I drive a 2006 lexus gs300 that is having a problem with the exterior headlight randomly turning off while i am driving.this can be very dangerous and i have already received one ticket for this.i see there are many other people on here complaining about the exact same problem and i don't understand why an investigation has not been opened.this exact same problem happened to what im assuming was my other side, about a year ago.it was very expensive to fix, i think it cost me about $1500 at the lexus dealership. I definitely cant afford to pay that right now and not to mention i already got a ticket for this.i have been trying not to drive my car at night but it is very inconvenient. Are there any alternative methods i could use as a temporary fix until i can get this fixed?
Car would not start after pulling into gas station. Towed to local mechanic. Electrical connector on top of fuel pump burned through plastic top of fuel pump. When connector unhooked from wire harness fuel leaked out of tank unto top of fuel pump. Replaced fuel pump. Photos attached.
Takara recall. While coming to a complete stop between 0-20mph the car jerks harshly.i noticed if i put the car in neutral it wont jerk.
I own a 2006 lexus gs300 with currently 80,000 miles and for the past 2 months, the headlights seem to turn itself off while driving..sometimes it would be the driver side, other times it would be the passenger side, and often it would be both headlights - a complete blackout!ihave to turn the light switch off and on for it to work again (for another few minutes and it would turn itself off again). I've been high beamed and honked at several times. It doesn't matter if the headlights are in automatic or manual mode.its been very frustrating dealing with this problem. I love my car but i don't want put me, my kids, or anyone else's life in danger should my headlights go out or get pulled over bythe police!!! please someone help!! i feel like i cant be driving my car at night if this problem keeps happening!!! do a recall please!!is it really worth someone losing their life over??
The contact owns a 2006 lexus gs300.the contact stated that she received three separate recall letters from the manufacturer for the electrical system, rear brake calipers, and the fuel delivery pipes.the dealer advised that it would take a week for the parts to arrive for the repairs.the contact was also informed that it would take an additional week for the actual repairs to be completed.she was concerned that the recall was initiated due to a defect and possible safety related issue; however, the dealer was not equipped with the necessary parts for the recall repair.the nhtsa campaign id numbers were unknown.the current and failure mileages were less than 20,000.
My 2006 gs300 has been having the same problem, intermittent headlight, for over a year. Dealers do not want to admit the issue. It is scary when both lights go off in the highway at night. I am trying to find out how i can get the lexus to issue a recall for this problem. I am thinking to got my lawyer involved. My email is [xxx] i am thinking to create a list of owners who are experiencing this issue and collectively request for a recall. Please feel free to contact me with any comment or suggestion.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
Driver side headlight goes out shortly after being turned on.i had this same issue about 3 to 4 months ago with my passenger side headlight.the dealer says that they replaced the wires and housing on the passenger side headlight since they could not verify the exact issue. I am concerned that this is a electrical issue. My car is a 2006 lexus gs 300.
When i was driving at night, all of a sudden driver side headlight (low beam) turned off and i was driving with one light all alone. I tried switching on and off but still didn't resolved. Next day morning both lights were glowing but the driver side light went off after 10-15 min. Then i turned off and on, it came back. Not sure whether its a faulty light bulb or something else.
As i was driving one evening both headlights turned off alone.i turned the knob off and on and they restarted, but now continue to turn off intermittently.sometimes one sometimes both after different amounts of time.i have had the bulbs replaced but the problem still persists.
Lexus gs 300:headlamp goes out!vehicle was serviced four separate times by the dealer. With each repair visit the dealer responded the same way. We cannot replicate the problem, can't fix it until we can.the vehicle has been returned four times to the owner with the headlamp not working. Four separate visits to the lexus dealerships during a nine month period generated the same response.first the headlamp was replaced. Two days later the same problem occurred.the headlamp went out while the vehicle was being driven at night. Headlamp problems are known to exist, however lexus keeps no records of owner reported headlamp problems on their maintenance records. My dealership record shows no record of the vehicle ever being serviced for problems beyond the original headlamp replacement.all attempts to have lexus corporate re-purchase the vehicle has been refused, first by vaughn wendelstaph, then paulette criss, vp. How many fatal crashes due to a lexus failed headlamps are required before lexus takes responsibility for the defect, recalls the vehicles, and removes the safety hazard from the road?lexus has offered to waste more of my time and continue to guess at what the problem might be and replace random parts until they get it right. In the meantime i'm told to continue to drive this moving hazard and putting myself, my family, and all other passengers at risk. I urge all lexus owners having a lexus lemons headlamp safety or other road hazard problem.blog your response to lexuslemons.com. Updated 09/04/09

When making right hand turns and applying heavy throttle, engine braking or torque management engages causing the car to forcefully resist acceleration. Happens on wet or snowy roads or dry conditions. This control system also keeps the rear wheels turning when braking in slippery/snowy and icy conditions, even when completely stopped. I've almost been hit several times when trying to merge into heavy traffic in right hand turns. Flooring it causes the car to basically try to stop itself. The snowy conditions issue has causes my car to try to slide to the right, into a ditch or other car several times in one 15 minute trip, to where i took the car and parked it due to being so afraid. I'm a veteran in driving in snow, so this isn't a driver issue. I wouldn't expect this out of any brand of car, especially a lexus.
While bringing the car to a stop, i am experiencing a very hard downshift from 2nd gear to 1st gear. This hard downshift is so abrupt that it feels as ifyou were rear ended.research shows this being an electronic failure in the electronic control module backed with hundreds of complaints of this exact issue to this particular year, make and model. In several cases, mentions of a class action lawsuit against toyota/lexus have been mentioned. It's a costly, yet unnecessary repair caused by a flawed design within the electronic componentry.. Considering the reoccurrence of this issue on a mass scale, it may be one best addressed via recall.
I received a recall a few years ago pertaining to the engine leaking oil. The car leaks 4 quarts of full synthetic oil monthly. How do i go about getting my vehicle fixed? i would like to take it to lexus mcgrath in chicago to have them repair my engine. Thank you.

When i go to apply the brakes or of i'm coasting slow, the car jerks twice(once while the car is slowing down, and a harder jerk right before the car stops) every lexus forum i visited where people had 2006 lexus gs300 awd's(with the same exact symptoms), they were mis-diagnosed being told it was their transmission, when in actuality it was their ecu that needed to be replaced. That is a computer failure, so i don't understand why there aren't recalls on this.
I purchased my vehicle (used) in 2014.i have experienced a rebuilt transmission ($4200), new alternator and now i'm currently experience oil consumption.my car is burning oil at-at-a rapid pace.i have replaced my oil two times in two months.my mechanic has informed me that it's the engine (manufacturer issue) and it is due to carbon build up due to a standard for this make, model and year.it's burning alot of oil that is causing the build up in the engine.it was advised that i should replace the engine (who can afford that) or have it rebuilt.if this a manufacturer defect it is not the responsibility of the owner.this is myonly vehicle and i'm a mother of two young children.it's very unsafe for me to drive and is jerking; while i drive.i just topped off my oil again this weekend; due to the oil light coming on.i only have 146,461 miles on the vehicle.that's very low for a 13-year old car.this is my second lexus and it's very troubling to not only read this common problem for this year, and model car.lexus are usually reliable vehicles.
Rusting of exhaust y pipe and catalytic converters
Vehicle is burning through oil at accelerated rate. There are no oil leak markings from vehicle after vehicle is parked however, low engine oil light comes on within 1000 miles of oil change. The rate of this has been accelerating in the last year. The dealership (kuni lexus) has inspected it, notified us of some sort of a recall which had an expiration date related to this issue. How can a recall expire? how come i was never notified?

Took my wife's car to jiffy lube in kent wa 98032 and the for got to put oil in the engine so we contacted the jiffy lube corp..and they came out did the walk around inspection did and took pictures. That's all.well my rings in the engine are blown because of no oil. So we took the car back to the jl and the worker said if we had any problems they jiffy lube would take care of any problems. ..so i do have the denial letter.thank you [xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
The engine is going through about 4 quarts a month i was told it was a recall on the motor but i seem not to find one
Engine consumes excess oil before interval services. Engine consumed approximately 5 quarts of total engine oil at 3,000 miles after latest oil change. Engine oil capacity is 6.3 quarts with filter replacement. No leaks have been observed. No blue smoke to rule out engine oil burn indicators. Engine dip stick shows signs of oil reduction after oil change. Checked oil levels after 1,000 miles and again at 3,000 miles. After 3,000 miles, oil is below the recommended intervals to almost non-existent on dipstick. Excess engine oil consumption without adequate knowledge of mechanics poses extreme threat to consumer safety and assets. Have researched 2006 gs 300 known issues - this is one of them. No repairs and/or fixes have been provided by lexus usa, or toyota usa.
I have problem with my lexus gs300 129000 miles, engine run roughly at idle and it burns oil like crazy, every 1000 miles i add about 2.5 q of oil. Looks like its carbon build-up issue on interior valves and components , i'm scared vehicle can stall. Dealer don't want to do anything about that because it's out of warranty already. Please help.

"p2757 torque converter clutch pressure control solenoid control circuit performance or stuck off "which causes the engine to stall while driving or when pulling in reverse.very unsafe to drive .
Excessive oil consumption. Vehicle burns 3 1/2 qts of oil or more every 1500 miles. Causing my plugs to foul out and check engine code (0300) multiple cylinder misfire causing car to have sluggish acceleration. I took car in to charles barker lexus and was charged a diag fee and then told the car is burning oil internally and would be $4100 plus parts for further diag.lexus offered a customer support program for stated issues for 9 years w/ no mileage limitations of which i was never informed of and was within time frame to qualify.at the time i was unaware of the program and now lexus is telling me my vin # does not fall under that program and my vehicle is experiencing all of the identical issues.also transmission solenoid failed causing hard jolt when slowing down before stopping. Fixed solenoid only to then have to replace cars computer. The transmission repair mechanic informed me of the ongoing problems with lexus transmissions and computer failure for the 2006 gs 300 as well as a class action law suite that was filed because of the same issues excessive oil consumption.i have since contacted lexus informing them of my issues and they decline to address my issues telling me that my vehicle vin # does not fall under any recalls.i have spent over $2000 replacing the transmission solenoid and i had the cars computer rebuilt vs spending the additional money to replace it.lexus denies the issues stated that is well documented on the forums pages and refuses to refund me for monies spent as well as refuses to address excessive oil consumption issues when they just settled a class action lawsuit for the same issues stated and offered a customer support program to pay for the cost of repairs for a period of 9 yrs with no mileage limitations.i have documentation for my repairs and looking for assistance in what action i need to take for this matter.
Vehicle is burning through oil at a fast rate.there are no oil leak markings from vehicle after vehicle is parked.there is no smoke from the vehicle but continues to burn oil at a fast rate.
Faulty ecu computer resulting in hard jerk when shifting between first and second gear. The engine repair unit goes bad after 100,000 miles. Multiple vehicles reported the issue after experiencing fuel induction problems and oil loss related to bad .gaskets. Car started jerking on the highway cause a rear end bumper collision while intraffic.
The contact owns a 2006 lexus gs300. While driving approximately 30 mph, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was restarted and driven to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that the coolant was unable to get to the engine, which caused it to overheat and blow the head gasket. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 97,000.updated 02/02/15*ljthe consumer stated the clamp holding the hose from the radiator to the engine failed. The manufacturer did not offer any assistance. Updated 6/8/2015
My 2006 lexus gs300 is consuming oil. I have taken the car to the lexus dealer 4 times. The car is still under warranty and there is not anything being done to correct the problem. I purchased the car in august 2008. This problem occurred 18 months after i purchased the car.i continue to get sent away without an answer to the problem.from my research the problem are the rings. One of the lexus technicians accidentally stated that the last time i took the car in. The car is consuming 1-2 pints of oil a month. There has not been anything done to correct the problem.
On february 9, 2006, the fourth occurrence occurred. Each time, there was a strong smell of sulfur in the car with the windows closed. A day or a few days later, the check engine light went on (check vsc).i am concerned that there may also be carbon monoxide in the car at the same time.the dealer/service manager indicates that there is fuel in the engine oil. I do not know if it is safe to operate a brand new vehicle with fuel in the engine oil. Attempts have been made to correct the problem, parts replaced, but the problem has recurred four times with 1494 miles on the odometer.
Engine oil leak, check engine light, dealer unable to correct problem with engine oil leaks.
Jan 06, 2011 - san diego, ca. - exterior lightingthe driver and passenger front headlamps turn off intermittently. They can be turned on again by switching them on and off. This is happens for no apparent reason, in dry or wet conditions. I replaced the driver side headlamp assembly which was turning off very frequently. Problem still exist as seems to be getting worse.
Hello, i have a lexus gs300 awd. Purchased brand-new. The headlights are very low. I took in the first week and they said adjusted them, but still the same troubles. Then the headlight completely turns off. I again take in it under warranty and they replace the light bulb. Still the same problem. I complained over and over. Still nothing. I still drove the car since new with the faulty headlights until this day. Last week on monday oct. 3 2011.. I went out to get milk for kids around 8pm, i drove up to the a local store and turning into the parking lot, mind you my headlights only let me see only about 6 feet in front of the car. I started to turn and almost hit a kid riding his bike home. I slammed on the brakes and steered towards the curb. I freaked out!! i almost hit a 12 year old boy because my headlights!! these headlights are the worst i've seen on a car! i had over 15 cars and never have i seen this problem before. What if i hit this kid or even worst, killed him! who's to blame? the dealer who fixed them 3 times and they still factory setting. Factory setting is wrong. These headlights are dangerous ! we owned 9 lexus cars and trucks and only the gs300 has the problem. I don't understand why there isn't a recall. Every lexus form has every complaining about the headlights! i refuse to drive this car at night. I'm planning on selling it or trading it in., regardless if someone gets my car they will same the problem. I have 2 kids, what if my kids are riding bikes or your kids and someone else doesn't see them due to poor headlights. I honestly don't believe this car isn'tsafe to be on the road. Headlights are very important. The dealer adjusted them 3 times. Please help us the people, your friends and loved ones be safe. God bless us all! thank you !!
Low beam headlights (afs) will start flickering and then turn off without no apparent reason. Sometimes it will be only one, sometimes both.dealer says it could be either the bulbs, the ecu unit in the headlight or the control system.this started happening way before the 50k warranty but dealer denied any repairs as they could not "reproduce" the problem.a few nights ago i ran over a dog because of the poor visibility. I have stopped using this car at night because of the hazard to me and my family.
For about 5 months now i have noticed the driver's headlight going off by itself. At first i thought if i just turn on the light i wouldn't have that problem because the problem seem to happen when i twist the light on all the way to auto. If i turn the light switch off and on the headlight does turn back on. It mostly happens with the front driver's light but last week my passengers side turned off!!! i had just taken my car to the dealership today to get maintenance done. I told them to look into that problem i was having hoping i would get good news in return. However i didn't. They said i would have to bring the car in when the headlight goes out in order for them to access the issues. But how can i bring my vehicle in when the service department closes at 5:30pm?!! it's been very frustrating dealing with this problem. I love my car but i don't want put my life in danger should my headlights go out or get pulled over by chp!!! please someone help!! i feel like i can't be driving my car at night if this problem keeps happening!!! do a recall please!!

I bought a brought new lexus in december 2005.the headlights go off intermittently.most of the time, it is the passenger's side.however, the driver's side will occasionally turn off, too.i have had both of them go off at night which was very scary since the road we were traveling was dark.i had to drive about a quarter of mile without lights.when i reached a lighted area, i flicked the light switch on and off and the lights came back on.i now know why i got honked at when i was traveling at night (rarely do i travel at night because of this problem, since i never know when the lights will go off).before i knew this was happening, i took it to the lexus dealership and a switch was replaced because at that time the headlights would not turn off automatically.i mentioned to the service manager that the driver's side light was out sometime ago and that my husband, thinking it was just the lamp, was going to replace it.but when we went to buy the lamp, both lights were on.we dismissed as a fluke.the service manager told us that we needed to bring it back when it did it again so it could be checked.well, it is hard to do so because you never know when the lights will go off.if you turn the lights on and off, the lights will come back on.so it is impossible to determine when that will happen.it is scary.if we have to travel at night, we make sure both headlights are on.however, that does not guarantee that one of the headlights will not go off afterwards, because it has happened.at times one of them will be out by the time we get home.took it to a mechanic and he says, "hard to repair what you cannot determine what it is".
Passenger side headlamp goes out periodically.
For model year 2006 and 2007 in the usa there is no side indicators to let other drivers know your gonna make a turn. In japan there was/is fender indicators not sure if they function as signal indicators however were removed or not included in the usa release. I was almost blind sided on the freeway a few days ago cause the driver to my right didn't/couldn't see my signal indicators. Other drivers have to be directly behind or directly in front to see the turn indicators. For model year 2008 to 2011 identical body and style only with the addition of turn signal lights on the rear view mirrors that have a full 180 degree visibility.
Either driver's or passenger's or both side headlight will turn off by itself.i have notice a slight flicked few months back but barely noticeable.i turn it off and on and it comes back on.....after 5 min of driving, it will turn off again randomly.the bulbs are fine.this is very very dangerous in a rural area where there are very little street lighting.dealer won't do anything.
While driving, the headlights on either the driver side or passenger side (sometimes both) intermittently turn off.most of the time, it is the passenger side.this has been going on for 6+ months.i have found out that if i turn the lights off and back on they work, but i have to repeat the process a number of times.
I own a 2006 lexus gs300 with currently 87,000 miles and for the past 2 months, the headlights seem to turn itself off while driving. . most times it happens on passenger ! i have to turn the light switch off and on for it to work again (for another few minutes and it would turn itself off again).
For the past eight months i have had problems with my headlights during evening hours.i always turn them on at night and noticed that my driver headlight would go out after about five to ten minutes of driving and shortly after the passenger light would go out.at first i thought i needed to replace the bulb, but i somehow discovered a glitch in that if i manually turn my lights off and then turn them back on they both turn on.however, the problem seems to be very cyclical and happens more often and with a shorter gap in time of turning off.knowing that my bulbs are not burnt out in that they are able to turn back on leads me to believe something is wrong electrically and shorting.my main concern is that i worry that both lights are off and other driver's cannot see me.the other worry is that i am constantly flashing other drivers by always turning my lights off and on.after reviewing this site, it was nice to know that i am not the only one, but at the same time it is unsettling to see that so many other people are having the same problem.
As i was driving one evening both headlights turned off alone.i turned the knob off and on and they restarted, but now continue to turn off intermittently.sometimes one sometimes both after different amounts of time.i have had the bulbs replaced but the problem still persists.
Since my vehicle has reached 80,000 miles one of my headlights would automatically turn off itself when i am driving. This happens very often. It would be either left or right that will go off or sometimes both at the same time. I would have to turn it off and turn it on again and both will work fine. I constantly have to do this every time i have my headlights on. This is very frustrating and dangerous when i have my kids in the car.
My gs 300 was purchased in 2008.since that time the headlamps became condensated.eventually became a problem with fkickrtin/inoperable.. Ibwasvubabmevti get suti registered because of defective part in lamp.i had both replaced.requested lexus to assist with cistvof replacement.they declined.i was told by brenna, lexus headquarters, there was a previous lamp recall. I missed it.i would like to be reimbursed for the cost of replacement.totalling $769.54.lexus headquarters in torrance ca email reference 160331-000174.
I'm having serious problems with my headlights going out intermittently while driving. About 5 minutes after i turn them on, usually my passenger headlightgoes out first, then about five to ten minutes later, the driver headlight lightgoes out. It's strange, sometimes only one goes out, and other times they both go out. The problem is, it becomes a serious safety issue when they go out, because most times i am completely unaware until someone on the road gets my attention and tells me, or i'm constantly turning my headlights off and on, (which seems to be the temporary fix).the problem with that though is i'm constantly flashing the car in front of me turning my lights of and on. Clearly there is an electrical issue here, some kind of short or something, especially when every single day i see other vehicles on the road, just like mine, having the same issue...driving around with one light on and one light off.it's ridiculous.it's dangerous! i commute 2 hours (round trip) everyday on the highway for work and my child's school, and it's dark in the morning when we leave home and dark in the evening on our way home. It's extremely dangerous, especially on fog days and rainy days like today.this issue needs to be recalled. Enough is enough!
While driving at night, either headlight (and sometimes both) will go out. Most of the time its the passenger side headlight. I've take it to the dealership to troubleshoot the problem and to correct it. They have not been able to replicate the problem, so are unable to fix it. This has been going on for 6+ month. It doesn't matter if the headlights are in automatic or manual mode. What i have found out that if i turn the lights off and back on, they work. It could be for 5 minutes or the next 200 miles. If anyone has figured out what the problem is, i sure would appreciate knowing. I don't need getting a ticket because 1 or both lights go out prior to passing a policeman.
Driver side headlight goes out shortly after being turned on.!!!.....sometimes if i turn the lights off and back on, they work.i was told by the dealership that my bulb needs to be replaced (cost $280) but i thought if the bulb was blown it would not come on at all.after googling the subject, i found that there are lots of other concerned lexus owners complaining about the same problem. At first i thought i needed to replace the bulb.the bulbs are fine. This is very very dangerous in a rural area where there are very little street lighting. Dealer won't do anything. This issue keeps occurring. After careful review, it was nice to know that i am not the only one, but at the same time it is unsettling to see that so many other people are having the same problem.
When driving at night with low beams on, the driver side and passenger side intermittently turn off.sometimes they both turn off at the same time.went to lexus for service and they said they cannot assess the problem or know what is wrong until the headlamp doesn't turn on again and their suggestion would be to change the entire headlamp.went for a second service and was told it is the light bulb going out by another service associate.replaced light bulbs on driver and passenger side and problem still persists.
The driver and passenger frontheadlamps turn off intermittently. They can be turned on again by switching them on and off. This is happens for no apparent reason, in dry or wet conditions. I replaced the passenger side headlamp assembly which was turning off very frequently. I am consideringreplacing the driver side headlamp assembly , as well, since this is getting worse.
The contact owns a 2006 lexus gs300. The contact stated that the front driver's headlight stopped illuminating while driving 35 mph. The contact aneuvered to the side of the road to confirm that the light was no longer illuminating. The contact replaced the bulb, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the dealer stated that the headlight needed to stop illuminating completely in order for them to perform a diagnosis. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 43,000 and the current mileage was 91,000.
The contact owns a 2006 lexus gs300. While driving approximately 45 mph with the headlights illuminated, the headlights began to illuminate off and on independently. The failure persisted intermittently. The contact stated that sporadically, the headlights would fail altogether. The vehicle was not taken to have the failure diagnosed or repaired. The vin was unavailable. The failure mileage was 60,000 and the current mileage was 62,800.
The hid lighting system on the vehicle is aimed considerably low providing for extremely poor front illumination.the dealer claims that the lights are adjusted as high as lexus allows.the only way to adequately see pedestrians, etc. At night is to drive with the high beams activated which is extremely distracting to other drivers.i have driven vehicles with hid/xenon lights for over 5 years and appreciate and understand how they should operate.the leveling system on this vehicle clearly has a problem.
I bought a 2006 lexus gs300. At nights the low-beam hd lights does not project far enough, i have a hard time seeing oncoming objects on the road in dark roads. I feel that this is a possible danger if not corrected.

While driving on a freeway at speed limit my vehicle started leaning to the left and pulling to the right without me turning the steering wheel or making any turns, which almost resulted in a vehicular accident. Shortly after my windshield wipers went off without me turning them on and my gas gauge which at the time read about 3/4 of a tank went down to about 1/8.
The wiring harness inside fuel tank that powers fuel pump burned up inside the tank.

2006 gs 300 is experiencing a down shift problem, when coming to a complete stop on highway or street the car transmission bumps slightly then jerks hard prior to completely stopping. Lexus suggested replacing the transmission which already took place at 80k.i noted a technical bulletin stated this problem within 80k but the problem that's occurring after 80k. If the problem existed in my gs only, i'd fix the problem and move forward but i've read a few articles from different lexus owners siting the same issue which leads me to believe this is a pre existing issue that i believe lexus should take responsibility for before passing the cost on to customers that paid out close to 50k for this car.
Intermittent loss of acceleration 0-5 miles than car accelerates~ dealer unable to find problem due to no codes for that problem, instead it took code in history for a selinoid and said car needs transmission at 124,000. While going across 5 lane crossing, light turned yellow, i push pedal to accelerate carand acceleration did not occur, it took 3-5 seconds to accelerate and then took off. On highway in traffic, if car idles 0-5 in slow traffic, car feels like it will cut off, but the catches power after a hard press on gas pedal. Most of driving is city street, car is now turning off in drive and reverse intermittent. Car is surging during low acceleration.
Takara recall. While coming to a complete stop between 0-20mph the car jerks harshly.i noticed if i put the car in neutral it wont jerk.

I have a problem with my 2006 gs300 that i purchased new, i'm the original owner and have my car regularly serviced. Back in 2013 i had my transmission replaced by lexus of westminster at about 80,000 miles, i was shocked when recently while driving my car starts to pull whenever i start braking whether i'm going slow or fast, i get an extra thump. I took my car to the lexus of cerritos who stated i need my transmission replaced again. My car only has 169,000 miles on it. So that would make this the 3rd transmission. I feel like i have a lemon car. I have replaced the headlights excessively, i have replaced ecu sensors and even tire pressure sensors as well as starter. I don't believe i should have to replace my transmission so often, i am not a hard driver and the last transmission was replaced less than 60,000 miles ago. I have read in online forums where others have experienced the same issues on their 2006 gs. I am a previous owner of a 1988 lexus gs300 that i had for almost 300,000 miles and never replaced a engine let alone a transmission. Please investigate i feel hopeless.

Transmission continues to jerk and remain sluggish when pulling away from a stop or in slow traffic. Does not shift smoothly. Bad enough for passengers to detect. Dealership says its "normal".
I had a 2006 lexus gs 300, leased, for 3 years, my third lexus lease. The seatbelts in the front wouldn't release from their holder, i'd have to pull on them for 10 minutes before releasing. To me that was a safety issue. I complained several times to dealer, their response was that i didn't know how to put my seatbelt on, finally i called toyota, and they replaced the seatbelt, then it happened again, and again . I think they replaced belts three times, i finally found out that there was some recall or campaign on the seatbelts which they didn't make me aware of, kept telling me it was my fault !i wonder how may more complaints there were regarding the seatbeltsituation !!!!
Seat belt recall november, 2006. Seat belts replace, still not retracting. Dealer replaced seat belts again and still do not retract. Lexus and dealer have not resolved this serious safety issue. I called lexus' california facility on 9-13-07 as well as many other times. Lexus has still not corrected the problem.

The vin was excluded from nhtsa campaign number: 10v499000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified and opened a case regarding the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 168,000.
The brake pedal feel has changed over time. I have to practically shove the brake pedal to the floor in order for the brakes to start to work. So when i am driving on the highway it takes a long time for the car to start to slow down. The car will not brake if i only slight push the pedal, it has to be pushed far down. The brakes are new as they were just done by the dealership when i purchased the vehicle.
2006 lexus gs300 brakes pulls to the left when braking.the consumer stated since the problem only happened on occasion, the dealership was unable to duplicate the problem. The consumer contacted the manufacturer and was told that the pulling to the left was a characteristic of the vehicle.

The failure mileage was 79,000 and the current mileage was 81,000.updated 12/14/2011 updated 02/23/11
In winter of 2008 i was exiting a driveway at the end of which there is a stop lighton a night when snow had just begun. I was traveling at a slow speed because the light was redmy car brakes locked up and i slid into a stone pillar at the exit. Although i had sufficient time, i had no way to effectively steer the car because the wheels were locked up. There was significant damage to the car.while my overriding concern is that this could happen again, i was also unhappy about the very significant damage to my car. The dealer and the lexus corporation told me there were no recalls on the antilock brakes, but i asked them to report the incident in case others experienced (or would in future experince) the same problem. I don't know if they did. In reading about the way toyota handled current recalls, it raised doubts for me about whether they filed a report of this incident.
Transmission continues to jerk and remain sluggish when pulling away from a stop or in slow traffic. Does not shift smoothly. Bad enough for passengers to detect. Dealership says its "normal".
Dt: the contact owns a 2006 lexus es 330.an annoying and distracting noise is heard when the brakes are applied or released. The noise occurs every time the brakes are applied or released. The vehicle has been seen by the dealer, and they claimthe noise is normal. For that reason no corrections have been made. The noise was not noticed during the test drive.
The contact owns a 2006 lexus gs300. The contact stated that the caliper pin was fractured. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic where the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vin was unavailable. The failure mileage was 57,000.
Tl - the contact owns a 2006 lexus gs300. While slowing down approachinga stop sign driving approximately 5-10 mph the vehicle steering pulls to the left or to the right. He stated he holds on to the steering wheel harder to control the vehicle.the contact stated the failure was intermittently.the vehicle has been taken to a authorized lexus dealer six times and they have not been able to duplicate the problem.the failure mileage was 22000 and the current mileage was 24000
The contact owns a 2006 lexus gs300. The contact stated that the power steering malfunctioned. The vehicle's power steering indicator flashed on and off when the vehicle was started from a parked position. The dealer (lexus of lakeway, 108 ranch rd 620 s, lakeway, tx 78734, (512) 580-0600) stated that the vehicle had no recalls. The manufacturer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 105,000.
Started driving car out of driveway and power steering stopped working p/s light came on.since it was a preown vehicle there was a recall on the eps electronic power steering but the recall was already done according to lexus in 2009.if the recall was already done then why did my electronic power steering go out again?since it is a known issue and had a recall it should be taken care of.dealership is trying to charge me 2000 dollars.eps is something very dangerous to go out while your driving it causes the steering to be very hard to turn almost impossible.this can be very dangerous.
On 3/11/2019 i was driving about 35 mph when all of a sudden my power steering went out and locked up while driving almost impossible to turn. I had to slam the brakes to not hit a median. Luckily i didn't get rear ended. Took my car to the dealer. I found myself from research the vehicle has a campaign recall "9lc" and they said my car does not fall under the vin number range for the repair. Did my own research and found it was within range (how can i get more information for my vehicle than the dealer? seems fishy to me like they don't want to do warranty work) they agreed to cover it if it was the steering rack. Now they did there diagnostics to confirm the issue. Two days later they said yes it is the steering rack but the recall was done already by another dealership years ago. Called the other dealership they mentioned and they have no record of replacing the steering rack, even had them fax me the invoices. Also checked carfax and there is no record as well but everything else shows? currently i have a case open with lexus corp. Hopefully they fix this dangerous safety concern. Dealer tried selling me this repair for $4,000. Which is outrageous.it has been over a week and i am on standby waiting a response from lexus corp.
This morning, 3/14/2017, while driving to work on a multi-lane city street, without any warning at all, i suddenly lost the power steering.literally from one second to the next it was gone.thankfully i was slowing down, moving into a turn lane so i was only moving about 10 mph.it was extremely difficult to make it to the nearest parking lot.
Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)i am an owner of a 2006 lexus 300 gs [xxx]. I wanted to share with you my negative experience. On january 17th i was driving my car on vacation in pensacola fl. When i tried to turn the steering wheel i felt the steering wheel lock for a brief moment three times while i was turning. I had to apply additional pressure in order for the steering wheel to complete the turn. Once additional pressure was applied the turn completed. On the fourth attempt no amount of pressure would complete the turn. I was at a stop light and once the light turned green, i was only able to turn the steering wheel one half-way through the turn and no further. I had to immediately apply the brakes so i would not crash into the concrete barrier that separated the lanes of traffic. I had to put the car in park, turn off the car, turn it back on, and then the wheel became free.the next day, 1/18/10 i drove back from pensacola straight to nalley lexus in roswell, ga where i purchased the vehicle. Nalley lexus kept the car until 1/21/10 and they were unable to reproduce the steering problem. I explained to my service advisor, [xxx] that i am very uncomfortable with the safety of this vehicle as i don't know if / when the problem will reoccur. I am very lucky that i was not in a serious accident as traffic was very light during the wheel lockup.[xxx] talked to the service manager, [xxx] and their recommendation was to open a case with lexus at 1-800-255-3987. I talked to[xxx] (?) on 1/25/10 and he took the information down and said a lexus representative would call me back in 2 business days. I never received the promised call back.on 2/1/10 i talked to [xxx](?) and i explained the problem again. [xxx]said that[xxx] was working the case and he would be in touch in a few days. To date this issue has not been resolved.
Electronic power steering do not work
I purchased a 2006 lexus gs300 awd from a private owner on february 3, 2016.since february 27, 2016, i have noticed that the power steering goes completely out while the vehicle is in motion, without any warning other than the steering light emitting. Today, february 29th, as of this writing, the power steering went out again while i was commuting passengers via uber, from springfield, va to arlington, va, going i-495 to i-66, while vehicle was in motion.steering/turning became difficult to turn to avoid oncoming traffic and make complete turns.i will attempt to drive the vehicle to a lexus service center in alexandria, va for diagnosis.official carfax reports no recall job was ever performed on vehicle. My research on the possible recall information are documented as ssc6le and ssc9lc.
I purchased my 06 lexus gs300 last year around may of 2008, from the day that i took the vehicle home, all i ever experiencing difficulties of problems.the first couple months of owning the vehicle, i heard a really big clunking noise coming from the engine bay, it appears to be some kind of cam gear grinding, i took it to lexus of reno to have it fix not once but twice with the same problem, not to mention the steering wheel column also make grinding noises, i'd address this to the mechanic at lexus and they wouldn't acknowledge my complaint. Today is august 19 2009 the trunk of my car wouldn't open from the remote control or the trunk opener from the inside of the vehicle. This is very inconvenient, it took me 60 miles or more coming back and forth every couple months to get the something fix.
Steering feels jerky, at times poorly responsive.began several months ago.
Rearview mirror silver back coating coming off.causes dark spots and lines in mirror and gets worse each month.
My lexus gs300 passenger front door is hard to close or open, i have tried applyinggrease and penetrant to the hinges and no luck so far. Door is not aligned anymore, i hope that lexus of america takes responsibility on the door issue. Vehicle parked correctly, no downhill or uphill position.
Hello, first the headlights auto adjust low. They state its normal and i took the car to dealer a least 13 times for headlights pointing low and only gives about 3 or 4 ft on light beyond good. Now warranty expired. They didn't nothing. Rear view mirror faded it's not safe to use it. Dealer knows about the problem but wants me to 1300$ for new mirror. Front bushing system failed completely. I took it to 3 repair shops and all stated as know problem, they quoted 2000$ for repair because lexus will not and don't sell only bushings. You have to buy all new complete arm controls. Last item, the hood started to rust from under the paint without any chips. The rust starts a bubble then chips open. All these complaints are listed lexus forums all over google. Very easy to find and verify. I have cars over 25years old never had a rear view mirror fade to the point it's unsafe to use. Backing out of drives. Our kids and neighbors must be safe. Head lights that are unsafe , scary stuff and no ones forces lexus to fix these. God bless and thank you!
Rear view mirroris fade (discolored) can't see anything
Lexus gs300 had 1472 miles, driver door opened & was over-extended by wind.hinges separated from body & door misaligned.we complained from the time car was bought, the front doors swing too easily.on 2/9/07, front passenger door was opened , passenger entered & door would not close properly.re-opened door to check if anything was caught in door, & nothing was found.door would not close.re-opened door & saw identical separation of hinge as on driver's door a year earlier.vehicle has 8300 miles.door had no mis-treatment prior to incidents.

The doorwas long and heavy, and that the top bolts on the front doorswereinadequate for the weight and lengthof the doors.the contact stated that the top hinge separated from the body of the vehicle, and he felt that the service load on the doorwasdefective.the contacttook the vehicle back to the dealership, and was informed that he was responsible for the door opening too far.the contacttookthe vehicle to the dealership on two occasions.the first time he had to pay for the repairs which cost $506.00 and the replacement of the hinge and they alignmentofthe door.the contact stated that after the repair he opened the passenger door and tried to close the door andit wouldn't close. He noticed that the hinge had separated from the body of the vehicle.the contact took the vehicle back to the dealership, and they replaced the hingefor free, with a disclaimer statingthat they would not be responsible for any other repairs forthe driver or passenger front doors. 2006 lexus gs300, the upper door hinge on the driver's door slipped causing the door not to close properly, as though misaligned.the car has been in no accidents and has suffered no trauma at all. Have you had other reports of this on lexus automobiles?

While driving on a freeway at speed limit my vehicle started leaning to the left and pulling to the right without me turning the steering wheel or making any turns, which almost resulted in a vehicular accident. Shortly after my windshield wipers went off without me turning them on and my gas gauge which at the time read about 3/4 of a tank went down to about 1/8.
Dunlop 18" tires presenting with severe cupping on inside edge (discovered at 16k).tires have approx 7/32 tread left otherwise (70%).significant safety issue as this wear is abnormal and isn't easy to see.tire would come apart if not discovered and replaced.lexus dealer agreed wear isn't normal but would only replace 2 tires.lexus tech stated he's seen this before (alignment issues from the factory).similar situation caused recall on ls460 models with dunlops.the gs300 should be recalled as well for alignment/tire checks before someone is killed.we were lucky to discover that our tires were unsafe as this is so difficult to see/detect.
I own a 2006 gs300 awd which i bought in sept 2007, with 9000 miles.i had no problems with the car.in october 2008, while i was driving my car went flat. I went to rockville centre lexus in rockville centre new york and they notified that i need not one but two tires. They stated that one of my other tires was not inflated but running on the run flat mode. I wonder if i bought the car in this condition and was not aware. I bought two tires the end price was $1,087. On march 21, 2009, while driving again low tire light comes on.i go to the dealership on monday march 23, i need two new tires again. The tire was split, and it was not by glass or a nail.these tires are not fit for this vehicle or cheaply made. I am upset with lexus and will never purchase lexus again.
Tires are cupping at 13,000 miles. This is a safety issue since the tires should be replaced at 13,000 miles or risk a tire failure. The dealer says that the gs300 has an issue with cupping of the tires. The lexus gs300 should be investigated for a vehicle defect that causes tire problems.
I slowed down to park the car and was steering my car into the parking opening. And as the car slowed down to almost a stop position, and all of a sudden just before it stopped, the car suddenly accelerated unintentionally with high speed andran over the parking blocks and then over the raised island in front of me. Then it crashed into the cars parked on the opposite side of the raised island and then it stopped.in 2009 i experienced my vehicle started to shake often when it was idling when the vehicle was at complete stop position. The dealer checked the engine and said that they could not find anything wrong. The problem, however, continued and the engine started to stall intermittently when the engine was idling while the vehicle was in stop position. Again i went back to the dealer to check the engine. And again, i was informed that nothing was wrong with the functions of the engine. When i went for 30,000-mile service, i again explained the engine's peculiar behavior to the dealer, who then top-cleaned my engine. The problem, however, kept happening and the engine stalled more often. I had to go back to the dealer and at this time they top-cleaned the engine again. Soon after the 30,000-mile service, i noticed the harsh gear shift during 30 to 40 mph transmission shift and the dealer found out that the computer programming was in error and re-calibrated it. Soon after, the accident happened.

I was driving west on the interstate from albuquerque to grant, nm at 75 mph in the left lane passing many trucks on the road. There was road repair up ahead and the speed limit was reduced to 65, so i slowed to 65. A truck came up on my inside (right) lane at excess speed and swerved into my left lane to pass the truck i was about to pass. I was forced off the road. The drive must have known i was in the lane, so the incident was deliberate. The truck was marked "iwx." i have notified the trucking company several times but no response. Vin # was 12h98808. Cab @ was 3758. There was a decal on the driver side of the cab which said "beware of dog" depicting a vicious dog with an arm in its mouth.
My car is a 2006 lexus. In 2018 i showed the lexus dealership the damage to the rear view mirror. I told them many people online have similar issues. They said there were no recalls or tsbs issued for it. I did my own research and found out that in 2016, lexus issued a tsb because the rear view mirror has had problems where the color has black spots on it and the driver is unable to see through the mirror. The tsb is l-sb-0043-16 and weblink is https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2016/sb-10084333-5448.pdf. I printed this out and took it to the dealership today. They said my car was out of warranty. I explained the tsb was issued 10 years after my car was manufactured so ofcourse the car would be out of warranty but the mirror should be repaired but they refused to acknowledge the date of the tsb and would not repair the mirror.
Vehicle is burning through oil at a fast rate.there are no oil leak markings from vehicle after vehicle is parked.there is no smoke from the vehicle but continues to burn oil at a fast rate.
A few months after i bought my 2006 lexus gs300 in jan., 2006, i experienced the sudden acceleration of my car. I was passing a car and when itook my foot off of the gas pedal it continued to accelerate. I tried the brake but it seemed frozen..it didn't move at all. I quickly threw the car into neutral, and as i was about to hit the car in front of me, i shifted into park...it was the only way to get the car to stop. Then i turned the car off. The first time i attempted to start the car back up, it raced. On the second attempt it seemed to start up normally, and i drove it to work. I took the car in to the dealer the next day. They said everything checked out fine. The other evening 8/3/09,a little more than 3 years after the first incident, my wife was driving on the highway, with me in the passenger seat. As she was accelerating , all of a sudden when she took her foot off of the accelerator, the pedal continued to move toward the floor . It got up to 80 miles an hour, when she did as i did, put it in neutral, pull over on the shoulder, and throw it into park. She was frantic, calling the car a " deathtrap " . I called the dealer for a tow and when i described what happened, he said it was probably the mats. .no way. Even after we moved the mat completely away and restarted the car..the rpm's raced up. Even the tow truck driver said the car raced and " jumped ' when he pulled it onto the flatbed . The dealer called the next day and said the car is fine. I told him i want them to keep the car until they figure out the problem and fix it. I had a loaner for a couple days and then the demanded it back. I said i don't want my car back until it's fixed or they give me a new one. I can't supply the vin right now because the car is still at the dealer, but i can get it.
The contact owned a 2006 lexus gs300. The contact stated that the vehicle suddenly accelerated while driving at approximately 15 mph. The vehicle began shaking and a warning light appeared on the instrument panel. In an attempt to stop the vehicle, the contact crashed into a construction site. There were no injuries and the vehicle had minor body damage. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the body damage was repaired, but the failure could not be duplicated. The current and failure mileages were 2,761. Updated 06/22/10. *lj
I drive a 2006 lexus gs300.last fall,as i backed out of my parking space - in a building - my car "took off" and hit a cement wall. ( at first, i thought i hit the gas pedal in error however, after what happened next, i knew that was not the case. Fortunately, there were no pedestrians in the parking lot. )i put the car in drive and it "took off" again.luckily, i hit a cement parking bumper that stopped me.all this took place in maybe 15 seconds or so.not realizing there was anything terribly wrong with my car, i steered around the bumper.the car continued to accelerate and i was headed for another cement wall.i was applying my brakes with all my effort and finally i came to a stop a few feet from the wall.shaking, i drove my car directly to the lexus dealer and told him what happened.(at that time i used the term "take off" as i hadn't heardabout all the acceleration problems) he ran my car through a computer check and assured me that he could find nothing wrong.several weeks later a friend asked me what kind of car i drove and told me about all the problems toyota was having.i drove my car back to the dealer and asked him to recheck the car.he did, and again assured me that there were no problems.we bought this car used less than 1 year ago with just 12,000 miles on it.it occurred to me that it was possibly traded in because it had accelerated when the last owner had it.the dealer checked and said there had been no previous acceleration problems.one last bit of info....i'm not really sure the exact month i experienced the problems.and finally, even though i have not had any acceleration problems since last fall, i am still nervous every time i drive my car.please advise.thank you
The contact owns a 2006 lexus gs300. While driving approximately 65 mph, the speed suddenly decelerated to 40 mph. When the accelerator pedal was depressed, the speed eventually increased. 2006 lexus gs300.this event occurs when the cruise control is engaged.suppose the speed is set at 70 mph and i slow down to 67 mph because of traffic.when i push the resume lever, the engine greatly speeds up and the transmission drops into a lower gear.the result is a lunge forward instead of a smooth increase in speed.very dangerous.

Rearview mirror silver back coating coming off.causes dark spots and lines in mirror and gets worse each month.
The front window rear view mirror coating has come off from the inside of the mirror and has very very poor reflective qualities.with approx. 60% - 70% of the reflective mirror coating gone it makes it almost impossible to see what's behind you using this mirror and could definitely contribute or cause a accident.the dealer said this happens to this make and model but did not say they would replace it and said the approx. Cost for this mirror (i cant remember the exact cost) is around $800 or more dollars (expensive because of the electronics that are inside the rear view mirror).please let me know if there has been more complaints about this car part or what can be done to have the dealer replace the mirror at no cost.thanks
