There is a very serious issue in landrover discovery 2017 that abruptly shuts down the engine for no apparent reason. On nov 20th, 2020 my wife was travelling to pittsburgh pa on route 76 pa turnpike. Near bradfordford, pa the engine suddenly shut itself down without any pre-warning. The car stalled with no ability or ample time for her to steer to the shoulder. Until highway patrol arrived, she was completely left in a helpless and life threatening situation. Any big truck could've easily rear ended her and killed her.highway patrol and turnpike authority service personnel arrived onsite, inspected the car but did not find any apparent issue. Without anything done on the car, after 15 mins or so the engine started normally as if nothing happened.

First three days before 5/14/2019 the seatbelts lights were on and off, and on may14/2019 i was on my way to work the car just stop in the middle of the road. .. The break were locked.
Vehicle has severe defects relating to the climate control functions.1) in hot weather, it cannot cool down the car, 2) due to having to keep the climate at lo/max, i am getting 9-10 mpg (16 city is stated), 3) independent climate control functions do not work, 4) no ventilation in 2/3 of car.
I was driving on main road at the speed limit (45 mph). I had slowed down as i observed a car pulling out ahead of me onto the road.as i gave my vehicle gas in order to get back up to speed, i felt a pause in the engine and then the car completely lost power- the engine stopped, the red battery icon appeared on the dash, and message appeared on the screen with the heading "special program suspended" or something to that effect-- i had no time to read that message asi had to steer my car as far to the right as i was able to. I tried to restart the vehicle, it would not start and the message disappeared-- i had no chance to read it as i was on a busy and heavy traveled road and had to ensure i was safely pulled over.unknown at this time as to what caused this malfunction. This created an unsafe condition as the car lost power with no forewarning.i am lucky that it did not happen on the highway on which i travel most of the time. I contacted land rover roadside assistance and the car was put on a flatbed and brought to the dealer.
Car seems to loose power. Shutters and almost stalls when giving gas. Happens at random. Was told to switch fuel brands didn't help. Vehicle does it mainly when doing a califonia stop. Happens mainly on city streets. No matter how much gas is given car still shutters no power and slows until car resolve issue. Vehicle is a diesel

The rear fog lights are placed directly in the line of sight of most passenger cars. The button on the stalk makes it too easy for drivers to depress it, blinding motorists following the car and causing dangerous visibility issues. In four instances in less than two weeks, i have had to alter my path or pull off the roadway to avoid this make of vehicle running rear fogs in the broad daylight.

The 2017 discovery has been designed with only 4 air vents in the front dash and 2 very weak air vents in the 2nd row.this is a 3 row passenger vehicle with no vents in the 3rd row.the car is missing at least 4 vents and is creating a safety hazard in hot and cold environments.i cannot have passengers or animals in the rear of the car due to the lack of ventilation in the vehicle.in addition, due to attempting to cool the car down, running the car with max ac is giving me only 9-10 mpg.car is advertised as 16 mpg city.this is a blatant design and safety issue for climate control and false mpg standards.

A new discovery hse 2017 was leaking automatic transmission after being used for approx. 980 miles. The leak seems to come from the rear transmission / transfer case area. Based on observation, the oil weeps through the aluminium casing and drops in the garage floor. This was immediately reported to the jlr dealership on june 14, 2018 and its being there since then for a transmission replacement based on a service bulletin.the suv was only used for 2 weeks and the first drop of oil was found on the driveway floor over the course of the 2nd week, everyday after driving from work.

Brake pedal always speaks. Countless rattles in vehicle
The back left passenger door opened while the vehicle was in motion and when i stopped the vehicle and tried to close the door it would not shut, it would spring open and not latch.this has happened twice now.the first time it occurred one month ago and i took the car to the dealer and they claimed there was no recall and they alleged to have done a reset which they understood would solve the safety issue.yesterday, approximately one month later, it occurred again.i was driving on a main roadway with many cars around me and i noticed the door was ajar and in risk of hitting the cars driving by me.i immediately slowed down and pulled to the side of the road and tried to close the door and it would not latch close.both times this has happened i was driving at moderate speed, at around 35 mph, on main roadways with many other cars around me, so it was difficult to immediately pull over and avoid damage and harm.yesterday, when i pulled to the side of the road, i called the dealer and they told me they would send a towing truck.after waiting 2 hours on side of road, my husband came and taped the door shut so that i could drive it to the dealer.when we arrived at the dealer the service supervisor came out and viewed it and saw it for himself and experimented with the fact that the door would not close, no matter what effort was made.the dealer is in possession of the car now, apparently checking what the issue is and to then find a solution.however, i have no confidence that they will in fact solve this safety issue because it has already happened one time and they said they fixed it and it occurred again one month later.this is a very serious safety issue because i have young children who sit in the back seat and also other people/vehicles could be affected by a door flying open while a car is in motion in a public road.

2017 land rover discovery hse, major water leak from the upper corner, passenger side of the car. The leak happens when it rains or snows (both standing still or in motion). The water so far has touched the a-pillar airbag, the safety cameras on the windshield and other electrical wiring. Additionally the water finds its way to the carpeting on the floor. In one occasion today (1/8/2020) water spilled into my head from right above the rear-view mirror while i was taking an exit ramp. This got me distracted for a couple of seconds, almost running off the road. Land rover is aware of the issue, however they wait for the customer to report the problem before they do anything about it. It seems that the owners have been experiencing this issue as early as late 2017 (based on internet blogs). It also seems that there is a flaw with the early production models, requiring land rover to replace the entire windshield to resolve the issue, however after over 50 days of reporting the issue, land rover has failed to provide the replacement part. As a consumer i believe this is a major safety issue, mainly because it can cause electrical shortage with safety components, in addition to distracting the driver due to unexpected water drop while operating the car.
