The passenger side airbag is splitting or busting around the top of it, where it attaches to the rest of the dashboard. Not sure how this affects the airbag as far as its performance if in an accident. Or if it continues to split will the airbag deploy.

The contact owns a 2004 lexus es330. The contact stated that while traveling 20 mph, the vehicle accelerated and when attempting to engage the brakes it failed to respond. As a result, the vehicle crashed into a curb, flipped over and the air bags did not deploy. The contact sustained neck and chest injuries that required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer has not been notified. The failure mileage was 47,000.

Passenger side airbag cover is separating from dashboard and appears to have pressure behind it.vinyl is cracked on top side of airbag cover.

Takata recallmy 2004 lexus es 330 has a malfunctioning passenger side airbag. There is a light that says passenger airbag off that is illuminated. Also, there is a gap in the housing where the airbag is located on the dash of the passenger side. I am concerned there has been no formal recall on this issue. There are several complaints online from consumers with same issue on the same make/model. Please add this vehicle to the recall.

I drove off the highway , route 50,in annapolis, md, onto an exit ramp leading to ferguson road.i applied the brakes but the car did not slow down.i avoided a car on the ramp in front of me but immediately came to the stop sign at ferguson road.the car had not slowed down and i attempted to make the left turn onto ferguson road, but hit the guard rail and another car in the intersection.the air bags did not deploy.i received a cut on my left hand, a bruise on my right hip from the seat belt buckle and my glasses were knocked off.my wife in the passenger seatreceived a bruised right ankle and experienced pain in the sternal region.we both walked out of the accident and did not deem it necessary to go to the hospital.my wife's sternal pain has not gone away now 7 days after the accident and she will seek medical advicetomorrow,on march 17.on two occasions prior to this accident i experienced transitory brake failure ,but that caused no accident ,and right away after that the brake pedal pressure seemed normal and i forgot about those two incidents.the car had all routine scheduled services, the last being a 90,000 mile service onfebruary 11, 2009.i am the original owner.i never received any notification from lexus about any possible brake malfunction issues with 2004 lexus es 330 autos.the car was deemed not worth repairing by the allstate adjuster.

I started my car and all of the sudden, air bag light came on. I never had an accident, airbags were never deployed, i checked all the wires and even unplugged the battery for good 10 minutes and the light will not go off. In case of an accident, my car will not deploy air bags and it creates a potential threat that it can be an insta-death, especially with a steering wheel in front of your face.

No accident- the passenger air bag- the cover is raise and the edges turned up as if ready to open-we fear damage to the passenger or driver -the news today said there is a recall-what do we do.

The passenger side airbag seem to have developed a tear around the top edge. Not sure if this affects the deployment of the airbag. After doing a search on th web this problem is very common for lexus es 330 of 2003 onwards

While the car was garaged overnight, the passenger side airbag in the dashboard cracked and is now partially exposed. I called lexus and they asked me to take the car in to my local lexus dealership. I did. While they reviewed the issue, they also completed service on a recall of the passenger side seat belt. I was then told that the airbag was not covered under warranty, but they would submit a claim to lexus. The claim was denied. They said, the warranty is six years/70,000 miles. While the car is under 70,000 miles the car is ten years old. The charge to fix the cracked airbag is $3500.00my argument to them was:1. The airbag is not a "wear and tear" item. The airbag is a safety item that should last the lifetime of the car.2. Lexus fixed the other safety item a seat belt, so they should fix the airbag.3. Lexus could not guarantee that the airbag would function properly. I informed them that i had two teenagers who are driving and asked:a. Will the airbag deploy properly if the car is in an accident?b. Will the airbag deploy unexpectedly while driving?lexus could not answer the questions to my satisfaction.i do believe this is a design flaw in the es 330 that could potentially harm the driver and passengers.

Without any incidents, our dashboard light for the airbags came on. The dealer says the entire part is in an electrical housing in the passenger seat and it to be replaced as a whole part at a cost of $4000. A separate mechanic we have used long term says it is the entire drivers seat that needs to be replaced not the passenger side and this one is at a cost of $6000. They both state it's not part of the recent airbag recalls. They know the airbags have not inflated, yet cannot guarantee that they will inflate in the event of an accident. The vehicle has been in our possession as original owners and no one else drives this vehicle. It has never been in an accident or fender bender or anything. The light came on one morning after it had been parked in our driveway all night. We don't park on the street.

Passenger air bag light came on about 6 months ago and won't cut off,i haven't been in a car accident nor has my airbag emploded, had it look at by mechanic at auto shop where i get my oil changes and such he didn't recognize any problems, called lexus dealership and they want to charge an arm and a leg just to look at it.

The contact owns a 2004 lexus es330. The contact stated that the air bag warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that seat occupant sensor had failed and in order to remedy the failure the entire seat needed to be replaced. The dealer reset the air bag light but the vehicle was not repaired. The failure persisted and now had developed a ticking noise that can be heard coming from the passenger air bag. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 67,083. Updated 10/30/14*lj updated 4/27/2015

I have a lexus 330 model year 2004 4 door sedan. The car has an indicator on the dashboard advising whether or not the passenger seat airbag is turned "on" or "off".this dial indicates the airbag is always turned "off" if a personweighing less then 85 pounds is in the front passenger seat. When an 85 pound female is in the front seat the air bag warning light indicates the air bag is turned "off". If the passenger places a 10 pound bag of potatoes in her lap, the airbagindidator shows that the airbag is turned "on". I purchased a car with2 front seat air bags. However, this in not what i have received. There is no manual switch to turn the air bag "on" or "off". The dealer and lexus corporation refuse to correct this so that my 85 pound wife is protected by an air bag. Does this comply with your regulations?very truly yours, jules i. Kurz.

When i tried to stop and turned right on a side street the car's brake didn't work and the car even accelerated itself. It didn't stop even i pressed the brake until it hit a street sign and knocked the tree down on the sidewalk. The air bag didn't come out after the crash neither. The car was a total lost after this accident.

I own a lexus es330 2004.it isn't involved in the accelerator recall.however my car does drive by wire.the following if from car and driver.according to them software does exist that stops voltage to the etc when the brakes are applied.to me this is a "no brainer".maybe there are patent issues that is not an excuse.toyota should be forced to reprogram their software.i work in industry we use interlocks all the time.but toyota could do better. Since the advent of electronic throttle control, many automakers have added software to program the throttle to close?and therefore cut power?when the brakes are applied. Cars from bmw, chrysler, nissan/infiniti, porsche, and volkswagen/audi have this feature, and that's precisely why the g37 aced this test.

Since i purchased this vehicle in 2008 i had the problems with the car jerking between 40-60mph and had the dealer to investigate my concernswhich i took the car to a lexus dealership for diagnosis of the problems which they never found; i was then told that this problem occurs in all 2004 330es and the problem wasn't detected. So i drove this car for all the years i have it with the same problems; until 12/19/2015 the problem continued when i was enroute to another town and the engine light came on and the vehicle began jerking and slowed down and i could no longer accelerate the engine; when doing so the car made an arkward sound; so i began to turn around and head back home from where i was it was 8 miles back; and the car was jerking and shaking to where it was about to shut down completely and still pulling; i had my car towed to the dealership and left it over the weekend; and they finally found the problem code p0303 cylinder 3 misfire and po353 ignition coil, which was the problem all along but they couldn't find it because at the time there was no light indicator on; but now that the warranty expired for which the dealer i purchased the vehicle was reliable for the payment. $500 later the problem discovered. Also recall on the issue but not the vehicle i own; since i experienced the same problems i feel that the recall should have included my vehicle and a refund due.

When starting the lexus es 330 2004 for the first time in the day it makes a horrible sound that lasts about 5 seconds while still parked then when driving it seems like i am forcing it do accelerate.after being warmed up it is fine and after subsequent starts it does not make that noise.

While driving and coming tocomplete stop vehiclehesitated upon acceleration for a few seconds. Dealerinspected vehicle, and indicated the vehicle was operating as designed by manufacturer.

Standard complaint for this car.engine or transmission delay when gas pedal was released then suddenly depressed.this occurs when merging onto freeways,4 way stops, a traffic light changes, and when pulling out to pass or in certain emergency maneuvers.the delay is approximately 1 or 1.5 seconds and disrupts timing when you depend on throttle response the most!this has led to several close calls.dealer was made aware of the defect when car was 1 week old and i was told the adaptive system needs 1,000 miles to learn my driving habits. The dealer is well aware of the problem and says all the 2004 es330s suffer from the same problem.lexus customer care claims that the"car is functioning as designed".there is and will be no attempt by lexus co. To resolve this issue.the dealer's hands are tied at this point since the company needs to engineer a fix.*la

When driving vehicle hesitated and stalled at low speed. Dealer stated that there was nothing that could be done.manufacturer insisted there iwasnothing defective on the vehicle.

For the last 3 months since i purchased my lexus rx330,i have experience excessive engine vibrations in the steering wheel and the transmission is shifting improperly. Though i have taken my car into lexus many times they have not fix these problems and i believe they need to be addressed.

While driving at any speed and when trying to pass other vehicles ithesitated for several seconds.after accelerating the vehicle will not go into any particular gear.also, engine would whine during this process.dealer claimed that the vehicle was designed to adapt to the drivers habits.

The jenci's contend that mrs. Jenci put the vehicle in reverse, itthen surged, made a loud sound and lunged forward out of control.

Ever since i purchased by 2004 ls430, i have noticed an unacceptable engine vibration. This is noticeable during idle/first start-up. The engine vibrates and can be felt in to the cabin. This happens when the engine revs are between 1200 -1400 rpms. This is very disappointing for a $62k lexus!i have brought this to the attention of a lexus dealer and have gotten the "it must be bad gas" bs. I told them i only use chevron supreme (92), which i also use in my bmw with no problem. A second time, they indicated that it was normal and not a problem. This is something i wouldnt in a vehicle.

When applying the accelerator pedal vehicle hesitated then surged forward. Consumer is concerned that this condition will result in an accident.

Dt*:the contact stated the drink in the drink holder spilled and resulted in the driver being distracted. The contact expressed the position of the drink holder is a poor design and could result in an accident. The manufacturer was alerted and informed the contact the cup holder had been redesigned in the newer model.

The contact owns a 2004 lexus es 330. While parked, the contact noticed that the driver side headlight was not illuminated. The contact stated the driver and passenger headlight would intermittently fail but both had never failed simultaneously. The contact replaced the headlight bulbs yet the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing where the technician advised that two computers that controlled the exterior lighting and the headlights would have to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000.

While driving at night, the driver noticed that the headlightswere inoperative.the low beam lights did not illuminate and caused poor visibility to the driver.the vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection numerous times, and the mechanic adjusted the lights.but problem recurred.*sc

While driving and when consumer turned onthe turn signal lights to make right or left turns the arrowsindicated left or right, but didn't makea clicking noise. Consumer indicated he had to observe the dashboard to see if they were workingwhile he wasdriving. The dealership indicated vehicle was operating as designed by the manufacturer.

It didn't stop even i pressed the brake until it hit a street sign and knocked the tree down on the sidewalk. The air bag didn't come out after the crash neither. This car is extremely dangerous. It's either a defective transmission or bad drive-by-wire design.the car hesitates extremely badly on acceleration. For example, when you are entering a limited access highway, if you slow down and then step on the gas, there is a long lag before the car begins to pick up speed. This lag is often a second or more. I have nearly been hit numerous times while the car makes up its mind whether it wants to move or not.the dealer has refused to fix the problem.

The contact owns a 2004 lexus es330. Upon starting the vehicle, he failed to disengage the emergency brake. He traveled approximately 20 miles with the emergency brake still engaged. In doing so, the main brakes would not function correctly. An independent mechanic performed a diagnostic test and made unknown repairs to the vehicle, at the owner's expense. The approximate failure mileage was 64,000 and the current mileage was 65,000.

One month after purchasing my certified/previously owned 2004 lexus es330 on 9/30/05, i had the dealer check vehicle's slow to shift, slipping through gears while accelerating, and'surging' while attempting to stop, as if gears/transmission were slow to get the message.i have had this issue checked 5 times (2005-2009), and each time, they either say they did not find a problem or, twice, reset the computer.i feel as though i'm 'an accident waiting to happen,' however, have seen no reports/ investigations/recalls addressing these lexus/toyota product issues.please advise how nhtsa/i can address this problem before i or someone else gets hurt or killed.

Upper right motor mount has been replaced 3 times. Now car is vibrating between 45-60 and has no power and is taking up to 1-2 minute's.

When you accelerate from a very low speed there is a hesatation which i feel is dangerous if i had to react fast to get out of the way of another vehicle. I just bought the car it is a 2004 es330 and was not aware of this problem. Is lexus working on fixing this problem it can be dangerous

The contact owns a 2004 lexus es330. The contact stated that while driving 30 mph and attempting to shift from second to third, the vehicle would not accelerate. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the electronic control system hesitated and as a result, the computer module would need to be updated. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance since the vehicle was operating up to their standards. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 50,000 and the current mileage was 70,000.

Vehicle have experienced hesitation when need to accelerate. The consumer was told that the problem was with the computer that caused a delay between the depression of the accelerator and the response by the transmission.the transmission would slip between shifts and the driver seat squeaked. *sc

Our 2004 lexus e330 has exhibited many life threatening problems involving its automatic transmission performance.of greatest concerns arelife threatening instancesover the two years.hesitations occur when pressing the gasduring critical entry attemptsonto interstate hwys, etc. Where we have experiencednear deadly transmission hesitations of needed power getting into oncoming traffic.my wife was almost killed by an 18 wheelerwhen she otherwise would have hadadequate time to safely merge had the transmissionnot hesitated. She wasfortunate to have survived. Just one of many close calls. Another es 330 automatic transmissionproblemis the untenable, untimely, rough down and up shifting between the first and second gears that lexus has advised has been corrected in the 2007 models which of course will not help with this vehicle i am stuck with. Such admittance support my argument that they arequite aware of this very un- lexus type performance in the 2004. What a shame that lexus would let the great lexus name be sodegraded by their failure to support their faithful customers in such justified complaints; this is our third lexus!

The 2004 lexus es330 transmission has a number of operating characteristics which contribute to poor driveability, but two in particular are safety-related hazards:(1) a hesitation on acceleration which can be very dangerous when crossing intersections and(2) a forward lurch when decelerating to a stop which could be very dangerous, especially when roads are covered with snow or ice.

Transmission shifting lurch between 30 and 40 mph still re-occurring after two software program updates.

The 2004 lexus es330 transmission was hesitation or lack of response,i could sense the hesitation to sudden speed which i imagine could be a problem if there was a car tailgating me or changing lanes.

My wife and i purchased a new 2004 lexus es 330 on february 7th, 2004.we had read many good things about this car, and thought we were buying the best.he salesman reaffirmed our thoughts.we bought the car in sarasota and drove it home to bradenton.i noticeda difference from the demonstrator immediately.the transmission whined as it went through the gears; it slipped noticeably in the gear changes; and it failed to drop into lower gears immediately when i gave it throttle to pass.i thought they would fix it in the 1,000 mile checkup, but when i took it in on march 11,'04, the technician,s report said,"...all data normal.transmission is is working as designed."i objected to no avail. What kind of manufacturer would design a transmission to slip, whine, and in the words of consumer guide of april, 2004,"...transmission tends to loiter in higher gears and hesitates to kick down for passing, creating delays in part-throttle response."i amfinding out that this has been a problem since at least '02 with no corrective measures being taken.we think this problem makes these cars unsafe in today's heavy traffic.

04 lexus es 330.while driving at speeds under 10 mph (especially "rolling stops"), vehicle experiences at least 2-3 second lag between throttle actuation and engine/transmission response.this problem is particularly evident when pulling out into busy traffic. This is a serious safety concern that needs to be addressed by lexus. We took the car to dealer.they said all systems normal.

We have a 2004 lexus es330 with 22,000 miles. We have been having problems with hesitation, hard shifts and missed gears for the last 10,000 miles. The dealer replaced the computer module at 16,000 miles and the car is a little better but not much. I took it back in for the problem at 21,000 miles and the dealer acknowledged that there was a problem with the car, but they did not know how to fix it. The dealer told me that lexus told them that they were having trouble with a number of the es cars after the module was changed but they did not know how to tell the dealer to fix it. I have spoken with lexus and their representative again acknowledged that there was a problem with the shifting in the es. Although both the dealership and the manufacturer have both admitted that there is a problem i have been unable to get them to even attempt to do anything about it. We have had this problem for over 1/3 of the time that we have had the car and now i have to wait 2 more weeks for a lexus rep to come into town to "talk to me". The lexus people told me they were going to look into my complaints and call me back in a couple of days and 10 days later i still had not heard from them. Not only do i find the problem very annoying i am very concerned that the hesitation problem could lead to an accident, and i am quite sure that the erratic shifting will lead to premature transmission failure.

Due to a lexus admitted transmission defect, at times you press the gas and the car simply doesn't go.it almost caused me to get crunched when pulling out into traffic.there's no doubt this will eventually cost someone their life.

My 2004 lexus es 330 sedan has a transmission shifting problem that i have described to the dealer as "slipping".when the transmission is under load (going up a hill) and you accelerate or decelerate you feel and hear a definite abrupt shift in the vehicle.i have had this car to two separate dealers over the past 12 months and have been told that this behavior is "typical".

During the first weeks, the transmission acted erratically.driving at slow speeds, when i release the accelerator to coast, and then accelerate, the transmission slips or takes time to engage, causing the vehicle to lurch forward.(this has been described as a "delay/hesitation in shifting," or that the transmission is "searching for a gear.") the transmission did not shift up or down smoothly. I brought the vehicle in. The service tech acknowledged the problem.i was then asked to bring the vehicle in and leave it for a few days. Not hearing back from anyone, i calledand was informed that they had been unable to fix the problem.a few days later, i was told to pick up the car.i spoke with [xxx]. He informed me thatlexus drove the vehicle and speculated the cause was the gas.i was told that i needed to "run through a few tanks of gas."when i went to pick up the vehicle, i was reading the service ticket and saw a statement on the ticket that: "no fault found."despite this, the ticket was inaccurate. Work was done on the vehicle, including resetting the memory, replacement of a filter and new gas.i then spoke with [xxx], service manager.he conceded that the service ticket was inaccurate.he told me that he was looking into the issue.he called me back and said the lexus engineers were aware of this problem and it was a software problem.the vehicle is defective.i have now driven 2-3 of these cars, and the symptoms are consistent.i contacted lexus. They stated that the problem was a "characteristic" of the car, and that there "was nothing wrong with the car." lexus knows the car's transmission is defective, but the fix is too costly.so, consumers are going to be stonewalled. The nhtsa should immediately recall all lexus vehicles with the 330 engine mated to this new 5 speed transmission before someone is injured/killed.if you or anyone else has any questions, please feel free to call me at [xxx].information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foi

Transmission issues andhesitation in acceleration.have been back to the dealer 4 times since oct 2006.dealer "reprograms" the transmission but it does nothing.

Very bad hesitation when accelerating. Took delivery 4/27/04 and found the problem immediately. Complained at 1000 mile checkup. Told to give it time. Complained again at 5000 checkup. They said they checked it out and it was operating as designed. Problem continued. Complained at 15000 checkup (9/28/05).performed at this checkup per invoice: eg5017 26 99 .9 perform tsb tc004-03. Recalibrate ecm engine and transmission.the problem is better but still exists.have noticed via internet research that this is a widespread problem with the lexus es. Spoke today (11/28/05) with a service representative at my dealership and he acknowledges that this is a big problem they are dealing with and there appears to be no one good fix for it.

My 2004 lexus es330 has a transmission that hesitates between gears that causes a hazard when accelerating into traffic. Lexus refuses to acknowledge the problem and therefore to fix it.

When driving, the vehicle hesitated.the consumer took the vehicle to the dealer, where the computer settings were changed, but the vehicle continued to hesitate.there were several close calls on the highway.the consumer would accelerate the vehicle but the vehicle would hesitate.lexus did not seem to have a concern about the problem.*sc

Transmission problem: the car gets a delay when shifting to second gear.

The contact owns a 2004 lexus es 330.while driving various speeds, the steering jerks, clicks, and feels as if it could detach from the steering column.in addition, transmission fluid is leaking and the computer reflash causes the transmission to fail.the contact stated that the computer needs to be reprogrammed for free so that the transmission will not fail.the contact was informed that the failure was common.the vehicle is currently in the repair shop for diagnostic testing, but they will not repair it because it exceeds the 50,000 mile warranty.the mechanic will only provide a temporary remedy.the failure and current mileageswere 94,000.

For the last 3 months since i purchased my lexus rx330,i have experience excessive engine vibrations in the steering wheel and the transmission is shifting improperly. Though i have taken my car into lexus many times they have not fix these problems and i believe they need to be addressed.

On my 2004 lexus es 330, the transmission is sluggish in shifting and hestitates from a rolling or full stop situation such as traffic.this has on several occasions nearly resulted in an accident either by being rearended or broadsided.i have raised this question with my local dealer and was told that the car was performing as designed.

04 lexus es330 transmission hesitation is serious danger to driver.engine hesitates when starting from a dead start. Car has to be floored to move and even then it hesitates even more.also car has serious blind spots on left and right outer side mirrors (they are too small for the car). Also, cruise control light stays lit even when the brake is hit or you dis-engage it.the only time the cruise control light turns off is when you physically turn it off with the switch or shut the engine off completely.this gives the driver the impression that it is on all the time even when it is off or worse they think they have shut it off but it's really still on and you have a very good chance of rear ending someone.this is extremely bad engineering and extremely dangerous.how you guys let a car like this on the road is beyond me. Did you test it? if so, how did you let it pass thru to the usa? this car with it's hesitation, blind spots, and dangerous cruise control it's likely to get someone injured or killed in a hurry.car doesn't get anything near the epa ratings under any condition.i've contacted lexus customer care and they say this all normal.no help or suggestions.please get lexus to put out tsbs on these problems before someone gets injured or killed.i'm very concerned. I've been a driver for 34 years. I've never driven a car so dangerous in my life.

I own a lexus es 330 and have been very displeased with the transmission.there is a hesitation of a second or two when you accellerate and it also jerks the car when you try to accellerate when the car is slowing down.this can be very dangerous when attempting to pass another vehicle or merge onto a highway.apparently the car is operating the way it was designed.something should be done about this before someone loses their life!i've wanted a lexus for years and now that i can afford one i wish i bought a bmw.this will be the last lexus i will own!

At low speed about 20-25 mph letting go of the gas pedaland press on againcauses the transmission to hesitate for at least 1-2 secondlike it is searching for the right gear.this could cause an accident.

Lexus has had a problem with the transmission in their es models since 2002.the transmission does not shift properly, and at low speeds when trying to accelerate into traffic, turn at intersections, etc., the transmission hesitates severely, not knowing which gear to go into.i've nearly been broadsided several times at intersections when my 2004 lexus es330 with less than 8,000 miles on it wouldn''t downshift properly.i've sent 3 letters to lexus headquarters, and they will not acknowledge a problem.sight unseen, they state the car is "functioning as designed".however, lexus service writers and salepeople have acknowledged there is a problem, as have scores of people on edmunds.com comment areas.everyone concerned gets the same answer from lexus, because they apparently have no fix available and don't want to admit there is such a large problem.please advise as to any further steps i might take to get some action.

The transmission is erratic shifting through second and third. It slips and hesitant when shifting up. When shifting down it is rough and inconsistent. This creates a in traffic safety situation.lexus of sarasota service manager, first complaint, reset the computer. On the second complaint, simply stated that lexus is fully aware of the problem. That they have had many complaints but since the transmission hasn't failed they will do nothing to correct the deficiency. This is totally unsatisfactory.

Vehicle surged when cruise control was engaged at 60 mph.it surged up to 80 mph.it felt like it was going down hill. Dealer could notduplicate the problem.also, transmission hesitatedat 0-20 mph, it also jerked........lexus has admitted the problem, but maintained that vehicle drove as designed. Hesitation problem experienced by many lexus es330 car vehicle hesitation, then will lurch forward when accelerating a tlow speeds. Lexus has admitted the problem, but insisted vehicle drove as designed.

I own a 2004 lexus es 330 and the transmission jerks and hesitates upon acceleration.this defect has put me at risk numerous times since the car was purchased; the risk being that the transmission hesitates and upon giving it more gas it decides to overcompensate, causing near collisions with the car ahead of me.the lexus dealer has dismissed the problem and has not include it in the service reports, even though i have requested it be examined.they state that the car is learning my driving habits.this is a smokescreen and unacceptable; i am certain this complaint has been submitted to the nhsta before.lexus refuses to acknowledge the problem, even though it has been recognized on numerous web sites.thank you!

While driving, my transmission failed on my 2004 lexus es330 with 97,000 miles.cars were swerving to avoid hitting me as my car almost came to a stop while driving on a busy road.lexus corporate gave me half off the parts for the transmission and the dealer gave me half off of labor.however, transmissions are not supposed to fail on 1984 buicks, let alone 2004 lexus' with under 100,000 miles.

When accelerating vehicle hesitates then lurches forward. This problem can cause many accidents and might even end up in injury or death!!

My 2004 lexus es330 has a transmission hesitation problem. When i accelerate as the car is coming to a stop, the transmission hesitates and takes about 2 seconds to react. Same thing happens when i go about 40 mph and accelerate. This has created many situations where i was almost involved in an accident. I can't pass cars, and when making left turns, i have to make sure there is no one withing 400 feet of me before attempting the turn. This problem is common, and i consider is extremely dangerous.

2004 lexus 330since the auto was purchased and driven off the lot, there has been a noticeable delay from stop or slow speed acceleration from the time the pedal is depressed until the engine actually starts to deliver the power.if you stomp the pedal for a jack-rabbit start, the delay is not as noticeable.the dealer j and m, has been giving me the run-around since purchase with the "normal" party line.

The 2004 lexus model es 330 has a safety defect in the its transmission that thecompany refuses to fix.when the driver takes his foot off the gas and slows down, then steps back on the gas, there is a hesitation and at times a jerking in the transmission.numerous complaints to lexus have only brought the response that this is a known defect, but lexus will not correct the problem.after spending 35,000 dollars for a car, this is not the response one expects to hear! as one's level of frustration with the problem increases, the temptation is to slam your foot on the gas to try to correct the problem, which could obviously lead to more serious issues.the service manager at the local lexus dealership states he has had numerous complaints about the issue, but lexus refuses to address the issue. The date referenced below is only one of continuous dates the problem has occurred; again lexus has been non responsive and blatantly callous to requests to address the problem.

Transmission shift delay. The shifting delay can go as long as 3 - 4 seconds and have caused several life threatening close calls accident. Lexus was aware of the shift delay problem but claims that this is normal and done by design.

Upon acceleration there was a long pause before the transmission accelerated to the next gear. The consumer has taken the vehicle to the dealer and was told that this is the way it is suppose to operate. Provide further details.the consumer stated the vehicle feels like it is searching for a gear when he is trying to speed up.*tc

Automatic transmission produces unpredictable and erratic behavior, including vehicle hesitation, transmission slipping, and lurching on acceleration. I feel thisis a serious safety concern for which the public should be made aware. I have had the vehicle serviced on four occasions without successful remediation. The dealer claims awareness of the issues and insists that there is no immediate repair available.

Automatic transmission/vehicle speed control:accelerator pedal failed.the vehicle hesitates when the throttle is applied while drining at 30 to 40 mph due to poor transmission shifting.the dealer installed new software which improved (~50%) but did not eliminate the concern.the consumer says this is a common concern with these vehicles based on his internet research. *dsy

Transmission failed to accelerate when stepping on gas.transmission only whined and failed to get a gear for a couple of moments. (big hesitation) very dangerous when trying to pass at low speeds.the transmission only does this intermittently, dealer states its drive by wire and is normal.i guess until somebody dies they (lexus) are not going to do anything about it.help, this has been an ongoing problem and the car only has 1600 miles on it.

I have a 2004 es330 which has a significant shifting problem in low gears. I have taken the car back to the dealership twice already and am ready for the third visit. The dealer "reset" the memory for the shifting pattern at 200 miles because of unpredictable driving patterns. The transmission does not always shift poorly, about 25% of the time there is a problem. There seems to be a hesitation during the shifting which causes a lack of power. I have noticed this while merging onto highway traffic, and it is very dangerous. I have contacted the lexus customer service and they were of no help, only to tell me that other customers were experiencing the same problems with their transmissions. If i do not get satisfaction from the third visit i will get a "lemon law" hearing and hope for the best. I am very disappointed in the lexus/toyota response to this obvious engineering blunder. Where is the quality that they are known for?

The car hesitates when the gas pedal is depressed and then it lurches into gear. It has also pulled to the left since we bought it despites numerous repair attempts. We are currently enaged in a lemon lawsuit regarding this issue.

This complaint is about my 2004 lexus es 330 bought in august 2004. The problem is with the transmission which hesitates very often when it shifts down from 2nd gear to 1st gear and then back up. I have experienced the problem many times in the past few months. Even though it has not caused any accident, lexus should admit it is a defect design and should fix the transmission as soon as possible.

Transmission problems with my 2004 es330 i am becoming very concerned with my new 2004 lexus. I have had it in the service center four (4) times now with the same transmission problem. The service center keeps telling me that there is no problem with the transmission and that it is the way i drive... My 1999 lexus did not have this problem and i am perplexed on why i am being told it is me and not the car. This last service call on august 22nd i was told to use a higher grade of gasoline. I have now gone through a tank of the high grade gas and my transmission is still slipping. I notice it when i slow to negotiate a turn, when i am driving between 15 and 20 miles per hour, also now when i am merging into traffic either slow or from a stop the car hesitates and then lurches forward with a kick.. I am beginning to be afraid to drive this car not knowing what will happen next. I have 3 children that need to be shuttled around every day and i am concerned for their safety as well.. I want to take it back to the service center but the feeling i am getting is that they think i am crazy. This is due to they say there is no problem with the transmission. Also, i don't need extra horse power with the higher grade of gas, the lexus has plenty of power... Can someone please help me in this matter? this transmission is junk...i have had my husband drive the car and he concurs that the transmission does slip and he feels it must be some type of modulator that is not getting the fluid to the torque converter or something like that.. I have less than 15,000 miles on my car and with this problem it feels like i am driving a car with 150,000 miles on it... I don't feel comfortable nor safe driving this car... Please help... I have called lexus 2 days after the purchase of my car when i first felt the irregular shifting patterns.. Thinking it would get better i waited until my 1000 mile service check to bring it up a again.. It seems to be getting worse.

The car rapidly decreases speed when one lets up on the accelerator. Cars following have no warning of this as the brake is not applied. I have had three very close calls of a rear end collision. The action does not take place all the time, so it is impossible to account for it by different driving.

My transmission feels confused in my 2004 lexus es 330.when slowing down to turn in the city or pull out of your driveway my car will hesitate and pause for about a second before accelerating.this seems to be very dangerous as i am afraid that someone will hit me in the back before i can get the car up to the desired speed.i find myself always double checking sometime triple checking beofre i pull out.i have looked online at many different websites and i have found about 1900+ people who have complained about this problem.

Complaint relating to lexus es 330. Transmission and accelleration have been unsatisfactory since purchase.car is momentarily unresponsive to accellerator when gas applied.dealer said they found nothing wrong.i have noted that there are numerous complaints by other owners with this same problem.shifting between 1 and 2 and 2 and 3 is hesitant and there is a longer hesitation than i have noted with other cars.this car model cannot be relied upon to accellerate on demand.i believe that this represents a safely risk in the event that accident avoidance should require predictalbe accellerator responce.this is a continuous and on going problem.

Automatic transmission is almost always in too high a gear for conditions. Shifts up too quickly and shifts down too slowly. Presents a severe danger in that emergency acceleration is very poor from low speed and/or while negotiating a turn. Dealer states this is normal for fuel mileage and environmental reasons.

The contact owns a 2004 lexus es330. While driving at various speeds ranging from 0-10 miles per hour, the contact noticed that the transmission jerked, causing the vehicle to hesitate. The contact had not called the local dealer and the vehicle had not been repaired at the time of the complaint. The current and failure mileages were approximately 42,000.

2004 es 330 exhibiting transmission problems even after "dealer fix".there is sever gear hunting at every speed sometimes results in a lag of acceleration or acceleration lurches that result in close call accidents.note that this problem did not start occurring until after 2,000 miles of driving after the car was purchased as brand new.

There's a "lag" in the shifting of gears due to something wrong with the transmission in my 2004 lexus es330.i purchased the car new from a major lexus dealership at roseville auto mall, roseville, ca.although i noticed from the start, a"slippage" or "lag" during the automatic shifting of gears, and brought this to the attention of the lexus dealership, they brushed it off as "normal".my lexus now has 23,000 miles on its odometer and this "lag" is driving me nuts!driving in europe requires rapid responses and advanced speeds, especially when driving on the autobauns.this "gear shift hesitation" is extremely dangerous and often finds me in a semi-dangerous situation.my driving skill and habits have accommodated this transmission idiosyncrasy but whenever another driver drives my car they immediately recognize the problem and i have so often been advised to place a complaint with the lexus manufacturer, i have yet to do so because i suspect it will fall on deaf ears.do i have any recourse?my lexus has few miles on it and is still well within it's warranty.i have recently read that the 2004 lexus es330 is wrought with transmission problems.has lexus served a recall on my model?please advise.i will appreciate whatever assistance and guidance you may suggest.thank you very much.i am a us citizen, and retired federal service worker.my wife currently works for us army corps of engineers here in wiesbaden, germany.wiesbaden recently opened a new and large lexus dealership.do you think this dealership might know what i'm talking about if i discuss the transmission with them? do you know of any "fix" lexus is providing for this problem?thank you again.my phone number is to lengthy to fit into the space provided by this website.appreciatively, leroy clemanshalb . My 2004 lexus es330has a problem with shifting.when attempting to accelerate the car hesitates significantly before deciding to downshift.this is a notable problem when trying to avoid traffic or change lanes fluidly under crowded traffic conditions.lexus says this is normal for the car.

Transmission shift delay. The shifting delay can go as long as 3 - 4 seconds and have caused several life threatening close calls accident. Lexus was aware of the shift delay problem but claims that this is normal and done by design.

I not longer have confidence in driving my lexus 2004 es330 with 12,500 miles due to 2 main reasons.(a) this car continue to pull to the left to the point thati must continually put pressure to the steering wheel so the car wont move to the left.this is happening even after the dealer has supposedly fixed issue.(b) the very well known transmission problem.this vehicle is unsafe to drive in many instances where you need to merge into traffic and the car does not responded to the gas pedal. The symptom is very noticeable when you are on stop and go traffic or in slow traffic.i urge your agency to investigate this matter before any casualty occurs.lexus normal response is that the car is operating as designed.the dealer must have been told to express the same line as they always have the same answer for anything they do not have a solution for.

Severe hesitation when merging on to a higway at between 20 and 30 mph.dealer service has checked vehicle previously and "its normal for a lexus"

My lexus 2004 model es330 has been accelerating by itself.this acceleration has been happening two to three times a week for about a year.i did not realize that the car was accelerating by itself, but have noticed more during last 3 to 4 months.

The seat belt for passenger side and the seat assembly malfunctioned when my passenger buckled his seat belt. There was a popping sound and then the airbag light came on. The system was re calibrated at the dealership but i continue to have sporadic problems with this issue. I cannot have a passenger due to this issue.

The contact owns a 2004 lexus es330. The contact stated that the drivers side seat belt failed to retract. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who performed unknown repairs but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was not available.

The flange nut that holds the seatbelt receiver to the front passenger seat bolt came off, allowing the seatbelt receiver to completely disengage from the seat. This is a serious safety concern.

Dt*: the contact stated while driving 25 mph, the rear middle shoulder belt was pulled and wrapped around the neck of the child while properly restrained in a child safety seat.the child seat was installed by the latch system.the seatbelt retracted and locked, but would not extend even after the vehicle was turned off.the seat belt was cut in order to release the hold on the child's neck.the service dealer had no solution, but offered to replace the seat belt.the contact was treated for emotional trauma.the manufacturer was not notified.

Vehicle have experienced hesitation when need to accelerate. The consumer was told that the problem was with the computer that caused a delay between the depression of the accelerator and the response by the transmission.the transmission would slip between shifts and the driver seat squeaked. *sc

My lexus es330 2004 has about 17k miles on it, and i have noticed several indications where i try and brake and it feels like the brakes will not fully engage, or that theebs braking system is engaged, when i do not believe it should be engaged.this has happened mostly in the winter or fall months when the road was dry and the air was dry.it has taken me way to long to brake and come to a proper stop.it has occurred about 10 times.i do not drive very much as you can note from the mileage.a few times it occurred when the road was wet, and felt like the brakes actually locked up and then released and then went into the ebs mode.if i drive aggressively, and want to stop quickly, this can occur on dry pavement, in situations where the car is clearly not acting in a manor that it should.i have not been in an accident.i have brought the car to lexus and they say that there is no recall or reported problems etc.it is a problem that i suspect would be difficult to test.i have had several high performance cars before, such as a porsche 944 and a mercedes and never ever experienced this before.i do not want to sell the car to an unsuspecting purchaser, and thus i want it resolved.if i am driving aggressively, and go to stop, at time it is as if the car assumes that the ebs system will be necessary given the speed, but it should not be.also, a few times when this occurred, the back brakes seemed to lock and i felt my back end fish tail.i got out of the problem by releasing the brake and hitting it quickly twice.it really is disturbing that i drive a car that i simply do not trust to stop appropriately.even at a relatively slow speed, if i hit the brakes hard, the car continues to travel engaging the abs (that what it is not ebs0 braking system when really it should not be doing so given the speed and weather conditions. I will put 1/12009 for incident date, but i have not had an accident.

The contact owns a 2004 lexus es 330. The contact was driving approximately 10 mph on normal road conditions. There was pressure applied to the brake pedal. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and repaired for body damages at an estimation of $1,000.the failure mileage was 36,000.

2004 lexus es330. Consumer states recurring problems with brakes *tgwthe consumer stated the dealer replaced the master cylinder three times. Despite having the master cylinder replaced, the consumer continued to have brake issues.on the third visit, the brake caliper and brake booster were replaced. On the fourth visit, they replaced the abs actuator. The consumer was informed by the dealer that the problems she was experiencing were normal.

When braking and slowly turning left to come to a stop in a parking space at a wal-mart parking lot my car suddenlyaccelerated uncontrollably at such a fast speed that my car crashed into a metal pole and pushed a parked station wagon facing my car back far into another isle.my foot was definitely braking the whole time.!!!!my car unexpectedly accelerated at a very high speed while i pressed the brake.i have in my possession a surveillance tape of the accident taken by wal-mart. As a result i hurt my back and neck and was very upset that i could have killed people walking in that parking lot.i am positive that the braking system in my car malfunctioned.

The brakes on my newly leased 2004 lexus 330 do not engage with pressure for the initial 1/2 to 1 inch of pressure and are inconsistant. They also make a distracting and irritating knocking noise when the pedal is released. I have had the vehicle in for service 3 times and each time the service manager has told me the brakes were fine, but they are definitely not.

My lexus es330 was less than two months old and the mileage read about 950 the time when the accident happened.t occurred on the way to work at 8:40 am march 8th, 2004.it was a sunny warm day.as i was driving on the far right lane of south 5 freeway with speedaround 65 to 70 mph, a car next to my lane was trying to cut in front of me.in order to keep a safe distance, i tried to slow down the car by pressing thebrake.the moment i pressed the brake the car swerved to the right.i couldn't control where the vehicle was heading and the car didn't slow down as i furtherpressed the brake. It bumped into the guardrail and turned 180 degree facing the oncoming cars.luckily, i was able to make a turn and parked the car withouthitting anybody.the car was damaged from the right head light all the way to the rear bumper.i immediately called the dealer and lexus sent a inspector to check on the car.one week later, i was informed the car is ok and there is nothing abnormalafter their investigation.i requested an investigation report and the response i got is i have to "go through the legal system".there was no explanation for the exact meaning of this phrase.i am a good driver with excellent record.the whole experience was totally out of nowhere and unpredictable. I kept looking back to find any clues that might lead to the accident.as i studied the nhtsa complaints, most of them happened during slow speed driving.my case happened on the freeway and all i remembered was the car didn't slow down as i applied the brake.

As i was pulling into the garage at my place of employment, i pressed on the brakes and the car began to accelerate, i continued to bounce off the wall several times before the car would stop. I felt that the brakes failed or the throttle was stuck. I have contacted my dealer, they called me back 30 minutes later and said that there was nothing wrong with car and i could pick it up. I felt as if i have been "blown off' and i am terrified to drive this vehicle again. I have since contacted the corporate offices and placed a complaint, however, this issue still remains unresolved. The form will not let me enter the correct model of my car, it is an es330 not and rx.*la

The contact owns 2004 lexus es330. When the contact was inspecting the vehicle under the hood, he noticed the dashboard was cracked on passenger side which displayed the air bag foam. The contact stated that the vehicle has been in the garage for years and he also had a shade in the windshield. The vehicle was taken to the dealership for diagnostic testing. The dealer also stated there was nothing could be done regarding the dashboard. The manager at the lexus dealership stated that they would provide reimbursement for half of the repair cost. The failure mileagewas approximately 75,000. Thecurrent mileage was approximately 100,095.

Disconnected ac drain hose caused leak under passenger-side carpets.humidity issues/dangerous driving conditions.caused serious fogging on windows repeatedly over 4 years.could not find source of problem until wetook apart car and lifted carpet.could become a serious mold issue.odd smell in ventilation system.we believe it came this way from the factory and was possibly knocked loose when the carpeting was installed.it was an on going problem.we sterilized it and aired it out for a few days with a high powered fan. Had to remove the seat to get to it and glove box. Not easy. Problem rectified now. No humidity issues.changed cabin filter. No more bad odors when using the defroster.dealer was not helpful.

S10 appropriate handling-letter from regarding safety complaints regarding the 2004 lexus es 330 *tgwthe consumer stated the left upper strut mount bolt was loose, the wiring system was defective in which the hood carpet, oxygen sensor wires and radiator hose caught on fire, but managed to go out by itself. The dealer concluded that no conclusive cause to the under hood fire was found. Also the brakes were defective. The consumer had difficulty stopping when a vehicle in front of him slowed down to stop. The battery had to be replaced because the vehicle would not start. (the consumer wrote in on behalf of her father owns the vehicle)

Consumer had difficulty steering because the vehicle pulled to the left. The dealer stated the vehicle was within specifications. Consumer got a second opinion from an independent mechanic who performed a front end alignment. The vehicle performed better after the alignment.

2004 lexus es330.consumer states anti-lock braking system caused the car to skid off the road and into a guard rail.*tgwaccording to thepolice report, the vehicle lost traction due to icy conditions and struck a guardrail. The consumer stated he wrote to the manufacturer several times and never received a response. Updated 12/22/10. Ignition key housing/case containing metal key blade and electronic remote transmitter for unlocking/locking door cracked allowing transmitter to fall out. Inquiry was made with dealership on replacement. Informed key not covered by warranty - considered to be like tires or wiper blades. Replacement cost $200.00 per key.used tape to hold key and transmitter together and used second remote key. Second key housing cracked several months later. Used tape to also hold together.key case came apart in grocery store parking lot and transmitter was lost. Key would unlock door but car would not start. Female stranded alone at night without transportation. Called wrecker - quoted $80 for night pickup and tow to dealership. A friend was able to provide assistance and ride home instead.next day, before towing, called dealership to inquire what would cause car not to start. Informed car will not start without chip inside (lost) transmitter. Returned to car with second (cracked) key and was able to start and drive home.key housing design is defective and manufacture is well aware of the issue going back 10 years for lexus and toyota models. Will not replace broken keys without payment of $200.00 per replacement key !!! this is a ripoff !!! internet search and conversations with other lexus owners confirm same experiences.lexus makes a defective key for probably $10 cost and wants consumer to pay $200 to replace. Broken plastic key housing can cut skin on fingers. Lost transmitter makes the rest of key worthless. Leaves owner stranded and possibly incurring towing fees because of a cheap plastic key housing that manufacture will not fix or replace.

When starting the lexus es 330 2004 for the first time in the day it makes a horrible sound that lasts about 5 seconds while still parked then when driving it seems like i am forcing it do accelerate.after being warmed up it is fine and after subsequent starts it does not make that noise.

Upon starting and putting car in reverse engineexperienced uncontrollable acceleration. Car it backed across a the traffic lane in a parking lot with the brakes applied stuck two parked cars and ended up on top of a planting area after hitting a tree planted there.police were called and responded.the car has been looked at by a mechanic but could not find a visible problem with the accelerator.

I was driving at 9:30am cst on 7/27/16 when my car experience unintentional acceleration for about 1.5 miles.my car refused to slow down, even while i had the brakes applied.i have had my car sent to lexus headquarters to be investigated.

While parking, the consumers 2004 lexus es 330 suddenly accelerated jumped and curb hit a tree. The consumer stated she gently pressed the accelerator to inch into a parking space a little more, when the vehicle suddenly went out of control. After hitting the tree, the vehicle then bounced back from the tree and went down an incline to the right where she was able to stop it.the consumer was treated at the hospital for a hairline fracture of her sternum. It took several weeks to recover.

The contact owns a 2004 lexus es330. While parking, the vehicle suddenly jumped when shifted into drive. The vehicle accelerated over a cement block, went uphill and crashed into bushes and rocks. The contact suffered minor injuries. No police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer but had not been inspected or repaired. The jenci's contend that mrs. Jenci put the vehicle in reverse, itthen surged, made a loud sound and lunged forward out of control.

My 04 lexus es 330 had unexplained throttle increase while driving on hwy at about 50 mph. I was able to immediately put it in neutral and it stopped. I turned off the engine and called local lexus dealership who advised me to bring it to them. When i started engine again it drove ok.

When attempting to accelerate the vehicle hesitated, then surged forward without warning. No impact reported. Please provide additional information.vehicle surges even when vehicle is at a complete stop.no collision so far.

I reported on the nhtsa website on march 2, 2006 an accident that occurred when i was driving a 2004 lexus 330on january 28, 2006 in tucson arizona.i reported the circumstances of my accident to the lexus customer satisfaction center (lcsc).i followed up with a letter including my nhtsa website report, other nhtsa reportsof similar types of accidents with lexus es330, police report for my accident and requested assistance to determine the cause of the malfunction that led to the accident.a technician from toyota motor sales, usa, inc. Came to the lexus dealer in tucson and inspected the vehicle.i received a letter from a claims administrator-legal department of toyota motor sales, usa, inc. Indicating the technician's report concluded"it (my vehicle) was functioning properly at the time " of the accident.this letter did not include an accurate description of the circumstances of the accident.i wrote another letter to the claims administrator stating that he had not accurately described the accident details and i requested a copy of the technician's report.i received a letter on june 6, 2006 from the claims administrator stating that "while i (the claims administrator) had the scenario incorrect, the circumstances remain the same.that oversight on my (claims administrator) part has no bearing on the testing conducted by the lexus field technician."the letter also stated that "be advised that it is not our policy to release our internal reports".i sent a follow up letter via certified mail, to the claims administrator on june 6, 2006 requesting that an exception to the policy be made in my case and asking again to receive a copy of the technician's report.i never received a response to my letter.thus, i am very unsatisfied with the customer support that i have received from the toyota motor sales, usa, inc.

When accelerating from an idle positionvehicle hesitates.

On a sunny saturday afternoon, july 31, 2010, i attempted to make a u-turn in the parking lot. While i turned left, pulling into a parking space, my vehicle surged forward with a sudden acceleration and ran over the curb.i stepped on the brake pedal, but it did not stop.i changed the gear to the "p" position and heard a loud noise when the gear was moved through the "n" position.it struck a lamp post before stopping. The vehicle was inspected at lexus of bellevue, wa, on august 11, 2010, but they denied any vehicle malfunction.

While drivingat low speedsvehicle hesitated then surged forward. No impact reported.the vehicle hesitated when the accelerator pedal was applied then suddenly after several seconds the vehicle would accelerated suddenly.

At most sppeds, especially when stopped or at speeds below 40 mph, my lexus es330 has a severe hesitation/acceleration delay that when depressing the accelerator pedal, acceleration is delayed at least 1.5 seconds, is unpredictable and compromises safety and places the driver at risk in most day to day driving scenarios.it is also impossible to match the speed of a vehicle in front when in bumper to bumper traffic, when the accelerator pedal is pressed, the es330 will continue to roll forward for a few seconds then accelerate, it will not "creep" at the speed of traffic.i am told by lexus that this is normal and is inherint in the vehicle design.if this is true, one would think this design flaw will soon eclipse the firestone/ford explorer injuries of the past.

2004 lexus es 330 acceleration is sticking/stalling and jerking when vehicle is driving and slowing down in traffic. Contacted lexus dealer and representative and they claim the car computer is constantly adjusting feel like jerking motions.

My wife was driving a 2004 es330, when she pressed the brake on a 15 mph speed, the car instead surge forward with a very high speed and she heard a roaming noise coming from the engine. In a few seconds, the car ran up a curb and she managed to avoid hitting the trees and wall. The car was damaged and she is not going to drive the car again. Lexus dealer simply said they can not find any problem with the car. I did research on this nhtsa data and found a lots of same complains against es330 and es350. I am very upset by the way lexus handled the issue.

My lexus 2004 model es330 has been accelerating by itself.this acceleration has been happening two to three times a week for about a year.i did not realize that the car was accelerating by itself, but have noticed more during last 3 to 4 months.

I had no problems with my 2004 lexus 300se until i ran through a building.my car only had 16,000 miles on it and i never experienced braking problems, acceleration problems or anything of the sort.i did call the dealership when recalls were very big news in the media but was told my model was not on any lists for recall.i drove my car to the tailor shop...i turned in the shopping center with no problem..i turned into the parking place in front of the tailor shop and the car would not stop.i pressed the brake but the car just went into lunge mode and instead of stopping went faster.i had my brake pressed all the way to the floorboard.thank god the lady in the tailor shop was in the back of the store because my car did not come to rest until it was inside the store and pinned at a wall.people came out from other stores..smoke everywhere...they came to my window and told me to turn the key off.the wheels were still spinning but my foot was not on the accelerator - the wheels came to a stop when i turned off the ignition. My car was considered a total loss.damage to the bldg included all of their front glass and interior.i don't know a final figure on the third party damage.my insurance covered the claim but i truly feel this is a lexus issue and they should be held responsible as the accelerator apparently stuck and nothing would stop it until i turned off the engine.

Please note - this is or may be related to other odi i just reported at 10261933.i have a lexus 2004 es330 and in addition to weird braking problems, i have also hit the brake and basically felt the car continue like i never hit the brake and i am accelerating or have cruise control on.when this has occurred, i did not feel the abs braking system engage or any type of slowing down occur.i end up hitting and releasing the brake quickly to try and get the car to brake and come to a stop.on one occasion i also quickly hit the gas to see if perhaps that would clear the problem, and it did not.i pulled over, checked that no debris or floor rug had some how made the gas pedal stink, and that is not the problem.other than this problem, and the problems reported under odi 10261933, i have not had any other problems w/ accelerating or stopping.i have brought the issue to the attention of lexus and they have denied any recalls or other reported problems.i suspect they assume i am a woman - who cannot drive.again, i have owned fast high performance porshe and mercedes previously and never had this problem before.i hope someone will figure this out before i am injured or perhaps someone else is. Thanks. Ps no date of incident, so i will put 1/1/09.this refusal of the car to engage the brake etc has occurred about 5 times.

The vehicle suddenly accelerated uncontrollably.driver was able to maintain control ofvehicle, and pulled over. Then, turned vehicle off.took vehicle to the dealer, butmechanic could not duplicate the problem.

On 2/25/2011, i drove the car 15 minutes on the i-5 freeway to la jolla. The car was then parked for 2 hours so the engine was cold. I started it, backed out of parking place, and accelerated slightly to pass another car backing up. I was exiting a condo complex and speed was generally under 10-15 mph going over speed bumps. The total distance traveled was about 150 feet on gentle, 5 degrees?, downhill grade, generally coasting with slight pressure on the brake pedal, to reach the exit which was at a streetlight at a busy street. The light was red so i gently increased the force on the brake pedal. I then sensed that the brake was suddenly not stopping the car. I applied as much force as possible and could not come to a complete stop. I shifted the car into neutral and the pressure being applied to the brakes stopped the car instantly. The engine raced like i had never experienced before. I then turned the ignition to off. I shifted the transmission into park. Knowing of the problem with floor mats and accelerator pedal problems, i reached down and pulled the floor mat towards the seat and away from brake and accelerator pedals. I restarted the car. There were no further problems.

The car doesn't go when you hit the gas.also when at low speeds it will jump like its accelerating without me hitting the gas.lexus admits the issue exists and say nothing is wrong.they say it is a side effect of the drive by wire transmission.this has and will cause more accidents.

The accelerator in my 2004 lexus es 330 stuck in a crowded parking lot and caused a collision.

Dt*:the contact stated while exiting the drive way the vehicle suddenly accelerated without warning.there was a crash with an oncoming vehicle before it stalled in the yard across the street.a police report was filed and there was property damage.the vehicle was towed to an independent repair shop who repaired the damages to the body of the vehicle.the dealer has not been alerted.

Consumer is requesting information regarding the status of the review of the 2004 lexus ex 330 acceleration delay problem.*mrthe consumer experienced an acceleration delay while driving the vehicle.when the consumer slowed the vehicle down, like when approaching a highway on ramp, then accelerated to get into traffic, there was an 1.5 second delay before the vehicle would accelerate.

I had 2 accelerating experiences with my 04 lexus.both led up to several $ damage to my car and i other car.then the 3rd one occurred when my car was in for repair and the lexus garage loaned me a 2009 lexus, the same thing - it accelerated and i drove into a brick wall.i thought they were my fault.the state of minnesota intervened and took my drivers license so i can longer drive.i feel this was an injustice and want my license returned.

I have a 2004 lexus es330 with accelerator problems.my initial problem was as i come to a stop light and it turns green, before i have to stop i would accelerate and there would be a hesitation where the engine feels like it is stalling.it would then accelerate with a thump.i took it in to the lexus dealer in hawaii (oahu) and they recognized it as a computer program problem that tells the car when to accelerate.i was told that they can "try" to fix it by changing the computer chip and resetting the memory in the computer.however, they said that it would either fix the problem or create other accelerator problems.they know that this problem exists.it fixed my initial problem but has caused other problems such as car now jerks upon accelerating while traveling 5-15 mph.from a stop, my car sometimes hesitates and then accelerates when i step on the gas pedal.i know other lexus owners have complained as well as camry owners that have a v6 engine and the same transmission as the lexus es330.you can google it.

I have complained numerous times and have written a letter to denny clements, group vp of lexus informing him of my safety concerns related to the 2004 es330.his office attempted to appease me by offering to send me 2 free oil change coupons or $1,000 off my next purchase or lease of a lexus vehicle.the vehicle has serious hesitation issues when attempting to accelerate.i have spoken to everyone at the dealer, including the service manager (who admitted the issue, but had no solution) and general manager.the issue has not been resolved.

Dt: consumer's wife got into the vehicle and reversed, then put the vehicle into drive.at that time, it continued to go backwards.she then called the consumer and he called the auto club, a wrecker came out, and the service man put a block behind the wheel and the vehicle went forward in drive.the dealership was contacted at this time, but the vehicle was not left.yesterday, the vehicle went backwards in drive again.he has contacted santa monica lexus and they were sending out a diagnostic expert to check the vehicle.the first time was a couple of weeks ago.

I was driving our 2004 lexus es330 on a clear sunny day at approximately 2:30 pm. I stopped in the left turn lane at a very busy intersection in tucson, arizona. There were three cars in front of my vehicle and i had the car in neutral.when the left-hand turn-light signal changed to green, i pulled the gear shift from neutral to drive.instantly, the motor made a loud revving sound and the car lunged forward and hit the vehicle in front of me.i immediately applied the brake but my car continued to push on the car that i had hit.i then tried to back away from the car i had hit by putting the gear shift into reverse.when i shifted my car into reverse it hit the car behind me and i immediately applied the brakes but they did not work. This occurred twice before the engine died.this was a harrowing experience.fortunately no one was injured.even though i was stopped immediately prior to the accident, there was $4,500 damage to my car and $7,500 of damage to the other car. Since we purchased the car it was serviced regularly at the dealer where we purchased the vehicle.until this accident i had never been the driver of a vehicle that was involved in a car accident. Nhtsa website has complaints of very similar problems posted by owners of the 2004 lexus es330 model. I have reported this problem to lexus customer satisfaction center.

Throttle control computer failed on 2004 lexus.could not get the car to go more than 5 miles per hour.lexus/toyota says it is unrelated to the 1000's of other complaints having to do with the throttle.i believe that it is related and should be part of the recall.

The contact owns a 2004 lexus es 330. The contact stated as he starts the engine the rpms increased excessively and remained that way as he moved the gear shift out of park.the vehicle would jump forward causing the accelerator pedal to stick and the vehicle would not accelerate. While parking the vehicle with the brake engaged and the gear shift was in reverse, the vehicle accelerated forward. The failure caused the contact to crash into the garage and damage the front bumper.no one was injured. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer will be contacted at a later date. The failure mileage was 40,000.updated06/03/11 updated 06/13/11

The contact owns a 2004 lexus es 330. While driving approximately 20 mph, the accelerator pedal became unresponsive and caused the vehicle to decelerate independently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 38,000.

Two episodes of spontaneous acceleration. Episode one on or about august 17,2004, while pulling past a vehicle on a freeway, the car did not slow when accelerator pressure was released and required multiple pedal depressions to obtain control. The second episode is described below.

*dsy

2004 lexus es 330 has severe hesitation and surging problems when trying to accelerate under traffic conditions such as merging onto freeway where you might need to slow and then accelerate.we experienced dangerous situations due to hesitation and then sudden surge.second trip to dealer and they say it's a known problem and there is nothing they can do.i believe it is a safety issue and a recall should be enforced.lexus seems to think it is only an inconvenience.

2004 lexus es 330. Consumer states unintended acceleration *tgwthe consumer stated she was certain the sudden acceleration she experienced which caused the vehicle to surge forward while attempting to park was due to the faulty floor mat that became stuck under the accelerator pedal. There was minor damage to the vehicle.the dealership claimed the pins that held the mats in place had broken. They claimed there was nothing else wrong with the vehicle.

My 2004 lexus es330has a problem with shifting.when attempting to accelerate the car hesitates significantly before deciding to downshift.this is a notable problem when trying to avoid traffic or change lanes fluidly under crowded traffic conditions.lexus says this is normal for the car.

2004 lexuses330. Consumer states accelerator problems *tgwthe consumer stated when she changed the gear from park to reverse, the vehicle suddenly accelerated, hit a fence and continued to accelerate even though her foot was on the brake.the consumer believed the accelerator became stuck.

I own a lexus 2004 es 330, purchased new.from day one there has beena hesitation in acceleration.this has put me in possible danger many many times.in talking with the dealer, they were/are aware of this problem and said it is a software problem that they hope will be fixed. Nothing to date. I have complained about this numerous times and they agree that this could be a very dangerous situation, and that all the es 330s have this problem.unfortunately, lexus has not taken the time or wanted to spend the money to fix this.the danger is real. Can you help?thanks.jane robins.

Vehicle does not always respond properly to driver depressing accelerator.in some cases, when coasting slowly e.g., under 10 mph), suddenly pressing the accelerator sharply will have no effect for about 1.5 seconds.during the delay, the engine will continue to idle and vehicle speed do not increase.after the delay, the engine and vehicle speed increase in accordance with the accelerator pedal position.this can lead to an accident if the driver is making a left turn when there is oncoming traffic.there is another possibly related anomaly with the car: when driving, under some circumstances, when the driver sharply presses the accelerator, the engine and vehicle speed will not change for about 1.5 seconds.after the delay, the transmission down shifts and the engine speed increases.

2004 lexus 330. Consumer states uncontrollable acceleration *tgwthe consumer stated he experienced sudden acceleration twice. Fortunately, both times he was able to regain control by shifting into neutral, stopping and restarting. While he was attempting to regain control, he attempted to pull the accelerator pedal up and brake, but neither action was successful.

2004 lexus es330 sudden acceleration *grthe consumer stated when she attempted to turn around in the parking lot, the vehicle accelerated out of control, struck a sign and another vehicle.

Electronic gas pedal - when at low speed or immediately after coming to a stop the gas pedal is depressed the car hesitates for 1.5 seconds or more before responding and then accelerates very fast. This presents a serious safety hazzard when tring to enter or cross busy highways. The dealer says all the 2004 7 2005 models do it. It is a constant complaint. Lexus customer service says they are aware of it but have no cure. A safety warning and recall shopuld be issued.

On numerous occassions this car had accelerated unexpectedly when putting it in gear both forward and reverse.n the last occurrence the car shot forward, jumping a low curb and hitting a tree.i had no control overwhat happened and i am afraid to drive this car any more.
