There was a recall on my vehicle. The dashboard is all cracked but my problem is that i drive my kids and there is a recall problem with side curtain-shield-airbags (csas) which deploy from the roof rails in the event of certain types of crashes. I had call 2 different lexus and the headquaters and they all them me different things. I just want the dashboard and airbags to be fix as this is a family bag.

Vehicle had been parked all night, put key in ignition turned key to 'on' passenger side curtain air bag deployed. Vehicle was not running and was not moving, shift was in "park".

After a short time of buying my wife's gx470, a small crack appeared in the dash on the passenger side airbag location. At the time we didn't think much about it as my wife stated it was more like a line in the dash. Through the years of ownership theses cracks have grown, and now the entire dash is cracked all the way across. We have taken our vehicle to the dealership after it was out of factory warranty and they state that now there is nothing they can do.we take exceptional care of her car and always park it in the garage. The dealership once stated that the probable problem was sun related, but that statement didn't make sense, and this issue really upsets me since lexus seems to have a wide-spread problem with these dash cracking issues. I even found this topic being discussed in length in this lexus forum:http://www.clublexus.com/forums/gx-first-generation/427349-cracked-dashboard.htmlthe dealer finally did offer to replace the dash if i paid for the labor, which was like $800. I don't believe we should have to pay for a known defect in these dashes. It now appears more clearly that this is a safety issue, being that it is in the airbag location. I am requesting that lexus steps up to the plate and replace our dash due to this safety issue.

The car has been subject to 2 recalls.first, a recall for the self-destructing dashboard and for the curtain shield airbags. The company has refused to provide me with the part in order to proceed to a replacement of the affected parts.

Numerous cracks have appeared all over the dashboard, including over the passenger airbag.

My 2004 lexus gx470 is garage kept and the dash has several cracks.one around the instrument panel andone above the air conditioning vents and one the passenger side.i keep my dash conditioned and my car is very well maintained.despite my efforts the cracks continue to get worse.this started a few years ago and continues to progress. I am afraid that will effect the integrity of the airbags should they deploy.

My vehicle was purchased from a local lexus dealership in january 2008 and since then has been garaged during the day at my office and garaged overnight in my building's enclosed parking structure.the vehicle rarely sat in the sun for extended periods of time, but in november 2012, cracks on the passenger side dash began appearing.they were razor thin and by the end of 2013, the entire passenger side dash was covered in cracks, directly above the air bag.the lexus dealership explained that since the vehicle was out of warranty and there was no open recall, any repair would be at my expense, which would be approximately $2,500.i searched multiple online forums (clublexus.com, lexusownersclub.com) and this same premature cracking of the gx470 dash was being experienced by hundreds of owners.i also own a lexus ls430 and i have treated it exactly like my gx470, but thankfully the ls has not exhibited any dash cracking.i feel that the gx470 dash cracking issue is a safety risk, since the integrity of the dash is being compromised and it may negatively effect the functioning of the vehicle air bags.i feel that this problem is due to poor quality materials and that lexus should provide a replacement at no cost to the vehicle owner.

Brakes totally failed while descending a steep incline on a city/ state highway causing loss of control and impact with a tree. Air bags failed to deploy.

Speedometer and tachometer gauges do not work properly. When the vehicle is turned on, will either activate right away or flicker or do nothing.this is an intermittent problem and is hard to diagnose or even fix. Have seen on lexus forums this is a common problem and seems many of us are driving "speed blind". I have already had the cluster sent out and "repaired", only to have problem come back. I feel this problem is dangerous and the manufacturer needs to be held accountable.

The contact owns a 2004 lexus gx470. He experienced a recurring failure in which the brakes would engage while driving at any speed and the vehicle would pull towards the right.during the failure the vsc light also illuminated on the dashboard. The vehicle wastaken to an authorized dealer on four occasions who stated thatthe vehicle was operating as normal. The vehicle was not repaired and the failure continued to occur intermittently. The failure mileage was 70,000. The current mileage was 90,000.

Problem with vsc on my 2004 lexus gx470. I was driving from a ski resort on snow covered road at approx 35-37 mph. The front right wheel hit a pothole and the rear of the vehicle shot sideways and we were headed off the road to the right, then traction control or something kicked in and we shot into oncoming traffic. I tried to steer back into our lane and the rear left again sent us into a sideways skid across the right lane and headed off of the road until the right rear hit a pole. The car continued to move and shot us back into the right traffic lane and i was able to finally gain control and pull over. I had no control of the vehicle and we veered back and forth across the highway for several yards. I have driven in winter conditions for years and have been in slides before, but never where the car changed direction and veered back and forth instead of maintaining the slide trajectory. I am convinced that the sensors are wrong or something is wrong with the vsc and reported my concern to my insurance company and also to the lexus dealership. I took the vehicle to lexus and had them run full diagnostic, including zero point/yaw rate.they reported that there were no issues with the vsc. The tires and brakes checked out too. I have only had this vehicle serviced by lexus, even oil changes. I have been searching this site and others for similar esc/vsc complaints and have found a few, then when the announcement about the vsc problems with the new lexus gx came out, i knew i should report this. There should be an investigation of all lexus gx vsc systems - whether they develop flaws over time or if there is some issue inherent with the system that causes the uncontrolled skids.this is the second time the car has gone into an uncontrolled slide - the first time there were no damages.

The contact owns a 2004 lexus gx470. The contact stated that the front brake calipers locked causing vibration when the brakeswere applied. The front brake pads were worn and uneven. The brake calipers pistons were ceasing. The radiator coil and the front sv joint drive shaft also leaked continuously. The control system lights remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who did not duplicate or confirm any of the failures. The contact was concerned that due to the failure that the warranty would expire and then he would be responsible for the repairs. The manufacturer was contacted and offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 80,000.

The contact owns a 2004 lexus gx470.the contact heard a loud noise coming from the vehicle. The dealer advised the contact that there were no recalls and offered no further assistance.the manufacturer had not been notified.the vehicle was taken to a private mechanic who informed the contact that the heat shield had detached from the vehicle because the bolts were worn.no repairs were performed.the current and failure mileages were 120,000.a local repair shop informed the consumer, the heat shield located above the muffler had fallen off and was trapped between the muffler and the floor pan of the vehicle.the vibration noise heard was the heat shield rattling on the muffler itself.updated 06/05/12

My wife was driving our suv and was attempting to park it in a bank parking lot in niles, il. The suv accelerated suddenly without my wife pressing the gas pedal causing her to drive over a green space, hit a sign on bank's property, drive over a large bush and a wire fence at an adjacent park and finally stop after repeatedly pressing the brake pedal. We towed the car to the lexus dealership and from there to a body shop. We had the car for 8 years and this is the first time that this issue occurred. A police report was filed and the damage was assessed by our insurance company.

There is a huge crack in the dash that has been reported by many gx drivers and is obviously a fault in lexus' manufacturing.

I have a 2004 gx470 suv.today i was in a parking lot, trying to back out and leave.with one foot on the accelerator, i found it stuck, which was odd, as i had not experienced it before.so i pressed on it again, i thought, lightly.i was taken completely by surprise, as i seemed to have flown backwards, as i have a v8 engine, my acceleration was quick and my car immediately rammed into 2 parked cars behind me.i was in a state of shock and very scared, since it was so fast and sudden.has anyone else experienced anything like this before?thank you.

1. My dash board has cracked, i took it to woodfield lexus in chicago, they did some patch work, but now more cracks have appeared and i feel it may interfere with airbags.http://www.clublexus.com/forums/gx-first-generation/603916-my-dashboard-is-cracking.htmlby going though the forums, it seems cost of replacing 1200 to 3000 dollars is a lot of money for the part which should not crack in the first place. Obviously it is defective material, lexus has been using to make dashboards2. Chrome plating on my wheels is coming off badly.

Arriving at the bank drive through, i pulled the driver's side sun visor down and all the interior lights and dash lights went out.later, after my husband investigating the problem, he found that the problem was a short circuit in the sun visor wiring.he had to remove the sun visor from the roof to prevent the fuse from burning every time the visor is moved.this prevents me from using the visor when the sun is directly in my eyes.if i leave the visor in, the fuse for the interior lighting will burn and result in the loss of lights and trip meter functionality.i still have the visor but my husband says it is not repairable.
