Bought car from tsg auto in parker, co. Vehicle had dash cover, when removed cover was cracked around the airbags. The steering wheel cover is also curled.
Driving, then default suspension light turns on. Then hydraulics completely stop working . Back seat seatbelt not working properly. Passenger airbag light turns on. Transmission pulls improperly. Electrical system, radio, clock, cd player stops working.
Pitted camshaft caused rocker arm to brake and stall.
In jan. 2006 we bought a land rover lr3ls, a month after we bought the car we begun having problems.the engine light warning lighted up a couple of times. The engine light warning lighted up & there was a burning smell coming from the air vents as well. We called the dealer & they said not to worry that it could wait, we insisted & finally they allowed us to bring the car into the dealer. All they said was that the compressor was dirty & that's why a burning smell came out of the vents & the engine light warning was now off & it would come back on because this was a software problem that they had become aware of & there was nothing they could do about it right now.the engine warning light came back that same day. We are afraid to drive the car & not being sure of it just being because of the software problem or if there is something really wrong with the car.we went to the dealer 3 different times, first have the car checked, second speak with the service manager & third with the general manager. All three visits we got the same answer a software problem & no solution. As we continued to do research about our software problem on the internet, we were astonished to find out that the engine of the lr3 v6 is a ford 4.0 & not a bmw motor as they used to be. The main reason we bought this car was because of the bmw motor the car was supposed to have. No one at the dealer ever told us that the lr3 v6 was a ford motor & the v8 was a jaguar motor eventhough we asked several times the difference between the lr3 v6 & v8. Until now the engine light warning keeps coming on & off & also the burning smell comes out of the vents. The dealer does not have a fix for our problem yet. Because of all the problems mentioned above we feel that there has been a fraud, the dealer has been selling these cars since the summer of 2005,in jan. '06 the dealer sold the car knowing this problem was going to arise with the engine light warning turning on & off due to the software problem.
As we were driving, the suspension fault light came on and immediately went off.we thought it may be due to the road conditions.about 30 minutes later, we stopped to gas up and when we were back on the road, the radio would not work.no sound but a cracking sound was coming from the radio.after a hour, the radio came back on.last week, i was driving and the suspension light was came on and off every 5 or 10 minutes, it seemed.then a loud chime with a suspension fault in red letters.at a stop light, the vehicle was going up and down like it has a mind of its own.kindly of spooky.of course, our 2006 lr3 is out of warranty.i called the dealer and it will cost $125 for a diagnosis but it will go toward the cost of the service whatever is needed.all i see is major dollars signs due to our last experience.the dealer quoted us a cost of $250 for a problem my husband fixed with a $12 fuse.so my husband will not take it back to the dealer not unless it is a must.
Upon stopping quickly or suddenly the vehicle's engine stalls creating very dangerous conditions for driver.happened on highway and intersection to date and nearly created two serious accidents surely would have been fatal had they occurred
Landrover lr 3 have a known problem of having water collect in the sunroof area due to blockage in some drainage tube from debris.cleaning of these tubes is not a regular part of maintenance if you take your vehicle to the dealership for scheduled maintenance or service.the water collect and leaks into the cabin directly over the radio and middle console.it also leaks over the dashboard near the passenger heat register and in the driver's side dashboard area over the heat register.water seeps into the electric system (the main bcm) that controls many important functions of the vehicle operation.so far i have a short in the radio.many of the landrover forums online have several customers and owners of landrover lr3 that have experienced this problem.this defect in the drainage system for the sunroof could cause serious damage / shorting out of the bcm that controls the entire vehicle.please see similar additional complaints at: http://www.arfc.org/complaints/2005/land_rover/lr3/electrical_system/problem.aspx http://www.businessweek.com/the_thread/the_thread/blogspotting/archives/2005/07/blogger_takes_o.htmlhttp://www.consumeraffairs.com/automotive/land_rover.html?page=3http://www.edmunds.com/land-rover/lr3/2006/consumer-discussions.htmlhttp://www.landroversonly.com/forums/f40/sunroof-leak-not-tubes-24066/http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&ved=0ccyqfjaa&url=http%3a%2f%2fwww.landroverworld.org%2fforums%2fshowthread.php%3ft%3d17938&ei=v0h0uvm4w-bjaecmgmaf&usg=afqjcnhjv4enq7oz8b8s2ilgc_ye8hvlxg&bvm=bv.60983673,d.awchttp://forums.landrovergroup.com/topic/1124-problems-with-the-lr3/page__st__30.
While on the highway in slow traffic, electronic park brake failure first warning flashed and engine suddenly lost power all lights then gradually appearing with a transmission warning next etc etc. Luckily i was near an exit where i waited on a tow. I then while waiting noticed that my trans selector can move out of park with the key in my hand.my complaint is principally that land rover will not sympathize with me on the fact that because of such a safety hazard that their relevant recalls should extend until the system is fixed properly and not just until the warentee is over.
Fault with sunroof drain tubes. Tubes become either blocked or eroded, and water leaking into the driver and passenger floorboard. Under the driver's side floor are many electrical wires. As a result of water accumulating under floor, electrical functions of car might fail such as navigation failure, voice command, keyless entry. Car also failed to move from parked position as a result of the water destroying sensors. Cost over $800.00 to replace the sensor.

Suspension fault light came on, dealer says the compressor needs to be replaced, $1600 for a part that seems to be a very popular problem with lr3. Why there hasn't been a recall, or a service bulletin on this is beyond me.
On two separate occasions the vehiclelostpower and came to a complete stop while we where driving on the freeway.
2006 lr3 with only 93k miles had the timing chain break while on the highway and the engine immediately shut down. The vehicle has a full service history at an authorized land rover dealer showing recommended maintenance has been performed during the life of the vehicle. The damage to the engine (valves etc.) is estimated at $5500 to repair. The timing chain is made of metal and based on industry expertise is not supposed to break for the life of the engine or past 200,000+ miles. Research online shows this has happened to other lr3 owners with vehicles with less than 100k miles. Based upon the expectations for the lifespan of a timing chain and other similar incidents, i believe there may be a defective part on this vehicle associated with the timing chain and it's related components. There are no manufacturer recommended guidelines to replace the timing chain prior to 100k miles and it is expected to last far longer than 100k miles based upon normal wear and tear for this vehicle. We have only used the vehicle us roads as you would a typical automobile (no off-roading hobbies etc.)we are pursuing this matter with land rover directly and reporting this as a safety issue to alert other lr3 owners.

Vehicle has approximately 65k miles and have been notified that the suspension air compressor must be replaced.this appears to be a very common problem.the dealer is unable to repair the vehicle at this time due to the part being on back order due to the number of vehicles needing this same repair.the compressors are obviously not the best quality with the elevated level of failures.hopefully the part comes in before a complete failure of the compressor.

I had my landrover lr3 vehicle serviced at the alexandria, va while at this dealership i requested to have service which i discovered was issued through a landrover manufacture's bulletin completed also.on october 23, 2007, my vehicle was brought into the bethesda, md landrover dealership for servicing, including the maintenance work, repair of the brake lights and repair of the sunroof. The dealershipstated that i needed replacement tires and an alignmentiquestioned the logic of the tires prematurely wearing.i decided to research the matter further. These conditions existed when the vehicle was at the bethesda, md location, but were not taken care of which was part of the service warranty.daniel's promised to me that he would take care of the directive's costs, i received a phone call from the person who identified himself as denise matiupa, a supervisor.denise started the conversation off by yelling that he had reviewed the notes associated with the decision to deny me coverage and want to know what i wanted. Denise stated that it had not been serviced when it was in bethesda, md.i told denise that i requested it.denise stated that he had no record of my request.i told denise, he also doesn't have any record of my not requesting it.i reminded denise that if landrover puts out a directive, the dealerships receive them, not the customer.the service ticket on the day that i had my vehicle in bethesda, md clearly notes that the tires, hence, the suspension system was prematurely malfunctioning and it is the dealership duty under the warranty to execute all required routine services.denise stated that he was sticking by the decision. Please assist me as you can in obtaining a reversal ofthis denial decision.
The contact owns a 2006 land rover lr3.the contact stated that the vehicle was leaking fuel from the front passenger's side.the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic.the vehicle was repaired, however the failure recurred. The repairs performed were unknown.the manufacturer was not notified of the failure.the failure mileage was 191,000.the vin was not available.
Upon stopping quickly or suddenly the vehicle's engine stalls creating very dangerous conditions for driver.happened on highway and intersection to date and nearly created two serious accidents surely would have been fatal had they occurred
Land rover lr3's have a faulty rear tailgate release mechanism that could lead to being trapped in the car. My rear tailgate would not open iscontrolled by an electronic actuator....so i looked in the owners manual to see where the manual release is....guess what there is not one...so if this little cable brakes that is attached to the rear tailgate actuator..there is no way to manual open the tailgate from inside or outside of the vehicle. After looking on the internet at various land rover forums..i have found this to be a problem on lr3's. If you where unable to get the front doors in the event of an emergency and had to exit the rear...if that cable is broke...it is impossible to manually release the rear tailgate..you are stuck in the car..i took the car to the land rover dealership and there fix is to just replace the broke cable/actuator for 500.00...they have to break into the rear tailgate from inside the vehicle....ruining the trim ...which of course i have to pay to have replaced..hence the large bill.....this is a safety hazard and should be recalled/addressed by landrover.
The latch mechanism on the tail gate fails and the vehicle will not open in an emergency trapping anyone in the 7th passenger seat area.
Check for transmission software update, as it initially seemed to have the must discussed problem of harsh and irregular shifting when rolling to a stop and then re-accelerating. This problem has continued intermittantly and now the vehicle sometimes drops completely out of gear when slowing down or turning. The vehicle then dropped out of gear and i had no acceleration, as it was suddenly like i was in neutral. High rpm.... But no movement. After a few seconds, the transmission seems to find "drive" and i can then move forward with normal acceleration.
2006 land rover lr2 hse edition. Defective transmission. Ongoing serious problems. Car goes from first gear, then into neutral, then jolts forward unexpectedly when applying gas...at a stop sign, for example. Poor low speed transmission shifts. Annoying beyond belief, unsafe, too. Not what one expects in a $53,000 car. Land rover claims "it's getting to know my driving". Now they finally admit there is a problem and state a "new software will fix it". Well, the last "software update" made it worse. Very concerned, very annoyed.
2006 land rover model lr3 -leased. Vehicle has delayed acceleration from a stop or slow speed- vehicle hesitates. Vehicle is used on roadways in florida. I brought the vehicle to the dealer three timesand the problem persists. Delayed acceleration poses grave safety risks to occupants when attempting to accelerate for turn, start, etc.according to the dealers repair orders the following was done: 5-18-06 reflash transfer box control module, configuration of new ecu; reset adaption: 6-26-06- faulty engine management-system diagnosis includes configuration of new ecu;inspect delivery valve and rework compressor;remove spigot and check spigot and reinforcement plate nut ,located and reinstall spigot;7-3-06-engine management system diagnosis includes configuration of new ecu;drive cycle' as instructed by wds/t4 perform wds diagnostics. No stored fault codes. Check engine and transmission calibration files. Reset transmission adaptions perform addaptive drive cycle.the problem persists. I have rented a car due to safety issue. I am attempting resolve under the lemonlaw but want this issue addressed for public safety. According to the road reviews i have researched, the 2005 lr3 has acceleration issues. I could not find a review of the 2006 model yet.
Transmission slips then engages hard when taking off, if not from a dead stop.
The contact rented a 2006 land rover lr3.the contact stated that the vehicle automatically shifted out of park and drove over his girlfriend's legs.a police report was filed.nhtsa campaign id number 05v502000 (power train:automatic transmission) and land rover recall number b023 were referenced.the vehicle was not repaired.the vin, engine size, speed, and mileages were unknown.
Driving, then default suspension light turns on. Then hydraulics completely stop working . Back seat seatbelt not working properly. Passenger airbag light turns on. Transmission pulls improperly. Electrical system, radio, clock, cd player stops working.
The right rear wheel was making a high pitched nose for almost 8 months. I was told there was nothing wrong. Eventually the high pitched noise turned into a loud grinding noise and was told the "outside" brake,(which has no sensor) had been locked in place and caused the breaks to wear completely down to metal on metal. This required me to buy new brakes for both sides. It seem to me to be a malfunction in the car but the dealer said it is a "wear and tear" item so it is not covered by the warranty.if it was just wear and tear why did only one side wear down to the metal and why isn't there a sensor for this. It appears to be a malfunction in the braking system if there truly is no sensor for the "outside" brake pad.
The brake rotors on my land rover became severely warped at 12,744 miles. They were replaced under warranty, but brake rotors should not warp with so few miles on them. I think this is a problem with all land rovers based on comments from the dealer.
Bought car from tsg auto in parker, co. Vehicle had dash cover, when removed cover was cracked around the airbags. The steering wheel cover is also curled.
On my land rover lr3 when i turn the steering wheel hard to the right and left there is a loud crunching noise in the front end. The dealer says its common and due to the steering linkage hitting the stop, however this does not happen on all lr3's. I'm driving a loaner from the dealer and this on (same model and year) does not make the noise. I've owned nearly 25 vehicles in my life and none have made this noise. It is clearly a problem but land rover won't acknowledge it, they should recall these vehicles and fix the problem.

Safety issue the rear hatch will not open period.it will make a click sound but will not release door to openit is impossible to open rear hatch.
I bought a 2006 lr3 about a year ago from a dealer in south florida. The vehicle only has 39k miles on it and last week the suspension fault indicator came on. I took the truck to the dealer to have a diagnostic and they told me that the suspension compressor is not working. To replace the part is $1200 because the car is no longer under warranty. If the compressor fails, the suspension fails and the truck can end up riding on the tires at any time until the compressor is fixed. I spoke with land rover north america and they will not pay to replace the defective part. So now i am stuck with a $1200 repair on a vehicle that only has 39k miles.

I began to notice a rattling noise coming from underneath the driver's side, while driving at any speed. After a week, the "suspension fault" light came on.i was told the suspension compressor needed to be replaced, so i went ahead with the repairs at a cost of $1600.when i picked up the vehicle and tested the suspension, it would not raise into off road height.it lowered fine, but when i put it in normal height, only the rear would raise. It also took a lot longer than usual.i didn't even get it out of the shop parking lot before the suspension fault light lit up again.after researching this problem online and finding out that this is a common problem that sometimes takes 2 or 3 attempts to correct, it's obvious there's a defect with the suspension system or the actual compressor.either way, this should be covered by landrover.i hope they do the right thing and issue a recall.
My wife owns a 2006 land rover lr3.the vehicle is less than 1 year old, and the rear tires are bald.they have approximately 16,000 miles of use.this is clearly a problem with either the car or the tires, and the dealership acknowledged that it was a problem with the alignment of the vehicle.i am concerned because my vehicle was in for a regular service a month ago, and land rover neither mentioned the problem nor took any action to correct the defect.now that the tires are gone, land rover is fixing the problem and replacing the tires.my concern comes from the fact that the tires were worn enough to expose the material under the tread.the wear takes place on the insides of the rear tires, and so is not visible to a casual glance.if we had not noticed the damage when we did, i feel fairly certain that a blowout would have occurred.this is the kind of thing that needs to be prevented and can be prevented if the manufacturer is proactive.

Suspension fault light comes on when driving. Vehicle moves up and down. I have seen more than numerous complaints on the air compressor and faulty sensors. Why aren't they being repaired by land rover. A vehicle of this type and cost should not have this problem. Are they waiting for time to run out?
The contact owns a 2006 land rover lr3.the contact stated that the compressor for the air suspension had been replaced three times on her vehicle.a week after the most recent repair, the vehicle caught fire while parked in the driveway.the fire department extinguished the fire and a report was filed.there were no injuries and the vehicle was destroyed.the fire department and insurance company stated that the air compressor caused the fire.the manufacturer was notified.the failure mileage was 70,000.updated 05/18/09. *ljupdated 05/20/09.
I purchased a 2006 land rover lr3 se in dec. 2005.it has approx. 13k miles and i was about to rotate the tires when i noticed that the inside tread on both rear tires had worn completely through exposing the steel belts while the outside portion of the tread was not worn at all.it appeared to have a significant camber misalignment on both rear wheels.it was so dangerous, i called roadside assistance to tow the vehicle instead of driving and risk blowing the tire on the way to the dealership.after dealer inspection the dealer agreed to pay only half the cost to replace the tires and said that factory camber settings would require us to replace all 4 tires approximately every 10k miles (every 6 months).they are charging me $769 for 2 tires - that would cost $1500 every 6 months!!i have contacted land rover usa to have them buy back my vehicle because this mechanical/safety issue was not disclosed to me at point-of-sale.i am awaiting response.i am making this complaint so that no one gets killed on the highway due to blowouts.in researching this problem, i found that countless others on the land rover forum experienced identical problems.
Uneven tire wear on the 2006 land rover lr3, land rover knows there is a defect but has done nothing to repair.i am on my 3rd set of tires and my lr lr3 only has 40,000 miles.after doing research, there seems to be a lot of consumers with the same problem.land rover just gives me excuse after excuse and i have to pay for the new tires and an alignment.the wear on the tire is so severe it can be really dangerous on the roads.
I have experienced abnormal tire wear on my 2006 lr3.the tires started wearing unevenly immediately after the purchase.the dealer changed some alignment issues at 10,000 miles that said they were from a defect at the factory and i was told the tires would start to wear evenly.at 16,000 the tires were found to be wearing unevenly again and i was told that they needed replaced.
Dangerous uneven tire wear.
I own a 2006 landrover lr3 with 21,000 miles.all four tires were found to wearing only on the inside only by the dealer at 16,000 miles.at 21,000 miles the dealer informed me that all four tires are dangerously worn and that they need to be replaced.they are worn on the inside only.
2006 land rover lr3 with n 9500 mileswas taken todealerfor second episode of rain water leaking - dealer noticed increased wear on both back tires on inner surface.service representativestated lr issued a bulletin directing new specs onalignment/balancing due to a known issue of dramatic/unsafe wear on inner rear tires.dealer statedi will have to pay prorated schedule for tire replacement and alignment service - this was unsatisfactoryas the wear wasobviously due to a known manufacturer'sissue.also quite concerned about multiple leaks from rain.purchased in california, but military stationed in north carolina.how could i pursue lemon law statutes .
Rear tires wore down completely within 15,000 miles.
Sunroof glass exploded while the car was parked in a secure parking area.

This is the second brand new range rover lr3 (v6) that would not stop and instead accelerated rapidly through a stop sign across a highway.my previous complaint concerned the first car with the same problem. See complaint #10154482. This car had abut 200 miles on it. Like the first one we bought, it also could not be stopped when forcefully applying the brake. Instead it took off and later came to a stop. We lunged through an intersection across a highway and fortunately no other cars were coming. We had this car also towed to the dealer.since the dealer could find nothing wrong with the last car that did the same thing, this time they were quicker with a refund.my wife and i still don't know what they did with the vehicles, nor what the actual problem was. The tow driver of the first car said it was a cruise control problem. Whatever the problem is, it is very serious and dangerous. What are the odds of this happening to two vehicles purchased only one month apart?

2006 range rover / lr3- 15 miles on vehicle. Experienced rapid acceleration instead of braking three times the first time we drove the car after taking it home. Could not stop the car while pushing hard on the brake with both feet. Engine raced instead.it did slow down at first then lunged forward through a stop sign, then a stop light, onto a highway etc. Luckily no crashes. Auto dealer could not find anything wrong, neither could land rover.ordered another new vehicle, same make and modeland the same thing happened! drove it 2 hours and then it would notstop fully at a stop sign.it speeded up instead and raced across a highway. Returned that car also and won't buy another one.dealer did refund our money and said it was a land rover problem. My wife and i were in the car together both times.service dept.suggested i was a fault by applying the gas and brake at the same time. Said the pedals are close together.this car should be recalled.i bought two of them and they both did the same thing. Someone is going to be seriously injured if they don't.

I just purchased a 2006 landrover lr3 with cold climate package which includes a heated front windshield. My complaint is that when driving at night any head light from on coming cars or street signs is automatically blurred by the vertical element lines that are in the windshield. (there are many vertical heat element lines across the windshield). Any bright light viewed at night tends to be blurred which can make driving a bit more dangerous. As i have searched, there are other car makers who offer front heated windshields. Have there been any studies regarding this.
