The contact owns a 2014 range rover evoque. The contact stated that the vehicle shifted gears independently. On one occasion, the vehicle independently shifted out of the park gear and into reverse, causing the contact to crash into a curb. As a result, the tire blew out and also crashed into another vehicle. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the software update to the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. There were no injuries and a police report was not filed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 10,000. The vin was not available.
The car went into neutral while driving, showing a gear box failure warning. We stopped the car and turned off the engine.after turning off the engine, and restarting after a several minute wait, we resumed driving and the vehicle came to a sudden screeching halt and would not move. The error message again stated gear box failure. We had the car towed to the dealer.
Our 2014 land rover evoque has a gear knob (gear shifter) located on the console. The gear knob changes by itself from drive, to neutral, to park. Dangerous! we identified this as part of a safety recall and took it to the dealer for repair. They updated the software and sent us on our way. After the same issue occurring several times, we took it back to the dealer at which time the stated we need a new transmission for over $17,000!!! the vehicle last showed only 35,000 miles! we have begged and pleaded our case with the dealer and repeatedly with land rover usa with no satisfactory resolution.
Recall p091 - our vehicle was not included in this recall however it suffers from the same dangerous safety issue. The vehicle shuts down while driving, even doing 70mph on the freeway. It appears to shift into neutral, with the dash saying "gearbox fault" and the gear shifter locking up. The car no longer revs and we have to coast to the side of the road. Very dangerous and we have had several near misses, including with a semi truck on the freeway. Landrover have done five (5) failed repair attempts via two separate dealerships. The problem remains unresolved. We have replaced the gearbox and turbo at landrovers suggestion of this being the issue; the car was not fixed by this. We believe that the car should have been included in the recall. This car is a deathtrap and landrover are refusing to do anything about it. We have 14 failed repairs on this vehicle in total, with landrover suggesting we pay for a 15th repair at a cost to us of almost $30,000. This would be the sixth (6th) repair attempt on this same issue alone. The car is riddled with numerous other issues. We have multiple videos of this issue taken over several break downs due to the same issue as the recall. This has happened over a dozen times, usually when the car is in motion, however it has happened upon starting the car, driving slowly on streets, and driving on the freeway at 70mph. We have all of the repair records documenting this but there are too many to upload here.
Rear tailgate will not open doors will not lock interior lighting stays on. Can not lock vehicle and can not drive at night with interior lights on.
Car abruptly shifts out of gear and into neutral while driving. Gear will not move to proper gear once this occurs. Control of vehicle is lost.
It is known the 2014 range rover/evoque has a terrible and repeated problem with the turbo /super charger over boost condition.it costs thousands of dollars to repair.this is due to a failed design with the exhaust system as range rover came up with a new design after 2014.
The timing chain continues to slip and need to replaced . Looses power, check engine light continues to come on. Been happening for about a year.
While driving the vehicle i experienced a loss in engine power and it seemed to be at a very high rpm for a low speed. The vehicle would not go over 30mph and had to be driven to the shop. It was diagnosed as a blown turbo and the turbo had to be replace. About a month later the engine needs to be replaced. I believe a direct corrulation between the turbo and engine.

While driving my vehicle it shutdown and i rolled to a stop on the side of the road.it would not start back up and had to be towed to the dealer.i was told it may be a blown motor but after additional diagnosis it was the determined to be that the timing chain broke and needed to be replaced with the tensioner.the vehicle has only 83,000 miles on it.
Turbo stopped working for second time at 51,000 miles, just out of warranty. This is a known failure and should be recalled.
The vehicle suddenly went into neutral on the highway and would not shift back. Speed of the vehicle at the time of incident was approximately 50 mph
Gas leek in the gas tankthere was a crack in it
The car started leaking gas. Apparently the fuel module and fuel pump broke. It leaked while running.
While attempting to enter highway from street to highway speeds, the evoque 2014 would not accelerate but rather rev at very high rpms for about 15 seconds and then jarringly slip into next gear.this occurred on 6 occasions, always on the highway and often as cars and trucks rapidly approached and had to slow behind me or swerve to free lanes.i was told several times by the dealer that this was likely a software problem and in an email:"a couple of weeks after installing the latest software for your transmission, the factory has requested all dealers to suspend the installation of the software. They have not gone into detail on why but i assume the software has not completely or only partially corrected the intended repairs"this has me very concerned about the reliability and safety of the vehicle.
The powertrain just went out at 60k miles. I googled regarding this n found a lot of other complaints with the powertrain even a lawsuit.
The contact owns a 2014 range rover evoque. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 16v614000 (power train); however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

We bought this vehicle in dec. 2019. After 10 months of driving all stability control and awd failed while driving. Com to find out there's a recall on transmission would have never knew without investigation.still not sure who to contact.it seemed to be a problem for previous driver also evident in owner's manual.was never told.i was driving sounded like the car was coming apart w every bump.on i65 interstate when it happened

On february 10, 2018, while i was driving on the freeway, the error message "gearbox fault" came on.at the same time, there was a sudden loss of motive power although the gear shift knob was still in the "s" position.i safely pulled over and switched off the engine.after the gear shift knob had retracted, i started the engine again by pressing the start/stop button.i was unable to move the gear shift knob out of the "p" position.after repeating this procedure several times, i was finally able to turn the gear shift knob into "s" again, allowing me to drive away.the almost exact same event happened again on february 11, 2018.i had to pull over again while driving on the freeway.the only difference was that i could move the gear shift knob into the "s" position on the first try after restarting the engine.later that day, the error message "gearbox fault" came on again when i started the engine in a parking garage.as happened the day before, i needed to restart the engine repeatedly in order to turn the gear shift knob out of the "p" position (i have filmed this incident with my phone; file size too big to upload).furthermore, i encountered the same problem in december 2016 and january 2017 while driving on highway roads.in both cases, i brought my vehicle to the dealership for repair and informed the service advisor of the problem.however, the problem apparently still persists and has so far happened a total of 5 times.
Car parked, running, door open to check mailbox. 15 feet away, car started toroll back, went to stop with rt leg reaching brake. Couldn't reach brake, pushed on open door, car did not stop. I fell backwards as left leg hopped and could not keep up. On ground tried to brace car with left leg, right and left legs went over head under open door as car continued to roll in gear backwards. Car was not on incline. Went after car and hamstrings and calves snapped and face planted. Attempted to run after car again with same result. Severe muscle injury to both legs. Now hip is dislocating, mri pending. Car rolled across street and was trapped into trees.
Turbo needs to be replaced with less than 45,000 miles

This is my first range rover and was very excited about the style and look of my car..i've owned many other car models, but this has by far been my favorite.however, i have never had the coloring on the car brand fade.the "r" onrange rover, in the front, is almost completely black.my car is still fairly new and this discoloration makes it look tacky.what can be done about this?this is a luxury car and should not tarnish this quickly.it's the name, shouldn't it represent quality?
