The contact owns a 2006 land rover range rover hse. The contact stated that the seat belt warning light would not illuminate when the seat belt was not being utilized. In addition, the air bag warning light would also illuminate intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who informed him that the seatbelt would not operate if there was a crash. To repair the air bag failure, the dealer stated they would have to remove the seats and replace the seat sensors. The manufacturer was contacted who offered no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 62,000.

A lot wrong with vehicle i could only choose 3 problems which is difficult.

The passenger side airbag on the dashboard is starting to prematurely split on top of the dashboard surface around the entire outline of the airbag. The crack has progressed in a precious outline of the cutout of the airbag. After contacting land rover of america on multiple occasions, they considers this as a "wear and tear" and they state this will not effect the safety of the vehicle. Note: this is a common problem that owners of the 2006-2009 models have been experiencing (per multi land rover website forums) that land rover has now redesigned the dashboard on the newer models to have the cutout of the airbag already designed into the dashboard so this type of defect will not occur.i'm very concerned with this type of design defect especially if the airbag is needed during a collision whether it will function properly and the fact that land rover of america is instructing its customer service representatives to advise consumers that this is a "wear and tear" issue.i would appreciate for the dot nhtsa to review my concerns and conduct an investigation with land rover regarding this matter on my 2006 range rover sport.thank you

Passenger side dashboard has cracking around the airbag system.i took it to three independent upholstery shops and they all decline to perform any repair due to safety/liability concerns.they say it is fairly common for my year/make/model vehicle.i'm fearful that this presents some issues with airbag deployment, or may simply be a design flaw by landrover.

Passenger seat occupancy sensor failed which disables the airbag(s), requiring replacement. I know there was a recall on the same part several 2006 bmw models, land rover was owned by bmw at the same time and the part replaced has bmw branding on it.likely it is the same part and should have been included in that recall.

Front dash has cracked all the way across.i am so afraid that this will affect the airbag and cause it to deploy prematurely

The front passenger occupancy sensor in my 2006 range rover intermittently works. When the passenger seat is occupied, 50% of the time the air bag fault light will be illuminated, which means that the passenger airbag, or perhaps all airbags will not deploy in an accident. I was surprised to find out that a few friends with the same car area also having the same issue, and this is not a recall item for land rover. In order for this situation to be remedied, i must purchase the $220 sensor and have it installed, which requires removal of the passenger seat and leather covering the seat bottom cushion. This should be a recall, as it has been a recall item for other manufacturers such as honda.

On march 25, 2006 my family was on i-75 in our 2003 discovery se. We were in a construction zone and a person several cars ahead made a sudden lane change cutting off a driver ahead of in our lane. He brakes suddenly. The truck following struck him. I was already slowing down due to the heavy traffic. However, i struck the truck. It was not a heavy collision and the air bags did not deploy. Almost immediately, i was struck from behind by an 18 wheeler.upon impact, my discovery burst into flames in the back. The impact again drove my vehicle in to the truck ahead. This time it was a very heavy impact (the hood crumpled and the windshield shattered) but the airbags did not deploy.we just barely got out (i had 2nd degree burns to side of face and hand)i am concerned that 1.) the air bags did not deploy at least the second time and 2.) the vehicle burst into flameson impact.

This vehicle was taken back by the manufacturer for electrical issues it was then resold. I just purchased it and it has serious electrical issues. I have owned it a month and it had codes within 48 hours of purchase. System failure codes. The battery is good and is drained every night and every time i go to work. This vechicle is essentially usuless and i just purchased it. It flashes random tire pressure system failure codes when it wants. Just random. It is one thing after another. Luckily nothing super safety related yet.it was manufactured wrong and was never repaired and now i am stuck with a vehicle i can't use after i have made one payment on it.

Dt*:the contact stated after using the keyless entry remote to lock the vehicle doors a child inside the vehicle was unable to exit by manually unlocking the door.the only way the doors would unlock was by using the keyless entry.the dealership determined the reason the doors would not unlock is because of a security feature on the keyless entry.the manufacturer was alerted.updated 7/3/2006 -

The vehicle ignition lock is not accepting the key, after removing the ignition fuse the system is re-set and key will start vehicle and unlock steering wheel lock. Took vehicle to land rover service center and was told by service advisor that this is a "very common" problem with the model year 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009. The only fix will be a replacement of entire steering column, after each shut off the ignition needs to be reset in order to start the vehicle. This temporary "fix" can result in sudden lock of the steering wheel while driving. So far i had 2 issues that the vehicle started but did not unlock the steering wheel lock.

I was told by the land rover service manager shon torres that the steering columns on vehicles of this manufacturing year and the years surrounding it have often had issues where the steering column will stop recognizing the key. He went on to say that many times no keys can be reprogrammed to the steering column and at that point you would have to purchase a new dyeing column which costs around $10,000. This has happens once so far and i had to purchase 2 new keys and have them programmed. One day i drove the car to work and when i for in it to leave for the night, it would not do anything when i turned the key, not even would the lights come on. #2 is an ongoing issue within the same models that there is a leak that happens somewhere near the rear wiring when it rains it causes there to be a faulty connection to the radio/navigation system and causes a short in the ability of the radio to stay on and perform correctly. This is an issue that happens often. Sometimes several times in 15 minutes time and sometimes it will happen once in 15 minutes, but it always happens. The radio will cutoff and sometimes after a few minutes come back on, or it will stay off. If you turn the radio off manually it will all of a sudden pop back on. The dvd player does the same.

The steering column mobization have goneon it. And the range rover dealership want to fix it for 8700.00 i can't afford it and i'm an elderl. Please find out is there a recall.

While on a trip from ohio back to charlotte, nc i was driving through the mountains and got a reduced engine performance warning while on an incline with a truck behind me and the engine would not pick up speed and i began to lose power and almost got hit by the truck behind me.i pulled over, took the key out of the ignition, reinserted the key and was able to drive again.upon my research, i found that the wiring on these vehicles has a known issue of being crossed and the auxiliary cooling pump has issues as well.i was told by my mechanic that the part is not covered and nor is the labor to fix this issue.i called land rover and although they are aware of this issue that they will not do anything about it.this is an obvious issue with the manufacturing of the vehicle as they are well aware of the wires being put in incorrectly!

I have owned two 2006 range rover hse.the first one land rover purchased back from me due to their failure to be able to fix the problem with the engine smoking and losing power.they told me at the time that my vehicle was the only one in north america to have this particular problem.it had around 13,000 miles on it when they purchased it back from me.the vehicle had been in the shop for one week the first time on a different problem and then when it went in for the smoking engine it was in the shop for about 5 weeks before they bought it back and at that time i purchased another 2006 range rover hse.my latest range rover is in the shop for the smoking engine and loss of power.i guess that i have the only two vehicles now in north america that are experiencing these issues, but i sincerely doubt it.

While driving on gwb, i suddenly felt like the underneath of the car had gotten stuck on something & then the car came to a sudden stop, leading to the car behind me hitting my bumper.my mechanic told me it was my front differential & was not covered in my vehicle's year recall.

92,000 miles goes in to limp mode and have to pull over restart the car transmission safe mode suspension always goes done on one side due to poor air shock designe

The contact owns a 2006 land rover range rover. While the vehicle was parked on an incline the vehicle began to roll away on its own. The contact was inside the vehicle and placed the parking brake in order to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the dealer for diagnostic testing. There was a recall under nhtsa campaign id number: 05v502000 (power train:automatic transmission) that may be related to the failure. The technician stated the vin was not included in the recall and diagnostic test would have to be performed to diagnose the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 78,000.

The front wheels locked up and caused the car to veer dangerously and screech to a halt. This was due to a failed front differential which, upon more online research is a common issue with this model. It was replaced by the dealer at a cost of $3,000.

Started hearing rubbing sound while driving and gets louder when picking up speed, also thumping sound when stepping on gas pedal. Took it to auto mechanic and was told i need a new differential assembly for front.

Vehicle began making a mid to high pitch whining/grinding sound coming from the rear of the vehicle. The sound is present at most speeds now. Land rover dealer told me it was the rear differential beginning to fail, and would cost 2200.00 to replace. They also told me that land rover north america is aware of the defective differentials, but essentially could care less.

Front differential making grinding noise, shop says it needs to be replaced.

Vehicle shuts down on slight incline( traction system engages) dealer say normal, happens on a daily basis.

While traveling at highway speed (approximately 65mph), the electronic brake module failed causing the emergency brake to lock up the rear wheels and put the car into a skid.the vehicle veered back and forth across the 3 lane highway as i steered to regain control.after coming to a stop, the brake automatically released and i was able to drive the vehicle off the highway and into the breakdown lane.

The contact owns a 2006 land rover range rover. While driving approximately 45 mph, the brake pedal traveled to the floor. The contact coasted the vehicle over to the side of the road. There is a recall on my front brake lines. The recall number is 15v-039. I had my brake lines replaced prior to the recall being issued. The recall states that the manufacturer will replace the brake lines for free or reimburse me if i had the lines done prior to the recall. I presented a receipt for the repair and the dealer in little rock is refusing to reimburse me. They stated that the repair must be performed by an authorized land rover dealer using land rover parts. I had the repair performed using land rover parts, however i did not take it to a dealer. My mechanic worked for this dealership for several years and is an authorized land rover mechanic when he left. I view this as an attempt to try and not pay me and i don't think it is reasonable or fair. I would sincerely appreciate some assistance!

When i backed my range rover up over the side curb it locked my steering. I can only turn my wheel when the truck is driving it has no power while in just sitting at a light. Makes it difficult to park my truck because i can't turn the wheel without gas to the truck. I took it to auto zone to see if it was power steering but no noise the fluids are in there.

After my 2006 range rover sport hse i purchased arrived from another state, i decided to drive it to the gas station to fill up which was less than a mile away.as i approached the my destination i turned on my right turn signal to merge into the exit lane and my vehicle came to an abrupt stop.i immediately put the vehicle into park and called the dealer in which i bought it from.they asked if i pushed the parking brake or changed the driving mode.they asked me to turn the vehicle off and back on to see if it would reset itself, but it didn't move.after all options failed, i was instructed by the dealer to get it towed to the nearest range rover repair shop.while the vehicle was being remove from the tow truck, the driver said it looks like your front end seized as he noticed the front tires were not turning. I am lucky and blessed that i was not going faster or that anyone was behind me while traveling 25 mph which i feel would have been an accident sure to happen.my heart still races when i think of my situation and what could have happen.i am currently waiting word from the dealer of what caused this problem.

Land rover 2006.the windshield is not clear at night due to a heating element in the windshield. The glare is so bad.

The front wheels locked up and caused the car to veer dangerously and screech to a halt. This was due to a failed front differential which, upon more online research is a common issue with this model. It was replaced by the dealer at a cost of $3,000.
