While driving noticed sudden loss in power, vehicle started smoking under hood, then engine caught on fire, light flashed on instrument panel moments before fire occurred.entire front end/front seat section burned.
When filling the fuel tank there is a gas smell,pulled over, looked under the vehicle and the fuel tank was leaking .
My 1992 land rover range rover has a stress crack in the top of the plastic fuel tank, identical to the recall for 1993-95 range rovers under nhtsa #04v20300. Land rover can't tell me why the 1992 vehicles are not covered. Gas now pours out of tank onto the ground during fill-up. I want coverage of this potentially fatal design flaw under the same parameters as nhtsa recall #04v20300.
The contact owns a 1992 land rover range rover. The contact stated that when the vehicle was being refueled, fuel leaked out. The contact stated that the leak was detected only when the fuel gauge was at the full mark. The contact also mentioned that an odor or fuel was detected inside the vehicle. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the failure may be due to a vent hole needing to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 137,000.
The abs light keeps coming on. Speed might be a factor. The brakes feel like they engaging when the abs light comes on.
Inner tie rod snapped while driving 70 mph, causing steering to vibrate/ loss of vehicle control. Vehiclerolled over 3 times.
