and all rubber inside of the vehicle gets hot and sticky. My hand and nails sink into the rubber and gets how when there is direct sunlight on the dash and along the front and back doors.all of the rubber parts crack

The contact owns a 2006 lexus is 250. The contact stated that the material covering the dash board was melting. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The failure mileage was 37,000 and the current mileage was 100,000.updated 7/7/14updated 07/14/2014

The contact owns a 2006 lexus is 250. The contact stated that the entire dashboard and four door panels had melted in some areas and exhibited several cracks. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for inspection. The technician informed the contact that the excessive hot weather caused the defect. The vehicle was not repaired.

Both door panels on my 2006 lexus is 250 are melting and producing the stick sticky black tar looking stuff i guess it's from melting and the odor from that is sometimes so strong when i'm on long rides that it may gives me headaches my daughter has burnt her arm because the door panels are so hot to touch and melting and this is usually all year round because of the sun hitting it.

The dash and the door panels they are melting for the heat

Cracked, sticky shiny dash board and door panels, the car still parking on my lote

We recently bought a used lexus is 250 2006, and shortly after buying noticed two huge problems. This is extremely disappointing because, as first time lexus buyers, we were expecting to be impressed by the quality of the lexus brand. Now we're concerned because both of these problems are widely report by othersfrom the hot, sunny south.1. The rear-view mirror is distorted in such a way that it doesn't provide a clear view. We didn't notice this before we bought because the lady we bought it from had a vanity mirror with little diamonds over top of the regular mirror. Since it matched the vanity license tag that she had and since she was an interior designer, we didn't suspect at all that it was covering up a huge safety issue. The vanity mirror obstructed safe driving and it was a horrible mirror, and when i took it off, i found that the lexus mirror underneath was laden with black/brown blotches, making it very difficult to see traffic behind me.2. The melting dash is shiny and creates a glare on the windshield that makes it difficult to clearly see out the front windshield. I didn't notice this on our short test drive before we bought the car, but on my way home from buying the car, it was a bright, sunny day and the glare from the sun shining from the dash and reflecting up onto the windshield was horrible. The glare caused me to reach up to touch the dash to see what was causing the glare and i found the dash tacky and soft. The stickiness is a major concern as well, but the biggest problem is that it is a safety issue.not being able to clearly see out of the front and the back of the vehicle is putting many lives in danger. I hope lexus doesn't wait until there are injuries and deaths reported as a result of these manufacturer's defects. We want to love this brand, but this type of un-recalled defect is causing us to doubt our choice of a lexus vehicle.

The contact owns a 2006 lexus is 250. The contact stated that the dashboard material was deteriorating and caused the surface of the dashboard to become very smooth and shiny. When the sunlight reflected off the damaged dashboard, the glare created a visibility hazard for the driver. The failure was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer were not notified of the failure. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 108,000.

My car was damaged by shipping company (momentum transport) during shipment from tx to va. Damage was done to the front bumper and rear bumper. I contacted the company after receiving the car and was asked to send pics of the damage. I emailed pics of the car before shipping and pics of damage after shipping and have not heard from momentum transport since. I have called and left several messages and sent email and the company continues to ignore me.

The contact owns a 2006 lexus is 250. The contact stated that the vehicle had an abnormal odor and oil was leaking from the panel of all the vehicle doors. The contact stated that the rear passenger and front driver side door panels leaked more oil. The failure occurred without warning. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. There was one injury that required medical attention. The two year old child touched the oil and rubbed it on the face, which resulted in severe coughing and vomiting. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 95,000.

Bought car maybe two weeks ago first day fuel line busted, third day suspension and tires came apart, my electrical components under the hood are mostly fried and worn out could cause for, brake lights uncontrollable

Brand new 2006 lexus is250 rwd started to pull to the right 2 weeks after purchase. Dealer tried alignment but it didn't solve the problem. Tire pressure and wheels alignment are ok.

I have an is250 for four years. In the last few days, i have experienced a vsc and check engine lights on. The car looses power and can't be driven securely once this happens. This had caused almost two accidents for me on the expressway as i drive about 40 miles each way to my office on a daily basis. Due to this problem and the security risk, i took the car to the dealer to get the problem fixed. I paid $100 just to check the car. The dealer said the problem was related with the springs on the valves that probably needed to be replaced. I took the car home as i did not have the $4k to repair this. On 7/5/10, i opened an incident with lexus corporation and the very next day i saw on the news the recall on this issue. I followed up with lexus on 7/6/10 about this and they stated they were looking into this. I followed up again on 7/9/10 (i called this time) and they said they would call me back but none called back so i took the car to the dealership as i felt it was happening more often and was very unsecured to drive. The dealer stated my particular model was not part of the new recall and did not care much about my safety. I sent a follow up email on 7/15/10 to lexus corporation and they said again they would get back to me. I called again today as i have not heard back from them. Our security is impacted driving this car and does not seem that lexus corporation is even interested into listening a security concern from a consumer at this time. Please let us know what we can do to get this security risk mitigated for my family and myself. Thanks.

Wife was driving on the interstate with the cruise on doing about 65 mph, and she decided to pass a truck.she accellerated slightly, and the car suddenly "floored" to over 90 mph and the rpm's went all the way up.she truned off the cruise, but it wouldn't slow down.she tried to brake, but the engine was still reving at the highest speed.she forced herself off into the grassy median and sat on the brake until she could jam the transmission into park and turn off the engine.veh towed to lexus dealer.tech couldn't figure out what was causing this, but after talking to lexus headquarters, they found that the rubber car mat and the back of the accellerator somehow connected and forced the car to be "floored". You could not tell by looking at the mat that it was connected to the accellerator.my wife would of died if there had been another vehicle close to her.no accident or injury.i have no complaint with the dealer.they did everything they could to help.

Melting dash and all doors peeling of in places and dash is almost completely melted in places . Every wheel sensor went out on the same day and air light stuck on now..

Purchased car a year ago noticed that when it gets really hot the dash board and the door panels comes off if scraped with finger nails and the dash is very sticky.

Toyota and lexus v6 cold start engine rattle ' 2gr/3gr/4gr previousnexttoyota and lexus v6 cold start engine rattle ' 2gr/3gr/4grthe first cold start of the morning some toyota and lexus v6 owners, especially those who have the 2.5l or 3.5l v6, notice a loud rattle the first few seconds after startup.the noise disappears after the car builds oil pressure.the most common cause is the variable valve timing camshaft gear assembly leaking down oil pressure as it sits.what is this part and what should you do if you experience these symptoms?the variable valve timing system allows the engine to benefit from timing that can change as the engine dictates ' it's like having many different styles of camshaft at the ready.at a steady freeway cruising speed?the variable valve timing acts like an exhaust gas recirculation system, helping to reduce engine emissions.going for a spirited drive?the timing ramps itself up, aggressively advancing the intake cam to help speed air and fuel into the cylinders to give you the most powerful combustion it can muster.both intake and both exhaust camshafts are independently controlled by individual valves that flow oil into and out of the camshaft gears, advancing and retarding the camshaft's timing as dictated by the engine's computer.oil pressure is used to move internal phasers in the cam gears, allowing them infinite variations of position.below is a photo of a variable camshaft gear opened up:vvt timing gear lexus is 250 2006 has the same issue how come there is no recall

The interior dash and panels are sticky and can not be cleaned. They also emit a foul smelling odor.

Solenoids in my car is causing my car to go into limp mode due to the fact that lexus states transmission fluid never needs to be changed is now having me buying a new transmission because the solenoids are bad and is stuck in 3rd gear.

I never received a recall on the dashboard or door dash inside my car. It not omly looks bad it is sticky and oerls with any touch. Lexus should replace this issue for all owners late or missed. Lexus represents luxury well leaving cars like this is representing the opposite. Lexus take care of your customers. Car was this way

I am the recipient of a minimum of (2) warranty enhancement program notices - zld regarding any cracked and/or sticky/melting dashboards and front & rear interior door panels.the dealership has indicated to me that the parts are on national backorder yet i have been waiting for more than 20 months for this repair.the material is now falling off my car when the doors close and is also coming off on my hands and clothing.the dealership continues to state month after month that i am 13th in line for the dashboard replacement with absolutely no movement from the 13th position, again, after months in the same position.dealership indicates there is no position on the door panels as they've received no materials to date. How much longer will i have to wait before the repairs are completed?i am quite concerned that the secondary coverage (extension) provided in the letter is about to expire in less than 6 months at which point i will be stuck with the mess and the repair cost.

Takata recall. My light airbag light is turned on and will not go away from dashboard. The door paneling is falling apart just by normal use.

Sticky dash and door panels

Thank you.

Check vsc light. Car will not shift properly past 3rd gear.. Solenoid or bad transmission

My entire dash board is melting. The door panels have melted in some areas and cracked in others. Car is in excellent condition and wanted to sell it but no one wld even look at it with a sticky dashboard that is melting and door panels that all cracking off. Lexus says they are not responsible because it is out of warranty. They will discount the replacement of the dashboard at an exuberant charge! this is a manufacture defect

I have contacted my local lexus dealership and cannot get any help with the takata recall, door panel recalls, and any other recall issue.i have been trying for the last year and half.

The contact owns a 2006 lexus is250. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds she has experienced unexpected acceleration on seven different occasions. Each time the vehicle was inspected by a dealer and they advised her that would place a device in the vehicle so that if unattended acceleration was to occur the brakes would override it. The vehicle was repaired for the overriding of the acceleration. She has taken it in each time after each failure and they advised her that there was nothing wrong. The failure mileage was unknown.

While the vehicle was traveling 25 mph the contact attempted to brake and noticedthat the vehicle had suddenly surged forward .the contact had to turn off the vehicle in order to stop the acceleration.

Lexus fast acceleration in my car. It has happened 4 or 5 times in my 2006 lexus is 250, which i bought new. At first, i thought it was my fault since i usually wear wide athletic shoes. I thought that i was touching both the brake and accelerator and mentioned it to my sister, who works for a lexus dealer. She told me that they were coming out with a letter about the floor mats causing the problem. I took the driver's side floor mat out of my car. I checked the clearance and it was about 2 inches. My brother, who was the former chairman of the board of engineers at westinghouse, told me that it sounded like a computer problem. I changed my driving shoes to get some thin sole, narrow puma's. It has happened once since then. I usually only use the lexus for long trips, and most of the problems happened when i was parking the car after driving a long way. Without thinking what to do, i just put the car into neutral or if i wasn't moving, i'd shift it into park. Turn the engine off. Then, i would restart it and it was ok. I was a bit shaky and my wife thought i was nuts. Around town, i drive my old 1996 toyota tacoma truck. Never had a problem with it. I bought it new and still use it every day.

The contact owns a 2006 lexus is250.while driving the vehicle it rapidly increased its speed up to 90 mph . He attempted to remove the floor- mat from under the accelerator pedal. However, the vehicle veered off of the road and then into a ditch.when the vehicle rolled over, one occupant was ejected from the front seat; since he was not wearing a seat belt. The other three passengers had bruises lacerations, and were hospitalized.the vehicle was completely destroyed. A police report was available. The failure mileage was 24,000.updated 05/10/10 updated 05/13/10. Updated 9/29/2011*cw

The contact owns a 2006 lexus is250. While driving 5 mph the vehicle suddenly accelerated and crashed into a garage.the contact applied the brakes but the vehicle would not slow down.the contact called the manufacturer and the stated that the floor mats caused the vehicle to accelerate.the contact stated that the floor mats were removed at the time of the crash. The contact stated that the vehicle was unsafe to drive and the floor mats had nothing to do with the vehicle accelerating. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 19,500.

In light of the recently announced safety recall for this vehicle, we felt compelled to inform you of the following incidents involving the referenced automobile:'on or about april 2008 we had just left our house and traveled about two miles when we stopped at a red light. With the vehicle in gear and my foot on the brake, i felt the car attempting to surge forward. I applied greater pressure on the brake pedal and was able to keep the car from moving. This surging did not repeat itself at any other stops that day.'on or about february 27, 2009, my wife had just left costco in our city and traveled aboutmile where she stopped at a red light prior to making a left turn. While waiting for the green light, the car suddenly stopped dead; the engine had unexpectedly shut itself off with the car in gear. She attempted to re-start the car several times to no avail. The police was called who in turn called aaa. While waiting for aaa to arrive, she attempted to re-start the vehicle one last time and was surprised to find that it did start successfully. The approximate time between the car's engine dying and being restarted was about 15 minutes. This has never repeated; however, my wife has noticed the engine idling fast while the car was stopped on several occasions. We brought the car into putnam lexus for inspection on march 6, 2009, where they were unable to duplicate the problem.'on september 2, 2009, we had just exited the freeway when we stopped at the first stop light. The car's engine began idling fast and then began idling rough. With my foot on the brake pedal, i glanced at the tachometer and noticed that the needle was not steady as it normally is but the rpms were fluctuating between a bit higher than normal and a bit lower than normal. This behavior has repeated sporadically on a number of occasions.we do not believe the floor mat caused the above incidents. We have only used the lexus floor mats that came with the vehicle and the anchor.

The contact owns a 2006 lexus is250. While the contact was approaching a stop sign with his foot on the brake pedal, the vehicle suddenly accelerated forward which caused the contact to rear ended the vehicle in front of him. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who informed him to remove the mats from the vehicle. There were no prior warnings. The current and failure mileages were 70000.updated 1/5/10 updated01/06/10.

The contact owns a 2006 lexus is 250. While driving 50 mph the accelerator pedal was stuck under the floor mat. As a consequence, he had to shift the vehicle into park to decelerate which caused a truck to crash into the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle was extensively damaged. There were no injuries. An authorized technician stated that the failure was not caused by a defect. The vehicle identification number was unavailable. The failure and current mileages were 35000. The material used on dash board has softened from normal sun exposure and formed shiny top layer that causes a glare in the windshield when the sun hits it. This has obscured vision of oncoming traffic.

Visibility:rearview mirrors/devices:interiori currently own a 2006 lexus is250. About a year ago, i noticed several splotches on the rearview mirror. Initially there were only a few, but the splotches increased to the point that it is now impossible to use the rearview mirror which interferes with rear visibility and normal driving conditions. This situation can increase the possibility of an accident since it becomes impossible to see anything thru the rearview mirror. The vehicle was taken to the only lexus authorized dealer in puerto rico and i was informed that i had to pay for all charges since the vehicle was already out of warranty. This is a potential safety issue which should be covered by lexus, regardless if the vehicle is on warranty or not.

Rear view mirror foggy

The inside rear view mirror is discolored and is difficult to see clearly from.

The dashboard material has begun to melt creating a shiny spot in front the drivers side and creates a glare in the windhsield reducing visibility at times.

Rear view mirror on my 2006 is250 lexus has "streaks and splotches" which create blind spots - a serious safety issue. The dealer stated that it our vehicle was no longer under warranty, but admitted that it is a common problem. A quick search on the internet confirms that this is a common complaint.replacing the mirror at a dealership is expensive, and given that it is likely a manufacturing defect, there should be a recall and remedy.please investigate.

Dashboard is deteriorating, melting, and becoming very sticky and shiny causing glare on windshield.door panels are also breaking down.

The contact owns a 2006 lexus is250. The contact stated that the rearview mirror developed abnormal black stains, obstructing his visibility of the roadway. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but since the vehicle was no longer under warranty, they refused to provide any assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 120,000 and the current mileage was 125,000.

The rear view mirror on my 2006 lexus is250 is hard to see out of because there is something that looks like rust behind the glass. I did some research online, and there are several complaints and pictures with mirrors that look the same as mine. I am not certain what causes this to happen but it appears to be a defect in at least the 2006-2007 series of lexus from what i have researched.

The rear view mirror on my lexus is 250 has developed black lines and black spots on the mirror so severe that i cannot even see out of the rear view mirror. I have researched on the internet and found out that thousands of other lexus owners are experiencing the same problem.when you cannot see out of your rear view mirror because of the black spots and black lines you now are subject to blind spots that could cause deadly accidents.these defective rear view mirrors should be replaced by lexus. The contact owns a 2006 lexus is250. The contact stated that the rear view mirror had splotches on it which interfered with her vision while she was driving. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was informed that the failure was an internal defect in the mirror. The dealer stated that they may be able to work with the owner regarding the repair expenses. The vehicle had not been repaired. The current and failure mileages were approximately 84,000.

On june 20, 2006,i bought a 2006 lexus is250 awd. My purchase was based on the excellent reputation of lexus and the outstanding reviews of this model in particular. I have been greatly disappointed on both counts.i discovered that when the moon roof is open, the rearview mirror vibrates so dramatically that it is useless and as a result creates an unsafe driving condition. I immediately reported this to the dealership where i bought the car (ramsey) and was asked to bring the car in for their inspection. On 9/21/06, i did and when i returned to pick up the car, i was told it was fixed. When i drove out, the same condition existed. I spoke with the service manager. I brought the car back on 10/9 and the service department was unable to resolve the problem. I spoke with the service manager again his recommendation was to give him time to research the problem with lexus headquarters engineering and since i needed to bring the car for routine service inthree months, i could bring it back and he would have the resolution then. On 1/19/07, i did return the car for routine service and to have the mirror vibration remedied. Although the service department attempted some other "fix", the mirror remains the same. I was subsequently told by the service manager that there isn't a way to fix this problem and that i wasn't the only owner experiencing this. I was told that the engineers were working on it. When i asked how long this would take, i was told it could be two months or a year. He had no way of knowing.i then called lexus headquarters customer service on 2/11 to voice my complaint. The company response was that there is no solution to my problem and that the engineering department is aware of the problem but have no time frame for a solution.i wanted to make you aware of this serious safety issue with the 2006 lexus is 250 awd.
