Takata recallfirst we received a recallvery scary letter including not to ride on front passenger seat that was about one year ago. Then we were told by dealer they would call as soon as they had replacement bag. That was around feb 2017 then we finally looked up on website to see when manufacturer would make part available it said september 2017 .we just called sewelllexus in dallas where we purchased the car. Now they say the risk is minimal and the manufacturer will make part available for cars that are at greater risk .that may make sense to them but not to us as consumers.any risk is unacceptable especially when it has been over a year and we purchased a lexus for safety.
No action on the airbag recall.
Takata recall or takata issues - i was involved in an accident in my 2012 lexus es 350. I was hit from behind by another vehicle (2005 jeep liberty) at about 45mph and my front airbags did not deploy. I read the owners manual which indicated that if hit from behind the front airbags do not deploy with the exception of front collisions. This is extremely dangerous and unsafe for all consumers because the force of the accident while the vehicle was in motion on a city street caused me and my husband as the passengers bodily harm. My head hit the steering wheel and his head hit the dashboard - concussions and lost consciousness. Had we been hit any harder it could have resulted in death. Also, had the lexus been designed to deploy the front airbags deployed when hit from behind at a certain speed, it would have prevented us from hitting our heads on such hard surfaces. I am outrage and disappointed that such a luxury car could not keep us safe. Because of this experience i am hesitant about purchasing another lexus or recommending that anyone else i know purchase a lexus.
I had a 2012 lexus es 350 and had problems with it. The first problem occurred when i was parking.i was angle parking and had my foot on the brake when the car jumped into a brick wall.four air bags exploded in my face and rendered me unconscious.i was taken to the hospital in an ambulance.i could hardly walk and my legs were extremely swollen and i had many other bruises.the second incident was that the passenger seat of the car went on fire and burnt the seat.i feel i should not have to pay the final excess wear and tear bill of $829.50.in fact i believe i should be reimbursed for the last payment of $455 since the car was not in my possession.i had returned it to wilde lexus of sarasota on march 16, 2015 as i was extremely concerned about the safety of the vehicle.
I received a letter to take the vehicle to nearest dealer for air bag recall replacement process, and i called and initiated online chatting w/ the lexus air bag recall support team numerous times but failed to get a response from them.online chat representative stated they can't help with scheduling, and representatives over the phone, more than 6 times of attempt, either hung up during the call and kept on transferring.it happened since march on a different dates and they still refused to complete the appointment scheduling process.
Takata recall - there has been noviable solution issued to protect consumers while the remedy for this recall is developed.the recommendation to not drive with a front seat passenger is not feasible or practical.no injury has been sustained at this time.
Light can on and off 12/20/2019 when i was driving, i pull into parking lot and cut off engine...waited a few minutes and started car back up it went away, the next day 12/21/2019 when i started up my car it came onwhile still park and stay on, not a good feeling .
Consumer was a passenger in a 2012 lexus es340. She claims that the plastic shroud holding the air bag cut open her leg, causing very serious injuries and pain. The consumer was involved in a two-vehicle, side impact crash. Updated 07/26/16.
Takata recall.i received an interim recall notice on 02-23-2017.i am still waiting for a notice that replacement parts are available.i have tried several times via email to discuss the delay but lexus representatives refuse to respond to my questions via email.they insist i contact them by telephone.
Takata inflatorswe have not had any problems to date with this issue.we use this car for family transportation and based on the summary and risk statements for nhtsa recall number 17v006 are reluctant to allow anyone to sit in the front passenger seat.we understand that the relatively recent issue of jan 09, 2017 may not allow a remedy to be executed yet.however, can you help expedite this resolution or at least provide some idea of how long it may take to fix it.it is a terrible inconvenience to one of our most basic modes of transportation.thank you.
Takata recall. On february 25, 2017 i received in the mail an interim notice (important safety recall) from lexus regarding my 2012 lexus es 350, vin [xxx]. First, i contacted my dealership to find out what was going on and when it would be fixed. The dealership advised me the parts would be available in september 2017,which i assume means i would then be in line for the repair some time after september. I then contacted the lexus division, customer assistance center at 800-255-3987 only to be told the same thing. The solution until the fix is done is have my wife sit in the back seat. Lexus would have known that there was a takata airbag issue for the last few years. This is an extremely excessive wait time for a fix, one that limits my ability to use the car for its intended purpose. There are no assurances that if i am the only one in the front seat driving the car that if the airbag explodes that the shrapnel would not hit myself or anyone else in the back seat. I cannot sell or trade the car in as the value has been reduced significantly. Lexus is under the impression that his is more of an inconvenience than a threat to its occupants. My vehicle was paid off the year i purchased it. Lexus acts like this is just too bad and it wasn't there fault. I would assume that any parts they subcontract out for to install in my lexus would have been designed, built and tested with lexus approval, so they do have a responsibility in this. Is lexus going to provide a loaner vehicle, do i have to rent a car, who is going to pay for it.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
Takata recallwhile the recall letter was undated, i received it in january 2017 or at the latest, early february 2017.i checked with two lexus dealerships on march 20, 2017, only to be told that they were working on 2010 models and that i would be notified when parts were available for my model lexus. For 8 months i have avoided having passengers in the front seat.that is a long time.there is some foot-dragging on the part of takata or lexus or both.what can be done to expedite replacement of the airbag?
I have called the number provided on the letter that notified me of the recall to make arrangements.i was told the new air bags are not available yet and in the meantime, i can rent a car (not a lexus) through enterprise rent a car.that is not acceptable.i bought a lexus and since my car is not safe to drive until the air bag is replaced, i should have a comparable car to drive.
Takata recall and electrical failures. Lexus recalled vehicle in jan 2017 warning that no one should sit in front seat for duration. No provision for a replacement vehicle was mentioned. It has been 10 months of not being able to use front seat. They say the parts will be available in december. Our vehicle is also getting my wife stranded. We have gone through 3 batteries in 3 years. Lexus refuses to fix it. Please reference attached recall letter. I was not able to attach the complete set of docs with detailed description due to file size.
I received a letter regarding my lexus, recall.since the part is not available i was told to not drive the vehicle, and was given a rental car.now i am stuck making pymt on a car, paying insurance on and state registration which i ve been forced to store.and driving an economy vehicle, not my luxury lexus!with no known completion date insight.this is insane to say the least.if this car is a lemon why am i not allowed to turn it in as a lemon?
The lexus dealership is unable to acquire a replacement air bag for my car. I have been told not to carry passengers in the front seat, which is impossible therefore a risk to my family.

The horn quit working.found it works only when the steering wheel is turned close to end of clockwise and counterclockwise direction.deemed safety hazard since no horn sound to alert pedestians, bicyclists and other drivers of danger.wasn't covered under warranty and cost $690 to replace steering wheel clock spring.
On the passenger side dashboard next to temperature control switch, dashboard vinyl is melting, it has bubble and one bubble was broken to make a hole. I noticed it on april 1, 2014. When i changed the cabin air filter on march,31 in glove compartment, i didn't see it. I brought my car to new country lexus and described the issue hoping that their technician may see issue with temperature control resistance may causing wiring to heat that is causing vinyl to melt. But they didn't see it that way, instead they are saying that i might have dropped a chemical on it, i swore to them i didn't use any chemical and i don't have any passenger except my wife. I don't want to fix the vinyl until i fix what caused it. But, unfortunately lexus dealerships trained technician didn't see anythingcausing it from the inside the dashboard. By taking second opinion from outside repair shop, he mentioned the temperature control resistance may be heating up the wire that might have caused the vinyl to melt.i feel that this is a real issue and it may cause a fire. I have opened a case with lexus corporate and a case manage promised to call me by april 4, 2014.updated 04/17/14
All 4 doors stopped locking by key fob, inside switches or exterior door handle switches or when putting the transmission in gear. No click is heard when trying to lock doors but clicking is heard when hitting the unlock switches. Doors will unlock electronically/ electrically when they are manually locked from inside the vehicle.a previous report indicated a similar problem that a dealer diagnosed as all of the door locks needed replaced, which makes no sense that the could all fail mechanically at the same time.the problem appears electrical in nature and is dangerous since doors can't be locked when the car is in motion or in a safety situation where locking the doors could prevent intruder entry.
