On 4/13/2010, consumer reports released test results on a 2010 lexus gx 460 indicating the suv should not be purchased due to rollover safety issues caused by a defective electronic stability control device. On 3/30/2010, i leased a 2010 gx 460 from lexus.i am now afraid to drive it and would like to return it.
After feeling that my brakes hadn't worked properly at a stop light (i almost skid through it), i was traveling about 35 mph around a curve and lightly pressed on the brakes to make sure i would slow down.unbelievably, my brakes completely failed and i actually believe i sped up while at the same time my steering went out of control. I was unable to control or stop the car.after a few seconds i was able to pull off to the right and mud slowed me down enough to come to a stop. It was a truly petrifying experience and the tow truck driver confirmed that my brakes were completely non-functioning when he had to use the emergency brake to get my car on his truck. Lexus claimed that they could find nothing wrong with the car, however, which i find to be extremely disturbing. I pray that they do not attempt to resell or lease this car.
2010 lexus gx 460 driven by my wife.at approx 30 mph the brakes were applied hard to avoid a car changing lanes and the vehicle entered an immediate left skid without wheels skidding due to braking.the brake pressure was released when a it was apparent a collision would be avoided and the vehicle made a violent jerking return to straight travel.this occurred on dry pavement and easily could have led to a serious accident.no accident happened only due to my wife's driving skills.appears the stability control did not work as advertised.
